MORTIIS And Director REINERT KIIL Release Second Instalment Of Sordid Short Film Trilogy

MORTIIS And Director REINERT KIIL Release Second Instalment Of Sordid Short Film Trilogy

The second instalment in a trio of short films by Norwegian filmmaker Reinert Kiil, set to music by Mortiis, is now available. Draugr, which features Mortiis' "Too Little Too Late" as its soundtrack, continues the trilogy in Kiil's depravity-driven style.

"Ethanol injected directly into veins, naked chicks with shotguns, split tongues and sword swallowing," Mortiis said. "What could possibly go wrong?"

The "shock film" director has gained notoriety as Norway's only Grindhouse filmmaker. Draugr has already caused national Norwegian media to all but ban the film short, due in part to its content, as well as Mortiis' past affiliation with early Norwegian black metal.

Check out both Mortiis-Kiil films below:

ROB ZOMBIE Bassist Joins Forces With NEW YEARS DAY Singer In THE HAXANS

ROB ZOMBIE Bassist Joins Forces With NEW YEARS DAY Singer In THE HAXANS

THE HAXANS is a brand new power-duo featuring Ash Costello (NEW YEARS DAY) on vocals and Matt Montgomery (ROB ZOMBIE) on vocals and guitar. A first taste of this unique goth- and pop-infused project comes via the track "Chains", which can be streamed below.

Says Ash: "THE HAXANS is like a '70s spook-show club dance party. The song 'Chains' is the first song that we recorded together and it has such a groovy vibe. The lyrics are about someone who is like a ghost in your life. Someone that just won't go away. This song is the direct message to them."

Matt states: "We're like a goth-pop Sonny and Cher. A death-rock Donny and Marie. It's a brand new sound from the underground!"

He tells the story of their first encounter: "Ash and I met and immediately slowdanced down the 'black carpet' at the Golden Gods Awards. The moment we met, I thought, 'now here's a girl who likes 'The Haunted Mansion' and 'Halloween' as much as I do… so, what would it sound like if we made a record together?' A year later, we were doing just that."

Ash adds: "The next time I ran into him was at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Later that week I got a message from him asking if I would be interested in doing a project together. What's really amazing about working with him is how easy it is. Songs just started forming organically, although it did take a while simply because of both of our busy touring schedules. This isn't like NYD, or anything I've ever done before."

MOTÖRHEAD Drummer MIKKEY DEE Discusses New Clean Your Clock Release - “LEMMY Was Giving 100% All The Way”

MOTÖRHEAD Drummer MIKKEY DEE Discusses New Clean Your Clock Release - “LEMMY Was Giving 100% All The Way”

On November 20th and 21st, 2015, at the Zenith in Munich, Germany, UDR Records made the decision to record the very last live shows ever recorded by Motörhead, prior to the death of leader Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister on December 28th, 2015 - four days after his 70th birthday - in Los Angeles from an extremely aggressive cancer. Titled Clean Your Clock, the live album was released on May 27th.

In a new interview with MetalPaths.com’s Karagiannidis Panagiotis, drummer Mikkey Dee discusses this important release, the last shows with Motörhead, and Lemmy. An excerpt follows:

Q: So, Clean Your Clock is the title of the live DVD; a live DVD of Motörhead’s shows in November 20th and 21st, 2015 in Munich, Germany. I guess you couldn’t imagine back then that this DVD would feature Motörhead’s last ever shows…

A: “Definitely no. We had tour dates already planned for 2016 and even considered to film more shows. We were able to document the shows in Munich. Lemmy was giving 100% all the way.”

Q: The press release of the DVD starts saying “Never was the spirit of Motörhead more alive than when they were on tour”. I guess there is no better person than you to explain what this sentence really means.

A: “There is just something about getting together on stage with the fans, lights, volume, and the smell of energy and the excitement of the fans that kept us going for these years. We felt always so supported.”

Q: The DVD features the shows in Munich however the last show took place in Berlin on December 11th. What are your memories from that show?

