On the latest episode of the Broken Record Podcast, Dave Grohl reflected on NIRVANA's legacy and the difficult period following Kurt Cobain's death. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET):  "The NIRVANA experience was — I don't even know what the word is for it. It was just something else — in all the best and worst ways. And when you go through something like that with a small group of people, you're forever connected by that. We're a big family, all of the people that were there, and we all do love each other."

The current FOO FIGHTERS frontman continued: "When NIRVANA ended, I kind of knew… Well, at first it was hard for me to get through it. And then I realized that music is the thing that's going to get me through it."

Dave also talked about his special relationship with NIRVANA bassist Krist Novoselic, explaining: "Krist has such a gigantic heart and such an brilliant, amazing mind. And Krist sees the world through an entirely different lens than anyone you've ever met, in the most beautiful way. He's an artist. And he's a writer. And he's the same. The first day I ever met him, he has not changed. And so the experience that we had together in NIRVANA, we'll be connected by that forever. And just as we all continue to move forward in life and live life, it's, like, we're still beautiful, loving friends. And whenever I see him, it's a trip… So, yeah, he's amazing."

In a separate interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, Grohl said that that the aftermath of NIRVANA reshaped his entire relationship with music for a while, especially as he wanted to get back making music after the band's tragic end.

"I think that we all wound up in places that felt… I don't want to say comfortable, but safe," Grohl said. "When I went into the studio and recorded that stuff by myself, I felt safe there. And I can't speak for Krist, but I think at that time it was like we were just trying to get our feet back on the ground. For me, that's something that I thought, 'Okay, well, music is the thing that's going to rescue me.'"

Dave went on to say that revisiting NIRVANA's old catalog still proved difficult in the decades after Kurt's passing.

"It's such a weird thing to feel afraid to play songs. And for a long time it's like I was even afraid just to sit down at a drum set and play the opening riff to 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'," he explained. "It just seemed sort of forbidden. And so the few times that Krist and Pat [NIRVANA guitarist Pat Smear] and I have gotten together to do it, it's a trip… The noise that the three of us make together, you don't really get that noise anywhere else. The way that Krist strums his bass lines, the bass that he uses, the equipment he uses, his sense of feel and time, it's like all of those things, combined with Pat, with that crazy GERMS/Pat Smear guitar thing. And then some loud-ass drums, when it happens, you're just, like, 'Oh, fuck, I remember this. Shit, I haven't heard this in 35 years.' It's a really beautiful sound and a beautiful feeling."

Elsewhere in the chat, Grohl talked in more detail about Cobain, who is recognized as a pivotal figure in grunge rock and modern music, known for his relatable lyrics and catchy melodies.

"The songs that he wrote, I think he wrote them to be heard," Dave said. "I think that most songwriters when they write songs, you want them to be heard or you want them to be felt or you want — not necessarily validation, but you want someone to feel what you feel just as a listener wants to feel what the artist feels.

"I don't know what the exact intention was," Dave added, "but I do know that Kurt was one of the greatest songwriters of all time. And it was inevitable that his songs would be recognized as some of the greatest songs of all time."

NIRVANA's breakout hit single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" created a seismic shift in the music universe and a cultural moment in history by heralding the alternative/grunge era of the '90s and becoming one of the most iconic songs and music videos of all time. The Generation X anthem off their sophomore album "Nevermind" turned the underground Seattle based trio of Cobain, Novoselic and Grohl overnight into the biggest band in the world. The song delivered a call to arms for teenage rebellion that was punctuated by the intensity of Cobain's unforgettable performance in the legendary video and its powerful imagery of anarchy and alienation that would later define the grunge revolution. The video depicting a high school pep rally that turns into a mosh pit frenzy quietly debuted September 29, 1991 on MTV's "120 Minutes" and stratospherically propelled the band into superstardom with "Nevermind" turning gold only five weeks after its release.

In 2014, NIRVANA was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame at a ceremony held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. NIRVANA was inducted by R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe. Surviving members Grohl and Novoselic, along with Smear, performed four tracks with guest vocalists, including St. Vincent, Lorde, SONIC YOUTH's Kim Gordon and Joan Jett.

On April 18, British hard rock legends DEEP PURPLE played at Culture Park inside the Paradise City Resort in Incheon, South Korea. The concert ran for one hour and 50 minutes — including a one-hour-30-minute main set and a 20-minute encore — and marked the band's first performance in South Korea in 16 years, following DEEP PURPLE's appearances at the 1999 Triport Rock Festival and 2010 Olympic Park.

DEEP PURPLE's current lineup includes founding drummer Ian Paice, 77 years old, vocalist Ian Gillan, 80 years old, bassist Roger Glover, 80 years old, keyboardist Don Airey, 77 years old, and guitarist Simon McBride, 47 years old.

DEEP PURPLE recently announced a summer 2026 North American tour, with support from KANSAS and JEFFERSON STARSHIP (on select dates). The trek will kick off on August 4 in Raleigh, North Carolina and wrap up on September 12 in Sparks, Nevada.

In an interview with Songwriting For Songwriters, Gillan confirmed that DEEP PURPLE is putting the finishing touches on a new album for a tentative June 2026 release. The upcoming effort will be the follow-up to "=1", which came out in July 2024 via earMUSIC. Asked what kind of lyrical themes he has been exploring in the songs for the new DEEP PURPLE LP, Ian said: "Well, it's very interesting on this one. I can't give you too much at this stage, but it's basically very optimistic. Let's say there's a general theme. It's a fairly loose conceptual idea of the end of humanity, but not as grim as it sounds. In fact, it's very optimistic. It's about the metamorphosis of humanity into a metaphysical state, our next incarnation. It's a bit too early to be doing interviews about this. I don't mean time of day. I mean, it's not gonna be out until June, so I don't want to give too much away."

Gillan also talked in more detail about the DEEP PURPLE songwriting process, particularly his chemistry with the various guitar players who have played with the group. He said: "It's very important, obviously. But at the same time you've got to ignore it. I've got an idea that came to me a long time ago with DEEP PURPLE. But when you're writing like that, as opposed to sitting down with a co-writer or on your own with a guitar and you're writing the entire thing, then there are no boundaries, really. But with a band, you are very much confined by what you're given. For example, the working practice of PURPLE has always been the same. We go to a place for a week or 10 days and go into the office every day — start at noon, finish at six and stop for tea at three o'clock. It's like going to the office. And the guys just start playing, and it's all improvised. You have no idea. If you were a listener, you'd think you might be hearing the preparation for something operatic or a mood music for a yoga or massage parlor or you might be in a jazz club or hearing some blues or rock or soul, any kind of thing that came to their mind. These are great players, and so the music evolves, as I say, and then dramatically switches into something else. So basically it's a week-long or eight-day jam. And every now and again, somebody nods to somebody else and says, 'Okay, that's worth keeping,' an idea, a mood, a rhythm, a sequence, or anything like that, and we record it and come back at the end of the session with probably 35 or 40 ideas. And the next session is much the same. We trim it down and then add some more, and trim it down to 30 ideas, and it gradually evolves. Now, I don't have much choice, really, other than to say, 'Well, perhaps there's too many verses there,' or 'we need a little bit here', or a section or a middle eight there or whatever. But basically it's the guys putting the songs together. And I just have to — what I call — ride the pony. And when it comes to sitting down alone and shaping my contribution, I've gotta pretty much fit in. But then again, it's easy to be overwhelmed with something like that because it's a hell of a challenge. So I've got this attitude, I've gotta take over, I've gotta dominate completely and make it sound not as if I'm hopping on afterwards, but as if the whole idea came from the song first. It's a reversal. So I've got complete freedom in terms of lyrics, but obviously there's a mood thing. And it's gotta fit with the songs. And, obviously, I liked in more recent years, particularly, to have a concept for the album that basically hangs things together. The last album was called '=1' and it was all about my frustration with the complexities of life these days and so forth."

