MAX CAVALERA Contemplating Surprising Former SEPULTURA Bandmates With Phone CallSOULFLY/ex-SEPULTURA frontman Max Cavalera spoke to Björn Gieseler of the German radio station Radio T on Sunday, August 19 about his current project with his younger brother (and former SEPULTURA bandmate) Igor (tentatively dubbed THE CAVALERA CONSPIRACY) and the possibility of a reunion of the classic SEPULTURA lineup in the not-too-distant future.
When asked if he would be willing to reconnect with the SEPULTURA members Andreas Kisser (guitar) and Paul Xisto Pinto Jr. (bass) if they tried to reach out to him after all these years of not talking to each other, Max said, "I've been thinking about this a lot and I think that maybe I should do that with them like Igor did with me — just call them [out of the blue one day] and surprise them. Maybe that's the real way to fix the things between SEPULTURA and maybe there'll be some kind of cool reunion… put all the bullshit aside. Let's see [what happens]… because, you know, I regard Andreas and Paulo and Igor as more than just friends. Igor is my brother, but Andreas and Paulo are very close and they share very big, strong moments with me that many people have not shared."
On whether a reunion of the classic SEPULTURA lineup is possible, Max said, "I think it's possible — nothing is impossible — but I say that it's something that's not gonna [happen] so quick[ly]. In terms of music, [the rest of] this year is gonna be [taken up by] finishing the [SOULFLY] tours, finishing [the project with Igor] so fans can hear this kick-ass record, next year make a new SOULFLY [album], and then hopefully sometime after that a reunion, sure. Of course everybody knows I like the idea."
When asked if he would ever consider moving back to Brazil after living in Phoenix, Arizona for the past 16 years, Max said, "I like where I live, but I miss Brazil as well. I'm not a very selfish guy, so where I live is not really for me, it's more for my family, especially my sons. I live there so they can have a better shot in life, get better things in life than the choices I had. After they're [all grown up], yeah. I like the PINK FLOYD [way of doing things] — put an album out every couple of years and live in a faraway part of the world — yeah, that sounds cool. Maybe Brazil — north of Brazil would be nice. But always keep making music — never stop making music." 5

AC/DC's Ultimate Career-Spanning DVD Box Set 'Plug Me In' Due In October Columbia Records will release "Plug Me In" — the ultimate career-spanning DVD box set of live performances, interviews and more from AC/DC, the world's most electrifying rock and roll band — on Tuesday, October 16.
The first AC/DC release since the band came to Columbia Records earlier this year, the AC/DC "Plug Me In" DVD collection brings together for the very first time an astonishing five hours of definitive live concert and television performances — many of them previously unavailable — chronicling the ongoing career (now in its fourth decade!) of a groundbreaking rock and roll powerhouse whose music transcends the test of time.
"AC/DC has delivered the most dynamic rock and roll music in the world," said Steve Barnett, Chairman, Columbia Records. "Columbia is honored to be releasing this definitive career-spanning retrospective featuring many of AC/DC's finest filmed performances."
Disc One of the AC/DC "Plug Me In" DVD collection begins with a performance of "High Voltage" performed in October 1975 on Australia's "King of Pop" awards show. The first disc of "Plug Me In" is devoted to the band's formative years (1975-1979) with the late Bon Scott capturing the group in its full early glory with more than 20 performances including rare black-and-white video footage of the notorious St. Albans High School concert on March 3, 1976; the very first UK television appearance in July 1976; pristine live full-color stereo concert performances from Glasgow and Essex University in 1978; and three songs — including the very first public performance of "Highway To Hell" — from Netherlands television in 1979. Bonus material on Disc One includes a Bon Scott interview from November 1977; extraordinary band interviews from 1976; and four songs recorded live in Nice on December 15, 1979, one of Bon Scott's last concerts with the band before his tragic death on February 19, 1980.
Disc Two of the AC/DC "Plug Me In" DVD collection covers the band's second great epoch: the Brian Johnson era which began with the release of "Back In Black" in 1980 and continues to this day. In addition to more than 20 performances drawn from three decades of concerts around the world — including an extremely rare Japanese television appearance from February 1981, blistering '80s and '90s sets from Detroit to Moscow, incredible footage from 1996's "Ballbreaker" tour (including the "Beavis & Butthead" intro), and 21st century barnburners in Paris, Munich, and Toronto — "Plug Me In" includes a fantastic array of bonus material including the AC/DC Donnington interview on the "Old Grey Whistle Test" (August 1984) and AC/DC's in-concert performance of "Rock Me Baby" with THE ROLLING STONES.
A deluxe collector's edition of "Plug Me In" — containing a third DVD of 21 additional rare performances spanning both the Bon Scott and Brian Johnson eras as well as a treasure trove of facsimile reproductions of authentic AC/DC memorabilia — will also be available for a limited time beginning Tuesday, October 16.
The AC/DC "Plug Me In" DVD box set is both a Holy Grail for aficionados of AC/DC as well as an ideal and comprehensive introduction to the music and history of a pioneering band that continues to define the electrifying possibilities of rock and roll.
Formed in Sydney, Australia in 1973 by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young (still the most formidable electric guitar team in rock), AC/DC released its first album, "High Voltage", in 1975. The group has gone on to sell nearly 70 million albums in the U.S. alone, making AC/DC one of the five best-selling bands in American music history. The "Back In Black" album has achieved RIAA double diamond status, for sales in excess of 21 million copies in the United States, and is the U.S.'s fifth largest-selling album ever. 5

