According to Peter Nielsen of the Thin Lizzy Guide, a complete version of THIN LIZZY's legendary1978 performance at Sydney Opera House featuring Gary Moore was recently unearthed. The person holding the footage is willing to make this available for commercial release and discussions were due to take place with interested parties in early February. The unreleased footage is completely different to the countless versions that have been released officially or otherwise over the years. The complete concert features different camera angles and extra songs.

Following the sad passing of LIZZY legend Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy Guide believes that the release of this concert featuring Gary would be a fitting tribute to his memory.

Florida death metal veterans CANNIBAL CORPSE will release their fourth DVD, "Global Evisceration", on March 15 via Metal Blade Records. The set was shot and edited by director Denise Korycki (Wild Wind Productions) who also worked on the group's "Centuries of Torment - The First 20 Years" DVD in addition to releases from such other bands as AS I LAY DYING, MASTODON, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and SUPERJOINT RITUAL.

"Global Evisceration" contains one disc and is approximately three hours long with artwork by the infamous Vince Locke. The main program includes full live-song performances from two live shows: the Gothic Theater in Englewood, Colorado on May 3, 2010 and Sunshine Theater in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 8, 2010. It also contains bonus performances and extra segments, including behind-the-scenes footage covering CANNIBAL CORPSE's tours in support of the "Evisceration Plague" album.

U.D.O., the German metal band led by former ACCEPT frontman Udo Dirkschneider, has completed work on its new album, "REV-Raptor", for a May 20 release via AFM Records. The recordings took place between June 2010 and February 2011 at Roxx studios (owned by U.D.O. guitarist and ex-ACCEPT drummer Stefan Kaufmann) in Pulheim, Germany. The CD was mastered by Manfred Melchior at MM Sound Digital studios in Steinhagen, Germany. The album's cover artwork will once again be a comic-like motif: but the "Dominator" character will this time be "a lot more effectual and colorful," according to a press release.

TESTAMENT's Alex Skolnick has posted the following message on Twitter regarding the passing of legendary guitarist Gary Moore:

"RIP, Gary Moore. Brilliant guitarist, not the most household name but one who didn't need trends, gimmicks or image, just pure tone and soul."

Moore died in his sleep yesterday morning (Sunday, February 6), hours after checking into the five-star Kempinski Hotel in Estepona on the Costa del Sol with an unnamed female friend. He was 58 years old.

The cause of death remained unclear last night.

According to The Sun, legendary guitarist Gary Moore choked on his vomit after knocking back champagne and brandy before being discovered around 4 a.m. yesterday (Sunday, February 6) by his girlfriend unconscious in their Spanish hotel room.

Medics found the 58-year-old axeman lying lifeless on his back wearing just his underpants.

An ambulance source told The Sun: "We believe the deceased had been drinking heavily."

A source at The Kempinski hotel on Spain's Costa del Sol — where suites cost up to £3,500 a night — said: "There were definite signs of alcohol in the room.

Frontman Michael Eden of the multinational melodic metal band EDEN'S CURSE has released the following statement regarding to the passing of legendary guitarist Gary Moore:

"Man, I can't believe it was 24 years ago I saw Gary Moore for the first time.

"One word says it all today... shocked!!

"Gary Moore left us far too soon. He just played an amazing hard rock set last year and many of us were pleased he might have been doing that again so we could see it once again.

"Gary did things with a guitar that most guitar players can only dream about. His music in regards to THIN LIZZY or his later solo efforts with Phil [Lynott] and Glenn Hughes should be known as some of the best hard rock ever made. From 'Empty Rooms' to 'Over The Hills', it is with a huge loss that this legend is now gone. He might be gone now but his music will forever speak to us!

Los Angeles-based painter/cartoonist Tom Neely has dedicated his talents to creating the official artwork for the first annual Heavy Metal Film Festival, set to take place at the Downtown Independent Cinema in Los Angeles, California this coming March 31 through April 3.

Festival organizer and long-time metalhead Samuel Douek states the following about his collaboration with Neely: "Hollywood has certainly seen a fair amount of film festivals, but none as heavy as this! The artwork celebrates the heavy arrival of metal in Hollywood and I'm very happy with Tom Neely's fingerprints being all over this soon-to-be historical event."

On his involvement with the Heavy Metal Film Festival, Neely shares: "Being the first edition of this festival, I wanted to make sure the arrival of the festival in L.A. was noted. What better than to say: Hell descends on Hollywood!"

There is still an open call for submissions, which can include full-length features, documentaries, shorts, "making-of"s and live concerts. Punk rock icon Henry Rollins told The Hollywood Reporter that legendary guitarist Gary Moore's death was "a big loss."

"He was too young to go," Rollins said.

Rollins not only praised Moore's work with THIN LIZZY ("those LIZZY recordings with Moore were as good as it gets"), but also his individual projects.

"His solo records were rocking," Rollins said.

