VOLBEAT: Fan-Filmed Video Footage Of Entire San Antonio ConcertFan-filmed video footage of VOLBEAT's entire March 9 in San Antonio, Texas can be seen at this location. A couple of the clips are available below.
VOLBEAT has released the video for "Cape Of Our Hero", the first single from the Danish band's upcoming album, "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies". The song has just hit rock radio, while the clip tells the story of a young man who looks back at his youth and remembers his father as the most heroic figure in his life. Frontman Michael Poulsen told The Pulse Of Radio that the song was very personal to him. "I lost my father four, five years ago and I believe that every man in this universe, you know, they have their heroes and most of us are looking at our dad as a big hero," he said. "And so, of course, I'm singing about a little boy who lost his father, and then at the same time he loses his belief in his superheroes."
"Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies" will be released on April 9.
Former ANTHRAX member Rob Caggiano, who was a producer on the new disc, recently joined the band as its new guitarist. He replaces guitarist Thomas Bredahl, who was given his walking papers in November 2011.
The new disc follows up 2010's "Beyond Hell/Above Heaven", which featured three No. 1 rock radio hits, "A Warrior's Call", "Still Counting" and "Heaven Nor Hell".
VOLBEAT is currently on a spring tour of North America that next stops in Las Vegas on Thursday (March 14).

CRADLE OF FILTH Frontman Joins DEVILMENTVocalist Dani "Filth" Davey of British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH has joined the Ipswich, Suffolk, U.K.-based band DEVILMENT.
Originally formed by Daniel J Finch back in late 2011 amidst a bout of religious delirium, DEVILMENT consisted of Simon Dawson (STEVE HARRIS, ex-DEARLY BEHEADED) on drums, Justin Walker (13 CANDLES) on bass and Kieron De-Courci (ex-THE VOICE) on keyboards, with the band experiencing a myriad of problems holding down a stable vocalist.
Enter Daniel's friend Dani Filth, who, "although not entirely stable mentally," agreed to help out on a couple of tracks, which then turned swiftly into a studio demo, completed after Dani finished work on CRADLE's "The Manticore And Other Horrors" album last summer. The demo, known as "Grotescapology", featured eight tracks, which, although psychotically competent, were used solely as a backbone for a new line-up when Simon Dawson suddenly departed to record and tour the Steve Harris BRITISH LION album, and the remaining two members agreed that work and distance were conspiring to keep them from dedicating enough time to the band. Fortunately, at this point, destiny sat on a posturing horse, was proud to usher Nick Johnson (bass), Dan Jackson (guitar) and Aaron Boast (percussion) into the fray, three extremely competent musicians who suddenly grew out of the local music scene, and soon the band was at full steam once more and starting to write as a combined unit.
Thus October 2012 to the present day has proved to be a very productive time for the band, with a further five songs written towards a debut album, as well as the refinement of older material that a new, gelatinous lineup has dictated (plus a fistful of cool covers to boot…). So, with 2013 well underway, the band are looking mightily forward to the warmer months, a near-future that promises to be rife with the onset of a new plague of bewitchment and DEVILMENT!
Audio samples of four songs from DEVILMENT — "Psycho Babble", "Staring At The Werewolf Corps", "Bloodlust, Rust, & Empire" and "Even Your Blood Group Rejects Me" — can be streamed below. 2

GHOST: New Song Available For Streaming"Year Zero", a brand new song from the mysterious Swedish buzz band GHOST, can be "unlocked" in exchange for a vote to make the group's frontman, Papa Emeritus II, the new "supreme pontiff." Check it out at PapaEmeritus.com. The track can also be streamed below.
"Infestissumam", the sophomore album GHOST, will be released on April 9 via Loma Vista Recordings.
"Infestissumam" track listing:
01. Infestissumam
02. Per Aspera Ad Inferi
03. Secular Haze
04. Jigolo Har Megiddo
05. Ghuleh / Zombie Queen
06. Year Zero
07. Idolatrine
08. Body And Blood
09. Depth Of Satans Eyes
10. Monstrance Clock
The "Secular Haze" video was filmed by Amir Chamdin in the band's hometown of Linköping.
GHOST was forced to modify its name in the U.S. to GHOST B.C. for "legal reasons."
Papa Emeritus II recently emerged on the 100th issue of Decibel magazine for an extensive feature detailing the making of the forthcoming "Infestissumam" in which a nameless ghoul declared, "Regardless of your religious beliefs, we like to trigger the imagination of the listener so they can become a devout burner in Hell or a keen participant of devil worship for at least an hour or two. That's the GHOST experience." Decibel editor-in-chief Albert Mudrian said, "For the cover of our 100th issue, we wanted to spotlight a band that embodies the ideals of the magazine: theatricality, black humor, love for both the past and present of extreme music. GHOST meets and exceeds all of those criteria, and we couldn't be more excited to reveal the exclusive story of the making of their sophomore album."
The band's debut album, "Opus Eponymous", was released in late 2010 in Europe and in early 2011 in North America via Rise Above Records. 13

