RED VOODOO Drop "Style" Single And Video From Upcoming SAMMY HAGAR-Endorsed Debut EPRed Voodoo is breaking out on the scene with their electric stage presence, polished harmonies, and classic but fresh new take on rock ‘n’ roll. Based out of Sacramento, CA, the group has been playing clubs since 2019 and released two singles, “Rise Up” and “Bring It Back,” in 2020. This led to opening spots for heavy hitters in rock such as Rock N’ Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar, Bay Area legends Y&T, Everclear, and many more.
Now, Red Voodoo has just wrapped up recording at the famous Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco, working on their 5-track EP with Grammy nominated producer Jaimeson Durr (Don Henley, Sammy Hagar, Nancy Wilson, etc.). The group's goal is to make rock mainstream again, and spark a fire in the hearts of music lovers everywhere. Red Voodoo consists of lead singer and frontman Dino McCord, lead guitarist Davin Loiler, bassist Andrew Edwards, and drummer Andy Nathan. The band released their first single, “Mystery Girl,” in 2023, and it is quickly approaching 300,000 streams on Spotify, and people are taking notice.
“What I love most about Red Voodoo. They remind me so much of Montrose. They f#$%&* mean it when they're performing anything. They are hungry, and they're f#$%&* good. They got what it takes. It's just a matter of time.” - Sammy Hagar
“Red Voodoo represent the true spirit of rock n’ roll and they remind me of why I wanted to play in a band when I was a kid!” - Jeremy Popoff (Lit)
The band is also very excited to release their second single, “Style”, and as singer Dino explains, “Style makes you groove and dance. Retro is coming back, and I think writing a song that captures the era of vinyl records, bell bottoms, and RnR is something that is very fun!”
“Style” is inspired by the familiar sounds of 1970’s rock and roll. Combined with a modern sound, catchy lyrics, and a recognizable beat, the Sacramento musicians deliver yet another ear worm. The music video for the track was recorded in San Francisco, California by Michigan based director, Cooper Arent. The video showcases the chemistry of the members in the band, while also focusing on outfits and fashion, and fittingly for a song whose lyrics discuss “bell bottom jeans” and “Vogue Magazine”.
Listen to "Style" here, and watch the Cooper Arent-directed music video for the song below.
Red Voodoo is available on a limited-edition vinyl. Pre-order your copy here.

KIRK HAMMETT On METALLICA: 'It's A Musical Love Affair Among The Four Of Us'In a new interview with American Songwriter, METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett discussed the band's longevity, saying: "I've never said this before, but it feels right saying it: It's a musical love affair among the four of us and the music that we're making. It brings out the love among the four of us. It's an incredibly bonding thing. It's really powerful. It goes beyond us. METALLICA has become bigger than we as individuals will ever be able to become. It's crazy. All we can do now is maintain it and persevere towards it, respect it, and just try and guide it. It's a bigger thing than us now. That's a blessing, and at the same time, it's hard to contend with. There are no rule books or anything. So we're just going to continue what we're doing because what we're doing seems to be working.
"The band seems to get bigger," he continues. "I guess that's a good thing. We're just going to continue to do the positive thing, which is make music that brings people together and helps people. That seems like it's the M.O. for the band, and we'll continue to serve that. Because it's gone beyond so many other things. It's beyond status, beyond finances, beyond petty fucking competition. It's culture in its highest fucking form, in that it helps and inspires people, and gets people through their day. It continues to do this, and there's no real end. It isn't like someone could wake up and say, 'That's the end of METALLICA.' No. It's like saying that's the end of music. That will never happen. Music is just one of those things that's needed in life, and thank God we have it."
Last August, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich spoke about the band's longevity and multigenerational appeal, telling Jim Kerr of New York's Q104.3 radio station: "It's pretty surreal, honestly. 42 years in, it's pretty crazy. And it's still, and I've said this a thousand times, and people that follow us probably roll their eyes every time the following comes out of my mouth, but it still feels like we're just getting started and it still feels like we are just trying to figure it all out and we keep threatening, at least to people around us, that we may actually turn professional at some point soon. But it's crazy, the dedication and the support from the fans over the years. And, obviously, it's not all the same fans. There's a whole revolving door, and especially in the wake of, say, a phenomena like 'Stranger Things' last summer [Editor's note: Lars is referring to one of the most viral moments of 'Stranger Things' season four, the scene where Eddie Munson, played by Joseph Quinn, played a guitar solo of METALLICA's 'Master Of Puppets' during the finale of the hit Netflix show], there's a whole new, young generation that are showing up at all the shows, and I'm getting recognized by 10-year-olds on the street. And so it's pretty crazy that 42 years into this ride that that's still happening and it's pretty crazy the shows we have here this weekend at MetLife are the biggest shows we've ever played in the greater New York, Jersey, tri-state area. So the fact that that keeps sort of continue to grow and certainly post-COVID, that there's this kind of excitement, admiration, appreciation for live music and that everybody's out celebrating life and togetherness and so on is a crazy thing."
Ulrich continued: "For a lot of years, in our twenties and thirties, we were full of piss and vinegar, as they say, and probably never slowed down long enough to take any of it in, as one doesn't when one just keeps cruising at that speed, but now in our advanced ages here, even though we still feel, we still feel [very young], it's amazing that there's still this love for heavy music and for what we do. The difference now, compared to, say, 20, 30 years ago, is that we slow down long enough to take it in and appreciate the love, appreciate the generosity of the fans and the interaction and how fortunate we all are sharing music and to be able to still feel that we're out here, and like I said before, we still connect with fans at the level that we're connecting and we still have a level of sort of music and a level of, I guess, intensity and can go up and feel that we're delivering the goods to the level that we still can share that and feel good about what we're doing."
Earlier last year, Ulrich credited the use of "Master Of Puppets" in "Stranger Things" with creating a whole new generation of METALLICA fans.
As a result of the song's appearance in the show, "Master Of Puppets" — the title track of METALLICA's 1986 album — went on to top of the iTunes Rock Chart and crack the Spotify Top 50.
Ulrich told Japan's TVK: "I'm just so happy that hard music and hard rock still has a place. To see so many young people connecting with music again. . . I can see it my kids; I can see it, in the last nine months, the 'Stranger Things' phenomenon of so many young kids discovering 'Master Of Puppets' and that being a gateway to maybe more METALLICA music or to more heavy music or heavy rock music."
Lars went on to say that the possibility for METALLICA's music to reach a new audience seems endless.
"I see that there's still so much, all over the world, a coming of age when kids are 12, 13, 14 years old, to get into music and for us to be part of that discovery is an incredible thing," he explained.
In 2016, Ulrich told Vice that he and his bandmates don't make a concerted effort to bring in new fans or win over naysayers whenever they release a new album. "I mean, we are all aware kind of aware of the fact of how wide the net is cast," he said. "And like I said, most things that I see in the world is in grays, so it's pretty easy with this stuff. So 40-year-olds, 50-year-olds, 30-year-olds, 20-year-olds, teens, it's fine. We don't go out of our way to do one thing more than the other. I think that there still there seems to be a rite of passage for 13 and 14-year-old boys and in lots of places around the world. There are still a lot of young kids. When I occasionally check our social media, I can tell that a lot of them are younger, which is cool. So I think we got a pretty good balance. There are certain places like in Scandinavia, they're really young and there is like 14-year-old girls down in the front row. Sometimes parents bring their kids, or kids bring their parents. It's fun."

