Deron Miller (WORLD UNDER BLOOD, ex-CKY) has launched a project on popular fundraising site Kickstarter to help support the recording of his upcoming solo album.

The CD will mark his return to rock music following his departure from CKY earlier this year.

In addition to the album, the project will include a feature-length documentary following the recording process in Los Angeles, California, to be directed by U.K. filmmaker Phil Bowman.

The Kickstarter project page features an as-yet-untitled demo of one of the songs due to appear on the CD.

Former MASTERY drummer Kevan Roy has joined RED LAMB, the band led by former ANTHRAX guitarist Dan Spitz.

RED LAMB's self-titled debut album was released in February via iTunes. The 12-song effort was co-produced by Dave Mustaine (MEGADETH) and Spitz and is described in a press release as "explosive hard rock, pop punk, alternative rock, with a taste of thrash." The CD was mixed by Grammy-nominated producer Johnny K (DISTURBED, 3 DOORS DOWN, DROWNING POOL, MEGADETH) and it features cover artwork by John Lorenzi, who worked on the last three MEGADETH studio albums — 2007's "United Abominations", 2009's "Endgame" and 2011's "TH1RT3EN" — as well as the band's 2007 box set, "Warchest". Grammy Award winner Chris Vrenna (NINE INCH NAILS, MARILYN MANSON) handled all synths and additional programming on the entire CD.

RED LAMB features Spitz (lead guitar, guitar, bass guitar, programming, background vocals, engineering, co-producer) and Don Chaffin (vocals and video productions).

In a recent interview with Metal Insider, Spitz stated about Mustaine's involvement with RED LAMB, "Dave heard what used to be my project [DEUXMONKEY] before RED LAMB and we were just cruising into the studio in one of his crazy cars, I think it was an Aston Martin or something. And he just fell in love with the music, and as a friend offered, 'Can I take this from you and kind of help?' At that point in time, I was wearing 50 hats, so it became quite difficult. It was just a blessing for Dave to say, 'Yeah, absolutely!' and that's where we started. His credit is he's a co-producer; we worked together on taking that material that was already recorded. All the music was done by me and recorded and we edited the music and moved verses and choruses around, shortening songs and got rid of the seven-minute solo if there was one. [laughs] . . . Dave worked with Donnie consistently day in day out on all the vocals. . . And previous to that, via electronic means, meaning e-mail and so forth, me and Dave took all the lyrics that I had written for the CD and we dissected those the same way we dissected the music. And Dave co-wrote every song on the album with me as far as the lyrics go and so that's his role in it. He's the co-writer on every song. So it's a wonderful collaboration."

"Temper Temper", the new single from Welsh metallers BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, will be released on November 25. The band will debut the song live at London, England's Maida Vale studios on October 22 during BBC Radio 1's "Rock Week". The gigs will be hosted by Radio 1 "Rock Show" host Daniel P. Carter and fellow Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe. Also scheduled to play the October 22 event are BRING ME THE HORIZON, WHILE SHE SLEEPS and WE ARE THE OCEAN.

"Temper Temper" comes off BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's as-yet-untitled fourth album, which is due out in early 2013. The CD was once again produced by Don Gilmore (LINKIN PARK, GOOD CHARLOTTE), who worked on the group's last LP, 2010's "Fever", and was mixed by noted engineer Chris Lord-Alge (DEFTONES, NICKELBACK, AVENGED SEVENFOLD).

In a recent interview with South Africa's Voice Of Rock Radio, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE frontman Matt Tuck stated about the band's upcoming album, "For me, it's a huge compliment that [Gilmore] really didn't have much input [this time around], 'cause on the last record he did, and it kind of opened my eyes to write differently and to think about, not slowing things down, but kind of… there's no restraint on screaming and restraint on a million miles an hour. It's not necessary, really. We've kind of done that [already]. So on this record, [he kind of] sat back and let me do it without having much input, which to me, knowing Don, is a huge compliment, 'cause it means I've kind of done it right by my own. So, yeah, we've definitely fucking nailed it on this record. I know it's a long way before coming out and anyone's gonna hear anything, but I've lived with [it] and I know what it is, and trust me, it's good."

Asked about BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's longevity and musical progression over the years, Tuck said, "We've been doing this eight years now and we're still at the top of the game of… we're still at the top of our tree of our style of music. I mean, no one's really kind of tried to take us over. So we have kind of taken the foot off the gas already a little bit with 'Fever', and the album we just recorded, we've actually backed off a little bit again — not because we don't think people don't wanna hear heavy music, we've actually made it heavier by slowing down and less is more. Like METALLICA's 'black album,' you wouldn't necessarily call it a heavy album, but the sound of it is fucking heavy and it's big and it sounds timeless because of that. It's not a million miles an hour — it's big and heavy and loud. We're not trying to make a 'black' album, we're just trying to kind of take that theory of slowing down, putting less technical bits in and concentrating on the vocals and the meat and bones of the song."

