PROTEST THE HERO:

PROTEST THE HERO: 'Clarity' Lyric Video

The official lyric video for the song "Clarity" from the Canadian band PROTEST THE HERO can be seen below. The group, which recently made headlines when its Indiegogo campaign to fund a new album more than doubled its $125,000 goal with time to spare, will release its fourth studio CD, "Volition", on October 29 (one day earlier internationally). On the same day as the commercial release, the band will fulfill all of the orders associated with the Indiegogo campaign. Those CD and vinyl copies will feature artwork different from the commercial release and additionally will include the perks that were offered during the Indiegogo campaign. The long-awaited follow-up to 2011's "Scurrilous" (Vagrant), "Volition" has been licensed to series of worldwide partners who will help distribute and market it to both traditional stores alongside digital service providers, thus making the new record available on a worldwide scale. PROTEST THE HERO and Razor & Tie will join forces for the United States, while the album will be released in Canada through Sony Music and in the rest of the word via Spinefarm.

"Volition" track listing:

01. Clarity 02. Drum-Head Trial 03. Tilting Against Windmills 04. Without Prejudice 05. Yellow Teeth 06. Plato's Tripartite 07. A Life Embossed 08. Mist 09. Underbite 10. Animal Bones 11. Skies

The cover artwork can be seen below. The band explains: "Our successful crowdfunding campaign allowed us a new level of both artistic and business minded freedom.

"We had the pleasure of recording an album with budgets and deadlines created only by ourselves and we think the project benefited the world over because of that.

"We can't thank our dedicated contributors enough for putting us in the driver seat. It has been an arduous process because we have had to create two completely different packages for this album. One will be the exclusive release which will only go to people who contributed to our campaign. The other is going to be the more standard release which we hope everyone will see on record store shelves (and digitally, of course).

"We realized pretty quickly after recording that we were going to need some help with the distribution of the traditional release. We knew we wanted our album to be available around the world in as many formats as possible. With this in mind, and with our new found sense of control we have teamed up with some new pals. All of which are completely on board with our non-traditional view moving forward. No advances, no multi-record deals, no hidden agendas.

"We hope you are able to get your hands on at least one of these versions of our new album, regardless of where you are in the world. It's scary, but wonderful to say...this album absolutely would not have been possible without the generosity and support of those who contributed to the making of our new album. We will forever be in your debt!” PROTEST THE HERO recently parted ways with its longtime drummer Moe Carlson.

"[Moe] approached me one day — he approached everyone individually — and said, 'Just to let you know, I'm going back to school,' and I was like, 'Good for you. That's awesome,'" PROTEST THE HERO singer Rody Walker told AUX. "And then he said he didn't have any intentions of touring ever again. That kind of sucked. It was a shock, obviously, but he's been really good about the whole thing."

The band explained in a post on its Facebook page: "When our gruelling studio schedule just wouldn't work with [Moe's] gruelling school schedule, we realized we would need to find a session player for the new album. With Moe's guidance and approval, we found us a nice match in [LAMB OF GOD's] Chris Adler! Having known Chris for a few years, and with he and Moe being drum buddies, it seemed like a perfect fit. We are happy to say that Chris has already come and gone from Canada and has left us with some beautiful drum tracks."

Speaking to AUX, Walker explained how Adler's influence could make the new PROTEST THE HERO record its heaviest to date.

"He's coming from such a different spot than us," Walker said. "We come to heavy metal through punk rock. It must have been strange for him playing some punk beats, and some of the punk beats he plays in a heavy metal way. This may come out being one of our more heavy-sounding records, or more metal-sounding record."

CLUTCH Guitarist

CLUTCH Guitarist's DEEP SWELL To Release Debut Album Next Month

DEEP SWELL, the Shepherdstown, West Virginia-based band featuring CLUTCH guitarist Tim Sult, will release its debut album, "Lore Of The Angler", on on October 15 via CLUTCH's record label, Weathermaker Music.

With a powerful female lead vocalist and precise rhythmic force, DEEP SWELL's sound is a mix of riff-based rock, funk-tinged psychedelia and mysterious poetic lyrics.

Years of friendship and mutual appreciation for each other's talents brought Sult into collaboration with drummer Jesse Shultzaberger and bassist Logan Kilmer. Shultzaberger is a versatile drummer who currently tours with the Americana band THE WOODSHEDDERS. Kilmer, who honed his technique and methods with NOETIC PULL, plays five-string with a smooth funky bass style to the depth of which helped spawn the band's name.

