IRON MAIDEN - Porsche Panamera Inspires Violin Cover Of "The Trooper"; Video Streaming

Because the German company makes huge profits on every car it sells and perhaps just because it has the coolest fans in the world, Porsche's commercials and promo videos are high-budget creations, sometimes as thrilling as the 911 itself.

AutoEvolution reports: "Before we involuntarily turn this into an advertorial, let's talk about the video at hand, put together to promote the Panamera range. Because this four-door combines the luxury cabin of a limousine with the performance of a sportscar, it got Porsche wondering what other kind of thrilling contradiction exists in this world. The answer they came up with is a classical take on famous rock power anthem "The Trooper", by Iron Maiden.

Now, we're sure most of you guys have seen classical instruments used to play modern songs, like the Batman themes played by The Piano Guys, which we showed you a few weeks ago. Porsche's version is just as good and adds an extra dynamic layer using the burble of a 4.8-liter twin-turbo V8. You all know what car we're talking about, right?

Released in 1983, "The Trooper" is Iron Maiden's ninth single and the second from their album Piece Of Mind. The song was written by bassist and founding member Steve Harris and is based on the Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava. The lyrics are inspired by a poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson, taking the viewpoint of a slain British soldier.

Just because we're nice, we'll tell you that the car in our video is the 2014 Panamera Turbo, packing a 520 horsepower 4.8-liter twin-turbo engine. Though the magic of PDK, all-wheel drive and launch control, this thing will rocket from 0 to 100 km/h in only 3.9 seconds. To put that into perspective, a 911 Carrera 4S requires 4.1 seconds of your time to do the same thing."
