JEFF SCOTT SOTO: 'Damage Control' Video Released"Damage Control", the new video from the legendary hard rock singer Jeff Scott Soto (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, TALISMAN, JOURNEY), can be seen below.
"Damage Control" is the title track of Soto's new solo album, which was released on March 27 in North America via Frontiers Records.
An extraordinary performer and amazing vocalist, Jeff Scott Soto blasts through these hard-rocking tracks with energy and masters the transition smoothly from heavy rock to a delicate ballad.
For "Damage Control", Jeff has turned to many of his past influences and most requested aspects of his career by blending the art of melodic rock with hard rock.
"I feel 'Damage Control' is more of a return to what my fans would expect to hear from me," says Jeff. "It's a perfect blend of my first two solo albums with Frontiers Records — 'Prism' and 'Lost In The Translation' — but also mixes in some of my favorite moments of my past bands such as TALISMAN and SOUL SIRKUS. It is heavy, AOR, hard rock with loads of great riffs and melodies."
"Damage Control" was recorded in the fall of 2011 and features appearances and writing contributions by Jeff's former and current bandmates, along with many guests, including Jamie Borger and Nalley Påhlsson (TREAT), Casey Grillo (KAMELOT), Joel Hoekstra (NIGHT RANGER) and legendary Y&T founding member Dave Meniketti. Jeff states, "Y&T drummer Mike Vanderhule played drums on a track and suggested I bring Dave on but, as he is a long time friend and one on the 'wish list' of people I would have loved to have, I didn't want to get an excuse that he was too busy or not interested, to my surprise I got neither... he was willing to do it and I was not only grateful but beyond pleased to work with another musical hero!"
"Damage Control" was released in two exclusive configurations; the basic version in CD jewel box includes 11 songs, while the deluxe edition in digipak format has an additional three bonus tracks and a DVD.
CD:
01. Give A Little More
02. Damage Control

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE Performs Brand New Song In Michigan; Video AvailableMassachusetts metallers KILLSWITCH ENGAGE debuted a brand new song, "No End In Sight", this past Friday, July 20 at Ground Zero in Traverse City, Michigan. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below.
In a recent interview with Paige Montgomery from Alternative Revolt Magazine and the Denver Post Reverb, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE frontman Jesse Leach stated about how it feels to be back in the band, "It feels great, man. Surprisngly, [it was] a natural transition. I think the one thing for me was just learning [former KILLSWITCH ENGAGE singer] Howard's [Jones] material, learning how I was gonna, like, live in the songs and make them my own, and once that happened, it feels natural. It almost feels, in a way, that I hadn't left, but it is ten years later and we're all much different people, so it just feels a lot better than it did back then."
Regarding the progress of the songwriting and recording sessions for the band's new album, Jesse said, "We've got two songs completed for our new record and another 12-13 to go that I'm gonna finish up in the fall. . . Thankfully, [they didn't have any vocals done with Howard before I rejoined the group] — it was just music; it had no lyrics, no vocals — Howard hadn't attempted to do anything, so it was a nice, clean slate. [The stuff sounds] fresh, fast, heavy… I couldn't be more stoked to sing on the record. As a matter of fact, once I signed up to do the audition for those guys, they took me back to Adam's [Dutkiewicz, guitar] house and we listened to the record and that totally sold me. When I heard the record, I was like, 'I've gotta sing on this.'"
Leach sang on the band's first self-titled album, which came out in 2000, and on their landmark 2002 Roadrunner debut "Alive Or Just Breathing". Leach left the band in 2002 and was replaced by Howard Jones, but his work on "Alive Or Just Breathing" has always been revered by diehard, longtime KILLSWITCH ENGAGE fans.

