RED FANG Shoots Documentary

RED FANG Shoots Documentary

Portland, Oregon's RED FANG kicked off its highly anticipated European tour yesterday in Gävle, Sweden at the Getaway Rock festival. The trek, which includes numerous festival appearances, runs through August 4 at the Porifestival in Pori, Finland.

RED FANG is completing work on a documentary that was shot by the band's resident director Whitey McConnaghy. Whitey followed the band while they were on the road in Europe with Relapse labelmates BLACK TUSK. This short film is being sponsored by Converse and will be released in the coming months.

Commented RED FANG drummer John Sherman: "Our first European headlining tour was completely amazing. We were totally overwhelmed by the crowd response, sleep deprived, exhausted and stoked. Luckily, our man Whitey was there with his trusty camera to capture it all."

RED FANG performed as part of the inaugural Orion Music + More Festival curated by METALLICA on June 23 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Their entire set was recorded and will be broadcast by SiriusXM's Liquid Metal (Channel 40) tomorrow (Saturday, July 7) at 7:00 p.m. EST.

RED FANG's "Murder The Mountains" CD was recorded with THE DECEMBERISTS' Chris Funk and was mixed by three-time Grammy Award winner Vance Powell (THE WHITE STRIPES, THE RACONTEURS).

RANDY BLYTHE Vigil Organizer Expecting More Than 1,000 Attendees

RANDY BLYTHE Vigil Organizer Expecting More Than 1,000 Attendees

LAMB OF GOD fans have scheduled a vigil for jailed singer Randy Blythe, who is being held on manslaughter charges in the Czech Republic. The informal vigil is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday on Brown's Island in Richmond, Virginia. One of the band's guitarists, Willie Adler, is expected to attend.

"It's a sign of unity," organizer Tommy Streat, a friend of Blythe, told the Richmond Times-Dispatch. "There's been very little mainstream news coverage. Unless there's more awareness, this could be dragged out for a really long time."

Streat told the Richmond Times-Dispatch he initially expected 100 to 150 people to attend, but that based on response to his Facebook post of the event, he now thinks more than 1,000 people could show up.

"I know in my heart of hearts that Randy should not be in jail and the way he helps other people beyond the means most would go," Streat told WWBT, the NBC-affiliated television station for Richmond, Virginia. "I think it's ridiculous that he's in jail and I think we need to get him back on this ground in Richmond. And until he's here, we're gonna be his voice. We're gonna talk. We're gonna get loud. . . Randy's voice has been lost and we're getting it back. If it was Justin Bieber, everybody would be talking about it."

"It's a get-together for all who care to attend to show support for our brother Randy Blythe and to voice our concerns over the travesty of justice that is currently unfolding," Adler wrote on his Facebook page. "I hope to see you all there."

LAMB OF GOD set up a fund to help pay Blythe's legal expenses. A statement on the band's Facebook page reads, in part, "As many of you know, Randy is being held in Czech jail for a crime we believe he did not commit. We are still learning about the legal system there and the situation is fluid. We have retained local legal counsel, have support from the U.S. embassy and we are flying over additional lawyers to try and assure that Randy has the best representation possible. As many of you have pointed out, the simple fact is that the legal fees are adding up very quickly."

WITHIN TEMPTATION: Six Songs Written For Next Album

WITHIN TEMPTATION: Six Songs Written For Next Album

Radio Metal recently conducted an interview with vocalist Sharon Den Adel of Dutch symphonic metallers WITHIN TEMPTATION. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Radio Metal: Will Robert Westerholt [WITHIN TEMPTATION guitarist and father of Sharon's three children] play again live in a few years, when your kids are older?

Sharon Den Adel: Yes, maybe. But talking about Robert, we have a big show in Belgium, on November the 13th, and we'll celebrate 15 years of WITHIN TEMPTATION. Robert will be there, obviously! [laughs] Older members will come, too. We'll show some movies we've made, some parts of the show will be symphonic. We've been around for such a long time, thanks to the fans, of course, so we'll remember with the them all the highlights of these past 15 years.

Radio Metal: Do you think that as Robert writes music at home, this situation can have an impact on the way he writes music?

Sharon Den Adel: No, because he has always been involved in writing songs since the beginning. After the festivals we're doing now, I'll have some time for writing songs for the new album. The same people who have been working on the previous albums will be involved too, like Martijn [Spierenburg, keyboards]. I must say that we've already written six songs, so we're working fast. These six songs will be on the album and are very good. It surprises me, because sometimes it's a real struggle to write new songs, but apparently "The Unforgiving" album is quite inspiring and we'll continue in that direction.

