COREY TAYLOR (STONE SOUR) Says He Is Writing New Music With DUFF MCKAGANSLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor was interviewed on this past Friday's (August 12) episode of "Hoppus On Music", the Fuse TV talk show hosted by BLINK-182 bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus. You can now watch clips from the program below.
When asked about the persistent rumors that he may end up being the new VELVET REVOLVER vocalist, Corey said, "I'm not singing with VELVET REVOLVER. We were doing some writing and doing some jamming and what-not, but it just seemed like there were different ideas as to what they wanted to do. And it was completely mutual; it was all good. I just love the fact that I got to hang out with people I grew up listening to."
He added, "Me and Duff [McKagan, former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER bassist] will probably do some stuff later. Me and him, we really hit it off, and we're really close, and we started writing songs together, and we've got some really good stuff. So, you never know. There might be a mystery supergroup out there — me and Duff and some other weird people — making some weird music that people are, like, 'What?! That's them?!' So, yeah, maybe. We'll see what happens."
In a recent interview with MusicRadar.com, McKagan stated about Taylor, "I think he's fucking great. . . I think he's the best voice of a new generation. The best rock 'n' voice out there. He's got a lot of positive energy. I'd be proud to do anything with him."
VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash admitted in a recent interview that he was the main reason why Taylor didn't get the frontman job, explaining, "It just didn't seem to fit right to me. And he's great, and I love Corey, but it didn't seem like the answer to the VELVET REVOLVER problem."
Taylor told a Canadian radio station after hearing of Slash's comments, "I guess it just wasn't working for him, which . . . He's Slash and he's entitled to have that, and I'm not gonna argue with him. But it was cool to just be able to get together and jam with those guys and I made some really cool friends." 13

FINAL DEPRAVITY Introduce New Bass PlayerGerman thrashers FINAL DEPRAVITY have announced a new member:
"You have probably noticed a new face on our live pics and in our videos in the past months. Today's the time to officially introduce our new bass player to you: please welcome Alex Voß to the Final Depravity family!
Alex stepped in on very short notice when our former bassist Tobias wasn't available for the European tour with ONSLAUGHT and SUIDAKRA in March/April. He did a damn great job on that tour and in the subsequent time, and because Tobias wants to focus on his studies in the future, we have decided to ask Alex to become a permanent member in Final Depravity - we are very happy he agreed!
And here we are as a true four-piece band again, ready to get things done and looking very much forward to the future. Currently we have taken a concert hiatus to focus on preparing for our second album and we make great progress.
Final Depravity will be back on stage from September on, kicking off the second live period in 2011 at Exile - Festival in Herne, Germany, on September 30 with Cripper, Everflow, Layment and Sacred Steel.
Thanks for all your support so far, everybody, we keep counting on you!
Thrash is just the beginning..."
The new Final Depravity line-up:
Oliver Hey - guitar, vocals
Tristan Maiwurm - drums
Alex Voß - bass
Dennis "Blaze" Baron - vocals, guitar

DUSKMACHINE Complete New DemoDUSKMACHINE, featuring PRIMAL FEAR/ex-ANNIHILATOR drummer Randy Black, ex-Annihilator bassist Russ Bergquist and guitarist Nikolai Wurk, have issued the following update:
“Our three-song demo-CD is finally done, as you can see on the pic Joe took. Next, we will approach labels and hopefully find someone who is interested in releasing the soon to be completed album. We do not plan to sell the demos, as they are made for pure promotional reasons. Joe is back from a non-stop-six-month-lasting job and will finish the vocals plus some additional guitar parts in the next weeks. The final mix is now set for late October 2011; additional info - tracklist, artwork etc. - will follow in the near future.
Also, a big thank you goes out to all the people who are following and supporting us over the time now. We are deeply sorry for this delay and please, believe us that we are suffering from it more than anyone else. But there are things that just happen and cannot be influenced by anyone of us. The wait will be worth it, for sure. The new songs, especially with Joe’s voice are a huge step forward and we cannot wait to release the album and play live.”