At the beginning of 2012 they met Briena Pearl and invited her to join the trio. Pearl, a lifelong student of voice, theater, and dance, quickly proved the sheer force of her talent as a singer and songwriter, thus establishing an instant chemistry with the band and a clear direction for their emerging sound. With this final addition in place DEEP SWELL's dynamic sound was forged.

Sult commented on being a part of DEEP SWELL and the new release: "I'm very excited about working with another group of talented artists and I'm looking forward to introducing the new project to the world."

In February 2013, DEEP SWELL recorded "Lore Of The Angler" at Magpie Cage Recording Studio in Baltimore, Maryland. Three months later, they were signed to Weathermaker Music, with the label overseeing distribution, touring and publicity for the album starting this fall. DEEP SWELL has scheduled a handful of dates in supporting of "Lore Of The Angler", including a CD-release party on October 19 in Shepherdstown at Opera House Live. Following that show, the band will out through October 23, with LIONIZE providing support. "Lore Of The Angler" track listing:

IN FLAMES:

IN FLAMES: 'Sounds Of A Playground Fading' Video Released

"Sounds Of A Playground Fading", the video for the title track of the tenth studio album from Swedish metallers IN FLAMES, can be seen below. The clip, which is made up of concert footage, was produced by Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Film Company, who has previously worked with DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL, SONIC SYNDICATE and KAMELOT, among others.

IN FLAMES will play a very special show at the Gröna Lund amusement park in Stockholm, Sweden on September 27. Gröna Lund had in fact closed their park for the season, but when they got word that IN FLAMES was available, they decided to re-open the park, just for this concert.

"Sounds Of A Playground Fading" (Century Media) sold around 14,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 27 on The Billboard 200 chart.

IN FLAMES' previous album, "A Sense of Purpose" (Koch) opened with 20,000 units to land at No. 28. This was slightly less than the opening tally of "Come Clarity" (Ferret), which shifted just under 24,000 copies in February 2006 to enter the chart at position No. 58.

"Sounds Of A Playground Fading" was the first IN FLAMES album to be recorded without founding guitarist Jesper Strömblad, who quit the band in February 2010 in order to continue receiving treatment for his alcohol addiction.

IN FLAMES guitarist Niclas Engelin recently sat out a few of the band's shows. His temporary replacement for those gigs was Patrik Jensen from THE HAUNTED.

IRON MAIDEN

IRON MAIDEN's Brazilian Concerts To Be Professionally Recorded

According to IRON MAIDEN's recording engineer Tony Newton, the band's two Brazilian concerts in São Paulo (September 20) and Rock In Rio festival (September 22) will be professionally recorded. It is not presently clear if the resulting footage will be made available commercially.

In a recent interview with the Turkish web site Hafifmuzik.org, MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson revealed that there will be no new studio album from the band in 2014. He did, however, assure fans that MAIDEN has plans to release a new CD, although most likely not before 2015.

IRON MAIDEN last month landed at position No. 1 on Billboard.com's "Hot Tours" list of top-grossing tours with $8.5 million in ticket sales from six performances on their summer tour of Europe. The shows were attended by a total of 121,280 fans, including a two-night, sold-out stand on August 3-4 at the O2 Arena in Lonon, England, where the band played to 27,000 fans. With totals added from this summer's Europe dates, overall ticket sales from the tour top $42 million from 45 reported concerts.

MAIDEN's 15th studio CD, 2010's "The Final Frontier", featured 10 tracks that had an average running time of seven minutes and 40 seconds, with the shortest song, "The Alchemist", clocking in at four minutes and 29 seconds, and the longest, "When The Wild Wind Blows", lasting ten minutes and 59 seconds.

"The Final Frontier" sold 63,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to enter The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 4.

IRON MAIDEN's previous album, 2006's "A Matter Of Life And Death", opened with 56,000 units to land at No. 9. This was a notable increase from the 40,000 first-week tally registered by its predecessor, 2003's "Dance of Death" (which debuted at No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart), and that of "Brave New World", which moved 38,000 copies in June 2000 to land at No. 39 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"The Final Frontier" was IRON MAIDEN's fourth U.K. No. 1 album. The band previously topped the chart in 1982 with "The Number of the Beast", in 1988 with "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" and in 1992 with "Fear of the Dark".

ERYN NON DAE.: 'Hidden Lotus' Video Released

"Hidden Lotus", the new video from Toulouse, France-based progressive metallers ERYN NON DAE. (formerly END.), can be seen below. The song comes off the band's sophomore album, "Meliora", which was released in October 2012 via M&O Office. The follow-up to 2009's "Hydra Lernaia" was recorded at Mobo's ConKrete Studio in Bordeaux, France.