BUCK DHARMA: METALLICA's Cover Of 'Astronomy' Gave BLUE ÖYSTER CULT 'Some Cred With The Younger Generation'In a new interview with Canada's The Metal Voice, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT guitarist Buck Dharma spoke about what it was like to have one of his band's songs covered by METALLICA. "Astronomy", which was first recorded for BLUE ÖYSTER CULT's 1974 album "Secret Treaties", was interpreted by METALLICA on the band's 1998 album "Garage Inc."
"Yeah, it gave us some cred with the younger generation behind us," he said. "And, of course, we were very flattered when they did it. It's nice to get some recognition like that. I mean, I love all the covers of our songs that people do, and there's a lot of 'em out there."
In 2020, Joe Bouchard, a founding member and bassist of BLUE ÖYSTER CULT for sixteen years, who also played piano, keyboards and guitar, told RockHistoryMusic.com about how he first crossed paths with METALLICA: "I went to see [them play]. This is about 1995. I didn't even know that they knew who I was. But I got a backstage pass. They had everybody held up in the catering room; everybody was in the catering room. I had the nice, sort of, management pass; everybody else had to wait there. So I'm walking down the hall, and I look over. 'Oh, there's the bass player from METALLICA.' I said, 'Jason, it's Joe Bouchard.' He says, 'You're Joe Bouchard?' And he grabs my hand, and he would not stop — he would not let go of my hand. [Laughs] And they were just in front of 20,000 people, and everybody was going crazy. And I felt like I'm not really anybody — I'm just some guy hanging out backstage. So I said, 'Jason, come on down to the catering room. I'll introduce you to the whole room. You can sign some autographs and talk to my friends.' And all my friends from the guitar workshop were there. And [Jason] said [about me], 'That guy meant so much to me.'"
Asked how he found out METALLICA was going to cover the song he co-wrote with his brother, drummer Albert, and the group's producer, the former music journalist Sandy Pearlman, Joe said: "At first, I heard they were gonna record a BLUE ÖYSTER CULT song. It was the early days of the Internet — [and I found out about it through] an America Online chat board. And I said, 'Oh, that's great. They'll probably do '[(Don't Fear) The] Reaper' or one of the usuals.' But then, a couple of weeks later, I found out they were doing 'Astronomy'. [I was, like], 'Wow, that's great.' So I go down to my mailbox, my post box, and there was a cassette in my post box. I took the cassette out and put it in my car, my Datsun old radio, and I'm listening to 'Astronomy' by METALLICA. And I'm going, 'Oh, this is good.; I wanted to jump up and down, but I was driving. But I was really excited. I'll never forget that feeling.
"I mean, some of the fans still love the original version better, but, to me, they did a brilliant job. The hair stands up on the back of my neck when I hear James [Hetfield] singing the melody that I wrote while I was walking on the beach.
"Then we went and we met the rest of the guys. We went to the premiere of the album at a place in New York City, and they were really nice to us, and they were happy that we were happy with the way they did it. Not everybody is happy when you get a cover. Sometimes the cover is [not that great]. [Laughs]"
Speaking about how having METALLICA cover one of his songs affected him, Joe said: "It changed my life — it really changed my life. I was doing all kinds of different things at the time — I was working in a publishing company; I learned the book business; I got my master's degree in music. You know, [I was] doing all this kind of crazy stuff that I wanted to do — go back to college. [Laughs] I heard Rivers Cuomo went back to Harvard after he was a rock star, so I felt like I'm kind of following in WEEZER's footsteps.
"So then, after that, I said, 'I've gotta get back to recording.' First of all, I quit my day job. And I said, 'I've gotta get back into writing songs again.' I mean, this is a tremendous pat on the back, as a songwriter, to get a cover [from a band like METALLICA]. It was that huge all over the world. I would get statements from, like, Brazil and Argentina and France and Germany. [I was], like, 'Wow. They're huge everywhere.'
"It was just luck. I said, 'It happened once. It'll probably never happen again.' But you've gotta do what you've gotta do." 1

RON KEEL BAND Shares Official Lyric Video for New Single "Hard On The Outside (Heart On The Inside)"RFK Media has released Ron Keel Band’s "Hard On The Outside (Heart On The Inside)" as the next single from the forthcoming album, Keelworld.
Ron Keel: "'Hard On The Outside (Heart On The Inside)' sings a message from the heart that everyone should be able to relate to. In the tradition of the best songs of my career like 'The Right To Rock', 'Wild Forever', 'When This Is Over' and 'The Last Bottle On Earth', I’m not just singing something – I’m saying something."

MASS PUNISHMENT Unleash New Single / Video "Godless America"Extreme metal force, Mass Punishment, proudly unveils their official music video for the powerful track, "Godless America", taken from their highly anticipated album Proving Grounds, Vol.1, set to be unleashed via Wormholedeath. Check it out below.
This song is a visceral reaction to the nightmare of chaos and division that has gripped the United States to its very core. From the harrowing events of September 11, 2001, and the subsequent wars, to the tumultuous lockdowns, protests, and riots, compounded by economic turmoil and faltering leadership, all exacerbated by a corrupt government teetering on the edge of civil unrest.
Directed by the band's vocalist, Erick Laurino, this marks their second music video endeavor. Expertly blending visually striking scenes of real-life events with a compelling performance by band members Erick Laurino and Christopher Milos, this production is guaranteed to mesmerize viewers and ignite a call for change.
Mass Punishment is a four- piece metalcore / extreme metal band based out of New Jersey music designed to inform as well as hit as hard as the facts and events the songs are written about. Current events on a social, political, environmental, and economic scale. Of government corruption and depopulation with a population facing death by design.
A unique fusion of influences from iconic bands like Pantera, Slayer, Fear Factory, Megadeth, Anthrax, Iron Maiden, Korn, Misery Signals, Emmure, Slipknot, Rush, and Soulfly, Mass Punishment delivers a sound that is both powerful and evocative.
Mass Punishment is:
Erick Laurino (Vocals)
Christopher Milos (Guitars)
Scott Ferguson (Bass)
Brian Donat (Drums)

K.K. DOWNING Says It's 'A Mystery' Why TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS-Era JUDAS PRIEST Albums Are Not Available On Streaming ServicesIn a new interview with Rob Rush of Long Island's 94.3 The Shark radio station, former JUDAS PRIEST and current KK'S PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing was asked why the two studio albums singer Tim "Ripper" Owens recorded with JUDAS PRIEST — 1997's "Jugulator" and 2001's "Demolition" — are not available on the major streaming services. Downing replied (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Yeah, [it's] a little bit of a mystery, really. Obviously, I no longer have any control over those records, but I don't think that it's a label thing 'cause labels always like to sell records, don't they? And, obviously, myself and Ripper, we're still very proud of everything that we've done as a part of our history and legacy, and we'd very much like to see the records out there in the stores once more. So, hopefully, we'll see that come to fruition. But the good news is that this band KK'S PRIEST will be out there playing those songs throughout this year, so everyone is welcome to come down and experience those magical times that we now refer to as the 'Ripper era' or the 'Ripper years.' And, yeah, so everyone can enjoy those songs again in a live format, which, in a lot of ways, is even better. But let's hope the records will appear at some point."
Owens joined PRIEST in 1996 after being discovered when the band's drummer was given a videotape of him performing with the PRIEST cover band BRITISH STEEL. JUDAS PRIEST at the time was seeking a replacement for Rob Halford, who has since rejoined the band.
Back in 2019, JUDAS PRIEST bassist Ian Hill was asked in an interview with "Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon" if the unavailability of the Owens-era PRIEST albums was a rights-related issue or if it was a deliberate attempt to bury that part of PRIEST's past. Hill responded: "It's an odd one, really, because there's some good material on both of those albums. And Ripper is a terrific vocalist, and he did a tremendous job on 'Jugulator' and 'Demolition'. And why they're not for sale has got nothing to do with us — put it like that. Whether it's a contractual thing between Sony and whoever owns the copyrights to those albums, I don't know. But it is a shame, because there's some good material there. And as a band, it's still JUDAS PRIEST. I know it wasn't the trademark lineup, but it was still JUDAS PRIEST nonetheless. So, it's disappointing — if that's true that the material is not available. It really is."
A few years ago, Tim told "Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon" that he was a little miffed by the fact that fans cannot find the music that he made with PRIEST on any of the music-streaming services or other online retailers. "My issue is I would like to buy the records," he said. "I'd like to buy some to even sell when I'm touring solo, but you can't when they're kind of gone. And that's only the thing I talk about… If they were out there, I could maybe buy 'em at cost and sell 'em at my concerts. That would be kind of cool. Then I'd have my whole catalog."
KK'S PRIEST features former JUDAS PRIEST members Downing and Owens, alongside guitarist A.J. Mills (HOSTILE),bassist Tony Newton (VOODOO SIX) and drummer Sean Elg (DEATHRIDERS, CAGE).
KK'S PRIEST recently embarked on its first-ever U.S. headlining tour. The trek kicked off on March 7 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with support from L.A. GUNS and BURNING WITCHES. The tour will be the first of at least a two-leg USA run of shows, planned to continue later in 2024.
KK'S PRIEST made its live debut on July 6, 2023 at Downing's KK's Steel Mill in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.
KK'S PRIEST's sophomore album, "The Sinner Rides Again", came out in September 2023 via the Austrian label Napalm Records.
The art for "The Sinner Rides Again" was created by talented artist Andy Pilkington.
K.K. formed KK'S PRIEST after JUDAS PRIEST turned down his offer to rejoin the band for their 50th-anniversary tour. It followed a couple of celebrated stage appearances, first with former MANOWAR guitarist Ross The Boss in the summer of 2019, then with a one-off lineup that included former MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson and former PRIEST drummer Les Binks later that year.
KK'S PRIEST released its debut album, "Sermons Of The Sinner", in October 2021 via Explorer1 Music Group/EX1 Records.
Downing spent four months writing and recording "Sermons Of The Sinner" and, along with new ideas, he even resurrected a few archived riffs from the 1980s.
Downing was reunited with JUDAS PRIEST for a performance at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony in November 2022 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
PRIEST received the Musical Excellence Award at the event, which honored Eminem, Dolly Parton, DURAN DURAN, Lionel Richie, Pat Benatar, EURYTHMICS and Carly Simon in the Performers category.
Downing left PRIEST in 2011 amid claims of band conflict, shoddy management and declining quality of performance. He was replaced by Richie Faulkner, nearly three decades his junior.
In 2019, Downing said that he reached out to JUDAS PRIEST about taking part in the band's 50th-anniversary tour but that their response was that they were not interested in including him in the celebrations.
In 2018, Downing revealed that he sent two resignation letters to his bandmates when he decided to quit JUDAS PRIEST. The first was described as "a graceful exit note, implying a smooth retirement from music," while the second was "angrier, laying out all of his frustrations with specific parties."
Downing later said that he believed the second letter was "a key reason" he wasn't invited to rejoin PRIEST after Glenn Tipton's decision to retire from touring. 2