In July 2022, guitarist Steve Morse officially left PURPLE to care for his wife, Janine, who was battling cancer. He has since been replaced by Simon McBride.

This past November, DEEP PURPLE announced a U.K. tour for November 2026, including shows in Newcastle, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, and London.

In a recent interview with Jono and Nats of Dubai 92's "The Big Breakfast", Gillan was asked if there is "an end in sight" to DEEP PURPLE's six-decade career or if he and his bandmates just plan to "keep on rocking". Ian responded: "Well, no one's really thought it through. We don't talk about it that much. And as life gets on, the end is nearer than the beginning, that's for sure. We all know that. But at the moment we're getting a lot of joy from what we're doing. I think the band is rejuvenated since Simon joined us. And so we're looking a long way ahead. And you don't make long-term plans if you're thinking of stopping. So, we'll see what the future holds. I think probably human dignity is gonna be the deciding factor. Once you start going out and embarrassing people with your inability to do what you've done all your life, then it's time to stop. But until that moment arrives, then we're going good. And the band is hard and mean and hungry at the moment. I've never felt it so tight."

The 80-year-old Gillan recently admitted to Uncut magazine that he was unsure how much longer he and his bandmates would be able to keep performing live.

"It's one of those things," he said. "I've only got 30 percent vision. That won't get better. It makes life mysterious. The hardest thing is working on my laptop. I can't see anything on the screen unless I use my peripheral vision; I pick up a line by looking at it sideways. But you find a way. You adapt. But it's achingly tiresome. It takes a long time to do the work."

Ian went on to say that he is grateful he still has his sense of humor.

"It's hilarious this growing old thing. It's a laugh a minute," Gillan said. "Well, sometimes yes and sometimes no. I walk down the road and hear something drop off — clang, there's something else gone. Nothing's changed really apart from I can't pole vault any more. Other than that, things move a little more slowly. But nothing's changed."

Contemplating the possibility of retirement, Gillan said: "I think if I lose my energy I'm going to stop. I don't want to be an embarrassment to anyone. We're not far off that. It creeps up on you — you don't really notice."

In a new interview with Devolution magazine, PRONG guitarist/vocalist Tommy Victor spoke about the status of the recording sessions for the band's follow-up to 2023's "State Of Emergency" album. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Yeah, it's in mixdown now. We sort of finished [recording] it, so it was done fast and quick. And that's the way [PRONG's classic second album, 1990's] 'Beg To Differ' was done where we didn't really think about that much. We just said, 'Okay, we've got some time. Let's do this record.' And we finished it up really fast."

Regarding the musical direction of the upcoming PRONG album, Tommy said: "I think there's some really good songs on it — some really fast ones. It's got a little bit of groove metal. It's faster than 'State Of Emergency'. And it's more diverse, I think, too. So, yeah, I'm pretty happy with it."

PRONG's next LP is tentatively due in November via Napalm Records.

Last month, Tommy told Shawn Ratches of Laughingmonkeymusic about PRONG's upcoming LP: "This record is like a real one that doesn't give a shit about what's going on today. So, we just do what we do and have a good time."

He added: "It's definitely modern in its own way, but I'm still trying to do something different, something that is different for the listener or something that is exciting, or trying to. It's hard, because there's nothing new under the sun; everything's been done."

PRONG released a new live album, "Live And Uncleansed", on March 6 via SPV/Steamhammer. Recorded over seven nights in July and August 2025, the LP sees Victor and bandmates Christopher Dean (bass) and Tyler Joseph (drums) deliver eleven powerful live songs (plus three live bonus tracks),all pure and unadulterated, authentic and honest.

Formed in 1986 by Victor and cemented into American metal legend, PRONG have never released their grip on the scene. From the '80s club basements of New York City to the MTV "Headbangers Ball" era with '90s classics "Beg To Differ", "Prove You Wrong", "Cleansing" and "Rude Awakening", to their official return in the late aughts and today, PRONG have stood their ground as household names in the metal universe, continuing to put out grippingly gritty, provocative and vital records for the next generation of heavy music fans.

PRONG's new partnership with Napalm Records was announced in June 2025. It came on the heels of the band's European headline tour celebrating 31 years of their aforementioned 1994 album "Cleansing".

"State Of Emergency" came out in October 2023 via Steamhammer/SPV. The LP was helmed by producer Steve Evetts (SEPULTURA, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN) and included a cover of "Working Man", originally written and recorded by the legendary RUSH.

Prior to "State Of Emergency"'s arrival, Victor stated about the LP's stylistic direction: "It's a very PRONG record. I think it's totally genre-transcending and definitely ignores what's going on out there these days."

Commenting on his artistic approach, he said: "I like all kinds of music. This record totally reflects that because it covers lots of different angles. At the same time, 'State Of Emergency' is very guitar-oriented and a typical example of my style.'"

In a new interview with The Garza Podcast, hosted by SUICIDE SILENCE guitarist Chris Garza, drummer Jay Weinberg was asked if he had any regrets regarding his tenure with SLIPKNOT, particularly as it relates to the way he was fired from the band nearly two and a half years ago. The split happened just two days after Jay played his final show with SLIPKNOT on November 3, 2023 at the Hell & Heaven festival in Toluca, Mexico. Weinberg said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "No, no. Much has been said about it, but I don't think living with regrets… Your trajectory, it is what it is. And I think as long as you work your hardest, try your best and apply yourself and do things for the right reasons, I think those are the things that lead you from fulfilling moment to fulfilling moment.

"I really believe in being in tune with the things that my friends and people who I've shared creative spaces with are saying," he continued. "I saw something recently that a friend of mine said of, like, the only thing that's consistent in life is impermanence. And if you are comfortable with that, then you stand the chance of continuing your path or whatever is meant for in that sense. And with that in mind, the idea of impermanence and this and that, it's, like, no, I don't regret any of these things."

