TUSMÖRKE To Release Riset Bak Speilet In May

TUSMÖRKE To Release Riset Bak Speilet In May

Svart Records has announced May 16th as the international release date for TUSMÖRKE’s Riset Bak Speilet.

A Norwegian group, Tusmörke (”Twilight”) is a strange beast. With roots stretching deep into the Scandinavian neo-progressive rock underground of the early '90s, the identical Momrak twins recorded a Tusmörke demo in 1997 but soon put the band on hiatus for several years. Tusmörke returned in 2009 with a full electric lineup, and the debut album, Underjordisk Tusmorke, appeared three years later.
May sees the dark minstrels return with a sophomore album, Riset Bak Speilet (The Birch Behind The Looking Glass). A 50-minute transmission from the heart of the darkest northern forests, the album skillfully channels the spirit of classic British acid folk rock and soaks it in a black witches cauldron. The spellbinding concoction is at times reminiscent of classic acts like JETHRO TULL and INCREDIBLE STRING band, and also not entirely far off from modern forest magicians such as HEXVESSEL and WOLF PEOPLE.

Cover and tracklisting are as follows:
‘Offerpresten’
‘Gamle Aker Kirke’
‘Black Swift’
‘All Is Lost’
‘Riset Bak Speilet’
‘Mener Vi Alvor Nå?’ (CD bonus track)
‘Kairo’ (CD bonus track)
‘En Verden Av I Går’ (CD bonus track)

KISS: Better-Quality Footage Of ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME Induction Speeches

KISS: Better-Quality Footage Of ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME Induction Speeches

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's Tom Morello inducted KISS into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame on Thursday, April 10 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The guitarist told the crowd, "You can kiss my KISS-loving ass because KISS wasn't a critics' band. It's the people's band." He added: "Tonight proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the high school bullies and critics were wrong. KISS fans were right. Impact, influence and awesomeness — KISS have all three in spades." He concluded by saying: "Tonight, this isn't the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. It's the Rock And Roll All Nite And Party Every Day Hall Of Fame."

After that, the four members of the original KISS lineup took turns in addressing the crowd.

Newly uploaded video footage of the KISS acceptance speeches can be seen below (courtesy of EddieTrunk.com).

Gene Simmons: "We are humbled — all of us — to stand up on this stage and do what we love doing.

"This is a profound moment for all of us.

"We are humbled that the fans gave us the chance to do what we love doing. And so I'm here just to say a few kind words about the four knuckleheads who, 40 years ago, got together and decided to put together the band that you see on stage, critics be damned.

"To Ace Frehley: his iconic guitar playing has been imitated, but never duplicated, by generations of guitar players around the world.

"To Peter Criss, whose drumming and singing... Well, there's not a guy out there who beats the sticks who sounds just like Peter. Nobody's got that swing and that style.

"Something happened, 40 years ago: I met the partner and the brother I never knew I had — Paul Stanley. You couldn't ask for someone more awesome to be on the same team. I am humbled.

"I was going to say a few kind words about Eric Carr, rest in peace. Mark St. John, rest in peace. Vinnie Vincent, the great Bruce Kulick, and of course, here we are 40 years later with the great Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer, and we continue on.

"However, we wouldn't be here today without the initial Fantastic Four.

"God bless you all.

"May I introduce the powerful and attractive — Peter Criss!"

Peter Criss: "I want to say it's great to be home in Brooklyn.

"I'd like to thank the Hall Of Fame for this honor; I never thought this could happen in my life. Thank you.

"I'd like to thank everybody that had to do something with my career and the band's career. For 50 years, I've been doing it; 40 years, we've been doing it. Jesus — from the grips, to the truck drivers, to the great producers, to the great managers, to the great people who were just all there for us through all the years and the hard times. God bless you and thank you so much.

"I definitely want to thank our first manager, Bill Aucoin. We would not be here if it wasn't for Bill. Sean Delaney, the great Joyce Bogart, and the great Neil Bogart — who with Casablanca Records... Those were the great days, and I thank them all.

"I'd like to congratulate the band, of course — Mr. Stanley, Mr. Simmons, and the one and only Spaceman, Ace Frehley.

"I'd also like to say I'm now seven years male breast cancer-free. Thank you — I'm very proud that I have... [I would like to thank] my doctor, who saved my life in the first place. Thank you so much.

"I would like to thank my family — my sister Donna who I know is out there. All my friends who have come...and God, I'd be here all night. I'd like to thank my lovely wife Gigi, who makes my life really, really a lot easier. Lemme tell ya: walking through life with her is a blessing. I love you, baby.

"I got my first lesson from my best friend, Jerry Nolan of the NEW YORK DOLLS. And boy, that's what started it all off.

"I want to say that, even out of makeup, I'll always be the Catman.

"God bless each and every one of you — I will remember this the rest of my life. Thank you so much.

Ace Frehley: "I have a speech here, but these [glasses] aren't prescription, so I can't work it out. [laughs]

"It's so great to be here with all these celebrities and other musicians.

"I want to thank Paul, Gene and Peter.

"Thank you so much, Tom, for that beautiful introduction.

"I want to thank the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for inducting us; thank you very much.

"When I was 13 years old, I picked up my first guitar, and I always sensed that I was going to be in for something big. Little did I know, a few years later, there it was. I experienced the Summer of Love. [Laughs] Alright. That was before I met these clowns. Several years later, we got together — you know the story, it's all KISS-tory.

"A few quick names — Bill Aucoin, Joyce Biawitz — who used to manage us in conjunction with Bill, then ended up marrying Neil Bogart. We wouldn't be here without Neil Bogart and Casablanca Records. Everyone at Casablanca Records, everyone at ATI, Jeff, and Wally. Everyone at the press office; Carol and Al Ross; Carol Kaye; just to name a few. If I named everyone who helped us through our career, I'd be here for another half an hour. It's great to be here.

"I wanted to touch on the fact that I've been sober now for seven and a half years. We still need to educate the people in this country about sobriety because some people think it has to do with willpower. But unfortunately, most addicts are born that way and people need to be educated about that.

"My sponsor, he used to have a good saying, to try and explain what it's like to be an addict: when people would say to use willpower, he'd say, 'Try using willpower when you're having diarrhea.'

"So, only by the grace of God I'm here. I want to thank my first wife Jeanette, my daughter, my current fiancée Rachael Gordon.