Radio Metal: "The Unforgiving" is a concept album that develops a story based on a comic book. The video clips and your live show is linked to that story. Do you intend to go further in that way of writing albums? For example, have you thought of making a movie, like NIGHTWISH did for "Imaginaerum"?

Sharon Den Adel: We've already made three short movies for our last album and a year ago, we started to write a script for a full-length movie, but we're not sure when we'll release it, because we do not want our album to suffer from this project. Once ready, everybody will know.

DESTRUCTION Frontman Says New Album Will Be

DESTRUCTION Frontman Says New Album Will Be 'Much More Intense' Than 'Day Of Reckoning'

German thrash metal veterans DESTRUCTION will enter the studio at the end of July to begin recording their 30th-anniversary album for a November release via Nuclear Blast Records. Vocalist/bassist Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer states, "[We are] recording the demos for the new album now. Eight songs are written and it feels great... Amazing teamwork so far! [I] can't wait to nail down the new shit in the studio! [Drummer] Vaaver [real name: Wawrzyniec Dramowicz] will make the job of a lifetime. The new record will be much more intense than 'Day Of Reckoning'! And that wasn't a blues album ...haha!"

DESTRUCTION recently completed the North American "30th Year Anniversary Tour" with support from WARBRINGER, VITAL REMAINS (who were alternating each night) and PATHOLOGY.

Inspired by IRON MAIDEN, MERCYFUL FATE, MOTÖRHEAD and VENOM, DESTRUCTION was formed as KNIGHT OF DEMON in 1982. The band's original lineup included vocalist and bassist Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer, drummer Tommy Sandmann, and guitarist Mike Sifringer. They soon changed their name to DESTRUCTION and released a demo titled "Bestial Invasion Of Hell" in 1984.

"Day Of Reckoning", the latest album from DESTRUCTION, sold around 800 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 58 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Day Of Reckoning" was the first album to feature DESTRUCTION's new drummer Vaaver (INDUKTI, ex-UNSUN).

LAMB OF GOD:

LAMB OF GOD: 'We Know That Justice Will Prevail'

Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD have released the following statement:

"First of all, thanks to everyone who has reached out in support of Randy [Blythe, LAMB OF GOD singer] and each of us in this terrible situation. It's noted and very much appreciated.

"We have been keeping our heads down and not speaking out due to the fluid nature of the situation and the constantly changing information that even we receive daily.
Within an hour things can do endless 180s. It's maddening to try and make heads or tails.

"We're taking the time to speak to you as it has been a significant period of time since this situation began and while nothing is immediately clear to any of us, we are not trying to keep anyone in the dark.

"We have reached out and are making use of the resources we have acquired to help our brother, who is still detained in Czech jail.

"In the two years since, we were never notified of anything related to this incident.

"Randy is our brother and we assure you we are all staying very positive for him, working endlessly behind the scenes to provide any and all assistance possible.

"The best we can do is to stay positive and continue to support our friend that we know is innocent.

"We know that justice will prevail and we will continue to do our part to support our friend."

Blythe, 41, is accused of causing the fatal injury that occurred at LAMB OF GOD's May 24, 2010 show in Prague. The singer allegedly either pushed or struck a 19-year-old fan named Daniel N. — a guitarist in a local metal group — and that person died almost a month later of bleeding in the brain.

Randy has been charged with causing "bodily harm of the fourth degree, resulting in the death of a fan" and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Blythe remains in detention at Pankrác Prison in Prague even after Mazer posted 4 million Czech Koruna bail (approximately $200,000), as set by the court last Saturday. But the bail system in the Czech Republic is not as rapid as in the U.S.

Although bail has been posted, the decision to release the singer is still subject to appeal and so it will take some time for the state prosecutor's office to give approval.

AMEN Singer Arrested For DUI; Video Available

AMEN Singer Arrested For DUI; Video Available

According to TMZ.com, AMEN singer Casey Chaos (real name: Karim Chmielinski) was arrested last night for DUI in Studio City, California after he allegedly smashed his SUV into as many as 15 parked cars.

Police say the 46-year-old musician abandoned his car at the scene and went to his nearby home, where he was arrested at around 12:50 a.m.