CLUTCH: 'Crucial Velocity' Lyric Video ReleasedThe official lyric video for the song "Crucial Velocity" from Maryland rockers CLUTCH can be seen below. The track comes off the band's new album, "Earth Rocker", which will be released on March 19 via CLUTCH's own Weathermaker Music label. Produced by Machine (LAMB OF GOD, FOUR YEAR STRONG, FALL OUT BOY) at the Machine Shop studio in Belleville, New Jersey, the CD was described by CLUTCH vocalist Neil Fallon in a recent interview with DCHeavyMetal.com as "probably faster than most of our recent albums. Maybe compared to some other bands, it's not the fastest thing on planet Earth. For us it was definitely a step up in the tempo. And I think the other thing that kind of stands out about this one is the blues influences that we've been flirting with over the past couple records is more or less absent in this record, which didn't really happen intentionally until we looked back at it. As a whole, it's just much more of a straight-up rock and roll record."
The artwork for "Earth Rocker" was created by Nick Lakiotes, longtime CLUTCH art director, who has worked on previous efforts, including "Robot Hive/Exodus" and "Strange Cousins From The West".
CLUTCH is featured on the cover of this month's Decibel magazine. The issue features an in-depth interview with the entire band, as well as a special column on craft beer from the band's drummer and resident beer expert Jean-Paul Gaster.
CLUTCH kicked off the first leg of the "Earth Rocker" North American tour on March 8 in Cincinnati, Ohio and it runs through April 20 in Baltimore. Support on the first leg is coming from ORANGE GOBLIN, LIONIZE and SCORPION CHILD. CLUTCH will also make two South By Southwest Music Festival appearances in Austin, Texas this year.
The second leg of the "Earth Rocker" North American tour was recently announced and will kick off May 1 in Richmond, Virginia and run through May 26 in San Antonio, Texas. Support on this run will come from THE SWORD and LIONIZE. 1

KROKUS Vocalist Calls DEE SNIDER Feud 'Childish' And 'Ridiculous'In his autobiography, "Shut Up And Give Me The Mic", Dee Snider of TWISTED SISTER had nothing nice to say about KROKUS, the veteran hard rockers from Switzerland. For an entire chapter, he raged about the band, calling them "Crapus" and stating, "You have no idea how close you came landing on the bottom of a lake."
The reason for his outburst: KROKUS commissioned Snider's wife Suzette in 1982 to sew stage outfits for the band's U.S. tour, but the former KROKUS tour manager refused to pay her for her services.
"These guys ripped off my wife and threatened her," said Snider, who pointed out that his wife's mother emigrated from Switzerland.
"I was proud of this rock band from the home country of my mother," said Suzette. But the pride has turned into rage.
In a recent interview with "The Metal Voice" (see video below), KROKUS vocalist Marc Storace responded to Snider's comments, saying: "This is so childish. We gave her a chance. I mean, how do you do?! Before you buy a truckload of wine, you wanna taste a bottle. SO we just wanted to have samples… to see some clothes. And our tour manager, L.D., he sent off the sizes and… I can't even remember the details; it's ridiculous. In the end, she came with the stuff, we tried it on, and it looked horrible. I'm sorry. I mean, I'm sorry. And they got so offended, and it was such a great insult to them. And they wanted their money. And L.D. said, 'Hey, we're not buying. Keep the clothes. Sorry. No deal.'"
KROKUS bassist/producer Chris Von Rohr recently recalled: "The clothes did not match at all our expectations. Too much harlequin style. So we made a bonfire of it."
Many years have passed and KROKUS are older and wiser. "If we have not treated his wife with due respect, we are sorry," Von Rohr said.
Von Rohr proposed to Dee and his wife to bury the hatchet and drink a beer or two together at a festival this year where both bands will perform in reconciliation of an event that happened over 30 years ago.
Swiss newspaper Blick reached Snider by phone and submitted KROKUS' peace offer. "If they are serious, I think it's a nice gesture," said Snider. "But I have to ask my wife first if she is ready to forgive KROKUS." 1

WHITESNAKE: 'Made In Japan' EPK AvailableFrontiers Records will release WHITESNAKE's live concert, "Made In Japan", on deluxe 2CD/DVD edition, Blu-ray and DVD in North America on Tuesday, April 23.
An EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for the set is available below.
Multi-platinum rock band WHITESNAKE co-headlined the Loud Park festival on October 15, 2011 at Saitama Super Arena in Japan during their "Forevermore World Tour". The performance was initially recorded for Japanese TV and future Loud Park promotions, but after three songs were broadcast on a Loud Park highlights program in Japan, WHITESNAKE received unprecedented requests for this performance to be made available for general release.
Having spent most of 2012 editing and mixing the Japanese concert in stunning HD as a multi-format DVD-CD in 5.1 and stereo, just prior to commencing the "Year Of The Snake" 2013 world tour, this exceptional performance is a welcome addition to the history of WHITESNAKE live releases. Now fans can relive the irresistible magic of WHITESNAKE in concert any time their heart and loins may desire!
The "Forevermore" songs alone are worth the price of admission, not forgetting the classic WHITESNAKE songs, "Is This Love", "Still Of The Night" and "Here I Go Again", all peformed at the height of their musical powers. It's all here. This is what WHITESNAKE fans, new and old, have been clamouring for. Highlights include blistering guitar work from the band's six string guitar slingers, Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach, who both celebrate their 10th anniversary with the band this year.
WHITESNAKE also features the earth-shaking rhythm section, The Wrecking Crew featuring Michael Devin (bass) and Brian Tichy (drums), who anchor the deep and dirty foundation of WHITESNAKE. The band is accompanied by the swirling sonic tapestries of special guest keyboardist Brian Ruedy, and of course, the chest beating, seductive vocals of front man and founder, David Coverdale.
After hearing the sound check recordings from the different Japanese venues, the band decided to include them in the package as special bonus content. They agreed that everything would be related to their 2011 Japanese tour. So, when you think about it, it is appropriate they've called the project "Made In Japan".

