RUSH: Official 'Headlong Flight' Lyric Video ReleasedLegendary rock band RUSH will herald the release of its new album, "Clockwork Angels", with a new single, "Headlong Flight", landing at rock radio today (Thursday, April 19).
The official lyric video for the single can now be seen below.
"'Headlong Flight' was one of those songs that was a joy to write and record from beginning to end," frontman Geddy Lee says. "Alex [Lifeson] and I had blast jamming in my home studio one day before the second leg of the Time Machine tour, and I did not revisit that jam until a year later. Alex and I assembled the song to be an instrumental and its original title was 'Take That Lampshade Off Yo Head!", but once we saw the lyrics Neil [Peart] had written, I knew that the spirit of the lyrics matched the instrumental perfectly and it was just a matter of making them fit and writing the melodies."
RUSH's first new collection of original material in over five years and their first studio release via Anthem/Roadrunner Records, "Clockwork Angels" will be released on June 12.
The recording of "Clockwork Angels" began in April 2010 with Grammy Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (FOO FIGHTERS, DEFTONES) — who also collaborated with the band on their last studio album, 2007's "Snakes & Arrows". RUSH co-produced both records. The first two songs, "Caravan" and "BU2B", were completed during that first session at Nashville's Blackbird studios and performed nightly during the wildly successful Time Machine Tour, which ran from June 2010 to June 2011. Work on "Clockwork Angels" resumed in the fall of 2011 at Revolution Recording in Toronto after the tour's finale, with additional strings (arranged by David Campbell) recorded at Hollywood's Ocean Way Studios earlier this year. Lyrically, "Clockwork Angels" chronicles a young man's quest across a lavish and colorful world of steampunk and alchemy as he attempts to follow his dreams. The story features lost cities, pirates, anarchists, an exotic carnival, and a rigid Watchmaker who imposes precision on every aspect of daily life. The novelization of "Clockwork Angels" is being written by science fiction writer Kevin J. Anderson in collaboration with RUSH drummer and lyricist Neil Peart.
"Clockwork Angels" track listing:

Rose told The Pulse Of Radio that CALL ME NO ONE has turned into something bigger than he and Lowery first envisioned. "This isn't really a side project. This is another band," he said. "I mean, other people have done it, but I guess that the closest thing we could compare it to is like STONE SOUR to SLIPKNOT, you know. I mean, we're gonna go ahead and do this, then when this runs its course, it should be right on time for SEVENDUST to get back and rolling."
Lowery recently described the sound of CALL ME NO ONE as "kind of NINE INCH NAILS meets FOO FIGHTERS."
SEVENDUST guitarist John Connolly and bassist Vince Hornsby also recently launched a new project, joining forces with CREED/ALTER BRIDGE drummer Scott Phillips in a new outfit called PROJECTED.
PROJECTED has already entered the studio to begin recording its debut disc, to be made available later in the year.
SEVENDUST itself will begin writing its ninth studio effort this summer, with plans for an early 2013 release. SEVENDUST issued its most recent outing, "Cold Day Memory", in April 2010. 1

ANGELUS APATRIDA: 'You Are Next' Video Released"You Are Next", the new video from Spanish thrashers ANGELUS APATRIDA, can be seen below. The track comes off the band's new studio album, "The Call", which will be released on April 30 via Century Media Records. The CD was once again recorded at Ultrasound Studio in Moita, Portugal with producer Daniel Cardoso (ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN, ANATHEMA). The artwork was handled by Gustavo Sazes of Abstrata (ARCH ENEMY, KRISIUN).
Commented the band: "We think that 'The Call' is a record that represents the wide variety of styles and elements in our music extremely well; every song stands alone strong and unique in its own way, making the album a whole piece that needs to be heard completely to get the full idea of the sound of the band. But, if we had to choose one song to represent the whole thing, it would be 'You Are Next', because, both lyrically and musically, it showcases the anger and fury we wanted to put into this album, and also reflects the step forward we feel we have made technically. It's a song that starts slowly and trying to capture the listener before exploding into a furious sonic assault."
"The Call" track listing:
01. You Are Next
02. At The Gates Of Hell
03. Violent Dawn
04. It's Rising!
05. Blood On The Snow
06. Killer Instinct
07. The Hope Is Gone
08. Fresh Pleasure
09. Still Corrupt
10. Reborn
Check out the cover artwork below.
ANGELUS APATRIDA will embark on a European tour with 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, GOATWHORE and HAVOK in early May.
According to a press release, "[ANGELUS APATRIDA] was born in the Spanish town of Albacete in the year 2000 and perfectly combines both the aggression and the melodic edge of classic '80s thrash metal with a breathtaking modern southern fury that results in an impressive blend of rage, attitude and a high level of technical skills, rarely seen with young bands like this."