LEMMY's Ashes To Be Enshrined At West Hollywood's Rainbow Bar & Grill Next MonthOn Friday, April 19 at 9:00 p.m., the ashes of MOTÖRHEAD's legendary frontman Lemmy Kilmister will be enshrined at West Hollywood, California's famous Rainbow Bar & Grill on the Sunset Strip. Fans are also invited "to raise a very unique toast to Lemmy and MOTÖRHEAD with the unveiling of brand new Motörhead Whiskey," according to a social media post from the Rainbow.
Back in November 2016, Rainbow Bar & Grill dedicated its patio to Lemmy and re-named it "Lemmy's Lounge." It was a fitting gesture from the Rainbow, as when Lemmy wasn't touring or recording, the majority of his waking hours were spent on said patio. There was already a life-size bronze statue immortalizing Lemmy at the Rainbow, which attracts fans from all over the world, and Lemmy's Lounge allows hardcore fans and casual patrons alike to sample the wares and atmosphere that Lemmy loved so much.
To celebrate Lemmy's Lounge, Roxy owner Nic Adler and Goldenvoice's Paul Tollett kindly agreed to allow the painting of a celebratory mural commemorating the life of Lemmy and MOTÖRHEAD on the side wall of the Roxy, opposite Lemmy's Lounge and statue.
According to Visit West Hollywood, Lemmy loved the Rainbow so much that he moved to West Hollywood to be closer to it. In the last two decades of his life, he was a daily fixture at the Rainbow whenever the band was not on tour, and he was often seen playing the bar's video poker machine.
Lemmy died on December 28, 2015 at the age of 70 shortly after learning he had been diagnosed with cancer.
MOTÖRHEAD had to cancel a number of shows in 2015 because of Lemmy's poor health, although the band did manage to complete the aforementioned European tour a couple of weeks before his death.
In June 2020, it was announced that Lemmy would get the biopic treatment. The upcoming film, "Lemmy", will be directed by Greg Olliver, who previously helmed the 2010 documentary of the same name, "Lemmy".
A custom-made urn containing Lemmy's ashes is on permanent display in a columbarium at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood, California.
In a 2015 interview with Kerrang! magazine, Lemmy was asked how it makes him feel when people call him a legend. He responded: "As long as they don't believe it, that's alright." He continued: "Who wouldn’t want a hero somewhere in their lives? And it might as well be me, 'cause I don't take the piss out of them for it, and I don't laugh at them because of it." But he added, "I'm not a legend. I never thought of myself as being special in particular. Maybe I make brilliant music, but that's about it."
As previously reported, Lemmy will be permanently memorialized at the Bloodstock Open Air festival in the United Kingdom. Some of Lemmy's ashes will be housed at Bloodstock — one of only a few places globally — in a unique urn, with the festival commissioning a bust of Lemmy to incorporate the ashes. Fans will be able to view the installation and pay tribute to Lemmy and his legacy in the RAM Gallery on site. Once the festival is over, the bust of Lemmy will move to Nottingham's Rock City venue, where fans will have access to the ashes; they will return each and every year to their primary home on the hallowed turf of Bloodstock at Catton Park.

CRUZH Streaming Title Track From The Jungle Revolution; Album Out NowSwedish glam rockers Cruzh have released their new album, The Jungle Revolution, via Frontiers Records. Check out a visualizer for the title track:
Order The Jungle Revolution here.
With The Jungle Revolution, Cruzh is going back to find the pureness of the wild, their inner animals, the attitude of rock ‘n’ roll. With full force and some added power in the line-up, Alex, Butabi, Anton and Silver are joined by guitar slinger Johan Öberg. With two guitar players, the band has drifted towards a tougher more riff-driven direction without losing their love for big choruses with insanely catchy hooks.
Hailing from Sweden, Cruzh was conceived when former TrashQueen members Anton Joensson and Dennis Butabi Borg united with Tony Andersson, known for his work on an unreleased TrashQueen record. Cruzh made waves in March 2013 with their online debut, sparking intrigue with the unveiling of "In a Blink of an Eye." The subsequent release of "Stay" and cryptic social media clues further fueled speculation. The fall of 2013 marked their unmasking, coinciding with the acclaimed Hard To Get EP. Cruzh's journey reached new heights in 2015 when Frontiers Music Srl embraced them.
Fast forward to 2024, Cruzh anticipates the release of The Jungle Revolution, an album set to redefine their musical narrative and captivate audiences worldwide. Stay tuned for Cruzh's next chapter as they continue pushing the boundaries of rock music.
With all five band members operating as songwriters, the band is hungry and eager to spread The Jungle Revolution on the road.

Former SABATON Guitarist TOMMY JOHANSSON Shares Cover Of JOHN DENVER's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" (Video)Former Sabaton guitarist / Majestica frontman Tommy Johansson has shared his weekly cover, this time taking on John Denver's 1971 classic, "Take Me Home, Country Roads".
Johansson recently announced his departure from Sabaton and issued the following statement:
"My dear friends! After seven glorious years of heavy metal, I have decided to step down as the guitarist of Sabaton. This has been the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my entire life.
As many of you may know, I do a lot of things outside of Sabaton. I play with another band, perform with various artists, and have a career as a singer that I’ve put aside for years to focus on Sabaton. After doing this for seven years, I feel it’s time to start following my heart. This means I will no longer tour with my brothers in Sabaton and will not meet all you lovely Sabaton supporters on the upcoming tours with the band.
I will never quit playing music. I’ll still be touring with Majestica and other projects, but not on the same level as Sabaton, of course. I am sure I will meet you lovely fans on the road again in the future.
My brothers in Sabaton and the best crew in the world will forever be my second family, and I will miss spending time with all these wonderful people. We had so much fun together every day. I’ve come to learn so much about life, about music and about touring that I wouldn’t have learned anywhere else.
A massive thank you to all you lovely Sabaton fans for accepting me as the new guitarist in 2016. I am certain you will accept the person who takes over after me.
All the best to you all and I’ll see you again soon!"