A: “Basically we were all looking forward to getting home before the Christmas holidays and Lemmy’s birthday party event. Everything was a bit in turmoil as Phil had to be hospitalized and we had to postpone the last shows and of course, Lemmy’s health; he was looking more fragile and tired than ever. We were all looking forward to take a rest and some time off.”

Read the complete interview at MetalPaths.com.

Clean Your Clock is available in the following formats:

* Coloured Double Vinyl in Gatefold with Pop-up Art
* Standalone Audio CD
* DVD of the show with audio CD
* BluRay of the show with audio CD
* Boxset which contains the Coloured Double Vinyl in Gatefold with Pop-Up Art (incl. Download Card), DVD of the show with audio CD in Mini-Gatefold with Pop-Up Art, Blu-ray of the show and the Motörhead Metal Pin
* A limited edition boxset will be available through the UDR shop and will contain the Motörhead Pin in Silver or Gold

They were the Kings of the Road. They lived on it. They loved it and the fans loved them!

Never was the spirit of Motörhead more alive than when they were on tour, shake, rattle and rolling audiences to within an inch of their lives thanks to that indomitable cocktail of power, purpose and head-crunching volume. In fact, after four decades of bone-pulverizing duty, Motörhead were still enjoying sold-out gigs worldwide.

Watch 82-Year-Old

Watch 82-Year-Old 'America's Got Talent' Contestant Sing DROWNING POOL's 'Bodies'

According to AOL.com, an 82-year-old contestant left the judging panel gobsmacked and the entire audience in disbelief as he sang DROWNING POOL's hit song "Bodies" during his appearance on the new season of reality show "America's Got Talent".

John Hetlinger, a former Navy pilot and program manager for the instrument that repaired the Hubble Space Telescope, told the judges that after all of his incredible jobs, getting onto "America's Got Talent" "would be the high point of [his] life and many careers."

You can now watch Hetlinger's performance below.

Hetlinger, who hails from Broomfield, Colorado, had previously shared video clips of him singing "Bodies" via his YouTube channel (see below).

Catch the new season of "America's Got Talent" Tuesday on NBC at 8/7 central.

"Bodies" was the lead single from DROWNING POOL's debut album, "Sinner", which came out in 2001. The band's most popular track, it has been featured in various films, TV programs, and advertisements since its release. The song remained DROWNING POOL's highest charting single until "37 Stitches" premiered in fall of 2008.

"Bodies" was reportedly used by interrogators at the Guantanamo Bay detention camps in 2003. It was repeatedly played over a 10 days period to "stress" Mohamedou Ould Slahi during interrogations while he was "exposed to variable lighting patterns" at the same time.

Watch HALESTORM Perform At Germany

Watch HALESTORM Perform At Germany's ROCK IM PARK Festival

Fan-filmed video footage of HALESTORM's June 5 performance at the Rock Im Park festival at Zeppelinfeld in Nürnberg, Germany can be seen below.

HALESTORM announced today a new fall leg of tour dates, which once again sees support from the legendary Lita Ford and DOROTHY. The dates kick off October 6 in Dallas and run through October 28 in Quebec, following the band's current European run and their direct support slot on Carnival Of Madness (with SHINEDOWN headlining).

HALESTORM's first two albums, 2009's "Halestorm" and 2012's "The Strange Case Of…" were both officially certified gold in March by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales of more than 500,000 copies. The certifications came after RIAA started including on-demand audio and video streams and a track sale equivalent in gold and platinum album award.

"Into The Wild Life" debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 album chart, selling 56,000 copies in its first week of release — more than double the first-week haul of their second CD — but has not reached gold yet.

UNRULY CHILD Recording New Album

UNRULY CHILD Recording New Album

Frontiers Music Srl has welcomed back to the label one of the most legendary melodic hard rock bands ever: UNRULY CHILD.

Formed at the dawn of the '90s, UNRULY CHILD debuted with their self-titled release on Interscope/Atlantic in 1992. The original lineup featured singer Marcie Michelle Free (known before her sex-change operation as Mark Free; KING KOBRA, SIGNAL), guitarist Bruce Gowdy (STONE FURY, WORLD TRADE), keyboardist Guy Allison (LODGIC, WORLD TRADE, THE DOOBIE BROTHERS), drummer Jay Schellen (HURRICANE, WORLD TRADE, ASIA), and bassist Larry Antonino (PABLO CRUISE, AIR SUPPLY).