ANGELUS APATRIDA's band name mixes Spanish and Latin language and can be translated into English as "stateless" or "renegade" angels. Influenced by the early Bay Area thrash metal and NWOBHM scenes and more specifically bands like IRON MAIDEN, MEGADETH, ANTHRAX, OVERKILL, PANTERA, TESTAMENT and ANNIHILATOR, ANGELUS APATRIDA established itself in its homeland with two independent album releases, "Evil Unleashed" (2006) and "Give 'Em War" (2007), as well as countless live appearances at various festivals (Lorca Rock, Alternavigo, Metalway, etc.) and at the clubs in most of the country's larger cities with acts like BARÓN ROJO, DESTRUCTION, SEPULTURA and many more.
ANGELUS APATRIDA is:
David G. Álvarez - Guitar
Guillermo Izquierdo - Vocals, Guitar
Víctor Valera - Drums
José J. Izquierdo - Bass Guitar

BEHEMOTH Frontman Talks Next Album In New Video InterviewOn April 11, Metal Blast conducted an interview with guitarist/vocalist Adam "Nergal" Darski of Polish extreme metal veterans BEHEMOTH at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio. You can now watch the chat below. A couple of excerpts follow.
Metal Blast: Since you have been touring, has there been any chance for the band to come up with new material?
Nergal: Slowly. We want to take our time and not rush ourselves in any way. There are a lot of projects going on. BEHEMOTH is doing a lot of stuff and I am doing things on my own. I am completing a biography right now, and I will be coming up with my own book in October. It's all in Polish already, but we will see later on about doing more translations. There are a lot of things happening, so there is no space for us to just sit and write new material. But, I can tell you that there are at least three or four rough sketches of songs, just ideas. Main riffs, main themes. We will be building around these ideas, so about one-third of the album is underway. We just need to get into the creative mode again and start working on it. No rush. When it's out it's out, and it is going to be fucking supreme.
Metal Blast: This is basically going to be considered as the BEHEMOTH "comeback" album…
Nergal: It looks like it might be the most important album in our career. I don't really want to stretch my ass that much. I want to make the most honest record and I won't be bending to anyone's rules or expectations, including Metal Blade or Nuclear Blast. They never try to give us rules since they have so much trust in what we do. When we are done recording and get the albums in their hands they will say, "This is BEHEMOTH. They have made us. They have educated us." Every next BEHEMOTH album is a surprise and is never the same. The release date will probably be in the middle of 2013. We are going to tour as much as we can since there are more places and territories that we need to go in order to spread our message. Get into the vibe, get into the drill, and get into the chemistry again. The chemistry is already there, which is shown by the Full Of Hate tour with CANNIBAL CORPSE was already great, so I expect nothing less from this one.
Metal Blast: You mention that you want to make an album that is meaningful to you. Do you think that the state of music today has put meaning by the wayside and looked to be made with profits or other ideas in mind?
Nergal: Yeah, you might be right. As I said, we don't want to stress ourselves because the music business and the direction it takes is not as I would like it to be. That means we will be going against the current again and just do as we will and please. Whatever we do is going to be BEHEMOTH, 100%. It is the state of our will and nobody can deny it. I can tell you that we aren't going to come out with a reggae or country album; it's going to be BEHEMOTH, it's going to be extreme. But don't be surprised if people listened to it and said, "Fuck, they did it. It's so amazing." [Laughs] That's what I like to say when I listen to my own music. I love to surprise myself. I hate things that are predictable. I want to surprise myself and surprise other people, as well.
Metal Blast: Yeah, that's definitely what you guys have been doing. The past three albums has been one transformation after another.
Nergal: That's the nature of things. That's the constant transformations. We are just trying to get away from the label, from the definition. The definition is transformation itself, the constant change of things. If you think that way that nothing ever stays the same, every next heartbeat, every next minute, every next experience is different. If you realize that it's so much easier to adapt to changes, let it go, and appreciate them. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge AC/DC fan and I expect AC/DC to be AC/DC, but don't expect BEHEMOTH to put out another "The Apostasy", "Demigod" or "Evangelion" album because that will not happen. 14

SAVAGE CIRCUS Rejoined By Ex-BLIND GUARDIAN Drummer THOMEN STAUCHSAVAGE CIRCUS, the multinational project featuring Jens Karlsson (vocals; PERSUADER) and Emil Norberg (lead guitar; PERSUADER), has issued the following update:
"After quite a while of silence from SAVAGE CIRCUS, we're again ready to drop some news your way.
"Some of you might have thought 2009's 'Of Doom And Death' was the last thing you'd hear from this band but this is simply not the case.