Neil in August held a soft opening of his new expanded Tatuado Mexican restaurant and bar at the LVH, formerly the Las Vegas Hilton. Vince in April 2011 completed all of the requirements of his sentence stemming from his DUI case. The sentence ordered him to serve 15 days of jail time, 15 days of house arrest, pay a $585 fine, attend DUI school and attend a victim-impact panel online.

Neil failed three field sobriety tests and had a blood-alcohol level almost three times the legal limit during his June 27, 2010 Las Vegas arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The new supergroup featuring drummer Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER, AVENGED SEVENFOLD), bassist Billy Sheehan (STEVE VAI, DAVID LEE ROTH), guitarist Tony MacAlpine (neo classical-metal style, STEVE VAI) and keyboardist Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, PLANET X, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION) has just released a DVD called "Instrumental Inspirations" containing footage of the four members of the band playing and discuss their influences and their past. In a recent interview with Prog Sphere, Portnoy stated about the new band, "It's a blast. I love Derek; he's a fun guy. I still stand by the fact that I'm not sure if he was ever right for DREAM THEATER. But, that doesn't mean I don't love the guy as a player and person. I really do — I love being with him and I love playing with him and I'm glad to be able to work with him again. And, you know, it's a cool project because obviously it's very much… I think of everything I'm doing it's the most like DREAM THEATER or it's more even like LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT, probably. But you know, it's just me being able to play that kind of music with some amazing musicians. Not only Derek, but, obviously, Billy Sheehan's a dear friend and I've got two different things going with Billy at the moment, and I love working with him; he's one of my favorite bass players of all time. And Tony MacAlpine is an amazing guitar player, so I'm honored to be playing with him as well. It's a great, great lineup and we have a DVD that's gonna come out soon from when we played together back in January and then we have this run of shows coming up in the fall.

Asked if he is going to create some original music with that band, Portnoy replied, "There's no plans for it, but obviously, we are gonna spend months together playing every day, so I'm sure it will inevitably be discussed, and who knows?! I think it could be very, very cool. So, you know, we'll see. I'm sure we'll talk about it."

Portnoy, Sheehan, MacAlpine and Sherinian will play an all-instrumental set consisting of material from each of their solo records and their previous collaborations as well as classic instrumental covers and extended solo spots.

Immediately following the European/Asian trek, the group will play a one-off U.S. show on November 18 at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York City

Portnoy formed the lineup to perfom at two drum events at the NAMM show last January (footage below). Due to overwhelming response, that band has decided to take their show on the road.

"I knew when assembling this lineup that it would be a magical musical experience that would be a blast for us as well as the fans! I can't wait to play again with these tremendous musicians and share the experience with you all at these special shows!" said Portnoy.

Blackened death metal act INFERION has inked a deal with badGod Music, home to a diverse array of underground acts such as brutalists NEVER TO ARISE and avant-garde metal entity TRILLION RED. The band's badGod debut, This Will Decay, will come in early 2013. More details to come.

Former ALICE COOPER guitarist KANE ROBERTS has revealed the front cover of his new CD release, Unsung Radio. It will be available at this weekend's Firefest in Nottingham, England, and will be on sale elsewhere in a few weeks.

Finnish/Dutch symphonic metallers NIGHTWISH have launched their own wine called Imaginaerum, named after the band's latest album and upcoming movie.

Following is an excerpt from an interview with Portnoy conducted by Rolling Stone India when he was out on the road earlier this year with Adrenaline Mob:
Q: What has the experience of starting a full time band from scratch for the first time in over 25 years been like?

Portnoy: "It’s interesting, because Adrenaline Mob is the first thing I’ve had to start up from scratch (since Dream Theater). I’ve done a lot of other projects with TRANSATLANTIC, LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT and OSI, but in all those cases, I could count on the Dream Theater audience, or my audience to be on board. Adrenaline Mob is a completely different genre where we do have to start from scratch, except for maybe a handful of people who are behind it because of my name or Russell (Allen)’s name. It’s exciting and also scary. There are a lot of growing pains, a lot of adjustments, especially for me and John (Moyer). He had a lot of success and comfort with DISTURBED as I did with Dream Theater. Going back to playing clubs and sharing a bus with the crew is something John and I haven’t done is a while. But it’s for the love of this band and this music. We believe in it. The songs are strong, the chemistry is great, and when you see the show, you’ll get it. People who are undecided about the band from the album leave the show getting it and having a great time. The music is not prog, it’s not the most complex, but I feel like I am in one of the strongest bands in the world, of any genre. Russell Allen is monster. Mike Orlando is a total guitar hero. John Moyer is one of the most badass guys up there. I feel like I’m part of an exciting new explosion."