TRIVIUM Frontman MATT HEAFY Shares Multi-Cam Live Footage Of "Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr" From 2023 European TourTrivium frontman Matt Heafy has shared a new video to his official YouTube channel. The clip features live footage of "Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr" performed at an undisclosed location during the band's 2023 European tour.
Bullet For My Valentine recently checked in with the following update:
"We are thrilled to announce that in 2025 we present to you The Poisoned Ascendancy UK Tour, alongside our brothers in Trivium. Both bands will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut albums by playing them in full. Get excited people, it's gonna be special and we can't wait to celebrate with you all."
Trivium, meanwhile, posted the following message:
"Bullet for My Valentine’s The Poison and Trivium’s Ascendancy are two records whose influence can be heard to this day - in the DNA of modern metal. It’s incredible to think of the impact the albums had when they came out in 2005. They were both like bolts of lightning. Both bands grew up independently of each other in different countries and separately from any movement or scene but both shared a common love of melodic heavy metal at the core; and both had similar meteoric rises right out of the gate. Trivium and BFMV were in such whirlwinds when our respective albums came out that we each never truly got to play together or sit back and celebrate during the maelstrom of constant touring, recording and globetrotting. But that’s what this anniversary tour is. It’s a celebration by the bands to the fans of an important era, and most importantly it’s an invitation to fans come and have an epic night with us and sing and rage and celebrate the awesome power of the music. Tickets on-sale next Friday, March 1."

BLACKTOP MOJO - New Single, "I Can't Tell", Out NowBlacktop Mojo has released “I Can’t Tell” - a blues and grunge-inspired, southern twang track that soars high above modern rock with its genius instrumentation and catchy melody. Stream “I Can’t Tell” now at this location.
“I Can’t Tell” follows Blacktop Mojo’s recent release “As The Light Fades”, from earlier this month, and will be followed by a full-length studio album, Pollen, on April 5th.
Blacktop Mojo’s grunge influences shine through in this track, with powerful guitar riffs and their infamous Southern twang style. Producer Philip Mosley referred to it as “Texas Nirvana” for its twangy instrumentation and sludgy undertones. Lyrics demonstrate the talent of writers Matt James and Matt Curtis, while producer Philip Mosley layers in sounds reminiscent of their vast array of grunge and rock influences, along with new sounds unique to the group.
Created by Matt James drawing from his various musical inspirations, “I Can’t Tell” started when he began tinkering with different melodies in the carport of the band’s home. From there, the song quickly became a group favorite from the new album in studio recordings. The song juggles simple acoustics with a climactic chorus, focusing on themes of indecision in love, and the modern dating scene with lyrics like, “I can’t tell if your kiss is heaven, or your love is hell.”
“‘I Can’t Tell’ is about dating in the modern age. Commitment is a hard thing to come by and only getting scarcer. It’s hard to trust anyone, especially yourself,” says Matt James, lead singer of Blacktop Mojo.
With inspirations ranging from Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bill Withers and Stone Temple Pilots. to Bob Seger and Etta James, Blacktop Mojo’s music has elements of heavy rock, grunge, soul, blues, and a little splash of southern twang.
Pollen artwork and tracklisting:

ROB HALFORD Says All The Music Is 'Ready' For His Debut Blues Solo AlbumIn a new interview with Germany's Rock Antenne, Rob Halford spoke about the status of his long-in-the-works debut blues solo album. The JUDAS PRIEST singer is collaborating with the same team that assisted him during the making of his 2019 Christmas LP "Celestial", including his brother Nigel and his nephew Alex (son of PRIEST bassist Ian Hill).
Rob said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "You may have heard occasionally here and there that I've had this ambition at least to make a blues album. Because metal, all rock and roll comes from the blues; everything in music comes from the blues to a great extent. And so, because I'm a blues fan, I've always wanted to explore that territory. And so, going back a few years, my brother and my nephew Alex, Ian Hill's son on bass, and a friend of ours, we did the 'Celestial' Christmas album together. And then, towards the end of those sessions, I said to the guys, 'Why don't we just make a blues album?' Okay, that's a simple idea, isn't it? So we have the music ready, we have all of these songs ready to go, and it's just about timing. Timing and planning is so important in our world, in music. So that's one thing I would really like to do, and when I get the time to do it, I shall do it."
Two years ago, Rob explained the inspiration for his blues album, telling Joe Rock of Long Island, New York's 102.3 WBAB radio station: "I love the blues. Without the blues, we wouldn't have rock and roll. The blues was born here in the United States and then slowly mutated into all these incredible styles and different dynamics and variations. Man, I think back to those originators, like Little Richard, Bill Haley, the anchor of the blues like Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Bessie Smith, all these great people. So I was listening to those great performers as I was growing up as a kid. I love the blues, man. And I think most metal musicians would acknowledge the blues for playing such an important role."
Halford continued: "So, here's the deal. I made a Christmas album with my brother and my nephew and some friends recently called 'Celestial', and while we were there, I was saying to the guys, 'I've got this thing about knocking around some blues ideas.' And that's all the guys needed. So they went away while I've been busy with PRIEST and we put together a substantial amount of material. And when I find time, we're gonna bang it out. I'd love us to play in a room live together, 'cause they're really talented. My brother is a drummer. My nephew is a bass player; he's the son of the great bass god, Ian Hill [of JUDAS PRIEST]. And then we've got J.B. [Jon Blakey] on guitar, who was with us on 'Celestial'. So we're gonna keep it simple. But I'm excited. I've got all the stuff on my phone, like we do — that's a danger — and I listen to it, and I get stoked about the possibility. So it'll happen eventually, I'm sure."
In May 2021, Halford told Kyle Meredith that he already had "enough material to make a [blues] record." He added: "The only thing that I threw at the guys was do what you feel you wanna do in terms of ideas. I did give 'em a list of some of my favorite blues styles and blues performers as a little bit of a template for the guys to bounce off of."
Rob reiterated that his upcoming blues album will be a varied effort covering a host of different styles and sounds. "You could go into one specific area and stay in that place and focus [on that and make] little subtle changes here and there, but much like the 'Celestial' album, I think this effort should just be a little texture of every taste of all these different blues flavors," he explained to Kyle Meredith.
As for how his lyrical approach will be different for his blues album compared to the songs he writes for PRIEST, Halford said: "The blues is the blues. We all feel the blues, but you can have the happy blues as well as the sad blues, and you can have all of these characters in blues. The opportunities for stories for some of them, similar to the PRIEST inventions of fantasy, like the Sentinel or the Painkiller or any of those great characters that were created. You can throw your lyrics wherever you wanna throw them if they're connecting with the music.
"Messages in music are vital, 'cause we like to hear stories that we can relate to or attach ourselves to, in reality or in fantasy," he continued. "So that's gonna be an adventure for me. I love to sit down with a pencil and a piece of paper, 'cause that's how I do it, and just think. I have an idea, and I just throw some bullet words down instantly, and that's how the seeds start to grow."
A few years ago, Rob stated about his interest in making a blues record: "When I first became a musician in my late teens, I started to hear the extraordinary roots of the blues — Bessie Smith, Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters. They gave me the buzz… It's something I want to do because I want to explore what my voice can do in that wonderful world. That's how I learned to do a lot of that soaring, sweeping, and screeching. And also I discovered that I've got a voice that can go in different octaves, directions, and different kinds of projections. It's a combination of a sense of adventure and just being inspired by those guys, those wonderful singers. It's a mixture of everything but mainly a discovery of what the voice can do."
Back in 2015, Halford told Newsday.com that he was interested in recording a blues album and pursuing other non-heavy metal projects because he wanted to find out what his voice can do. He said: "I've always felt that [the blues is] very much a part of my background and musical roots. I don't know what kind of blues album I could do because there are so many different facets [to explore]. Maybe I'll just mix it up. As far as stuff out of the metal world, I'm a fan of people like Michael Bublé and Michael Feinstein. I've always been a fan of [Frank] Sinatra and Tony Bennett and Elvis [Presley]. I'd love to hear what my voice would sound like in that kind of musical mix, with wind instruments, trumpets and sax, piano, just that big-band sound."
Halford credited his vocal versatility and ability to take his voice in "different directions" as the main reason he was "so interested in trying these other opportunities." He said: I think if I had a voice that was different to what it is and was a little more in one focus, maybe I wouldn't be as adventurous about my ideas. But because my voice is able to do those different things, it's instinctive and natural to see what else I can do."
Halford released his autobiography, "Confess", in September 2020 via Hachette Books. 8