Casey's blood alcohol level was just above .08, the legal limit in California.

Video footage of Casey's smashed up vehicle and Chaos during his arrest can be seen below.

Casey announced in August 2008 that he was making "much-needed and overdue changes to his lifestyle" and checking himself into Hollywood's Wonderland rehabilitation center.

For over a decade, Chaos claimed, he had been prescribed various meds for pain and treatment of his various health issues. These, combined with grueling touring schedules and heavy drinking while on the road, had worn on Chaos and caused his health and state of mind to deteriorate further.

AMEN's last collection of new studio recordings, "Death Before Musick", was released in 2004 through EatUrMusic — a Columbia Records imprint owned by SYSTEM OF A DOWN guitarist Daron Malakian.

IWRESTLEDABEARONCE Frontwoman Pregnant; Band Secures Replacement For Rest Of WARPED TOUR

IWRESTLEDABEARONCE Frontwoman Pregnant; Band Secures Replacement For Rest Of WARPED TOUR

Guitarist Steven Bradley of IWRESTLEDABEARONCE — the Shreveport, Louisiana quintet now transplanted to Los Angeles, California — has issued the following update:

"The day before our [Vans] Warped Tour show in Dallas, Texas, we had a day off in the [Dallas/Fort Worth] area. Krysta [Cameron, lead vocals] lives there now, so she went home to relax and do some laundry. The next day, we received word from her minutes before our set that she discovered she and her fiancé are expecting a kid and she would not be returning to finish Warped Tour with us. Obviously, this is an insane curveball for everybody, but in typical IWRESTLEDABEARONCE fashion, we will press on. And no matter what happens, Krysta has been our best friend for years and we want her to be happy.

"So what the fuck is the plan then, you ask? Well on literally a few minutes notice, our friend Courtney LaPlante [UNICRON] flew her ass down to meet up with us today so that won't miss a single show of this tour. Courtney is a beast in both the singing and screaming departments and is also an incredibly awesome person. We wouldn't tarnish the years of work that we've put into this band by having somebody half-ass it on stage with us, so please come to a show and give her a high-five and make her feel welcome for doing us this huge favor. It makes it feel even better and more natural since she has been a long-term fan of our band and already knows the material.

"So long story short; Fear not, friends and Bear Fuckers... We will continue to play Warped Tour and we hope that you will continue to support us. Getting to play for and talk to so many of you on a daily basis is honestly what we live for, and we will definitely continue with our plan to high-five everybody on Earth. We will update you with more info soon, including some new tour dates and info on our recently-finished full-length horror/comedy/whatever film 'A Beary Scary Movie'!

"And finally, thank you so much to everybody who has been so supportive of us for all these years and we hope to see you again soon!"

IWRESTLEDABEARONCE's latest album, "Ruining It For Everybody", sold around 5,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 80 on The Billboard 200 chart.

IWRESTLEDABEARONCE's "I'm Gonna Shoot" video can be seen below. The clip features footage from the band's first-ever shows in Mexico, which took place on May 26 in Guadalajara and May 27 in Mexico City.

THE CULT Tour Bus In Crash On Bridge In Croatia

THE CULT Tour Bus In Crash On Bridge In Croatia

The members of THE CULT, currently on tour in Europe, experienced a terrifying crash just before 6:00 a.m. local time earlier this week while in their tour bus traveling from Split, Croatia to Ljubijana, Slovenia.

"I was the only one awake," said the band's vocalist Ian Astbury, who was seated in the bus's front lounge. "All of a sudden, the bus veered violently, hit the guard rail and tipped on a 45-degree angle, then righted itself and came to a halt. The guard rail was the only thing that prevented us from going over an 80-foot drop."

Astbury was thrown into the aisle and suffered injuries to his neck, back and shoulder. The rest of the band and crew were asleep in their bunks, so no one else was badly hurt.

Limping down the highway, the driver was able to get the bus to a service station a few miles up the road. Astbury's injuries were iced and he received pain medication. After some temporary patching up of the bus, the band was able to make it to the venue for that night's show, and played a full concert. But it wasn't until 5:00 a.m. the next morning that their fully-repaired bus arrived to take them on the 20+ hour trip to the next gig.

"No one has had any sleep, so the guys are pretty beat, and we are still in shock, to be honest," admitted Astbury. "You never think something like this is going to happen to you, and it just did."

