Swedish melodic death metallers DARK TRANQUILLITY have issued the following update:

"Time to let you in on the plans for our upcoming ninth (or tenth, depending on how you count) full-length album. The as-yet-untitled beast will be recorded in September and October and released in early 2010 through Century Media Records.

"We'll keep the recording setup completely in-house this time. Drums will be tracked in Daniel Antonsson's [bass] studio, while the remaining instruments will be immortalized in Martin Brändström's [electronics] newly renovated Rogue music facilities. The mixing duties will once again be handled by Tue Madsen in his Antfarm studio in Denmark.

"As for the music itself, it's a bit too early to delve into details, but the material feels diverse and fresh and covers all the facets of the DARK TRANQUILLITY sound. Those who are familiar with our songwriting process know that we always keep re-arranging and experimenting with the material until the recording starts, and while we currently have the basic foundations for around 10 songs, many things are still open. The final result is likely to surprise ourselves as well as you people.

"Some tentative song titles are 'I Am The Void', 'Zero Distance', 'The Burden Of Love Alive', 'Archangelsk' and 'Memories In Reverse', though these are subject to change as usual."

DARK TRANQUILLITY's "Projector", "Haven" and "Damage Done" albums were re-released in a luxurious slipcase packaging with bonus material as well as the rarities compilation "Yesterworlds" on May 25, 2009 in Europe via Century Media Records. All releases are available at a fan-friendly price and also feature extensive liner notes as well as new layouts and designs by guitarist Niklas Sundin. As a very exclusive bonus, the three album reissues also contain one song each from the band's upcoming DVD, "Where Death Is Most Alive", due later this year. In addition, DARK TRANQUILLITY will release a limited-edition album entitled "Yesterworlds", featuring the "Trail Of Life Decayed" demo (1991) and the "A Moonclad Reflection" 7" EP (1992).

The new lineup of GORGOROTH has completed work on the band's ninth album, "Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt", due on October 21 in Europe and November 11 in the U.S. via Regain Records. The CD was recorded at Tomas Asklund's Monolith Studio and features Infernus on guitar, Frank Watkins (OBITUARY) on bass, Pest on vocals and Tomas Asklund on drums.

Since Infernus wrote all the music for the album and extensive rehearsals and a pre-production recording had also been completed before second guitarist Tormentor rejoined the band last year, it was decided that it would be more convenient for Infernus to record all the guitars on the LP.

"Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt" was produced by Infernus and co-produced/engineered by Tomas Asklund. It will be mastered at the Cutting Room in Stockholm later this month.

NEVERDICE, a unique Finnish band combining industrial beats, metal guitars and folk accordion, has released the ' target=_blank>video for the song "Praying In The Name Of" from the group's upcoming album, due later this year. The clip was shot by Janne Tamminen in Los Angeles and features Victoria De Mare, who has been acknowledged as "Hollywood's hottest scream queen" in the American media. One of her upcoming movies "Horrorween" includes cameo roles by legends like William Shatner, Jenna Jameson and Alice Cooper.

NEVERDICE has been touring successfully in its home country, warming up for industrial legends COMBICHRIST and other big names, and also around Europe. In 2008 they headlined "The Children Of The Night 5" festival in Kiev, Ukraine, which is the biggest East European gothic/industrial festival.

U.D.O., the German metal band fronted by former ACCEPT frontman Udo Dirkschneider, will release the follow-up to 2007's "Mastercutor", titled "Dominator", on August 21 via AFM Records.

Commented vocalist Cam Pipes: "We decided to cover 'Not Fragile' by BACHMAN-TURNER OVERDRIVE because they're a Canadian band and we wanted to represent our Canadian musical roots. BTO had many hits, but we wanted to do a deeper cut from their catalog plus 'Not Fragile' has a heavy driving riff at the core of the song which we felt translated well with our style.

"BLUE ÖYSTER CULT's 'Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll' is a song that our guitarist Justin had played the main riff to at soundcheck for a few years now and I guess it just got stuck in our heads, so we decided to learn it and record it. We've also been friends with ZEKE for many years and 'Daytona' has always been a favorite ZEKE song of ours. It's another one we've loosely jammed out in the rehearsal space and soundchecks before. Added guitarist Shane Clark: "Our new album is finished and we've named it 'Here Waits Thy Doom'. Much like our last record it is a step beyond the album that precedes it. We've again taken what we do a step further and not made 'Fire up the Blades Part 2', we've stuck to our formula — no formula. We are true metal fans and we've made an unapologetic metal record. I think this our most focused record to date, from writing all the way to mixing there was no unnecessary drama or too many cooks in the kitchen. Finnish metal band INSOMNIUM will release its fourth album, "Across The Dark" (cover), on September 7 via Candlelight Records. The CD was recorded at Fantom studio (where the group recorded its 2006 LP, "Above the Weeping World") and it features guest clean vocals by Jules Näveri (PROFANE OMEN, ENEMY OF THE SUN).

An e-card for "Across The Dark", which contains audio samples of three new songs — "Equivalence", "Down With The Sun" and "Where The Last Wave Broke" — is available at this location.

