AMERICAN DOG: 'Devil Dog' Video Released"Devil Dog", the new video from Columbus, Ohio's AMERICAN DOG, can be seen below. The song comes off the band's latest studio album, "Poison Smile". Filmed at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, the Rob Kern-directed (From Out Of Nowhere) clip is being released in advance of a run of shows that sees the band playing with acts such as AIRBOURNE, FASTER PUSSYCAT and TUFF.
"Devil Dog" is the second video from "Poison Smile". The first clip — for the song "Just Like Charlie Sheen" — landed in Classic Rock magazine's Top 30 Music Videos Of 2012.
"We've been working on new material for another new studio record, but 'Poison Smile' is still selling well," says AMERICAN DOG frontman Michael Hannon, "So we figured we'd just keep pushing the damn thing and play more shows behind it!"
AMERICAN DOG's April 6 headline performance at Route 33-Rhythm and Brews includes special guest, heavy metal journalist/author Martin Popoff. Martin will be on hand to emcee the show and autograph copies of his latest biographies on TED NUGENT, THIN LIZZY and SCORPIONS along with a dozen of his other books covering the world of hard rock and metal.

SEVENDUST: 'Decay' Video Released"Decay", the new video from SEVENDUST, can be seen below. The track comes off the band's ninth studio album, "Black Out The Sun", which is being released on March 26 via SEVENDUST's 7Bros. Records label (through Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group). The CD was recorded at Architekt Music studios in Butler, New Jersey with engineer Mike Ferretti.
SEVENDUST drummer Morgan Rose told Billboard.com that "Decay" actually came from a riff left over from the "Cold Ray Memory" sessions.
"We were starting to get burnt and we didn't want to push it," Rose recalls. "So we had this riff, and we said, 'Let's jam it and see if anything comes of it.' And before you know it, it became a song that ends up on the record, and everybody listens to it and they end up picking that as the single, which was pretty cool."
"Black Out The Sun" track listing:
01. Memory
02. Faithless
03. 'Till Death
04. Mountain
05. Cold As War
06. Black Out The Sun
07. Nobody Wants It
08. Dead Roses
09. Decay
10. Dark AM
11. Picture Perfect
12. Got A Feeling
13. Murder Bar
The song "Murder Bar" was reportedly inspired by a Butler, New Jersey bar across from the hotel where SEVENDUST was staying while recording the new CD. Rumor had it the place was popular with many of New Jersey's murderers.
"It's a basic SEVENDUST record," guitarist Clint Lowery recently told "Source Of The Sound With Wendy Campbell". "There's nothing, like, too completely different than anything we've done before. It's got a darker vibe to it. We've got a good amount of the programming element in there. It's a lot of what we do — it's heavy and it's got its melodic element in it. So if you're a SEVENDUST fan, it's more along the lines of the second and third records we did — it's kind of like that. It's got a couple of throwback vibes to it. 'Animosity' and 'Home' [1999], if I can put those two records together, it would [sound similar to the new CD]."

In its mission statement, Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star says, "We feel our lullaby line fills a vacant musical niche. There are other lines of pop music lullabies but we decided to take the approach of being high end musically rather than simply doing these as a novelty. After all, just because the music is for a baby it doesn’t have to sound unsophisticated. We feel we owe it to the artists that we are covering to do their music justice and our standard of quality transcends the lullaby genre. In fact, in addition to soothing babies our fans use our music for yoga, massage and sleep therapy or just general relaxation. We like to call them 'lullabies for all ages' and the diversity of use is testament to that."

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE: More New Album Details RevealedQUEENS OF THE STONE AGE will release its sixth studio album, "…Like Clockwork", this June on Matador Recorda, which is part of Beggars Group, the largest independent label group in the world. Described by QUEENS principal Joshua Homme as "an audio documentary of a manic year," "…Like Clockwork" is the band's first full-length collection of all-new material since 2007's "Era Vulgaris", as well as the group's debut release on new label partner Matador. The group was previously signed to Interscope.
"…Like Clockwork" will be supported by an extensive world tour, marking QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's return to the stage for the first time since the limited dates that commemorated the 2011 re-release of the band's self-titled 1998 debut.
"…Like Clockwork" was produced by Joshua Homme and QOTSA and recorded by Mark Rankin at Pink Duck Studios in Burbank, California. The CD includes drums by Dave Grohl (FOO FIGHTERS, NIRVANA), Joey Castillo and Jon Theodore, and guest appearances by Sir Elton John, Trent Reznor (NINE INCH NAILS), Mark Lanegan (SCREAMING TREES), ex-QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE bassist/vocalist Nick Oliveri, Jake Shears (THE SCISSOR SISTERS), James Lavelle and Alex Turner.
The official QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE web site has been updated to include the new artwork below and a series of sound snippets that are presumably taken from the forthcoming CD.
To hear the audio samples, visit the QOTSA site, click the image, hit refresh and repeat.
Grohl recently confirmed that he will not be part of the QUEENS touring lineup. Grohl played drums on the QUEENS' 2002 album, "Songs For The Deaf", and did go on a short club tour with the group before returning to active duty with the FOOS — who took QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE out as support.
Grohl stepped in for the recording sessions after the group parted ways with longtime drummer Joey Castillo.
"Era Vulgaris" came out in June 2007 and entered the Billboard chart at No. 14. 2