"After some structural changes in the band, we are ready with a new lineup and we are at the moment in the midst of writing new material for the third album wich should be due at the end of this year.
"Anyway, I suppose you are curious about the new lineup, so here goes.
Jens Carlsson - Vocals
Emil Norberg - Guitar
Mi Shuren - Keyboards
Thorsten 'Toto' Hein - Guitar
"And finally on mighty drumming Mr. Thomen Stauch [ex-BLIND GUARDIAN]!
"Yeah, that's right, he's back!
"As written, new stuff is being written as we speak and we should be able to let you guys hear some clips in some months from now and we'll try to keep you updated along the way as we make progress on the new, for-now-untitled album."
IRON SAVIOR mainman Piet Sielck left SAVAGE CIRCUS last year. He explained in a statement, "I am proud of what has been achieved, but I just cannot imagine myself doing songwriting and production more or less completely alone for a third time. This has drained too much energy in the past, which was needed in more important spots. I am not willing to make such a sacrifice again."
SAVAGE CIRCUS's second album, "Of Doom And Death", was released in October 2009 via Dockyard 1 Records.
SAVAGE CIRCUS fired Thomen Stauch in August 2007 due to personal differences.
The band released a DVD, entitled "Live in Atlanta", through Dockyard 1. The live footage was filmed in 2006 at the ProgPower USA VII festival in Atlanta, GA.
SAVAGE CIRCUS issued its debut album, "Dreamland Manor", in North America in March 2006 via Century Media Records. The North American version of the CD, which was released in Europe in August 2005, includes the "Evil Eyes" video. 3

CHEVELLE: 'Hats Off To The Bull' Video Released"Hats Off To The Bull", the new video from the alternative hard rock trio CHEVELLE, can be seen below. The song is the title track of the band's sixth album, "Hats Off To The Bull", which sold 43,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 20 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released on December 6, 2011 via Epic Records.
Last summer, CHEVELLE hunkered down in a Los Angeles studio with producer Joe Barresi (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, COHEED AND CAMBRIA). During the sessions, nothing was off limits, and boundaries were non-existent. Rather than simply subscribing to a tried-and-true formula, they made a conscious effort to incorporate new sounds and textures into their patented airtight anthems. As a result, "Hats Off To The Bull" is one of the group's most infectious and impressive offerings to date.
"We're a melodic hard rock band, but we wanted to expand on what that means. It's really important to be aware of what you've done already,” said drummer and lead singer and songwriter Pete Loeffler's brother Sam Loeffler. “We never want to write the same song twice. Pete writes 300 days a year. Joe encouraged us to try different instruments and techniques and he pushed us to continually play everything until it was right too. There are so many nuances as a result."

SERJ TANKIAN's New Solo Album Gets Release Date"Harakiri", the new studio album from singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, poet and political activist Serj Tankian, will be released July 10 on Reprise Records/Serjical Strike. Look for a teaser video with a snippet of the first single, "Figure It Out", on Serj's web site next week.
"Harakiri", a Japanese word meaning ritual suicide, is the follow-up to 2010's critically acclaimed "Imperfect Harmonies", and the third solo release from the SYSTEM OF A DOWN frontman. As with 2007's "Elect The Dead" and "Imperfect Harmonies", Serj produced "Harakiri" himself at his home studio in Los Angeles. He tried to approach writing a little differently this time around. "I used the Apple iPad as a songwriting instrument to sketch out three of the songs on the record," explains Serj. "We must trick ourselves into writing in different ways to get unexpected results." The album will also feature performances by Serj's touring band, THE F.C.C. — Dan Monti on guitar, Mario Pagliarulo on bass, and Troy Zeigler on drums. Dan Monti is also co-mixing and co-engineering the album with Serj. The album was mastered by Vlado Meller (METALLICA, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, KANYE WEST, BEASTIE BOYS).
Serj reveals each of the songtitles in a statement describing "Harakiri" below. The song names are in order and in bold:
"The Cornucopia of love/hate affairs with Gaia have made us scream 'Figure It Out! CEOs are the disease." Where abusive capitalism's only fate is human/environmental devastation. The Ching Chime, diminutive drama of a gangsta Butterfly revealed that humanity's tears actually outweigh yearly rainfall on the planet.
"We have witnessed Harakiri on a grand scale tearing out the Occupied Tears of victims preyed on by victims turned aggressors creating a Deafening Silence through which we hear a voice plead, 'Forget Me Knot, my child.'
"Reality TV has become the searing indictment of a society best described as the Uneducated Democracy. The daughters of the evolution Weave On with blood dripping down their guilty hands onto the flag as the word republic is replaced by empire."