Earlier this month, Weinberg told Andy Greene of Rolling Stone about the way he was dismissed from SLIPKNOT: "I woke up the morning after traveling home from our last show together, and I received a phone call from the band's manager in which he informed me that the band had made a decision to not renew my contract at the end of the year. I was shocked and full of questions. I was like, 'Why? What happened?'

"It took place, to be quite honest, at the end of a year that was a very difficult year within the band," Jay continued. "That might relate to some of those preexisting tensions before I arrived at the band, sort of coming back. But I'm left with no explanation, just that 'It's a creative decision and you're no longer the drummer in SLIPKNOT.' And what he said from there was, 'We would like to release a joint statement with you tomorrow. Take the rest of the day to think about it. I'll be available to you for the rest of the day if you want to talk.'

"My world just kind of bottomed out from under me," Weinberg admitted. "This thing that I have been dedicated to with complete focus and drive and attention and love and holding on to a dream, despite the difficulties, despite all the things that happen with entering a volatile environment like that and a dark environment at that, to having nothing but questions. So I went on a walk with my wife to clear my head and process what had just happened. And then 20 minutes later, they posted their own statement online."

Asked how he felt about that, Jay said: "I mean, how would anybody feel about that? It perfectly encapsulates the confusion of that. And like I said, it came after an extraordinarily tense year for the band, things that I could only see as an outsider in relationships that are 25 years deep. It came without an explanation, [with] no reason. It was confusing then. If I'm perfectly honest, it remains confusing.

"As a newcomer, I think being caught in between those preexisting tensions, you find yourself trying to navigate that the best you can," Weinberg added. "One guy has one way he wants things done, another guy wants another way he wants things done, and amplify that by eight other people, to try to satisfy all of those things. This was my singular focus for 10 years. I applied myself in every way possible. As a newcomer, and like you mentioned, you're like, 'Are you in the band? Are you not in the band?' How do you define that after 10 years? It's not a short amount of time. But it's easy for a newcomer, for myself, to be caught in the crossfire there. Maybe I became a scapegoat for certain things."

On November 5, 2023, SLIPKNOT released a statement via social media in which it said it had "decided to make a creative decision and to part ways with Jay."

Six days later, Weinberg, who replaced Joey Jordison, SLIPKNOT's original drummer, in 2013, shared on Instagram that he "was heartbroken and blindsided to receive the phone call", "the news of which, most of you learned shortly after."

Jay discovered SLIPKNOT when he was a pre-teen, through his father. He was hooked immediately and was a huge fan of SLIPKNOT by the time he was invited to Los Angeles to try out as replacement for Joey Jordison in 2013.

For the first few months after the release of 2014's ".5: The Gray Chapter", the members of SLIPKNOT had declined to name the musicians who were playing drums and bass on their tour, despite the fact that their identities were revealed as Weinberg and bassist Alessandro "Vman" Venturella by a disgruntled former drumtech for SLIPKNOT who posted a picture of a backstage call sheet on Instagram.

".5: The Gray Chapter" went on to score a trio of Grammy nominations, including two for "Best Metal Performance" and a nomination for "Best Rock Album".

Weinberg also played on 2019's "We Are Not Your Kind" and 2022's "The End, So Far", both of which topped Billboard's rock albums chart.

In February 2024, SLIPKNOT recruited former SEPULTURA drummer Eloy Casagrande as the replacement for Jay.

Prior to joining SLIPKNOT, Jay played with AGAINST ME! and MADBALL.

In an interview with Jimmy Kay of Canada's The Metal Voice, RAVEN bassist/vocalist John Gallagher and guitarist Mark Gallagher confirmed that a new career-spanning documentary on the influential British/American metal trio is in the works.

RAVEN previously released a documentary DVD, "Rock Until You Drop - A Long Day's Journey", in 2013. That effort documented the band's then-almost-40-year career and highlighted RAVEN's high-energy approach and influence on the development of thrash.

Regarding RAVEN's plans for the upcoming film, Mark told The Metal Voice: "We pretty much worked out the details and we're starting work on it. There's gonna be a RAVEN documentary, like a full documentary. The last one was difficult, because it wasn't funded right. And, actually, I did a lot of the editing stuff for it, and it was such a learning curve for me. If anybody's ever been involved in something like that, it's just a huge learning curve. And so now this time we have really professional people involved, and we'll be able to do, I think, a better job of telling the story. 'Cause it's quite a tale, when you look at all the different angles and things that we've been through. And we were just talking earlier about it — a lot of the people who were involved in the beginning of this are gone. Even like people like Jonny Z [Megaforce Records founder Jon Zazula], who was really integral to our success in the States, and a lot of the different players are not around anymore." John chimed in: "Even just our contemporaries, a lot of them are gone."

Mark added: "So, it's pretty cool that we're still standing. And this [spring 2026 North American] tour has been amazing. I mean, the response we've got and the shows are just off the chain as far as the excitement and everything that's happening. It's pretty cool."

"Rock Until You Drop - A Long Day's Journey" was released in July 2013 as a two-disc DVD digipak in North America via SPV/Steamhammer. The effort contained four hours and 30 minutes of concert footage from around the world, in the studio, backstage, interviews with the band, the fans musicians and producer.

When "Rock Until You Drop - A Long Day's Journey" was first made available 13 years ago, John told Songfacts about how the project came about: "The genesis came a few years ago when there was a company in New York that wanted to put out a 'best of' RAVEN, and it kind of fell apart — they flaked out on us. I put all this stuff together and we said, 'You know, let's just do a box set with all the stuff everyone's never heard before,' and we put out an album called 'Raw Tracks', which was all the demos that never came out. The idea was kicked around back then, and I said, 'Wow, it would be great if we could do a DVD along the lines of this.'

He continued: "We'd done a DVD back in the early '90s called 'Electro Shock Therapy', which only came out in Europe. It was basically filmed when we were on tour — it was live stuff and us clowning around. It was very entertaining. It was a lot of fun. We just figured it would be good to 'longform' this at some time, because my brother had been collecting and archiving for a few years. Then we were talking to our record company, and they were, like, 'Let's do it.' So my poor brother locked himself in a room for the best part of a year, turned his eyes into road maps, and put this together. It's pretty much the history of the band from when we started all the way through. It's not really, 'Oh, let's just sit down and watch this,' because it came in too long. It's three hours, plus the actual so-called documentary part, so it's really for the diehard fan. We didn't want to compromise this into a fluffy little one-hour thing. Very little is left on the cutting room floor. It's all in."

Last month, John Gallagher told The Five Count radio show about the progress of the songwriting sessions for RAVEN's next album, following the arrival of last year's "Can't Take Away The Fire" EP. He said: "The EP really points to where the next album's going to be, which we have pretty much all the songs written. We have an awful lot of songs, and I think we have everything we need. We just have to go through them and see what would be a good starter, what would follow that, what would be a good end and fill in the gaps. And we will probably be recording that in the summer, [around] July, August. So we'll be able to, in our down moments on the [spring 2026 North American] tour, which won't be many, we'll be playing songs and going, 'What do you think of this one? What do you think of that one?' But I'm excited. The stuff we've got, it's yet another step ahead — more intense, more melodic, more heavy, more crazy. [Laughs] A little bit of everything."