"Life's been good to me; hopefully I've got 10 or 20 more years to go. Thank you very much."

Paul Stanley: "I can make this short and sweet because everybody said everything and has been much funnier than I'll ever be.

"So, I got to thank Tom, who's championed us shamelessly and unapologetically. Took a lot of balls, and God bless you.

"For us, this is a special night, but it's really a special night for all of our fans — this is vindication. We couldn't have done this without you.

"To Peter, Ace, Gene — we are the original four, so we could not have done this if we didn't start this together.

"Everything we've done is built on the past.

"We've got a great, great legacy. We've got Bruce here, we've got Tommy, we've got Eric...

"When I first started listening to music, I was lucky: I saw a lot of people I loved. When I was a kid, I saw Solomon Burke, I saw Otis Redding, I got to see THE YARDBIRDS. I got to see LED ZEPPELIN; Jimi Hendrix; SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE; the list goes on and on. What I loved about all these musicians is that they had the spirit of rock and roll.

"I believe that the spirit of rock and roll means you follow your own path regardless of critics, and regardless of your peers. I think we've done that for forty years.

"Here we are tonight, basically inducted for the same things that we were kept out for.

"The people, I believe, are speaking to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and what they're saying is, 'We want more.' They deserve more. They want to be a part of the induction. They want to be a part of the nomination. They don't want to be spoon-fed by a handful of people. Choices. The people pay for tickets. The people buy albums. The people who nominate do not. Let's not forget that these are the people that make it all possible. We just benefit from it.

"So, I look out here and I see all these people. I see faces that over the years inspired me. People who made me what I am. So I am here tonight because of the people who inspired me, but I'm also here because of the people I inspired. So God bless you all; it's been a wonderful night."

Morello told Rolling Stone before the ceremony that he first saw KISS play when he was 12 and attended their shows religiously during his formative years. "I've known Gene and Paul for some time and I'm a huge fan of the band and have been an advocate — a noisy, fist-pounding advocate for years for KISS to be in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame," he said. "One of the all-time great bands is being rightly enshrined.

"When those records were released, focus was shifted because it was a band in makeup or because it was band with explosions," he added. "But those are great anthemic songs with badass riffs. There's a reason why KISS sold 100 million records around the world. There was no one spitting blood in your living room when you were listening to them. I was rocking out hard to them."

The 29th annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony was taped and will air on May 31 on HBO.

MISS MAY I:

MISS MAY I: 'Refuse To Believe' Lyric Video Released

The official lyric video for "Refuse To Believe", a new song from Ohio metallers MISS MAY I, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's fourth album, "Rise Of The Lion", which will be released on April 29 via Rise Records, the CD was produced by Terry Date, who has previously worked with PANTERA, DEFTONES, WHITE ZOMBIE and BRING ME THE HORIZON, among others.

MISS MAY I vocalist Levi Benton recently told Metal Hammer about the band's decision to work with Date: "We chose Terry because we’re all huge PANTERA freaks. If you ever get the chance to work with him, you take it! We've always wanted to work with him but we was always out of our price range. He's the Bentley of producers and we could only afford a Ford. [Laughs]"

Regarding the musical direction of MISS MAY I's new material, Benton said: "A lot of it could be considered leftfield for us. I won't go into detail because when you do that, people expect something that they may not particularly hear, but when we finished 'At Heart', we were all stoked and thought we'd thrown everything we had into it. After a couple of years touring and growing, we've come back to writing and have been adding different influences. There's some slower, heavier stuff, thrashier parts and no two songs sound the same. We're doing something to challenge ourselves and our listeners but please both, too." "Rise Of The Lion" track listing:

01. Refuse To Believe02. Lunatik03. Gone04. Echoes05. You Want Me06. Tangled Tongues07. Hero With No Name08. Darker Days09. The End Of Me10. Saints, Sinners, and Greats

"Rise Of The Lion" will be available in digital, physical CD and vinyl versions.

The worldwide release of "Rise Of The Lion" will be supported by a brief headline tour of the United States this April and May, with support from FOR THE FALLEN DREAMS. MISS MAY I will stop in eight cities, including a closer in their home state of Ohio at Rock On The Range.

PARADISE LOST Guitarist

PARADISE LOST Guitarist's VALLENFYRE: New Song 'Odious Bliss' Available For Streaming

VALLENFYRE, the U.K. death metal band featuring Gregor Mackintosh, songwriter and guitarist of PARADISE LOST, alongside members of MY DYING BRIDE, AT THE GATES and DOOM, will release its second full-length album, "Splinters", on May 12 in Europe and on May 13 in North America via Century Media Records. The CD's simple-yet-striking cover artwork was created by Brian D'Agosta, who previously drew a logo for VALLENFYRE bassist Scoot's other band, EXTINCTION OF MANKIND, as well as artwork for many other bands.

The album track "Odious Bliss" can be streamed below.

In 2011, Mackintosh announced that he would go back to his death metal roots with his new band, VALLENFYRE. The level of expectation was set high with a lineup consisting of Hamish Glencross (guitar; MY DYING BRIDE), Scoot (bass; DOOM, EXTINCTION OF MANKIND), Adrian Erlandsson (drums; AT THE GATES, PARADISE LOST, THE HAUNTED) local friend Mully (second guitar) — and, of course, Gregor on vocals (for the first time in his career!). Their debut, "A Fragile King", was a reference to Gregor's father's (lost) battle with cancer; the harrowing, crusty death-doom found on the album was hailed as "a beast of a record" (Terrorizer) and "a sonic force that bites deep and hard" (Decibel). Simply put, "A Fragile King" is "old school to the bone" (Rock Hard).

"VALLENFYRE was something I felt utterly compelled to do," Mackintosh said. "It was almost like I didn't have a choice.

"I was told by a bereavement counselor that I should write down and vocalize my feelings. I did just that and then everything just seemed to take a natural course."

In addition to being the main songwriter in PARADISE LOST, Greg stepped up to being the frontman for VALLENFYRE and sang for the first time, citing Karl Willetts (BOLT THROWER), Chuck Schuldiner (DEATH), Oscar Garcia (NAUSEA, TERRORIZER), Peter Steele (CARNIVORE, TYPE O NEGATIVE) as influences. "A Fragile King" turned out to be a heartfelt, cathartic and therapeutic release, which now finds it continuation on the even more abrasive and extreme second full-length, "Splinters".

