SCORPIONS To Release New Album Next MayVeteran German hard rockers SCORPIONS have posted the following message on their official web site:
"We are looking forward to the Wacken [Open Air] show where we are going to play with our old friends, Michael [Schenker], Uli [Jon Roth] and Hermann [Rarebell]. This is going to be a very special event. If you are surprised that the set list voting for the Wacken show took place on the festival page vs. our official web site this is because we wanted to get a feel for what the audience of the festival wanted to hear. Presumably, the new album will be released in May 2007. We'll keep you posted as details become more clear."
SCORPIONS have reportedly tapped songwriter/producer Desmond Child — who has worked with such high-profile pop/rock artists as AEROSMITH, BON JOVI, ALICE COOPER, KISS, RICKY MARTIN, CHER, MICHAEL BOLTON and BONNIE TYLER — to produce their next studio album, which they expect to release before the end of 2007. Child, who recently worked with Michael Beinhorn, Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman as co-producer on MEAT LOAF's "Bat Out of Hell III: The Last at Bat" CD, has also been mentioned as MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil's likely collaborator on Neil's new solo album, which the vocalist was previously said to be planning to record this summer.
SCORPIONS' latest album, "Unbreakable", was released in the U.S. in June 2004 through Sanctuary Records. The CD was recorded at Peppermint Park Studio in Hannover, Germany and was mixed at Wisseloord studios in Hilversum, Holland.

KINGDOM COME: New Album Samples AvailableFrontiers Records has announce the completion of KINGDOM COME's new studio album, entitled "Ain't Crying For The Moon", to be released in Europe on October 20, 2006.
"After having done a lot of experimenting with 'Perpetual'," says Lenny Wolf, the mastermind behind KINGDOM COME, "I thought it was the time to take out the axe again and rock the house. The new CD will be one of my heaviest recordings ever. I was trying to build 'walls of guitars' in combination with that typical KC moody and spacey approach. It does not have the typical 'blues' factor anymore, which many of you may remember from the first records. I have transported my roots into the year 2006."
Still the new album keeps on having a very personal and quite recognizable touch, even if KINGDOM COME is an ever-evolving musical reality.
"When we will come to your towns, we will definitely play songs from our early days as well," adds Wolf, who, as a special gift to the fans, decided to include in the new album track listing an exclusive remake of KINGDOM COME's first U.S. hit "Get It On", originally released on the band's debut album in 1988.
"Ain't Crying For The Moon" (view cover here) track listing:
01. Two Legged Sheep
02. Not Here To Be Your Friend
03. Same Old Stars
04. Ain't Crying For The Moon
05. Perfect Citizen
06. This Is My Life
07. Bon Scott
08. Removed The Sting
09. Friends In Spirit
10. Darkroom
11. Look At You
12. Across The Universe
13. Get It On (2006 version)

New OZZY OSBOURNE Album Could Be Out In FebruaryOzzy Osbourne has told Reuters that he is working on two new albums and the first one could be ready by February.
"I don't want to release an album if it's not a great album," Ozzy said. "I primarily write an album for myself, and if the world likes it, great," he said. "I'm just hoping that I can get a good couple of albums out." Osbourne was cautious about when the album would be ready, but his wife, Sharon, who is also his manager, said "hopefully" it would released in February.
The self-proclaimed "Prince of Darkness" said he was working on the two albums with guitarist Zakk Wylde, whose band BLACK LABEL SOCIETY is one of the main acts in Osbourne's annual hard-rock traveling festival, Ozzfest.
"I can't say anything about the songs," Osbourne said at an event in New York to launch a Hard Rock Cafe T-shirt to raise money for his wife's cancer charity.