PRIEST Feat. Former GHOST Members Release New Single “Just A Game”Priest has released "Just A Game," the second single off of their fourth studio album Dark Pulse set for release on May 31, 2024 via Label Blue Nine.
"Just A Game" is a pulsating rave anthem delving into virtual realms and thrilling encounters. With intoxicating lyrics and a bassline harking back to 80’s EBM, it's a reminder that it's all just a game—but the excitement feels anything but ordinary.
In addition, Priest will be headlining The Neon Chronicles Tour with Julien-K & September Mourning that kicks off on March 26 at Bossanova Ballroom in Portland, Oregon.
Dark Pulse is Priest’s fourth studio album and is produced by Simon Söderberg (ex-Ghost). It’s a dark synth pop album with rave elements and heavy industrial notes.
Heavily inspired by cyberpunk and Goth culture, it dives into the dark and seductive night life that can be found specifically in Berlin. Dark Pulse explores themes like alcohol addiction, surviving narcissism, forbidden love etc. connected to a past flamboyant lifestyle that just won't let go. With a signature blend of eerie synthesizers and pulsating hardware, Priest delves deeper into the shadows of dystopia and human-machine symbiosis.
Priest is a synth band that creates music rooted in the vastness of electronic dreams. The goal of their multifaceted prophecy is to safely guide humanity unto the next evolutionary step – the merging with machines.
The occult techno-pop act from Sweden, containing ex-members from Ghost, will throw you into the neon lights of 80 ́s sci-fi mixed with gothic soundscapes. With several praised global tours and critically acclaimed releases like New Flesh and Body Machine they’ve successfully generated an ever growing fanbase worldwide.
Priest has toured with bands like Nitzer Ebb, Die Krupps, Combichrist, Deathstars and Front Line Assembly among others. Priest is also featured on Cleopatra Records tribute albums for Rammstein, Depeche Mode and The Cure and has remixed tracks for Pure Obsessions & Red Nights, Aux Animaux and Sjöblom.

REX BROWN Is 'Absolutely' Open To Writing New PANTERA MusicIn a new interview with AndrewHaug.com conducted on March 21 at Knotfest Australia in Melbourne, Australia, PANTERA bassist Rex Brown was asked if he is open to writing new music with the reformed version of the band, also featuring fellow surviving member Philip Anselmo (vocals),alongside Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE) on guitar and Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX) on drums. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Oh, absolutely. Yeah, I could tell you more but I'm not going to."
Earlier in the chat, Brown talked about what is has been like to go out and perform as PANTERA to a whole new generation of fans.
"You can't see it on the YouTube. You can't feel that vibe until you actually come to the show," he explained. "And we haven't been doing interviews just for the fact we want people just to come to the show. It's not about anything prior past or present that I wanna talk about today — just the show tonight.
"We're pinching ourselves over these new fans that have never seen this before, and it's a whole another generation that we either didn't know a) that were out there, b) that were still listening to us, and the turnout has just been unbelievable," Rex continued. "Of course, at first you had the naysayers and all that stuff, and as we played gig by gig, it's made us tighter. And I've been trying to rehearse this band as much as I can within schedules, and we'll just go down for no fucking reason and just jam. That's what makes a band tight."
The reformed PANTERA is headlining a number of major festivals across North America, South America and Europe and staging some of its own headline concerts. They are also supporting METALLICA on a massive stadium tour in 2024.
It was first reported in July 2022 that Anselmo and Brown would unite with Wylde and Benante for a world tour under the PANTERA banner.
According to Billboard, the lineup has been given a green light by the estates of Vinnie Paul and Dimebag, as well as Brown, who in 2021 said Wylde wouldn't tour with PANTERA if a reunion were to happen. It's unclear what changed his mind.
Asked how it feels playing those "timeless" songs again, Rex told AndrewHaug.com: "You just said it — they're timeless. So getting to play them again is a… These were a big part of Philip and I's songs too. Of course, respect to the brothers. I think that looking down on us and giving us a big — and they're with us. It's just uncanny. That's the glue. Those guys are hanging around with us.
"Look, I'm not some crazy old man, man. I know that we're here for reasons," Rex added. "And this time he gave us a heavy load, and we have come through in spades. And I'm very proud of Charlie and Zakk and Phillip for stepping up… All of us [were very close back in the day]. We were intertwined. There was a close-knit family of friends — Jerry Cantrell and all those guys, ALICE IN CHAINS. We were all brothers and we all had each other's backs — even as fucked up as we got. We're fine now, I'll put it that way. But it's just such a different time and we're older men and can appreciate this more. And I feel 25 years younger, man. It's just insane."
Addressing complaints from some fans that Brown and Anselmo are going out and touring under the PANTERA name even though Dimebag and Vinnie Paul are not involved, Rex said: "I don't call it anything. I call it PANTERA. The show itself is a celebration of the lives of all four of us. Two are sadly not with us, and we cannot bring them back. God, do I want them back. But that's just not possible. So we're doing the best thing that we can to keep our music alive. And I think they're smiling down and saying, 'You guys are doing all right, man.' And they're with us. And I'm not shittin' you."
Asked what his initial thoughts were when he was first approached about relaunching PANTERA as a touring act, Rex said: "Philip and I talked for several months before. He got on the phone and said, 'Hey, man, you wanna do it? I didn't have — maybe a six-second… not a hesitation, but just to wrap my head around the full gravity of the enormity of it. I went, 'Okay, I've got a couple of questions.' And, man, ever since that call we've worked really, really hard to get this thing going. And we've jumped over a lot of mountains."
Last month, Zakk spoke about the possibility of the reformed lineup of PANTERA making new music during an appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk". Asked if he would be open to working on new material with PANTERA, Zakk responded: "No. I think you would have to call it something else. You know what I mean? PANTERA is those four guys. So, yeah, you can't replace that."
Pressed about whether he would want to do it under an altered name rather than calling it PANTERA, Wylde said: "Yeah. If that was ever a bridge we crossed, we'd have to wait until we get there. But right now, it's just the four of us celebrating what the fellas [from the classic lineup] created."
Zakk went on to say that he was open to making new music with Anselmo, Brown and Benante, provided that it was presented differently than just PANTERA. "Yeah, of course," he said. "I mean, how could you call it PANTERA unless it was just pre-existing material and we were gonna record it — stuff that was in demo state or whatever, and it is songs that the guys wrote. But as far as new songs, it would have to be — you'd call it something else."
Back in January 2023, longtime PANTERA producer Sterling Winfield, who is reportedly one of the people who control PANTERA drummer Vincent "Vinnie Paul" Abbott's estate, told Reckless Rock Radio 89.3 KNON FM about the possibility of the reformed PANTERA recording new music: "It's not unheard of, it's not blasphemous. I will say that it is entirely plausible, it is entirely possible, but at this point in time, I don't know that anybody's looking that far down the road. They've got a world tour to tackle, man, for the next two years, and they are gonna be busy doing that. Now, could it happen? Yes."
Asked if he "would be cool" with Brown, Anselmo, Wylde and Benante making new music together, Sterling said: "It depends, man. Again, it has to be done right, like this whole thing; the whole tour that's happening has to be done properly. And I don't really feel comfortable — if it were to happen, I would not feel comfortable calling it PANTERA. I don't think that would be classy. I'll put it that way. And I'll just leave it at that for now. [But] this lineup could make some very badass music. And the music is all that matters."
In 2016, Vinnie Paul said that he would eventually release music that was planned for DAMAGEPLAN's second album.
The drummer formed DAMAGEPLAN with his brother "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott after PANTERA's split in 2003 and released the debut DAMAGEPLAN album, "New Found Power", a year later.
Vinnie Paul told "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk": "The first [DAMAGEPLAN] record, I think, was pretty diverse. We wanted to do something that didn't sound exactly like PANTERA, and with [the material that was written for] the second record, it was really focused, man. I've got the demos and someday they'll come out. But I really feel like we had turned a corner. We'd been out, the fans had seen us, and they'd accepted the fact that this was our new thing at this point."
Anselmo and Brown spoke about PANTERA's return to the stage during an appearance on the seventeenth episode of "The Metallica Report", the recently launched podcast offering weekly insider updates on all things METALLICA. Philip said: "It's empowering. It is incredibly beautiful, and you feel so much love when you're up there. And if you take it in, it's a great feeling, man. These days, man, that's where me and Rex, you know, we get to dig the shows more."
He continued: "When we were younger, we were at war and when we were on stage; we were just angry and at war, man. Now it's — the songs are there. I can concentrate on singing the fricking songs, number one. Geez, that's a relief for me, man. I don't have to break my fricking body in part anymore."
Anselmo and Brown also talked about Charlie and Zakk being part of the PANTERA team. Philip said: "Them two dudes, so enthusiastic. And they got their damn thing and they got their own damn legacy, both of them, without us. It's an honor to play with them. They're the nicest frickin guys in the world, man. I'm just so... [Laughs] Zakk, he's a crack-up, man. He's a sweetheart. And fricking Charlie, we've known Charlie since '87, man. It's a long time."
Rex chimed in: "The way [Charlie] plays Vinnie's parts is uncanny. I don't think there's any drummer out there that could play the way that Vinnie did. I would close my eyes, because I was trying to get tight, and sometimes if I close my eyes, I can hear a little better; I think I can. And there'd be a tear of joy just coming down, because that was so close to what Vinnie and I used to play. So you have the foundation."
Philip concurred, saying: "The low end sounds so PANTERA, man. It's freaking me out."
When the interviewer suggested that PANTERA in 2023 had Vinnie Paul and Dimebag's "spirit inside it", Philip said: "Only thing I can say is, man, I know for a damn fact Vince and Dime would want us to do this, hands down. They would want the PANTERA brand or the legacy to go on. And I don't know what you believe in, but sometimes, you know, you would like to think that them old fellas are looking down on us, giving us the thumbs-up."
While he was alive, Vinnie Paul had repeatedly dismissed talks of a PANTERA reunion, telling Germany's EMP Rock Invasion in 2014: "People are selfish, man. They want what they want; they don't care what you want. And it's unfortunate that people go, 'Oh, wow, man, they can get Zakk Wylde to jump up there on stage and it's PANTERA again.' No, it's not, you know. It's not that simple. If Eddie Van Halen was to get shot in the head four times next week, would everybody be going, 'Hey, man, Zakk, go play for VAN HALEN. Just call it VAN HALEN.' You see what I'm saying? I mean, it's really selfish for people to think that, and it's stupid. It's not right at all."
He continued: "They call it a reunion for a reason. It's called bringing the original members back to what it was. So there's a lot of these things that they call reunions that aren't really reunions. They've got one dude from the band floating around in them, you know. That's not a true reunion. With PANTERA, it'll never be possible."
He repeated those same sentiments a few months later, telling PlanetMosh in a separate interview: "Without Dimebag Darrell, there is no [PANTERA] reunion. And that's all there is to it. We were a very influential band, and we touched millions and millions of people with that band, but it's over. People really have to come to grips with that, and that's all there is to it. If all of us were still here, then the possibility would truly be there, but since it's not, you know… It's selfish of the fans to want something that they can't have. And they don't ever understand that, and I get it. There's things I want in this world too. You know, people in fucking hell want ice water, but they're not gonna get it."
Up until his passing in June 2018, Vinnie remained on non-speaking terms with Anselmo, whom the drummer indirectly blamed for Dimebag's death.
Vinnie Paul and Dimebag co-founded PANTERA. On December 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by a troubled schizophrenic who believed that the members of PANTERA were stealing his thoughts.
Dimebag's longtime girlfriend Rita Haney in 2011 called on Vinnie and Philip to settle their differences in honor of Dimebag.
Vinnie, who was Dimebag's brother, and Anselmo had not spoken since PANTERA split in 2003. But the relationship got even more acrimonious when Vinnie suggested that some remarks the vocalist had made about Dimebag in print just weeks earlier might have incited Dimebag's killer.
Haney told the producers of "Behind The Music Remastered: Pantera" that she forgave the singer after they found themselves unexpectedly face to face at a concert in California.

