Victory Records has announced the signing of Melbourne, Australia’s FEED HER TO THE SHARKS. According to an update from Brazil's ALMAH, former guitarist Paulo Schroeber passed away on March 24th. Reports indicate he died following an unsuccessful surgery to reset an artificial pacemaker-like device in his chest. Schroeber suffered from an enlarged heart, which caused accumulation of water in the lungs which caused difficulty in breathing. He was forced to leave Almah in 2012 as a result of his medical issues.
Schroeber was a member of Almah between 2008-2011, appearing on Fragile Equality (2008) and Motion (2011). He also played on ASTAFIX's 2009 release End Ever and released a solo album in 2011.

Portugal's WE ARE THE DAMNED have revealed the album cover for their forthcoming Lifeforce Records debut, Doomvirate.

The band about the visual concept of Doomvirate: "Doomvirate is a term we found that represents the vision we have about the social degeneration that increased substancially in modern days, the lack of opportunity and prospects for a steady future in society, all the political corruption around decisions that dictate an unfavorable situation for those who need the most, and its also a message of hope that we always have to watch for this people. Candlelight Records has confirmed June 10th as the North American release date for OCTOBER FILE’s The Application Of Loneliness, Ignorance, Misery, Love And Despair: An Introspective Of The Human Condition. It is the fourth full-length studio album from the English post-punk quartet. The album was recorded at London’s Orgone Studios (GHOST, ELECTRIC WIZARD, GUAPO, Ulver) and produced by Jaime Gomez Arellano (CATHEDRAL, ANGEL WITCH, GATES OF SLUMBER).

The band has also premiered the album’s lead single ‘Heroes Are Welcome’. A special lyric video, created by 12 Inch Media’s Craig Gowans (BLEED FROM WITHIN), spotlights the outspoken band’s always jeering lyrics.
Recording of the album took place in the early weeks of the New Year. The band made decisive changes to both their writing approach and studio location. “We were keen to trying something new,” says bassist Steve Beatty. “We had recorded everything at the Outhouse in Reading but really felt it was time to try something new. We had heard some recordings from there and liked the way Jaime did things – all live, no samples.”

“It’s the first time we ever wrote anything with a pre-conceived idea,” continues Beatty. “The ideas of each individual track were discussed and music written to fit them. Usually we have musical ideas and put them together whilst Ben (Hollyer, vocals) wrote as the track fermented. This time it was different. It was for sure more of a challenge but it was good for us. We were made to work harder, especially Ben. He has written his best lyrics and pushed his voice into new directions.”

The band recently unveiled the artwork, created by Jan Meininghaus (BOLT THROWER, SICK OF IT ALL, UDO, HOLY MOSES).

Mastermind Samy states: "We were totally blown away with the sketch we got, and even more so when we got the final artwork!! The cover really fits the theme of the album as it has a more dark feel to it and it's brutal as fuck! The dude holding the bloody machete is definitely terror hungry! Jan did an awesome job, this cover is sick!"

Jan Meininghaus adds: "I was asked to do "Lost Society's" new album cover and first of all I had to face the fact that I had to follow their debut album's art that was created by the legendary Ed Repka. One of the true heros of my own Thrash-Metal days. So I decided to go a different way and create the band's cover idea in a much darker and less cartoony mood than the debut's. Lost Society's musical style and their approach to Metal is very 80s Bay Area" to me so I thought it might be fun to paint something that might have been on one of those record covers these days. I listened to Lost Society and my old EXODUS, TESTAMENT and FORBIDDEN vinyls and it was a blast to come up with Terror Hungry artwork!"

Amaranthe have confirmed a fall 2014 release date for their new studio album via Spinefarm Records; as-yet-untitled, this latest outing will be the follow-up to Amaranthe (2011) and The Nexus (2013).

With only a few days to go before the release of their sixth full-length album, the Norwegians that form TROLLFEST have debuted a video for 'Kaptein Kaos', the title track from the album which is due to hit the streets on NoiseArt records on March 28th in Europe and April 8th in North America. The track was chosen because, according to the band, it represents the overall feel of the new album - fun, chaos and utter madness, and shows the band's Troll personas being employed to formulate a special brew by the Kaos Corp, the company owned by the time-travelling hero Kaptein Kaos himself. Helped along by their friend Bok'n'Brusetruse (aka Jon Erik Bokn of DEAD TROOPER and METAL MILITIA), the resourceful Trolls go through various failed attempts before coming up with a new super drink that will change the history of mankind. The 'Kaptein Kaos' video can be seen below:

Recorded at the dUb Studio in Oslo and at the Trollskogen Recording Facilities, the album has been mixed by Endre Kirkesola. Once again the fantastic artwork that depicts the crazy characters that inhabit Trollfest's imagination is by Swedish Cartoonist Jonas Darnell and the design is by Terje Johnsen, both long-time collaborators of the band.

Former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach will releae new solo album, "Give 'Em Hell", on April 22 via Frontiers Records. The follow-up to 2011's "Kicking & Screaming" was once again produced by Bob Marlette, who has previously worked with ROB ZOMBIE, BLACK SABBATH and SHINEDOWN, among others.