Inspired by the likes of HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST, AUTOPSY, ANTISECT, DISCHARGE, NIHILIST, early NAPALM DEATH, early BATHORY and CONFLICT, VALLENFYRE digs deep into the roots of extreme music, yet due to Greg's infallible songwriting skills, as well as the organic and absolutely crushing sound courtesy of Kurt Ballou (CONVERGE, BLACK BREATH, BEASTMILK), "Splinters" is far away from mere nostalgia.

VALLENFYRE is:

Greg Mackintosh (PARADISE LOST) - Vocals, GuitarHamish Glencross (MY DYING BRIDE) - GuitarScoot (DOOM, EXTINCTION OF MANKIND) - BassAdrian Erlandsson (AT THE GATES, PARADISE LOST, THE HAUNTED) - Drums

New Clip From

New Clip From 'Super Duper ALICE COOPER' Documentary Posted Online

Eagle Rock Entertainment, in association with Banger Films, has announced the world premiere of "Super Duper Alice Cooper" at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), presented by AT&T, where it will screen as part of their Spotlight section. Taking us through his life and career, Alice presents his story in the first-ever "doc opera" film — a dizzying blend of documentary archive footage, animation, and rock opera.

Entertainment Weekly has revealedvery first exclusive clip of never-befor- seen footage from the film. Check it out at this location. Filmmaker Reginald Harkema comments on the segment: "This clip shows the exciting momentum the ALICE COOPER group gets swept up in when their iconic teen anthem 'I'm Eighteen' turns them into overnight sensations. The song 'Caught In A Dream' self-referentially soundtracks a swirl of images including limousines, gold records, airplanes, and lunatic teenagers."

"Super Duper Alice Cooper" will hit theaters nationwide beginning April 30. It is presented by Banger Films, in association with Eagle Rock Entertainment, and distributed to theaters and venues by SpectiCast. "Super Duper Alice Cooper" will screen in over 250 U.S. cinemas and venues following the April 17 premiere. A special pre-recorded "Keep Calm & Just Ask Alice" question-and-answer session and welcome from Alice will be included exclusively with each screening. "Super Duper Alice Cooper" is the twisted tale of a teenage Dr. Jekyll whose rock 'n' roll Mr. Hyde almost kills him. It is the story of Vincent Furnier, a preacher's son who struck fear into the hearts of parents as Alice Cooper, the ultimate rock star of the bizarre. From the advent of Alice as frontman for a group of Phoenix freaks in the '60s to the hazy decadence of celebrity in the '70s to his triumphant comeback as '80s glam metal godfather, we will watch as Alice and Vincent battle for each other's souls. Alice's story is told not only by the man himself, but through exclusive interviews with members of the original Alice Cooper band, Elton John, Iggy Pop, John Lydon and Dee Snider. "Super Duper Alice Cooper" is the creation of Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn at Banger Films, producers of "Iron Maiden: Flight 666" (2009 SXSW Audience Choice Winner) and "Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage" (2010 Grammy-nominated and Tribeca Audience Choice Winner), and much-lauded filmmaker Reginald Harkema, winner of the TIFF Special Jury Prize for his film "Monkey Warfare". In a 2012 interview with Spinner.com, Dunn stated about the Cooper documentary: "We know Alice through various projects that we've done. We interviewed Alice for 'Headbanger's Journey'. He's also featured pretty prominently in two episodes of [the new groundbreaking documentary series] 'Metal Evolution', both in [the] Shock Rock and Early Metal U.S. [episodes]. He's a pretty fascinating character, who has been through a lot in his life. He's one of those musicians that maybe he hasn't had a hit in a long time, but everyone knows who Alice Cooper is because of his influence on pop culture and the big songs he had in the '70s.

"We're exploring a different stylist approach with this film. It won't be talking heads; it's going to be more of an archival and animated journey through his career.

"He's such a rich visual artist, it makes so much sense to try and do it in a different way.

"I think we're just a little bit sick of doing talking head interviews, to be honest [laughs], after doing 300 of them for 'Metal Evolution'. So it's really the story of Alice's career from the '60s right up to the '80s and everything he went through — the ups and the downs, battles with alcoholism, being raised in a Christian family, rebelling against that but then coming back to faith later in his career, and moving from town to town, and trying to find his place."

Alice Cooper's latest album, "Welcome 2 My Nightmare", sold 18,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 22 on The Billboard 200 chart. Cooper's previous CD, 2008's "Along Came A Spider", opened with just under 10,000 copies to land at No. 53.

Recorded with longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin, who produced the original multi-platinum "Welcome To My Nightmare" album in 1975, "Welcome 2 My Nightmare" picks up right where they left off, with Alice trapped in his own warped mind.

THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA Featuring SOILWORK, ARCH ENEMY Members: Helsingborg Concert Footage

THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA Featuring SOILWORK, ARCH ENEMY Members: Helsingborg Concert Footage

Fan-filmed video footage of THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA — the new classic-rock band featuring Björn Strid (SOILWORK) and Sharlee D' Angelo (ARCH ENEMY, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS) — perfoming on March 29 at the A World Of Music Festival at The Tivoli in Helsingborg, Sweden can be seen below.

THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA's debut album, "Internal Affairs", was released in June 2012 via Coroner Records.

THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA started like so many others as an innocent yet serious drunken idea when Strid and David Andersson (MEAN STREAK, session musician for SOILWORK) were on the road together somewhere in North America in 2007. Björn and David were bonding over what they considered "classic" or not, from rock and roll conspiracies to being arrested in a lobby with nothing but leather pants on. All those scenarios, fictional or real, needed a soundtrack. They also came to think that whether you're on a metal tour or not, a lot of classic rock songs say it all and can really lend you a helping hand and make you forget about everything, especially when in motion or travelling. The classic escape. The never-ending road trip. The transatlantic night flight. It may sound simple and naive, but what it all comes down to is that we all need that soundtrack to feel extra special, whether you have been arrested in a lobby or not.

It didn't take long before bass player D' Angelo joined forces as well as keyboard player Richard Larsson (VON BENZO) and drummer Jonas Källsbäck (MEAN STREAK). The goal was to reclaim the '70s/early '80s sense for classic melody, the forgotten recipe to a timeless song, preferably a song mentioning a city, street name or an exhilarating alcoholic beverage. Anything that will have you spitting out the word "classic." From "Tarot Woman" to "Badlands", from "Rhiannon" to "Running on Empty", from "Blind Man" to "Night Moves", from "Deuce" to "Separate Ways", from "Elected" to "Set me Free". The list goes on. It's all about reclaiming the "classic."

THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA made its live debut in August, 2013 at Dina-scenen in Lidköping, Sweden.

RIVAL SONS:

RIVAL SONS: 'Open My Eyes' Track Available For Streaming

Long Beach, California's RIVAL SONS has released a brand new track from the band's forthcoming album, "Great Western Valkyrie". "Open My Eyes" is available immediately for everyone who pre-orders the album on iTunes, along with a previously released song, "Electric Man". Another new cut, "Good Things", will be available for instant grat download on May 17.

The iTunes version of the album also includes five exclusive bonus tracks which are available only to those who pre-order the album, and will not be available after release date.

The "Open My Eyes" song and commentary are available below.

"Great Western Valkyrie" will be released on June 10 in the USA (one day earlier internationally). The CD was recorded with producer Dave Cobb at LCS Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.

Comments RIVAL SONS frontman Jay Buchanan: "Every time we set out to make a record, the experience ends up being some of the old and some of the new. Same studio, same town, same on-spot writing/recording process with the same guys. Actually, not the same guys; we have a new bass player in Dave Beste, and we had my buddy Ikey Owens (THE MARS VOLTA, JACK WHITE) throw down some craziness on keys while he was in town.

"I'd like to think we became a little bit more of ourselves making this record and that the selection of influences has broadened a bit. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Miley during the recording; I believe his playing on this record is his most lyrical and musical yet and that's probably a direct reflection of Beste's fresh blood in the mix.

"Speaking of Beste, whoa. Thunder from his hands all over this album.

"I think Scott really expanded his approach in these songs and you can definitely hear it in the moodier tracks, while on the hot tracks you can hear him forcing his aviary of Firebirds to drink moonshine. Dangerous.

"There are some serious house burners on 'Great Western Valkyrie' but there are also a couple where thesis dictated more subtlety from the arrangement.

"My performance? I think it's more of the same on my end, but Cobb did tell me that my finest performances were given in these sessions, but what the fuck does he know?

"They say the truth is in the taste — I'd say this record is the filthy magazine hidden in the hymnal."

"Great Western Valkyrie" is available to pre-order now on digi-sleeve CD and limited-edition coloured vinyl, as well as an ultra-limited box set including the following:

* Double LP on limited clear vinyl with etched fourth side* Signed band photo insert* Custom vinyl slipmat* 5-bonus-track CD* Album cover t-shirt* Woven throw blanket* Album presentation box

An "Great Western Valkyrie" audio preview is available below.

TESLA To Release

TESLA To Release 'Simplicity' Album In June

Frontiers Records will release TESLA's brand new studio album, "Simplicity", on June 6 in Europe.

The Sacramento rockers are back with 14 new songs offering a ride of energy that doesn't come easy for a band of rookies much less a band whose been doing this for over 20 years. "Simplicity" is TESLA's seventh all-original studio album which follows a six-year creative break from the release of the previous album, "Forever More".

After a string of shows in the USA in 2013, the band went back into the studio in early 2014 and came out with a new album, which goes straight back to the TESLA roots. The bandmembers produced it themselves, as they did with "Into The Now", their successful comeback effort from 2004. Helped by the legendary Tom Zutaut, who was the man behind the best TESLA albums, this new CD rocks from start to finish, showing a variety of emotions where each song has its own twist — not sounding like another.

The first new song off the new album, "Taste My Pain", was released last summer digitally via iTunes and Amazon. The track was recorded during a two-day (June 5-6, 2013) session at J Street Recorders in Sacramento. The new song is, according to the band, "A heavier song with a hard-driving beat and TESLA trademark blazing guitars."

Guitarist Frank Hannon says about "Simplicity": "I must say that this new TESLA album is really gonna be awesome. We went in more prepared with the songs and ideas way more than 'Forever More', and the style is pure TESLA back to our roots. I truly believe you guys are gonna love it!"

"The opening track is called 'MP3'," continues Hannon, "and starts off with an opus intro that orchestrates into a heavy slow groove with lyrics about technology and how we miss simplicity, vinyl albums, family values...and has a heavy-ass riff! Then we segue into a rock and roll song called 'Ricochet' that talks about Uncle Ted... [I] can't wait to play this stuff live!”

EDGUY: Entire

EDGUY: Entire 'Space Police - Defenders Of The Crown' Album Available For Streaming

"Space Police - Defenders Of The Crown", the tenth studio album from German melodic metallers EDGUY, can be streamed in its entirety using the SoundCloud widget below. The effort will be released on April 18 via Nuclear Blast. In addition to the regular CD edition, the follow-up to 2011's "Age Of The Joker" will be made available as a limited digibook containing two CDs. Also available will be a strictly limited hardcover earbook collectors' edition (28.5x28.5cm) containing the two discs, a photographic history with more than 130 photos from the band's archive, liner notes, touring history, and more.

In a recent interview with RockRevolt magazine, Sammet stated about the making of "Space Police - Defenders Of The Crown": "I had been doing this huge tour with my all-star project AVANTASIA, playing three continents with a 12-piece band. When I came back [home] in August 2013, it just felt great to get back in the studio and write something to the point. No sophisticated TRANS-SIBERIAN-esque rock opera with conceptual stuff and guest vocals; I just wanted to produce a high-velocity heavy metal album with my bandmates. I guess the starvation for that turned the album into the monster it has become. It is so fresh, so heavy, so anthemic, the playing and production are outstanding, I guess it was because we forced a very tight schedule upon us, so we didn't have too much time to doubt, second-guess or fix things that didn't need to be retouched."

He added: "I really love the album; it's got so many beautiful details, so many smart elements, but down the line, it comes over you like a tank. I love it, and yes, I knew if we'd channel our skills, we could come up with something. This band has been existing for more than 22 years, and we still haven't reached our peak in a creative way."