According to a press release, "Meliora" "is both cerebral and organic, complete with dynamic relief, softer abstract and atmospheric passages of contained energy appear and transport the listener. From this highly textured mosaic the concept comes to life: this time coming from a long introspective process. 'Meliora' speaks of the metamorphosis of a man into a higher being. This transformation is born from a realization of inner truth. On this inexorable journey towards the end, a light may be found.

"The lyrics of 'Meliora' swing between appeasement and resignation, with references to mythology and alchemy. Filled with actual experiences, the album expresses a physical and psychic quest. The lyrics are raw and fragile, vindictive and sensitive, bleak yet filled with goodwill and hope. 'Meliora' is, finally, a fragment of pure humanity."

"Meliora" track listing:

01. Chrysalis02. The Great Downfall03. Scarlet Rising04. Ignitus05. Muto06. Black Obsidian Pyre07. Hidden Lotus

THE SKULL Plays First Show With Original TROUBLE Drummer JEFF

THE SKULL Plays First Show With Original TROUBLE Drummer JEFF 'OLY' OLSON (Video)

THE SKULL — the new band featuring original TROUBLE members vocaist Eric Wagner and drummer Jeff "Oly" Olson alongside TROUBLE's longtime bassist Ron Holzner and SACRED DAWN guitarists Michael Carpenter and Lothar Keller — peformed at Tequila Jaxx this past Saturday, September 14 in Mentor-On-The-Lake, Ohio. Fan-filmed video footage can be seen below. This was THE SKULL's first performance with Olson.

Olson rejoined THE SKULL last month, explaining in a statement: "I know that I've mentioned that I wouldn't perform TROUBLE's music anymore unless it's with the other original members, but I've had a change of heart. I want to rock again.

"Although I have been having a great time playing keys for IN-GRAVED (led by former PENTAGRAM guitarist Victor Griffin), I miss the drums and playing classic TROUBLE songs. I'm still going to jam with Victor, but there is room for THE SKULL too."

He added: "In just a few short months, 2014 will mark the 30th anniversary year for TROUBLE's debut record, 'Psalm 9'. TROUBLE guitarists Rick Wartell and Bruce Franklin are having fun with their new record, and I had fun writing some intros for it. It's just that Eric, Ron, and myself want to jam too and celebrate our 30th anniversary as well with a tour and a new record. We've worked just as hard as Bruce and Rick over the years and we feel that we've earned the privilege to celebrate with the fans as well. There is no animosity between the two bands and we intend to keep it that way."

"We are currently writing a debut record, set for release in 2014 and I've already submitted several songs to the guys. Excitement is in the air."

THE SKULL's debut CD will be produced by Billy Anderson (HIGH ON FIRE, SLEEP, NEUROSIS) this autumn in Portland, Oregon and will be released via as-yet-undetermined record label.

THE SKULL is:

INSOMNIUM: New Song

INSOMNIUM: New Song 'Ephemeral' Released

Finnish melodic death metallers INSOMNIUM have released the first song, "Ephemeral", off their forthcoming album, to be released in 2014 via Century Media Records. The first track to feature new guitarist Markus Vanhala (also in OMNIUM GATHERUM), who replaced Ville Vänni in 2011, "Ephemeral" will be made available digitally in Europe on September 23 and will be accompanied by three bonus tracks — acoustic songs that can be heard in the background of the recently released INSOMNIUM documentary.

Comments the band: "After the success of our last single, 'Weather The Storm', we decided that it would be a good idea to record some new material this summer before releasing the actual new full-length album. This was also a good opportunity to explore different studios and work with different people. Just to explore our sound a bit more in terms of production.

"And here we are finally; happy to introduce you our new single, 'Ephemeral'.

"The drums recorded by Kimmo Perkkiö at SF Sound (Finland). Everything else recorded by Teemu Aalto at Korkeakoski Studios, Kotka (Finland). The song was mixed and mastered by André Alvinzi and Jens Bogren, respectively, at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden.

"It was nice challenge to work on the instrumental side of INSOMNIUM and come up with music that has more cinematic edge to it. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do."

INSOMNIUM's latest album, "One For Sorrow", was released in October 2011 in North America via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded in Gothenburg, Sweden with sound engineer Daniel Antonsson (also bassist in DARK TRANQUILLITY and guitarist in DIMENSION ZERO) and at Fantom studios in Tempere, Finland, where the album was also mixed by Samu Oittisen.

INSOMNIUM in 2011 parted ways with guitarist Ville Vänni and replaced him with Markus Vanhala (OMNIUM GATHERUM).