SCOTT WEILAND Challenges Audience Member To FightScott Weiland challenged an audience member to fight him during the former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and VELVET REVOLVER singer's solo concert in New York City this past Saturday night (March 9).
The rocker — who is touring with his solo band, THE WILDABOUTS — confronted a heckling fan at Irving Plaza, telling the man in the crowd: "So you're fucking pulling that fucking, like, gun shit off on me? Then come up and meet me one on one, man. You play a tough guy from an audience behind a barricade. I'd love to. Yeah, that guy, trust me."
He continued: "I just don't get it. Guys like you fucking waste your money." Then he added to the security staff: "Actually, let him stay here and just get all fucking riled up. He won’t be able to sleep tonight."
Video footage of the incident can be found at this location.
Weiland's 20-city run of dates feature him performing songs from the first two STONE TEMPLE PILOTS albums, 1992's "Core" and 1994's "Purple".
THE WILDABOUTS consist of multi-instrumentalist Doug Grean, bassist Tommy Black, drummer Dan Thompson and guitarist Jeremy Brown. 3

The first leg of SUICIDAL TENDENCIES' "Slam City" tour starts April 11 at the Regency Ballroom in San Franscisco and ends May 12 in San Diego at House Of Blues. All dates will see WAKE THE DEAD open. D.R.I. will support from Minneapolis to Charleston and SICK OF IT ALL will be join SUICIDAL TENDENCIES in Philadelphia, New York, Worchester, Baltimore, and from St. Petersburg until the end of the tour.
When asked why he thinks the sound of SUICIDAL TENDENCIES has stood the test of time, the band's frontman, Mike Muir, told Loudwire in a 2012 interview, "I think for us, when we started we didn't really know what we were doing. We didn't really set out and try to do something for other people. We stood there and did what we liked. We didn't care what other people thought. After we did our first record, one of my good friends came up to me and said, 'Yo, Mike, I got to talk to you. People aren't going to like the album. It's not music. You have an opportunity to make music that people can listen to on the radio.' But I didn't think that was an opportunity because I didn't like what I was hearing on the radio. Our barometer is not what people are going to think or how many records we can sell. We just want to be proud of what we make. That's why it stands the test of time. We did records that we thought were really good."
On the topic of SUICIDAL TENDENCIES' plans to release a new studio album, Muir said, "We've always had new music in the works. Now it's actually to the point that we have some that we're ready to put out. Now is the time to put out a new record and we feel really, really good about it. There will definitely be a record out this year.
Regarding what fans can expect from the upcoming CD, Muir said, "The way we look at it is that next year will be the 30th anniversary of our first record. When we look at a record, we don't want to have it sound like 2012. We want it to sound awesome 25 years from now, so when a kid who wasn't even born when we made it listens to it, he's like, 'Damn, that's a cool record!' I just had a guy from a radio station tell me that some listeners have been requesting the new song 'Institutionalized'. The young listeners don't realize that's an old song! Something like [METALLICA's recent Orion Music + More festival] is good for us, too, because a lot of people who wouldn't have listened to us will check us out because they know Robert [Trujillo, METALLICA bassist] was in the band." 2

ANCIIENTS Added To 'Death To All Tour'; New Song Available For StreamingVancouver, British Columbia, Canada-based progressive rock/metal outfit ANCIIENTS has premiered a new song from their forthcoming album, "Heart of Oak". The new track, "Faith And Oath", is available for streaming using the SoundCloud player below (courtesy of GuitarWorld.com).
Regarding the song, ANCIIENTS guitarist Chris Dyck said: "'Faith And Oath' began lyrically with some combo ideas about the Mayans' serpent-god beliefs and a strange dream I had about a snake-killing ritual. The serpent originally was representing the deceiver; as the song progressed and the vibe was realized it became our anthem for courage and strength. The chorus features Scott Ruddy from WEIRDING (killer doomy Vancouver band) on vocals with me. The proggy fast riff is what i like to call a "ninja riff"...looks hard, easy to play. Kenny's solo here is mental and I love how Hannay and Boon shift the timing on the last two repetitions of the solo riff to a swinging old 3/4 beat. The outro has Kenny laying down some sweet Dave Gilmours. We all dig PINK FLOYD... Gilmour is the man. Cheers."
ANCIIENTS has also announced its participation in the Death To All Tour. ANCIIENTS will hit the road alongside legendary metal icons Paul Masvidal, Steve DiGiorgio, and Sean Reinert, the "Human" lineup of legendary metal pioneers DEATH. Regarding the tour, ANCIIENTS guitarist Kenneth Cook said: "We are completely stoked and overjoyed to be invited to play on the 'Death To All' tour. Chuck Schuldiner and DEATH are legendary, and it is an honor to be able to celebrate his life for a great cause." A portion of the proceeds will once again benefit the Sweet Relief charity, a non-profit devoted to helping musicians without insurance who are facing serious illness.
"Heart Of Oak" is slated for a North American release on April 16 and will be available on CD, limited-edition double gatefold LP and digitally. The CD was produced by the band, and engineered by Jesse Gander (JAPANDROIDS, BISON B.C.) at The Hive Creative Labs (BLACK MOUNTAIN, NOMEANSNO) in Vancouver. It was mastered by by Alan Douches at West West Side Music (SEPULTURA, SUFFOCATION, UNEARTH) in New Windsor, New York. The cover artwork was drawn by illustrator Alison Lilly.