STRAPPING YOUNG LAD: More Album Covers For 'The Complete Works' UnveiledFinnish extreme metal non-profit Blood Music has set an April 17 release date for the incredibly long-overdue vinyl worship session of every last bit of STRAPPING YOUNG LAD's music one could ever ask for.
The monstrous limited edition 7xLP box set discography will contain all five STRAPPING YOUNG LAD full-lengths, as well as extra vinyl dedicated to the band's non-album material, plus other special gifts yet to be announced.
The genre-busting Canadian industrial/death band has never seen their seminal albums "Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing", "SYL" nor "The New Black" touch wax before. Their other two records — "City" and "Alien" — were pressed in ultra-limited numbers of 500 copies only and sold out within months of their release.
The front cover for every STRAPPING YOUNG LAD album was re-designed and re-imagined for the new SYL "The Complete Works" box set by Travis Smith of Seempieces in conjunction with Devin Townsend and Jed Simon of STRAPPING YOUNG LAD and Blood Music, compiling the pieces into a uniform collection. The designs were based on the albums' original artworks and aural feeling.
"Heavy As A Really Heavy Thing": This LP cover was created to exhibit the cracked and fractured expression in SYL's debut work. Devin Townsend led the initial design process, requesting a clean and pure approach to the artwork.
"City": This LP cover was created to capture the glitchy, glossy, technical, out-of-control feeling of SYL's brilliant sophomore effort. This album saw SYL come into its own in spades — including the first formation of the actual, physical band. "City" was the most difficult of the covers to realize, with heavy involvement by Devin Townsend, Jed Simon and Blood Music all striving to capture the perfect feeling of the album, while giving a deep nod to the original, iconic artwork.
"The New Black": This LP cover was created using large brushstrokes to accentuate the colorful, crumbling, and dissipating form displayed in the band's final hour.
For more information, visit www.blood-music.com.
STRAPPING YOUNG LAD was a heavily-loved Canadian extreme metal band who genre-bent from progressive death to industrial metal in the blink of an eye. They are most well-known for their unique leader, Devin Townsend, whose dark lyrical humor and insane stage antics catapulted them into every '90s high school metalhead's dreams. Townsend has gone on to further acclaim in his solo act, DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT.
In a recent Twitter posting, Devin stated about the possibility of new STRAPPING YOUNG LAD tours and music: "I'm not doing SYL anymore as I'm not at that point of my life anymore. Nothing to do with 'anger' etc. I have changed. I like to think as folks get older, most people accept change. I love the band, I just am not the same dude anymore." 9

AMARANTHE Featuring SCARPOINT Singer: Budapest Footage AvailableDue to scheduling conflicts and for family reasons, Andy Solveström — who normally handles screaming vocals for Swedish metallers AMARANTHE — is sitting out the band's current European tour with STRATOVARIUS. AMARANTHE states: "We are obviously sad about this, but the show must go on! Henrik Englund from Swedish band SCARPOINT [is] joining us instead! We are stoked by having our good friend along, and you will not be disappointed with the show we will put on!"
Fan-filmed video footage of AMARANTHE's March 23 performance in Budapest, Hungary can be seen below.
AMARANTHE's sophomore album, "The Nexus", is being released on March 26 (one day earlier internationally) via Spinefarm. The cover artwork was created by Gustavo Sazes and can be seen below. The album was once again recorded at Hansen studios in Ribe, Denmark with producer Jacob Hansen.
The album's title track was released as the first single single via iTunes and the video the track was directed by Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Film Company, who has previously worked with DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL, IN FLAMES, SONIC SYNDICATE and KAMELOT, among others.
Comments AMARANTHE guitarist/composer Olof Mörck: "This time we went all the way with our futuristic dream-nightmare — a no-compromise vision steeped in deep contrast between the mechanically ultra-heavy and shimmering serene melody. 'The Nexus' is everything we dreamed about doing with our debut album; we laboured to make this offering as diverse as it is direct and catchy… and remember, no-one can be told what 'The Nexus' is — you have to hear it for yourself!"
He added: "Our main inspiration behind the ['The Nexus'] video was to create a decidedly cinematic feel, in the vein of a Hollywood action movie, with a slightly darker angle than our previous videos. We wanted to have lots of extras and explosive action scenes, and we wanted it to be done well; we knew Patric Ullaeus was the right man for the job. The end result is a dynamic, intense and entertaining music video with an original flair."
AMARANTHE's self-titled debut album was released in Europe in April 2011 via Spinefarm Records.
AMARANTHE vocalist Elize Ryd has been filling the female singer spot on KAMELOT's European, South and North American tours.

FLOOR Signs With SEASON OF MISTSeason of Mist has announced the signing of the widely respected underground rock band FLOOR.
FLOOR — Steve Brooks on guitar and vocals, Anthony Vialon on bass and Henry Wilson on drums — recently reunited on the heels of its career retrospective "Below And Beyond" box set, and is preparing to enter the studio to record a new CD.
Regarding the signing, Vialon said: "Breaking up in 2003, FLOOR got back together in 2010 to tour in support of their 'Below And Beyond' box set.
"We'd noticed that our fan base had grown exponentially and doing a new record, kind of picking up where we'd left off, was something we agreed we should focus on.
"Their staff are fans of the band and since we seem to appeal to multiple genres, we believe Season Of Mist will be able to help us with that."
FLOOR was originally formed by Brooks and Vialon in 1992, and issued singles on respected underground punk labels like No Idea, Bovine, Rhetoric and more. The band released a self-titled full-length album in 2002 before splitting. Brooks went on to form another critically acclaimed band, TORCHE, while Wilson launched DOVE.
FLOOR will hit the road late spring for short run of dates before they enter the studio. The run will begin on March 27 in Charlotte, North Carolina and conclude on April 10 in Birmingham, Alabama. Support on all dates comes from Joe Preston's THRONES.

ARTLANTICA: Debut Album Details RevealedSPV/Steamhammer has announced the signing of the melodic metal outfit ARTLANTICA to a worldwide deal.
Commented ARTLANTICA guitarist Roger Staffelbach: "After all the blood, sweat and tears we've put into making that album, we're more than happy and excited to see our album getting released by one of worlds finest companies, SPV/Steamhammer. It's a true pleasure to work with Olly Hahn and all at SPV and we're confident that this is only the beginning. A big hello and thank you go out to Olly Hahn, all at SPV and Peter Knorn from our management (UTM) for sharing our vision and making this happen."
Olly Hahn, A&R at Steamhammer, adds: "What do we have here: great melodies, awesome guitar virtuosity and a tight band which knows how to play melodic metal how it should be. We are more than happy to welcome ARTLANTICA to the SPV family!"
Great vocal melodies with anthemic potential, virtuoso guitar and keyboard passages, including spectacular solos, in addition to a blistering rhythm section which gives the songs their pace, groove and dynamics: the very ingredients which guaranteed seven brilliant releases in ten years from the American-Swiss cult act ARTENSION and caused a global stir on "The End Of Never", the only album by ARTENSION's successor ANGEL OF EDEN, also inspire listeners on ARTLANTICA's debut album "Across The Seven Seas".
This doesn't really come as a surprise: after all, ARTLANTICA features three of the most important driving forces behind ANGEL OF EDEN in guitarist Roger Staffelbach, frontman John West and keyboardist Mistheria. In addition, Staffelbach and West (ARTENSION, ROYAL HUNT) belonged to were the driving forces and founding members of ARTENSION (together with Vitalij Kuprij, now of TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA) and Mistheria has made a name for himself with his collaborations with Bruce Dickinson and Rob Rock. All three are, without a doubt, real masters of their trade who have combined their talents to present ten brilliant new songs. Staffelbach describes the result as "powerful, heavy, occasionally majestic, grooving, melodious and timeless. Each instrument has its place, none of them sounds too dominant, everything has only one purpose, to serve the song."
Staffelbach, West and Mistheria enjoy an excellent reputation among their colleagues and can pick and choose when it comes to selecting their guest musicians: "Across The Seven Seas" features Dani Löble (HELLOWEEN) and John Macaluso (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, TNT, ARK) on drums, the bass parts were recorded by bass icon Steve DiGiorgio (SADUS, TESTAMENT), who also previously worked with ARTENSION and ANGEL OF EDEN. And last but by no means least, ARTLANTICA succeeded in enlisting none less than Chris Caffery of SAVATAGE and TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA as their guest guitarist. The result of this high-calibre collaboration was mixed and mastered at Tommy Newton's (HELLOWEEN, GAMMA RAY) Area 51 studios, with Newton also adding his extensive expertise.
"Across The Seven Seas" will be released in the USA on June 4 and in Europe on May 27 as a CD and digital download (including one bonus track, "Stormbringer").
"Across The Seven Seas" track listing:
01. 2012 (04:00)
02. Devout (04:36)
03. Across The Seven Seas (04:53)
04. You're Still Away (05:19)
05. Ode To My Angel (03:54)
06. Fight For The Light (04:21)
07. Demon In My Mind (04:37)
08. Return Of The Pharaoh Pt. 3 (05:43)
09. Heresy (04:49)