Danish thrash metal veterans ARTILLERY have completed work on their sixth album, "My Blood", at Medley Studios in Copenhagen for a March 21 European release via Metal Mind Productions (April 5 in the U.S. through MVD and March 9 in Japan via King Records). 14 songs were laid down during the sessions — 10 brand new tracks, a remake of "Ain't Giving In" (from 1992's "Mind Factory" demo) and three bonus tracks which are all new versions of timeless classics from the 1985 album "Fear Of Tomorrow" ("The Eternal War", "The Almighty" and "Show Your Hate"). The cover artwork was created by well-known Polish graphic designer Graal, who has previously worked with VITAL REMANS, SINISTER, SOLITUDE AETURNUS and BULLDOZER. EMPEROR released its swansong, "Prometheus - The Discipline Of Fire And Demise", in September 2001. It was an epic and progressive metal album that once and for all marked EMPEROR as one of the most adventurous and gifted black metal bands of all times. In 2005, EMPEROR surprised all with an unannounced appearance at Oslo's famed Inferno festival. Following the performance, the band announced additional concerts that would include a visit to America; marking the second trip to the States in the band's legendary career. Fans flocked to New York City and Los Angeles to witness the sold-out performances. In 2007, additional shows would see the band return to the U.S. for a repeat performance in New York City, a stop in Chicago, and what would be their final American performance in Los Angeles.

"In Memory Of", the sophomore album from Norwegian gothic-doom metallers TO CAST A SHADOW, will be made available for streaming in its entirety at InvisibleOranges.com (Note: the stream will only be available from February 7 until February 20). Swedish melodic death metallers CIPHER SYSTEM have uploaded the first two in a series of clips featuring behind-the-scenes footage from the recording sessions for the band's sophomore album, "Communicate The Storms". Mixing will once again be handled by Fredrik Nordström at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden in the beginning of April.

According to the band, "The music direction hasn't changed that much since [the release of 2004's debut, 'Central Tunnel Eight'], so it's still melodic death metal we are talking about." Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "A Lesson Learned", "End My Path", "Forget To Forgive", "Objection", "The Failure Start" and "Project Life Collapse".

Most of the members of AEROSMITH spent a few days last week working on songs for a new album with co-writer Marti Frederiksen at a studio in Los Angeles. The only man missing was guitarist Joe Perry, who was unable to join his bandmates for the sessions due to what Billboard.com described as an "unspecified commitment."

In a series of Twitter messages, Perry explained his absence, saying, "I had previous plans could not get out of.

"I am in AEROSMITH. I am not going anywhere.

"The band isn't writing anymore. It was only for eight days.

"AEROSMITH and I will be writing in the spring. The guys only got together for eight days.

"There's nothing to make up. We are brothers we have been texting back and forth since the tour ended. It's a bunch of B.S.

"It was only an eight-day writing session that got blown outta proportion.

"We are looking forward to the next CD

"[Singer] Steven [Tyler] and I text all of the time. He's my brother in arms, just like Brad [Whitford, guitar], Joey [Kramer, drums] and [bassist] Tom [Hamilton are]. Everything else is a rumor.

"Don't worry bout a thing. AEROSMITH lives on [and] I am in it. It's my band. Tom and I formed it in 1969. It's the five of us."

Frederiksen told Billboard.com that the band and he have been "playing songs, putting together riffs, having fun, laughing and working from noon to 11 (p.m.) We're just digging in, man."

Norway's FORMLOFF has completed work on "Spyhorelandet", a nine-song, 54-minute collection of "rural black metal, thematically embracing the tragedy of everyday life." The effort is described in a press release as "a journey through an atmospheric-yet-progressive and at times jazzy black metal landscape with a raw sounding production."

For the "Spyhorelandet" recording sessions, Bernt Karsten Sannerud (vocals, keyboards) and Marius Blekspetl Sjøli (vocals, guitars) recruited several session members, who contributed drums, bass and saxophone.

"Spyhorelandet" is sung completely in a rural Norwegian dialect, and the lyrics are a revulsion-filled letter to all of us. The CD was produced by Bernt Karsten Sannerud and Marius Blekspetl Sjøli and was mixed by Bernt Karsten Sannerud at IKA studios. The mastering duties were handled by Markus Skroch at Kalthallen.de.

RIBSPREADER, the Swedish "old-school death metal" band featuring guitarist/vocalist/bassist Rogga Johansson (PAGANIZER, DEMIURG, BONEGNAWER), will release its fourth full-length album, "The Van Murders", on April 25 via Vic Records. According to a press release, the CD "sounds like the classic RIBSPREADER debut album 'Bolted to The Cross'. Less groovy than 'Opus Ribcage', WAY more raw, harsh and old school (band leader Rogga expressed it as: 'dirty, simple old-school death metal, no frills and lots of chills)."

"The Van Murders" is the first RIBSPREADER concept album about two killers named The Cleaner and Mr. Filth. Drums on the CD were laid down by Norwegian master drummer Brynjar Helgetun (PAGANIZER, THE GROTESQUERY). The cover art was created by Turkka Rantanen (THE GROTESQUERY, DEMILECH, DEMIURG).
