Former CELTIC FROST Mainman Working On Material For TRIPTYKON DebutFormer CELTIC FROST frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer has issued the following update on his current TRIPTYKON project:
"Just returned home from an initially somewhat hampered but ultimately very successful rehearsal session with TRIPTYKON. It was the first session in a while, not least due to a hand injury that had forced me to pause temporarily. And in a few hours, I will travel back to Norway for a few days yet again, to attend some of the mixing sessions for 1349's new album. Although, admittedly, my mind is very much with TRIPTYKON, and I am eager to return to Switzerland to continue work on songs, demos, and our first album."
TRIPTYKON's lineup also features Reed St. Mark (ex-CELTIC FROST), V. Santura (DARK FORTRESS) and Vanja Slay. The first audio sample, a track called "Crucifixus", can be heard on TRIPTYKON's official MySpace page.
Commented Fischer: "TRIPTYKON will sound as close to CELTIC FROST as is humanly possible, and the album I am working on will feature all the material I envisioned for the successor to [CELTIC FROST's] 'Monotheist'. I desire the album to be a darker, heavier, and slightly more experimental development of 'Monotheist'.
"'Crucifixus' is but one of many compositions to that end. TRIPTYKON is not defined by just this one song, however, just like CELTIC FROST was not defined by 'Totengott' alone."
Fischer announced his departure from CELTIC FROST in April 2008, citing "the irresolvable, severe erosion of the personal basis so urgently required to collaborate within a band so unique, volatile, and ambitious." 5

PAPA ROACH Sets Date For 'Metamorphosis' ccording to The Pulse of Radio, PAPA ROACH has set March 24 as the release date for the band's fifth major label album, "Metamorphosis". The disc was originally scheduled to come out last fall but got pushed back to the spring. The Pulse of Radio hears that this is the strongest PAPA ROACH outing yet, and singer Jacoby Shaddix explained why he thinks the group kicked themselves up another notch. "I think for us it's like we're treading on some new territory, and the confidence in our playing and the conviction in our playing and just the overall passion towards what we do is what makes that come across," he said. "Right now we're firing on all cylinders, I mean everybody in the band is really excited about what's going on."
"Metamorphosis" will follow up 2006's "The Paramour Sessions". The first single is called "Lifeline" (available for streaming below).
PAPA ROACH recently released a new single and video, "Hollywood Whore" (see clip below), at the group's official web site. Jacoby Shaddix told The Pulse of Radio that the song's subject matter just came to him one day after the band had finished working out the music. "I was writing and I wrote, 'Hollywood whore,' and I was all, 'Now that's a topic. I need to write about Hollywood whores, you know.' 'Cause everybody's tired of them. So I just laid it out how it is, you know, and it's a bad-ass song. It's fun, you know, and at the end I'm just spittin'off at the mouth, going crazy and it's a really fun song." 5

BELPHEGOR Working On Nine New SongsAustrian blackened death metal outfit BELPHEGOR are in the final stages of the writing process for their as-yet-untitled new album. The follow-up to 2008's "Bondage Goat Zombie" is tentatively scheduled for release in the fall via Nuclear Blast Records.
Commented vocalist/guitarist Helmuth: "Yes brothers and sisters, currently we're working on nine new sound collages. We started writing in April 2008 after the 'Bondage Goat Zombie' release to create the new compositions for the eighth werk! The songs are basically completely finished and words can't really describe how enthusiastic and motivated we are to get into the studio and record this monster! It feels great to be creative again. Nefastus will be responsible for the drums on the new album. He is an old friend to the BELPHEGOR family and has also blasted on our previous opus 'Pestapokalypse VI'. We rehearse day and night since December to make it as tight and monumental as possible. Stay tuned demons, hell awaits!!!"
Catch Austria's most dangerous band on the "Hordes of Chaos" tour in North America with KREATOR, EXODUS, WARBRINGER and EPICUREAN beginning in early April.