HELSTAR To Release '30 Years Of Hel' DVD+2CDTexas-based metal veterans HELSTAR will release "30 Years Of Hel", a DVD containing footage of the band's March 24, 2012 30-year-anniversary hometown show at Warehouse Live in Houston, on August 31 via AFM Records. The DVD+2CD set will include footage of the band performing songs spanning its entire career, including material from the often-overlooked "Multiples Of Black" release. The package will also feature interviews with each bandmember, as well as with the entire group, conducted by "Robb's MetalWorks" and focusing specifically on this milestone.
Robb Chavez of "Robb's MetalWorks" conducted an interview with Larry Barragan, guitarist and co-founding member of HELSTAR, on March 24 at the 30-year-anniversary show. The chat, which can be seen below, covers a variety of topics, including the significance of the 30-year milestone, that evening's 20-song set list, the history of Texas metal and Jackson guitars.
HELSTAR released its latest album, "Glory Of Chaos", in November 2010 via Germany's AFM Records.
Formed in Houston in the early '80s, HELSTAR cut its teeth playing backyard parties and small club gigs. It soon became apparent that HELSTAR had much more to offer then its contemporaries. Combat Records snapped up the band and released HELSTAR's debut, "Burning Star", in 1984. Next came "Remnants of War", followed by HELSTAR's breakthrough album, "A Distant Thunder", in 1988. The success of "A Distant Thunder" ultimately set up HELSTAR's most critically acclaimed album, 1989's "Nosferatu".

THE CHANT: New Song Available For Streaming"The Black Corner", a brand new song from the Finnish atmospheric rock act THE CHANT, can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. The track comes off the band's third album, "A Healing Place", which will be released via Lifeforce Records on the following dates:
August 14: North America + digital
August 17: Germany, Austria, Switzerland
August 20: Europe excluding Finland
August 22: Scandinavia

01. Outlines
02. Spectral Light
03. Riverbed
04. The Black Corner
05. Ocean Speaks
06. Distant Drums
07. My Kin
08. Regret
THE CHANT is a seven-member band from Finland. The current lineup has been existence since 1999, but it took some years and a couple of demo recordings before the group's debut album, "Ghostlines", was released in 2008. It already based on this unique melancholic music full of beautiful melodies and harmonies, THE CHANT have become known for. With "This is The World We Know" (2010), the Finns strengthened their approach of playing atmospheric rock with gothic and progressive influences.
The majority of the songs for "A Healing Place" were recorded by THE CHANT themselves and showcase a band going deeper into an even more complexand layered sound with unexpected twists and an arcane ambience. The Finns take their listeners into a place where they have to fumble ingrey mist, before being able to see all the shades of color. The agonizing sides of life have to be faced, before being able to clean oneself from them. The seemingly positive exterior of "A Healing Place" hides bitter and dismal moods.
With "A Healing Place", the Helsinki-based septet takes a stand as one of Finland's progressive rock bands people have to be aware of. Based on a deeply atmospheric, almost cinematic sound, THE CHANT rely on dreamy guitarmelodies, spherical piano-playing and a remarkable voice. This album full of soundscape-driven, ambitious rock music should please fans of ANATHEMA, PARADISE LOST, KATATONIA, PORCUPINE TREE and A PERFECT CIRCLE.

"Your Desire" comes off CLOUDSCAPE's long-awaited fourth album, "New Era", which will be released in the U.S. on September 11 via Nightmare Records
CLOUDSCAPE is a melodic power metal band with progressive touches from southern Sweden. Fans of both progressive metal, such as EVERGREY, SYMPHONY X, DREAM THEATER, and PAGAN'S MIND, and old-school rock, like AEROSMITH, SCORPIONS, and JOURNEY, are sure to find something enjoyable about CLOUDSCAPE.

