AVANTASIA: 'Lost In Space' Video Posted OnlineThe video for the song "Lost in Space" from EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet's AVANTASIA project can be viewed here. Also available is an eight-minute EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for the forthcoming six-track albums from AVANTASIA — "Lost in Space Part 1" and "Lost in Space Part 2". Apart from the identical title track, both releases (which are due on November 16) will feature completely different, exclusive songs plus videos, a poster, studio reports, a "making-of," a slideshow, and loads of enhanced bonus material, each for the price of a CD single.
The track listing for the two EPs is as follows:
"Lost in Space Part 1":
01. Lost In Space (mp3 clip)
02. Lay All Your Love On Me
03. Another Angel Down (feat. Jorn Lande)
04. The Story Ain't Over (feat. Bob Catley & Amanda Somerville)
05. Return To Avantasia
06. Ride The Sky (feat. Eric Singer on vocals)
07. Lost In Space (video clip)
08. Lost In Space (making of the video clip)
09. Photo Gallery + Poster
"Lost in Space Part 2":
01. Lost In Space
02. Promised Land (feat. Jorn Lande and Michael Kiske) (mp3 clip)
03. Dancing With Tears In My Eyes
04. Scary Eyes
05. In My Defense
06. Lost In Space (alive at Gate studio, feat. Amanda Somerville)
07. The Road To Avantasia (studio report with interview)
08. Slideshow
According to Tobias, the material on the two EPs is top notch and could have easily made it to the album as well. But because there is so much material they have decided to put out those two releases instead of a regular single or EP.
AVANTASIA's full-story album, "The Scarecrow", will be released at end of January next year via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD is expected to feature guest appearances by the following artists:
Alice Cooper (vocals)
Amanda Somerville (vocals)
Bob Catley (MAGNUM; vocals)
Jorn Lande (ex-MASTERPLAN; vocals)
Kai Hansen (GAMMA RAY; guitar)
Michael Kiske (ex-HELLOWEEN; vocals)
Oliver Hartmann
Roy Khan (KAMELOT; vocals)
Rudolf Schenker (SCORPIONS; guitar)
"The Scarecrow" track listing:
01. Twisted Mind
02. The Scarecrow
03. Shelter From The Rain
04. Carry Me Over
05. What Kind Of Love
06. Another Angel Down
07. The Toy Master
08. Devil In The Belfry
09. Cry Just A Little
10. I Don't Believe In Your Love
11. Lost In Space
AVANTASIA will perform at next year's Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place July 31 - August 2, 2008 in Wacken, Germany. Also scheduled to appear are IRON MAIDEN (headliners), CHILDREN OF BODOM and KREATOR.
In a recent interview, Sammet described the music on the new AVANTASIA CD as "diversified, pomp metal with some classic rock elements, Classic orchestrated moments and Celtic stuff, a big timeless production and so on and so forth. It's going to consist of many different elements. Bombastic kick-ass music with a lot of heart and depth."
Check out photos from the recording sessions at this location.
The new AVANTASIA album will be a concept album featuring different singers singing different characters in a story. But the concept itself won't be a sequel to the first two AVANTASIA albums.
AVANTASIA's last release was the two-part epic called "The Metal Opera" (issued in 2001 and 2002), which featured an impressive array of guest vocalists playing the various characters of the opera, including Michael Kiske (ex-HELLOWEEN), David DeFeis (VIRGIN STEELE), Sharon Den Adel (WITHIN TEMPTATION), Kai Hansen (GAMMA RAY), André Matos (ANGRA, SHAAMAN), Timo Tolkki (STRATOVARIUS), Rob Rock (WARRIOR), and others. 3

PARADISE LOST Films 'Unreachable' VideoUK gothic metal pioneers PARADISE LOST filmed the newest promotional video for the "In Requiem" album, for the song "Unreachable", on Tuesday, November 6 at Woodland Hills, Sherman Oaks, Glendale and Malibu, California. The clip was directed by Diran Noubar of Karmantra/Kayane Productions, who directed the soon-to-be-released "Over the Madness" documentary about PARADISE LOST, as well as the video for the song "Baby" for Serj Tankian (SYSTEM OF A DOWN).
PARADISE LOST recently released the video for the song "Praise Lamented Shade", taken from the band's latest CD, "In Requiem", which was issued via Century Media Records in May 2007. The clip was filmed during PARADISE LOST's April 2007 show at Koko in London (a concert which was filemd for an upcoming DVD) and was directed by Dash Productions (who worked with people such as STEVEN SEAGAL, GARY NUMAN, LEVEL 42, PAUL RODGERS, RICK ASTLEY, HEAVEN 17, THE DAMNED, MARC ALMOND, DEXY'S MIDNIGHT RUNNERS and many more). 2