NAPALM DEATH – New Album Pushed Back To FebruaryIn an exclusive interview with BraveWords.com scribe Aaron Small, NAPALM DEATH bassist Shane Embury revealed that although his band’s new album was originally scheduled for release this October, it’s since been pushed back to February 2012.
“The October release isn’t going to happen,” says Shane. “We’ve finished the album. We’re still negotiating with the record label, Century Media, which is pretty much done, but I think it’s safe to say that the album will probably come out in February of next year unfortunately. It’s a bit of a shame, unless something miraculous turns around, but pretty much everything is good to go. It’s just a case of waiting for the label to decide how they want to push it and in what particular way, because obviously the label does their campaign and promotion. We’re getting to that period of the year now, time just goes so fast. We’re already in the middle of August and before you know it, it’s going to be the end of the year, so February might be a better time slot for it.” 6

SABATON: Working Title Of Next Album RevealedSwedish metallers SABATON have set "Kings Of War" as the working title of their next album, tentatively due before the end of 2012 via Nuclear Blast Records.
SABATON will play the final show of its current tour on December 18 at Trix/Hof Ter Lo in Antwerp, Belgium. The band states, "This will be a one-off and we will not bring a setlist or respect any venue curfew."
The group adds, "Last tour we ended in Essen (Germany) and it was a totally magic night. This time the honor to end the tour has come to Belgium and we are sure that this will be the perfect place and country that we will remember when we enter the studio.
"The last five times SABATON played Trix/Hof Ter Lo it was sold out in advance, so if you do not want to miss the show of the year, make sure you get your tickets direct. Tickets will be released on August 26.
"This show will mark the end of the fantastic one-and-a-half-year-long 'World War Tour' and is likely the last chance to hear some of our songs for a very long time since next time we go on tour it will be with a completely new album in our backs."

XANDRIA Signs With NAPALM RECORDSGerman female-fronted symphonic metallers XANDRIA have inked a deal with Napalm Records. The band is currently in the studio recording its as-yet-untitled fifth album for an early 2012 release.
Commented XANDRIA mastermind Marco Heubaum: "We wanted to make sure that we'd have the best conditions to record the new album the way we want it, and Napalm and us shared the same ideas, objectives and visions from the very beginning on. We are very confident XANDRIA and Napalm Records with its roster and expertise will make a great team!"
XANDRIA will take part in the "Out Of The Dark" European tour with VAN CANTO, TRISTANIA, SERENITY and AMBERIAN DAWN in the fall.
XANDRIA in December announced the addition of singer Manuela Kraller to the group's ranks.
Kraller made her live debut with XANDRIA at the "Classic Meets Pop" event on January 7 at the Seidensticker Halle in Bielefeld, Germany.
Commented Manuela: "My musical life started very late, at the age of 23. In a choir in Finland I discovered singing for me and since then it became my passion. I began to take classical singing lessons, sang in church and gospel choirs and soon I was asked to be a solo singer in choirs, at churchly and also at private occasions. But as I have grown up with metal and rock music I soon wanted to combine it with my classical background. So I started singing rock and metal songs with a friend and also wrote own songs for the first time. Soon after that I joined a metal band called NAGOR MAR (Switzerland) and I also became a singer in the German band HAGGARD, where I had great experiences on stage and on tour. And now a 'new age' has begun for me and I am very pleased to be the new singer of XANDRIA!"
XANDRIA performed several concerts last year with the band's former frontwoman, Lisa Middelhauve, filling in.
XANDRIA in February 2011 parted ways with its singer of one year, Kerstin Bischof. The group stated at the time, "Due to occupational and private reasons, [Kerstin] wants to concentrate on her non-musical career in the future and cannot support XANDRIA the way it would be necessary."
Bischof joined XANDRIA in February 2009 as the replacement for Middelhauve, who left the band in May 2008 for "personal reasons." Lisa stated at the time, "My exit has nothing to do with dispute or controversy within the band. It was just time to split."