MORDICHRIST: 'The Bones Behind The Flesh'MORDICHRIST, the Swedish black metal band featuring DARK FUNERAL guitarist Chaq Mol, has issued the following update:
"We know this is unusual, that a band lets their fans listen to a song that not is finished yet. But who said that we are normal? We just want you to know what's happening in the MORDICHRIST clan and that we still working on new material. This song is far from finished, it's just guitar, vocals and a drum machine. We just show the bones behind the flesh."
Listen to the track on the band's MySpace page
In other news, MORDICHRIST will appear in an upcoming documentary about black metal, to be released in the fall. More information will be made available soon.
MORDICHRIST recently tapped drummer Erik Sayenga (ex-DYING FETUS, WITCH-HUNT, LACERATION) to play on the band's upcoming full-length debut, due next year via Regain Records.

THERION Side-Project DEMONOID Working On New MaterialDEMONOID, the Swedish old-school death/thrash metal project featuring THERION members Kristian Niemann (guitar) and Johan Niemann (bass) along with former SOILWORK/CHIMAIRA drummer Richard Evensand, is working on material for its second full-length CD, tentatively due next year. "The writing for the new album is going quite well....it will crush," says Kristian. "Of course. Imagine a 100-ton block of concrete falling on your nutsack (or head, if you're a girl)....that's how much it will crush!!!!! Now if you don't have: a) a nutsack, nor b) a head, well then.....you just have to take my word for it!"
In other news, DEMONOID has secured the services of a new vocalist following the departure of THERION's Christofer Johnsson, who sang on the group's debut, 2004's "Riders of the Apocalypse". Although the band has yet to reveal the new frontman's identity, "I think you will all agree it's a pretty good choice," says Kristian. "We're very fortunate to have him. In fact, I wet myself every night just thinking about it. The man, the myth, the legend..."
According to the band's official bio, "the musical concept of DEMONOID is not symphonic metal like THERION; in fact, the band strived to go back in time and create a fresh and challenging combination of basically old school death and violent thrash metal elements, also mingled with a touch of modern black metal. Both Kristian and Johan have gotten into the more brutal forms of metal quite lately and some of their references are CRADLE OF FILTH and DIMMU BORGIR, while Christofer, having been the growler of THERION in earlier days, has extended knowledge of the thrash and death scene from late '80s and early '90s. Thus bands like SLAYER and BATHORY as well as all the old-school death metal bands from those the early times rank among his main references. Those facts create a very interesting combination, featuring Kristian's more than awesomely awesome guitar work, Christofer's by far best vocal performances up to now, Richard's insanely powerful and technical kick-ass drumming and Johan's crushing, inventive, heavy-as-a-brick-on-your-scrotum bass lines." 1

THE BERZERKER Seeking Touring Guitarist THE BERZERKER's Luke Kenny has issued the following update:
"Unfortunately, the guitarist I was working with in Brisbane didn't work out. So there is now a position available for a long-term/full-time touring guitarist. But please, before you even contact me about this, the reason I am looking for new people is very simple:
* My normal guys can't get enough time off work, with out losing their jobs to tour.
* They don't want to be away from loved ones for extended periods of time.
* They can earn more money working their day jobs.
"And that's it really. They could play the material with no problems and we all get along very well. It just touring is hard on relationships and finances. If after reading that, you are a guitarist that wants to show the world how good you really are, THE BERZERKER is the perfect vehicle for you.
"No drugo's, drunks, egotistical attitudes (Fuck…if NAPALM DEATH don't have egos and they started this whole thing 20 years ago neither should you...). Must be easy going, punctual, dedicated to both your craft and the band, ready to drop everything and work hard to refine your skills. Please feel free to contact me at lukeberzerker@gmail.com and remember I live in Melbourne, Australia. You may even have a chance to work on writing and recording new BERZERKER material."
THE BERZERKER, THE AMENTA (Australia), AKERCOCKE (UK) and FLESHGORE (Ukraine) will team up for Australia's Festival Of The Dead '07 tour in October.