The video for the CD's first single, "Temptation", can be seen below. The clip was directed by Patrick Fogarty, who has previously worked with BLACK VEIL BRIDES, PICTURE ME BROKEN and THE BURNING OF ROME.

Sadly, Dio lost his battle with stomach cancer in 2010 but his towering voice and legacy live on.

To celebrate one of rock's most powerful voices, an all-star group of his friends and fans recorded 13 of their favorite tracks for a tribute album, 100% of proceeds from which will go to the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund. Produced by his longtime manager and wife Wendy Dio, the album includes contributions by such metal heavyweights as METALLICA, MOTÖRHEAD, SCORPIONS, ANTHRAX, and Rob Halford, as well as appearances by many of the musicians who performed with Dio over the years.

"This Is Your Life" will be available from Rhino on April 1. A digital version will also be available.

Although the songs featured on the album touch on the different eras of Dio's career, several spotlight his time with RAINBOW, including METALLICA's epic, nine-minute "Ronnie Rising Medley", which combines the RAINBOW songs "A Light In The Black", "Tarot Woman", "Stargazer" and "Kill The King". SCORPIONS add a scorching take on "Temple Of The King" while MOTÖRHEAD is joined by Biff Byford from SAXON on "Starstruck". Rob Halford teams with frequent Dio collaborators Vinny Appice, Doug Aldrich, Jeff Pilson, and Scott Warren for "Man On The Silver Mountain". The final lineup of Dio's solo band — Simon Wright, Craig Goldy, Rudy Sarzo and Scott Warren — are joined by Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) for "Catch The Rainbow", a track from RAINBOW's 1975 debut.

ANTHRAX and ADRENALINE MOB honor Dio's memorable stint with BLACK SABBATH with their takes on "Neon Knights" and "The Mob Rules", respectively, as does a group, led by Oni Logan on vocals along with Jimmy Bain, Rowan Robertson, and Brian Tichy, which performs "I" from "Dehumanizer".

"This Is Your Life" also includes songs from Dio's back-to-back platinum albums "Holy Diver" (1983) and "The Last In Line" (1984), with DORO's take on "Egypt (The Chains Are On)", HALESTORM tackling "Straight Through The Heart", Corey Taylor (STONE SOUR, SLIPKNOT) covering the classic "Rainbow In The Dark" and TENACIOUS D (Jack Black and Kyle Gass) putting their signature spin on "The Last In Line". KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's cover of "Holy Diver", a hit in its own right when released in 2006, is also included here.

Fittingly, Ronnie James Dio provides the finale (and the album's title) with his moving performance of "This Is Your Life". Originally released on "Angry Machines" (1996), the song's lyrics explore mortality and are backed by a stark and beautiful arrangement that features Dio accompanied only by his longtime keyboardist Scott Warren on piano. The song serves as a poignant reminder that we will never hear a voice like Dio's again.

"We reached out to Wendy Dio about wanting to be a part of the Dio tribute that's getting put together," METALLICA singer James Hetfield told U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine. "We're very honored to be a part of that, and to be a part of a celebration of Ronnie's life and his great contribution, man."

In an interview with Guitar International, former ANTHRAX guitarist Rob Caggiano stated that the band's cover version of "Neon Knights" "came out pretty smoking."

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, co-founded by Wendy Dio, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable fund dedicated to supporting cancer-prevention research, raising awareness and educating the public about the vital importance of early detection and prevention when dealing with this deadly disease.

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund is a privately funded 501(c)(3) charity organization which has already raised more than $600,000 in its short history. Monies raised to date have been committed to the cancer research work of the T.J. Martell Foundation for Cancer, AIDS and Leukemia Research and the gastric cancer research unit of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where Ronnie was treated for gastric cancer during the last six months of his life.

Spanish heavy metallers KILMARA have signed a publishing/distribution deal with Sony Music, the new 12-track album Love Songs And Other Nightmares due out April 8th worldwide via the label.

Love Songs And Other Nightmares, the band’s third album, was tracked at Grapow Studios with Roland Grapow. The album release is soon to be scheduled for sometime in 2014.

Legendary prog pioneer IAN ANDERSON will be releasing a new studio album Homo Erraticus on April 15th on his own Calliandra Records, distributed by Kscope. The album continues with the story of Anderson's favorite enfant terrible Gerald Bostock. Audio snippets are available below.
Ian and his band (guitarist Florian Opahle, bassist David Goodier, keyboardist John O'Hara and drummer Scott Hammond, and singer Ryan O'Donnell) will be touring the United States this September through November.

In 1972 Ian's band JETHRO TULL released the iconic concept album Thick As A Brick, based on a poem by the then eight year old Gerald Bostock in 2012. As many fans wondered what might have befallen the character, Ian Anderson decided to explore the different paths Gerald's life might have taken in his 2012 album, Thick As A Brick 2.
Following a forty year political career, Gerald Bostock reunited with Anderson taking the role of tour manager on a string of shows. Homo Erraticus marks Gerald's return to songwriting, and is based on an unpublished manuscript by amateur historian Ernest T. Parritt (1865-1928).