IRON MAIDEN Launches 'Trooper' BeerBritish rock legends IRON MAIDEN have teamed up with Cheshire family brewers Robinsons to create a new beer, Trooper.
Real ale fan and history aficionado Bruce Dickinson, MAIDEN's vocalist, played a major role in developing the unique flavour of the beer, entailing ongoing visits to Robinson's brewery in Stockport. Dickinson's on-stage Union Jack flag-waving military character is an iconic element of the band's live concerts and "The Trooper", written by bassist Steve Harris, is one of MAIDEN's most popular songs and one of the highlights of any MAIDEN show.
Announcing the partnership, Oliver Robinson, managing director of Robinsons, said: "This collaboration — between two huge British success stories — makes for an ideal and natural match; Bruce Dickinson loves his real ale, and Robinsons Brewery is one of Britain's most established and respected independent family-owned brewers."
And Bruce Dickinson added: "I'm a lifelong fan of traditional English ale; I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when we were asked to create our own beer. I have to say that I was very nervous: Robinsons are the only people I have had to audition for in 30 years. Their magic has been to create the alchemical wedding of flavor and texture that is Trooper. I love it."
Robinsons has been brewing award-winning beers from its Unicorn Brewery in Stockport for 175 years. Best known for its legendary "Old Tom" strong ale, which was voted "World's Best Beer" by the international Beers Of The World publication, it is Robinsons' younger ales (Dizzy Blonde and "Build A Rocket Boys!" beer; produced in partnership with Manchester band ELBOW) that have lately been causing a stir in the beer world and introducing future ale drinking generations to Robinsons.
Oliver Robinson said: "Trooper is a premium British ale with true depth of character and flavor. For more than thirty years, the unmistakable icon of Eddie, the band's instantly recognizable mascot, has adorned every album cover, T-shirt and poster — so it is fitting that Eddie will now adorn the cask pump clip and take centre stage on the bottle label of Trooper.
"Not only do IRON MAIDEN genuinely enjoy a good pint of cask ale, but so do many of their fans — and they have an important part to play in our customer base. This partnership works for both of us. Music and beer are great treats for the senses in their own right, but the combination is very powerful. Authentic collaborations such as this are invaluable not only to our company but to the industry as a whole, because it shows that the world of real ale is more than just manufacturing, it is liquid artistry by the people who brew it — and for the people who drink it."
Fans of both IRON MAIDEN and real ale can sign up to get news and updates on Trooper Premium British Beer from www.ironmaidenbeer.com, where bottles will be available to purchase by both U.K. and overseas customers from May 2013. 35

MY RUIN: New Album Cover UnveiledMY RUIN — the Los Angeles-based band featuring the husband-and-wife rock duo of vocalist Tairrie B. Murphy and multi-instrumentalist Mick Murphy — will release its eighth full-length album, "The Sacred Mood", on June 11 via TuneCore, Bandcamp, iTunes and Amazon.
Commented Tairrie: "As a follow-up to our 2011 album, 'A Southern Revelation', we returned to Soundtrack Black Studio in the hills of East Tennessee to once again work with friend and studio owner Joel Stooksbury, who mixed, engineered and co-produced the new album along with MY RUIN guitarist Mick Murphy.
"'The Sacred Mood' is a subtle reinvention for MY RUIN.
"In an industry that is ever-changing, we're not a band who pays attention to the current trends. We've found our sound and we simply do what we do while staying true to our roots. I think our fans appreciate our integrity and we appreciate our fans.
"We offered the last album as a free download where people could donate to the band if they wanted and it was a great success, but we are taking a different approach with our new album, which we are self-releasing once again. Unfortunately, we have learned over time that most record labels are not for us and we seem to do better on our own as a DIY independent band, which is what we always have been, today more than ever with our eighth album, 'The Sacred Mood', as a testament to our staying power.
"The atmosphere of the new album is heavily drenched in the heat of the South, where it was recorded and fueled by insomnia-filled nights in Los Angeles where it was written. The cover was designed with this in mind by a talented Manchester, U.K.-based artist and illustrator named Kayleigh Brookes, who also happens to be a longtime fan of the band. The art that goes with the album is very different than anything we've previously done before. We decided to use real elements of nature mixed with iconic illustrations to create something unique to MY RUIN that would go with the otherworldly language of the lyrics. We wanted an ethereal image for the cover and chose the moon for the background because we felt it evoked the mood of the album as a whole. The image was actually inspired by a photograph which was taken by Tor Burrows, who has worked with me creating music videos for MY RUIN's last two albums and is currently working on a teaser commercial for the album which we plan on debuting in April. I really enjoy working with Tor on our videos and being that I have always worked alone when designing the artwork for many of our previous recordings, I thought it would be an interesting change to collaborate with someone on this side of things.
"We are releasing 'The Sacred Mood' digitally and designing a unique hardcover print and e-book to accompany it. Included in the book will be photographic images and illustrations of the band, lyrics, musings, a few short stories and original art pieces. This is something I have wanted to do for a long time and our new album has given me the perfect opportunity to make it happen. We're looking forward to sharing it with the fans of our band who have continued to follow us over the years and those who are just discovering our music for the first time." 2

WAR & PEACE: 'The Flesh And Blood Sessions' Due In AprilOn April 23, Deadline Records (a division of Cleopatra Records) will release a special edition of "The Flesh And Blood Sessions" from WAR & PEACE. The collection includes an unreleased track and liner notes from Jeff Pilson.
WAR & PEACE is the all-star line-up of Jeff Pilson (DOKKEN, DIO, FOREIGNER) on lead vocals and guitar, Vinny Appice (BLACK SABBATH, DIO, KILL DEVIL HILL) on drums, Michael Diamond (LEGS DIAMOND) on bass, and Randy Hansen on lead guitar.
"The Flesh And Blood Sessions" contains the original 1988 studio sessions recorded at the legendary Sound City Studios by Angelo Arcuri (BLACK SABBATH, DIO, HELLION) and mixed by Neil Kernon (DOKKEN, QUEENSRŸCHE, KANSAS), as well as five tracks chiefly put together by Jeff Pilson in the mid 1990s.
Remastered by Wyn Davis (DOKKEN, DIO), "The Flesh And Blood Sessions" reissue comes with all new artwork, liner notes by Jeff Pilson, and includes an exclusive bonus track, "Heaven Knows", featuring guitarist Darren Housholder (LOVE/HATE), not found on the original 1999 release. Making a guest appearance on "What I Hid Behind" is Robin McAuley, with whom Jeff was working in MSG.
Jeff Pilson is a prolific musician, a multi-instrumentalist who has been in internationally-recognized bands almost his entire career. As evidenced by the musical fire power in WAR & PEACE, Pilson's collaborations lead to material that holds up in today's heavy music environment.
"To this day, I'm frequently asked about this period of the band and thought that putting out this CD could answer many questions," said Jeff.