SAHG: 'Slip Off The Edge Of The Universe' Song Available For Streaming

Norwegian psychedelic quartet SAHG, which specializes in doom-infused '70s rock, will release their new album, "Delusions Of Grandeur", on October 25 via Indie Recordings.

"Delusions Of Grandeur" track listing:

01. Slip Off The Edge Of The Universe02. Blizzardborne03. Firechild04. Walls Of Delusion05. Ether06. Then Wakens The Beast07. Odium Delirium08. Sleeper's Gate To The Galaxy

The song "Slip Off The Edge Of The Universe" can be streamed in the YouTube clip below.

"Delusions Of Grandeur" is a concept record "about a person, whose delusions of grandeur escalate to the level where they consume him completely," explains SAHG's Olav Iversen (vocals, guitar). "From becoming increasingly psychopathic and dominant, he loses touch with everyone around him and isolates into his own imaginary, psychotic world, where he becomes the almighty ruler of the universe. As he stands on the highest peak of his domain and beholds all that he has conquered, he suddenly slips off the edge and floats away, weightless. Helpless and stripped of all power, he drifts further into the open space, until he disappears into the darkness. It's an album about how desire for power and property can distort and destroy who we are."

SAHG's new CD was recorded at Duper studio in Bergen, Norway.

SAHG's third album, "Sahg III", came out on August 30, 2010 through Indie.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY:

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY: 'Spoke In The Wheel' Video From 'Unblackened' DVD

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's video for "Spoke In The Wheel", off the band's new live DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital Video, "Unblackened", can be seen below.

"Unblackened" will be released on September 24 by Eagle Rock Entertainment. BLACK LABEL SOCIETY mainman Zakk Wylde's label home, eOne Music, will also release the audio version of the "Unblackened" DVD under the same name. The double disc release will have six additional tracks not found on the DVD, including two acoustic versions of "Queen Of Sorrow" and "Won't Find It Here", and covers of LEON RUSSELL's "Song For You" and BILL WITHERS' "Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone".

Since their early Nineties inception, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, formed and helmed by guitar legend Zakk Wylde, has been at the forefront of hard rock. Their penchant for hard riffs and blazing solos has resulted in a slew of hugely successful albums and a reputation as one of the most powerful live bands of their generation. "Unblackened", however, unveils another side of the band.

Filmed and recorded on March 6 in high definition at Los Angeles' Club Nokia, "Unblackened" is BLACK LABEL SOCIETY presenting their songs in a whole new light, with greater use of acoustic instrumentation. Wylde plays both guitar and piano, with Nick Catanase on guitar, John DeServio on bass/vocals, Chad Szeliga on drums, Derek Sherinian on keyboards/piano, and Greg Locascio providing additional vocals.

Their stripped-down approach highlights the subtler nuances of the songwriting, without losing any of the fire or intensity. Classic tracks like "Stillborn", "The Blessed Hellride", "In This River", "Throwin' It All Away", "Losin' Your Mind" and many others are still punctuated by the stinging, searing solos that fans know and love, while showcasing the versatility of the band.

In addition to the concert, "Unblackened" is rich in bonus material. A new interview with Zakk, photo gallery, music video for "Losin' Your Mind", and a feature with Wylde visiting HM Prison Stocken in the U.K . are all included.

DVD track listing:

HECATE ENTHRONED Signs With CRANK MUSIC GROUP

HECATE ENTHRONED Signs With CRANK MUSIC GROUP

U.K. black metallers HECATE ENTHRONED have inked a deal with Crank Music Group for the release of their upcoming album. The long-awaited follow-up to 2004's "Redimus" is tentatively due at the end of November. A short U.K. tour to promote the upcoming opus will kick off at the beginning of December.

HECATE ENTHRONED recently announced the addition of vocalist Elliot Beaver (AETERNUM) and drummer Gareth Hardy to the group's ranks. The band states: "This heralds a new start as well as a new lineup for the band."

HECATE ENTHRONED bassist, Dylan Hughes previously stated about the band's upcoming CD: "The new material is very much guitar-driven, lots of heavy and fast riffs (tuned to C#), giving a relentless feeling to the tracks which we have tempered with a big orchestral sound. The choirs and orchestras have always been a big part of the sound with HECATE and that is very true with this material. In some parts, it recaptures some of the moods from the very early releases. Because of the fact we are recording ourselves, we aren't pressured too much by time constraints and can spend more time on getting the right sound and mix as we feel in the past we have had to sacrifice certain things to reach a recording deadline."

CANCER BATS:

CANCER BATS: 'R.A.T.S.' Video Released

"R.A.T.S.", the new video from Canadian metallers CANCER BATS, can be seen below. The song — which features guest vocals from Rob Urbinati of SACRIFICE — comes off the band's fourth full-length album, "Dead Set On Living", which was released in the U.S. in April 2012 via Metal Blade Records.