TODD LA TORRE-Fronted Version Of QUEENSRŸCHE; Full Version Of 'Redemption' Song Streaming"Redemption", a brand new song from QUEENSRŸCHE — Todd La Torre (vocals), Michael Wilton (guitar), Eddie Jackson (bass), Scott Rockenfield (drums) and Parker Lundgren (guitar) — can be streamed in the YouTUbe clip below. The track comes off the band's new album, due on June 11 via Century Media Records. The drums for the CD were recorded at London Bridge Studios in Seattle, Washington with producer James "Jimbo" Barton — the man who engineered and mixed the band's classic 1988 LP, "Operation: Mindcrime", and its 1990 follow-up, "Empire", and co-produced 1994's "Promised Land". The rest of the music and vocals were laid down at several different facilities on the West Coast.
In a recent interview with Metal Assault, Rockenfield stated about QUEENSRŸCHE's renewed collaboration with Barton: "It's a great thing — we're really excited about it, he's really excited about it. We've wanted to work with him for a while, but for whatever reason, we just hadn't gone there yet. This is a great time for us to do that, though. We all discussed who we wanted to do the record with, and he was one of the first names that came up. It was easy for us to pick up the phone and call him. It was like our relationship picked up right where it left off. He's a very creative guy that did some great records with us in the past. I think that's one of the most important things when it comes to why we want to work with him."
Asked if fans will see a return to the progressive metal sound QUEENSRŸCHE had in the '80s, Scott said: "What we're trying to do, and what has been really interesting since Todd has jumped into the band, we're trying to revisit the old QUEENSRŸCHE catalog — stuff off of the EP and "The Warning". That's always been a part of what we are, so yeah, definitely! I think in my opinion, we're really revisiting that vibe of why that music was special back then for us. There will be a modern flair to it, though, just because we're in the modern age. The fun thing about Jimbo being a part of it is that he can help tie together the two sides. He does come from our past and some of the great records and some of the great sounds that we're known for, but he's also living in the modern age and doing some interesting things as well. I think it's going to be a really great QUEENSRŸCHE record. People are going to go, 'Wow, that's QUEENSRŸCHE! That sounds just like what we've known them to be, and what we would expect them to now be.' That's what I think peple will get out of it."
Speaking to Rocket Sports & Entertainment, La Torre stated about the musical direction of QUEENSRŸCHE's new album: "There's something that you'd say, 'Hey, that sounds like it could have been off 'Rage For Order'," or 'This sounds kind of like 'Mindcrime'-ish,' or "This could be an 'Empire' thing,' but with a new flavor on it. There's some new sounds… All of this is a very wonderful, natural, quality piece of music and all of us feel that way. Are we gonna say it's a balls-to-the-wall heavy album? No. It's a hard rock record with some metal elements to it. But I would never want to say that it's a heavy metal record because I don't want to box in QUEENSRŸCHE. I don't want to box our sound in. If we want to use strings and be orchestrated, we can do that. If I want to scream 'till I'm blue in the face, you know, we can do that. If Michael wants to play something really shreddin or soft and pretty, we want to have all of those avenues to go down without boxing us into a genre or niche. Overall, I think it's a strong record. It's very true and authentic to us. And we hope that that translates musically to the fans. And everyone here thinks differently. But, overall, I think that people are really gonna like it, and I think it's a huge deviation from the last couple records. It was only the band writing. There's no outside influence." 7

BARONESS Parts Ways With Bassist, DrummerSavannah, Georgia-based quartet BARONESS was involved in a road accident on August 15, 2012 in England when the band's tour bus reportedly plummeted for 30 feet over a viaduct after going through a security barrier during heavy rain. Nine people, including the four members of the group, were sent to the hospital, two of them with serious injuries. BARONESS frontman John Baizley and guitarist Peter Adams have since played a handful of acoustic shows and the band has scheduled an appearance at this year's Bonnaroo festival, set to take place June 13-16 in Manchester, Tennessee.
Baizley has now issued the following update on BARONESS' current status and future activities:
"Nothing can truly prepare you for a brush with death. The event is unique one, singular to the observer. Trust me, you don't want to invite the experience.
"Our bus accident left indelible marks, external and internal, physical and mental, you name it. Each of the nine of us went through and continues to go through an entirely different, yet common experience. We are tied to each other by a trauma, which, despite its damage, has been made individually easier through our shared ordeal. While I would never wish the incident on anyone, I cannot imagine going through that wreck alone.
"Thankfully, injury was not dealt out evenly; unfortunately, it was dealt in great supply. Each of the nine of us now finds our self in a drastically different circumstance, and we each move forward accordingly.
"There are two important things to note. First, we are all healthy. We are recovering at different rates, and we'll all be fine in the end. Second, BARONESS has made a commitment to pick up where we left off, and get back out on tour, where we belong. In fact, I am personally staking my recovery on this principle; it gives me direction and something to look forward to (finally).
"However, for some of us, the accident necessitated a change that would prevent them from performing music or touring. It is with sadness that we must announce that [bassist] Matt Maggioni and [drummer] Allen Blickle will not continue touring with BARONESS. The details of their departure are not sensational; they do not come with hard feelings. Nor are the details going to be public; suffice it to say we'd like to keep to ourselves the finer points of this situation, to respect the privacy of all involved.
"While the nine of us must respect the significance of the bus accident in Bath, we must also move away from it and get back to our lives. Simply put, some of the effects and injuries were severe enough to prohibit further activity in BARONESS.
"While we would never have asked them to leave; we have the utmost sympathy for this situation, and in earnest, we wish Matt and Allen the best in the future. In their stead, we have found two musicians who can approach our music with passion and vitality and help get us back out on tour to finish what was seemingly cut short last August." 4

