The DREAM THEATER cover of "Stargazer" is now available at iTunes. The original can be found on RAINBOW's 1976 album "Rainbow Rising".

TORTURE DIVISION, the new Swedish death metal project featuring guitarist Lord K. Philipson (THE PROJECT HATE, GOD AMONG INSECTS, ex-LEUKEMIA), bassist/vocalist Jörgen Sandström (VICIOUS ART, THE PROJECT HATE, ex-ENTOMBED, GRAVE) and drummer Tobias "Tobben" Gustafsson (VOMITORY), is preparing to record a new demo featuring the next three songs to be completed by the all-star lineup. Philipson says, "[Jörgen] just created a muthafucken excellent first sketch of a new track that we will continue to work on [as soon as possible]. Now shit is really going forward. The third tune is already in the process as well and you guys can look forward to yet another fantastic recording when the time comes. Two songs down, one to go."

TORTURE DIVISION's demo trilogy — which was previously available for free download via the band's web site — was released on vinyl on April 6 via Vic Records. As previously reported, the recordings will also be made available in CD format through Abyss Records. Entitled "With Endless Wrath We Bring Upon Thee Our Infernal Torture", the effort will contain the band's "Suffer The Shitmass" seven-inch EP as bonus tracks.

Belgian death metallers PREJUDICE will release their long-awaited fourth album, "Megalomanic Infest", via RTTC Records. U.S. distribution will be handled by Sevared, European distribution by Pathologically Explicit, and Japanese distribution by Amputated Vein.

"Megalomanic Infest" was recorded at Excess studio in Rotterdam, Holland. The CD was mixed by Chris Van der Valk for Home-Grown Productions, and was mastered by Colin Davis (VILE) at Imperial Mastering. The layout was handled by Killustrations and cover art was created by Pär Olofsson (ABORTED, EMETH).

Swedish epic/melodic metallers NARNIA have completed work on their sixth album, titled "Course Of A Generation", for a July 24 European release via Massacre Records. The CD will mark the debut of the band's new lead singer, Germán Pascual (MIND'S EYE, MENDEZ), who replaced Christian Liljegren last year. The cover artwork (see below) was created by Carlos Barbosa from Artiside, Brazil and the logo was redesigned by Rainer Mittelstädt of InLine Design in Germany.

"Course Of A Generation" was mixed by Fredrik Nordström and Henrik Udd at Studio Fredman (IN FLAMES, SOILWORK, ARCH ENEMY, DIMMU BORGIR) in Gothenburg, Sweden.

"Cruise Ship Terror", the new video from New Jersey's thrashing pirates SWASHBUCKLE, can be viewed below. The track comes off the band's Nuclear Blast debut, "Back To The Noose", which is scheduled for release on July 24.

SWASHBUCKLE was one of three winners of last year's Nuclear Blast MySpace Bands Contest.

German metal band IVORY NIGHT has entered the studio with producer Ronny Lang to record its third full-length album for an early fall release. Lead singer Patrick Fuchs (who also fronts the solo band of former MANOWAR guitarist Ross "The Boss" Friedman), says, "Ronny did a great job on our [previous] album, 'Machine', and we really wanted to work with him again. We now already feel that this album will be the next step in our career."

RollingStone.com reports that PEARL JAM bassist Jeff Ament was the victim of a violent robbery outside Southern Tracks Recording studios in Atlanta, where the band is recording their ninth studio album with producer Brendan O'Brien. According to a police report, Ament and a band employee pulled up to the rear of the studio on the afternoon of April 27 when three assailants brandishing knives emerged from the woods wearing black masks, gloves and pants. The robbers smashed the windows of a rented Jeep and grabbed a BlackBerry before demanding more money. In total, Ament was robbed of $3,000 in cash and $4,320 worth of goods.

IMPALED NAZARENE's "Tol Cormpt Norz Norz Norz" (1993) and "Ugra Karma" (1993) albums will be reissued by Osmose Productions on June 15 as gatefold double 10" EPs, limited to 700 copies each. Side 3 and 4 on both albums contain remastered live bonus tracks from the same period as the original recording sessions.

IMPALED NAZARENE's latest album, "Manifest", was released in October 2007. The CD was recorded and mixed at Sonic Pump studio by Tapio Pennanen, and was mastered at Finnvox studio by Mika Jussila. The cover artwork and layout was handlded by Ritual. The album was made available in the following formats: jewel case, digipack (limited to 5,000 copies) and double 10" vinyl (limited to 500 copies).