"Space Police - Defenders Of The Crown" track listing:

01. Sabre & Torch02. Space Police03. Defenders Of The Crown04. Love Tyger05. The Realms Of Baba Yaga06. Rock Me Amadeus07. Do Me Like A Caveman08. Shadow Eaters09. Alone In Myself10. The Eternal Wayfarer

Bonus disc track listing:

Video: BRUCE DICKINSON, GLENN HUGHES, IAN PAICE Pay Tribute To Late DEEP PURPLE Keyboardist JON LORD

Video: BRUCE DICKINSON, GLENN HUGHES, IAN PAICE Pay Tribute To Late DEEP PURPLE Keyboardist JON LORD

Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION, CALIFORNIA BREED), Bruce Dickinson (IRON MAIDEN), Ian Paice (DEEP PURPLE), Don Airey (DEEP PURPLE, OZZY OSBOURNE, RAINBOW), Rick Wakeman (YES), and Micky Moody (WHITESNAKE) are among the musicians who celebrated late DEEP PURPLE keyboardist Jon Lord's life and music at a special concert on April 4 at London, England's Royal Albert Hall.

Hughes was joined on stage by Dickinson for both "You Keep On Moving" and a storming "Burn" with a mesmerizing keyboard solo from Wakeman, followed by Hughes alone backed by an orchestra for a roof-raising vocal delivery on "This Time Around".

Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below.

Jon Lord died on July 16, 2012 at age 71 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Lord, who was known for his keyboard virtuosity and his reinvention of the Hammond B-3 organ sound, co-wrote such PURPLE classics as "Smoke On The Water" and "Child In Time", among others. Lord and drummer Ian Paice were the only original members to last through the band's initial run from 1968 to 1976. He was on board for their 1984 reunion and stayed on through to his 2002 retirement from the band, after which he's worked primarily in the classical field.

Over the course of his career, Lord also worked with the ARTWOODS, FLOWER POT MEN, PAICE, ASHTON AND LORD, WHITESNAKE and good friend and neighbor, George Harrison.

In an interview with Peter Makowski, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich stated about Jon Lord: "I'm not sure that the people in today's hard rock world really truly understand how innovative this guy was. He wasn't just another keyboard player on the side of the stage. In '66/'67, when Hendrix, Townshend and Ritchie Blackmore were taking the electric guitar to a new level, by using banks of Marshall stacks beefing up the sound, Jon Lord was one of the first guys in hard rock to take the keyboards through the same process. He took a fairly standard instrument like a Hammond organ put it through amplifiers and Leslie cabinets and introduced a whole new way of forcing the sound out of the keyboards.

"Ritchie Blackmore said the other day that Jon formed DEEP PURPLE; he was certainly the instigator that made things happen. If not the musical leader, Jon was the spiritual leader of the band. He was a pioneer, and I think that somehow that's gotten a little lost in the last few [months]. People are talking about, obviously, what a gentleman he was and what a fantastic band member but he really did something nobody had done before with the sound of the keyboards and I think that's probably the biggest thing to remember him for."

CINDERELLA:

CINDERELLA: 'Stripped' Live Album Coming In May

Collectors Dream Records has set a May 16 release date for CINDERELLA's "Stripped". Recorded live over the course of two nights — October 2-3, 1998 — at the Key Club in Hollywood, California during the band's "Unfished Business" tour, the disc is comprised of 14 hard-rockin' and blues-based tracks; included as a bonus are two songs recorded live in 1991.

"Stripped" track listing:

01. The More Things Change02. Push Push 03. Gypsy Road 04. Fallin Apart At The Seams 05. Heartbreak Station 06. The Last Mile 07. Shelter Me 08. Coming Home 09. Hot And Bothered 10. Nightsongs 11. Nobody's Fool 12. Somebody Save Me 13. Shake Me14. Don't Know What You Got 15. Sick For The Cure (bonus track) 16. Make Your Own Way (bonus track)

In a September 2013 interview with the Syracuse Music Examiner, CINDERELLA frontman Tom Keifer was asked if there are any plans for the band to record a new studio album. "Well, we're on a hiatus," he said. "It's not for lack of desire on our part, I always say, but it's got to be the right situation. We've been burnt by the record companies a couple of times and that leaves a bad taste in your mouth when you've put a lot of work in it. It's really the reason why I decided to produce my [solo] album independent of a label; you create what you want and then you find a label who likes what you created and we found a great label that has been amazing in support of the album."

He continued: "From the record companies' perspective, if they're going to invest a bunch of money into making a record, you don't know what the record's going to be. So in this day and age of limited funds, because of the piracy of music, record companies don't have the same resources that they used to. Stepping in and paying for the record and then be responsible for all the marketing too… It just made sense to me to make the record I wanted to create and find a label that listens to the finished product and says, 'We're in.' And more and more people are doing it this way."

LOUDBLAST: New Song

LOUDBLAST: New Song 'A Bloody Oath' Available For Streaming

"A Bloody Oath", a brand new song from French death metal veterans LOUDBLAST, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's new album, "Burial Ground", which will be released in Europe on April 28 and the U.S. on June 10 via Listenable.

Three years ago, the "Frozen Moments Between Life And Death" CD proved to be LOUDBLAST's boldest move, recharged by the arrival of youngsters Alex Lenormand (bass, ex-LOCUS, CODE, SIC) and Drakhian (lead guitar, GRIFFAR, ex-TAAKE, BLACK DEMENTIA), guitaarits/vocalist Stéphane Buriez and his longtime drummer Hervé Coquerel threw all the rules out of the window without turning their backs on their roots.

The result of eighteen months of hard work, "Burial Ground" goes even further. A solid mix of classic old school reminiscent of early DEATH and CELTIC FROST and modern influences with a massive production and dark feel, it also dares transgressing their traditional thrash/death style of yore to achieve a much more malign yet as catchy sound.

The "Burial Ground" cover art was created by Will Kuberski of Worthless Endeavors, who also painted the INCANTATION "Vanquish In Vengeance" cover.

SABATON is currently touring the U.S. and Canada as direct support to American metallers ICED EARTH on their "Worldwide Plagues" North American trek. Opening each show on the six-week tour are Dutch metallers REVAMP (featuring NIGHTWISH singer Floor Jansen).

SABATON's new album, "Heroes", will be released on May 16 via Nuclear Blast Records. The cover artwork for the effort was created by Péter Sallai. A number of bonus tracks will be made available, including cover versions of songs originally written and recorded by METALLICA, BATTLE BEAST and RAUBTIER.

"We had the title in mind since before we even recorded 'Carolus Rex' and we already had ideas for artwork years ago," said SABATON bassist Pär Sundström. "We had a few different ones to choose from, but when we saw this one, we knew it was the right one for this album."