WITCHCRAFT: 'It's Not Because Of You' Single Details Revealed"It's Not Because Of You", a brand new song from Swedish doom metal kings WITCHCRAFT, will be made available via the band's Facebook profile on Monday, July 30. The track will released digitally via iTunes as well as on limited seven-inch vinyl on Friday, August 17. The single will also include a special non-album cut called "Take Me With You When You Die". The vinyl version will be issued in at least three different-color versions — black, copper and green — and made available via Nuclear Blast mailorder only.
"It's Not Because Of You" comes off WITCHCRAFT's fourth album, "Legend", which will be released on September 21 via the band's new label home, Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2007's "The Alchemist" was recorded with renowned producer Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (KREATOR, OPETH, AMON AMARTH, PARADISE LOST, KATATONIA) in Örebro, Sweden. The CD marks the recording debut of the band's new members Simon Solomon (guitar), Tom Jondelius (guitar) and Oscar Johansson (drums). Going forward, WITCHCRAFT leader Magnus Pelander will focus on his unique vocals without playing guitar anymore.
"Legend" track listing:
01. Deconstruction
02. Flag Of Fate
03. It's Not Because Of You
04. An Alternative To Freedom
05. Ghosts House
06. White Light Suicide
07. Democracy
08. Dystopia
09. Dead End
Limited digipack + LP bonus track:
10. By Your Definition
Commented Pelander: "A friend of mine had an idea about a cover for 'Legend'. I developed the idea and gave it back to my friend who then passed it on to another friend who happened to be a designer. The designer then pushed it in a new direction. The result is already legendary."
Added bass player Ola Henriksson: "The album cover is meant to reflect the music and I think it does that with its heavy, dark and clean design."
WITCHCRAFT, who formed in 2000 in tribute to band heroes Roky Erickson and Bobby Liebling (PENTAGRAM), create heavy, blues-based rock augmented with touches of psychedelica and late '60s pop flourishes. The quartet's first-class songs reference the darker side of hard rock while remaining surprisingly accessible. Flying largely under the radar of the popular music landscape previously, WITCHCRAFT is a hallowed name in underground circles and has found itself championed by a diverse cross-section of distinguished music adherents including American actor Elijah Wood, who publicly called the band "amazing," and DOWN frontman Philip Anselmo, who in 2009 proudly proclaimed WITCHCRAFT as his "new favorite band."
Recorded 100% pro-tools and digital free at Stockholm's UpandRunning studios with producer Tom Hakava and using only vintage amplification, WITCHCRAFT's latest album, "The Alchemist", showcases a group of musicians at ease with their playing and songwriting. Addictive melodies flow simultaneously with catchy, heavy riffs, while maintaining a relaxed and laid back feel throughout. Among its many highlights, the album features the standout songs "Walk Between the Lines" and "Hey Doctor" as well as the record's plat du jour, the three-part progressive rock odyssey of the title track "The Alchemist".

MACHINE HEAD: 'Inside The Machine' Book Cover Unveiled"Inside The Machine", the first biography of San Francisco Bay Area metallers MACHINE HEAD, is set for worldwide release on October 15 by Omnibus Press. The author, Joel McIver, has previously written books about and in co-operation with artists such as SLAYER, TOOL, MOTÖRHEAD, BLACK SABBATH and many other rock and metal legends, including the bestselling 2004 volume "Justice For All: The Truth About Metallica". The book features a foreword by ex-MACHINE HEAD drummer Chris Kontos, and its cover can be seen below.
McIver told BLABBERMOUTH.NET: "'Inside The Machine' is an unauthorized book, but damn, I'm proud of it. I've interviewed Robb Flynn, Adam Duce, Phil Demmel and Dave McClain so many times over the years that a book had to be written sometime. The story of MACHINE HEAD's rise, fall and rise again is pretty much unprecedented in heavy music, and I've added first-hand detail to the story from interviews with band friends and associates. I've also taken a rather different approach to the band's catalogue. The usual approach that critics take is to dismiss MACHINE HEAD's late-90s and early-00s albums as watered-down nu-metal, which is a long way from the whole truth: if you're looking for a fresh viewpoint, you'll find it here."
The official book description: "Over 17 years and eight albums, heavy metal band MACHINE HEAD have sold millions of units, earned a Grammy nomination and won personal awards from various magazines. The story is a classic 'rise, fall and rise again' scenario — they exploded onto the metal scene in 1994, enjoyed a successful string of albums and then lost their way in the nu-metal era. Now they are in the middle of one of metal's most acclaimed comebacks. Joel McIver has interviewed all the band-members several times and has a unique insight into their rollercoaster story, which includes alcohol addiction, inter-band brawls and therapy, sackings, near-splits and two decades of the heaviest music known to man, delivered all over the world."
For more information, visit www.joelmciver.co.uk.
MACHINE HEAD's new album, "Unto The Locust", sold more than 17,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 22 on The Billboard 200 chart — putting MACHINE HEAD in the Top 25 for the first time in the band's 17-year history.
MACHINE HEAD has consistently averaged more than 100,000 copies sold in the U.S. for each of its seven albums and has shifted double that overseas (accruing several silver records in the U.K.), resulting in cumulative worldwide sales of more than 2.4 million.
MACHINE HEAD's previous CD, "The Blackening", opened with just under 15,000 units back in April 2007 to debut at No. 54 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's 2004 effort, "Through The Ashes Of Empires", premiered with less than 12,000 copies to land at No. 88.