Shot in Bulgaria during CANCER BATS' recent trek through Europe, the "R.A.T.S." video follows a man who has recently been terminated from his employment.

Once again utilizing the legendary Vespa Studios and producers Eric Ratz and Kenny Luong, "Dead Set On Living" brings yet another dimension to the BATS' menacing style of thrash-tinged hardcore rock. The blazing "Bastards!" also features vocal boosts from DEVILDRIVER's Dez Fafara and AN HORSE's Kate Cooper.

"We've been very lucky to experiment as much as we have," said CANCER BATS vocalist Liam Joseph Cormier. "I love that we can have thrash songs, hardcore songs, and the more QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE or KYUSS kind of groove-based tunes."

Thematically, the album offers a strong focus on the bilateral relationship of dark and light, destruction and construction, life and death. The title track, for example, refers to a close friend of the band who ended up in the hospital in serious condition; only to have the experience cement his will to survive. "Road Sick", as the title may imply, finds Cormier struggling with the hardships that come with a career spent on the road.

"Our lives are all about touring, but that song is more universal," Cormier revealed. "It's really for anyone away from their loved ones, dealing with that situation."

Still, whereas 2010's "Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones" had a much darker tinge, "Dead Set On Living" strikes a tighter balance between the opposing forces and brings listeners closer to the light at the end of the tunnel by encouraging them to push through peril. "We all reach these dark places where we feel angry or alone," said the singer, "but that gives us a reason to pick ourselves up and strive to make something better."

"She Said", the first video from SUPERMANIC, the Los Angeles-based industrial rock band led by Grammy Award-nominated guitarist Sin Quirin (MINISTRY, REVCO, LORDS OF ACID) and singer and music producer Kallaghan (CHARLES MASSABO), can be seen below. The group is currently working on its first album for a tentative 2014 release.

"She Said" was produced by Charles Massabo and features drums by Devin Sack Saqq.

In a recent interview with Sic Asylum, Sin stated about SUPERMANIC: "Kal and I met about a year ago at NAMM. We had a mutual friend that introduced us, over the course of the year we kept in touch and when I got home from the MINISTRY tour we really started talking about starting this project. We really hit it off and had long talks about what it is we really wanted to accomplish. We were very careful to talk about every detail with each other, even who we wanted in the band. We wanted to make sure that we go the right people involved and not get players who later on we would regret bringing on.

"We went into it wanting to start a rock band. Obviously, I come from the industrial side so it would be inevitable to get some electronics in there, but at the end of the day we wanted to do some of these songs with an acoustic guitar and the song still be very strong.

"We definitely are building the band on delivering strong and heavy rock songs, and though the industrial influences may be there, I didn't want it to be compared to anything else I have ever done.

"As you know, I am heavily influenced by bands from the '60s and '70s and really wanted to draw from those influences, and Kal was really into writing catchy/hooky kind of melodies, so that became the foundation for the band.

"We have a handful of material so far and the ranges of the songs will blow you away.

"Kal has such a great voice and I am not kidding when I say it is one of the best set of vocals I have heard in a long time. You are going to really hear that as well when we start slowly releasing some more material. Kal just has such a strong voice that, to me, he is right up there with some of the cats you hear on the radio."

EMMURE To Enter Studio This Fall

EMMURE To Enter Studio This Fall

Queens, New York-based deathcore act EMMURE will enter the studio later this year to begin recording its sixth full-length album for a spring 2014 release via Victory Records.

EMMURE will close out 2013 by headlining the Never Say Die! tour in Europe (October 4-26) and then a full U.S. tour (October 29 - November 22) alongside ASKING ALEXANDRIA, SEVENDUST, ALL THAT REMAINS and FOR TODAY.

Comments EMMURE guitarist and founding member Jesse Ketive: "We couldn't be happier to announce that following Never Say Die! and the ASKING ALEXANDRIA tour, we will be heading into the studio to work on the new album which is aimed for a spring release!

"We have been working hard in between our rigorous world touring schedule this past year and a half and we can't wait to unveil new material.

"We have re-signed to Victory Records and there will be a lot of new things developing for EMMURE through the end of the year.

"Thank you for your constant support through the years and we promise to deliver one of the best EMMURE records to date. See you on tour."

EMMURE's fifth full-length album, "Slave To The Game", was released in April 2012 via Victory Records. The CD was recorded with producer Joey Sturgis (ASKING ALEXANDRIA, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA), who previously worked with the band on 2011's "Speaker Of The Dead".