"Heroes" was tracked at The Abyss, the recording studio in Pärlby outside Ludvika, Sweden owned and operated by record producer and musician Peter Tägtgren (HYPOCRISY, PAIN).

SABATON played its first show with new drummer Hannes Van Dahl on November 16, 2013 at the Metal Hammer Paradise festival in Germany.

GUNS N

GUNS N' ROSES Featuring DUFF MCKAGAN: Bolivian TV Report, Fan-Filmed Video Footage

A Bolivian TV report on GUNS N' ROSES' April 12 concert in La Paz, Bolivia — including an interview with the band's guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal — can be seen below.

As previously reported, Slash recently said that he was not concerned about Duff McKagan's reunion with Axl Rose at five GUNS N' ROSES shows in South America this month. McKagan joined the band to fill in for bassist Tommy Stinson, who was committed to two reunion shows at the Coachella festival with THE REPLACEMENTS. Slash told TeamRock, "What Duff does is what Duff does. It doesn't really concern me. Duff's relationship with Axl is different to mine. That call to me is just not going to happen." Slash added that he bears no ill will toward McKagan for doing the shows, saying, "I don't judge Duff. He's cool. He just has a way more amicable, neutral relationship with Axl than I do."

Slash told The Pulse Of Radio a while back how his relationship with Rose disintegrated during the final years of the original GUNS lineup. "His sort of m.o., as far as the band was concerned, over time got so exaggerated in the rock star sense or whatever and he became such a dictator and this and that and the other, that it was impossible for me to work with him, because I'm not the kind of person that takes orders, you know," he said.

McKagan joined GUNS 'N ROSES onstage for the first time in 17 years at an October 2010 concert in London. He also performed with the current version of GUNS in December 2011 at shows in Vancouver and Seattle. All three appearances were for a few songs, not full gigs.

The South American shows mark the first time he has played full concerts with the band since his departure in 1994.

Rose told Billboard.com in 2009 that he doesn't ever expect to play with Slash again, saying, "One of the two of us will die before a reunion. However sad, ugly or unfortunate anyone views it, it is how it is."

AMARANTHE Singer ELIZE RYD Slams

AMARANTHE Singer ELIZE RYD Slams 'Internet Haters': ' It's A Shame How Low Some People Can Go'

Elize Ryd (born Hanna Elise Isabella Maj Höstblomma Ryd), the 29-year-old frontwoman of the Swedish band AMARANTHE who has also toured the world as a backing singer for KAMELOT, has posted the following message on her official blog:

"I just wrote in my previous post that I love people. BUT I got a reminder today…

"Sometimes when I wake up in the morning, some idiotic 'hater' has written really bad and disrespectful things on my official Facebook page. I do not in the world understand why?? There must be so many other things and people to hate out there. You have rapists, murderers, those who are bulling other people (like I experience once in a while), people who abuse children and animals… Cancer!! Do I need to continue?

"It's an ever-lasting question to me why some people love to write fucked up comments to someone they actually don't even know. One thing they usually have in common is that they are sick or jealous.

"Actually, I know AMARANTHE's and my fans out there are amazing people. I been touring over 4 years and got the honor to meet the most fantastic people; you know who you are and you know I love you. We, like most people on earth, share the same thoughts and have the same sight on life, I'm very glad because of that.

"If you feel that you are not one of those people, please just leave us alone and learn to shut the fuck up! Is it so hard, really?

"Please if you notice that someone around you writes bad stuff to another on the Internet, remind them to think twice before posting it. And to those who are Internet haters, it is a crime in Sweden.

"OK, I don't get many stupid comments from people, they pop up maybe once every year. But this comment doesn't only affect me. This guy does obviously have a really bad sight on women. All I can say to you is… I think what you wrote and how you react towards me and the band is sad, weak and extremely pathetic. Most of the things people write (like you did) are words you probably would not be cool enough to tell to my face. I hope you are happy now that I gave you some extra attention.

"It's a shame how low some people can go…

"The most important for me right now is to do my best to STOP this kind of stupidity. It makes a lot of people very hurt, and depressed, nobody deserves to read shit like this.

"I have to post this so that at least I show that it happens to me, and that I don't think it's OK!!! So just stop Internet bulling people and STOP insulting women. Too many have already got seriously damaged and even committed suicide (mostly young women) because of this phenomena 'Internet hate.'

"I'm 100% against both Internet hate and women's oppression. We need to say NO as soon as we notice there are people out there continuing feeding it."

AMARANTHE has confirmed an autumn 2014 release date for its new studio album via Spinefarm Records. The as-yet-untitled outing will be the follow-up to "Amaranthe" (2011, now gold in Sweden) and "The Nexus" (2013).

AMARANTHE's first two releases, which defined the band's approach through their signature blend of musical styles and voices, caused an international stir right from the start; not only did "The Nexus" top the rock chart in Sweden, but it went straight to No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes Metal chart, while the videos (from both albums) have continued to clock up millions of views ("Hunger", from "Amaranthe", is now at the 6-million-plus mark).

The success of these records saw AMARANTHE playing to audiences all over the world, and now — following shows across Europe, including an appearance at the Bandit Rock Awards in Stockholm where one of the band's three singers, Elize Ryd, received the "Rock 'N' Role Model" award — the six-piece will head back into the studio.

HELLYEAH: Video Footage Of New Lineup

HELLYEAH: Video Footage Of New Lineup's First Show

Video footage of HELLYEAH performing the song "Drink Drank Drunk" at The Patio in Abilene, Texas on April 5 during the kick-off show of the band's current tour can be seen below.

As previously reported, HELLYEAH has recruited Christian Brady as its new touring guitarist following the recent departure of Greg Tribbett (MUDVAYNE).

A former member of MAGNA-FI and FRANKY PEREZ & THE TRUTH, Brady met HELLYEAH drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott in Las Vegas, where Christian has been living and playing in bands for a while.

HELLYEAH's fourth studio album, "Blood For Blood", will be released on June 10 via Eleven Seven Music. The CD was helmed by producer Kevin Churko at his The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada. Churko is the Canadian musician, sound engineer, songwriter and record producer who has previously worked with OZZY OSBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and IN THIS MOMENT, among other acts.

Prior to the recording of the new album, HELLYEAH parted ways with Tribbett and bassist Bob "Zilla" Kakaha (DAMAGEPLAN). Kakaha has since been replaced by Kyle Sanders, a former member of BLOODSIMPLE and the brother of MASTODON's Troy Sanders.