BLOODBATH Completes Filming \'Hades Rising\' VideoSwedish death metal "supergroup" BLOODBATH has issued the following update:
"Together with director Owe Lingwall and Village Road Film we just shot the first official promo video in the band's history for 'Hades Rising' taken off [BLOODBATH's latest album] 'The Fathomless Mastery'. The footage of the band's performance was shot on location in Vallentuna outside Stockholm and can be summoned up as some serious headbanging with lots of blood, real messy and death metal dandy! The rest of the plot/storyline is currently filmed in Umeå where the footage will also be edited within the next four weeks. Stay tuned for a synopsis of this very devilish manuscript. It's gonna crush the souls of thousands!"
"The Fathomless Mastery", the new studio album from BLOODBATH, sold around 1,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD debuted at No. 45 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
"The Fathomless Mastery" was previously described by the band as representing "nothing but hateful brutality." Promising its "most crushing production yet," the group's lineup on "The Fathomless Mastery" is the same as that on BLOODBATH's "Unblessing the Purity" mini-CD, which came out in March 2008:
Mikael Åkerfeldt (OPETH) - Vocals
Martin "Axe" Axenrot (OPETH) - Drums
Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström (KATATONIA) - Guitar
Jonas Renkse (KATATONIA) - Bass
Per "Sodomizer" Eriksson (ex-21 LUCIFERS, GENOCRUSH FEROX) – Guitar
BLOODBATH released a live CD/DVD digipack entitled "The Wacken Carnage" on June 2, 2008 in Europe and June 24 in the U.S. via Peaceville. The package contains footage of the band's appearance at the 2005 edition of the Wacken Open Air festival. 10

THE BURNING: 'Rewakening' Artwork UnveiledThe cover artwork for "Rewakening", the sophomore album from the hard-hitting Danish four-piece THE BURNING, can be viewed below. The image was created by Brazilian artist Mariano Villalba and is a combination of two pictures — "The Fury Of Rufus" and "Slave Angel".
Commented THE BURNING lead singer Johnny Haven: "We been a fan of Mariano's work for a long time, and this cover fits the new more epic songs and the lyrical theme of 'Rewakening' like a glove. And you can never go wrong with an old-school stone logo like that."

The vocals was recorded by Jacob Bredahl (ex-HATESPHERE) at Smart N' Hard.
Commented the band: "It's been two years since we wrote and recorded the last album, and obviously we have been honing our skills in that time, but eventhough there are a few surprises and a little more melody on 'Rewakening', we kept true to our roots; heavy aggressive groove metal."
"Rewakening" features a guest appearance by Bo Summer (ILLDISPOSED).
The track listing for the effort is as follows:
01. It Came From The North
02. Cloven Hoof
03. Carnivora
04. Eight Legged Omen

CARNAL FORGE Working On New MaterialSwedish thrashers CARNAL FORGE have issued the following update:
"Another strange year has passed in the history of CARNAL FORGE and all the thoughts of giving up because of disappointments with cancelled tours and broken trusts has run off... Once again, as they always tend to do in the end... Well, fuck you all for giving us hell and 'fuck yeah!' for those of you who have given us support! You know who you are! And we sure do!!! But let's not be bitter, let's save that for some sunny day...
"We have slowly started working on new material, but the process has been very slow as all of us have been busy in other stuff as we all need to stay alive... Mostly work, work and some more work... New job takes it's time... As we've experienced before, but this time we intend to keep this lineup... until we die or beyond that!
"Well, we will start off the New Year going to Finland for four shows, and that is really cool! Especially as we have some Finnish blood in the band. We've been to many places but never to our fellow neighbours for some reason.
"Soon we will record the vocals on a new track called 'Non Existence', and Dino [Medanhodzic; guitar] will put down some additional solos to Petri's [Kuusisto; guitar] stuff. So this will be the first time for you to hear the new lineup who haven't seen us live yet. We have finally got our little studio together so it's more 'cosy' than it has ever been before, as it has served mostly as a warehouse before. Dino was there recording some band from Gotland last week, and Petri just finished of the mixing of IRRITATION's new effort. There is still a lot of stuff to fix, but this is were we intend to record the next CARNAL FORGE album. The release is planned to January 2010.
"When the recording of the new song is done Dino will make a video for it... so stay put! The new and improved CF will kick some serious ass!!!" 1