In Homo Erraticus, Parritt examines key events of British history with a string of prophecies stretching to the current day and the future. Visions of past lives caused by the delirium of malaria generate the characters through whose eyes the stories are told, including a nomadic Neolithic settler, an Iron Age blacksmith, a Christian monk, a turnpike innkeeper and even Prince Albert.

The album release will be followed by an extensive UK tour, where Homo Erraticus will be performed in its entirety followed by a selection of Tull classics updated with video and theatrics.

Oslo, Norway-based technical metallers INSENSE have premiered their new video, for the track 'Meandering', featured on the new album, De:Evolution, set for release on May 23rd on CD, limited-edition vinyl and digital download via Mas-Kina Recordings/Indie Recordings.
Produced by guitarist/vocalist Tommy Hjelm and mixed by Daniel Bergstrand at Dugout Studio in Uppsala, Sweden, De:Evolution follows-up the band’s fourth full-length album Burn In Beautiful Fire, released in 2011, which as well as fan and media praise received a Norwegian Grammy Nomination. The album artwork was created by Ryan Clark of Invisible Creature, whose previous credits include FOO FIGHTERS, MNEMIC, NORMA JEAN and THE CHARIOT.

Yorkshire, England's MARMOZETS' brand new single, 'Why Do You Hate Me?', made its world premiere this week on Zane Lowe's BBC1 radio and its accompanying music video is now available below. 'Why Do You Hate Me?' is also now available via the iTunes Store.
Furthermore, it was announced last night that Marmozets will be joining the Vans Warped Tour 2014 beginning July 4th at Toronto, Ontario’s Molson Canadian Amphitheatre. The band will spend the rest of the summer traversing the US on Warped which eventually wrap on August 3rd in Denver, Colorado at the Sports Authority Field at Mile High. After more than 20 years, Total Fucking Darkness, the infamous third demo from Cradle Of Filth, will be officially released on vinyl and digipak formats on May 5th. 'Unbridled At Dusk' from the release can be heard below.

Housed in a heavy gatefold sleeve with paintings featuring the twisted visions of Radio One Presenter and Occult Artist, Daniel P Carter, the release will include some tracks previously unreleased by the band.

Frater Nihil, the founder of Cacophonous Records, the label that first signed Cradle Of Filth, got together with Dani Filth and Paul Ryan (former guitarist and now in THE KING IS BLIND) to bring fans of the band, both old and new, a remastered version of the demo along with material that had been sitting in the vaults for 20 years. They entered Turan Studio in Oxford and with the help of the engineer (who has worked on everything from EMPEROR to THIN LIZZY) brought the old recordings a new lease of life.

The album kicks off with the track 'Spattered In Faeces', the only surviving track from the now mythical Goetia sessions, followed on Side A and the rest of Side B with the recordings from Total Fucking Darkness. Side C begins with another previously unreleased track, 'Devil Mayfair (Advocatus Diaboli)', recorded at Samhain 1992, the rest of the side and the next feature the other three tracks from that session, along with two short instrumental pieces from the band's former keyboardist, Ben Ryan.

There will be a press of 666 copies in coloured vinyl for retail, with a Digipak CD version also available. Pre-orders can be placed here.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY recently amicably parted ways with longtime guitarist Nick Catanese and replaced him with Dario Lorina (LIZZY BORDEN).

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY mainman Zakk Wylde recently told Guitar World magazine about Catanese's departure: "I had called Nick to tell him about the album and he told me that he was already knees deep into doing his own thing and wanted to stick 1,000 percent into it. I told him it was cool and that we loved him and that he'd always have a home here."

He continued: "The thing is no one ever gets kicked out or fired. If you want to go, you're always able. Now we've got [guitarist] Dario Lorina in the band, and not only is he a kick-ass guitar player who can shred, but he's also a really cool dude."

Asked how he hooked up with Dario, Zakk said: "We never do a cattle call or anything like that. With the amount of awesome players I know, it's more of a word-of-mouth kind of thing. I had him come out to the Vatican [Zakk's home studio] to meet him, and afterwards I said, 'Cool. If you want to do it, you're in.' It was as simple as that."

Wylde also spoke about what fans can expect to hear on "Catacombs Of The Black Vatican".

"I think everyone can expect a lot of fun and excitement," he laughed. "It was like what Chris Farley did in that one skit, where he was selling that hair-care product. Make sure you always use the word 'fun' when you describe it. [laughs]!

"Someone asked me what the difference was between this new record and the other nine. I told them that it's basically all of the songs we used on the other nine records, except they've got different titles now. [laughs] It's fun and exciting for the whole family!"

"Catacombs of the Black Vatican" is BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's first new studio album since 2009's "The Order Of The Black", which debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 chart.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's new live DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital Video, "Unblackened", was released on September 24, 2013 by Eagle Rock Entertainment. Wylde's label home, eOne Music, also released the audio version of the "Unblackened" DVD under the same name.