"Slave To The Game" marked the recording debut of EMMURE's new drummer, Mark Costillo, who has previously played with BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME and BURY YOUR DEAD.

In an interview with Alternative Press, EMMURE vocalist Frank Palmeri stated about "Slave To The Game", "I think this record is just brutal-sounding. It's got everything I think that people expect from us — and I mean that in the sense that we kind of gave people, or at least for ourselves, more of what we felt the music should be from EMMURE. I'm probably making no sense right now. [laughs] It's just a heavy fucking record. It's another EMMURE record that hopefully people get to enjoy with us, because we dig it and that's what it comes down to. We just make albums we try to enjoy and hopefully people can come along for the ride."

When asked what Joey Sturgis brought to the recording this time around, Palmeri said, "He's got kind of amazing input as far as the music goes and his creative mind. He's a pro at what he does. Honestly, as far as heavy music goes right now — especially with this new age of bands that have come up and become so popular — a lot of their success is owed to Joey Sturgis. He's not only such a talented engineer and producer, but he's just a creative person all around that really brings something extra to the table when something is lacking or even perhaps just a new fresh mind to material that maybe bands themselves weren't aware of. It's always good to have an outside perspective from someone who is just talented. It paid off for us on our last album and I think this one as well."

One of the U.K.'s finest exponents of traditional metal, PRIMITAI has released the video for its new single, "Scream When You See Us". The track, which features a guest appearance by JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Richie Faulkner, is described in a press release as "a powerful blast of melodic metal but one that never loses sight of the rich heritage of bands like PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN and having the dextrous six string skills of Faulkner adds a whole new level of intensity."

The debut single from the album, entitled "Fortune Favours The Brave", was made available on July 31. STONE TEMPLE PILOTS: New Song

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS: New Song 'Black Heart' Available For Streaming

The new version of STONE TEMPLE PILOTS featuring LINKIN PARK's Chester Bennington will release an EP, "High Rise", on October 8 via 13Star Records. The effort will contain five new tracks:

01. Out Of Time02. Black Heart03. Same On The Inside04. Cry Cry05. Tomorrow

The song "Black Heart" can now be streamed below.

"Out Of Time" reached the No. 1 position on both the Mediabase Active Rock and Mainstream Rock chart last month.

"In terms of style, when the DeLeo brothers [Dean and bassist Robert] get in the studio and start writing, they have a very unique way of putting chords together and structures and the type of chord progressions they put together," Bennington told Fuse News of the writing process in the new STP. "So, in that sense, it's gonna be undeniably the sound of STP — I mean, they're the heart and soul of the band. Naturally, I'm not [former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer] Scott [Weiland], so I'm not gonna think of the same melodies, I'm not gonna think of the same lyrical content and such, so in that sense, naturally, there's gonna be a difference in terms of how I interpret what the band puts together musically. I think that's one of the reasons why we're so eager to get the [new STONE TEMPLE PILOTS] EP out, because we want people to hear the new direction and feel the vibe of the new music. Because there's definitely a vibe in that EP that is fresh and it's new but it still feels very STP."

He added: "When we started writing, the ideas came so fast; every single day, it semed like there was four or five things that we were all bringing in and contributing in terms of new songs. We could have easily spent three more months on this thing and had a full-length record out. There's enough material there for us to do that and start getting into the next one. So in terms of the amount of creativity that's been going on, it's very healthy."

STP fired Scott Weiland in February after reuniting with him in 2010 for a series of tours and one self-titled album. The band had previously been on hiatus since 2002, primarily due to the singer's struggles with drugs and alcohol.

The group sued Weiland in May, accusing him of using the band's name to advance his solo career, while claiming that his poor performances, late arrivals, and addiction struggles harmed the band's career.

Weiland has countersued, claiming that the band cannot use the STONE TEMPLE PILOTS name without him.

PRO-PAIN: 'The Final Revolution' Cover Artwork, Track Listing Revealed

American hardcore metallers PRO-PAIN will release their new studio album, "The Final Revolution", on November 25 in Europe and December 3 in North America via SPV/Steamhammer. According to vocalist/bassist Gary Meskil, PRO-PAIN's 14th studio recording marks the band's return to its old form. "The music is quite dark, and the groove and tempos are very reminiscent of the classic PRO-PAIN style as opposed to our last album, 'Straight To The Dome', which was a bit more thrashy," he says.

"The Final Revolution" was recorded, mixed, and mastered by V.O. Pulver (GURD) from August 18 to August 29, 2013 at Little Creek Studio in Gelterkinden, Switzerland. Meskil wrote all of the music and lyrics at his home in Sarasota, Florida.