Keyboardist Henrik "Lance" Klingenberg of the Finnish melodic metal band SONATA ARCTICA has issued the following update:

"Many... OK, let's not kid ourselves here, but at least some of you wonder how the [new SONATA ARCTICA] album is progressing. So far the drums, bass and rhythm guitars are done. Some weeks ago we had a meeting with the boys and among other things we decided which songs are going to be on the album and in what order. Hell yeah!! So we're right on schedule and....still have a couple of weeks until the mixing starts. Those dear days will be spent on working out the keyboard tracks, Tony's [Kakko] got a bunch of vocals left to do, we're still waiting on some guest 'tracks, etc. All in all we're once again excited as hell about the new stuff and if everything goes well you'll have a new SONATA album in your hands next fall."

Klingenberg previously described the new SONATA ARCTICA material as "a bit darker and maybe not so complex as [2007's] 'Unia'. Nevertheless, it's definitely not a back-to-the-roots album with fast power metal. All the trademark SONATA stuff is on there, solos, lots of singing some slower songs."

We are glad to announce that Kai Hahto (Wintersun, ex-Rotten Sound) will be playing drums on our forthcoming album and live shows next summer.

We have known Kai for years, and we have worked with him earlier when he played with us on our North American tour back in 2007. Knowing what he's capable of behind the drum set we are really excited about working with him again. We are confident that he can deliver drum parts that will not only perfectly fit the trademark Swallow the Sun -sound, but take it even further. We'll start rehearsing with him at the end of this month, and we'll keep you posted on how the album is coming up!

In true summer blockbuster form, Bay has turned to LINKIN PARK to be part of the sonic backdrop for "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen". The band is contributing to the score with award-winning composer Steve Jablonsky ("Transformers", "Texas Chainsaw Massacre") and the score's executive producer, Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer.

"New Divide" is available for purchase on iTunes and will appear on the Warner Bros. Records soundtrack album, which arrives in stores on June 23.

"Turn The Tide", the new video from NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) legends PRAYING MANTIS, can be viewed below. The song comes off the band's new studio album, "Sanctuary", which is scheduled for release in Europe on June 5 via Frontiers Records (July 14 in the U.S.). The CD was recorded in Atlanta, Georgia under the direction of producer/engineer Andy Reilly (ASIA, THE CULT, BRUCE DICKINSON, FM, etc). "Hard to believe but MANTIS have been in existence for over thirty years," says bassist Chris Troy. "Quite incredible, really, that we are still there releasing albums and maturing nicely. This also coincides with the 30th anniversary since the inception of NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal). IRON MAIDEN have obviously made it and just as importantly have managed to stay up there for this long time. Well done, lads! By the way, the album title 'Sanctuary' has no relationship to them!! He continued, "I know its probably a cliché statement used by so many bands, but I do honestly believe it is by far the best thing we have ever done. "I'll Come Back As Fire" a track written by Norway's PANTHEON I for the soundtrack to the horror film "Someone's Knocking At The Door", is now available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. The film itself, which is described in promotional material as a "genre-defying grindhouse throwback," was directed by Chad Ferrin ("The Ghouls", "Easter Bunny Kill, Kill"), will make its U.S. debut on June 8 at San Francisco's "Another Hole In The Head" film festival.

Black/death metallers PANTHEON I, who are fronted by former 1349 guitarist Kvebek, and include cellist Live Julianne and members of 1349, TYRANN, and THE ALL SEEING I in the lineup, will release their third full-length album, "Worlds I Create", this summer on Candlelight Records.

Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH will release their ninth full-length studio album, "Evangelion", on August 7 in Europe via Nuclear Blast Records and August 11 in North America through Metal Blade. The CD was mixed at Miloco Studios in London, England by Colin Richardson, who has previously worked with MACHINE HEAD, SLIPKNOT, NAPALM DEATH and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, among many others.