Much of the new record was written in 2011, which was an incredibly busy year for the diversely talented musician and what Serj describes as "the busiest, most productive year of my life so far." In February, the rock musical "Prometheus Bound", which he composed all of the music for, opened at the Oberon Theater at Harvard in Boston to rave reviews. 2011 also saw Serj release his second poetry book, "Glaring Through Oblivion". He toured with SYSTEM OF A DOWN across three continents, performed with the Opera Orchestra in Yerevan, Armenia, where he also had political meetings with heads of state and hosted non-profit events. He then performed his first ever concert in Lebanon, the place of his birth, with the Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra. When he returned to the U.S., he finished writing four records: a jazz record, an electronic record he wrote with his friend Jimmy Urine of MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE, a full classical symphony called "Orca", and the new solo rock record that he is currently mastering.
"The year 2011 started with a fire. Some kids in Piha, New Zealand were setting off fireworks that landed on my neighbor's property and lit the whole hill on fire. I knew it was going to be a hell of a year and it certainly was," says Tankian. "Within five days of that, reports came out about birds and fish dying in massive numbers globally. The omen was not lost on me. Varied creatures on earth were committing massive hara-kiri (the Japanese term signifying ritualistic suicide.) Do they know something we don't about the coming times or the sustainability of the environment? That is the day I started writing this record."
The symbolism of entire species eradicating themselves on a large scale struck Serj emotionally, and is an underlying theme on the entire record. He took that idea and went to work writing, incorporating all of the experiences of his chaotic year to make a different kind of record. "The record is different than any I've made as a solo artist," he says. "It is much more driving and punk-oriented, with influences ranging from goth to electronic to '80s vibes, dynamically heavy rock to epic melodic songs. Lyrically, it spans the gauntlet of themes from personal, political and philosophical to spiritual, humor and love."
He also tried to approach writing a little differently this time around. "I used the Apple iPad as a songwriting instrument to sketch out three of the songs on the record," he says. "We must trick ourselves into writing in different ways to get unexpected results."

Guitarist JOHN 5 Says He Wants To Make Every Solo Album 'Special'Joe Charupakorn of Premier Guitar recently conducted an interview with ROB ZOMBIE/ex-MARILYN MANSON guitarist John 5. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
Premier Guitar: Is [your new solo album] "God Told Me To" an evolution forward from your previous releases?
John 5: I think it is, because it's half acoustic and half electric. I'm dabbling in some Spanish style music on this one — some different acoustic types of playing like knocking on the guitar and creating rhythms, and using the violin bow. I'm also using the mandolin and all sorts of crazy stuff.
Premier Guitar: What inspired this?
John 5: I've never done it before and I wanted to change it up. I want to make every album special, so people aren't like, "Oh, here's another John 5 album. It's going to be a little country and a little rock." I want to keep them on their toes so they never know what they're going to get.
Premier Guitar: On [your cover of MICHAEL JACKSON's] "Beat It", you pretty much played Eddie Van Halen's solo note-for-note. Why did you do choose to do that?
John 5: "Beat It" is just an iconic piece of music and the solo is also iconic — it's incredible. So, I had to pay tribute to how amazing it is. I think it came out great, I'm really proud of it.
Premier Guitar: After the solo proper, you go into your own solo and it sounds like you made a conscious effort to avoid any signature Eddie Van Halen-isms.
John 5: I wanted to put my style into it. Eddie always said, "Have your own style, have your own thing, and do your own thing." So that's what I did.
Premier Guitar: Speaking of which, you've played and recorded with David Lee Roth before. Have you checked out the new VAN HALEN album, "A Different Kind Of Truth"?
John 5: Yes. It's amazing. I love it so much. I think they did a phenomenal job and they're kicking ass on tour.
Premier Guitar: You got your start as a session player. How did you break into the scene?
John 5: I was just a guitar player around L.A. looking for work and I didn't know what people charged for sessions. I was like, "I guess $100." Meanwhile, people were charging, like, $1,500 a track. So I would do everything for half the price everybody else was doing it for and I would do it in half the time just because I didn't know. And so I got a reputation — everybody was like, "Hey, this guy will do this really cheap and he's really good."
Premier Guitar: You're now an established A-lister. What's the secret to scoring the big gigs at this level? It's safe to assume that anyone called in for a high-profile audition is also a monster guitarist who can play the required parts flawlessly.
John 5: You have to really know the songs. In addition to all the guitar parts, I would learn the keyboard parts and I would practice and practice. I did so much research. I would just be so prepared, it was ridiculous. I would find out what guitars were played for certain gigs and what kind of clothes they wore. Because it wasn't enough to just know the songs. You have to have the look and you have to play the right kind of guitar. If you're going to go audition for THE ALLMAN BROTHERS, you're not going to go up there with crazy makeup on your face.