John went on to say that there will be an extensive tour to follow the release of the next RAVEN album. "Yeah, we're already planning for 2027," he said. "It's looking really good so far. And I'm just excited to kick it all into gear, get it going."

He added: "We'll be discussing title and cover idea for the new [album] when we're out there [on the road]. Because we're spread a little bit all over the map — Mike's [Heller, RAVEN drummer] out in Texas, [RAVEN guitarist Mark Gallagher and I are] here Florida. But we shall be throwing ideas at each other."

In August 2025, it was announced that RAVEN was postponing its previously announced summer/fall 2025 European tour so that John could undergo emergency brain surgery.

In February, John told Metal Mayhem ROC about his health: "I call 2025 our medical gap year. My brother [RAVEN guitarist Mark Gallagher] had an ankle replacement and a knee replacement, which were kind of planned, but me getting knocked on the head and being in the ICU for two weeks and bleed on the brain wasn't planned. I'm just very, very lucky to pull through with it, with very little to show for it. Medically, I'm doing okay."

Speaking in more detail about Mark's surgeries, John said: "Well, the ankle, Mark needed the ankle for an awful long time. I mean, you guys have seen him running around like a crazy man, but you don't see him curled up in a ball after the show. He's been in a lot of pain for many, many years, and this is something he's wanted to do. And [it was] basically bone on bone, no cartilage, so it really needed to be done. And the other thing that followed from that, of course, is all those years of compensating for the ankle with the other leg, and the knee got shot because of that. So he got both of them done. So he's a little bit more metal than what he was before."

As for how he is feeling at the moment and whether he is prepared to return to the road, John said: "Well, with my thing, I'm currently still on anti-seizure medication, which is being reviewed later this week. We'll see how we're doing. But I was basically given the green light to do whatever only a few weeks after with the caveat that 'you won't be strong enough to do any of that.' And they were right, 'cause [when] you get a head injury like that, it kind of sucks all the power out of your body to try and fix that. So it was humbling, put it that way. It took a hell of a lot out of me. But I'm doing pretty good now. And it was a little weird, a few strange things. As soon as I got back, I picked up a bass and started trying to play a few of my favorite MONTROSE riffs, and the fingers weren't going where they were supposed to go. So I put it down for a day or two and came back and realized I was about 80% of what I should have been. And I just had to work real hard and getting back to where I am — currently a little better than I was before. So I'm happy about that."

According to John, his inability to play the bass properly after being released from the hospital was "totally mental. Literally my fingers weren't going in the right place or were out of sync," he explained. "[It was] just a brain thing. Compared to a lot of people, I'm incredibly lucky. So it was just a small hurdle to work on, and it did scare me a little bit, but I was getting improvements almost immediately on that. And it only took a few weeks, and I got back to where I was supposed to be."

Referencing KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, who died last October after a fall at Ace's home, John added: "Believe me, very few moments go by where I'm not reminded [that] I could be where Ace Frehley is, and Ace could be where I am. God bless. I'm very, very lucky. My family, my friends, they've all been amazing. The doctors, the nurses, the whole deal."

Considered part of the "New Wave Of British Heavy Metal" movement of the early '80s, RAVEN is perhaps best remembered for its trailblazing tours in America in the early '80s that gave groups like METALLICA and ANTHRAX their first taste of the road.

RAVEN's classic albums "Rock Until You Drop", "Wiped Out" and "All For One" virtually invented both the speed metal and power metal genres, with the band consistently pushing the envelope while retaining its unique sound and attack — both in the studio and in their true element: onstage.

RAVEN's latest EP, the aforementioned "Can't Take Away The Fire", came out in February 2025 via Silver Lining Music.

NONPOINT performed two new songs, "Is It" and "Red Yeti", during the band's headlining concert Saturday night (April 25) at Ritz Ybor in Tampa, Florida. The show, which was part of NONPOINT's just-launched "The Outta Control Tour", featured support from SOIL and SUMO CYCO. Fan-filmed video of the concert can be seen below (courtesy of IFM RAW).

"Is It" and "Red Yeti", the latter of which features a guest appearance by SUMO CYCO frontwoman Skye Sweetnam, are both expected to appear on NONPOINT's upcoming full-length album, tentatively due later this year via the band's independent record label 361 Degrees Records LLC.

When "The Outta Control Tour" was first announced in February, NONPOINT frontman Elias Soriano said: "We're gonna be playing some new tracks on this tour that are some of my favorites on the new record. One being our lead track 'Is It'. It's about that internal conflict where you question getting too involved. Did I push too hard? Did I ask too much? It's that feeling of wondering if doing what you thought was right actually meant being okay with hurting the people around you. We're also performing our collab with Skye from SUMO CYCO, 'Red Yeti'. That one is gonna blow people away. Add the return of SOIL to the stage after some time off in the U.S., new production and you got a night people are going to talk about."

This past March, Soriano told Super Cool Radio about the musical direction of NONPOINT's upcoming full-length album: "The overall vibe of the record is very, very heavy, very, very new feeling, especially with the addition of Jason [Zeilstra, guitar], addition of some of the textures and layers that we're playing with sonically just in the general mix of our music, keys and strings and stuff that we played with on our [2018] 'X' record that we fooled around with a little bit during the 'Heartless' [2023] and 'Ruthless' [2021] era. So, we're really gonna bring all those in the fold. But I think I took steps way, way back and really started to pay attention to what people were asking of me of the collabs that I was doing with them and having that epiphany of, 'Hey, maybe this is what people wanna see me do more on my record. So let me lean in that direction' and go really back to basics and go back to a lot of my cadence play, a lot of my lyric play, a lot of metaphors and double and triple entendres and things that make people hopefully want to re-listen and dig in and find a meaning in there somewhere."

He added: "It's all fun and games and great in the pit, and I love to excite people with trigger words, but at the end of the day, I want them to read further and have their own epiphanies."

Elias also talked about the NONPOINT songwriting process, explaining: "Well, from what the guys usually send, there's a song in there within the song. Sometimes it's just there. When it comes to what I see and what I translate into a song and lyrics and meaning, [it] usually comes from how the music paints itself in the room mood-wise — [how] aggressive [it is], how much of a rollercoaster it is. If it's more linear, then that's where I have to be the rollercoaster. If I can't find something that's more, maybe it rests on me to do that. So I like to allow the players and the other guys in the band to play and write stuff that they like themselves… That way they spend all the time, beat their heads against the wall, rewrite the riff a dozen times, and then finally get to this point. And then sometimes what they feel like might be a verse, may feel like a chorus to me, and I write a vocal line over top of it that, [which] now has them flipping their thinking on what they wrote because they expected it to be a chorus. There's this dance that comes with, 'Hey, write whatever you wanna write. But at the end of the day, it's my turn next to then be inspired by it enough to then lay something down that feels even exciting for me to wanna present.' And sometimes in its first incarnation, it doesn't always present itself that way. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it's just, like, 'Yeah, that's a verse. Yeah, that's a chorus.' It's really letting the current kind of take things where they're gonna go, and then me just steer to the most beautiful shore I can find."