FREEDOM Share “This Is Gonna Hurt” SingleWorking class rockers Freedom have shared "This Is Gonna Hurt," the first single off of their upcoming new studio album Stay Free! due out May 17 via Sound Pollution.
About the track, Freedom had this to say:
"Have you ever fallen head over heels in love with something or someone you know is bad for you? The warning signs are there, and there’s this voice in your head saying 'This is gonna hurt.'
"So what do you do? Dive in head first of course.”
Deeply rooted in the working-class rock of the 70’s and 80’s, Freedom brings a sound like no other. With meaningful lyrics, robust power chords, and mighty choruses, Freedom creates soundtracks to the journey of life itself. Sometimes compared to Springsteen or Petty - these Swedish rockers make music meant to follow you through thick and thin, far into those endless summer nights and beyond.
The band's 2021 popular self-titled debut album left an indelible mark on the rock world of Sweden and finally, the second album is upon us. Entitled Stay Free!, the new album is once again produced by Martin “Konie” Ehrencrona (Viagra Boys, Håkan Hellström, Les Big Byrd).
Since they first started in 2019, Freedom has established itself as an amazing live act, filling clubs throughout Sweden with both energy and fans. In 2022 they were even honorably chosen to play at The Hellacopters' official release party at the notorious Hamburger Börs in Stockholm.
The band recently added two new members to the crew: Ola Göransson (Heavy Feather, Stacie Collins) and Matte Gustafsson (In Solitude, Siena Root, Heavy Feather). Their stellar stage presence and experience in heavy roots-rock combine to help make Freedom consistently one of Sweden's strongest live bands.
About the sophomore album, Freedom had this to say:
“Ah, the difficult second album. We are extremely happy, and a bit nervous, to finally have it see the light of day. We knew we wanted to do things a bit differently this time, and when we knew we wanted to work with a label the choice was pretty easy. The good folks at Wild Kingdom/Sound Pollution are friends of ours and have been avid supporters since day one. It’s a bit scary handing your newborn over to someone but with their long experience and deep love for music we feel it’s in pretty good hands.
"Enjoy, and stay free!"

SIX BY SIX Feat. SAXON, SAGA Members Release "Obiliex" Single And Music VideoSiX By SiX, the progressive power trio comprising Ian Crichton (Saga), Nigel Glockler (Saxon) and Robert Berry (3.2), recently announced the release of their sophomore album. Beyond Shadowland will be available via InsideOutMusic on April 26.
The band reconvened in Berry’s own Soundtek Studios in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2023 to bend, shape, hammer and caress their diverse musical talents into 11 impressive new tracks. With this album, they continue to define and build upon their unique melodic space, welding guitar-driven rock, metal and prog into a unique and powerful sonic setting.
Today they launch the album’s second single, and you can watch the video for "Obiliex" below.
Robert Berry comments of the track: “Ian, Nigel and myself discussed if we should take a chance releasing a slower song with one of the most passionate and raw guitar solos ever? Our joint conclusion was….YES! 'Obiliex' has become a favourite of the band, with the beauty of the guitar, the depth of the lyric, the power of its tranquil groove. We hope you enjoy the calm, the depth, the sheer raw energy of the song.”
Ian Crichton comments: “On the new record we kept our style but have written stylistically some quite different tunes. I gave Robert a lot of parts, sections, licks, middle 8's, etc. He added verses, bridges, etc... and vocals! He's a brilliant arranger. Of course, Nigel is a powerhouse. As always, he played great on this record.”
Nigel Glockler adds: “Playing with Ian and Robert is always terrific. Making this album was a productive time. Ultimately, we narrowed things down to eleven tunes. Good ones too! I left the sessions feeling very pleased. I think everybody’s going to be impressed with the new album.”
Robert Berry continues: “I’ve always believed that music has the power to bring people together. This record is a testament to that notion. As always, working with Ian and Nigel on an actual second album was a moving experience for me. Truly special.”
Beyond Shadowland will be available as a Limited CD Digipak, Gatefold 180g Black 2LP (featuring 4 exclusive bonus tracks) & as a Digital Album. Pre-order here.

Finland's POST PULSE Unleash New Single / Video "Taste Of Freedom"Finland's Post Pulse will release their latest creation, Return To The Halls, through Inverse Records on May 31. Watch the brand new music video for "Taste of Freedom" below.
"Taste Of Freedom" is an intense song that discusses the contrast between social norms and the natural human desire to break them. The music video for 'Taste of Freedom' reflects that contrast with high-impact lighting that showcases this contrast visually. The video's director, Joona Mäki, pushed the band to its limit, demanding every ounce of energy from each performance. The result is a powerful visual statement that compliments the song's purpose.
Return To The Halls represents a bold leap for modern death metal, blending its signature intensity with diverse musical influences in all the right ways. It is a testament to Post Pulse's evolutionary journey. It marries aggression and beauty in a way that challenges and captivates listeners.
Sam Roon (bass, synths) "Antti's vision for this record was so inspiring that we decided to break away from seven years of releasing singles and EPs to ensure it would come to life. The music on Return To The Halls is different from anything you may have heard from Post Pulse over the years. Hell, one listen through the new single, 'Taste Of Freedom', will show you that we've got much more to offer the world."