DEVIL'S TRAIN: 'Sweet Devil's Kiss' Video Released"Sweet Devil's Kiss", the new video from DEVIL'S TRAIN — the band featuring MYSTIC PROPHECY mainman/producer Roberto Dimitri Liapakis Liapakis, STRATOVARIUS drummer Jörg Michael, guitarist Lakis Ragazas, and SYMFONIA/ex-STRATOVARIUS bassist Jari Kainulainen — can be seen below. The song comes off the group's self-titled debut album, which was released on February 17 via earMUSIC/Edel. The CD was recorded at Prophecy and Music Factory studios with the production team of Liapakis and Christian Schmid.
DEVIL'S TRAIN is a project Liapakis had been working on with Greek guitarist Lakis Ragazas for a year and as soon as Michael heard it, he asked to become part of it as the group's drummer.
Commented Liapakis: "I am rock and roll down to my veins and I always had diverse influences in my music, a great part of which are expressed in the music I write with MYSTIC PROPHECY. However, the style of music I have been preparing for DEVIL'S TRAIN with Lakis Ragazas isn't the style that would fit MYSTIC PROPHECY and this is why I decided to initiate a side band. Luckily, other people with whom I have common musical background share my vice for rock 'n' roll and Jörg, as I found out when we toured together [in] January [2010], is one of them."
"Devil's Train" track listing:
01. Fire And Water

SLIPKNOT's '(Sic)nesses' To Receive Blu-Ray ReleaseEagle Rock Entertainment has set a July 31 release date for the Blu-ray version of SLIPKNOT's "(sic)nesses".
Originally released on DVD in September 2010, "(sic)nesses" captures SLIPKNOT's unforgettably electric 2009 headlining performance at Download, where the group brought the venue to its knees with a performance that'll put viewers in the front row, butted up against the barricade, surrounded by thousands of fans losing their minds to their favorite band. Additionally, the DVD features several riveting extras including a 45-minute film, music videos and much more.
It was indeed a year of "firsts" for a band that was a decade-deep into their hard rock superstardom and dominance. Their latest album, 2008's "All Hope is Gone", debuted at #1 on The Billboard 200 chart — the first time in their history. SLIPKNOT embarked on a two-year touring trek that was globally successful, playing to packed houses across continents, including their headlining stint at New York City's legendary Madison Square Garden, which was stacked to the rafters and chronicled by Rolling Stone.
It makes perfect sense that the band, known for their eclectic DVD collection, ranging from multi-camera angle concert documents to arthouse-style films, would release "(sic)nesses", which captures a special performance at Download. All SLIPKNOT shows are memorable, but this one is particularly memorable, as the band blasted through hits from all of their platinum albums. On stage is SLIPKNOT in its most natural state and "(sic)nesses" will put you in the front row.
30 cameras were on hand to capture every possible angle of the band as they motored through their parade of hits; the cameras also caught the fans on tape, as they are just as crucial an element of a SLIPKNOT show as the band members themselves.
Perhaps most importantly, "(sic)nesses" is one of the final major performances for founding member Paul Gray, who tragically passed away in May 2010. While initially unintended, the concert is a testament to the legacy of Gray, where fans can enjoy a lasting glimpse of the bassist doing what he loved most.
Additionally, the DVD also includes a 45-minute behind the scenes documentary created by band percussionist Clown, as well as all four music videos from the "All Hope Is Gone" cycle.
"(sic)nesses" features the following track listing:
01. 742617000027
02. (sic)
03. Eyeless
04. Wait and Bleed
05. Get This
06. Before I Forget

SLASH Presenting Major Series On BBC Radio 2: First Episode Available OnlineThis spring, the U.K.'s biggest radio network, BBC Radio 2, is going rock for six weeks with one of the most iconic guitarists of all time, Slash.
From April 12, rock music legend, solo artist, and former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash presents six episodes of the music that changed his life and inspired him to pick up a Les Paul.
From AC/DC and AEROSMITH to METALLICA and MOTÖRHEAD, Slash presents an hour of heavy riffs, screaming solos, crunching guitars, soaring vocals and some of the most essential hard rock ever recorded. Interspersed with stories of rock 'n' roll decadence, anecdotes from the back of the tour bus and an infectious genuine love of the genre, Slash explains how these artists and songs changed his life and fuelled the soundtrack to his world. Expect to hear classic and rare tracks from LED ZEPPELIN, ROSE TATTOO, DEEP PURPLE, RAINBOW, IRON MAIDEN, QUEEN, MEGADETH, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, tracks from his solo projects, and much, much more.
