According to the Los Angeles Times, EXTREME guitarist Nuno Bettencourt has bought a home in the Hollywood Hills for $2.15 million. The contemporary features a rooftop swimming pool, spa and cabana with 360-degree views that take in the Hollywood sign. There are high ceilings, a bar, a sauna, four bedrooms, five bathrooms and 5,255 square feet of living space.

Nuno is best known for his work in the rock band EXTREME, which was nominated for a Grammy for its Billboard chart-topping hit "More Than Words". Nuno has worked on many projects including, multiple solo albums, film scores and has also worked with notable artists such as Janet Jackson, Perry Farrell, Robert Palmer and many others.

In 2010, Nuno joined Grammy Award-winning R&B artist Rihanna and became her tour lead guitarist.

"After EXTREME's early success, I got asked all the time to be on pop tours by people like Janet Jackson and others, but I always turned them down," Bettencourt told the Boston Herald. "After I got off the road in 2008, Rihanna's music director Tony Bruno called me, saying, 'I know what you're going to say, but hear me out.'

"I said to Tony, 'But there’s no guitar in Rihanna's songs,'" Bettencourt added. "He told me that's why they wanted me."

According to The Pulse Of Radio, the news that LINKIN PARK singer Chester Bennington was going to be the new frontman — more or less — for STONE TEMPLE PILOTS seems to have divided fans of both bands, but one person thinks it sounds great: Slash. The legendary guitarist, who played in VELVET REVOLVER with former STP vocalist Scott Weiland before dismissing him from that band, tweeted, "On a quick break from interviews, listening to new @STPband w/ @chesterbe sounds fantastic! Really excited for this new line-up."

It was Slash who first hinted that STP had fired Weiland for a second time last December, with the band itself making the official announcement in February.

Slash has made no secret of his problems with Weiland but admitted a while back that he was hardly surprised by them: "You know, we knew what we were getting into going into it and, you know, he managed to do pretty well for a while there. But then he turned around and it was aggravating and frustrating and all those negatives, but at the same time, you can't sit there and be surprised."

Fans were shocked when STONE TEMPLE PILOTS made a surprise appearance at a radio festival in the Los Angeles area last Saturday (May 18), with Bennington making his debut on the mic.

The group performed a new song called "Out Of Time" at the show, putting a studio version online earlier this week. Bennington later said that he was planning on doing more recording and touring with STP, while remaining in LINKIN PARK.

Reunited '80s cult metal outfit SANCTUARY has inked a deal with Century Media Records. The band's "comeback" album — tentatively titled "The Year The Sun Died" — is scheduled for release before the end of the year.

In 2010, four of the founding SANCTUARY members — Warrel Dane, Jim Sheppard, Lenny Rutledge and Dave Budbill — came together for a few select reunion performances. At first, it was just going to be a handful of shows, but the response and chemistry on stage was so overwhelming that the guys changed their minds. Now, some 20 years after they left off, SANCTUARY will continue with their unique mix of U.S. power metal, hard rock and progressive elements and begin work on a new LP.

To complete the lineup, Brad Hull (FORCED ENTRY) will be filling in for former guitar player Sean Blosi.

Comments Dane: "Having been with Century Media since 1995 with NEVERMORE, it was a very comfortable decision for SANCTUARY to sign with them. Century Media has a great team that always delivers for all of their bands. I've known most of them on a first name basis for many years and I look forward to this new chapter in history."

Added Rutledge: "I can speak for every member of SANCTUARY when I say we are all excited to join the Century Media family. We now have the opportunity to work with the best metal record label on the planet. We are looking forward to creating great music with an awesome team behind us."

SANCTUARY released the classic albums "Refuge Denied" and "Into The Mirror Black" during its short existence between 1985 and 1992. Following the band's split, Dane and Sheppard formed NEVERMORE.

Asked about the progress of the songwriting sessions for SANCTUARY's new CD, Dane told GetYourRockOut in August 2012, "We've got so much stuff written that it's hard to sort through, but we played two new songs [at the Bloodstock Open Air festival]. We played the one ballad, it's called 'I Am Low', and we played another one called 'The World Is Wired'. Some of the other stuff is a little heavier, but those songs, I think, are… Sometimes the stuff that isn't as heavy is stronger, so that's why we picked those."