NINE INCH NAILS' TRENT REZNOR: 'I Would Like People To Support Artists' The Pulse of Radio reports: NINE INCH NAILS founder and frontman Trent Reznor has spoken to CNet about the future of his own work and the way that music will be distributed to consumers in the future. Reznor recently parted with Interscope Records after fulfilling his contract and is also issuing a new album by friend Saul Williams through his own imprint as a digital release. Reznor discussed his rationale behind all this, explaining, "Personally, I would like people to support artists. After all, we as artists dedicate our lives to producing the best music we can...should I be angry at the audience that wants to hear music so much, an audience that is so passionate about hearing it they go online to get it two weeks before the music debuts? No, I want them to be that way."
Reznor acknowledges basing the release of Williams' record, "The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust", on RADIOHEAD's recent online debut of its new effort, "In Rainbows". Reznor told CNet that he thought RADIOHEAD's idea was an "exciting way to sell a record," adding, "I think there were some serious flaws with how they executed but it was a good idea."
Reznor admitted that he can't predict the future of music distribution, saying, "I don't know what model is going to work. I do know relationships between music labels and artists like myself aren't going well...Their treatment of artists has less sympathy and it's more like 'What can we get out of you?' My only concern has always been that my audience is treated fairly."
"The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust" became available for download on Thursday (November 1) NiggyTardust.com.
Reznor is also working on a follow-up to the latest NINE INCH NAILS album, "Year Zero".

KING DIAMOND: 'Give Me Your Soul' Video In Final Editing PhaseKING DIAMOND's video for the song "Give Me Your Soul" is now in the final editing phase and is expected to be released around Halloween. The band's first clip in 17 years was shot in September with director Bill Schacht from video company Aestheticom, which has previously worked with DIO, ALICE COOPER and DREAM THEATER, among other artists. Speaking to MTV.com, the group's frontman/namesake — who is currently suffering from a herniated disc — said about the video shoot, "They limited what I had to do, of course, so I only did one day of shooting for 90 minutes, but just standing there moving a little bit in the full outfit was very difficult. And afterwards, I got one of those sharp attacks of pain that I hadn't had in a month and a half. The only thing I can compare it to is a really super-bad toothache or earache. And afterwards, I was like, 'OK, I'm not ready [to tour] yet.' "
KING DIAMOND's latest album, "Give Me Your Soul ... Please" entered the Swedish national chart at position No. 28. The CD also landed at No. 58 on the Danish chart (the second highest new entry on the chart behind VELVET REVOLVER).
"Give Me Your Soul ... Please" sold 4,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 174 on The Billboard 200 chart.

SIRENIA Launches Vocalist SearchNorwegian gothic metal band SIRENIA has launched a vocalist search following the recent departure of Danish singer Monika Pedersen due to "musical differences." "We are looking for a talented singer with experience, a cool image and a strong passion for music," the group says in a statement. "Someone who is willing to give the band a high priority for many years to come. Please send us a biography, some recent photos and an mp3/wma file of your voice. If you have your own MySpace site, send us the link."
All submissions should be sent to singer@sirenia.no.
Commented Monika: "After much consideration I have chosen to leave SIRENIA, but I will continue with music. The reason is that we have too many musical differences, and I don't feel like it's the right band for me. I have had a great time in the band, lots of good experiences and only wish the best for the band in the future.
"I want to send a big 'thank you' to all the fans for your support — you haven't heard the last of me!"
The band added: "As a result of these circumstances SIRENIA will have to pull out of the planned European tour with THERION. The show in Athens will be postponed until May 2008. You have our apologies for this, SIRENIA will be back on the road next year. We will use the coming months to find a new singer, as well as composing music for our next album."
SIRENIA's new album, "Nine Destinies and a Downfall", entered the German Media Control chart in March at position No. 54. The album was recorded at Jailhouse studios in Norway with engineer Hans Eidsgard and Soundsuite studios in France with Terje Refsnes and was mixed and mastered at Antfarm studios in Aarhus, Denmark with Tue Madsen.
SIRENIA's video for the song "The Other Side" can be viewed here. The clip was helmed by the renowed Serbian production company I-Code (DEATHSTARS, HAMMERFALL, BLIND GUARDIAN, SCAR SYMMETRY), which previously worked with the group on the "My Mind's Eye" video. 8