VANISHING POINT Prepares To Record New AlbumAustralian progressive metal band VANISHING POINT has issued the following update:
"We are currently busy writing and preparing ourselves for our fourth album for Dockyard 1. We are booked to go back into the recording studio in September with Endel Rivers at Palm Studios (BLACK MAJESTY, THE ETERNAL and many others) and things are going really well.
"What can we say about the new material so far? It's probably the heaviest music that we have come up with in some parts within the VANISHING POINT style. We still have the melodic edge, symphonic arrangements and thought-provoking lyrics as usual that you would expect on a VANISHING POINT album.
"We are very excited about the new material and we hope that you guys stick around for the next album!!!
"Oh, yeah, this time the album will not take years to complete — we want to have it ready for early next year. And yes, as many people are asking, the songs will be shorter, at least the majority of them will be, heh heh."
VANISHING POINT's latest album, "Embrace the Silence", was released in Europe in May 2005 through Dockyard 1, the new German company/record label formed by Dirk Putzke, Christine Stephan (both ex-Sanctuary/Noise Records) and Piet Sielck (IRON SAVIOR). "Embrace the Silence" is available in Australia and New Zealand through Riot Distributions.

KAMELOT Hard At Work On New SongsKAMELOT guitarist Thomas Youngblood has posted the following message on the group's official web site:
"Greetings from Wolfsburg, Germany! Home of Volkswagen, they are everywhere here. We are here working on the new songs for the upcoming album and follow-up to 'The Black Halo'. It is going very very well on the new songs. It's incredibly hot here in Germany at the moment, even hotter than Florida where I live. We are already planning tour dates for Europe again that we hope to announce very soon. It will likely be spring 2007 and we will unveil our biggest stage ever. I also have previewed some of the footage from the upcoming DVD and it looks really amazing. The artwork is nearly complete and our friend Mattias Norén in Sweden is working very hard on the whole booklet. As soon as we have an official release date you will hear it here first."
KAMELOT's first-ever DVD, "One Cold Winter's Night", was shot in Oslo this past February. "We have 18 cameras on this shoot and the concert was nearly two hours long," vocalist Khan had previously stated. The disc was edited by Patric Ulleaus (DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL, IN FLAMES) and will include special guest appearances by Simone Simons (EPICA), Sascha Paeth and Snowy Shaw (ex-KING DIAMOND, DREAM EVIL), plus many others.
Also on the KAMELOT-related front, the first-ever KAMELOT anthology, "Lunar Sanctum", will be released by Sanctuary Records. It will feature some classics as well as unreleased live cuts from the band's last concerts in Tokyo.
KAMELOT will team up with EPICA for a North American tour beginning on September 19 in West Springfield, Virginia.

VELVET REVOLVER In Talks With Producer RICK RUBINVELVET REVOLVER has decided to take a little time off from writing for its new album to play a few shows. But drummer Matt Sorum told ABC Radio's ePrep they're on track to have the CD in stores in the spring. No producer has been chosen at this point, but the band has been speaking with Rick Rubin (AUDIOSLAVE, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, SLAYER, SLIPKNOT), hoping to get him to come on board for the project.
"We've been talking to Rick Rubin," Sorum revealed. "So hopefully he's gonna come on board, because I think he's just a great song guy. And his advice to us, which was great advice, was, 'Write as many songs as possible.' He's listened to a lot of our riffs and different parts that we have. He's a very honest guy, and even if he doesn't produce us, he's given us a good sense of what we need to go for, and that's just great songs."
The working title for the disk remains "Libertad", although Sorum dismisses Scott Weiland's statements that it will be a concept record.
"You know, Scott said something about a concept album," Sorum told ABC Radio's ePrep. "But you know, the concept is let's get it done, you know what I mean? (laughs)"
VELVET REVOLVER's 2004 debut, "Contraband", was certified double-platinum for sales in excess of two million copies in the United States.

DERANGED Begin Work On New AlbumSwedish gore death masters DERANGED have commenced work on the follow-up to their sixth full-length album, "Obscenities in B Flat", which was released earlier this year on Listenable Records.
Commented drummer Rikard Wermen: "We have a couple of new songs more or less all done and so many ideas so it won't be any problem to throw some more tracks together. It's to early to say when we will eventually record the new disc. However, it will be titled '213' and a couple of titles that will hopefully and most likely end up on the disc are 'Death Walks on High Heels', 'Strip Nude for your Killer', 'Watch Me When I Kill', 'Too Young Too Die', 'The Killer Wore Black Gloves', 'So Sweet So Dead' and 'The Red Light Murderess'.
"And yes, it is the best musical work we have so far accomplished under the name DERANGED. It's brutal and insane, and will hopefully leave you dead with a broken neck in the pit."