This is Slash's second stint behind the microphone for BBC Radio 2, having presented a two-hour rock special for the network as part of its Christmas schedule in 2010. Called "Slash's Guitar Heroes", it was a countdown of the VELVET REVOLVER axeman's favorite guitarists of all-time.
In this new series, Slash picks up where he left off, returning to bring the rock back to Radio 2.
The BBC Radio 2 series runs as follows:
April 19 @ 22.03-23.00
April 26 @ 22.03-23.00
May 03 @ 22.03-23.00
May 10 @ 22.03-23.00
May 17 @ 22.03-23.00
Slash's first show was broadcast last Thursday (April 12) and can be streamed at BBC.co.uk.
Listen in throughout the UK on 88 – 91 FM, on SKY (0102), DAB (12B), Freeview (702), Freesat (702), Virgin Media (902), Talk Talk TV (602), UPC Ireland (908) or globally at www.bbc.co.uk/radio2. You can also "listen again" to the shows on the BBC's web site for up to 7 days after each broadcast.

GOJIRA: Audio Sample Of New Album Title TrackA 30-second audio sample of the the title track of "L'Enfant Sauvage", the forthcoming fifth album from French progressive metallers GOJIRA, can be streamed at Amazon.com. Due on June 26 via Roadrunner Records, the CD (the title of which translates to "The Wild Child") features 11 tracks of mind-bending, thunderous metal.
The "L'Enfant Sauvage" title track will be released digitally on April 27.
While they were in New York City recording "L'Enfant Sauvage", GOJIRA shot four short web videos documenting the creative process. Well, now they've assembled those into a single seven-minute mini-movie, and you can see it below.
"When you become a musician, you don't have a boss telling you what to do so you have to be very responsible," GOJIRA singer/guitarist/songwriter Joe Duplantier said, shedding a little light on the title and its meaning. "With freedom comes responsibility, so I'm asking myself, 'What is freedom? What does it mean to me?' 'L'Enfant Sauvage' reflects on that. There's no answer though. There's just life and questions."
A special collector's package of "L'Enfant Sauvage" will feature two bonus tracks and a double-colored vinyl version of the record, along with an exclusive t-shirt.
"L'Enfant Sauvage" track listing:
01. Explosia
02. L’Enfant Sauvage
03. The Axe
04. Liquid Fire
05. The Wild Healer
06. Planned Obsolescence
07. Mouth Of Kala
08. The Gift Of Guilt
09. Pain Is A Master
10. Born In Winter
11. The Fall
GOJIRA recorded its new album at Spin Recording Studios in Long Island City, New York with co-producer Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD).
When asked how the deal with Roadrunner came about, GOJIRA vocalist/guitarist Joseph Duplantier told MetalSucks.net, "We really needed a platform for the band to be promoted and distributed properly. We've been in touch with a lot of labels lately since we finished our contract with Listenable [who released the band's three previous albums]. To go on with Listenable was not an option, even though we had excellent relations with them. We really needed a bigger platform, and Roadrunner offered us an amazing deal. They have been super into the band for years and years. They have been… I would not say 'chasing us,' but… well, I would say 'chasing us,' but they would say 'interested.' . . . We've known [the Roadrunner] guys for years and years — first as metal fans, when we were listening to SEPULTURA and DEATH and all those bands. I remember buying a CD because the Roadrunner logo was on it. It was a sign of quality. And we've known those guys for a couple of years. We've known [Senior Vice President of A&R] Monte Conner and [U.K. General Manager] Mark Palmer. They expressed how enthusiastic they were about our music in a very intelligent way. They really get what we're trying to do, so we signed with them."
Regarding the musical direction of the new GOJIRA material, Duplantier said, "It's more mature . . . There's less bullshit. [laughs] There's more intensity and simplicity at the same time. Drum-wise, for example, Mario [Duplantier] has been serving the music, but with a lot more of his experience in the drumming, and a lot of reflection in the work. His drum fills, for example, are be simpler, yet more technical. For a real drummer to hear [what he's doing], they'll go, 'Holy shit, man. What did you do?' For someone who is not into drumming, they'll go through the song and say, 'Wow, cool.' There's more technique and more experience." He continued, "Personally, I had a vision of this album, with what I would like to see happening. I was imagining something very organic and very deep, with more natural sounds. Music-wise, it's something like a dream and a storm… it's magical. I had this vision with colors, sounds and shapes in my mind. I almost dreamed about it. 'Wow, I feel like this album is going to be like that.' But I didn't know."