"In order to keep things interesting, I decided to take the reins and handle all of the writing duties alone this time," he says. "It's the first PRO-PAIN album since the '90s in which I've written everything."

The standard "The Final Revolution" release will feature twelve brand-new tracks. There will be other configurations available as well, in the form of a digipak and gatefold album. Those configurations will contain some bonus material (including live tracks plus a UK SUBS cover), foldout poster, etc. Meskil adds: "I'm sure the fans will love it!"

"The Final Revolution" track listing:

01. Deathwish02. One Shot One Kill03. Southbound04. Problem Reaction Solution05. The Final Revolution06. Can't Stop The Pain07. All Systems Fail08. Want Some?09. Fall From Grace10. Emerge11. Meskil concludes: "We hope everyone will enjoy our new album as much as we do! See you on tour!"

ONSLAUGHT: New Song

ONSLAUGHT: New Song '66 F**king 6' Available For Streaming

"66 Fucking 6", a brand new song from British thrashers ONSLAUGHT, can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below. The track comes off the band's sixth album, "VI", which will be released on September 20 via AFM Records. The follow-up to 2011's "Sounds Of Violence" was mixed by Thomas "Plec" Johansson (TIAMAT, SCAR SYMMETRY) at Panic Room studios in Skara, Sweden.

Comments ONSLAUGHT guitarist Nige Rockett: "Well, the new album, 'VI', is finally complete and ready to roll on September 20th, and man, it has exceeded all our expectations, by a long long way!! We really pushed ourselves to the limits in making this record and I think that truly shines through in the final results.

"'VI' is the most brutal and technical album ONSLAUGHT has ever made, no question. It's old school, it's contemporary and it's fucking aggressive in the extreme, with a few big surprises thrown in for good measure!

"We've gone about the whole album-making process with a completely different approach and mindset this time around, ranging from the artwork (by Pär Olofsson) through to the final mixes with Thomas Johansson, who I must single out for mention along with our drummer Michael Hourihan for really upping the ante in the ass-kicking stakes!

"We're feeling kind of proud right now and pretty confident the fans are gonna dig it too!"

"VI" track listing: 01. A New World Order 02. Chaos Is King 03. Fuel For My Fire 04. Children Of The Sand 05. Slaughterize 06. 66 Fucking 6 07. Cruci-Fiction 08. Dead Man Walking 09. Enemy Of My Enemy

DEATH ANGEL's North American headlining tour in support of "The Dream Calls For Blood" will kick off on October 18 in San Francisco. Support on the trek will come from 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, BATTLECROSS, REVOCATION and DIAMOND PLATE.

"We are so excited to announce this upcoming tour," commented DEATH ANGEL vocalist Mark Osegueda.

"We worked so hard writing, and recording this record! Especially writing this while on the road for the last three years of touring. And it reflects the triumphs, and mainly hardships, of all we went through while touring. The anger, perseverance, and energy was captured on the recording of 'The Dream Calls For Blood'.

"This tour is the PERFECT springboard to launch off of and back on the road; hungrier and more focused then ever! With a lineup of bands handpicked by us, you’re basically sonically ravaged from the moment the lights dim at the beginning of the night until the lights turn back on at the end! I'm confident every band on this bill plan on sending you home feeling like you've survived a massacre that you can't help but brag about.

"Look forward to feeding off each other's energy!

"Stay hungry! Stay thrash! See you on the road, in the pit, and at the bar!!!"

DEEP PURPLE To Release

DEEP PURPLE To Release 'Above And Beyond' Single

DEEP PURPLE will release the track "Above And Beyond" as a CD-single and on seven-inch vinyl on October 25 in Europe. The single artwork, based on the original graphic work of Black Dwarf Designs, can be seen below.

"Above And Beyond" comes off DEEP PURPLE's latest album, "Now What?!", which sold 4,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 115 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"Now What?!", the 19th studio album from DEEP PURPLE, was released in North America on April 30 via earMUSIC, the Hamburg, Germany-based international rock label which is part of Edel Group.

After various songwriting sessions in Europe, the band recorded and mixed the album in Nashville, Tennessee with producer Bob Ezrin (KISS, PINK FLOYD, PETER GABRIEL, ALICE COOPER, KANSAS). The CD contain 11 tracks, including "Out Of Hand", "Weirdistan", "Uncommon Man" and "Above And Beyond". The latter song references the band's late keyboard player, Jon Lord, in the lyric "Souls having touched are forever entwined."