03. If I Put My Love In You
04. I Don't Want To Be Lonely

VOLBEAT: Performance Footage Of YOUNG THE GIANT CoverFan-filmed video footage of Danish/American metal rock 'n' rollers VOLBEAT performing a cover version of the YOUNG THE GIANT song "My Body" on March 9 in San Antonio, Texa can be seen below. A studio recordind of the track will appear on VOLBEAT's fifth studio album, "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies", which will be released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on April 5, in the rest of Europe on April 8, and in North America on April 9 via Vertigo/Republic Records/Universal Music.
Seamlessly bringing together all of the band's influences and reshaping them into something gleaming and new, "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies" is a record that's rich with stories and characters woven throughout its lyrics. Some are real — like the noble lady outlaw Pearl Hart, who held up a stagecoach to buy medicine for her dying mother, or Lola Montez, the erotic dancer with her infamous "Spider Dance," or "Black Bart," the gentleman highwayman who wrote poems for the people he robbed. Others are entirely fictional. "The Nameless One" is a cautionary tale of dabbling in the dark arts, featuring the mysterious and sinister character of the title. Elsewhere, "Room 24", featuring King Diamond, was inspired by a terrifying experience in a hotel room somewhere in the heart of America.
"Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies" finds the core trio of Michael Poulsen (vocals/guitar), Anders Kjølholm (bass) and Jon Larsen (drums) joined by former ANTHRAX/THE DAMNED THINGS guitarist Rob Caggiano, who produced the album with longtime VOLBEAT co-producer Jacob Hansen.
"It's a new vibe for VOLBEAT," says Poulsen. "You've got everything — the rockabilly stuff, the melodies, the ultra-heavy stuff, the Western motifs and the big rock songs. It's everything that VOLBEAT are all about, but taken even further." The album title is a phrase that evokes another time, an era when elegant lawbreakers were the rock stars of the day. It tips its fedora to everything from the bad men (and women) of the old west to the old school metal bands who influenced the young Michael Poulsen to form his first band, DOMINUS, back in the early 90s.
As with so many classic albums, the seeds of "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies" were sown on the road in Europe and the U.S. That's where Poulsen began playing around with ideas and riffs, recording them on his mobile phone and directly to an amp. "Melody, lyrics, everything — it's just working non-stop in my head," he shares. When the band eventually returned to Denmark, it was time to go to work. The band leader recalls, "We came back from the U.S. after touring a lot over there, and isolated ourselves in our own homes for six months to finish off the album. That peace was something I needed. Even though it's very inspiring to write on the road, it's more comfortable to write at home."
It was there that the album truly began to take shape. Poulsen would close the curtains, turn off the light and draw inspiration from the old Western movies he'd watched as a child with his father. Watching the old spaghetti westerns he's watched with his father provided a catalyst for inspiration. He offers, "Sometimes it's just about the right feeling — the scenery, the lines, the dusty look. I have my own soundtrack when I see those kind of pictures."
You can hear the influence of the Old West right from the start in "Let's Shake Some Dust", an evocative intro track that features harmonica from acclaimed blues harp player Paul Lamb. You can hear it again in the rampaging "Black Bart", which Poulsen describes as "our country-MOTÖRHEAD song," and in the banjos that pepper the chorus of the hard-as-steel "Doc Holliday", a tribute to the legendary lawman and associate of the Wyatt Earp gang. But "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies" is no country and western record. If it was a car, it would be a 1973 Stutz Blackhawk with monster truck wheels — vintage and modern, stylish and muscular.
You can hear echoes of classic '50s rock 'n' roll in the soaring; "Pearl Hart", and the live classic-in-waiting "Lola Montez". The band's metal roots come to the fore via the heavy riffage of "Dead But Rising" and "The Nameless One", while the ghostly "The Lonesome Rider" – which finds Michael duetting with Sarah Blackwood of Canadian band WALK OFF THE EARTH like a modern-day Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash — beats with a rockabilly heart. Elsewhere, they bring some greased-back energy to "My Body", a cover of the hit song by U.S. pop-punk outfit YOUNG THE GIANT, while the brooding album closer "Our Loved Ones" is the nearest thing they've ever written to a ballad. Poulsen offers, "When I was growing up, my dad and mother played a lot of old records — Elvis, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry. I love that stuff — it's a drug somehow. My own record collection growing up was metal. But I listen to a lot of different styles of music. If something moves you, I don't care what it is."
The track "Room 24" features a massive coup for VOLBEAT with the guest appearance from King Diamond, the legendary front man of Danish metal pioneers MERCYFUL FATE, and one of Poulsen's musical idols. Michael reveals, "I'm a huge fan of MERCYFUL FATE and KING DIAMOND. Having King on the record is a huge privilege. Normally, it's not something he does. He wrote his own lines, and it is half my lyrics and half his. It's a weird, scary story, and he's the perfect person for it." Additional guests include Anders Pedersen on slide guitar, Rod Sinclair on banjo and Jakob Øelund on double bass.
The album itself was recorded in the legendary PUK Studios in Randers, Denmark, with Jacob Hansen and Rob Caggiano sharing production duties, which brought a new dynamic to proceedings. Poulsen reflects, "I love Jacob Hansen's work. He's part of VOLBEAT, and we worked together on all the albums so far. I started flirting with the idea of bringing Rob in as a producer too because he produced ANTHRAX and THE DAMNED THINGS, and I like the sound of what he did there. I thought, 'That could be a really cool combination,' as both are quality guys with really high standards."
In closing, Poulsen sums it up in sharing, "I chose this way of living because I love playing music and I love touring. We wanted to write, we wanted to be inspired by our idols, we just wanted to rock out. That, for me, is what music is all about."