On the topic of GOJIRA's collaboration with Wilbur, Joseph said, "We were in touch with several producers in Los Angeles. We didn't know yet if we would use a producer for the first time or not. We mostly wanted to have advice on sound. We usually do everything ourselves. I produced the last album. I was following the whole process: mixing and making sure that the vision of the band was respected in the studio. This time, we wanted to have more help from someone with more experience with producing. It couldn't happen with a bunch of guys in Los Angeles and other places. No one was available. There were a lot of people who said that they wanted to do it, but it didn't work out. At one point, I said, 'Fuck it, I'm going to produce it.' Mario was like, 'Yeah, I like this idea. I like that we can be free to do whatever we want to do.' Not that it would be the opposite with a producer. There are tons of ways to work with a producer. It could just be someone who brings amazing advice, who looks at you and how you play and says, 'Maybe you should try that amp. Maybe you should jam more, because that riff could be a little stronger.' I said that I didn't want to go to Los Angeles because I wanted to go to New York because I loved this city since I was a kid. . . So I decided to find a studio and an engineer or co-producer/mixer or whatever to put the thing together. That's what I did a month and a half ago when I came here. The first studio I visited was here, Spin Studios. The guys are super nice. I'm alone, and I'm like, 'Hey, I'm looking for a studio.' 'Who are you?' 'I'm from that French band GOJIRA.' I visited this one first, and Josh was in this room mixing the new LAMB OF GOD ['Resolution']. I was like, 'Hey, what's up?' He was like, 'Hi, my name is Josh.' I didn't know him, never heard of him before. He played some songs from LAMB OF GOD because he was mixing it, and then I asked him to play the drums dry without any reverb or anything, to hear how the drum room sounds here — because that's the most important thing on the record. And it sounded amazing. He taught me some tricks, like what microphones to use and this and that. He's young and full of energy. He was bouncing on his chair when he was playing the songs. I was like, 'Wow.' I was listening on the headphones and on the speakers, and it just sounded exactly the way I was imagining the next GOJIRA. We're not so far from LAMB OF GOD, but far enough that we're different genres. So I felt the potential of the studio and of Josh. I called Mario and said, 'I met this young guy and he's full of energy and he's working on LAMB OF GOD.' Mario said, 'Fuck yeah, let's go!' So we're co-producing this album — Josh and I."
GOJIRA is comprised of vocalist/guitarist Joe Duplantier, who has a previous relationship with Roadrunner, having played bass on CAVALERA CONSPIRACY's debut "Inflikted", along with guitarist Christian Andreu, bassist Jean-Michel Labadie and drummer Mario Duplantier, who is also Joe's brother!
It was 2005's "From Mars to Sirius" and 2008's "The Way of All Flesh" which established GOJIRA as a metal force of nature and a key player in the scene. 2

JORN - enthüllen \'Bring Heavy Rock To The Land\' Track List!Sänger Jorn Lande (MASTERPLAN, AVANTASIA) wird sein neues Album mit dem Titel "Bring Heavy Rock To The Land" am 1. Juni 2012 via Frontiers Records veröffentlichen. Zurzeit arbeite JORN mit Produzent Thomas Tjäder (PRETTY MAIDS, IN FLAMES) an einem Video zum Titel Song "Bring Heavy Rock To The Land"!
"Bring Heavy Rock To The Land" Track List:
01. My Road
02. Bring Heavy Rock To The Land
03. A Thousand Cuts
04. Ride Like The Wind
05. Chains Around You
06. The World I See
07. Time To Be King
08. Ride To The Guns
09. Black Morning
10. I Came To Rock
11. Live And Let Fly (Bonus Track)
Following a three-year silence since the release of "Spirit Black", Jorn unleashes upon the world yet another slab of classic hard rock with metal elements.
"I think this album follows a similar Jorn tradition like those before, more heavy rock oriented than metal," says Jorn. "But, as usual, it's not one musical expression all the way through the album, but a variety of musical landscapes within the categories of rock and metal."
A winning formula should not change, so Jorn has again worked with Tommy Hansen at Jailhouse Studios in Denmark, who mixed the album, ensuring the right edge to the rich guitar and vocal sound that is now trademark to all JORN releases. The lineup sees the return of Jimmy Iversen on guitar who also appeared on "Spirit Black". The pairing with Tore Moren works really well and gives Jorn's sound the usual depth and solidity.
As usual, in addition to the original material, Jorn offers some interesting covers. This time, MASTERPLAN's "Time to Be King" and Christopher Cross' "Ride Like The Wind" are the ones to get the Jorn treatment.