CRYPTOPSY Wins JUNO Award In 'Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year' Category For 'As Gomorrah Burns'CRYPTOPSY was honored in the "Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year" category at this year's Juno Awards (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy Awards).
The 2024 Juno Awards kicked off on Saturday evening (March 23) at the Opening Night Awards in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where 42 trophies were handed out.
To be considered for a nomination at the 2024 Juno Awards, national music release dates had to fall between the eligibility period of September 1, 2022 and November 2, 2023.
This year's "Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year" nominees were as follows:
* CRYPTOPSY - "As Gomorrah Burns"
* DANKO JONES - "Electric Sounds"
* KATAKLYSM - "Goliath"
* KEN MODE - "Void"
* VOIVOD - "Morgöth Tales"
Earlier today, CRYPTOPSY, which has been on the road in Europe with ATHEIST since late February, shared the following statement via social media: "What a killer way to end a tour! We stepped off stage last night in Derby 🇬🇧 to discover that we WON the The JUNO Awards for 'Best Metal Album of the Year'!!! We are beyond excited and thank everyone involved for making this a reality. Massive cheers to DANKO JONES x KATAKLYSM x KEN MODE x VOIVOD for keeping Canada weird with us."
In 2023, VOIVOD won the "Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year" award for "Synchro Anarchy".
CRYPTOPSY's first full-length album in over a decade, "As Gomorrah Burns" arrived last September via Nuclear Blast Records. Vocalist Matt McGachy stated about the LP: "It's an album that we have been crafting for the past five years. A meticulous endeavor that we are proud of. It's the perfect medley of old-school CRYPTOPSY with a few modern twists. We've leaned heavily into the grooves and let some of the riffs breathe just a little more than we have on the past few releases. I'm really stoked about the new era of CRYPTOPSY."
"As Gomorrah Burns" is CRYPTOPSY's first album for Nuclear Blast. The initial sessions for the LP took place in a cabin in the forests of Quebec. McGachy called the horror-like backdrop "surreal," but, as with everything CRYPTOPSY, the songwriting process was expectedly arduous. CRYPTOPSY's Christian Donaldson was the primary motivator behind "As Gomorrah Burns". The guitarist and producer served as taskmaster and advocate, grinding out of his bandmates in McGachy, drummer Flo Mounier and bassist Olivier "Oli" Pinard eight slabs of unadulterated barbarity.
Conceptually, "As Gomorrah Burns" pits the Biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah against the modern-day Internet. McGachy's idea was to show how it's both the birthplace of invention and a cesspool of exploitation. The stories are based on real-life incidences — online stalkers, cults, misinformation, isolation, and intimidation — but ornamented deviously to enhance their potency. CRYPTOPSY commissioned Italian artist Paolo Girardi (POWER TRIP, TEMPLE OF VOID) to complement the old-world lyrical themes. If
As with "The Unspoken King" (2008) and the self-titled (2012),CRYPTOPSY enlisted Donaldson to helm the production, mixing, and mastering of "As Gomorrah Burns". Dom Grimard, of ION DISSONANCE fame, also came into the production fold. McGachy says the time in the studio took much longer than anticipated, but with Donaldson directing and everyone finally in the same room again post-pandemic, CRYPTOPSY were able to capture newfound vigor (and velocity) on "As Gomorrah Burns". Tracks such as "Godless Deceiver", "Ill Ender" and "Praise The Filth" demonstrate Donaldson's death metal mastery.

Watch: DISTURBED Performs 'Don't Tell Me' With HALESTORM's LZZY HALE In Melbourne, AustraliaVideo of DISTURBED performing the "Divisive" album track "Don't Tell Me", featuring a guest appearance by HALESTORM's Lzzy Hale, on March 21 at Knotfest Australia in Melbourne, Australia can be seen below.
A short time later, DISTURBED singer David Draiman shared a couple of backstage and onstage photos of him with Lzzy and he included the following message: "Thanks so much to @officiallzzyhale of @halestormrocks for absolutely nailing @annwilson 's part in #donttellme last night at @knotfestau".
In January, DISTURBED released the Matt Mahurin-directed music video for "Don't Tell Me". The song, an epic emotionally charged duet with HEART's Ann Wilson, marked the first time the band had included a guest feature on an LP.
Regarding how the collaboration with Wilson came about, DISTURBED drummer Mike Wengren told Terrie Carr of WDHA-FM 105.5 FM: "That was always supposed to be the 'power ballad,' per se. And as we were tracking it in the studio, David just threw out the idea, 'Hey, let's do a duet on this song.' We've tossed around the idea before, but there wasn't ever either the right material or the right time. So in this particular case, we kind of said, 'Well, who you've got in mind?' And he didn't even have a list; he just had one person, and that was Ann. It was a no-brainer. 'Hey, let's hit up Ann. Let's see if she'd be into it.' And she was on board right away; we didn't have to convince her."
Mike continued: "[David and Ann] sort of struck up a bit of a friendship, a little bit of a rapport. When [DISTURBED cover version of] 'The Sound Of Silence' came out years back and had its success, she was one of many artists and celebrities that took it up themselves to go on Twitter and praise the song and praise our version of it, which we couldn't have been more honored. Iconic, legendary Ann Wilson thinks that we did a great job with a SIMON & GARFUNKEL cover. That's pretty incredible, a pretty great honor. So when we reached out to her, she was more than willing to jump on board. And she came in and she killed it… And she's super cool and down to earth too, and just incredibly talented. It's such an honor to have her be on our record. And to me, the blending of her voice and David's voice, they really, really work so well together. I'm so proud of David and just so honored to have her a part of our record."
In September 2022, DISTURBED guitarist Dan Donegan, whose divorce inspired "Don't Tell Me", told Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station about the band's collaboration with Wilson: "Early in our career, we wanted to really establish ourselves without having any guests. We didn't really talk about it much, but just [felt], 'This is the band.' Not that we were ever against it, but this far along in our career… We're always pushing ourselves, trying to do stuff that's different musically. And there's so much talent out there and so many people we would love to do collaborations with now or later in our career.
"Ann Wilson had mentioned before — she tweeted about us before," he continued. "A few years back, somebody asked her in an interview or whatever if there's anything new out there, or newer, musically that she's heard that she's fan of, and she mentioned she really loved our version of 'The Sound Of Silence'. And that kind of opened the door to a social media friendship between her and David a bit. And then when we wrote this song, it just seemed like it would lend itself to Ann's voice and then trying to see that merge between her and David's voices together. She jumped on the opportunity. Immediately she responded, and we were, like, 'Holy shit. She just said yes to this.'"
Asked by Meltdown if "Don't Tell Me" is a more mellow track than the standard DISTURBED fare, Dan said: "I can't give it away, but their voices, it's like Fergie and Jesus — a little 'Step Brothers' [2008 movie] quote there… It was a pretty magical moment to be in the room and to hear the two of them harmonize together.
"We tracked David's vocals in Nashville, and we wanted to make it easy and convenient for her, 'cause we were, like, she said yes, she's gonna do it," Donegan continued. "Let's make it as easy as possible on her.' We flew out to California to meet with her. We went into a studio out there for just a couple of hours, and she sang against David's tracks. And he was there kind of going over the harmonies with her and stuff too. So it was kind of a really magical moment to see the two of them working on those harmonies together. It was pretty impressive. And she's such a pro, and she's so damn good. She's a legend. So it was pretty exciting. And it's not like she sits there and jumps on people's albums either, so we take that as a badge of honor to think that there's not many times where somebody as big a legend as she is that she would jump on any album. She doesn't have to, and she chose to be on this one. And she loves the track. And it just came together great."
Released in November 2022, "Divisive" was recorded earlier that year with producer Drew Fulk (MOTIONLESS IN WHITE, LIL PEEP, HIGHLY SUSPECT) in Nashville, Tennessee.
According to Billboard, "Divisive" sold 26,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release, with 22,000 units via album sales.
On the all-format Billboard 200 chart, "Divisive" debuted at No. 13.
DISTURBED has had five No. 1s on the all-genre chart, beginning with "Believe" in 2002.

