DEEP PURPLE: EPK For 35th-Anniversary Reissue Of \'Come Taste The Band\' AvailableAn EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for the upcoming 30th-anniversary reissue of DEEP PURPLE's "Come Taste The Band" album can be viewed below.
The "Come Taste The Band" 35th-anniversary reissue is due out on October 25 in the U.K. and November 2 in North America via EMI. It includes a remastered version of the album, plus the single edit of "You Keep On Moving" on disc one. Disc two features a remixed version of the LP by Kevin Shirley (LED ZEPPELIN, IRON MAIDEN, JOURNEY, HIM), with input from Glenn Hughes, plus two previously unreleased instrumental tracks from the sessions.
"Come Taste The Band" was recorded between August 3 and September 1, 1975 at Musicland Studios in Munich, Germany, and released in October 1975. The album was co-produced and engineered by the band and longtime associate Martin Birch (IRON MAIDEN, BLACK SABBATH). It is the only DEEP PURPLE studio record featuring Tommy Bolin, who replaced Ritchie Blackmore on lead guitar. When Blackmore left the band, many observers and critics assumed that DEEP PURPLE would not continue. It was David Coverdale who asked Jon Lord to keep the band together, and Tommy Bolin was asked to take the guitar slot. FLYLEAF Performs Acoustically On 101.7 THE FOXOn October 18, FLYLEAF performed a two-song acoustic set on Santa Rosa, California's 101.7 The Fox radio station inside the "Less Is More Lounge." Watch the performance below.
FLYLEAF vocalist Lacey Mosley Sturm recently told the Dallas Morning News that she thinks the question of whether the band considers itself "Christian rock" is misunderstood. Sturm explained, "What people want to really know is, are they Christian? I would want to know if they are Christian . . . We are all Christians in our band, and it comes out in our music. We want to be honest. There is sometimes an animosity for Christianity. It's awful that they would judge us based on what they hear and not the music."
Unlike many other so-called Christian bands, FLYLEAF did not come up through the Christian market, where albums are often distributed specifically through religious bookstores. Sturm told The Pulse of Radio that she's fine with that. "What is the Christian market anyway?" she said. "You know, I mean, we play music, if people like it and they want to, you know, they want to support us, then that's amazing, you know. It doesn't matter, you know, if you're Christian or not."
The Texas-born Sturm admitted that at the age of 16, she considered herself an atheist. She struggled through a rough home life, drugs and even thoughts of suicide before her grandmother convinced her to go to church.
Sturm also told the Morning News that being a female singer in the male-dominated rock world is "still an issue," saying, "The rock stations didn't want to play a rock band that was female-fronted. We wanted them to put it on and let the people decide. People loved it. Look at it on the basis of I'm a musician and it's real, not on the basis of being a woman in a rock band."

KAMPFAR: New Album Title, Release Date RevealedNorwegian old-school black metallers KAMPFAR have set "Mare" as the title of their new album, due on March 25, 2011 via Napalm Records. The follow-up to 2008's "Heimgang" album was recorded at Abyss studios in Pärlby, outside Ludvika, Sweden with producer Peter Tägtgren (HYPOCRISY, PAIN).
"Heimgang" (said to be "the connection between the underworld and our own") came out in September 2008 via Napalm Records.
A press release reads: "Refusing to follow in the footsteps of others before or after them, the band delivered an album that sounds, looks, and feels like the very essence of KAMPFAR music inspired by Nordic natural beauty, folklore and myths. It is dark, cold, menacing, and yet alluring in a unique way. These Norwegians belong to the forerunners of the genre, though they cannot be compared to any one specific band. KAMPFAR does not place the most importance on speed, as do others, but rather on expression and content. KAMPFAR is a self-contained mix of raw black metal and pagan metal embossed with traditional folkloric influences. KAMPFAR's music is and remains Norse pagan folklore metal, and proves that compromises are unnecessary in creating greatness."