Guitarist Ville Friman previously described the new songs as follows: "One is really epic one with clock ticking almost over 10 minutes. Great song with vibe of last two AMORPHIS albums with more heavier edge and INSOMNIUM style of lead work. The second new song turned out to be quite long one as well but in my opinion this one holds more 'hit' potential in it, mainly because of simple arrangement and catchy melodies. Could be maybe described as being somewhere between 'Bereavement' and 'Last Statement'?!? Or what the hell I know; sounds good though. Third song sounds bit like a tribute to SENTENCED because the melodies bear similarity to the melancholy heard in 'Amok' or 'Down' albums. Otherwise the song is pretty slow, depressing and quite doomy. Just the way we like it. Fourth song ready is bit faster and riff-orientated. Composed partly in the last North American tour. Potentially a good live song. We'll see."

Acclaimed guitarist-turned-producer James Murphy (TESTAMENT, DEATH, OBITUARY) recently laid down two guest solos on the debut album STRUCTURE OF INHUMANITY, the band featuring PYRAMAZE keyboardist Jonah Weingarten. Entitled "Completion Integration", the CD is being produced by Murphy and SOILWORK guitarist Peter Wichers, who also makes a guest appearance on the record.

In addition to Weingarten, STRUCTURE OF INHUMANITY's lineup includes Clay Barton (SUSPYRE) and Eugene Smith (LEGION OF CARCAROTH). The band features "a dual vocal assault as well as blistering and insanely melodic melodies and solos" provided by Weingarten and axe-shredder Mike Iuzzolino, according to a press release.

According to the band's official bio, "The basic groundwork that became the foundation of the STRUCTURE OF INHUMANITY sound was melodic, epic, occasionally progressive, and over-the-top heavy metal, strongly rooted in the Swedish and Finnish sound, with a touch of American-style riffing. Influences ranging from SOILWORK, ICED EARTH, EDGE OF SANITY, ARCH ENEMY, CHILDREN OF BODOM, and, of course, PYRAMAZE can be heard."

The deluxe reissue of AMON AMARTH's "The Crusher" will see the light of day on September 1 in Europe via Metal Blade Records (August 29 in Germany, Switzerland and Austria).

"The Crusher" will be made available as a double-popup-digipak featuring two discs. Disc one features the entire "The Crusher" album remastered by Jens Bogren plus the bonus track "The Eyes Of Horror", which is a cover version of a song by POSSESSED. Disc two features the live recording of the show AMON AMARTH played on December 30, 2008 in Bochum, Germany where they performed "The Crusher" album in its entirety. The order of songs is the same as on disc one (excluding "The Eyes Of Horror").

"The Crusher" reissue will be made available as an eight-sided double-digipak with an individual pop-up. All four pop-ups attached to each other show a special three-dimensional image. The reissue also features liner notes by AMON AMARTH.

ENGEL completed work on its sophomore album at PUK studio in Gjerlev, Denmark with producer Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, HIMSA, SICK OF IT ALL). The band is currently seeking a new label home following its split with SPV Records which issued ENGEL's debut album, "Absolute Design", in 2007.

"Absolute Design" received its long-awaited U.S. release on May 20, 2008 via SPV/Steamhammer.

IN FLAMES frontman Anders Fridén helped his old friend Niclas (they both played together in PASSENGER) record demos and assisted in the production of the "Absolute Design" CD at Dug-Out Studios in Uppsala with Daniel Bergstrand (producer of IN FLAMES, MESHUGGAH).

Austrian blackened death metal outfit BELPHEGOR has completed work on its eighth full-length studio album, "Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn", due in October via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2008's "Bondage Goat Zombie" was recorded at Andy Classen's (LEGION OF THE DAMNED, DEW-SCENTED, NEAERA, ASPHYX) Stage One Studios in Kassel, Germany.

Commented frontman Helmuth: "With these nine compositions/arrangements, we continue to piss on the damn mainstream. It's BELPHEGOR to the highest; the hymns are extremely varied, more intense and epic than ever, [and] there are new elements and structures added. Also, we used some haunting samples here and there, to give the album a cold and ritualistic feel."

He continued, "On 'Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn', you will hear my most fucked up vocals to date; also the lyrical content is offensive and insane. The witch/devil concept is amazing to work with and we used alot of original chants/ incantations from archaic scripts."

BELPHEGOR has tapped Brazilian artist Marcelo Hvc to handle the graphics for the new album. Marcelo has already begun working on the cover art and "some magickal images," according to a press reelase.

Added Serpenth: "The idea is to capture the okkultic orgiastic processions from the Broken Mountain, the Walpurgis night in the images."

ARKAEA — the new band featuring FEAR FACTORY members Christian Olde Wolbers (guitar) and Raymond Herrera (drums) — is currently streaming a new track, "Awakening", on the group's MySpace page. The song comes off ARKAEA's debut album, "Years In The Darkness", which will be released in Europe through Century Media Records on the following dates:

The album was mastered at Sterling Sound by Ted Jensen, who mastered FEAR FACTORY's gold-certified 1998 release "Obsolete".