FOSCOR Begins Recording Fourth Full-Length AlbumDark metallers FOSCOR have entered Nautilus Studios in Barcelona to begin recording their fourth full-length album. Entitled "Those Horrors Wither", the follow-up to 2009's "Groans to the Guilty" marks an expansion in the band's musical direction, away from the strict confines of black metal. Work has already started on the drum tracks, and FOSCOR will be posting regular updates and photos from the recording sessions on their Facebook page.
With a current lineup that comprises Falke (SOUL ASIDE, FAYRIERIE, ex-LUX DIVINA) and A.M. (ex-VIDRES A LA SANG) on guitar, Fiar (MELANGIA, DAWN OV HATE, CABESTRO, live session vocalist for GRAVEYARD) on bass and vocals, and Nechrist (ex-SHEMHAMPHORASH) on drums, FOSCOR was formed in Barcelona in 1997 and spent their first decade blending the best of '90's old-school black metal with both traditional and modern extreme metal styles. With three full-length albums, three splits, and appearances on KATATONIA and ENSLAVED tributes under their belts, the band released a live DVD in 2012 to commemorate their 10th anniversary. But more than just a commemoration, the DVD also represents the end of one era for the band, while "Those Horrors Wither", for which a label is being sought, represents the beginning of the next.
Commenting on the new direction, FOSCOR founders Falke and Fiar had this to say: "We have been developing our direction and sound since the very beginning, and now I think we have reached the stage where our musical abilities have increased to the extent where we can express ourselves fully though our music in the way we always wanted and we have truly come into our own. We don't really know how you would classify the new direction, but we have expanded our musical horizons, dipping into doom, and even moments of prog, whilst keeping the claustrophobic black atmosphere. I guess you could say that the new album will be much more multi-dimensional. Fans who have been with us from the start will have probably had some kind of inkling as to the direction we will be taking, and we hope they will be very satisfied with what they are going to hear. There's a lot of work yet to be done and we will try to keep everyone updated every step of the way. Darkness will speak again..."
FOSCOR's next live appearance will be on May 21 at the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona.

DISTURBED Frontman's DEVICE: EPK AvailableAn EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for DEVICE, the industrial-style project featuring DISTURBED frontman David Draiman and former FILTER guitarist Geno Lenardo, can be seen below.
DEVICE's self-titled debut album is due out April 9 and features guest appearances from AVENGED SEVENFOLD singer M. Shadows, SYSTEM OF A DOWN vocalist Serj Tankian, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello, HALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale, BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler and ex-DEEP PURPLE bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes.
The "Vilify" single and video were officially released on February 19. Draiman told The Pulse Of Radio where the track is coming from musically and lyrically: "It is a very fierce introductory track for this record. It has a very strong fusion of that electronic element in there. Still very heavy, still very rhythmic. Very anthemic, very intensely melodic. It's a song that lyrically is talking about everyone out there who likes to make me out to be such a bad guy, this monster of epic proportions, which I'm really not."
The "Vilify" clip was directed by P.R. Brown, who has previously collaborated with such artists as MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, John Mayer, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, Prince, AUDIOSLAVE, MÖTLEY CRÜE and SIXX: A.M.
Draiman launched DEVICE last year after DISTURBED announced in the fall of 2011 that it was going on an extended hiatus.
Lenardo will not be part of the DEVICE live band due to previous commitments, but the touring lineup includes EVANESCENCE drummer Will Hunt and DOPE guitarist Virus.
The group will make its debut at several big U.S. rock festivals this April and May, including Welcome To Rockville, Carolina Rebellion and Rock On The Range.

Since ICED EARTH's latest album, "Dystopia", was released in October 2011, the band has been on the attack in a big way, playing more shows in the past year than in the previous ten years... combined.
Comments ICED EARTH guitarist/mainman Jon Schaffer: "I feel this is a testament to a new beginning, a new energy and a rock solid determination that will see us taking the music of ICED EARTH to every corner of the globe; spreading the awareness of our brand of metal in a way that hasn't been done before. I've never been more proud of this band, our crew, and the people behind the scenes that are responsible for much of our success."
Early on in the world tour, the band decided that they wanted to capture this newfound energy and passion on film. The biggest question was deciding where to film. There were so many great shows and audiences around the world that it was very challenging to decide which city to choose for this special event. When the offer came in to film at the ancient Kourion Theater in Limassol, Cyprus, they were immediately attracted to that idea. The history and culture there, as well as the Cypriot audience, which the band experienced in December 2011, solidified the decision to film the DVD in Cyprus. Filming and recording a two-and-a-half-hour show in an amphitheater that is 6000 years old and is not set up for a rock concert, paired with 40-degree-Celsius heat, were just some of the obstacles to overcome. But the finished product makes up for any of the challenges that the band and crew faced on that special night.