SILENT FORCE Guitarist Putting Finishing Touches On Solo AlbumSILENT FORCE guitarist Alex Beyrodt is putting the finishing touches on his first solo album which will be released under the VOODOO CIRCLE banner. Due next year, the CD will feature contributions from vocalist David Readman (PINK CREAM 69), drummer Mel Gaynor (SIMPLE MINDS, GARY MOORE, BRIAN MAY, ELTON JOHN), bassist Rudy Sarzo (, DIO, WHITESNAKE) and keyboardists Jimmy Kresic and Richard Andersson (MAJESTIC).
In a recent interview with The Mayfair Mall, Beyrodt stated about his upcoming solo album,"[ Mel] played in SAMSON when Bruce Dickinson was in the band; he's also played with Gary Moore and Brian May. He lives over here in Germany and I'm very proud to say he's become a great friend of mine... We have a guy also who looks like Jon Lord and plays like Jon Lord, and there's me. It's even more vintage than SILENT FORCE. It's been too long and it needs to be done. I really enjoy this style, you know?! To me, there's no band nowadays that play in that style; DEEP PURPLE, RAINBOW, the old masters of course still do, particularly DEEP PURPLE, of course, but I feel really proud to be able to put my own interpretation on it."
SILENT FORCE's fourth album, "Walk the Earth", was released in Europe in February via AFM Records (the CD was issued in the U.S. on May 22 via Locomotive)). The German label has also reissued the band's first two albums — "The Empire of Future" (2000) and "Infatuator" (2001). "The Empire of Future" contains an acoustic version of the song "Saints and Sinners" as a bonus, while "Infatuator" includes a bonus live video of the title track.

KORPIKLAANI sign with Nuclear BlastThe Finnish Folk-Metal tribe of KORPIKLAANI are the latest addition to the Nuclear Blast familiy! The guys signed a worldwide contract and we are all looking forward to the upcoming releases of this outstanding band. The six men from the woods have issued the following statement about this joyful occasion:
"Once upon a time were the merry men of Korpiklaani on a tour somewhere in Europe, drinking beer in the bus on the road from here to there. Between the beers there was also some talk about our future. On the small bus table, half hidden under the dog-eared deck of cards, coins and empty bottles, there was a BLAST! magazine. This catalog of Nuclear Blast had seen better days. It had already server as a beermat, ashtray and toilet entertainment, even though the language was totally incomprehensible to us.
Our highly intelligent conversation moved to record companies and we started to wonder which one of them would the best for us. Jonne happened to set his bleary eyes on the scruffy magazine and asked if
anyone knew any band that had left Nuclear Blast. There was a silence. No one knew and we saw that it was good. That's when we first got the idea that Nuclear Blast would actually be a great company for us as well. It must be a good home for bands because no one ever leaves. The
idea of us and them still felt distant and unrealistic.
As the time passed, our small and ugly folkmetal band gained more success, slowly but steadily, and played more and more concerts. And behold, one day we got a word from our own charge d'affaires, Matte, that one of the best is interested in us, Nuclear Blast. Our first meeting was in Germany, the land of... eh... well, Germans.
We were prepared to meet bald, fat businessmen in their black three-piece suits with briefcases full of contract papers. We couldn't find any. Instead of that there some smiling folkmetal loving fellows with pints in their hands. And then we heard the magic words: "You guys want some beer?" 1

TIAMAT Begins Recording New AlbumTIAMAT mainman Johan Edlund ha issued the following update:
"Last night I got back home [to Greece] from a week of [TIAMAT] rehearsals and some days of drum recordings [for the new album] in Sweden. The trip turned into a quite personal trauma and a few tears left my eyes while careening through red mist and dust of the Greek forest fires when entering Greek airspace on my late night flight from Prague back to Macedonia, but luckily — after a few days of worrying — my close and loved ones in the south of Greece are OK and most fires are heavily bondaged by heroic firefighters of all Europe. Bless them!
"Rehearsals went fine, thanks to small little brown bottles wrapped in paper with joyfully slogans printed on them. We had a few drunken nights in Stockholm and I managed to see my team Hammarby lose against a non-team from the west coast.
"A few days later me and Lars [Skold, drums] went to the west coast. To a small little town called Varberg, to be precise, just outside the anus of Sweden that some people still call Gothenburg (the city most known for an ugly building that looks like a lipstick, which they call… the lipstick).
"Though beer drinking was still on the agenda, we didn't go down there for watching football, nor fishing, but to record our animalistic maniac behind the drums in Studio Mega."
Check out photos from the recording studio at this location.
TIAMAT recently inked a new deal with Nuclear Blast Records. The band's last studio album, "Prey", was released in 2003 through Century Media. 8

In regards to the direction of the new album, the band recently stated via its official site, "Many of you have been waiting for sound, and we are sorry for the silence. We needed to be alone, without the hustle and bustle of the living. We are uncomfortable with the world, the industry and our place. We have been working, sluggishly, well aware we could end up with nothing. Nonetheless we believe we have succeeded in giving our fears some kind of form. We feel it is our most personal record to date. Low-key, dark, and tragic. As we are."