The record is still regarded as one of the musical highlights of its era with soaring vocals and fabulous musicianship combined with a unique take on melodic hard rock with a slight progressive edge.

After two more critically acclaimed studio recordings, the band reunited the original lineup in 2010 and is now getting ready for a new return with the recording of a brand new album and more surprises, including a new live DVD and a limited box set release which will encompass all the band's releases from 1998 until now (including four original studio albums and a CD/DVD of demos recorded for the debut album).

Guy Allison says: "The reaction to our release of 'Worlds Collide' and to our live appearance at FireFest has had a huge impact on us. The positive feedback from the UNRULY CHILD fans has always been a catalyst and driving force for our creativity — but we didn't quite expect so much love from the UC collective. So now we want to take everything we've learned, everything we've done, and distill it into the quintessential, badass 'take no prisoners,' best UNRULY CHILD record — EVER! We're shooting for epic."

Marcie Michelle Free adds: "Age is only a number and a state of being. But beyond the physical plane, time has no meaning. That is where one usually finds me. With that and in thinking about the opportunity before us, I must say that it is very exciting to think of the prospects. A new record, a new day, and a new beginning.

"Our last record with Frontiers ['Worlds Collide'] in 2010 was a huge success. But our focus of late has been on the past and by looking back we're actually looking ahead bringing with us all that we have learned along the way.

"UNRULY CHILD was born out of all that we were up to the time of the present in our past. Our future is eternal. Knowing that, feeling that, touching that, is something we all want and need. Gee… isn't masturbation the bomb?"

Bruce Gowdy concludes: "I'm excited to work on a new UNRULY CHILD album; it's going to be great! We've always, as a group, had the best times working together, and now a new album and shows planned... Wow ! We're very excited about the future of UNRULY CHILD. Please spread the news."

The recording sessions for the new album have started already, with the label looking at releasing the new record in early 2017.

As individuals and at times crossing paths, they have played and/or currently play with with Adrenaline Rush, Reach, Erika, Houston, Find Me, GutterdÄMerung, Big Time, and Miljenko Matijevic to name a few.

HELLCATS Premier Official Music Video For “I Am” Single

HELLCATS Premier Official Music Video For “I Am” Single

Slovenian all-female heavy metal band, Hellcats, have released a video for their recent single, "I Am". The video was filmed recently in Ljubljana at the local drift car ring and it is the work of the same director, Pedrag Rajčič-Perica, who also directed their last video for the song “Demon Dreams” which reached the top of the video charts in Slovenia.

"I Am" is also the first single from their upcoming album. Their previous (debut) album, Warrior Princess, which was critically acclaimed in Slovenia and around the world was released in 2014.

Sasha Zagorc (bass) formed the heavy metal/hard rock band Hellcats with her sister Sonja Zagorc (drums) 10 years ago. The band had to deal with quite a lot of criticism as the first all-female band on the Slovenian metal scene, but they just kept going and now have fans all over the world. For Hellcats having a band provides much needed relaxation, and they love going on tour as best friends, Sasha told the BBC in an interview a few days ago.

Enjoy the adventure of Hellcats "I Am" video accompanied with addictive music, spinning wheels, smoke and engine noise of drifting cars that symbolizes the free-minded spirit with forward facing attitude.

MUDVAYNE Bassist RYAN MARTINIE Resurfaces In SOFTEN THE GLARE

MUDVAYNE Bassist RYAN MARTINIE Resurfaces In SOFTEN THE GLARE

When Ryan Martinie and Bon Lozaga first met in Los Angeles and started talking about getting together to create some music, they didn't know what to expect. Now as SOFTEN THE GLARE, their music is evolving and constantly changing, bringing in elements from both their worlds and others. Currently their music is headed in an instrumental jazz/rock direction with elements of metal, funk, prog and a touch of chaos.