Still in the lineup are Vinnie Paul Abbott, guitarist Tom Maxwell and singer Chad Gray.

A press release describes "Blood For Blood" as a "welcome return to form" for the band, adding that it "sounds like a recharged HELLYEAH, taken up many notches."

HELLYEAH was formed in 2006 by NOTHINGFACE guitarist Tom Maxwell and bassist Jerry Montano, MUDVAYNE singer Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett, and former PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott.

Montano left a week after the release of the band's self-titled debut album in 2007 and was replaced by Bob "Zilla" Kakaha, who had played with Abbott in DAMAGEPLAN.

HELLYEAH's other albums include 2009's "Stampede" and 2011's "Band Of Brothers".

MUDVAYNE has not released an album since 2009 while Gray and Tribbett have been working with HELLYEAH.

KIX Signs With LOUD & PROUD RECORDS

KIX Signs With LOUD & PROUD RECORDS

KIX — Steve Whiteman (lead vocals), Jimmy Chalfant (drums, vocals), Ronnie Younkins (guitars), Brian Forsythe (guitars) and Mark Schenker (bass) — will release its first new album in almost two decades on July 22, thanks to their new partnership with Loud & Proud Records. What makes the project even more exciting and anticipated is that the album features the band's original lineup, with the exception of Schenker on bass.

"The boys and I are so happy that our old friend, Tom Lipsky, has invited us to join the Loud & Proud family," exclaims Whiteman. "We worked with Tom and Madelyn Scarpulla on our last studio album, 'Show Business', and we’re looking forward to working with them again with the release of the first new KIX album in almost 19 years! We'll still be coming to a dump near you very soon!"

Loud & Proud owner and president Tom Lipsky adds: "What I have always loved about KIX is they make rock 'n' roll fun. What I love about their new music is that it’s pure, genuine KIX music, straight-up guitar rock with no compromise. They're not chasing trends or trying to re-invent themselves. They're simply doing what they do best... and now they can do it Loud & Proud!"

Marking the re-emergence of KIX in early-2000s, the band had teamed up a few times a year to test the waters with reunion shows in the Maryland/Pennsylvania, which were very well received. Then in the summer of 2008, KIX performed outside the mid-Atlantic for the first time in 13 years at two of the biggest rock festivals in the U.S., Rocklahoma in Pryor, Oklahoma and Rock The Bayou in Houston, Texas.

As the demand for new music has never subsided, and in fact, has only increased over the last few years, the band decided that they can no longer ignore the overtures from their fans and are currently recording new KIX songs. The new album, due out summer 2014, is produced by Taylor Rhodes, who last worked with KIX on 1991's "Hot Wire". Rhodes has also written hit songs for AEROSMITH, OZZY OSBOURNE and JOURNEY.

MICK JONES And LOU GRAMM Eyeing New FOREIGNER Music For 2015

MICK JONES And LOU GRAMM Eyeing New FOREIGNER Music For 2015

According to The Pulse Of Radio, Mick Jones revealed that the first new songs by him and co-founding FOREIGNER frontman Lou Gramm in 20 years might hit the public next year. The pair's June 2013 performance of "I Want To Know What Love Is" and "Juke Box Hero" at the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in New York City marked the first time the pair has performed together in a decade after Gramm left FOREIGNER for a second time.

Jones has rekindled a relationship with Gramm, and revealed to Classic Rock magazine, that the duo, who wrote most of FOREIGNER's classic hits together, might be teaming up one more time, explaining, "Lou told me a few weeks ago he's discovered a few songs we were writing in the '80s, but never quite finished. We might take time next year to bring a couple of those out of the vaults. . . It's a question of wading through them and finding a cassette machine to play them on."

When asked if a reunion — which would sideline current lead singer Kelly Hansen — would be unfair, Jones was quick to point out: "Kelly has dedicated everything to the band. He's phenomenal. So anything I do will be sensitive to that. If Lou and I do something, it'll be inclusive. No way will he replace Kelly.”

Jones was asked what shape a Lou Gramm / Kelly Hansen FOREIGNER show might take, and he explained, "Something special where the old members can be involved. That would be cool. But nothing in the immediate future."

Mick Jones told The Pulse Of Radio that upon forming FOREIGNER in 1976, he knew that Lou Gramm would prove to be invaluable with a signature voice — with the songwriting chops to match. "I knew he had written, he was a writer too, and always felt that, y'know, it was important that the singer in any band had something to do with, [laughs] obviously, creating the songs, 'cause they're gonna sing them," he said. "Lou came up with some great titles; I think 'Head Games', I think 'Hot Blooded', too. And he developed into a really good writer."

FOREIGNER kicks off its joint tour with STYX and special guest, former EAGLES guitarist Don Felder, on May 14, in Wichita, Kansas at the Intrust Bank Arena.

SLASH Says He

SLASH Says He 'Wasn't Fond' Of GUNS N' ROSES Song 'Sweet Child O' Mine' When It Was First Written

Christopher Derek Foley (a.k.a. KiddChris) of the WEBN radio station in Cincinnati, Ohio recently asked Slash if there is a song from either GUNS N' ROSES or VELVET REVOLVER that the legendary guitarist completely hates.

"Wow! That's an interesting question," Slash replied (hear audio below). "I don't think anybody has ever asked me that."

He continued: "I can't think of a song that I actually completely hate from either band. You know, I mean, maybe there's some songs that I like more than others. But I'll tell you one thing… I didn't hate it, but I wasn't fond of [the GUNS N' ROSES song] 'Sweet Child O' Mine'. And that gives you a good idea of how credible my opinion is… The actual riff itself I love, but the song itself…

"You know, GUNS N' ROSES was always a real hardcore, sort of, AC/DC kind of hard rock band with a lot of attitude. If we did any kind of ballads, it was bluesy. This was an uptempo ballad. That's one of the gayest things you can write. But at the same time, it's a great song — I'm not knocking it — but at the time, it just did not fit in with the rest of our, sot of, schtick. And, of course, it would be the biggest hit we ever had."

Slash told Metro earlier this year that "Sweet Child O' Mine" was the most lucrative song he has composed. He explained: "It's the most covered [song I have ever written]. There are some really good instrumental versions for the piano or violin, but I've been horrified by some muzak versions. I've been sitting in a doctor's office thinking, 'That sounds familiar,' and then realizing it's someone's interpretation of what I've written. That can be a creepy feeling."