The mastering was handled by Bjørn Engelmann at the Cutting Room in Sweden.

"Forever Is The World" will be available in three different versions: a limited digipack with one bonus song, a very limited double vinyl version with two bonus tracks (one exclusive to the vinyl edition!) and a regular jewelcase.

THEATRE OF TRAGEDY's last album, "Storm", was released in March 2006 via AFM Records. The CD was produced by Rico Darum and mixed by Greg Reely (PARADISE LOST, FEAR FACTORY, FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY, SKINNY PUPPY, etc.) at The Green Jacket studios in Richmond, B.C., Canada. The album was the group's first to feature singer Nell (THE CREST), who replaced Liv Kristine Espenaes Krull (currently in LEAVES' EYES) in early 2004.

Norway's THE KONSORTIUM has parted ways with its guitarist and is currently seeking a replacement. Interested parties can get in touch with the band by writing to info(at)konsortium.net.

THE KONSORTIUM recently inked a two-album deal with Agonia Records. The band's full-length debut is tentatively due before the end of 2009.

According to a press release, THE KONSORTIUM performs "black metal with various thrash, avant-garde and non-metal influences creating [its] own atmosphere and identity. THE KONSORTIUM features various members. Some of them better and some of them [not as well] known to the metal (but not only) community."

Irish dark metal masters PRIMORDIAL will reissue their 1998 "Journey's End" album on September 1 in Europe via Metal Blade Records (August 29 in Germany, Switzerland and Austria). This deluxe reissue features the remastered version of "Journey's End" plus a high-quality live recording of the band's December 9, 1999 concert in Lisbon, Portugal. It comes as a double digipak package in a precious black linen slipcase with glossy golden hot foil print, containing a six-page digipak with the original artwork, the two discs and a 16-page booklet with new liner notes and additional photos.

RussiaToday.com reports that a Russian court has fined British rockers DEEP PURPLE for "illegally" performing their own songs. Bloggers have already called the decision "fantastic in its idiocy."

The concert in question took place on October 19, 2008 in Russia's southern city of Rostov-on-Don.

According to the court's ruling, the musicians — Ian Gillan, Ian Paice and Roger Glover — should have obtained a license from the all-Russian NGO, "Russian Authors' Society" for the public performance of any of their songs. The organization represents the rights of foreign performers in Russia — even without these performers giving the NGO permission to represent them.

Vocalist Jape Peratalo of Finnish gothic metallers TO/DIE/FOR — who announced their breakup in April 2009 — has issued the following update:

"I just have to let this train go on! I have been in contact with Tonmi Lillman [TO/DIE/FOR drummer] very often now, and we really are on fire again! So... TO/DIE/FOR will CONTINUE! But when our next album comes? We do not know, but it may be in 2010.

"I can already tell you that next cover song (as we always do) is gonna be DURAN DURAN, and the song called 'Of Crime And Passion'. We will do our own version [of] it, yeahhhh...

"This really feels crazy but I just can't help myself after these fucking great 'inspirationfilled' moments I got after talking with Tonmi.

"I really thought I will stop doing TO/DIE/FOR forever... but I just can't. I love it too much anyway!"

"I Like It", the new video from the Italian rock/metal outfit LACUNA COIL, can be viewed here. GREYMACHINE, the collaborative effort between Justin Broadrick (JESU, GODFLESH, NAPALM DEATH, FINAL, TECHNO ANIMAL, HEAD OF DAVID, GOD, CURSE OF THE GOLDEN VAMPIRE), Dave Cochrane (HEAD OF DAVID, GOD, ICE), Diarmuid Dalton (JESU, GODFLESH) and Aaron Turner (ISIS, HOUSE OF LOW CULTURE, MAMIFFER, JODIS, OLD MAN GLOOM, LOTUS EATERS, DRAWING VOICES, THE HOLLOMEN, UNION SUIT), will release its debut album, "Disconnected", on August 4 via Hydra Head.

Ireland's FOR RUIN has completed work on its second album, "Last Light", for a late 2009 release via Sentinel Records. The CD was recorded in Cork with Alwyn Walker of Komodo Studios and it will feature artwork by Paul McCarroll who has previously worked with PRIMORDIAL, among others.

DESTRUCTION recently completed the "D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N. - 25 Years Of Total Destruction" North American trek with KRISIUN and MANTIC RITUAL.

"D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N.", the new album from DESTRUCTION, last year entered the Media Control chart in the band's home country at position No. 65. The CD was released on August 22, 2008 via AFM Records and features guest appearances by Gary Holt (EXODUS), Jeff Waters (ANNIHILATOR) and Vinnie Moore (UFO).

Finnish metallers CHILDREN OF BODOM will release a new album, titled "Skeletons In The Closet", in the fall through Spinefarm Records. The follow-up to last year's "Blooddrunk" is a selection of cover versions, some of them existing recordings, others specially laid down for this release.

CHILDREN OF BODOM has been recording covers since the early days of its career, some predictably heavy ("Silent Scream" by SLAYER, for example), others reflecting an altogether broader taste ("Talk Dirty To Me" by POISON).
