METALLICA Is Preparing Deluxe Versions Of '…And Justice For All' And 'Black' Albums

METALLICA is preparing deluxe remastered versions of its "…And Justice For All" (1988) and "Metallica" albums and is reaching out to its hardcore fans for help to get content for the new editions.

Says the band in a social media post: "With the deluxe box sets of 'Kill 'Em All' and 'Ride The Lightning' behind us, and 'Master Of Puppets' less than a month away, it's time to start trudging forward with '…And Justice For All' and 'Metallica'.

"As you may remember, we asked you for help in putting together the first three box sets and, to make sure there's a fan footprint on all of these releases, we'll be doing that again! We're looking for anything and everything you might have from August 1987 through July 1993… photos (taken by you!), flyers, ticket stubs, backstage passes and whatever other mementos you may have from that time. Also, if you happened to interview James [Hetfield], Lars [Ulrich], Kirk [Hammett] or Jason [Newsted] during that time and still have the recording, please let us know!

"Make your mark on these albums by emailing us at [email protected] to share your story and receive more info about submitting these little pieces of history. Nothing is too small or too trivial… share your archives with your fellow fans and have some fun with us walking down memory lane."

While "...And Justice For All" is considered one of METALLICA's classics, it has been criticized almost since the day it was released in 1988 for the lack of any bass guitar on the record. Jason Newsted's playing is virtually buried in the mix — and many fans feel that drummer Lars Ulrich, who had very specific ideas for how he wanted his drums to sound, is to blame.

"...And Justice For All" was Jason Newsted's first full-length album with METALLICA after he replaced late bassist Cliff Burton in 1986.

The album was the first by the band to sell more than a million copies and featured their first radio hit, "One", which was also the basis of the group's first music video.

The record was nominated for the first-ever Grammy for "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance", but infamously lost to JETHRO TULL's "Crest Of A Knave".

METALLICA's self-titled LP in 2014 became the first album to sell 16 million copies since Nielsen SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991.

"Metallica" was already certified 16 times platinum on December 13, 2012 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association Of America) for shipments in excess of 16 million copies in the U.S.

The album in 2009 surpassed SHANIA TWAIN's 1997 record, "Come On Over", as the best-selling CD of the SoundScan era.

The album was the first of four collaborations with producer Bob Rock, with whom the band clashed throughout the recording of the disc.

METALLICA performed "the black album" in its entirety at a number of European festivals in 2012.

они же ее задвинули на стадии записи, а так бы Расмуссен давно бы слил хотя бы один трек. Ждите демки ремастированные с расчетом перезаписи баса Трухиличем. Не верю я, что за столько лет, после того, как Джэйсон полнгстью влился в коллектив, не попытались хотя бы один трэк ремастировать при наличии мастер пленки.

Justice и без баса ох..телен!
Общее звучание гитар и барабанов вполне гармонично - без баса "басов" хватает!

А про то, что бас задвинут узнал когда альбом до дыр был заслушан на кассете)

Бас задвинули при сведении, Расмусен говорил, что там шикарный бас был, а Ларс потребовал убрать громкость. На Ютубе есть куча ремастеров, где слышен бас, кстати.