SAILLE Begins Recording New AlbumBelgian melodic black metallers SAILLE have entered Shumcot Studios in Aartrijke, Belgium with producer Reinier Schenk (GORATH, FLESHMOULD) to begin recording their as-yet-untitled new album for a January 2013 release via Code666 Records.
Commented SAILLE keyboard player Dries Gaerdelen: "When creating our new album, I did research on and was inspired by several ancient destruction rituals. The new songs are therefore darker, faster, more aggressive and create a feeling of unease. The lyrics, written by frontman Dennie Grondelaers, explore the history of those death rites. With the drums being recorded a while ago, we’ve all got a 'recording state of mind' and have a feeling we're creating more than just songs. We're looking forward to unleashing our creations on the audience, both on CD and live!"
The artwork for the new SAILLE CD will be created by Polish digital landscape artist Michal Karcz who also developed the band's previous artwork. Mastering will be done by Tom Kvålsvoll, who has worked with 1349, DIMMU BORGIR and KEEP OF KALESSIN.
SAILLE’s debut album, "Irreversible Decay", was released in March 2011 via Code666 Records.

DORO PESCH: Quality Fan-Filmed Video Footage Of ZWARTE CROSS PerformanceQuality fan-filmed video footage of Doro Pesch's July 21 performance at the Zwarte Cross festival in Lichtenvoorde, The Netherlands can be seen below.
Pesch's current touring band consists of the following musicians:
Doro Pesch - Vocals
Luca Princiotta - Guitar
Bas Maas - Guitar
Nick Douglas - Bass
Johnny Dee - Drums
Pesch's new EP, "Raise Your Fist In The Air", will be released on August 3. A full-length album, "Raise Your Fist", will follow in the fall via Nuclear Blast Records.
"Raise Your Fist" was recorded and written in the U.S., Germany, and Scandinavia. Doro says, "'Raise Your Fist In The Air' and 'Victory' will also be available on the forthcoming EP! Both songs have been played live on our last tour and also made last year's Wacken Open Air shake! 'Raise Your Fist In The Air' will also be available in French… which is going to be very interesting. For the diehard fans of German songs like 'Für Immer' ['Forever'], there are two songs in the same vein — sensitive and quite dark 'Human Rights' and the very emotional 'Engel' ['Angel']. There are also a lot of fast songs like 'Little Headbanger' and various fist-pumping ones featuring amazing guests like Gus G. (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIREWIND) on 'Last Man Standing' which fans will for sure dig live. We also have a song that honors the late Ronnie James Dio called 'Hero' and another highlight named 'It Still Hurts' featuring MOTÖRHEAD's Lemmy Kilmister. The cover artwork has once again been created by British artist Geoffrey Gillespie who is a close friend and companion since he made it into the Guinness Book Of World Records for his 'Triumph And Agony' cover as the biggest album cover in the world. Since then, he's done ten covers for us!"
The "Raise Your Fist In The Air" EP will be made available on CD, vinyl and as a digital download.
"Raise Your Fist In The Air" EP track listing:
01. Raise Your Fist In The Air
02. Victory
03. Engel
04. Lève Ton Poing Vers Le Ciel
In a 2011 interview with Canada's XplosiveMetal.com, Pesch spoke about the song "Raise Your Fist In The Air" which she played for the first time at last year's Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany. ""It got great feedback [from the Wacken audience]. . . . It was originally written by a Wacken fan, a metalhead, and then I did my own thing to it. It was actually a diehard Wacken fan who did a demo and sent it to the promoter. He sent it to me and said, 'Hey, how about we make a Wacken anthem and here's an idea from a diehard Wacken fan.' I listened to it and thought, 'Hey, that's great.' Then we worked on it and continued working on it. Just to tell you how that song came about, it was a collaboration with a diehard fan and it was actually really good. Sometimes the fans have the best ideas. It was so dead-on."