Martinie is known for his bass playing and songwriting for MUDVAYNE. Numerous world tours (including a stint with KORN), MTV awards and millions of records sold are part of his musical heritage. Bon Lozaga (GONG, TINY BOXES) is known in the jazz/rock world and jamband scene (playing with MOE. and UMPHREYS MCGEE) and has released over a dozen albums featuring such noted guests as Allan Holdsworth, Kai Eckhardt, David Torn, David Fiuczynski, with his various projects and has also toured throughout the world.

SOFTEN THE GLARE's lineup is completed by drummer Mitch Hull.

HELLYEAH frontman Chad Gray recently explained to Billboard why MUDVAYNE broke up after five studio albums together. He said: "I still love and talk to those guys, but it's like being in a relationship and all the sudden things just start to fall apart. MUDVAYNE was just dissolving. It became too much for all of us. It was no one person in particular's fault. We all have faults. It was crumbling beneath us. I chose to be an artist and continue to play in HELLYEAH."

It's been seven years since MUDVAYNE released its self-titled fifth album, which was barely promoted and sold weakly upon release.

Fans who adored Burn Halo singles like “Save Me” and “Tear it Down” will be fall in love with Burn Halo all over again, even as longtime Eighteen Visions acolytes will delight in their throwback power.

NOISEM Sign To Relapse Records; Band Preparing New Album

Relapse Records has announced the signing of Baltimore, MD's Noisem. Formed in 2013 as teenagers, Noisem quickly established themselves as the most promising young band in extreme metal, and toured with countless heavyweights such as Carcass, Obituary, Nails, Dropdead, The Black Dahlia Murder, Gorguts, Iron Reagan and many more during their short time as a band.

Noisem bring an incredible energy to their mix of death metal, thrash, grindcore and hardcore and have released two full-lengths and an EP via A389 Recordings. Their most recent album, Blossoming Decay, can be streamed in full below.

We look forward to what we’ll be able to do in the future and am glad they decided to add us to their already incredible line-up of bands. Without giving too much away, Noisem record C so far has come to be about the sense of memory in loss, and gain. How everything before you pass could have a never ending impact on how you are seen, but within yourself will be forgotten in an instant. YETI ON HORSEBACK To Release Debut Album In September; Details Revealed

YETI ON HORSEBACK To Release Debut Album In September; Details Revealed

Doom band Yeti On Horseback have announced that they will release their debut album, The Great Dying, on September 30th. The album will available on CD and digital formats via Medusa Crush Recordings.

The band have only been in existence for only a few short years, but have already managed to create a huge buzz in their local scene: They have headlined shows with packed out crowds and won the Jack Richardson Music award for heavy metal in 2014.

Yeti On Horseback is an almighty roaring musical beast that refuses to be silenced and lives to give audiences an alternative perspective on metal. Their sound contains howling vocals over doom-laden riffs that slice through the heart of formulaic music and hail bands like Sleep, Electric Wizard, Yob and the Melvins.

Yeti On Horseback hail from London, Ontario and live to forge a sound as unique and original as it is lethal and intoxicating. Their misanthropic sludge is laid over a musical foundation of soul-crushing riffs that flow freely from their dedication to all that is heavy. They aim to keep their sound wretched through the annihilating atmosphere and visceral lyrics they inject into every track.

The band has established themselves as a premiere live act on a musical warpath. Because of their unforgiving work ethic and devastating live show, the band won the Jack Richardson Music Award and S.C.E.N.E. Magazine Award for Best Metal in 2014. This is how the band has shared the stage with established veterans like Sons Of Otis, Castle and Cauldron within their first year of existence.

With their new full-length album about to drop, the band is casting themselves in a new shade of darkness to allow every new song to become assimilated into their gargantuan sound. Fans should prepare themselves to hear doom metal as they never have before as Yeti On Horseback reinforce their godlessly savage mantra “We Tune Low & Play Slow.”