THE CULT — Astbury, guitarist Billy Duffy, bassist Chris Wyse and drummer John Tempesta — is on tour to support its new release, "Choice Of Weapon", hailed as the band's best work in 20 years. The remainder of THE CULT's European tour dates are below. Following this European trek, THE CULT will kick off leg two of its North American tour.

RIVAL SONS:

RIVAL SONS: 'Head Down' Album Preview (Audio)

Californian blues-rockers RIVAL SONS will release their new album, "Head Down", on September 17 via Earache Records. The CD was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee with Grammy-nominated producer Dave Cobb (JAMIE JOHNSON, SHOOTER JENNINGS) and Grammy-wining engineer Vance Powell (JACK WHITE, THE WHITE STRIPES, KINGS OF LEON). The artwork was created by Jason Holley (JOSH RITTER, RAY LAMONTAGNE) and can be seen below.

"Head Down" track listing:

01. Keep On Swinging (3:59)
02. Wild Animal (3:27)
03. You Want To (4:16)
04. Until the Sun Comes (2:59)
05. Run From Revelation (4:14)
06. Jordan (6:18)
07. All The Way (5:10)
08. The Heist (3:14)
09. Three Fingers (3:17)
10. Nava (2:02)
11. Manifest Destiny Pt. 1 (8:20)
12. Manifest Destiny Pt. 2 (4:25)
13. True (4:44)

An 18-minute audio preview of "Head Down" is available in the YouTube clip below.

Commented RIVAL SONS frontman Jay Buchanan: "We took a lyric from one of the songs that exemplified the process of making the record. 'Head down' comes from the term 'Keep your head down and keep on swinging.' I thought it was fitting and it works perfectly with the album cover."

Added guitarist Scott Holiday: "I began searching for the right artist for our cover on the interwebs, just mulling around, and very quickly came across Jason Holley. I saw a couple of covers that he had done for Josh Ritter and Ray LaMontagne, which I loved. I was immediately taken aback by his aesthetic and style and felt he had a few pieces already done that I would be into using. I sent some of his images over to Jay and he had the same immediate feeling I did… Which is pretty rare. He could have been from anywhere in the world, but he just so happened to live about 30 minutes away from me, so I gave him a ring and we started talking. We sent him the record and discussed ideas that we felt reflected the music and process. He then created an original piece, painted in oil. The end result is pretty symbolic and interesting — something that, in my opinion, reflects the record beautifully."

Holiday previously stated about the musical direction of RIVAL SONS' new album, "Songs were once again written and recorded on the spot, allowing the listener to really peer in and catch a snapshot of the moment, and our immediate instincts. Most songs were captured in a few takes, not to mention plenty of first-takers. Pretty off the cuff and unadulterated. We have never had a wish to be predictable or sedentary with our music, and this record explores and supports that ethos pretty well. In other words, this record is not 'Pressure & Time', but delves into a bunch of other musical ideas and sounds. Much more of a 'long-form' record as a whole. Fist-pumpers, ass-shakers, foot-stompers, air guitaring/bassing/drummers, tear-jerkers, heart-string-pullers, and a few straight-up freakouts."

PARAGON Completes Work On New Album

PARAGON Completes Work On New Album

German power metallers PARAGON have completed work on their new album and are currently seeking a suitable record label to release the effort.

Commented PARAGON bassist Jan Bünning: "Since the 20th of June, we have the mastered mix of our new album and I can just say [producer] Piet Sielck has done an awesome job. To me it sounds like a heavier and more 'life' version of 'Revenge' mixed with the guitar sound of 'Law Of The Blade'. Just perfect!

"Our guitar player Wolle [Wolfgang Tewes] wrote a album full of PARAGON classics and our 'newbie' Jan Bertram shredded a whole bunch of great lead guitar parts. And Buschi [Andreas Babuschkin; vocals] seems to be like wine — he's getting better and better and has delievered the best performance he has ever done."

The track listing for the new PARAGON CD is as follows:

01. Last Day On Earth (intro)
02. Iron Will
03. Tornado
04. Gods Of Thunder
05. Bulletstorm
06. Blood & Iron
07. Blades Of Hell
08. Dynasty
09. Rising From The Black
10. Demon's Lair
11. Secrecy

Adds Bünning: "There will also be a tribute song to a very famous metal band which influenced us very much, but we are not sure if it will not only be a bonus song on special limited edition of the album."