Also in March, Elias told Rev. Tom Brice of Sportzwire Radio about his expectations for NONPOINT's upcoming full-length album: "I think people are gonna have fun with it. It's different than what's on the radio. It's different than what people are dropping right now. It's not what anybody else is doing. That's the best way I can describe it. It's NONPOINT. It's NONPOINT and it's only NONPOINT."

Soriano also talked about how he feels about the supposed nu metal resurgence in recent years, partly thanks to a whole new wave of exciting revivalists. He said: "I think people remember how fun it was back then. The music right now leans — it's decorating a time that's kind of sad. There's a lot of struggle and a lot of money problems in the world and war problems in the world, and mental health because of post-pandemic generation, and that is what paints new inspiration. So music, I think people are starting to remember, is for getting away from all that. So when you go to the playlist to find something, a lot of it doesn't inspire you to get creative, to get out of your funk, all that stuff. And sometimes you just wanna do it all for the nookie, you know what I'm saying? Gimme something to break. Put that fucking finger up your ass. That kind of whole time of music in the early 2000s was a spectrum of power and excess. I think fans and everybody, we all miss that. So, we definitely are trying to bring that back to this new music."

Elias added: "I think people are gonna hear our new record and they're gonna have fun. I really feel like they're gonna have fun again, in the way that we intend it to be, I feel, which is empowering, which is retrospective, which is painted with a little bit of self-awareness, a little self-growth and then some initiative and drive and motivation peppered throughout."

Last September, NONPOINT drummer Robb Rivera told Thunder Underground that he and his bandmates had "16 [or] 17 songs" ready for their upcoming LP. "We've got quite a few, and a lot in the can that we haven't gotten to yet," he explained. "We've taken our time with it. It's been two years we've been writing this thing, maybe even more. We just got a bunch of ideas. And next year it's gonna come out."

Asked if NONPOINT's next release would be a full-length album or if it will be another EP, as was the case with 2021's "Ruthless" and 2023's "Heartless", Robb said: "Full album this time. At least that's the plan. Right now I'm looking at maybe 10 songs, which is, that's a full album these days, I guess. The EP idea was a great experiment. We just wanted to try things out. It worked. Some people liked it, some people didn't. Me, I personally just like doing the singles. I just think you can focus on the one song. But I think we're so happy with this new music that we wanna put out 10 [songs]."

After the interviewer noted that NONPOINT used to release albums more frequently, Robb concurred. "Yeah, we were actually just talking about that," he said. "Every two years we had an album out. [It was a cycle of] record, tour, write, record, tour, write. It became too much. We never really took a breather. We did 10 albums that way. And so we took our time — well, we had to take our time with 'Ruthless' because of the pandemic. We were gonna release everything in 2020, and everything shut down. The EP was already recorded. We recorded in February [of 2020], and then the pandemic happened. So we shut down all plans. We had actually gone dark online. We were not gonna say nothing for a while. And then, so then when we decided to do [new versions of] 'Alive And Kicking' and 'Frontlines', quarantine version, just to be visible and stuff. And then we started putting merch, we did the masks and all this other stuff.

"But a full album, I think it's time," he added. "Since 2018 — it's eight years without a full album. But it's not like we haven't had new music. We put out two EPs, we put out [the 2024 single] 'Underdog', so we put out 11 songs, which is really, if you look at it, it's a full album. It's just done in parts."

Grammy- and American Music Award-winning rock band CREED formed in Tallahassee, Florida, in 1994. In an interview with Mike DiGiorgio of Rochester, New York's 13WHAM, TRIUMPH singer and guitarist Rik Emmett spoke about the legendary Canadian rockers' recently launched first tour in more than 30 years. For the 2026 trek, TRIUMPH's original members Emmett and Gil Moore (drums, vocals) are being joined by guitarist Phil X, drummer and keyboardist Brent Fitz and bassist Todd Kerns. Phil X, whose real name is Theofilos Xenidis, is a member of BON JOVI and a former member of TRIUMPH, while Fitz and Kerns are both members of SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS. Original TRIUMPH bassist Mike Levine is not taking part in most of the 2026 tour dates after revealing in December that he has "a problem" with his hand that "precludes" him "from being able to really play well."

Asked if he thinks the people buying tickets for TRIUMPH's 2026 tour are fans who had never seen the band before or if they are longtime followers  who want to see TRIUMPH again and "relive some great memories," Rik responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "It's a little bit of both. I think that there are people that — I think there's grandfathers that wanna bring their grandsons and their grandchildren. We're literally sort of three generations in. And honestly, I think it's a question of the music being — the songs are the things that are dragging us all out. So I think that's the biggest thing that I feel, that people are kind of going, like, 'Oh, you haven't lived until you've seen TRIUMPH do 'Magic Power' or 'Fight The Good Fight' or 'Lay It On The Line' live.'"

Rik continued: "But the pressure from fans is an interesting thing because, of course, I can't do what I did when I was in my thirties, which is what most people remember. And so if they think they're gonna get to relive this guy in his red spandex pants or his jumpsuit or something, that's just not gonna happen. But I do feel like the resurrection of the band as a concert touring act is because there's these songs — and I really look forward to the chance of getting to play with different musicians and in a different kind of a circumstance. I mean, it's gonna be a big show. So there's gonna be a crowd that has lots and lots of different people with lots and lots of different expectations in every market. But I don't know.

"Back to your question, I think that there's probably gonna be much more repeat customers than there are people experiencing it for the very first time," Emmett added. "But, like I said, if they're dragging along the next generation or two, then there will be new fans. And so — I don't know. In some ways, I guess I'll have to mind my Ps and Qs a little bit."

Rik also talked about TRIUMPH's decision to hire Phil, Brent and Todd for the current tour, explaining: "Well, first of all, we felt like we had to build a bit of a safety net for ourselves. There are certain notes that I just can't hit, but there's this guy, Todd Kerns, a good Canadian boy from Saskatchewan, and he's been out with Slash and Alice Cooper. And he's a tremendous musician — guitar, bass, singer. And then Brent Fitz on drums, just because there are some songs where Gil goes, 'Well, I wanna come down front and sing.' So Gil Moore is from the original lineup. But there are gonna be double drummers. We're gonna be like the ALLMAN BROTHERS and the DOOBIE BROTHERS, and I'm sure that more than half of your audience doesn't even know who I'm talking about. But we'll have that for some stuff. And then Gil's gonna come down and sing a couple things. And Brent is amazing. He can play keyboards as well, so we kind of get a double-threat kind of guy there. Oh, and he can sing harmony too, so a triple threat. And then Phil X, who replaced me in TRIUMPH when I left. And Phil, he goes out with BON JOVI and plays all kinds of different things. And he's a tremendous guitar player with this absolutely unbridled enthusiasm for rock. So that's really good for me. It's kind of, like, I get this Phil X cattle project; it keeps giving me bursts of energy."