Commented BEHEMOTH mainman Adam "Nergal" Darski (guitar, vocals): "'Evangelion' combines a pure art form with a direct message. It was also important for us to ensure that the graphical presentation did justice to the record. Again, we have worked with Tomasz Danilowicz, who has created his best illustration yet for BEHEMOTH. The picture is of The Great Harlot of Babylon riding the seven-headed beast. Saints bow before her in worship whilst the tablets of the Ten Commandments lie broken at her feet. It represents our vision and the interpretation of the New Testament parable where the 'Whore of Babylon' is a symbol of rebellion and resistance against God. I am fascinated by stories whose source lies in the Bible and we have used biblical symbolism, coupled with my own experience and outlook, in our lyrics or on the covers of previous BEHEMOTH records. I love to juggle with meanings and play around with symbolism which is exactly what I have done in this case. The main character of our new cover is an archetype of disobedience, individualism, self-determination and a free, unfettered will — these are universal keywords which are typical and crucial in understanding the character of our works, life as a whole and the true nature of man."

Nergal previously stated about the new material, "I must confess that I'm way more excited about this record than I was for [2007's] 'The Apostasy'. It's probably the whole label situation that we had to deal back then, Inferno's injury that caused crazy deadlines that completely drained the energy out of my system… I even started treating that album as unwanted child. Weird, because from time perspective, it's a great one. This time though everything was planned much in advanced. I found time to live my life, get some energy back, get inspired and so on… When we met in October it was obvious that all of us were really hungry for making new music. It's definitely 100% BEHEMOTH. I would risk saying that we do have our own style but it's still improving, evolving in different directions every time we approach new project. Most of the songs are the really fast, technical and intense, at the same time there's a lot of diversity. There's even a very slow, massive song that's probably the most epic tracks in BEHEMOTH's history. Everything sounds more serious and…dangerous (I love that word, ha ha). There's probably more sinister vibe in our music this time too."

BEHEMOTH has been confirmed for the second annual Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, set to take place this summer. The band will perform on the Hot Topic stage alongside CANNIBAL CORPSE, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, JOB FOR A COWBOY and WHITECHAPEL on over 25 dates.

Seattle-based metallers NEVERMORE have set "The Obsidian Conspiracy" as the title of their follow-up to 2005's "This Godless Endeavor", tentatively due late 2009/early 2010 via Century Media Records. Vocalist Warrel Dane writes on his Twitter account, "Spent [Saturday, May 16] at the beach working on lyrics and melodies — sweet. This song I've been working on, 'Emptiness Unobstructed', has a massive chorus." He adds, "What do you get when you combine a huge crushing groove riff with hateful lyrics? You get a monster called 'Without Morals'."

NEVERMORE's "The Year Of The Voyager" DVD last year entered the German DVD chart at position No. 82.

Swedish "Viking metal" act MÅNEGARM has set "Nattväsen" as the title of its new album, due on October 22 via Regain Records.

MÅNEGARM's last CD, "Vargstenen" ("The Wolfstone"), entered the Swedish chart at position No. 59 back in May 2007. The LP was recorded at Studio Underground with producer Pelle Saether and was released through Black Lodge Records after a ten-year collaboration with Displeased Records.

MÅNEGARM previously stated about the CD, "We are really, really satisfied with the album recording. The songs that we have recorded feel great and Pelle Saether has, as always, done a fantastic job with the sound and with the mix. We all think that the production is the best ever and we are totally convinced, and we hope that we can convince the rest of you, that this is going to be the best MÅNEGARM album we have released so far."

A new song from veteran Maryland rock quartet CLUTCH entitled "50,000 Unstoppable Watts" is available for streaming at MetalSucks (scroll down). The track comes off the band's ninth studio album, titled "Strange Cousins From the West", which will be available both digitally and through retail on July 7. Produced by CLUTCH and J. Robbins at Magpie Cage Studios in Baltimore, the effort is the first CLUTCH studio LP to be released on the band's own Weathermaker Music, through RED Distribution. The "50,000 Unstoppable Watts" video will be officially released prior to Memorial Day weekend.

"Strange Cousins From the West" includes the POPPO'S BLUES BAND cover song "Algo Ha Cambiado", which CLUTCH vocalist Neil Fallon sings in Spanish. Poppo was a legendary Argentinian hard rock singer/guitarist throughout the '70s and '80s.

The title "Strange Cousins From the West" was taken from a line in the song "Minotaur".

Although CLUTCH has toured the world extensively over the past two years and released multiple CLUTCH-related projects, "Strange Cousins..." is the band's first original studio work since 2007's "From Beale Street to Oblivion" which featured the hit "Electric Worry".