Thomas says, "We will play [the BLAZE BAYLEY song 'Soundtrack Of My Life'] along with some other Blaze songs, some WOLFSBANE songs, many IRON MAIDEN songs and, of course, some of my 'Nylon Maiden' arrangements."
Bayley contributed his vocals to a cover version of IRON MAIDEN's "The Clansman" for the "Nylon Maiden" album.
Zwijsen is one of the musicians who backed Bayley on Blaze's most recent European "The King Of Metal" tour.
Bayley's new studio album, "The King Of Metal", was released in March. The CD was recorded at Fear Studio in Ravenna, Italy.
The 49-year-old Bayley, who was born in Birmingham, was the original frontman in WOLFSBANE, but left in 1994 to replace Bruce Dickinson as the lead singer of IRON MAIDEN. 6

Original WHITESNAKE Guitarist Pays Tribute To JON LORDOriginal WHITESNAKE guitarist Bernie Marsden (pictured below) has released the following statement regarding the passing of former DEEP PURPLE keyboardist Jon Lord:
"June and July have been very busy, but all has been brought back to base with the loss of my great friend and colleague Jon Lord on Monday 16th July. Jon Lord was to many millions of people THE keyboard player in the great days of DEEP PURPLE, and so he was. But he was so much more than a musician.
"I first met the great man in 1976; I was auditioning for a gig with his new band PAICE, ASHTON AND LORD. I had seen the demise of PURPLE, attending gigs with both Ritchie [Blackmore] and Tommy Bolin, and so when I received a call from Cozy Powell regarding the new band I went for it. I went to an old cinema in West London, owned by ELP, Manticore. There I was ushered into a waiting room with about a dozen other guitar players, that story is not for this time, but is of interest.
"I entered the heady world of DPO, Jon was waiting in the room, smiling, strong handshake and a grin when he said, 'You do exist then.' I had been rather slow in following Cozy's instructions, ouch! Ian Paice was a few feet away, raised his hand to say hello, Tony Ashton was opposite Jon, two keyboards set up, and one was Jon Lord, now I knew this was going to be different.
"I had been listening to the guitar players going in before me, all pretty much trying to be Ritchie Blackmore, and failing! I thought I was on the right track when we played 'How Long' by Ace, Ian knew the groove, I sang it and Jon said to begin, after a couple of verses Jon stopped the proceedings. He came over to me and asked me to show him the changes in the bridge of the song, the great Jon Lord asking me to show him. I state this to show what a man he was, he could have worked out, probably had already, knew the changes backwards, but by asking me he instilled huge confidence in me.
"I played a lot of rhythm guitar, waiting for a nod from Jon to solo, took my time and tried to be as cool as I could. Bear in mind I am playing with Jon, and Ian Paice, this was quite a definitive moment for me. We played another couple of grooves, Ian came over and introduced himself, and Ashton kissed me on the forehead!
"Jon just smiled, said 'thank you for coming down' and that I would be hearing from them. He asked me if I knew any DEEP PURPLE songs, I thought I was about to lose the gig, I said, 'Not really, I know a bit of 'Dance On The Water'.' He looked me in the eye, 'Smoke On The Water'.' he said, 'Sorry,' I said. They did call the next day.
"Jon Lord, great musician, raconteur, writer, funny, intelligent, gifted, family man, friend for life.
"Love to Vicky, Amy and Sara Lord.
"Rest in peace, my friend."
Jon Lord died on Monday (July 16) at age 71 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Lord, who was known for his keyboard virtuosity and his reinvention of the Hammond B-3 organ sound, co-wrote such PURPLE classics as "Smoke On The Water" and "Child In Time", among others. Lord and drummer Ian Paice were the only original members to last through the band's initial run from 1968 to 1976. He was on board for their 1984 reunion and stayed on through to his 2002 retirement from the band, after which he's worked primarily in the classical field.
Over the course of his career, Lord also worked with the ARTWOODS, FLOWER POT MEN, PAICE, ASHTON AND LORD, WHITESNAKE and good friend and neighbor, George Harrison.