"When we wrote 'Time To Be King', I heard a different and more rock-oriented arrangement in my mind," says Jorn, "so after the MASTERPLAN album was released, I couldn't stop thinking about how it would sound if it was recorded with this other arrangement. I don't know which one's better, I have ended up liking both versions. As for Christopher Cross, I have always loved 'West Coast'-oriented music and bands like 10CC, PAGES, SANTANA, LITTLE RIVER BAND, EAGLES and so on. So I thought 'Ride Like The Wind' would be a good song to do Jorn style. SAXON also released a version of this song in the '80s, and the arrangement we made ended up beeing a mix between the original version and SAXON's. It's also a fun song to sing and play."
Jorn Lande's strong and diverse voice and solid songwriting skills have now become legendary in the hard rock world. In a career spanning over close to 40 album releases, as frontman for ARK and MASTERPLAN, in addition to featuring on spectacular projects such as NOSTRADAMUS "The Rock Opera", BEYOND TWILIGHT "The Devil's Hall of Fame", Tobias Sammet's AVANTASIA and AYREON.
"If you buy a Jorn album today, you know what you will get," states Jorn Lande. You are guaranteed to get your adrenaline going with the riveting sound that has solid roots in classic hard rock/heavy metal music, such as DIO, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW and WHITESNAKE. 7

VOIVOD Performs Entire 'Dimension Hatröss' Album At Holland's ROADBURN; Video AvailableAs curators for the 17th edition of the Roadburn festival, Canadian metal innovators VOIVOD transported fans into "Dimension Hatröss" as part of their special headline show during the Au-delà du Réel event on Friday, April 13 at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland. Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be seen below.
Progressive thrash? Thrashing prog? Call it what you like, "Dimension Hatröss" is a rarity: a concept album that stands the test of time. In fact, the original storyline has been eclipsed by reality, rendering it not so much a fantastic sci-fi trip as an uncomfortably prescient account of the world today. Divided into eight chapters, the album covers everything from the quest to create a utopian society in the face of technocratic and theocratic governments to terrorism and mind control. Plus, it rocks! It rocks in that uniquely hypnotic flight of the space bumblebee way that hums VOIVOD at every dissonant turn.
In the book "Worlds Away", drummer and artist Michel "Away" Langevin fondly recalls: "Around the era of 'Dimension Hatröss', the music was so complicated we almost didn't have any interaction with the crowd anymore because we were concentrating so hard on our instruments."
But what exactly is a Hatröss? In a 1988 interview with Sounds, Away explained, "'Hatross' is a word I created from the English word 'hate' and the French word 'atroce,' from which 'atrocity' is derived." He added, "The music had to be a bit weird for this album, although we kept the heaviness of it."
VOIVOD entered Pierre Rémillard's (OBLIVEON, CRYPTOPSY, KRISIUN, MISERY INDEX) Wild Studio in January in a small town called St-Zénon in Quebec, Canada to begin recording its new album for a tentative summer release. The follow-up to 2009's "Infini" will contain the band's first music to be written with new guitarist Daniel "Chewy" Mongrain (MARTYR) following the passing of original axeman Denis "Piggy" D'Amour in 2005.

BLACK BREATH: 'Home Of The Grave' Video Released"Home Of The Grave", the new Scion A/V-produced video from Seattle deathbrigade BLACK BREATH, can be seen below. The song comes off the band's latest album, "Sentenced To Life", which was released on March 27 via Southern Lord.
With 10 tracks in under 33 minutes, "Sentenced To Life" contains the most demoralizing-yet-energizing d-beat-injected death metal hymns from the band to date, with a bit less rock and roll swagger and more full-on rage. The CD is a product of furious creativity jammed into a short span of time, written in the seemingly endless winter after returning from their November 2010 European tour.
As was the case with BLACK BREATH's acclaimed debut full-length, "Heavy Breathing", the new album was recorded at CONVERGE guitarist Kurt Ballou's Godcity studios in Salem, Massachusetts and was mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music in New Windsor, New York.
"Sentenced To Life" track listing:
01. Feast Of The Damned
02. Sentenced to Life
03. Forced Into Possession
04. Home Of The Grave
05. Endless Corpse
06. Mother Abyss
07. Of Flesh
08. Doomed
09. The Flame
10. Obey
BLACK BREATH will take part in the Southern Lord tour package in June and July. Organized and booked by Southern Lord founder Greg Anderson, the trek will also include the Ontario-based hardcore/rock outfit BURNING LOVE (featuring ex-CURSED vocalist), the dark lords of Swedish crust MARTYRDOD making their debut U.S. appearance and Milwaukee's punk/hardcore crossover outfit ENABLER. Special additional performances from POISON IDEA, NOOTHGRUSH, PELICAN, POWERTRIP, WILD/TRIBE, DEAD IN THE DIRT, THE SECRET, ALL PIGS MUST DIE and more will also be added regionally. 4