In a recent interview with RadioMetal.com, DEEP PURPLE singer Ian Gillan stated about the songwriting process for "Now What?!": "There were no rules. We started with nothing, except the right attitude; that's all. Every day, it was the same routine: the guys walked in at noon and we all worked until 6 o'clock on the writing sessions. We just stopped at 3 o'clock for a cup of tea. After 6 o'clock, we would go home, have a shower, some dinner and go to bed early, even if I'm always up in the middle of the night, writing lyrics. We start at 10 o' clock the next morning when we're recording. But the writing is always noon until six. It starts with nothing. Ian [Paice, drummer] and Roger [Glover, bassist] would start jamming, playing for an hour non-stop and trying out some rhythms or grooves. They would stop and say, 'No, that's not good,' then start something else and say, 'Remember that. Maybe on Thursday we'll try this again and maybe it'll be a song.' Everything emerged from jamming sessions."

Ex-SKYLARK Singer KIARA LAETITIA To Release New EP Featuring VIRGIN STEELE Cover

Ex-SKYLARK Singer KIARA LAETITIA To Release New EP Featuring VIRGIN STEELE Cover

Spider Rock Promotion has inked a deal with KIARA LAETITIA, ex-vocalist for SKYLARK (and writer, model and actress, too), for the release of her first solo album Fight Now.
The EP will contain four songs: 'Fight Now', 'I’m Not God', 'Miss You Again' and a cover version of VIRGIN STEELE’s classic 'Victory Is Mine'. The EP has been entirely written, arranged and produced by Kiara Laetitia herself and David DeFeis who took a break from his numerous engagements with Virgin Steele to work with Kiara.

The songs have been recorded and mixed at The Hammer of Zeus studios in Long Island by David DeFeis while Ryan Smith (AC/DC, IRON MAIDEN, JOE SATRIANI, BEYONCÉ) at Sterling Sound NYC took care of the mastering duties.

“This work is dark yet melodic and positive at the same time,” says Kiara. “I’ve been through one of the toughest moments in my life and I came out of it as a new person, stronger I should say and this is how the idea for Fight Now came about. It’s probably the most positive song and lyrics I’ve ever written in my entire life! We must never give up ‘cause we just have one life and we have to make the best of it in any way we can, we gotta fight for what’s important, for existence itself…that’s the message."
As for the cover version of 'Victory Is Mine', Kiara explains: “It’s one of my favorite tracks from Virgin Steele and I thought it was the right conclusion for this EP, like I’m saying ‘I’ve been through a lot, now I’m positive about the future ‘cause ‘Victory Is Mine’ if I want it’. All the bad moments in life show us that they’ll pass, that we can be victorious in the end.”

The EP will have its worldwide release on November 22nd via Spider Rock Promotion and 'Fight Now' will be the first single. This work will anticipate a full album due by the end of 2014.

SKILLET Becoming More Of A Family Affair

SKILLET Becoming More Of A Family Affair

According to The Pulse Of Radio, SKILLET has always made music a family affair, with frontman John Cooper and his wife, keyboardist Korey Cooper, bringing their kids on the road for several years now. But the Coopers expanded on that recently by including both their son and daughter on their latest album, "Rise". John Cooper told Loudwire how that came out, explaining, "We were putting together these interludes, because we wanted to tell a story, and I thought the songs went really well together. I was trying to figure out what to do between these songs. In my house we have a workout/studio room. I was on the treadmill and my wife and daughter walked in. My daughter was holding a microphone. I asked what they were doing, and my wife said she had an idea. It turned out really, really well. It was something we weren't planning on."

Asked how his daughter felt hearing herself on the record, Cooper said, "She thinks it's really cool. Of course that meant we had to get my son in there somewhere, too, because he was really excited."

Cooper told The Pulse Of Radio that he enjoys seeing SKILLET fans now bringing their kids to the band's shows. "It's very cool to go to a concert and just see a dad with his 12-year-old son, and they're both rocking out to SKILLET because their dad bought our first record when he was in high school or whatever," he said. "You go to a BON JOVI show or a NICKELBACK show, AEROSMITH, that's what you see — you see generations of fans. And SKILLET is still, you know, quite young, but we have those generations. I think that that's really awesome."

"Rise", SKILLET's ninth studio album, is also the group's first concept record. It debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard album chart back in June and features the singles "Sick Of It" and "Not Gonna Die".

SKILLET is currently on the Carnival Of Madness tour with SHINEDOWN and other acts, with the trek stopping in Morrison, Colorado on Tuesday (September 10) and winding down in Puyallup, Washington on September 18.

The quartet will then head out on a month-long European tour as openers for NICKELBACK beginning in late October, with Russian dates penciled in for December.