AS I LAY DYING Bassist On RANDY BLYTHE: True Justice Isn't Being Served To Him Right NowBassist Josh Gilbert of San Diego metallers AS I LAY DYING is one of a number of musicians who have come out in support of LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe, who is facing manslaughter charges in the Czech Republic.
Blythe, 41, is accused of causing the fatal injury that occurred at LAMB OF GOD's May 24, 2010 show in Prague. The singer allegedly either pushed or struck a 19-year-old fan named Daniel N. — a guitarist in a local metal band — and that person died almost a month later of bleeding in the brain.
Randy has been charged with causing "bodily harm of the fourth degree, resulting in the death of a fan" and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
Speaking to Superskum.com at the Englewood, Colorado stop of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival on July 8, Gilbert said (see video below), "I feel really bad for Randy, 'cause I personally watched the video [of the alleged incident]. In my opinion, from being in similar situations on stage when a fan wouldn't leave [the stage after making his way up there], sometimes, whether it's the band or security or whoever, you wanna get them off the stage 'cause you have to play and you have to keep yourself safe and do your thing. So I feel really bad for Randy, 'cause I feel like maybe true justice isn't actually being served to him right now. I feel like everyone outside of the Czech Republic right now is scratching their heads at why he's still in prison. He's posted bail. Everyone has seen the videos and it ultimately comes down to [it being] a conflict with the [alleged victim's] family. I'm sure they're looking for someone to blame and it's a really sad situation. But you also can't just interfere with the process of justice like that, in my opinion. Maybe there's something I'm missing, 'cause no law major, but from the way it seems, it seems like he posted bail, and they're using this incident that happened on stage to claim that this guy would be danger to someone on a plane to just come home. I think it's really unfair. It's a really sad situation."
He added, "We all send our thoughts out to Randy, 'cause he's a great guy — we've toured with them a few times. He's a great dude and I hope he gets out as soon as possible."
The cover artwork for AS I LAY DYING's new album, "Awakened", was created by Metastazis with Tiffanie Uldry. Due on September 25 via Metal Blade Records, the CD was produced by Bill Stevenson, who has played drums for both the DESCENDENTS and BLACK FLAG and is one of the most highly renowned producers in rock. His production credits include work on records by RISE AGAINST, NOFX, PROPAGANDHI, THE CASUALTIES, ANTI-FLAG and many more. The album was mixed by Colin Richardson (MACHINE HEAD, NAPALM DEATH, SLIPKNOT). 2

WHITECHAPEL Guitarist: I Want RANDY BLYTHE Out Of JailGuitarist Zach Householder of Knoxville, Tennessee death metallers WHITECHAPEL is one of a number of musicians who have come out in support of LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe, who is facing manslaughter charges in the Czech Republic.
Speaking to Superskum.com at the Englewood, Colorado stop of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival on July 8, Householder said (see video below), "I understand everything about it, as far as… It's a fucking shitty scenario for Randy, and I really hate it. On the other hand, that's somebody's kid, and they lost their kid, and I know why they're upset. [I understand] both sides of the story and it sucks for both of them. I want Randy out of there, 'cause I hate the fact that he's locked up without his friends and family and he's far from home; that could be the worst scenario ever for anybody in a band for that to happen. I want him to get out."
He continued, "Like I said, I understand why the people [in the Czech Republic] are mad. I just hope that they come to a conclusion about that's just obviously… Since Dimebag [late PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott, who was killed while performing in December 2004] was shot, that shit about people getting on stage changed.
"I back [Randy] for what he did. I'm sure he had no intentions of ever hurting the kid to begin with. It's an unfortunate series of events — [that's] what it is — and it just lined up to where Randy got the shit end of the stick right now. I think they're gonna come to a settlement where they know he didn't intend to do it. They would be dumb not to take his side of the story and go, 'We understand you didn't mean to do it. We're just upset because [a family] lost its kid.'
"It's just a crappy situation, man." 1