Addressing Levine's absence from the TRIUMPH tour, Rik said: "Mike Levine, his health has been up and down, in and out. I'm not sure he's gonna be able to join us for a lot of shows. The invitation is open, and there's a place for him whenever he feels like he might wanna do it, even if he just came and sat at a keyboard for a bit."

Emmett also talked about the skepticism from some fans about classic rock bands touring with, in some cases, one or two original members, or even no original members. He said: "I don't know. There are bands that are out there — JOURNEY, STYX, REO [SPEEDWAGON], DEF LEPPARD — and they have a catalog that is so strong that it becomes this compelling thing. So it's kind of like jukebox rock, if you're being cynical or skeptical. But what's wrong with a really great jukebox, if the songs are done with respect and they remain true to the spirit of the original? But I will deviate from that, because I feel like I'm a musician and a writer before I'm anything else. So a performer is part of it, and people wanna, 'Hey, I'd love to see [former JOURNEY singer] Steve Perry be able to sing 'Don't Stop Believin' in the original key and hit all the high notes.' But life is the way that it is. You don't get any younger. And so, from my perspective, I go, yeah, but these songs — I get a chance to reinvent them as I reinvent myself, given my circumstances. I'm 72 years old.

"The management company we work with, they also handle Peter Frampton, and Frampton went, 'Okay, I'm gonna go out and I'm gonna do just a farewell tour,'" Rik continued. "And he got out there and he told them, 'That 90 minutes I get on stage is the best part of my day. As long as I can keep doing it, please keep booking me. I wanna go back out.' And I feel like I'm already sensing that, when I'm in rehearsals. I mean, I tire more easily than I did. I'm working hard to have the same level of chops. I practice now more than I've ever practiced in my life. It's kind of, like, the veteran hockey player goes to the camp and he's gotta work way harder than the rookies just to be able to, compete. And I feel that. But I also feel like, how lucky am I, at 72 years of age, that I'm getting to chase this thing? How many other people my age get this opportunity? A friend of my wife said, they were talking on the phone, and she said, 'Most people when they retire,' and I retired about four or five years ago, but she said, 'Most people, when they retire, their lives get smaller. They kind of intentionally, they kind of shrink their lives to make it simpler and easier when they're retired.' She goes, 'Look at Rik. He's trying to make his life bigger.' And I think that's an easy way to say it, that that's the most fun of all, that I'm kind of going, 'Yeah. I'm gonna see if I can keep up with the 60-year-olds.'"

TRIUMPH kicked off its 2026 tour on April 10 in Orlando, Florida.

100% of the net proceeds of TRIUMPH's Orlando concert were donated to Make-A-Wish, to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The concert was held at Hard Rock Live Universal Orlando, and was part of the 23rd annual Celebration Exotic Car Festival, the world's largest exotic car charity event.

TRIUMPH's 2026 North American run of shows are celebrating the band's 50th anniversary, and feature support from APRIL WINE. The 2026 trek will continue with a series of dates in Canada, beginning April 22 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and running through a May 8 show in Calgary, Alberta. From there, the band will hit the U.S. starting May 13 in Rosemont, Illinois, and wrapping up June 6 in Boston. In all, 10 Canadian and 17 American cities are included on the tour.

Formed in Mississauga in 1975, TRIUMPH rose from playing high school auditoriums and rock 'n' roll bars to selling out iconic arenas, from Toronto's famed Maple Leaf Gardens to Reunion Arena in Dallas, Texas. Further solidifying their celebrated status, TRIUMPH was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame in October, a prestigious honor recognizing their enduring influence, masterful songwriting, and contributions to Canada's cultural legacy. This induction adds to their long list of accolades, which includes membership in the Canadian Music Industry Hall Of Fame (2007),the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame (2008),and Canada's Walk Of Fame (2019).

Emmett, who quit TRIUMPH — acrimoniously, in 1988 — over music and business disputes, went on to pursue a solo career, while TRIUMPH carried on with future BON JOVI guitarist Phil X for one more album, 1992's "Edge Of Excess", before calling it a day the following year.

Emmett was estranged, both personally and professionally, from the two other members of the legendary Canadian classic rock power trio for 18 years before they repaired their relationship.

After 20 years apart, Emmett, Levine and Moore played at the 2008 editions of the Sweden Rock Festival and Rocklahoma. A DVD of the historic Sweden performance was made available four years later.

In a new interview with Metal Addiction webzine, former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen was asked if there is a NIGHTWISH song that she would personally love to perform again, even if it's unlikely. She responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Oh, wow. There is quite a lot of things that I have actually forgotten. If I would take now an album, 'Oceanborn', or even the first one that is turning 30 years [old in 2027], 'Angels Fall First', I don't remember those songs any longer. Seriously — it's a long time [ago that those albums were recorded], and for me it's even hard to listen to those albums because I barely can hear my voice. I really do not like how I sound on those records, because it was the beginning for me, and I didn't know how to use my voice still. My focus was in operatic singing, and it was very difficult to get away from it."

She continued: "But which would be my favorite NIGHTWISH song to sing? Maybe a song like 'Swanheart', a ballad from 'Oceanborn'. I did it a few times with the symphonic orchestra in the past, but it was a long time ago. And [it's a] challenging song vocally. I don't know how I pulled it out at that time when I did it. I remember struggling a lot. I remember really having really a struggle in the studio while that album was recorded. But now it should be more fun. [Laughs]"

Tarja will release a new metal album, "Frisson Noir", on June 12 via earMUSIC. The LP, which was mixed by Grammy-winning producer Neal Avron (LINKIN PARK, SKILLET, DISTURBED),is described in a press release as "the heaviest record of her career and a powerful statement of identity, strength and belonging". Guests on the 10-song album include Dani Filth (CRADLE OF FILTH),APOCALYPTICA, Marko Hietala (ex-NIGHTWISH) and Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS).

Turunen, who boasts a three-and-a-half octave vocal range, has released five rock/metal solo records since 2007 — including her latest, 2019's "In The Raw".

Turunen was fired from NIGHTWISH at the end of the band's 2005 tour by being presented with an open letter which was published on the NIGHTWISH web site at the same time.

Regarding the marrying of metal and classical music, Tarja told Kerrang! magazine: "Both styles have so much in common. I feel music is just emotion. It can connect people from whatever background. It's a very personal experience, we all have things we like and don’t like, but ultimately music is just emotion. Metal and classical music are both very emotional genres."