THE AMENTA: 'Teeth' Video Released"Teeth", the new video from THE AMENTA, Australia's grime and grit fuelled iconoclasts, can be seen below. The song comes off the band's new album, "Flesh Is Heir", which will be released in Australia on March 23 through EVP Recordings and the rest of the world on March 25 via France's Listenable Records.
Having already received excellent preliminary reviews in the European and Australian press, "Flesh Is Heir" is already being hailed as THE album of 2013.
The first full-length to be written by the current lineup, "Flesh Is Heir" was also recorded and mixed completely by the band. Eschewing the current trend of "name" engineers to give an album cache and a sound-alike mix, THE AMENTA have embraced a DIY spirit which as resulted in the truest representation of how THE AMENTA should sound to date.
Lyrically the album deals with the two warring sides of the human psyche: The Obliterate (which desires to be subsumed and therefore free) and the Realist (which embraces pain as a life truth).
"Flesh Is Heir" track listing:
01. Flesh Is Heir
02. Ego Ergo Sum
03. Teeth
04. A Womb Tone
05. Obliterate's Prayer
06. Sewer
07. The Argument
08. Cell
09. Disintegrate
10. A Palimpsest
11. Tabula Rasa
The music, true to form, is a step forward for THE AMENTA. 2004's "Occasus" was the band's modern death metal album, fusing subtle electronics to grinding riffs and pummeling drums. 2008's "n0n" was the bands extreme industrial album, densely layering fragmented electronics and micro-programming over digitally destroyed guitars. "Flesh Is Heir" is an organic extreme metal album. Real sounds recorded in real spaces, demixed and torn apart in real time. Huge riffs that foreground THE AMENTA's hitherto buried sense of melody. The most versatile and haunting vocal performance THE AMENTA have achieved. Elements of what has gone before but consumed and re-constituted. A bleak and dirty journey through mental decay and pressure.
THE AMENTA will be main support to British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH on their April Australian tour. In addition, THE AMENTA will headline Australia's leading metal webzine Metal Obsession's fifth-birthday celebration in late March as well as playing Indonesia's Hammersonic festival in Jarkarta just after a headlining show at Perth's Amplifier Bar.The band will then co-headline The New Dead Fest in Adelaide with PSYCROPTIC. 2

Additionally the box will feature a poster, a patch, two pins and a sticker plus enough space for last year's "Undead" album. The bonus track will be featured on the vinyl version of "Unborn" as well.
Led by the inimitable Chris Barnes, owner of one of the most powerful and instantly recognizable voices in the genre, SIX FEET UNDER are returning with an overhauled lineup that sees them reinvigorated and churning out some of the most visceral music they have ever put their name to.
In November of 2010 when vocalist and founding member Chris Barnes first started to get the idea of working with new writers for SIX FEET UNDER's next release, he contacted Rob Arnold, Jari Laine, and Ben Savage to share in the writing process. After just two years of writing and recording 20 plus tracks, and releasing "Undead" in May of 2012, SIX FEET UNDER are now proud to unveil "Undead"'s demented fraternal twin...
"The journey to create, write, and record 'Undead' and 'Unborn' has been the most challenging and exciting musical endeavor and process I have ever been involved with," says Barnes. "Working with all these amazing writers and musicians like Ben Savage (WHITECHAPEL) on songs like 'Neuro Osmosis' and 'Fragment' are some of the most dynamic, beautiful, and brutal songs I've ever had the pleasure of putting lyrics to." Barnes continues, "I believe Ben is a true innovator of the death metal genre. It was also a lot of fun working Jari Laine from TORTURE KILLER again. We wrote a great album together a few years back called 'Swarm!' — one of my favorite releases I've been involved with — and Jari is someone who I have really wanted to work with again ever since. I wanted to revisit collaborating with Jari because of how well we work together; proof of that on 'Unborn' are the hook heavy sounds of songs like 'Zombie Blood Curse' and 'Incision'."
Barnes concludes, "I can't wait for 'Unborn' to be unleashed upon the death metal masses this spring!! 'Unborn' is gonna make you wish you were never born."
SIX FEET UNDER in May 2012 announced the addition of Swedish rhythm guitarist Ola Englund (FEARED, SCARPOINT) to the group's ranks. Englund, who made his first official appearance with the band on the "18 Nights Of Blood Tour", took the place of Rob Arnold (CHIMAIRA).
"Undead" was released on May 22, 2012 through Metal Blade Records. The 12-track CD was produced by Mark Lewis (DEICIDE, DEVILDRIVER) and mixed by Jason Suecof (WHITECHAPEL, JOB FOR A COWBOY), at AudioHammer Studios in Sanford, Florida.
SIX FEET UNDER last year parted ways with bassist Matt DeVries and replaced him with Jeff Hughell, formerly of the Santa Cruz, California technical death metal band BRAIN DRILL and Concord, California death metal group VILE, and currently of RECIPROCAL.

SLASH Getting Down To Work On Third Solo EffortAccording to The Pulse Of Radio, Slash has written on Twitter that he's already thinking ahead to his third solo album, even though it's been less than year since his sophomore effort, "Apocalyptic Love", arrived. Slash posted, "Coming up with a lot of cool shit for new songs and a ton of cool ideas recorded from the tour. Going to start putting them together." He later added that ALTER BRIDGE fans could rest assured that singer Myles Kennedy would record their new album before getting back together with Slash, saying, "AB fans have no cause for worry. They will soon release a new CD and tour this year. I will catch Myles on the flip side."
Kennedy divides his time between ALTER BRIDGE, who are working on their fourth studio set, and Slash, for whom he fronts Slash's touring and recording group MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS.
Slash, Kennedy and THE CONSPIRATORS have recently completed nearly a year's worth of touring behind "Apocalyptic Love".
In other news, Slash joined Steven Tyler and Joe Perry to play AEROSMITH's "Mama Kin" on Sunday afternoon (March 10) at the West Hollywood store of fashion designer John Varvatos. The event was Varvatos' 10th annual benefit for Stuart House, a facility to help children who have been sexually abused. Tyler and Perry, backed by other musicians, ran through an hour-long set of AEROSMITH classics for an audience that included Alice Cooper, Eddie Van Halen, Billy Idol, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner and more.
Slash has been keeping himself busy by creating his own version of the theme song to the "Angry Birds" video game as well as appearing as a character in the game. He's also confirmed his participation in the "Band Fuse: Rock Legends" video game. Slash has also composed the score for "Nothing To Fear", the first movie from his Slasher Films production company, which went into production last year but has yet to be released. 6