RHAPSODY OF FIRE's latest album, "From Chaos To Eternity", was released in North America on July 12, 2011 via Nuclear Blast Records. Described by the band as "the natural evolution" from 2010's "The Frozen Tears Of Angels", the CD marks RHAPSODY OF FIRE's final release based on the fantasy saga started in 1997 with the group's debut album, "Legendary Tales". 4

EVILE: New Album Title, Cover Artwork UnveiledBritish thrashers EVILE have set "Skull" as the title of their fourth album, due on May 27 in Europe on Earache Records and in North America via Century Media/Earache Records. The follow-up to 2011's "Five Serpent's Teeth" was once again recorded with producer Russ Russell (NAPALM DEATH, DIMMU BORGIR) at Parlour Studios in Kettering, England. The artwork for the album was painted by artist Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, SODOM, HATEBREED).
Commented EVILE drummer Ben Carter: "We'd like to extend our thanks to Eliran Kantor for his amazing artistic representation of our original concept, which we'll reveal further details of in the coming weeks.
"Our fans can expect this album to be a return to our thrashier roots, as well as exploring new ground in typical EVILE form.
"We've always said we want to progress and move forward in everything we do, and this album is no exception.
"We're so amazed with everything Russ Russell and ourselves have produced, and can't wait for it to be released upon the masses!"
Added EVILE lead guitarist Ol Drake: "'Skull' is not what you think. 'Skull' is not where you think. 'Skull' is a mythical void in the deep fathoms of space."
As previously reported, EVILE will celebrate this year's Record Store Day by releasing a split seven-inch picture disc vinyl with Swedish death metal legends ENTOMBED.
The limited-edition release will feature ENTOMBED's classic 1990 track, "Drowned", along with EVILE's 2012 cover version, available on vinyl for the first time. The seven-inch will be available in independent record stores on Saturday, April 20 in strictly limited quantities.
EVILE will perform a special show for fans at Crash Records in Leeds, U.K. on April 20 at 4 p.m. Space is limited, but fans who buy the seven-inch vinyl from Crash Records on the day will get free entry to the show (space permitting). 4

BORN OF OSIRIS To Enter Studio Next MonthBORN OF OSIRIS will enter the studio on April 1 with producer Nick Sampson (I AM ABOMINATION, IN FEAR AND FAITH, ADESTRIA) to begin recording its new album for a summer 2013 via Sumerian Records. Mixing the CD will be Joey Sturgis, who has previously worked with ASKING ALEXANDRIA and EMMURE, among others. Guitarist Lee McKinney states: "We are very excited to be working with these guys."
He continues: "As for the album's content, we're gonna be doing six-string and seven-string songs on the same recording for the first time ever. Aside from that, we've been more focused for this record than any of the previous. We've had two-plus years to write, critique, adjust and learn these songs, which is just something we haven't had in the past with our intense touring schedule. Like the last album ('The Discovery'), we've been living and writing this album together and it's made for the best, most focused BORN OF OSIRIS album to date.
"What makes this release even more special to us is the fact that we'll be releasing it on the one and only Rockstar Energy [Drink] Mayhem [Festival] this summer. We get to share the stage with some of the biggest and most talented names in metal. There's no other better way to possibly start this record cycle."
"The Discovery" sold around 6,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 87 on The Billboard 200 chart. The group's previous CD, 2009's "A Higher Place", entered the charts at No. 73 with first-week sales of over 6,000 copies.
"The Discovery" was released on March 22, 2011 via Sumerian Records. The CD was recorded at BOTA Studio in Lake In The Hills, Illinois and was mixed by Jason Suecof (ALL THAT REMAINS, TRIVIUM, DEVILDRIVER). 2

AIRBOURNE: New Song 'Live It Up' Available For Streaming"Live It Up", a brand new song from Australian hard rockers AIRBOURNE, can be streamed below. The track comes off the band's third album, "Black Dog Barking", which will be released on May 21 via Roadrunner Records. The follow-up to 2010's "No Guts. No Glory." was produced by Brian Howes, who has previously worked with HINDER, DAUGHTRY and PUDDLE OF MUDD.
Said the band: "A lot of thought and effort has gone into this record not only by the band, but by the production crew who worked countless hours, seven days a week, even through Christmas and New Year's Eve to achieve the best possible performances, backed by real undying tones. Now we're handing it over to you... so crank it up, crack a beer and stick some rock 'n' roll in your ear!"
The Full Throttle edition of a new AIRBOURNE song, "Live It Up", will be made available for the opening of Full Throttle at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California, the tallest, fastest looping roller coaster in the world. The track will be released to rock radio in late spring, followed by its in-park debut at Six Flags Magic Mountain with the ride opening. The Full Throttle edition of "Live It Up" will be featured throughout the newly themed five-acre section of the park where guests will experience high-energy action through fast-paced imagery, sound and lights, with additional music featuring various Roadrunner artists. The launch will be further supported nationally in all theme parks, Roadrunner and Six Flags online and social media channels, live events and press outreach.
"Theme music is synonymous with television, movies and even sports. It's a natural extension to bring original music to a world-class roller coaster, like Full Throttle," said David McKillips, Senior Vice President of Corporate Alliances, Six Flags Entertainment. "Roadrunner Records had the creative vision and talent to match the heart-pounding speed and adrenaline the ride experience delivers, backed with a content partnership that provides best-in-class entertainment to our guests."
In addition to the song's release, Six Flags and Roadrunner will be working together on programming to be featured on Six Flags digital networks, which includes the Nielsen-measured Six Flags Television Network. The content partnership will air Roadrunner videos in ride-line televisions and help drive awareness, music downloads, and sales for Roadrunner's breadth of rock artists.
"This is an innovative partnership that brings together two great brands and allows Roadrunner to bring music to millions of entertainment-seeking consumers in a new way," said Michael Easterlin, General Manager of Roadrunner Records. "Six Flags' ability to generate awareness through the Full Throttle attraction and its national media network provides a unique outlet for fans to instantly access our music."
AIRBOURNE's infectious music has been used in more than 20 video games, countless films, trailers and more.
AIRBOURNE is Joel O'Keeffe (vocals/lead guitar), Ryan O'Keeffe (drums), David Roads (guitar) and Justin Street (bass).

