Fleshgod Apocalypse

Its Majesty the Brutality

Prologue
Fleshgod Apocalypse
Hello, Paolo. You won't believe, but when we've been preparing the questions for the interview which we were planning to take in Minsk, we wanted to ask the following, I quote it: "Today you crossed our border. Have some opinion about our customs? We are asking because there were accidents when musicians were stopped for a long time and that caused concerts cancellations." And now all we know, that not only Minsk concert but also almost all Russian tour was cancelled... Ufff, your comments, explantions, opinion about all this shit that's happening.

First of all, hi everybody! We're very sorry that we couldn't play in Minsk, and all the other russian cities.
Customs tried to fuck us in every possible way and we found ourselves crossing Belarus controlled by policemen till Russian border. After they stopped us for almost 15 hours thay asked us for money to continue our trip. It's a fucking shame, our documents were allright and they don't gave a fuck about that. We toured the Balcans last year, whit God Dethroned, many extra-UE countries, never a problem. I think somebody have to report this shit, otherwise there can't be solution about that and nobody would risk to play in that area, this totally sucks.

Fleshgod Apocalypse
Your tour schedule is so solid. Maybe the gig cancellation despite the disappointment is a rest for you, which is pleasant in some sense?

I didn't get your question! For us is always a shame to cancel one gig, we need to play as much as possible, for us and for the people who like our music, above all.

Well, and how did you like the gig in Moscow, Moscow fans?

Moscow gig was excellent, even if we played in a very hard situation, with a Russian policeman controlling us on stage, with no food and no sleep at all for 2 days. We wanna thank Moscow fans for they support, they're great and they showed us their great appreciation for the band!

If once you get a proposition of another tour in our region, will you agree without delay or you'll have to think about it?

Our goal is to re-schedule a tour on that area. But it will be by plane, and train, I'm sorry but it's the only way to avoid the greed of fucking policemen and customers.

OK, let's finish with this unpleasant topic. Sorry for this question, but we have to ask it as the band isn't well known in our country. Tell us the history of FLESHGOD AP
Fleshgod Apocalypse
OCALYPSE. Just in few words, if you want.

Fleshgod Apocalypse is born in 2007, we have 3 albums right now, Da vinci death code (a split with other 3 italian bands), Oracles (our first full-lenght) and Mafia (our upcoming EP), after some line up changes we toured all Europe with God Dethroned first, then with Vader and Marduk and recently with Suffocation. That's it!

What does FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE mean? Does this moniker symbolise something, whose idea it was?

Fleshgod Apocalypse is the apocalypse, the end, of the the god of flesh that's mankind itself. Our monicker is an advise of what can happen if mankind would stop fighting against all the evil powers that try to bind us, religion, mafia, corruption...

Some words about your debut album "Oracles". Give us a little digression into the process of composing these songs, working in studio etc.

Francesco (our drummer) wrote all the structures of the songs, and then the band helps him in the process of arrangement and all the other stuff, usually we enter the studio with all the songs ready, but we can modify some stuff even during the recording session!

The classic
Fleshgod Apocalypse
al elements on your album are just amazing. Whose idea was to put them into metal and what is their aim in general?

Francesco had the idea to do that, the aim is to create something majestic and at the same time different from all the other stuff around.

I suppose, that you like some Russian classical composers, don't you?

Tchaikovsky! Of course, among many others!

Soon you will release EP "Mafia". Is it similar to "Oracles" or there will be some innovations?

There are many innovations on Mafia, but our style is highly remarkable!

Great. "Mafia" will be released in month. And do you have some plans for further future? Which are the goals of FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE?

Tour the U.S. as soon as possible, than we'll start working on our second full-lenght.

As far as we understood your lyrics have anti-religion concept. For example in the first song there are notes about "corrupted
priests"... What do you think about current scandal touching catholic priests and the Pope himself which is connected with pedophilia and children abuse?

We think that
Fleshgod Apocalypse
religion is just a way to control humanity. Don't you know about the Opium of the people? It's all like that. Obviously the pedophilia is just a minimum part of the abuses that the church perform to all the people.

Your lyrics are full of anti-religion messages. This topics are widely used in lots genres of metal music (death, black, thrash, even? heavy metal). Don't you think that only your music is the most convenient to your lyrics? Or in general that death metal is the best way to speak about all these things?

We spoke against the church on our first full-lenght. But we won't talk about that forever! I think we'll change topics albums by albums, it's pretty boring to talk about the same stuff for the whole career, don't you think?
For example, in Mafia, there are no religion topics, only a declaration of war against corruption, racketeering and cospiracies of silence...

Almost all of you participate in number of bands. For us it was quite difficult to understand which band is your main band and which one is a side-project...

Fleshgod Apocalypse is surely a full time band. Each one of us treat the other projects as they want..For example, I play al
Fleshgod Apocalypse
so in Airlines of Terror, but just for recording session!

As I've noticed, today we can see lots of great technical and progressive death metal bands to release very good albums. I mean the veterans as CYNIC, SADIST, GNOSTIC and new bands as GOROD, OBSCURA and many more. Didn't you noticed the same thing? Can we call it "a trend"?

I don't know if it's a trend or not, the only thing I know is that we don't like so much to be classified as technical death metal.
We play extreme metal music, that's all!

There is a word "Apocalypse" in the name of your band... Do you believe in Apocalypse, especially the most popular its version - 2012?

Who will live, will see! I can't care less, sincerly! We are going to destroy our world in many other ways by now...

OK. Imagine if you were god or someone like this and had an opportunity to create your own Apocalypse. Which ways you would choose to make it?

As I told you, there would be no mercy for all the corruptors, criminals, stolers, and all the shitty people that try to fuck the poor ones.

You know, the way in which you make your music
Fleshgod Apocalypse
is rather brutal, technical yet beautiful. I have an opinion that it's connected with your origin - Italian history, nature, climate, rich cultural legacy - it all makes people see and create beautiful things just like
instinctively...

I think Italy is a wonderful country but with many problems. We are influenced surely by both things..

As far as we know, SUFFOCATION is one your favorite bands. And you've just toured with them. It was a dream coming true?

Obviously it was! It was great to tour with them, they are very GREAT guys, and so talented musicians!

There is an opinion that when someone plays an instrument, the instrument changes a bit, it sounds a little different than it used to sound. So the human makes an influence to an instrument. How do you think, is there any feedback from instrument to musician?

Everybody as his own "touch" on a instrument, it depends by the musical background, by the feelings he feels when he plays and many other things...Yes, it's defenitly true!

Sometimes it happens that when I listen to a some kind of music I have a strong association with color, smell, picture or something else. That's not so easy to describe. For example black metal can be associated with frosty winter, or some NILE songs are associated - just for me - with heavy winds in the desert. Do you have some similar feelings sometimes? And what's your opinion, which associations should the music of FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE create?

Fleshgod Apocalypse is a sea-storm, I guess! Ahah!

So, that is all. All we can ask from you is you final speech to our readers.

Hi there, we hope one day to tour your countries, we are so sorry for what's happened. Cheers to all Russian and Belarussian metalheads, and fuck all the shitty customers.