The cover artwork will once again be created by Dirk Illing (SCORPIONS, RUNNING WILD), while the photos will be handled by Stefan Malzkorn (GAMMA RAY, SAXON) and the cover layout will be overseen by Claudia von Bihl (Auburn Records, ACCEPT, ANVIL).

Jan Betram previously played with PARAGON's drummer, Chris Gripp. PARAGON bassist Jan Bünning states, "[Jan] is a longtime PARAGON fan and even wanted to join us a long time ago."

PARAGON 2012 is:

Andreas Babuschkin - Vocals
Wolfgang Tewes - Guitar, Backing Vocals
Jan Bertram - Guitar, Backing Vocals
Jan Bünning - Bass, Backing Vocals
Chris Gripp - Drums, Backing Vocals

PARAGON's last album, "Screenslaves", was released in November 2008 via Massacre Records. The CD was produced by Uwe Lullis (ex-GRAVE DIGGER, REBELLION) at Black Solaris Studio in Frankfurt.

Bünning quit PARAGON after the recording of 2007's "Forgotten Prophecies" because of "musical differences" but rejoined the band in 2009.

LAMB OF GOD Fan Petitions White House To Help Secure RANDY BLYTHE

LAMB OF GOD Fan Petitions White House To Help Secure RANDY BLYTHE's Freedom

A LAMB OF GOD fan from Brandenburg, Kentucky created a petition in an online forum on the White House web site to ease the process of petitioning the government to help the band's frontman, Randy Blythe, who is facing manslaughter charges in the Czech Republic. As of this morning, more than 300 people had signed the petition.

HATE Begins Recording New Album

HATE Begins Recording New Album

Polish extreme metallers HATE have entered Sound Division Studio in Warsaw with Filip "Heinrich" Halucha (VESANIA, DECAPITATED) and Arek "Malta" Malczewski (BEHEMOTH's sound guy) to begin recording their new album, "Solarflesh", for a January 2013 release via Napalm Records.

Commented HATE guitarist/vocalist Adam "ATF Sinner" Buszko: “We are aware that 'Solarflesh' is going to be our sickest, most hypnotic and diverse album up to date — the biggest challenge and definitely new chapter in our career. It’s not just like recording another album… it's a real transition!

"On this album we definitely explore new territories and push the boundaries of this beautiful and sick genre to its absolute limits! The material contains 12 collages. Most of them are insanely fast (270 bpm). Others are groovy, trance-like mantras that seem to haunt you forever. They all have rich background of samples and other elements that make them sound multidimensional. We also have several dark, ambient compositions that seem like complete avantgarde. I've been working on them with Michal Staczkun, the guy who did excellent job on our previous album, 'Erebos'. We are also working on a few songs with Androniki Skoula, a singer from Greece, known for her involvement in the band CHAOSTAR, as well as collaboration with SEPTICFLESH and ROTTING CHRIST. She's adding some 'Hellenic' flair to the songs that makes them even more elaborate."

Check out photos from the studio at this location.

"Solarflesh" will be mixed next month at Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland with producers Slawek and Wojtek Wieslawski (DECAPITATED, VADER).

NAPALM DEATH:

NAPALM DEATH: 'The Wolf I Feed' Video Released

"The Wolf I Feed", the new video from British/American grindcore pioneers NAPALM DEATH, can be seen bleow. The clip was filmed by Tim Fox (TESSERACT, SKINDRED) and incorporates perfectly the meaning of the song.

Commented NAPALM DEATH singer Mark "Barney" Greenway: "This is one of Mitch's [Harris, guitar] lyrics. It is about Armageddon ideology and the way this is used to drive populations sensitive towards religious dogma. When they can fear 'The Great Satan', that is, of course, a very powerful tool. It can be used to propagate everything from racial suspicion and superiority, to wars based around the dogmatic quest for moral purification."

"The Wolf I Feed" comes off NAPALM DEATH's latest album, "Utilitarian" which sold around 2,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD debuted at No. 14 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

NAPALM DEATH's previous album, 2009's "Time Waits For No Slave", opened with around 1,800 units to land at No. 19 on the Heatseekers chart.

"Utilitarian" was released on February 27 in Europe and February 28 in North America via the band's longtime partner, Century Media Records. The cover artwork (see below) perfectly fits the album's theme and was created by the Danish artist Frode Sylthe, who is also responsible for THE HAUNTED's "rEVOLVEr" artwork.