Yeti On Horseback is:

RP - Vocals/Guitar/Lyrics
MS - Guitar
NS - Bass
SR - Drums
Satan - Inspiration

DESIRE THE FIRE Working On Debut EP With FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, HELLYEAH Engineer Shawn McGhee

DESIRE THE FIRE Working On Debut EP With FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, HELLYEAH Engineer Shawn McGhee

Within only a few weeks of forming, Desire The Fire has begun working with accomplished engineer, Shawn McGhee (Five Finger Death Punch, In This Moment, Papa Roach, Hellyeah, Disturbed). D.T.F. has developed into a powerhouse lineup with songs destined for radio charts. Packing venues early on is a testament to the band’s caliber of talent and star power.

After taking a personal interest in the band, producer Shawn McGhee recorded the EP with Desire The Fire at the legendary Las Vegas recording studio, The Hideout. “Shawn was our essential missing ingredient,” says lead vocalist Cody Elliott. “We came into the studio as a band of brothers with these songs, we have determination to make our voice known to the world. Shawn has made us all tighter as a band, we look forward to growing as musicians and as members of this family.”

D.T.F.’s live show is no joke either! Brutal sounds mixed with tremendous theatrics has become the recipe fans are flocking to see. “The reason everyone comes to our show is to see what we will do next,” says Elliott. “Everything we do is spontaneous and in the moment. We NEVER plan out our performances and that’s what makes us real.”

Hundreds of fans are packing into clubs just to get a glimpse of the next big thing in rock and metal. D.T.F. is finally giving radio its balls back with their gang-like mentality and high energy songs. Appealing to the masses, they’ve also cultivated quite the following with their theatrical performances. Desire The Fire is, without a doubt, the total package.

Lineup:
Cody Elliott – vocalist
Dylan Dice – guitar
Paul Draven – guitar
Michael James – bass

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY drummer Reed Mullin has been forced to leave the band's tour with CLUTCH and LAMB OF GOD after suffering an alcohol-related seizure.

Mullin fell ill just as C.O.C. was preparing to take the stage in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Sunday night (June 5). He was temporarily replaced at the gig by CLUTCH drummer Jean Paul Gaster and LAMB OF GOD's Chris Adler.

Comments CORROSION OF CONFORMITY bassist/vocalist Mike Dean: "[Reed's seizure] was preceded by prolonged, extreme and unhealthy levels of alcohol consumption, not taking care of himself and who knows what else.

"Reed has been unwell for awhile and we are praying he gets the help he needs and that he seek treatment for alcohol and drug dependency, not to mention general lifestyle assistance.

"This tragic event echoes a nearly identical incident In Pttsburgh a few years back, where Reed had a seizure just before taking the stage when the three-piece version of the band were also opening for CLUTCH. Both instances were preceded by concerns about Reed's well being and appearance. That incident resulted in five canceled shows. So years of assurances go by and we come full circle back to the same avoidable tragedy.

"This time we are leaving Reed with the medical experts in Edmonton and pressing on with the help of Jean Paul Gaster and Chris Adler, who quickly learned some songs. The show went on and will go on but we will not enable Reed to continue killing himself on our watch.

"Again we ask everyone for prayers for Reed and understanding for our predicament. All the best to everyone and Reed get help."

The tour hits Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada tonight (Monday, June 6) and wraps up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 9.

KING DIAMOND's November 25, 2015 and November 28, 2015 live shows in Philadelphia and Detroit, respectively, were flmed for the band's forthcoming DVD. The set is being helmed by director Denise Korycki (CANNIBAL CORPSE, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE), and will include additional footage from multiple shows throughout the band's most recent North American trek.

KING DIAMOND performed its classic second album, 1987's concept effort "Abigail", in its entirety on the band's latest U.S. tour.

"Dreams Of Horror", a 2xCD collection of KING DIAMOND songs, newly enhanced into ultimate editions by King Diamond and Andy La Rocque themselves, sold around 1,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release.

Released in November 2014, "Dreams Of Horror" is the only "best-of" album covering the band's entire career. King Diamond and Andy La Rocque meticulously mastered and enhanced these 23 songs into the ultimate editions, chosen by the band from both the Roadrunner and Metal Blade catalogs.

Swedish bassist Pontus Egberg (THE POODLES, LION'S SHARE, ZAN CLAN) joined KING DIAMOND following the departure of Hal Patino.