FROSTMOON ECLIPSE Makes H.P. LOVECRAFT Tribute Tracks Available For StreamingFROSTMOON ECLIPSE, one of the oldest established bands on the Italian black metal scene, has made all three tracks from its contribution to the extremely limited "H.P. Lovecraft Series", available for streaming on their MySpace page until the end of January.
Released on God Is Myth Records at the end of 2008, FROSTMOON ECLIPSE's "I Am Providence" is volume six of the series dedicated to the writer H.P. Lovecraft. Each of the albums in the series features an individual band, and is limited to 100 copies of specially packaged three-inch CD-Rs.
The veteran black metallers, known for mixing thoughtful acoustic touches to their brand of old-school black metal, are all fans of Lovecraft, and, according to founder and guitarist Claudio Alcara, found the idea behind the series particularly interesting to work on. Alcara explained: "Two of the tracks, 'In The Vault' and 'The Thing On The Doorstep', were inspired by Lovecraft stories and the idea that people could actually listen to them whilst reading the stories is fascinating. The final track, 'Providence, 1937-03-15', is our tribute to this extraordinary writer who died much too soon."

EVERY TIME I DIE To Enter Studio In AprilVocalist Keith Buckley of Buffalo, New York's EVERY TIME I DIE has issued the following update:
"As of yesterday, January 12, we have officially begun writing the new record. Well let me rephrase that. Jordan [Buckley; guitar], Mike [Michael Novak; drums], Andy [Andrew Williams; guitar] and Josh [Newton; bass] have begin writing and I have just attained a level 23 ranking on Call Of Duty: World At War online. But that' not to say I have not been doing my part as I await to hear the demos of the songs as they begin filing in. I have, according to tradition, thrown myself into a tempestuous spiral of panic, doubt and self-loathing in the face of an impending creative venture that will ultimately shift public opinion of me to one extreme or another independent of my own faculties to control it. And still we do it for the kids. The irony. We will be taking a brief hiatus from the writing to play Poughkeepsie, New York; Plains, Pennsylvania; and Worcester, Massachusetts on January 29-31, then again between February 16 - March 4 to play shows in New Zealand and Australia before heading to the studio in California on April 1."
EVERY TIME I DIE has reportedly inked a deal with Epitaph Records.
In a July 2008 interview with U.K.'s Rock Sound magazine, EVERY TIME I DIE frontman Keith Buckley stated about the band's label situation, "Our latest album was the last thing we had to deliver for Ferret so we are in limbo. We are talking to some labels right now, I think people will be very pleased to know that it looks like we will not be signing with a major. Some were interested but I don't think we even got down to discussing deals, I know I would have signed a Shakira-esque 100 million dollar 360 deal but it never seemed to come up in conversation."
Chuck Stark of TheMetalUnion.com conducted an interview with Keith Buckley on August 9, 2008 at the Comcast Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts on the Vans Warped Tour. Watch the five-minute chat below.
EVERY TIME I DIE sold almost 14,000 copies of its last album, "The Big Dirty" (Ferret Music), in the United States in its first week of release in September 2007 to debut at position No. 41 on The Billboard 200 chart.
"The Big Dirty" was produced by Steve Evetts and was described by the band as "the CD you would compile if asked to make a mix of the best EVERY TIME I DIE songs you haven't heard yet. Ten-plus tracks that tore from our filthy hands like the creature that jumped out of that dude's stomach in 'Alien'."

10. Say Goodbye
Another evolutionary leap from the more commercial Americanism and electro leanings of 2004's "DiEversity" and heaviness of 2006's "Fatal Design", ENTWINE's latest step, "Painstained", presents an even more melody-oriented ENTWINE than any of its predecessors. The band has headed into yet another new direction. Layering Mika Tauriainen's melodic vocals over detuned and heavy guitars and the strong backbone of the Hanttu/Miettinen rhythm section, with "Painstained", ENTWINE has truly come into its own.
ENTWINE will release a "best-of" collection through the UK branch of Spinefarm Records sometime in 2009. The exact track listing for the CD has not yet been confirmed.
ENTWINE's fifth studio album, "Fatal Design", was released in September 2006 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Benelux via Century Media Records through a licensing deal with Spinefarm Records. The CD was recorded at Petrax and Groveland studios by ENTWINE drummer Aksu Hanttu and producer Janne Joutsenniemi (STONE, SUBURBAN TRIBE). The album was mixed at Finnvox by Mikko Karmila (NIGHTWISH, CHILDREN OF BODOM). 2