'Lullaby Renditions Of KISS' Due In AugustRockabye Baby! — which transforms timeless rock songs into beautiful instrumental lullabies — will release "Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions Of Kiss" on August 28.
Album description: "There will never be a better show opener than 'Detroit Rock City'. 'Beth' is the gold standard for power ballads. And 'Rock And Roll All Nite' is the quintessential rock 'n' roll national anthem. Given Rockabye's kid-tested, parent-approved lullaby treatment, these KISS Klassics are as alive as ever — just as thrilling when xylophones and bells replace Ace Frehley's Gibson Les Paul and Gene Simmons' demonic snarl. Except come bedtime, junior won't be able to keep partying into the 'nite;' these lullabies will have him counting a veritable KISS Army of sheep."
"Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions Of Kiss" track listing:
01. Shout It Out Loud
02. Rock and Roll All Nite
03. C'mon and Love Me
04. Calling Dr. Love
05. Deuce
06. Strutter
07. Love Gun
08. Detroit Rock City
09. I Was Made for Lovin' You
10. Sure Know Something
11. Hard Luck Woman
12. Beth
Rockabye Baby! was created by VAN HALEN singer David Lee Roth's sister Lisa Roth in conjunction with CMH Records. The label turns popular rock songs into lullabyes — songs from artists like PEARL JAM, BLACK SABBATH, GUNS N' ROSES, METALLICA and JOURNEY, just to name a few.
"It's more for the parent than the child but it calms the child at the same time," Lisa Roth told Forbes magazine.
She added, "When I knew I'd really hit something right was when I saw an interview of Kirk Hammett of METALLICA talking about playing it for his child, and he said that it works." 1

OPETH Mainman Pays Tribute To JON LORDGuitarist/vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt of Swedish progressive metallers OPETH has released the following statement regarding the passing of former DEEP PURPLE keyboardist Jon Lord:
?"We're very saddened to hear about the passing of the great Jon Lord. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. He's obviously partly responsible for OPETH ever being formed, so we're in massive debt to him.
"Martin Mendez [OPETH bassist] and Martin Axenrot [OPETH drummer] obviously had the pleasure of working with [see video below], and playing with Lord, and both said it was such an amazing experience. He was a sheer musical genius. Axenrot even said that when he'd asked what bpm (beats per minute) a song was supposed to be in. Lord had said, 'Around 140 bpm,' and started clapping his hands in the desired beat. Axenrot checked with his metronome and sure enough, Lord was clapping in exactly 140 bpm!
"Jon Lord. We love you. Your music lives on and your memory will never fade."
RICK WAKEMAN Pays Tribute To JON LORDRick Wakeman, the English keyboard player, composer and songwriter best known as the former keyboardist in the progressive rock band YES, has released the following statement regarding the passing of former DEEP PURPLE/WHITESNAKE keyboardist Jon Lord:
"I first became aware of Jon Lord in the mid-Sixties when 'Hush' was released and I bought the album 'Shades Of Deep Purple', which was an album way ahead of its time. For obvious reasons, I paid special attention to the organ style and sound as it was quite different from how other Hammond players were using the instrument. I became a genuine admirer and fan of Jon that day and remained so with everything he did.
"We became real friends just a few years ago, although we had met on numerous occasions prior to that. We did talks together at music conservatories, we met for lunch and most importantly made music together. We wrote a piece 12 months ago for the Sunflower Jam at the Royal Albert Hall. We wrote this piece together at John Henry's rehearsal studios in London and it was so easy because we had such different styles and because Jon was concentrating heavily on the Hammond and I on synthesizers, the blend was quite magical. The piece was performed just the once and I am told was filmed, although I have never seen the footage.
"We sat in the dressing room which we shared at the Royal Albert Hall and made plans to do an album together. We were both utterly convinced that we could come up with something very special as our styles blended so well together. Our love of classical music and also working that style within that of rock music also completed the bond. We arranged to meet up later that month.
"One week before we were due to meet, Jon called me with the news he was ill. He was very positive and actually said he'd never felt better in his life and so he would beat it however long it took and so to bear with our project which went on hold.
"We spoke a couple of times after that and the last message I got was that he was responding well to his treatment. The news [yesterday] has hurt me like no other loss of a musician I have known. I can only thank him for the legacy he has left us all with his great music, great vision and for his kindness as he was one of the most gentle and kind persons I have ever had the pleasure of being able to call my friend.
"My heart goes out to Vickie, his wife, and all his family."
Jon Lord died yesterday (Monday, July 16) in a U.K. hospital at the age of 71. He suffered a fatal pulmonary embolism at the London Clinic after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Jon was "surrounded by his loving family," a message on his official web site said.
In addition to DEEP PURPLE, Lord played in WHITESNAKE — the band led by ex-PURPLE singer David Coverdale — from 1978 to 1984, having appeared on the albums "Trouble", "Lovehunter", "Ready An' Willing", "Come An' Get It", "Saints & Sinners" and "Slide It In".
Jon Lord is survived by his wife Vickie and two daughters — Amy and Sara. 1