King, 59, whose real name is Kim Bendix Petersen, underwent open-heart triple-bypass surgery in November 2010. He has since completed his cardiac rehabilitation program and has stopped smoking entirely, changed his diet and is getting regular exercise.

WHITE EMPRESS - "New Management, New Booking, New Blood"

WHITE EMPRESS - "New Management, New Booking, New Blood"

White Empress, led by former Cradle Of Filth guitarist Paul Allender, recently parted ways with vocalist Mary Zimmer. They have issued the following update:

"Heads up that new stuff will be up very very soon. First up will be the new photo shoot we did for the new direction, track and video to follow. We are just about to start writing the new album (we are all very excited about the new direction) to come out on Peaceville Records. Once that is done festivals will be booked. I'll keep you all posted to the very awesome future that is in store for White Empress. New management, new booking and new blood, damn awesome. You will LOVE it!!"

Following is Zimmer's statement regarding her departure from the band.

"So, it's not easy for me to post this but the attached video is me announcing my resignation as the singer for White Empress. It was not an easy decision to leave the band, but it was necessary. I decided to make a video for you guys so that you could actually hear the tone of my voice as I'm speaking about my reasons. My most poignant statements are toward the end of the video. This time, I'm not giving up or taking a break from music like I did for the years between Luna Mortis and White Empress. I'm launching a new band right away with Erik EazyTattoos Lockaby called Santa Marta: The Band and the first video teaser is at the end of my video below. Also you can click on the link and check out the band page and more.

Please watch this video to see what I have to say... I do mention this in the video but though I have left, I did still complete the upcoming EP for White Empress with photos and videos. I've already told them that I'd be fine if they wanted to release the EP with me on it, though, I have officially resigned. Basically I wasn't planning on quitting, so I'd love to see the hard work and time we put into the EP come to fruition, regardless. Largely, I'm cool with everyone in the band still and I'd like it if you'd still show them your support and avoid the online shit-talking. Please especially show your support to Adam Sagan as he continues his battle with cancer. Thank you all so much for everything and here's what I have to say:"

LACUNA COIL

LACUNA COIL's 'Delirium' Cracks U.S. Top 40

"Delirium", the new album from Italian heavy rockers LACUNA COIL, entered The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 33 with first-week sales of just over 13,000 units — nearly all from pure album sales. The set follows the No. 27-peaking "Broken Crown Halo", which also opened with around 13,000 copies back in 2014.

"Delirium" was released on May 27 through Century Media. The CD was recorded at BRX Studio in Milan between December 2015 and February 2016. The effort was produced by LACUNA COIL bassist and main songwriter Marco "Maki" Coti-Zelati, with engineering by Marco Barusso and additional assistance from Dario Valentini. Coti-Zelati also created the artwork for "Delirium", which is based on an atmospheric session captured by Italian photographer Alessandro Olgiati.

Speaking about the heavier musical direction of"Delirium" compared to some of the recent LACUNA COIL records, vocalist Cristina Scabbia told Planetmosh: "We already had the feeling that this would be a much heavier record, just because we… You see it, when you start to write music, to put down the new compositions, you kind of see the general direction. Of course, everything can change, but at the very beginning, we started to work on something more heavy. And plus, we just realized that even during the live shows, we were enjoying much more to perform the most energetic songs out of the LACUNA COIL catalog. So we definitely wanted to do something different, not only compared to the previous records we did — at least the last ones — but we wanted to do something pretty different from the bands that, in our genre, were doing, in a way, because maybe fans and press, whatever, people were expecting us to go softer and maybe more into a rock direction while we went the other way around and made it heavy. I'm happy that this record is surprising a lot of people — really happy — 'cause that's kind of the reaction that we were hoping for."

Added singer Andrea Ferro: "That's also one of the reasons why we opened the record with a song like 'The House Of Shame', which is one of the heaviest songs of the record. We really wanted people to say, 'What is this? Is it LACUNA COIL really?' That's exactly the effect that we wanted. We wanted this record to be just another record, just because we have to put it out. We wanted it to be something that said, 'Okay, this is LACUNA COIL in 2016, opening a new chapter in their career and just showing that they're still interested in experimenting with their music,' and going places we haven't been so far."