RIOT V, the band featuring members of legendary metal pioneers RIOT, has parted ways with singer Todd Michael Hall. He is being temporarily replaced by Italian musician Valentino Francavilla (WHITE SKULL).

On Tuesday (April 28),Todd, who had been with a member of RIOT V since 2013, released the following statement via his social media: "I am stepping down as the lead singer of RIOT V.

"Being a member of RIOT V has made many of my rock & roll dreams come true. While the opportunity has been life changing, it has meant that I have not been able to prioritize other aspects of my life. After 13 years, 3 albums, and over 200 live shows, I need to take a break to focus more on my wife, my family, and my family business.

"Regardless of my what my future holds, I wish the guys the best of luck. I am grateful to Donnie [RIOT V bassist Don Van Stavern] and Mike [Flyntz, RIOT V guitarist] for the opportunity to be a small part of the RIOT legacy. I deeply appreciate the friendship of Donnie, Mike, Frank [Gilchriest, RIOT V drummer], Nick [Lee, RIOT V guitarist], and Jonathan [Reinheimer, RIOT V guitarist]. I am also very proud of the music we made and thankful to everyone who promoted and supported us.

"I am blessed to have met so many wonderful people along the way. God bless everyone around the world who welcomed me warmly, cheered loudly, and sang along. You have brought great joy into my life. Thank you."

A day earlier, RIOT V shared the following announcement: "ATTENTION METAL WARRIORS! We have important news for RIOT's upcoming 2026 tour dates, seems like a lot of bands are going through this with members!

"Unfortunately singer Todd Hall has informed us he cannot perform with the band anymore at this point because of family issues. We wish the best for him and thank him for his years in the band and who knows what the future might hold! In the great tradition of the band and in Mark Reale's beliefs and words, 'the show must go on' for the fans! Mike and Don have been a part of the band for over 40 years and this is not the first time we had to deal with this situation and on such short notice. We have searched for fill ins for the 2026 tour runs and luckily we have recruited Italian guitar virtuoso/singer Valentino Francavilla! Valè has been a longtime fan of the band and performed with us in Japan and loves this opportunity to help out one of his favorite bands at this point belting out the highs and a little guitar!

"As for the long-term we will keep all you Metal Soldiers posted for updates on fill ins and a permanent situation! We are currently working on our 18th record so stay tuned.

In 2013, Todd — a former member of Jack Starr's BURNING STARR — joined the remaining members of RIOT, when they decided to forge ahead in the wake of the death of founding member Mark Reale. Out of respect for Mark and as a way to mark the fifth chapter of RIOT, Donnie Van Stavern and Mike Flyntz decide to alter the name of the band to RIOT V (pronounced "Riot Five"). Todd released three studio albums with RIOT V, "Unleash The Fire" (2014),"Armor Of Light" (2018) and "Mean Streets" (2024),as well as two live albums, "Live At Keep It True Festival" (2018) and "Live In Japan" (2019).

In 2017, Todd independently released his first solo album, "Letters From India", which was a collection of pop songs inspired by his penpal relationship with his wife, Lumpeny, who is from India. Todd met Lumpeny as a result of his HARLET fan club back in 1993. "Letters From India" was released independently, with all proceeds going to support a Christian-based relief organization called the Rescue Ministries Of Mid-Michigan.

In 2019, Todd independently released more solo music in the light rock style via four three-song EPs — "Air", "Earth", "Fire" and "Water" — which are available through all digital download and streaming services.

Also in 2019, Todd went to an open call audition for the hit NBC television show called "The Voice". Out of 40,000 singers who were given consideration, Todd was one of small number to receive a "Blind Audition" and a spot on Season 18, which aired during the first half of 2020. Todd made it on to Team Blake, had three performances on national TV, and made it to the top 20, before being eliminated after the knockout round.

In 2020, Todd connected with METAL CHURCH guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof and the pair bonded over their love for classic rock. The resulting inspiration lead to the writing and recording of Todd's "Sonic Healing" solo album, which was released in May 2021 via Rat Pak Records.

Todd independently released another solo album in the light rock style when "No Winner Takes All" became available through all digital download and streaming services in September 2022. At the same time, a physical version was made available as a double CD with the second CD including all of four of Todd's 2019 "Elements" releases, which made them available in physical form for the first time.

Todd worked with Kurdt Vanderhoof on another set of classic rock-inspired songs. "Off The Rails" was released in October 2024 via Rat Pak Records.

In a new interview with Chris Akin of the Classic Metal Show, SKID ROW bassist Rachel Bolan spoke the band's recently launched first-of-its-kind partnership with USA company Sweetwater, the world's leading online retailer of musical instruments and pro-audio equipment, to search worldwide for SKID ROW's next lead vocalist. The collaboration invites singers from around the world to audition for the opportunity to front one of rock's most enduring and respected acts. Asked if he and his SKID ROW bandmates would consider hiring a different singer for each new album and corresponding touring cycle instead of settling on one person as the "permanent" SKID ROW vocalist, Bolan said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I know what you're saying. You're not the first person to say that. But we've had six singers. BLACK SABBATH still has us beat. But it is what it is, man. And no, me personally, to have a different singer each record, that would stress me out."

Rachel continued: "We just wanna get someone that understands how we work, how we tour, that the road isn't always great, because it's not for any band. And we want someone with experience that knows that. But the people that we're interested in past the virtual audition stage, we discuss with them. It's, like, 'Here's how we operate, and this is how long you'll be away from home.' We're completely transparent. 'And here's how we've been doing it for 40 years.' And they gotta decide, like, if you get the gig, you have to be ready for this. And sometimes you gotta leave the hotel room at 3:30 a.m. because we gotta be at the airport by five. And it's just the way it is. And that's how we operate. And the hang is so important. We've learned that over the years. It's just, like, you could go out and do great shows, but sometimes you're just, like, 'I can't be in a room with this guy anymore.' [Laughs] You know what I mean? And I'm sure they say that about me too. But the hang is such a big part of it. And the great thing is we have the luxury of time right now. We're not in the middle of making a record. We don't have a tour booked. We're writing songs, we're piling up some songs and whatnot, 'cause when we find someone, things are gonna start happening fast, We'll hit the road again and we'll probably go in the studio again. And so we're taking our time because we have that luxury to do that."

Asked if he and his SKID ROW bandmates are "gun shy at all" because of the 2024 departure of Erik Grönwall, Bolan said: "It was unexpected. So, there's a little PTSD going on there. And that's why we wanna make sure — that's why we're taking our time."

Grönwall, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in March 2021, announced his departure from SKID ROW in March 2024, saying that it had become increasingly "difficult to prioritize" his health and full recovery as the lead singer of the group.

HALESTORM's Lzzy Hale played four shows as the guest frontwoman of SKID ROW in the spring of 2024.