The uncensored version of the new MARILYN MANSON video, "Arma-Goddamn-Motherfuckin'-Geddon", can be viewed below. The clip was shot with director Delaney Bishop, a filmmaker and photographer based in Los Angeles. He has directed music videos for JURASSIC 5, CUT CHEMIST and ENGELBERT HUMPERDINCK. Delaney has also worked on a twenty-minute short entitled "The Death of Salvador Dali" featuring Manson's ex-wife Dita Von Teese, a project which broke new ground in new media, as the film was made available for download through iTunes.

AYREON mastermind Arjen Lucassen's new project, GUILT MACHINE, has inked a deal with Holland's Mascot Records. The band's debut album will be released later in the year.

As AYREON fans have come to expect from Arjen, the music of GUILT MACHINE ranges from dark and heavy to atmospheric and melancholic. But GUILT MACHINE introduces some new twists as well, particularly when it comes to the vocals. Rather than putting together an ensemble cast of vocalists from the prog, rock and metal scene, Arjen has enlisted the talents of a single alternative rock vocalist, Jasper Steverlinck.

How did Arjen get an alternative rock vocalist to switch genres and sing on a prog rock project? "In the beginning, it was hard to convince Jasper to sing on this album, because he comes from a completely different musical background," Arjen said. "He didn't even know what prog was, but we've made a believer out of him! What I admire about Jasper's voice, besides its beautiful clear timbre, is the emotion and credibility he puts into his performance and his enormous range. Because this project features just one singer I needed someone versatile enough to portray all of the different moods, and Jasper didn't disappoint. And he's a really nice and dedicated guy as well!"

For GUILT MACHINE, Arjen also chose to record with a different drummer, Chris Maitland (ex-PORCUPINE TREE). "Chris was the ideal choice this time, having both the power for the heavy sections and the subtle touch needed in the more atmospheric parts," Arjen said.

Rather than the explicit storyline you would expect in an AYREON release, the songs of GUILT MACHINE revolve around a central theme. Instead of looking outward into a world of fantasy or science fiction, the songs look inward, exploring the destructive psychology of guilt, regret and the darkest form of secret — the secrets we hide from ourselves.

"At first I asked my partner and personal manager Lori to quickly write scratch lyrics for one of the songs so I could record some guide vocals," Arjen said. "I was so impressed by what she produced that I asked her to write the lyrics for all the songs. I was unable myself to create the type of darkly enigmatic, open-ended lyrics I wanted for these songs, my specialty being sci-fi lyrics about sinister aliens. She definitely gave the songs an extra dimension with her lyrics, exorcising the demons we both had faced in the past few years. It's also no secret that I've always been a big fan of her melodic guitar style, so she also plays all the guitar solos on this album."

Despite these differences, GUILT MACHINE still has much in common with AYREON. The songs are mainly long, "epic" tracks that feature dynamic contrasts between softer, dreamy sections and powerful, heavy passages. There are intricate harmonies, complex rhythms, soaring melodies, and an eclectic selection of instruments — all what you'd expect from an AYREON release.

"In my view this is my best side project so far," Arjen said. "It comes completely from the heart, for it was written and recorded during a new inspiring phase in my life after my heavy depression. This being an entirely new project there were no expectations whatsoever, which enabled me to just let my inspiration guide me without any (outside) pressure."

CARPATHIAN FOREST frontman Nattefrost has entered the studio so that production work on his third full-length solo album can begin. With a working title of "Opfergang", the effort will feature guest appearances from such musicians as Dirge Rep (ORCUSTUS, SECHT) and Vrangsinn (CARPATHIAN FOREST, SECHT, A WASTE OF TALENT). The latter is also producing the album at his own studio in the south west of Norway. More details regarding guests, track listing etc., will be revealed shortly.

Commenting on the album, Nattefrost said, "'Opfergang' has been recorded in pain, and was wrenched straight out of hell. The end-result will be the most brutal Nattefrost album to date."

"Omnicide - Creation Unleashed", the fourth album from the German extreme metal outfit NEAERA, is available for streaming in its entirety on the band's MySpace page.

"Omnicide - Creation Unleashed" is scheduled for release on May 25 in Europe via Metal Blade Records (except in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy, where it will arrive on May 22). The CD was recorded at the Rape Of Harmonies studio with producer Alexander Dietz. The artwork, which was once again created by Terje Johnsen, can be viewed below. The mixing and mastering was handled by Chris "Zeuss" Harris (HATEBREED, SHADOWS FALL, WHITECHAPEL).