On the topic of the "Delirium" album title, Cristina said: "The title came from… It actually came out while we were working on the 'Delirium' song; there's a song on the record that has the same title. And while we were working on music and lyrics at the same time, this word popped out and came out and opened a lot of doors, and we started to think about the whole Universe. We thought about the overall idea, we thought about the location, we imagined this asylum, this fictional asylum based on a real abandoned asylum that we visited. So it really came out during the songwriting. It's something that came out in such a weird way, because it really, really let it all start."

Added Andrea: "Basically, once we found the word, we thought about connecting the concept of the record, the concept of the mental illness with the smaller topic of everyday craziness — the craziness you experience personally every day in real life. Some of us went through some depression, some other people had some family problem that forced them to experience a different moment in their life. And so we played with the symptoms and we did a bit of research about the characteristics of each mental illness and then drag it into this concept, which is we imagined a sanitorium, a LACUNA COIL sanitorium, like the record, basically, and every song is like a room of the sanitorium where a patient is facing a different kind of illness. So, for example, in the song 'You Love Me 'Cause I Hate You', we took inspiration from the Stockholm Syndrome, which is when you fall in love with a person that is keeping you prisoner. But, of course, we've never been kept prisoners, so the real story is about a love story, a relationship where you are imprisoned, and even if you know it's very toxic for you, you can't get out of it, because you think it's the right thing, so you try everything possible to save it, to make it work, although you know it's not gonna happen. So this is the kind of metaphors we've been using once we found the concept, basically."

LACUNA COIL has recruited Diego Cavallotti as a fill-in guitarist for the band following the recent departure of Marco "Maus" Biazzi.

Biazzi left LACUNA COIL in January, explaining in a statement: "I felt I couldn't add more in this project any longer so I decided to leave my second family, LACUNA COIL, to take a different path for a new challenge in my life.

DEATH ANGEL

DEATH ANGEL's 'The Evil Divide' Cracks U.S. Top 100

"The Evil Divide", the eighth album from San Francisco Bay Area metallers DEATH ANGEL, entered The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 98 with first-week sales of just over 6,000 units — nearly all from pure album sales. The set follows the No. 72-peaking "The Dream Calls For Blood", which opened with around 5,400 copies back in 2013.

Comments DEATH ANGEL vocalist Mark Osegueda: "We would like to thank everyone out there who contributed to the success of our first-week's sales of 'The Evil Divide'! An album we worked very hard on, and are very proud of! Thank you for keeping our passion and dreams alive! The music industry is not for the meek, and we appreciate you all for continually instilling strength in us to give it our all, and give you our best!"

"The Evil Divide" was released on May 27 via Nuclear Blast. The CD was once again recorded at AudioHammer studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, DEICIDE), who previously worked on 2010's "Relentless Retribution" and 2013's "The Dream Calls For Blood". Mastering duties were handled by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in New York City. The cover artwork was created by Tyrrell.

DEATH ANGEL guitarist Rob Cavestany told I Probably Hate Your Band about how "The Evil Divide" compares to "Relentless Retribution" and "The Dream Calls For Blood": "'The Evil Divide' is an evolution and departure from those two albums. Initially, it was going to be a Part 3, but the album went in its own direction, and there was no point in trying to force a connection, so we let it become its own monster, and I'm very happy it became that way."

Cavestany also talked about DEATH ANGEL's continued working relationship with Suecof. He said: "We get along great, both personally and in a working relationship. Our co-producing team seems to be quite a fine match, and we figured we would be able to outdo what we had done before, because we're used to it, and everything about our chemistry is on fire. So, yeah, we set out to outdo what we had done before."

Regarding the songwriting process for "The Evil Divide", Cavestany said: "I [got] the chance to write at home more. But part of it was written on the road, and practically all of it was influenced by the road. I wrote some of it at home after we finished 'The Dream Calls For Blood', then wrote a bit while we were out on tour for that album, and mostly decided to soak up the inspiration from being on tour and travelling. Then in the final six weeks before entering the recording studio, I cranked out the second half of the album."