ELEINE Launch “Promise Of Apocalypse” Visualizer Video And Release Digital 2-Track SingleSwedish symphonic dark metal five-piece Eleine has unveiled a visualizer video for their latest single, “Promise Of Apocalypse.” The song is taken from the band's fourth studio album, We Shall Remain, which was released on July 14, 2023 and supported by many live activities across Europe and North America, while the digital version of the single comes with a previously unheard instrumental version as second track.
Guitarist/vocalist Rikard Ekberg explains its meaning, "Years will pass and you will gain nothing unless you take charge of your own life. 'Promise Of Apocalypse' is about an apocalyptic event of your own life, if you don't change that which consumes you."

GLENN HUGHES To Record New Solo Album In JuneLegendary vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes will enter the studio in June to record the long-awaited follow-up to his 2016 solo album "Resonate".
The 72-year-old Glenn, who just played a couple of shows with his supergroup BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION, confirmed his recording plans in a social media post on Saturday (March 23). He wrote: "Currently at home in Los Angeles, but the road is calling me… Very busy year ahead, touring Europe & the United States, & more continents, announcing soon. Touring until November 25th. It's also time for me to record a GH solo album , to center me, & create new songs.
"New music is vital for me , it is the Healer.
"I will be in Copenhagen in June, recording in the studio.
"It's time for me to release new music in 2025, and play my solo material and retrospective songs of my career live. To be present in the moment, and to stay free, is all I (we) need.
"Sharing good loving vibrations with you all... See you soon. Playing my Orange Amplifiers GH Signature Bass Guitar At every show."
Glenn previously discussed his plans to record a new solo album last October 2023 in an interview with Brazilian music journalist Igor Miranda. At the time, he said: "I am preparing to go in the studio next year, sometime in the summer. I'm preparing the songs in the next couple of months. I have a few ideas, and when I go in the studio, I'll be ready to go."
Asked how "Resonate" has aged for him musically since its release eight years ago, Glenn said: "I love the album. It's one of my favorite albums. I think a lot of people across the world, the rock fans love that album. I was at home writing that album and I went to Copenhagen and I had a really great time making that album. And the next one hopefully will be as strong."
In September 2023, Glenn told the "Iron City Rocks" podcast about where he draws his lyrical inspiration from nowadays: "I don't write about politics. I write about the human condition. I write about how are we feeling, what are we going through, are we going to get through this — you know, acceptance, staying in the present moment. This is the big thing for me. People call it woke, awakening, if you will… For me, it's all about staying present in this moment right now, and I'm writing about that."
"Resonate" was released in November 2016 via Frontiers Music Srl. It featured Glenn's then-live solo band members, Søren Andersen (guitars and co-producer),Pontus Engborg (drums) and Lachy Doley (keyboards),in addition to longtime friend Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS),who joined them in the studio for the opening and closing numbers.
Last year, Hughes launched his solo tour under the banner "Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live – Celebrating The 50th Anniversary Of The Album Burn". Glenn performed DEEP PURPLE's legendary rock album "Burn" and also ran through DEEP PURPLE MKIII and MKIV songs.
Hughes spent key years of his career as the beloved bassist and vocalist of DEEP PURPLE, appearing on the classic albums "Burn", "Stormbringer" and "Come Taste The Band".
Glenn's current solo band features Søren Andersen (guitar),Ash Sheehan (drums) and Bob Fridzema (keyboards).
Hughes, who was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2016 along with fellow DEEP PURPLE members Ritchie Blackmore, David Coverdale, Jon Lord, Rod Evans, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover and Ian Paice, spent more than three years recording and touring as the frontman of the supergroup THE DEAD DAISIES.
Glenn's BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION supergroup with guitarist Joe Bonamassa, drummer Jason Bonham (LED ZEPPELIN) and keyboardist Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, ALICE COOPER, BILLY IDOL) will release its fifth album, "V", in June.
Currently at home in Los Angeles, but the road is calling me…
Very busy year ahead, touring Europe & the United...

THE 69 EYES Release Video For Collaboration With OSCAR-Nominated Songwriter DIANE WARRENFinnish goth 'n' rollers THE 69 EYES have finally unleashed the stunning result of their collaboration with American songwriter Diane Warren. The soulful power ballad titled "Fade To Grey", with music and lyrics by Warren, is out now via Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM). Watch the visualizer video below.
THE 69 EYES frontman Jyrki 69 comments: "The magic of Diane Warren songs, which is often told, is that her songs speak to their performers in a way as if she knew what's going in their live. So does 'Fade To Grey': It sounded like straightly taken from my own personal life when I heard its demo version for the first time!"
The song will additionally be available on a brand new vinyl variant of THE 69 EYES' current album "Death Of Darkness", which will be released in April 26.
Warren, often referred to as "the most important songwriter in the world," wrote an impressive list of timeless hits, collaborating with iconic pop stars like Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga alongside legends such as Cher ("If I Could Turn Back Time"),Celine Dion ("Because You Loved Me") and Whitney Houston. She is also known for her works with rock icons such as AEROSMITH ("I Don't Want To Miss A Thing"),THE CULT ("Painted On My Heart") and Meat Loaf ("I'd Lie For You (And That's The Truth)"). She is a Grammy winner with 15 nominations, has two Golden Globe awards and is a 15-time Oscar nominee who received an "Honorary Oscar" as voted by the Academy's Board of Governors in 2022.
"Fade To Grey" combines Diane's conspicuous artistic signature with the group's trademark soundscapes with both melting into an epic power ballad. This creative collaboration is not only a highlight in music, but also pushes the boundaries of handmade music.
Diane says: "The year before last I walked into a store and saw someone so cool who just epitomized rock 'n' roll. That was Jyrki, the amazing singer from THE 69 EYES. Now here we are with my song with them, 'Fade To Grey', about to be released. I am very excited for everyone to hear it!"
Jyrki 69, THE 69 EYES' charismatic frontman, also shares his excitement about the collaboration: "This was exactly like one of those Hollywood dreams: I was hanging on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills when a lady asked me who I was out of the blue. I got confused, and that's about it. Later on, I realized that the lady was Diane Warren, the ultimately greatest songwriter on earth and writer of my favorite THE CULT song, 'Painted On My Heart'. That was my opportunity to start a musical collaboration with her but I missed my once-in-a-lifetime chance! A year passed by and her hits were following me everywhere. Then I was watching the presentation of the Oscars and she was performing there! I encouraged myself getting in touch with her and here's the result: an epic power ballad called 'Fade To Grey' which this world and THE 69 EYES needed!"
"Fade To Grey" was produced by Erno Laitinen at Inkfish Studios in Helsinki, Finland and mixed by Miles Walker at Westside Studios in Atlanta, Georgia before Björn Engelmann put his finishing touches to the song at Stockholm, Sweden's Cutting Room. The single artwork was created by Marcelo Vasco (SLAYER, KERRY KING, DIMMU BORGIR).
THE 69 EYES earned platinum status with the albums "Blessed Be" (2000) and "Paris Kills" (2022) and not only reached No. 1 of the single and album charts in their home country of Finland, but also plunged the world into a sinful cosmos of love, death, and melancholy, while outliving any other band emerging from the goth hype of the early 2000s. By developing their sound further into sleaze rock on "Devils" (2004) and "Angels" (2007) and not shying away from pitch-black Elvis allusions in singer Jyrki 69's dark voice and unique onstage dance moves, the band has established a worldwide following. Over the course of more than three decades, the band has toured relentlessly throughout Europe, America, Asia, and Australia and released twelve full-length studio albums.
Sprawling across ten lavishly dark, effortlessly cool tracks, THE 69 EYES' "Death Of Darkness" is one of their most flawless and consistent offerings bearing a title that's, of course, both stylish and symbolic, much like the music they create. 2024 is a far cry from the early days of the new millennium when gothic rock bands emerged from every graveyard and Finnish vampires stormed the charts around the world. However, the spirit of a world-class record like "Death Of Darkness", the sheer passion and the enticing mystery, the suspense, and the smirk, are still very much alive.