PENTAGRAM CHILE: 'The Malefice' Cover Artwork, Track Listing RevealedPENTAGRAM CHILE recently completed work on its first-ever studio album, entitled "The Malefice", for a June/July release via Germany's Cyclone Empire Records. Drums for the CD were tracked at Sade Studios in Santiago, Chile, while all guitars and vocals were recorded at HVR Studios in Suffolk, U.K., where the album was mixed by vocalist/guitarist Anton Reisenegger with longtime friend, collaborator, co-producer and studio owner Daniel Biggin. The first edition will also include re-recordings of classic '80s demo songs.
"The Malefice" track listing:
01. The Death Of Satan
02. La Fiura
03. The Apparition
04. Horror Vacui
05. Spontaneous Combustion
06. Grand Design
07. Sacrophobia
08. Arachnoids
09. Prophetic Tremors
The band faced a dilemma when deciding whether to re-record their legendary '80s material. Reisenegger commented: "We weren't sure if we should re-record the old demo songs; some people encouraged us to do so, others said we would ruin our own legacy. At first, we decided to re-record just a couple, but while we were at it, we were so pleased with the results we decided to do them all."
"We obviously didn't want to base our first studio album on 25-year old songs," he continued, "as people have been — rightfully — accusing us of flogging that material to death already, so I think we found an elegant solution: The album's first edition will consist of two records, one of all-new material written during the last two years, and a second one of re-recorded songs from the '80s demos. The few friends who've been able to listen to the re-recorded material have been amazed at how we've been able to capture the vibe of the old material despite using modern recording technology. Hell, even the new stuff sounds like it came from that era!"
While the PENTAGRAM drum throne was taken over by veteran Chilean drummer Juan Pablo Donoso (SADISM, EXECRATOR, THRONAFIRE) after original member Eduardo Topelberg left the band (he is now a local politician for the Ñuñoa district of Santiago), bass duties on the album were split between various musicians. Besides the band's touring bassists Juan Francisco Cueto and Daniel Biggin, the band also invited longtime friend Rodrigo "Pera" Cuadra of DORSO to record the bass on one song, as well as to re-do the evil laughter he originally contributed to the demo version of the track "The Malefice".
Another bassist to guest on the album is Mauricio Peña, brother of original PENTAGRAM bassist Alfredo "Bey" Peña, who committed suicide in 1990. "It was really emotive to have Mauricio perform on the album. He looks a lot like his brother and is just as talented. In a way, it's like Alfredo is still with us in spirit."
In addition, the track "La Fiura" will feature a scream provided by MORGOTH singer Marc Grewe. "The song is about this mythological creature from the South of Chile," Reisenegger explained, "which emits this really piercing, high-pitched scream that literally melts people's faces. When we were playing the Maryland Deathfest last year, MORGOTH were on while we were getting ready, and all of a sudden we heard this insane scream. We all looked at each other and said: 'That's it, that's La Fiura!!!' So we approached Marc and he immediately agreed."

ALICE IN CHAINS: New Single 'Stone' Goes To RadioA 90-second sample of ALICE IN CHAINS' new single, entitled "Stone", can be streamed below. The track, which was released to radio earlier today, come off the band's new album, "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here", which is due out on May 28 via Virgin/EMI.
ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell recently told Rolling Stone that "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" is "a unique record that's completely different from anything we ever did," adding, "The band is moving ahead in new territory that we haven't been to before, but we haven't lost our identity." The Pulse Of Radio asked Cantrell to talk more about the band's evolution on its fifth studio effort. "The cool thing about record is it's a snapshot of time, of that group of individuals," he said. "And when you line up all of those records back to back, you can see where the band changes, evolves, you can maybe feel what they're going through, you know, and I think you could probably say that with all of our records. You can get a pretty good snapshot of what's going on there and, you know, we're in a different place now."
Cantrell told Revolver magazine that the title track's lyrics take on the beliefs of certain organized religions, saying, "What I've seen is the most basic message to most faith systems is in contradiction with how it gets applied . . . It always amazes me that some of the most hateful and hurtful things are done in the name of some sort of belief system."
"The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" is ALICE IN CHAINS' second with William DuVall on vocals. It follows up 2009's "Black Gives Way To Blue", the group's first all-new collection of material in 14 years and first since the 2002 death of original singer Layne Staley.
ALICE IN CHAINS will hit the road on a spring trek that starts on April 25 in Miami Beach and includes headlining slots at the Rocklahoma, Carolina Rebellion, Welcome To Rockville and Rock On The Range festivals.
A person going by the online handle "TheSorceressKnight" at BLABBERMOUTH.NET has unveiled two additional images hidden in the cover artwork for the album.
When loaded into Photoshop, the main picture of a dinosaur skull reveals first a mirror image of that photo, and then underneath both what looks like a skull belonging to a demon or devil. 3