SAMANTHA FOX On Her Friendship With LEMMY, \'Love Affair\' With PAUL STANLEYRockConfidential.com recently conducted an interview with English model and singer Samantha Fox. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
RockConfidential.com: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that you said you wanted Lemmy from MOTÖRHEAD to give you away at your wedding!
Samantha Fox: That's really rock 'n roll! We met when I was 17. He read in the newspaper that before I was a model I was in a band and that I loved MOTÖRHEAD and AC/DC and VAN HALEN and KISS. He was quite surprised because my image at the time was very girly. I don't think a lot of people realized I was into rock 'n' roll so much. He was a fan of my pictures. It's so funny that he's a fan of mine! He came up to me at a charity event we were doing together. We started talking and he said we should do a song together. This was way before "Touch Me". I went to his house and walked into his living room. I couldn't believe that his back wall was full of my pictures from newspapers and magazines. He said, "OK, let's get some inspiration. What kind of song you want to do as a duet?" We started laughing about doing a heavy metal Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. He wanted to put on some music for inspiration and I couldn't believe he put ABBA on! Lemmy loves ABBA? He told me he gets a lot of his melody ideas from bands like ABBA. We wrote a song and called it "Beauty and the Beast". It was fantastic. Unfortunately, Lemmy and MOTÖRHEAD got involved in a litigation with the record label and wasn't able to release new music for about three or four years. We couldn't release that track, which was a shame. We became friends over the years. We always meet up for dinner if we pass while gigging around. He's always been a mentor of mine since I've known him from such a young age. What can I say? Lemmy is one of the gods of rock music. He knows the ins and outs of the business and if I ever needed advice he's always been there for me. Unfortunately, my dad passed away 11 years ago I thought Lemmy would be great to give me away. It would be fantastic! He's such a nice fella. He's got a lot of character and lot of wisdom. I could sit and listen to his stories all day long. This guy tours constantly — his whole life. He's never home. I think he's one of the hardest-working people in the business.
RockConfidential.com: Except for when he's at the Rainbow playing those touch screen games…
Samantha Fox: I know! I've met Lemmy a few times in L.A. We'd go out and have a drink together and he'd leave me to go play one of those machines! You're not very good at conversation tonight, are ya Lemmy? He'd say, "Put some money in and rub me for luck!" If anyone can drag him away from those machines, I can!
RockConfidential.com: I've got to ask about your relationship with Paul Stanley. You dated him for a while. What do you remember about that time?
Samantha Fox: It was a wonderful time. I remember moving to New York. Every week I was flying back and forth to New York. I was constantly jet-lagged and burnt out. All I thought about New York was guns, gangs, rapes and drugs! That what I saw on TV, ya know? My bass player had moved to Albany. I knew him very well. I moved out my best friend and PA so it wasn't like I moved out all on my own. I had friends at the record company. I was recording one day with Full Force. We were working on the "Just One Night" record, I think. Paul was doing some solo stuff away from KISS. He really liked the "Naughty Girls" song I did. He got in touch with Full Force to work on a track. I was recording and he heard I was in the studio because he was working with Full Force at that time. I don't think anything ever came about with that track. I think he wanted to meet me because he just happened to turn up the day I was singing. Full Force introduced me to Paul. I was a big KISS fan anyway. Ten minutes after he left he called me from his limousine and asked me out on a date. I was new in the States and up for meeting new people. I wasn't thinking about a love affair at that time. I said "OK," and he said, "Well, how about tonight?" We went out for a great meal and he ended up showing me the America I didn't know. While I was recording the album Paul was doing a short tour of the States. In between the album I went on tour with him and saw how he did things — the rock 'n roll. way. I had a great time with Paul and learned a lot from him. He's a very talented guy. We had a great love affair. I went on tour for six months on a bus with a band. Me and Paul tried to see each other when we could. He was then on tour with KISS. After that tour I became a tax exile because I was paying so much tax and all of my money was basically going to managers and the tax man. I went to live in Spain for a year and our love affair just kind of fizzled out. There were no arguments or bad feelings. It was just a case of being apart. I have great memories of Paul. He's a really nice guy. He's a bit older than me but what can I say? I'm sure he lied about his age then! KISS is still a fantastic band and in 1989 they'd done far more than I'd done. Listening to their stories and his wisdom was fantastic.
RockConfidential.com: With Lemmy and Paul, that's definitely good company to be around in the music biz.
Samantha Fox: When I lived in Spain I became great friends with Glenn Tipton from JUDAS PRIEST. He lived just down the road. He was a tax exile as well. I wanted to still carry on writing while I lived there. Someone introduced me to Glenn in a bar. The next thing you know I'm at this beautiful, big house in his studio. I wrote some songs with him, too. Nothing ever came about. The record company wasn't keen on those songs but he got to play on one of our tracks called "Spirit of America". He recorded a fantastic solo for me. It was cool during that year in Spain to be working with him. 4

PANTHEON I: \'13 New Songs Ready\' For Next AlbumNorwegian extreme metallers PANTHEON I have issued the following update:
"If PANTHEON I has seemed uncharacteristically quiet recently, it's because the band have been very, very busy working on things behind the scenes. However, we thought we'd take a few minutes breather and update you on what has been going on.
"First of all, as you all know, we've been looking to increase the band by one more person with the addition of a vocalist. With the band expanding so much musically, this will allow Kvebek to put all his energies into the guitar, and give the band a frontman who is free to roam the stage and interact more closely with the audience.
"Seems that there are a lot of very skilled vocalists out there who are interested in joining PANTHEON I and we are spending a lot of time listening to demos and doing live auditions.
"As a band we put 101% into what we do, so the right person for us will not only be good at what they do, which includes singing in both Norwegian and English, and being able to perform both clean and extreme vocals, but also be willing and able to rehearse in Oslo regularly and definitely have a good sense of humour to fit in with the rest of us.
"Secondly, we have been working our asses off recording the pre-production for the next album. We already have 13 new songs ready and whilst we would really like you to hear what you can expect, you'll just have to wait! We are ready to throw a few surprises your way, and the wait will be worth it.
"December, of course, sees us heading to Germany to co-headline the Ender Der Zeit tour with our colleagues from TROLLFEST. Also on the lineup will be the German bands FINSTERFORST and UNLIGHT, as well as local supports.
"PANTHEON I are always eager to get on the road, and we're thinking this short tour, which takes place just before Christmas, and hence during the period when everyone is up for a bit of celebrating, will be a lot of fun for bands and fans alike."