NEVERMORE Frontman Continuing Work On Solo AlbumNEVERMORE frontman Warrel Dane has issued an update on his upcoming debut solo album, which is tentatively due in early 2008. Dane has written about eight tracks with former SOILWORK guitarist-turned-producer Peter Wichers and has also collaborated with ex-HIMSA guitarist Matt Wicklund on a few songs.
Stated Dane: "Hello from Nashville! Matt Wicklund is starting guitar tracks today [Wednesday, October 31]. Peter is pretty much done with most of his guitar parts. Things are starting to shape up. I'm having a great time getting to know the locals here.
"One thing that just made me want to die from laughter... I'm at Jack In The Box getting breakfast and these two old guys with accents so thick you could cut them with a knife are sitting next to me, totally drunk at about 10 am, bitching about how their wives can't cook, 'nothing gets cooked in my house unless she does it, but ya know what I can cook a hot dog..... damn, all you gotta do is boil water...well, I'll tell ya what, I can still cook a hamburger when she passes out.' I almost fell off my chair..."
In a September 2006 interview with Metal-Rules.com, Dane stated about the upcoming solo CD, "I've been working on it for like the last year off and on, just writing songs with Peter Wichers, and at some point we'll finish them then go in the studio . . . It doesn't sound like NEVERMORE, and I think, you know, if it did, there wouldn't be much point in doing a side project. If it sounded like NEVERMORE I think it would be a little redundant . . . Of course it's metal! Kind of like metal-infused hard rock, I think. It's different and it's a chance for me to explore myself — explore myself in other ways! [laughs] Well, for me, and for Peter from SOILWORK as well, it was kind of a chance for us both to 'step outside the box,' because people expect a certain thing from both those bands and with this we don't have to fulfill any expectations. We can do whatever we want."

Steve Scott will fly to Italy this week to put down his bass parts and then Steve Williams [keyboards] and Richard West [THRESHOLD] will fly out on November 12th to record vocals and keyboards, with Richard handling production duties on vocals and keyboards. Meanwhile, Steve Williams has just returned from Poland after taking part in the rock opera 'She', which was written by Clive Nolan and performed by Caamora. The live DVD of the Caamora performance will be released on January 28, 2008 by Metal Mind Productions."
POWER QUEST recently inked a deal with Napalm Records. The band is recording its fourth album, tentatively titled "Master of Illusion", at Remaster Studio in Vicenza, Italy. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Hearts and Voices", "The Vigil", "The Right Place and the Wrong Time", "Count My Sins" and "The Tragedy Suite".

The band's debut, "Wings of Forever", was released in 2002 and features "Far Away", a real favorite download track among the fans. For the first time ever the album includes two of the group's original demo tracks — never before released, making this reissue a real collector's item. "NeverWorld" hit the streets in 2003 in Japan and 2004 in Europe. The catchy title track is the storming encore of most live appearances whilst the DVD gives you a chance to catch POWER QUEST at one of their earliest live appearances in 2004. These twin re-releases have been repackaged with extended sleeve notes and new artwork. They are available through Majestic Rock and their European distribution channels or the POWER QUEST online store.

DARKTHRONE Completes Recording Two New TracksNocturno Culto of the long-running Norwegian black metallers DARKTHRONE has issued the following update:
"OK, here we go again. DARKTHRONE's album 'F.O.A.D.' is now released (what a fucking masterpiece (?)) But do we rest now? Of course not. Last weekend we recorded two new songs for next album...that has a name, but I can't reveal just yet, sorry. I'm all exited AGAIN. As usual DARKTHRONE is going their own way, usually AGAINST the stream, we're getting praise/slaughtered for doing so, but in the end we are sure our albums will last longer than a decade....HAH. Right, and Dani Pedrosa did win in front of his home-crowd at Catalunya today, good for him, but where were Mr. Capirossi???"
DARKTHRONE's latest album, "F.O.A.D.", was released in September via Peaceville. An EP, "NWOBHM" (New Wave Of Black Heavy Metal), preceded the full-length CD on July 23. 10

DECAPITATED: MySpace Tribute To VITEK In The WorksThe following message was posted on the official DECAPITATED MySpace page:
"As we mourn the passing of our dear friend Vitek, we are working together to create something special in his memory. More pictures and videos from our personal collections will be added, and a fully functional profile with updates all about DECAPITATED and Witold 'Vitek' Kieltyka are under way, so please check back often. To all the people and bands out there that have shown their support through these difficult times, thank you so much. It really means a lot to us."
Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka died in a Russian hospital from injuries sustained in a recent road collision. He was 23 years old.
Vitek and DECAPITATED singer Covan (real name: Adrian Kowanek) were hurt in an accident earlier in the week involving DECAPITATED's tour bus and a truck carrying wood in Gomel, on the Russia/Belarus border. Both musicians reportedly sustained serious head injuries in the collision, which is believed to have been the fault of the band's driver (although this has not yet been officially confirmed).
The following message was posted on DECAPITATED's official web site:
"Witold 'Vitek' Kieltyka — our brother and dearest friend — succumbed to head injuries sustained after a bad van accident while on tour in Russia. He was 23.
"One of the youngest and most promising drummers in the genre, together with DECAPITATED he has consistently released albums both crushing and invigorating in their musicianship. Extremely talented — he has been involved in other side projects: DIES IRAE, PANZER X. He will be missed and cannot be replaced.
"The metal scene will be much sorrier with his passing…"