"Infamous Last Words" comes off TEAR OUT THE HEART's debut album, "Violence" which will be released on March 19 via Victory Records.
Upon inking deal with Victory in August 2012, TEAR OUT THE HEART began writing what would become one of the most dynamic, powerful releases of 2013. Utilizing vocalist Tyler Konersman's all-encompassing range, "Violence" boasts unrivaled clean singing alongside screams that are in a class of their own. "It's a record about deception and revenge," states Konersman. "It's about self enlightenment and growing into a much stronger, more receptive version of your previous self. 'Violence' is about no one being in your corner when times are at their hardest, who still want to celebrate with you at the end of the day as if they had a part in your success."
Complete with hauntingly catchy choruses and melodies that will shock and surprise you, "Violence" will be stuck in your head in the best way. Konersman continues, "I realize this is terribly cliché, but it is easily the heaviest, most melodic record we have ever written; orchestrated both maturely and tastefully. Like it or not, this album is going to take over the world."
With standouts like "Infamous Last Words", it is clear that producer Caleb Shomo, formerly of ATTACK! ATTACK!, has taken a very special interest in TEAR OUT THE HEART and their aggressive delivery. AOL's Noisecreep had this to say upon first listen: "'Violence' is teeming with soaring choruses, neck-snapping breakdowns and doomsday-kissed guitars. Don't be surprised if you see these guys headlining over some of their heroes soon."
For fans of ATREYU, A DAY TO REMEMBER, BRING ME THE HORIZON and AS I LAY DYING, TEAR OUT THE HEART has arrived to take the world by storm, one impossibly energetic song at a time. With album art beautifully executed by Dan Mumford (A DAY TO REMEMBER, PARKWAY DRIVE, GALLOWS), let the creepy, ominous castle set the stage for the chaotic, bewitching performance that is "Violence".
TEAR OUT THE HEART is:
Tyler Konersma - Vocals
Josh Spohr - Guitar
Mattieu Murphy - Guitar
Isaac Etter - Bass/ Vocals
Matt Epstein - Drums 2

FEED HER TO THE SHARKS: 'Memory Of You' Lyric Video ReleasedThe lyric video for the song "Memory Of You" from the up-and-coming Australian metalcore band FEED HER TO THE SHARKS can be seen below. The track comes off the group's new album, "Savage Seas", set for release this summer.
FEED HER TO THE SHARKS has been blazing the underground trail for some time — attracting fans across the globe with their pristine technical sound and engaging live performances. Originally discovered in 2012 by DARKEST HOUR guitarist Mike Schleibaum whilst already having a Fredrik Nordström-produced full-length album tacked to their name, this gifted five-piece is ready to take things above and beyond in 2013.
Fans can purchase "Memory Of You" now via iTunes.
FEED HER TO THE SHARKS will supporting technical metal titans BORN OF OSIRIS on a tour of Australia in May. Additional support will come from UPON A BURNING BODY and A BREACH OF SILENCE. With this tour under their belts, FEED HER TO THE SHARKS will add to an already stellar list of international acts that they've had the opportunity to perform with, such as SUICIDE SILENCE, AUGUST BURNS RED, ASKING ALEXANDRIA and more.
"'Memory Of You' is a perfect example of the type of metal we embody. A storm is coming, so prepare yourself for blood-pumping adrenaline, bone crushing brutality and beautiful melody,' states FEED HER TO THE SHARKS vocalist Andrew Van der Zalm. "Join the feeding frenzy and sink your teeth into this track today!"
"We recently played with FEED HER TO THE SHARKS on a last-minute show addition to our 'Human Romance' Australian tour. Immediately, a few of the guys and I were impressed with FEED HER TO THE SHARKS' raw power and total precision," states DARKEST HOUR guitarist and co-manager Mike Schleibaum. "It was like watching a band who had been around for years destroy the stage. The sound, the vibe, it was all so pure and perfect. After the show, we were pleased to find out they were some of the nicest down-to-earth dudes around. I knew I had to share their record with our long time manager and good friend Mike Mowery. The rest is history writing itself.
"When I was young, Australia seemed so far away, an imaginary place that only AC/DC lived. Nowadays it all seems so close. I'm happy to help break these dudes out of Australia, onto the world stage and hopefully to a town near you soon."
FEED HER TO THE SHARKS have been working at a frenzied pace since forming in Melbourne, Victoria in February, 2009. The band recorded their debut album, "The Beauty Of Falling", in their own studio in 2011. They worked in collaboration with world renowned metal producers Fredrik Nordstrom and Henrik Udd who handled the mixing of the debut album. The result: an independent release that has the sonic punch of a full-scale studio production, sure to dent stereos and see heads banging across the world. "The Beauty Of Falling" is an album that fearlessly expands on a beloved genre while at the same time providing a familiar entry point for heavy music fans.
FEED HER TO THE SHARKS is made of up several talented musicians, including vocalist and pianist Andrew Vanderzalm and guitarist/synth player Kim Choo, who are both classically trained pianists. On top of that, Choo produces music out of his home studio and has a degree in audio engineering. Full-time drummer Jan Benkwitz is recognized internationally for being an extremely talented player.