IRON MAIDEN - Maiden England ‘88 Album Sampler StreamingIRON MAIDEN's Maiden England ‘88 is out this week as a CD, DVD and Double Picture LP. Check out a 12-minute album sampler below:
Now available for the very first time on DVD, this live show was filmed across two sold-out nights at Birmingham N.E.C Arena, UK in November 1988 during the band’s Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son World Tour. Disc one contains the concert which has been specially upgraded and extended from the existing 1989 longform VHS release and now includes three previously unreleased encores: 'Running Free', 'Run To The Hills' and 'Sanctuary' thereby completing the full concert with a total running time of 110 minutes.
Maiden’s own Film Producer and Director Andy Matthews went back to the 1988 edit and painstakingly remastered each shot digitally; colour correcting and grading to give the image the best possible look from that time. As well as the VHS stereo sound track by Martin Birch, the band’s producer between 1981 and 1993, the DVD also includes a brand new 5.1 audio surround mix by Maiden’s current producer Kevin Shirley. The concert was meticulously directed and edited by bass player and founder member Steve Harris, so as to capture the performance from a fans-eye view of the stage, focusing fully on the music, the elaborate stage production and the lighting. Add into the mix an electrifying set list and of course Eddie, and Maiden England now offers a snapshot of a bygone era in which the band, as they continue to do today, devote their all in delivering the ultimate live experience for their fans.
Disc two is an extensive bonus disc featuring an exclusive documentary charting Part 3 in the History of Iron Maiden. This 40-minute film comprises recent interviews with the five band members and manager, Rod Smallwood. Picking up the story in the aftermath of the ‘84/85 World Slavery tour, this interesting and insightful documentary sees the band speak candidly about their memories of an exciting and occasionally turbulent period from which would emerge the albums Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son. As the eighties began to draw to a close, so did another chapter in Maiden’s compelling history.
Other special extras on the bonus disc include Twelve Wasted Years. First released as a longform VHS in 1987 and available for the first time on DVD, this documentary runs for 90 minutes and includes archive interviews and dynamic live footage from the band’s beginnings in the now legendary Ruskin Arms pub, via London’s Marquee club and three World Tours. Five promo videos for the singles from the aforementioned albums are also featured and have been carefully restored and improved upon from the original films using the very latest software with the audio remastered in digital stereo.
Manager Rod Smallwood comments “We've been busy upgrading this concert footage for a long time, with our in-house Film Producer and Director Andy Matthews working tirelessly to weave his magic yet again!. The 1989 VHS video has been largely unavailable for many years and we know how eagerly our fans have been awaiting the new version so we wanted to give it the best possible treatment. The current Maiden England World Tour which continues later this year revisits much of the set list and production from the initial 1989 VHS release so it will be interesting to compare just how much has changed in terms of our 2013 live show production, especially with all the advances in modern technology and the improvements we've been able to make to the set.”
The Maiden England ‘88 concert soundtrack is also available on 2CD album, Limited Edition double vinyl picture disc and Digital Download formats. The audio had previously only ever been available before on CD as part of EMI’s 1994 Sound And Vision Series packaged alongside the VHS, but with two tracks fewer than the video contained. 'Can I Play With Madness' and 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' were not featured as there was no space on the 1CD disc. Now with the three encores also included the double disc offers a total of five tracks previously unavailable on CD making this the first full and complete audio recording release of this historic tour.

DISTURBED Frontman's DEVICE: New Song 'You Think You Know' Available For Streaming"You Think You Know", a brand new song from DEVICE, the industrial-style project featuring DISTURBED frontman David Draiman and former FILTER guitarist Geno Lenardo, can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below.
DEVICE's self-titled debut album is due out April 9 and features guest appearances from AVENGED SEVENFOLD singer M. Shadows, SYSTEM OF A DOWN vocalist Serj Tankian, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello, HALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale, BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler and ex-DEEP PURPLE bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes.
The "Vilify" single and video were officially released on February 19. Draiman told The Pulse Of Radio where the track is coming from musically and lyrically: "It is a very fierce introductory track for this record. It has a very strong fusion of that electronic element in there. Still very heavy, still very rhythmic. Very anthemic, very intensely melodic. It's a song that lyrically is talking about everyone out there who likes to make me out to be such a bad guy, this monster of epic proportions, which I'm really not."
The "Vilify" clip was directed by P.R. Brown, who has previously collaborated with such artists as MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, John Mayer, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, Prince, AUDIOSLAVE, MÖTLEY CRÜE and SIXX: A.M.
Draiman launched DEVICE last year after DISTURBED announced in the fall of 2011 that it was going on an extended hiatus.
Lenardo will not be part of the DEVICE live band due to previous commitments, but the touring lineup includes EVANESCENCE drummer Will Hunt and DOPE guitarist Virus.
The group will make its debut at several big U.S. rock festivals this April and May, including Welcome To Rockville, Carolina Rebellion and Rock On The Range.

KYLESA: 'Ultraviolet' Cover Artwork, Track Listing RevealedSavannah-based quintet KYLESA will release its new album, "Ultraviolet", on May 24 in Europe and May 28 in North America via Season Of Mist. The follow-up to "Spiral Shadow" was recorded at The Jam Room in Columbia, South Carolina, with the band's guitar player/songwriter and sought-after producer, Phillip Cope (BARONESS, BLACK TUSK), once again overseeing production.
"Quicksand", a new song from the eleven-track album, is available now for streaming at SPIN.com.
"'Quicksand' is a quick 2:35 of ghostly dreamdoom that joins the melodies of '90s shoegaze with the churn of modern sludge and a riff straight from the Billy Corgan playbook," says SPIN.com in a brief write-up accompanying the song stream, adding that the song is "a muscular swirl that should please anyone who thought m b v didn't have enough shouting."
The cover artwork for "Ultraviolet" was created by Sean Beaudry and can be seen below. Beaudry, a fellow Savannah resident, did the artwork for the band's "Time Will Fuse Its Worth" reissue.
"Ultraviolet" track listing:
01. Exhale
02. Unspoken
03. Grounded
04. We're Taking This
05. Long Gone
06. What Does It Take
07. Steady Breakdown
08. Low Tide
09. Vulture's Landing
10. Quicksand
11. Drifting
KYLESA will play a free, all-ages show in its hometown of Savannah at The Dollhouse on April 19 as a way to thank fans for their ongoing support.
"Whereas 'Spiral Shadow' was a warm album suggesting concepts of hope, 'Ultraviolet' is a bit colder and darker," explains KYLESA songwriter/guitar player Laura Pleasants. "All of our studio albums have their own unique identity and we've always been a band who strives for something different than what current fads suggest. With 'Ultraviolet', we took a step inward and wrote music that we felt we had to write; this album centers around the multiple themes of loss and you can feel it in the music. Everyone goes through it during their lifetime and this record reflects that experience."
KYLESA issued a rarities collection in November titled "From The Vaults, Vol. 1", which featured previously unreleased, new and alternate versions of songs spanning the band's catalog as well as one new song titled "End Truth". Cope and Pleasants spent over a year going through their archives preparing the release. 1

MACHINE HEAD last month parted ways with bassist Adam Duce. The split is said to be "amicable," and MACHINE HEAD would like to wish Adam the best with his current and future endeavors. The band will continue on for the time being as a three-piece and has begun the writing process for the follow-up to 2011's "Unto The Locust". A late 2013 release is projected.
"Machine Fucking Head Live", the new live album from MACHINE HEAD, sold 3,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. It's the band's second live effort; "Hellalive" came out in 2003.
MACHINE HEAD's most recent studio album, "Unto The Locust", sold more than 17,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 22 on The Billboard 200 chart — putting MACHINE HEAD in the Top 25 for the first time in the band's 17-year history.
"Machine Fucking Head Live" was recorded at various tour stops across the globe last year. It features songs from throughout the band's expansive catalog, including crowd favorites like "Imperium", "Aesthetics of Hate", "Locust", "Ten Ton Hammer", "This is the End" and "Halo".
"Machine Fucking Head Live" was mixed and mastered at Trident Studios in Pacheco, California by Juan Urteaga and Robb Flynn.
MACHINE HEAD is currently seeking a new label home following the expiration of the band's contract with longtime record company Roadrunner Records. 1

SEVENDUST: New Song ''Till Death' Available For Streaming"'Till Death", a brand new song from SEVENDUST, is available for streaming at Grammy.com. The track comes off the band's ninth studio album, "Black Out The Sun", which will be released on March 26 via SEVENDUST's 7Bros. Records label (through Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group). The CD was recorded at Architekt Music studios in Butler, New Jersey with engineer Mike Ferretti.
"Black Out The Sun" track listing:
01. Memory
02. Faithless
03. 'Till Death
04. Mountain
05. Cold As War
06. Black Out The Sun
07. Nobody Wants It
08. Dead Roses
09. Decay
10. Dark AM
11. Picture Perfect
12. Got A Feeling
13. Murder Bar
SEVENDUST filmed a video for the CD's first single, "Decay", just before its recent tour with LACUNA COIL kicked off on February 2 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
SEVENDUST drummer Morgan Rose told Billboard.com that the song actually came from a riff left over from the "Cold Ray Memory" sessions.

LIMP BIZKIT's Collaboration With LIL WAYNE Available For StreamingLIMP BIZKIT fan site TheArmpit has is streaming LIMP BIZKIT and Lil Wayne's new collaborative single, "Ready To Go". The track is being released via LIMP BIZKIT's new label home, Cash Money, Lil Wayne's longtime record company. "It'll be a great way to let the world know that [the band] is a part of us," Cash Money Records co-CEO and founder Bryan "Birdman" Williams told Billboard.com a year ago. "It's rock, but it's hip-hop-rock. I think we got that hip-hop-rock swagger."
When LIMP BIZKIT's deal with Cash Money was announced last March, many wondered why the popular rap label would work with a band whose latest album, "Gold Cobra", has sold less than 100,000 copies in the United States since its June 2011 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. "LIMP BIZKIT, to me, is just a perfect match for us," said Birdman. "It was something that [Durst] was interested in doing, and I was already a fan, and I was like, 'Let's do it.' It's good for the brand, it will bring a different look for us, and we're definitely trying to expand on that side of music."
LIMP BIZKIT in 2011 parted ways with Interscope, the label that released all of the band's records thus far through its subsidiaries Flip, Geffen and Suretone Records.
"As both an artist and someone who has signed artists, I can say without a doubt that Cash Money is at the top of their game," Durst said in a statement. "What attracted me to the label is not only their great taste and hustle, but their belief in their artists and the family atmosphere. Slim and Birdman allow their artists to be themselves and encourage creative output and continued development. I look forward to bringing my vision as a director as well as my voice to the label and to LIMP BIZKIT putting out some of our best music to date. . . This is the most at home, comfortable, and confident I have felt in the business."
"Gold Cobra" was LIMP BIZKIT's first CD to feature the original lineup of Fred Durst (vocals), Wes Borland (guitar), Sam Rivers (bass), John Otto (drums), and DJ Lethal since 2000's "Chocolate Starfish And Hot Dog Flavored Water". 8

SUIDAKRA: 'Eternal Defiance' Cover Artwork Unveiled"Eternal Defiance", the new albnum from German melodic folk/death metallers SUIDAKRA, will be released on May 24 via AFM Records. The cover artwork was created by Kris Verwimp and can be seen below.
"Eternal Defiance" track listing:
01. Storming The Walls
02. Inner Sanctum
03. Beneath The Red Eagle
04. March Of Conquest
05. Pair Dadeni
06. The Mindsong
07. Rage For Revenge
08. Dragon’s Head
09. Defiant Dreams
10. Damnatio Memoriae
11. Mrs Mcgrath (bonus track)
Commented SUIDAKRA singer Arkadius Antonik: "As on the previous two releases, it will be a concept album again, created by [famous Belgian graphic artist] Kris Verwimp in cooperation with us. Our new concept includes a lot of new elements and suprises which will be reflected in the music as well."
In a 2012 interview with Metal Kaoz, Antonik stated about SUIDAKRA's new material: "The songs … are bombastic and we also finished the first song with Tina's [Stabel] female vocals. This time, it's gonna be a faster song with a real epic and catchy chorus."
Bassist Marcus Riewaldt last year announced his departure from SUIDAKRA. He said in a statement, "After more than 250 shows and 10 years being in the band, I feel that now time has come to change my priorities a bit and see what else life has to offer for me. No hard feelings involved; it's just that I cannot motivate myself for another writing-rehearsing-recording-promoting-touring cycle and that I'm really annoyed by some of the music business mechanisms that one has to deal with in order to continue this beautiful and exciting, but at the same time very time- and energy-consuming hobby. I wish SUIDAKRA much luck and success for the future — it would all be well deserved!"
SUIDAKRA has already secured a replacement bassist in Tim Siebrecht, who was a stand-in guitar player for SUIDAKRA on several occasions in recent years.
SUIDAKRA's tenth album, "Book Of Dowth", was released on March 25, 2011 via AFM Records. 1

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH: New Album Artwork UnveiledA PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH, the band featuring Brooklyn, New York native Sal Abruscato — who played drums on three TYPE O NEGATIVE albums ("Slow, Deep & Hard", "Origin Of The Feces", "Bloody Kisses"), as well as four LIFE OF AGONY releases ("River Runs Red", "Ugly", "River Runs Again", "Broken Valley") — on guitar and vocals, will release its sophomore album, "Lay My Soul To Waste", on May 21 in North America, May 24 in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and May 27 in the rest of Europe via Steamhammer/SPV. The group has once again commissioned famed artist Sam Shearon (a.k.a. Mister-Sam; ROB ZOMBIE, FEAR FACTORY, RAMMSTEIN) to create the artwork for the CD, which was mastered on January 17 by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in New York City.
According to a press release, "Lay My Soul To Waste" "keeps A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH's patented signature formula of slow, deliberate sludge and head-down doom intact and as flawlessly executed as ever. Think ALICE IN CHAINS, only harder, angrier and with a more perverse view of the world, as if they were reared in a row house in Bensonhurst, as opposed to the rainy landscape of Seattle, all the while feasting on a steady diet of BLACK SABBATH records."
Abruscato is open about the fantasy that dominates his lyrical point of view. He admits that all songs "have a line to reality…things that could and do happen every day." But like any skilled storyteller, Abruscato likes pushing buttons. His lyrics are no different than the narratives of the horror movie playing at your local multiplex. It's largely fiction, with some nuggets or kernels of truth embedded within.
Musically, the record matches that pallor and "will hit you in the gut." There are more harmonies this time out, and the piano is a bit more front and center, while guitarist Eddie Heedles contributed some leads. But for the most part, the formula remained largely untouched. "If it's not broken, don't fix it,'" Abruscato said, matter-of-factly. "We wanted to display the advancements, musically and artistically, and retain the core element."
"Lay My Soul To Waste" track listing:
01. Lay My Soul To Waste
02. Shallow Grave
03. The Needle In You
04. In The Sleeping Death
05. Killer By Night
06. Growing Old
07. Dead Of Winter
08. Devil Came With A Smile
09. Day Of The Storm
10. DMSLT
11. Cold Dark Mourning
A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH's debut album, "And Hell Will Follow Me", came out in 2011.
The band made its live debut on February 20, 2011 at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey as the support act for MONSTER MAGNET and SEVENTH VOID.
A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH is:
Sal Abruscato - Lead Vocals, Guitar
Matt Brown – Guitar, Backing Vocals
Johnny Kelly - Drums
Eric Morgan - Bass
Eddie Heedles - Guitar 1

FIREWIND's BOB KATSIONIS Featured On MONUMENT's Cover Of DEEP PURPLE's 'Black Night'The legendary DEEP PURPLE anthem "Black Night" is being released by London, England's very own rising stars MONUMENT as a special charity single on April 8 to raise funds for The Sunflower Jam charity.
Peter Ellis, vocalist of MONUMENT, said "We are very excited about releasing this cover of DEEP PURPLE classic 'Black Night' as a tribute to the late, great Jon Lord, whose work has heavily influenced all members of MONUMENT. It is fitting that Jon's parts in the track are performed by one of our generation's most acomplished and critically acclaimed keyboard players, our good friend Bob Katsionis (FIREWIND). It is also important to us to know that all profit from sales will be going to The Sunflower Jam charity, which Jon Lord himself was such a big part of, and that we can, in our own little way, help the charity's noble cause.
"I hope you enjoy this cover and that you will never forget Jon and all the amazing things he did in his time."
The Sunflower Jam is a high-profile rock music event which donates funds and supports charities which provide complementary care to cancer patients. The last two years have seen the event take place at the Royal Albert Hall with artists such as Alice Cooper, Brian May, DEEP PURPLE, Jon Lord, Bruce Dickinson, Paul Weller and a host of other rock legends pledging their support. The charity has been able to build a complimentary treatment room at Great Ormond Street hospital, and this year is working with the College Of Medicine to support research into alternative treatments for pancreatic cancer.

He previously stated about the forthcoming set: "I am so excited for all of you to witness and experience 'ABachalypse Now'. We have included three recent concerts and the footage is totally kickass! Bach in July 2012 posted a letter on his Facebook page in which he said he was willing to reunite with SKID ROW. "For the fans, I would be willing to put my ego aside and do something that would be special for the people who put us where we are today," he wrote. "I do not personally want it myself. But it's not always about 'what I want.' If the fans really want to see us together, I would do it for the fans. Sometimes you can do things for people other than yourself."
Bach said he wanted to write the letter in response to current SKID ROW singer Johnny Solinger's interview in which Johnny said a recent tweet by Bach about a possible SKID ROW reunion was an attempt to "get attention."
Bach's most recent solo album, "Kicking & Screaming", sold 6,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 73 on The Billboard 200 chart. The singer's previous CD, "Angel Down", opened with 6,400 units back in November 2007 to debut at No. 190.

Reunited SAIGON KICK Performs Acoustic Set For Tampa Bay's 98 ROCK; Video Footage, PhotosThe first public performance of the reunited acclaimed 1990s rock band SAIGON KICK was a special acoustic set this past Friday (March 22) for Tampa Bay, Florida radio station 98 Rock at the RP Funding Performance Theater. The four-song set was "the [original band's] first performance in 20 years," according to singer Matt Kramer, and was streamed live at 98rock.com.
Check out video footage of the performance below. Photos can be found at 98rock.com.
As previously reported, SAIGON KICK has parted ways with bassist Tom DeFile. According to Tom, the split happened because of "personalities and other reasons." The remaining members of the band said in a statement: "Tom and SAIGON KICK amicably decided this is best for both parties and we wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors."
Chris McLernon, who was not a part of the original SAIGON KICK lineup, but came aboard as the band's bassist for the "Water" album in 1993 and remained with the group until they unofficially called it quits in 1999, is playing bass on SAIGON KICK's current reunion tour.
Guitarist Jason Bieler, who last year launched a new project called OWL STRETCHING, stated in a 2012 interview about the prospect of a SAIGON KICK reunion, "My only thing about SAIGON KICK is that I wouldn't want it to be a 'will-work-for-food' tour. I hate that, and I expressed to the guys that whatever and if ever we do something, I want to do it at a level that's higher and better than it was. You tend to remember the best things about a band when they're younger, and when you see them when you're older you think 'Oh, man, they suck! Maybe they're still the same band and just never got any better.' I'd want to go out there and capture something, do something great. If we're going to do some shows, I don't want to show up with one flashlight and rip off the fans to make an extra $200. That's not what I'm interested in."
SAIGON KICK is perhaps best remembered for its second album, 1992's "The Lizard", which spawned the band's biggest hit single, "Love Is On The Way". The track reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and its accompanying video was in the top 10 MTV countdown for many weeks. Just before touring for the LP commenced, DeFile was fired and was replaced by ex-COLD SWEAT bassist Chris McLernon. They toured from summer 1992 to spring 1993 and "The Lizard" was eventually certified gold by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association Of America) for sales in excess of 500,000 copies.