Q: Did your stint with AVENGED SEVENFOLD have anything to do with your decision to join a straight up hard rock/metal band?

Portnoy: "Absolutely, it was my experiences with them that made me realise how much fun I was having and that I needed an outlet in this genre to continue on with after my time with Avenged came to an end. It was so much fun with them and we were touring with STONE SOUR and Disturbed and HELLYEAH, just surrounded by this kind of music that was riff-oriented, song-oriented and I knew that I wanted to explore it further. And it’s not a crazy mixture that doesn’t make sense for me. I’ve always been a hard rock and metal fan. I was the main guy that brought that stuff to Dream Theater. I grew up listening to SABBATH, PRIEST, MAIDEN and MOTÖRHEAD. It’s just that anything heavy I did in the past still had a prog edge to it. This is just music that you can put on and have a good time. You don’t have to sit there with a calculator to enjoy it."

Thrash metallers CANCRENA have announced that they have signed a deal with Logic(il)logic Records for the release of their new album Hidden Depravity, on November 2012. The album will be distributed by Andromeda Dischi.

According to a press release: “Hidden Depravity is a dense concentrate of 90's metal influenced by sludge and southern (PANTERA, TESTAMENT, SEPULTURA, DOPWN and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY are the main reference artists for the band). A solid sound assault made of crushing guitar riffs, massive drumming and a melodic touch, all condensed in 40 minutes of pure energy and strength.”

Fredericksburg, VA’s SAINT DIABLO are currently wrapping up Spanish vocal versions of several songs from their debut
self-titled CD, recently released through Eclipse Records. The band is currently tracking vocals at Darth Fader Studios (Richmond, VA) where Grant Rutledge - who holds engineering credits on past LAMB OF GOD and GWAR albums - will be remixing the songs.

Saint Diablo plan on releasing this mini-LP in early 2013. Vocalist Tito Quinones says, “So far, we’ve got four songs done, and plan on finishing up three more in early November after the shows with IN THIS MOMENT. We might even track a new song that we’ve been playing live lately.”

Saint Diablo will be joining In This Moment as support on tour this October. The eleven dates with In This Moment begin on October 19th in El Paso, TX and come to an end on November 4th in Little Rock, AR.
Saint Diablo vocalist Tito Quinones says, “It's pretty exciting to have In This Moment offer us this opportunity. It's up-lifting to have a band of their talent extend the invitation, and we're stoked to open for them!”

Saint Diablo recently unveiled their music video for the band’s current single, ‘Watch Me Kill’, directed by David Brodsky of MyGoodEye. The video was filmed in Richmond, VA and features hit men, the band performing, and moshing fans that came from far and wide to take part in the filming process. The video can be seen below:

Frontiers Records has set a November 23 European release date for Y&T's new live album, "Live At The Mystic".

Following original bassist Phil Kennemore's untimely passing from lung cancer in early 2011, the band carries on the legacy that is Y&T. With Brad Lang on bass and vocals, Y&T prove their continued strength with "Live At The Mystic", a new double live CD recorded at the legendary Mystic Theatre in Petaluma, California, one of the most popular venues that Y&T play every year.

Y&T singer and lead guitarist Dave Meniketti recalls: "Like all Mystic Theater shows, this particular weekend was special. Having just returned from a near-two-month tour of Europe and the U.K., we were very tight and energized to be playing for our home crowd again."

The two-CD set includes 22 songs recorded over two nights in November 2011, including many tracks never before released on any other live Y&T CD. The amazing heat to the tracks showcases the power of the band as it currently sounds, playing songs from "Facemelter" as well as all the hits and fan favorites. "Songs like 'Dirty Girl', with its extended solo section of John Nymann and myself tearing into a nearly three-minute back-and-forth solo was especially a great performance," says Meniketti. "Also, many of the classic tunes like 'Black Tiger', 'Don't Wanna Lose' and 'Mean Streak' were very well played and show some of the best live performances of these songs we've ever recorded. But I also feel strongly about our more mastered performances from our latest 'Facemelter' CD. The energy and much more refined versions of these songs, now that we've really had some time to hone in the vibe of these tunes, make it that much more special of a live recording."

Sammy Hagar (CHICKENFOOT, VAN HALEN, MONTROSE) was joined by ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell and VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Matt Sorum for a performance of the ALICE IN CHAINS classic "Man In The Box" on Saturday, October 13 at Hagar's Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico as part of Sammy's 65th birthday celebration. ALICE IN CHAINS is currently working on the follow-up to 2009's gold-certified "Black Gives Way To Blue" for a 2013 release.

Hagar is continuing to record and tour with CHICKENFOOT, which also features ex-VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith.

That group has just reissued its gold-selling 2009 self-titled debut as a double-disc set. The new version features bonus live tracks recorded on the group's recent tour behind its sophomore studio effort, "III".