The original version of "Sweet Child O' Mine" was released as a single on August 17, 1988 and is included on GUNS N' ROSES' debut studio album, "Appetite For Destruction".

ROB ZOMBIE Already At Work On Sixth Solo Effort

ROB ZOMBIE Already At Work On Sixth Solo Effort

According to The Pulse Of Radio, Rob Zombie not only has a live DVD, a book and a spring tour on the way, but he's already begun work on the follow-up to last year's album, "Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor". Zombie and his band started putting together his sixth solo CD in January, and told The Pulse Of Radio he plans to resume the project in May. "I don't want years and years to go by between records, even though somehow it always seems to happen," he said. "And, you know, we're really excited because we really felt that for ourselves as a band, the last record really kind of got back to something that I was looking for, and we were just excited to take it to the next level. When you're feeling inspired, you kind of want to go for it, because sometimes you don't feel inspired."

Zombie has set May 20 as the release date for his first official concert DVD and Blu-ray, titled "The Zombie Horror Picture Show". Filmed at two shows last August in Texas, the 16-song set will include live versions of solo hits, WHITE ZOMBIE classics "Thunderkiss '65", "More Human Than Human" and "Supercharger Heaven", plus Zombie's recent cover of GRAND FUNK RAILROAD's "We're An American Band". A photo book by photographer Rob Fenn will be published as a companion piece to the home video release.

Zombie will kick off a 12-date run of shows on April 26 in Fort Myers, Florida at the Fort Rock festival, mixing other major rock festival stops with headlining shows before wrapping it up on May 10 in Camden, New Jersey.

"Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor" sold 34,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 7 on The Billboard 200 chart. The record arrived in stores on April 23, 2013 via Zodiac Swan/T-Boy/Ume. The CD was produced by Bob Marlette, who has previously worked with everyone from BLACK SABBATH and ALICE COOPER to WILSON PHILLIPS and LYNYRD SKYNYRD.

NIRVANA Bassist Says ROCK HALL Induction

NIRVANA Bassist Says ROCK HALL Induction 'Conjured Spirit' Of Band

According to The Pulse Of Radio, NIRVANA bassist Krist Novoselic has commented in a new blog post on the events last week surrounding the band's induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, which included a three-song performance at the ceremony itself and a secret show later that evening at a bar in Brooklyn. Both performances included artists such as Joan Jett, SONIC YOUTH's Kim Gordon, Lorde and St. Vincent singing in place of late NIRVANA frontman Kurt Cobain.

Novoselic said he was "so happy" about the way the week went, writing, "I feel we conjured the spirit of the band, and we could not have done that alone. This, for me, is a bittersweet notion as we all miss Kurt so much. But considering we were inducted, the show had to go on. Joan Jett was first on my list to be out front. I spoke to Dave about it and he ran with the idea of having all women lead. We felt that would be a good tribute to Kurt and what NIRVANA was about."

While last Thursday's (April 10) induction included all female vocalists, the show later that evening also featured DINOSAUR JR.'s J. Mascis and DEER TICK's John McCauley, while Lorde only performed at the ceremony.

The late-night gig at the tiny St. Vitus bar in Brooklyn — which held only around 250 people — featured a full 19-song set by the guest singers and surviving NIRVANA members Novoselic, Dave Grohl and Pat Smear.

NIRVANA was inducted into the Hall Of Fame by Michael Stipe of R.E.M. Novoselic and Grohl were joined onstage by Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, as well as Cobain's mother and sister.

At the induction, Jett joined the band for a performance of "Smells Like Teen Spirit", while Clark performed "Lithium", and Gordon performed "Aneurysm". They were followed by Lorde, who came out to sing "All Apologies".

An edited version of the induction ceremony will be broadcast on HBO on May 31.

ELECTRIC WIZARD Signs With SPINEFARM RECORDS

ELECTRIC WIZARD Signs With SPINEFARM RECORDS

Visually intoxicating, uncompromisingly heavy and revered for making music and lifestyle one, ELECTRIC WIZARD has completed work on its new studio album, title to be confirmed; the effort will be the band's first release through Spinefarm Records. Formed by vocalist/guitarist Jus Oborn in 1993, ELECTRIC WIZARD — based in the U.K.'s South-West — has thus far released seven studio albums — an increasingly influential body of work recorded on vintage analogue gear with as little technology as possible intruding on the signal ("Pro Tools is for pussies!"). Result: some of the heaviest, dirtiest, most evil-sounding audio ever put to tape, and more importantly to vinyl, with both "Come My Fanatics" (1997) and "Dopethrone" (2000) being lauded as landmark releases. A cultural as well as a musical force, ELECTRIC WIZARD has left an indelible mark on a host of different genres, the likes of doom, stoner and sludge; at heart, however, they stand as an iconic British metal band, cast in the great tradition, with lyrics and artwork reflecting the hypnotic weight of the music, and subject to the same intelligence and detail. Wreathed in occult ritual and drug-culture references, with classic '70s horror an inspirational seam, ELECTRIC WIZARD is poised to turn a page; there's the new deal with Spinefarm Records, plus — after a nine-year hiatus — the return of Mark Greening (the drummer on "Dopethrone"), who completes the lineup of Oborn, American guitarist Liz Buckingham, a key member since 2003, and new bassist Clayton Burgess (SATAN'S SATYRS). Fueled by strong emotion and the harder sounds of late-'60s Detroit, the remodeled lineup — isolated by choice, giant stacks glowing red — set about crafting an eighth studio album to both rival and exceed the milestone recordings of the past, with Buckingham keeping things suitably monolithic and the band generally looking back to some of their earliest influences. Toerag Studios in London was once again charged with capturing "The Sound," and (encouragingly) words like "raw", "hateful" and "sickeningly heavy" are being traded. Says Oborn: "Our master plan is this. Real metal!! We stand for rebellion, we are with the kids; we fight, puke, smoke weed, etc...

"ELECTRIC WIZARD is an entity, with its own history, its own symbols, its own iconography, and with this new album, we wanted to return to basic values. It's primitive. We needed to claw it back down to the evil core — sex, drugs, violence, revolution... to go back to being a band that hung out and jammed hard. No teaching songs, just feeling them out.

"If you jam enough and you are on the same level — artistically, musically, whatever, you gotta be committed — then good music will happen. I totally believe that..." ELECTRIC WIZARD is:
