Florida death metallers MORBID ANGEL have been denied entry to Canada and will be unable to play their two scheduled shows there on September 30 (Montreal) and October 1 (Toronto).

Commented MORBID ANGEL frontman David Vincent: "Regretfully, as much as we wanted to continue the musical onslaught, the Canadian immigration officers at the border had other intentions. Canada is NOT HAPPENING."

MORBID ANGEL has just kicked off a month-long North American tour with support from Sweden's DARK FUNERAL and GRAVE. The headlining run, the band's first in six and half years, runs through October 21 in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Said David Vincent about the group's setlist: "We are playing many songs [on this tour] from 'Altars Of Madness' and 'Covenant'. We have put together a setlist that highlights the diversity of the first four classic MORBID ANGEL albums in a way that celebrates the paradigm shifting creativity that has defined extreme music for decades."

MORBID ANGEL recently announced that it will also play a set of "all-time classic songs" on its upcoming European tour with KREATOR, NILE and FUELED BY FIRE, which kicks off on November 1 in Antwerp, Belgium.

On February 24 (February 28 in North America), Season of Mist released a compilation of remixed tracks from MORBID ANGEL's latest album, "Illud Divinum Insanus". Far from being just revamped versions of the seminal extreme metal band's newest songs, this collection presents the work of 39 artists from the electro / industrial, techno and club scene.

MORBID ANGEL's latest album, "Illud Divinum Insanus", sold around 3,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to enter The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 141. The effort marks MORBID ANGEL's first CD to feature bassist/vocalist David Vincent since 1995's "Domination".

WARBEAST is the Texas-based band featuring RIGOR MORTIS vocalist Bruce Corbitt, Shelby, GAMMACIDE/DEVILFIST bassist Alan Bovee, DEMONSEED drummer Joe Gonzalez, guitarist Bobby Tillotson (a.k.a. "J.R."), and bassist Dré Karst.

The group is currently on the road in the U.S. as the support act for DOWN.

A pair of previously unreleased tracks from WARBEAST — "IT" and "Birth Of A Psycho" — will be made available on a split EP with two songs from the forthcoming solo album from former PANTERA and current DOWN frontman Philip Anselmo. Entitled "War Of The Gargantuas", the EP is scheduled for release on October 9 through Anselmo's Housecore Records.

WARBEAST's recently completed sophomore album, "Destroy", is due in January via Housecore. Shelby told "Japan Nick's Rock And Metal Pandemonium" about the new CD title, "I just had the image of the new album [being] called 'Destroy', 'cause the first one [2010's 'Krush The Enemy'] was crushing to me, and I thought 'Destroy' kind of fit the approach on this one. And the subject matter of [the album's title track] is, when you're a UFC fighter or you're a band like us, and when you hit the stage, your objective is just to destroy all oncoming opposers. So that's kind of what the track's about, and that's kind of our approach live — just to destroy. We like to attack the crowd and get 'em moving, and that's kind of the point of this song."

Bassist Alan Bovee recently left WARBEAST for family reasons.

"Krush The Enemy" was released in the U.S. on April 27, 2010 via Housecore.

BLACK AWAKENING is a cult doom duo from Louisiana featuring former members of GOATWHORE and SUFFER. They are currently in the studio finishing their debut release entitled Cult of the Dying God slated for a October 23rd release on Sonic Horizon Records. The album will be a digital release available on iTunes, AmazonMP3, eMusic, Google Play, Rhapsody, Muve Music, Xbox Live and Bandcamp. A vinyl release is planned for 2013.

Drummer Mike Portnoy (ADRENALINE MOB, ex-DREAM THEATER) has checked in with the following update:

The virtuoso band will play an all-instrumental set consisting of material from each of their solo records and their previous collaborations as well as classic instrumental covers and extended solo spots. Mike Portnoy formed the lineup to perfom at two drum events at the NAMM show last January (footage below). Due to overwhelming response that band has decided to take their show on tour.

"I knew when assembling this lineup that it would be a magical musical experience that would be a blast for us as well as the fans! I can't wait to play again with these tremendous musicians and share the experience with you all at these special shows!" says Portnoy.

Tampa, Florida death metallers RESURRECTION will embark on the "Autumn Anguish" European tour this week. The trek will kick off on October 5 in Prague, Czech Republic nad will wrap on October 20 in Amsterdam.

RESURRECTION's current lineup consists of founding member and guitarist John Astl, drummer Gabriel Lewandowski (EQUINOX, HELLWITCH, ACHERON), vocalist Jon Deloe and bassist Manny Martinez.

The band recently performed a hometown show crowd where they were joined by Rob Barrett (CANNIBAL CORPSE) and Jack Owen (DEICIDE) for a cover of IRON MAIDEN's "The Trooper". Video footage of the performance can be seen below.

RESURRECTION's 2013 plans include the recording of a new full-length album, followed by European and South American tours.

The group is currently in discussions with a few record labels about a new recording contract.

RESURRECTION released its latest album, "Mistaken For Dead", in North America in October 2008 via Locomotive Records. The CD was issued in Europe in July 2008 through Massacre Records.

As reported earlier, BEYOND THE BRIDGE guitar and keyboard player Simon Oberender has passed away. Oberender was also the keyboardist for Amanda Somerville’s band TRILLIUM and worked in the Gate Studios in Wolfsburg as a sound engineer and producer, which included KAMELOT's new album, Silverthorn.
The band has issued the following statement:

"We were, and still are deeply shocked and saddened to learn about the passing of Simon Oberender, guitarist/ keyboardist for Beyond The Bridge and Trillium. Simon was also part of the Kamelot family since he worked with Sascha Paeth on the production of the album (sound engineering) and was one of the voices of the Silverthorn Choir. He was also the mastering engineer for Silverthorn. The picture below shows him at work during choir recording sessions in June at the Gate Studio in Wolfsburg, Germany. Our condolences go out to his family and all at Gate Studios.

Rest in peace Simon, we miss you!"

As reported earlier, BEYOND THE BRIDGE guitar and keyboard player Simon Oberender has passed away. Oberender appeared on several other albums, including AVANTASIA’s 2010 releases The Wicked Symphony and Angel of Babylon, EDGUY’s Age of the Joker (2011), EPICA’s Requiem for the Indifferent’(2012), RHAPSODY OF FIRE’s The Frozen Tears of Angels (2010) and KAMELOT’s Silverthorn, which will be released next month.
Rhapsody's Luca Turilli has issued the following statement: "Today is a very sad day for me. I just received the bad news about my friend SIMON OBERENDER and I am totally shocked. Simon was a wonderful person, young and talented… I remember the days passed together and all the intense emotions shared while recording the last two Rhapsody Of Fire albums at the Gate studios of Wolfsburg… and the last phone conversation of some days ago had with him, friendly and helpful as always… very hard to accept the loss of a musician and a friend with such a great future in front of him. May you rest in peace beloved brother!”

FIREWIND's new album, "Few Against Many", entered the official chart in Greece at No. 42 and in Germany at No. 90. Released in Europe on May 21 via Century Media Records and in North America on May 22 through DisManic, Inc. via eOne Distribution, the CD was mixed by Jason Suecof and Eyal Levi at Audiohammer Studios (TRIVIUM, ALL THAT REMAINS, DEATH ANGEL) in Sanford, Florida.

Produced by Gus, "Few Against Many" was recorded with his longtime bandmates, vocalist Apollo Papathanasio, keyboardist/guitarist Bob Katsionis and bassist Petros Christo, at Valve Studio in Greece as well as the Sweetspot Studios in Sweden and sees the band expanding on its signature melodic sound with some of its most aggressive songs to date. The CD also marks the recording debut of new FIREWIND drummer Johan Nunez (NIGHTRAGE).

HATEBREED is currently headlining the "10 Years Of Perseverance" tour, a United States headline trek commemorating the 10th anniversary of the band's 2002 major-label debut, "Perseverance". The tour features direct support from WHITECHAPEL and special guests ALL SHALL PERISH and DEEZ NUTS.

HATEBREED recently finished recording its new full-length album for an early 2013 release. The CD was produced by the band with assistance from Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD, AVENGED SEVENFOLD) and Chris "Zeuss" Harris (SUICIDE SILENCE, ALL THAT REMAINS, SHADOWS FALL).

Commented HATEBREED guitarist Wayne Lozinak: "It was a great experience working with Zeuss and Josh Wilbur on this one. Every song is heavy, straight and to the point, in keeping with the traditional HATEBREED sound. Can't wait to put some of these songs in the set and start playing them live!"

Added HATEBREED bassist Chris Beattie: "This is the album that HATEBREED fans have been waiting for — catchy, ignorant and full of energy!"

Regarding the musical direction of the new HATEBREED material, vocalist Jamey Jasta told "Maximum Threshold", "We did enough experimenting, I think, on the last record… A lot of people really liked that record and it did gain us a lot of new fans, but on this record, with the 10-year anniversary of [HATEBREED's 2002 album] 'Perseverance' and with Wayne [Lozinak, guitar] being back in the band — this will be his second record with us — it's just fun to kind of keep with the old-school influences. I hear more CRO-MAGS and KILLING TIME and SHEER TERROR and OBITUARY and BOLT THROWER and SLAYER and ENTOMBED and those kind of '80s and '90s influences in there. Which is fun for us, because we emulate the bands that we love. We try to make it our own sound and make it our own style, but at the end of the day, we're just fans of those styles of bands."

After the "Perseverance" tour, HATEBREED will join LAMB OF GOD, IN FLAMES and SYLOSIS on the road this fall from October 30 through November 19.

HATEBREED will headline the Persistence Tour 2013 in Europe in January.

Finland-based epic metallers WINTERSUN will release their second album, Time I, in October via Nuclear Blast, prior to hitting the road in October/November headlining the Heidenfest tour.

Swiss folk metallers ELUVEITIE and Wintersun will co-headline a North American tour this winter. The trek will commemorate Eluveitie’s 10th anniversary as well as serve as Wintersun’s introduction to North American shores. Also included on the tour will be German pagan metal band VARG.

Wintersun’s Jari Mäenpää commented: "We are very excited to tour US and Canada for the first time in November/December. Edmond/Hupogrammos comments on the video: "Finally the first video of Dar De Duh is out. For the setting we chose an old, quite unknown Dacian fortress, placed deep into the Apuseni mountains. The place is surrounded by an unusual forest, called locally 'the forest without a face'. This place was the subject of many mysterious stories of people disappearing into the forest without a trace. Fortunately during the shootings nothing unusual happened. We are very happy with the final result and Costin Chioreanu did a great job. Enough describing; we let you to enjoy it!"