He added, "I don't think anybody is gonna be disappointed, because I am involved in the creative process and I know what's going on and I know where we're going and I know it's gonna be killer."

Regarding how SANCTUARY's reformation came about, Dane told Rock My Monkey TV, "[SANCTUARY guitarist Lenny Rutledge and I] always talked to each other, but never really been friends again. And when the whole thing came about, that we were actually friends again, that's when we started talking more about doing it. And it definitely wasn't because NEVERMORE was imploding... which it was, at that point . . . We all just started talking with each other again. That was kind of the groundwork for it. And then we started saying, 'Well, gosh, let's make music again.' And my god! Lenny is writing some stuff that is so friggin great! Obviously, he's been bottling this up for years, because he really hasn't been doing anything... Well, he's had bands here and there. But he's really writing some great stuff that's really inspiring me, and making me fall in love with music again, with the creative process... everything that revolves around that. Really inspiring me to write really evil lyrics."

On the topic of the sound of SANCTUARY's upcoming studio album, Dane said, "This record is not going to sound like the other two. It might sound very similar to the second one ('Into The Mirror Black'). It's definitely not going to sound like the first one, because we're all a little bit older and I can't come up with a c-clamp for a scrotum and a helium tank . . . It's not going to sound like the old ones... it's 2011. It's still gonna be that good, I think, and there's gonna be high-pitched screaming. I'm making sure of that. With NEVERMORE, high-pitched screaming was never really called for. You know, with SANCTUARY... of course it is."

Svart Records has set a June 14 release date for CANDLEMASS' vinyl-only "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus - Live at Roadburn 2011" album.

CANDLEMASS' debut LP, "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus", is a genre-defining classic if there ever was one — the starting point of modern epic doom metal, even.

In 2010 and 2011, CANDLEMASS invited the original "Epicus" vocalist Johan Längqvist back into the fold for a few select shows celebrating the album's 25th birthday. This vinyl-only release captures the band performing "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus" album live at the sold-out Roadburn festival in Holland in April 2011. Mixed from a professional 32-track recording and mastered vinyl under the supervision of band founder/mainman Leif Edling, this is the ultimate live version of the classic.

The Svart release has the album spread over three sides of vinyl and an etching on side D. The two LPs are wrapped in a gatefold jacket, and the set is available on black or white vinyl. Both versions are limited to 400.

Comments Edling: "No volcano could stop us this time to perform the 'Epicus' album at the Roadburn festival in Holland. It was a very special day, filled with great music, incredible fans, and a band that had a lot of fun doing this!

Norwegian black metllers SATYRICON have always pushed boundaries and never conformed to what was "expected". That mindset continues to this day, as they announce a very special, exclusive show on September 8 at Oslo's Norwegian National Opera House, where they will perform together with Norway's 55-strong National Opera Chorus.

The special event is part of the Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival, and fans of both SATYRICON and the National Opera Chorus can look forward to a very unique and exciting evening, which coincides with the worldwide release of SATYRICON's ninth studio album, which can now be confirmed to be self-titled.

Speaking to AOL's Noisecreep at this year's Inferno festival, Satyr stated about SATYRICON's upcoming album: "To me, it sounds very authentic, it's organic-sounding. And in this digital age where music is mostly played through computers, a lot of that analog vibe gets lost in translation when you play music through medias like that, but I still wanna do it because there's nothing quite like it. To me, it just makes everything sound the way it's supposed to sound — it's dynamical; the music is alive, it's not overly compressed, the levels are not pushed. So, musically speaking, it's a very atmospheric record… This record is full of life. There are a lot of surprises here, but I think it's gonna be a record that's gonna help the black metal movement perhaps find a new way for the future."

Former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted was knocked off stage by an overzealous fan during NEWSTED's May 21 concert at New York City's Highline Ballroom.

According to Metal Insider, Newsted's new band was halfway through a rendition of METALLICA's "Whiplash" when "the fan leapt onstage, appeared to attempt a stage dive into the middle of the audience and instead ran into Newsted from behind, knocking them both off the stage and into the audience. With the crowd stopping the fan in the mosh pit while others yelled at him, a security guard immediately escorted the fan from the venue with one forearm wrapped around his neck, pursued by other members of the venue's security detail.

"Visibly disoriented from a roughly five-foot fall that could have caused serious damage with a slightly different angle, Newsted returned to the stage with the help of security, replacing an in-ear monitor knocked out by the fall and addressing the crowd: 'You know, no matter how many shows I've done, that just happened for the first time. …I trust my brothers here to take care of it. Anyone get a good look at that motherfucker? Don't kill him, just bruise him up a bit.'"

A fan who attended the concert, Ryan D, filmed the incident and posted the clip on YouTube (see below, starting at around 3:08 mark). He tells BLABBERMOUTH.NET: "I caught up with Jason after the show and showed him the video. He was feeling sore a little bit but was still OK. He even said to me, 'Put it on YouTube."

NEWSTED has been confirmed for this year's edition of Gigantour, the critically acclaimed package festival founded in 2005 by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine. Also scheduled to appear on the bill are headliners MEGADETH, along with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, DEVICE, HELLYEAH and DEATH DIVISION.

NEWSTED kicked off its first-ever U.S. tour on April 19 at Red House in Walnut Creek, California. The 14-date trek will conclude on May 23 in Asbury Park, New Jersey and will lead into a number of European festival appearances for the band, which is rouded out by STAIND guitarist Mike Mushok, drummer Jesus Mendez Jr. and guitarist Jessie Farnsworth.

NEWSTED has just completed recording its first full-length album, to be released later this year. NEWSTED began mixing the effort last month, with more details to be announced soon.

NEWSTED's debut EP, "Metal", sold around 6,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 62 on The Billboard 200 chart.

For a long time, SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor seemed the most hesitant to get back into the studio and make a new album following the 2010 death of bassist Paul Gray. But with three years having passed since Gray's death, and with Taylor making three albums with STONE SOUR since then, the singer told The Pulse Of Radio that he thinks 2014 will finally be the year of the KNOT. "I know everybody is pretty keen on getting together and seeing what happens next year, so I mean, if it takes us a year to write an album, so be it," he said. "The main goal is to just get us in the room and just see what happens, you know. If we can get past that first day, I think it'll come together. Now that we're all kind of in better places in our lives and whatnot, it's making it a little easier to be excited about it again. It's just starting to feel like it's time."

SLIPKNOT has performed live over the past two years but has not recorded a new album since 2008's "All Hope Is Gone".

STONE SOUR issued "Audio Secrecy" in 2010, "House Of Gold & Bones - Part 1" last fall and "House Of Gold & Bones - Part 2" last month.

Taylor has also written two books, with the second one, "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Heaven (Or, How I Made Peace With The Paranormal And Stigmatized Zealots And Cynics In The Process)", due out on July 16 through Da Capo Press.

SLIPKNOT plays the Download festival in the U.K. on June 14 and the Graspop Metal Meeting festival in Belgium on June 29.

Sacramento, California's modern death metal juggernauts THE KENNEDY VEIL will enter NB Recording in Santa Rosa, California in June with producer/engineer Nick Botelho (ENIMUS, DEADLY REMAINS, HATCHET) to begin recording their debut full-length, "Trinity Of Falsehood", for a late 2013 release via Unique Leader Records.

Fans were treated to a taste of the new album when the band released "Redemption" and it has been garnering praise ever since. The song has been listened to over 185,000 times on YouTube since it was unveiled in March.

Asked which album in QUEENSRŸCHE's catalog would most closely compare to what the band is doing now, drummer Scott Rockenfield told "Noize In The Attic": "Our big goal was, once we kind of made our transition last year and moved on as a band, and Todd being in the band, and our focus of the live shows and everything, it's always kind of been about looking at what really made QUEENSRŸCHE special. And for the live show, it's the old stuff. And we've been focusing a lot, in the show, doing that, for the last year, and we're continue to focus on doing that. On the record, I think the vein of what the record is a combination of all that great old stuff that we're kind of known best for. I mean, for me, I kind of summarize it by saying, to me, it's everything from the [debut] EP up to 'Empire', or maybe even 'Promised Land' at that point, which is, to me, the most defining catalog that we've ever done. And I think for this record, it's visiting that and taking that into the future."

Added guitarist Michael Wilton: "I also think that when you hear this record, each song is gonna be unique in its own. For people that have heard the single that's on YouTube called 'Redemption'. Everybody's asking, 'Is the album gonna sound just like that?' And I can say, 'No.' What's great about this record is that every individual here was in the creative process and the writing — there was no outside writers, like [there were] on the last few albums. And it really shows, and it's a real great blend of everybody's strength and their creative elements, and the songs are definitely reflective of the personalities of this band right now."

Continued Scott: "I think that's important. Especially what Michael was saying. I think the focus of that earlier stuff, there was a massive chemistry between all of us that really worked, and we wanted to find that chemistry again, 'cause we've, unfortunately, had to struggle with that the last few years. But we always knew that that's what we wanted to do, so now that we're able to do that, finding that chemistry and that energy that got us to make those records is what that energy now is in this record. And Michael's right: the songs, there's a great variety of things in it, but they're all QUEENSRŸCHE, they're all us doing it, it's our chemistry of working together."

Said Michael: "If you listen to all the other albums, like from 'Promised Land' back to the EP, you're gonna hear all these dynamics, from song after another song — you're gonna hear those dynamics, and that's the same sort of approach we wanted to take on this new one."

Five long years since their last release, Milwaukee metal band MISERY SIGNALS will return on July 23 with its new album, "Absent Light".

Foregoing the traditional record label release model, MISERY SIGNALS launched an Indiegogo campaign in March to work directly with fans to crowd-fund the new album by offering unique funding packages that included handwritten lyrics, vinyl box set, music lessons, listening parties and more. By May, the band had not only reached their funding goal, but had surpassed it by double the amount. The support was a definite sign that fans were eagerly awaiting new music from the seminal band.

British power metal mercenaries TANK recently tapped former DRAGONFORCE and current I AM I singer ZP Theart to front the band for their current shows while TANK's most recent vocalist, Doogie White (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, RAINBOW, CORNERSTONE), is out on tour and recording in the studio with Michael Schenker (ex-SCORPIONS, UFO).

Australian metallers PEGAZUS have announced the addition of vocalist Axel Winter to the group's ranks. Axel replaces Justin Fleming, who made an appearance by the band's latest CD, "In Metal We Trust".

KING DIAMOND in December signed a new three-album worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records.

Commented the band's vocalist and namesake: "This is gonna be awesome! Another perfect piece of the puzzle. We have the full backup of Metal Blade, and there's an understanding between us that goes much, much deeper than before.

"Our new business setup will noticeably benefit the fans in so many ways. You must have already noticed some of all the cool new stuff that is happening. Now we can't wait to get out there and start touring again!"

After a six-year touring hiatus, KING DIAMOND triumphantly returned to the stage in 2012 for European festivals Hellfest and Sweden Rock.

In a March 2012 interview with the Swedish metal blog Bara Metal, King Diamond stated about what he did during his year-long break, "Well, we did keep up with people. A lot. We started a thing where… it's a Skype web site where people will sign up. And now and then I will call up fans and we talk. We have done that several times. We will call up three fans through that way, 'King Diamond is calling you,' and it could be one from Puerto Rico, one from Sweden, one from Scotland. We pick them randomly, but not the same person twice. Then we sit and talk for an hour. They can ask anything. They usually have a lot of question that are the same as the fans ask in the fan club, the Coven. So we get a lot of info out that way, and we upload it so other can listen to it. We are certainly in touch with our fans."

When asked if there are plans to release new music in 2013, King replied, "That is absolutely the plan. Something has to go totally wrong for us not to do that. We will write material this fall. Hopefully during the autumn, we might do something here in the U.S., after the festivals. But we will not be doing a long tour, it is still a test, we will see what happens. We do not want to take stupid chances, it has to be done properly. And we have a lot to do still, but things are looking good."

King, 56, underwent open-heart triple-bypass surgery in November 2010. He has since completed his cardiac rehabilitation program and has stopped smoking entirely, changed his diet and is getting regular exercise.

King Diamond made his long-anticipated return to the stage with his MERCYFUL FATE bandmates Hank Shermann, Timi Hansen and Michael Denner on December 7, 2011 at the second of four intimate shows at the Fillmore in San Francisco as part of METALLICA's week-long celebration of its 30th anniversary as a band for fan club members only.

KING DIAMOND received a Grammy nomination in the "Best Metal Performance" category for the track "Never Ending Hill" off the group's latest album, "Give Me Your Soul … Please".

"Give Me Your Soul ... Please" entered the Swedish national chart at position No. 28. The CD also landed at No. 58 on the Danish chart (the second highest new entry on the chart behind VELVET REVOLVER).

"Give Me Your Soul ... Please" sold 4,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 174 on The Billboard 200 chart.

To celebrate my 30 years as a singer next year, Blaze Bayley (WOLFSBANE, ex-IRON MAIDEN) will release a booklet with career information, albums, personal comments and stories, tour dates and pictures. Blaze says: "I will add fan pictures to the booklet as YOU have made it possible for me to keep going for 30 years!

"You can send your favorite picture with Blaze to management@blazebayley.net (only pictures you own rights to with email subject 'Booklet fanpicture'). Around 80 pictures will be picked to be added to the booklet."

Blaze released a collaborative acoustic EP with Belgium-based classical guitarist Thomas Zwijsen, "Russian Holiday" on February 5. The effort features four re-arranged songs from previous albums and one brand new song written by Bayley and Zwijsen.

"Russian Holiday" includes a "full classical guitar arrangement" of the IRON MAIDEN song "Sign Of The Cross", which the duo performed on their 2012 U.K. acoustic tour.

Bayley's latest studio album, "The King Of Metal", was released in March 2012. The CD was recorded at Fear Studio in Ravenna, Italy.

The 49-year-old Bayley, who was born in Birmingham, was the original frontman in WOLFSBANE, but left in 1994 to replace Bruce Dickinson as the lead singer of IRON MAIDEN.

RED FANG return this fall with their as-yet-untitled third studio album on Relapse Records. The Portland-based group is currently in the studio finishing the disc with the producer Chris Funk (DECEMBERISTS) and mixer Vance Powell (THE WHITE STRIPES, RACONTEURS, KINGS OF LEON). This same team worked on RED FANG's last album, "Murder The Mountains", tagged by NPR as "a sleeker style of riff-heavy metal" (April 2011) and Alternative Press magazine as "a near masterpiece of tangled tar pit riffs and whisky-and-bong-hit vocals" (April 2011).

Comments the band: "We're hyper excited about this new album. The basic tracks are like rabid monkeys we're wrangling at Type Foundry in our hometown of Portland. Producer Chris Funk has almost been amputated twice. Surprise guests abound! We're in the final moments before all systems are go on this sucker. Dig people!"

On Friday, May 24, RED FANG will head to the picturesque Gorge Amphitheater outside Seattle for their first festival appearance this year at Sasquatch! The band will then hit the road for European trek through mid-July with festival stops at Sonisphere, Download, Hellfest, Reload, With Full Force and Eistenaflug, among others. Expect the group to announce a full U.S. run for late summer.

Formed in 2005, RED FANG — Bryan Giles (guitar/vocals), Aaron Beam (bass/vocals), David Sullivan (guitar), John Sherman (drums) — has two albums under their belts: their 2009 self-titled debut on Sargent House and 2011's "Murder The Mountains" on Relapse Records.

But that's typical with records — you have to have them in on time. So sometimes you compromise in areas. Luckily, with this situation, we get to go back and correct some areas in the sound where we thought it was kind of lacking. So that's fine. I've done that on… gosh… probably three quarters of the records I've ever made. It's no new thing, but it's a luxury when you get to fix it."

"Frequency Unknown" is packaged with bonus tracks — four QUEENSRŸCHE classics, newly recorded, including the smash hit single "Silent Lucidity". Guest musicians on the CD include K.K. SISTER SIN's third album, "Now And Forever", entered the official chart in the band's home country of Sweden at position No. 44. In a 2012 interview with Loudwire, SISTER SIN singer Liv Jagrell stated about the new album title: "The title 'Now And Forever' is kind of a statement for us as a band. As a band and as individuals, we have been through quite a lot of things, a lot of troubles and things that might break up bands but we're so dedicated to this band. So that's the title — we are here now and hopefully forever. We won't give up even if something goes wrong."

Asked what keeps the band going after all these years, Liv said: "Yes, it's been almost a decade — at least for me and Dave [Sunberg], the drummer — because we started the band from the beginning, and yeah, it's kind of a decade now; that's a long time. It's really hard today with the business, there's so many bands, so much competition out there, no money whatsoever and all the things with downloads. I mean, it could be good but also bad, depending on how you look at it. When I started to play music at 15, the music business and scene was totally different and you could actually make money from it. When I was 15, I just decided, 'I'm going to play music my whole life and I'm going to be a rock star' — that kind of attitude. So I spent all 15 years to convince myself that that's the only thing I will ever, ever do, so that's why I can't give up because I programmed my brain to believe that I will do this forever. I think that's why we don't give up and why sometimes other bands do — they find other opportunities and other things they love, too, they have something else you actually can do and you'll probably do that because that will make you money and a better living. If you just prepare your whole life to be in the music business and tell yourself, 'This is what I'm going to do, I'm not going to do anything else,' it's kind of foolish and childish, but in that way you just can't give up. People, of course, give up and I'm not saying I'm not going to do it years from now, but right now I still feel like I have to fight for that dream that I had as a teenager. Obviously, we all have gained a lot and experienced so much, but we're still a little bit far away that whole kind of — living with the music or for the music thing — close but still far away. [laughs] I think that's what drives us."

Razor & Tie has announced the signing of the influential post-hardcore act CHIODOS. The band is currently well into the writing process of its forthcoming studio album which will be released through a newly created band label imprint via Razor & Tie. The new music sees founding members Bradley Bell, Pat Mcmanaman, Derrick Frost and Matt Goddard reunited with charismatic founding frontman Craig Owens and also introduces fans to the band's newest member, guitarist Thomas Erak (formerly of THE FALL OF TROY).

CHIODOS will perform on the main stage of this summer's Vans Warped Tour beginning on June 15 in Seattle, Washington.

Commented Owens: “We're very excited to be working with Razor & Tie. The label is one that we as a band have looked to as a source of integrity-filled rock music for some time now.

"Having our own imprint gives us the opportunity to be as creative as we choose, while also giving us a way to get it to the fans in a direct and focused way.

"This will be the first time we have released music together since 2008. To say that we are anxious is an understatement.”

Added Bell: "We're extremely excited to do the Warped tour again. It's a tour we first did seven years ago that helped define us as a band and as people.

Formed in 2001 in Davison, Michigan (just outside Flint), CHIODOS released two full-length studio albums with Owens ("All's Well That Ends Well" and "Bone Palace Ballet"), resulting in sales of over 500,000 units and 740,000 digital tracks in North America alone. During a well-documented brief time apart from CHIODOS, Owens formed/played with new band D.R.U.G.S. and CHIODOS released its third album, "Illuminaudio", in 2010. Original vocalist Kyle Anderson and multi-instrumentalist Michael Leo Valeri (currently of THE NORTHERN/ASCARIASIS) thought long and hard about how to build on the tonal and lyrical resonance of Malachi, ultimately deciding the goal of the project was not an attempt to revisit previous successes and re-explore the obvious musical territory.
Anderson made this comment on the new EP: “I’ve had the urge to provide the long-time fans of CA with a new release, but I have been busy with my main project THE AFTERIMAGE. I can wholeheartedly say this record will be the most punishing and relentlessly honest release to date from CA.”

Wormholedeath/Aural Music Group has announced the signing of Italian symphonic metal band ELEGY OF MADNESS. Wormholedeath will release their album, Brave Dreams, worldwide through Aural Music Group/Wormholedeath Japan.

MUNICIPAL WASTE guitarist Ryan Waste has issued the following update on his side-project VOLTURE (where he plays bass):

"For those of you in the true heavy metal world, here's the latest on all that is Volture. We fell on some rough times last year. Our label went under, we came back from Europe in debt, our singer Brent Hubbard no longer wanted to tour and he parted ways amicably with the band. We didn't know what the future held for us, but Volture kept on trucking and writing music without a singer. Our heavy metal machine would not be stopped.
Onward we searched for the right vocalist to complete our band. Our quest would soon come to an end when we auditioned Jack Bauer. He rolled up on his chain mail-clad motorcycle and we immediately caught a good vibe from him. Jack nailed our old songs at practice, securing his position as our new vocalist. Volture barreled on writing and recording new material with Jack and his voice fit the style seamlessly. As a passing of the torch, our original singer Brent came into the studio and laid some guest vocals with Jack on several of the tracks for the new album. Fans of classic Volture will not be disappointed.

