MARTY FRIEDMAN Performs "Undertow" For EMGtv; Video Streaming

In the new video below, metal guitar icon Marty Friedman performs "Undertow" live on EMGtv.

Known for his solo work, years in Megadeth, and beside fellow guitar virtuoso, Jason Becker in Cacophony; Marty brings dynamics and soul like no other in his genre. With the EMG 81X and EMG 60X humbuckers you can hear all of the nuance and style in Marty's guitar playing. From his subtle bends to rich vibrato, these pickups truly highlight Marty’s dynamic approach to the instrument.

Friedman recently spoke with Metal Wani Editor in Chief Owais 'Vitek' Nabi. The audio interview is divided into two parts.

In Part 1, Marty discusses the last leg of his US Tour, fan response, why he wrote solo albums meant to be played live, the metal scene in Japan, why Japanese musicians love to fuse metal in pop and other genres, and how responsive people are to various kinds of music.

Marty also talks about why Babymetal has a unique sound and pays homage to great heavy metal bands. Marty also throws light on the recording process of Inferno, why he decided to release it internationally, how he managed to survive from past three decades keeping up with the changes in the music industry in mind, and his advice on how to survive in music.

In Part 2, Marty discusses longevity, why he doesn’t like to shake hands with anyone, why he lacks the skill of playing with new gears, why it’s important to learn music theory and advanced gear gods like Devin Townsend, etc. Marty also talks about playing in Megadeth and the unique sound they created by experimenting without any fear, Metallica’s Black album and why metal is still fresh and exciting with new bands coming up. Marty also throws light on upcoming new live DVD, documentary on Japan and entering the studio in April for an early 2017 release.