MÖTLEY CRÜE Performs 'Sex' Live For First Time; Video AvailableMÖTLEY CRÜE played its new single, "Sex", live for the first time at the opening show of the band's North American co-headlining tour with KISS — simply dubbed "The Tour" — this past Friday, July 20 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below.
Written when the band was together during their residency in Las Vegas last February, "Sex" is the first studio track from the CRÜE since their June 2008 release of "Saints Of Los Angeles". The song was recorded at MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee's studio called The Atrium in Calabasas, California.
Speaking to VH1 Radio Network's Dave Basner in March, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist and main songwriter Nikki Sixx stated about the band's new track, "It sounds very much like it's off of the first record [1981's 'Too Fast For Love']. And that was definitely on purpose. I've been writing very simple riffs for the last year and focusing on how these riffs would work for Vince [Neil, vocals], basically, and took it in the studio with Tommy and Mick [Mars, guitar] and the thing just came alive."
In an interview with AOL's Noisecreep, Tommy stated about "Sex", "I think Nikki is partially right. It's got a retro CRÜE kind of vibe to it — a simplistic riff. But I also think the song has a modern sound to it. There's some cool analog synths in it and a beat that is really funky and modern. So I guess you can say that it has a retro yet modern sound."
He added, "Overall, I think that 'Sex' sounds like 2012 and that makes me really happy. It turned out killer! Not that I'm not into some retro-sounding stuff, but it is 2012 kids — let's keep it moving. At the end of the day, it's a great summertime song that's going to have everybody screaming along to it on this tour." 1

IZZY STRADLIN Performs With GUNS N' ROSES In Saint-TropezEx-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Izzy Stradlin joined his former band on stage last night (Saturday, July 21) to perform almost a dozen songs during a hastily scheduled concert at a private wedding in Saint-Tropez, France. Izzy and the current lineup of GN'R reportedly played the following tracks: "You're Crazy", "Welcome To The Jungle", "It's So Easy", "Mr. Brownstone", "Used To Love Her", "14 Years", "Dead Flowers", "Nightrain", "Patience", "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" and "Paradise City". Also performed last night — without Stradlin — were the songs "This I Love", "Rocket Queen", "Estranged", "Live And Let Die", "Street Of Dreams", "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Don't Cry".
The Saint-Tropez concert was a last-minute addition to GN'R's itinerary, following the band's performance at Costa De Fuego festival in Benicassim, Spain on Friday and before tonight's gig at Son Fusteret in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
Reports suggest the event was a private wedding for a billionaire and that Bryan Adams was also on hand to perform before GN'R hit the stage.
After last night's show, GUNS N' ROSES guitarist DJ Ashba tweeted, "Just finished playing a private concert in St. Tropez, France. It was great having Izzy back on stage with us."
Fellow GN'R axeman Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal appeared less enthused about the prospect of playing a last-minute concert, tweeting before the show, "Wow. Diverted without info (or gear or clothes or sleep) to play a wedding in France. Yep. Guess it's not *one show left*." He added, "Crew working dangerously nonstop due to added show. Not ok with that..."
Afterwards, Thal tweeted, "That was actually fun as fuck & everybody was so sweet :)"
Stradlin previously performed with GUNS N' ROSES on May 31 at the O2 Arena in London, England.
Both Izzy and GUNS N' ROSES lead singer Axl Rose skipped the band's recent induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Stradlin issued a statement the week before the induction, thanking his bandmates, the Hall Of Fame for "the acknowledgment of our works over the years," and the fans who "have supported GUNS N' ROSES from day one."
Former GUNS N' ROSES bassist Duff McKagan joined Axl Rose on stage for the first time in seventeen years at the band's October 14, 2010 concert in London.
For the Rock Hall induction performance, McKagan, guitarist Slash and drummer Steven Adler were joined by guitarist Gilby Clarke and drummer Matt Sorum for three songs — "Mr. Brownstone", "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Paradise City" — from the band's classic 1987 debut, "Appetite For Destruction". Providing vocals in the absence of Axl Rose was Myles Kennedy, the singer for ALTER BRIDGE and Slash's current solo band.
Sorum played drums for "Mr. Brownstone", while original drummer Adler took over for the other two songs.