Fast forward to 2013. We signed to High Roller Records and our first full-length album is due out this September. Expect a serious heavy metal attack from Jack on our upcoming LP entitled On The Edge."

LINKIN PARK frontman Chester Bennington surprised fans on Saturday (May 18), taking the stage with the STONE TEMPLE PILOTS at the 2013 KROQ Weenie Roast in Irvine, California. This marked the first public appearance for the three non-singing group members since firing Scott Weiland earlier in the year.

During the surprise set, the group also debuted a new track called "Out Of Time" which is available as a free download for a short period of time.

Speaking about his future with STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, Bennington told the KROQ morning radio program "The Kevin & Bean Show": "Every band has its own kinda vibe. STONE TEMPLE PILOTS has this sexier, more classic rock feel to it. LINKIN PARK is a very modern, very tech-heavy type of band. It was kind of nice. I got to use my voice tonight. I got to sing and show my range a little bit. I still got to through a little scream in here and there but it's really just so much different. I grew up listening to these guys. When this opportunity came up, it was just like a no-brainer."

Bennington continued: "We couldn't really plan a tour until tonight because we couldn't let people know what was going on. Now the cat's out of the bag so we're going to go out and make more music and go play more shows and have some fun."

STP officially fired Weiland in February after weeks of rumors about his status, issuing a terse statement that read, "STONE TEMPLE PILOTS have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland."

This was the second time that the band has parted ways with its often troubled frontman, following a split in 2002.

Weiland, who was about to launch a solo tour at the time of his dismissal, denied at first that he had been fired, saying that STONE TEMPLE PILOTS legally could not exist or use that name without all four members of the group in the lineup.

He reiterated that view during an interview with a Nevada radio station, saying, "I started the band . . . there's things in place, like certain clauses that are in place that keep that from happening."

Back in 1969, Billy F. Gibbons, Frank Beard and Dusty Hill joined together in Houston as ZZ TOP. The group that would unassumingly go on to be known as That Little Ol' Band From Texas soon made rock history with a string of hugely successful record releases and tour dates. Over the next 20 years, the trio went on to critical and commercial success, selling millions of albums and concert tickets around the world, while earning induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and status as one of the only bands to have been awarded an RIAA Diamond (domestic sales of 10 million or more) album.
On June 11th, Rhino Records will explore the impressive scope of ZZ Top's musical legacy with a boxed set that features the original mixes for the band's first 10 albums including, for the first time on CD, the original mixes for ZZ Top's First Album, Rio Grande Mud, and Tejas.

The set, including the albums initially released on the London label as well as the string of Warner Bros. hits that followed, includes ZZ Top’s First Album (1971), Rio Grande Mud (1972), Tres Hombres (1973), Fandango! (1975), Tejas (1976), Degüello (1979), El Loco (1981), Eliminator (1983), Afterburner (1985) and Recycler (1990). Each album is presented in a wallet sleeve that faithfully reproduces the original artwork, including the gatefold designs used for Tres Hombres and Tejas.
Today, Gibbons, Hill and Beard remain together performing and recording as, they often say, “the same three guys playing the same three chords.” The trio offered a statement regarding the forthcoming release of ZZ Top: The Complete Studio Albums (1970-1990): “We're gratified that the albums from the first 20 years of the band are going to be made available in this set. French black/death band DUNKELNACHT have inked a deal with Wormholedeath/Aural Music Group, who will release their debut album titled Revelatio worldwide through Aural Music Group/Wormholedeath Japan. The album was mixed at Realsound Studio (Italy) by Wahoomi Corvi. Release date is due during 2013, still to be scheduled.
The band comment: "DunkelNacht is very pleased to start working with Worm Hole Death. From the very first contact, the label has shown a serious and impressive response. Then, Worm Hole Death made a proposal that we could not refuse. Finally, the atmosphere is there and for us, it is very important to work in these conditions, gathering the seriousness and the frienship. We sincerely believe that this deal is perfect for our new album called Revelatio. Now, let's give way for music and art."

A&R "Worm" stated: "I have been a fan of Dunkelnacht since I've known them and at the end I decided to sign the band since they produced such an intense, emotional and spooky album. They are serious guys, some of them have a school of music and somehow live with and for music, just like me. I also like their visual concepts that are always dark and gloomy.
