GHOST Is Contemplating Recording New EP, Says Nameless Ghoul

A Music Blog, Yea? conducted an interview with one of the Nameless Ghouls from Swedish occult rockers GHOST on October 1 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. You can now watch the chat below.

Asked if there are any plans for GHOST to record a new EP similar to 2013's "If You Have Ghost", which was produced by Dave Grohl and included cover versions of four songs from other acts, the Nameless Ghoul responded: "We don't really know. We have a list of songs that we want to record that was initially on the list, basically, to record together with the [latest GHOST] album ['Meliora']. But the way that the material for the album also took a lot of time to pre-produce and to write and arrange and the recording ended up being a procedure that allowed for very little extra material. Whereas many bands go into the studio and they record seventeen songs, choose thirteen and then leave the rest as an extra topping later, we never really got to do that. We had one song ['Zenith'] that was sort of taken out of the main album and added as an extra track, but we never ended up with a long list of stuff that we can just portion out. So that leaves us now in a moment where we're trying to figure out: should we record an EP? When are we supposed to do that? We are basically on tour from now until December '16, so it's a long tour. And do we wanna clutter up any sort of spare time that we have recording. Which is always… In theory, that feels very okay, but when it comes into practice and all of sudden it's January 2nd and you're really tired and you just don't wanna have to do anything, and all of a sudden you're booked into the studio… So we're trying to figure out what is a good and valuable, meaningful release. Because we don't wanna just record another 'Grohl' EP and just repeat the same thing. It has to be something different. So, yeah, that's where we are right now."

GHOST's third album, "Meliora", entered The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 8 with first-week sales of just over 29,000 units — nearly all from pure album sales. The set follows the No. 28-peaking "Infestissumam", which was released in 2013 and has sold almost 70,000 copes in the U.S. to date.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

"Meliora" was released on August 21 via Loma Vista Recordings. The CD was helmed by Klas Åhlund, a prolific songwriter, producer and guitarist who is also a member of the Swedish rock band TEDDYBEARS, and was mixed by Andy Wallace (SLAYER, NIRVANA, SEPULTURA, LINKIN PARK, GUNS N' ROSES).