Erik was SKID ROW's fourth frontman since Sebastian Bach's departure.

Bach fronted SKID ROW until 1996, when he was fired. Instead of throwing in the towel, the remaining members took a hiatus and went on to play briefly in a band called OZONE MONDAY. In 1999, SKID ROW reformed and, after a bit of shuffling over the years, featured a lineup consisting of bassist Rachel Bolan, guitarists Dave "Snake" Sabo and Scotti Hill, alongside drummer Rob Hammersmith and singer Johnny Solinger. SKID ROW fired Solinger over the phone in April 2015, a few hours before announcing ex-TNT vocalist Tony Harnell as his replacement. Eight months later, Harnell exited the band and was replaced by South African-born, British-based singer ZP Theart, who previously fronted DRAGONFORCE, TANK and I AM I. Theart was fired from SKID ROW in February 2022 and was replaced by Grönwall, who was previously a member of the Swedish hard rock band H.E.A.T.

Six years ago, Bolan confirmed that he and his bandmates "were entertaining the idea" of reuniting with Bach following Harnell's departure. But Rachel shot down the possibility of a rekindling of his friendship with Sebastian, explaining: "Well… Here's the soundbite for Blabbermouth. I wouldn't say we were friends [when we were in a band together]. We were bandmates. You know what I mean? We're two very different people." Bolan added that he hadn't seen Bach "in years."

Seven years ago, Bach was asked by Rolling Stone what it would take for SKID ROW to be reunited. He responded: "It would take those guys to realize that I have a lifetime manager. His name is Rick Sales. I've been with him since 2006. They don't want to deal with a guy like that. They want to give some singer who doesn't have a manager $700 to $800 bucks a week. I've got a team that's worked with me and don't allow me to get fucked around. I didn't have that team when I was 19 years old."

In response to Bach's statements about the earnings of SKID ROW's singer, Sabo told Rolling Stone in an e-mail: "I guess fact-checking isn't in his skill set… The five of us go on that stage as a band and we all get paid equally. We're in this together. There's no egos."

Sebastian went on to say that SKID ROW was "close to reuniting, but then it didn't happen. The fact that it didn't happen obviously makes me somewhat bitter, because life is only getting shorter, as the song says," he added.

"I wouldn't say 'came close,'" Bolan told Rolling Stone in an e-mail response to Bach's account of the reunion talks. "We entertained the idea. Snake and I went as far as talking with agents and promoters about money. But we quickly learned after a few text conversations, why we fired him in the first place. Nothing is worth your happiness and peace of mind."

Last Friday (April 24),POISON frontman Bret Michaels, a Western Pennsylvania native born in Butler and the son of a veteran and steelworker, brought his signature high-energy performance to the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh. Bret put on a high-energy concert with hip-hop superstar Wiz Khalifa at the Draft Theater outside Acrisure Stadium, kicking off the festivities before the second and third rounds of the draft.

When his appearance in Pittsburgh was first announced earlier in the month, Michaels said in a statement: "I cannot be more honored, excited, and fired up to perform at the Pittsburgh 2026 Draft. As a Western Pennsylvania native and lifelong Steelers and NFL fan, this is a dream come true. As a young diabetic searching for hope, football, music, family and friends inspired me to stay positive and never give up. Sharing the stage with my friend Wiz Khalifa makes this even more special. This will be a 'Black And Yellow' meets 'Nothin' But a Good Time' celebration, and we will bring 1000% energy to the stage for the fans and the city of Pittsburgh."

Michaels told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about his appearance: "I'm telling you right now, this draft is nothin' but a good draft — that's the vibe of it. And that's exactly what this is going to be. We are going to welcome everyone to Pittsburgh from around the NFL, around the world. This is a celebration of the NFL, the NFL fans, the young talent that's about to have a life-changing moment. We're celebrating that, but we're celebrating the city of Pittsburgh, and where I grew up — coming from Butler and just as a lifelong diehard Steelers fan — what an honor for me to be able to be a part of it, musically. And then to have my friend Wiz Khalifa and me mash it up, or co-headline it, together onstage — it's going to be a good NFL Draft."

In a new interview with Neil Jones of TotalRock, vocalist/guitarist Andy Cairns of the Northern Irish rock outfit THERAPY? spoke about the band's plans for the follow-up to 2023's "Hard Cold Fire" album. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "The reason why THERAPY? hasn't had a record out for a while is because just after COVID I went and had an MRI scan 'cause my knees were sore, and it turned out I needed two full knee replacements — not one, but two. And they have to leave six months between each one. So in February 2025 I had my left knee replaced, and that's 12 weeks rehab, learning to walk properly again… It's all metal and steel in there. And then we were able to do a few shows over that summer. And then in November of '25, I had my right knee fully replaced. And the rehab just really stopped about three weeks ago."

Asked if the damage to his knees was a result of "the road rigor" and all the gigs THERAPY? has done over the course of the last three and a half decades, Andy said: "I don't know. I've been doing this a long time. I only turned 60 last year, so they did say to me, 'You're quite young for someone that needs new knees.' But I'm glad I got 'em done, because they were agony. I mean, I was living with them really badly for two and a half years, and it was agony and I was on all kinds of painkillers to get on stage, and I had to make sure I sat in the dressing room with my leg up and didn't move. And it was no fun, really. I mean, the adrenaline's a wonderful thing. Adrenaline got me through all the shows, but then I said to the record company, I said to our management, and more importantly, I said to Michael [McKeegan, bass] and Neil [Cooper, drums] in the band, 'I need to get this sorted. And it's going to mean at least a year out of THERAPY? stuff.' So they were very good about it. And yeah, [the knees are] done now."

Andy went on to say that a new THERAPY? album likely would have been released by now had it not been for his knee replacements. "It would've been, 'cause we started writing it," he explained. "Because we don't all live nearby — Michael still lives in Ireland and Neil lives up near Derby and I live in Cambridge here — it's like a military operation to get us all together. And we do it in blocks of a week at a time. Then we go back and all this. And I think what happened was we'd started writing some songs. We got together and then we took the decision about the knees. And I found it very difficult to write lyrics when I was recovering, because for 12 weeks at a time I was like staring at the four walls, not really going out. And I wasn't able to go to gigs. I wasn't able to go and visit mates. So, the lyrics were really slow. But then, as I said, we've just been back in again. We've written the majority of the record. We're going to record half of it in May. And it's sounding really good. We're using [producer] Chris Sheldon, who did [1994's] 'Troublegum', who did 'Hard Cold Fire'. He's doing it. He's heard the songs. He likes them. So, yeah, for our fans, it's a bit disappointing that it took so long, but we're glad that we're doing it now. We could have maybe — I don't know what we could have done — we could have maybe done it on a computer, but it's not the THERAPY? way… We got together just before I got my second knee done in November. And we had lots of really good music. We had finished songs [musically], but no lyrics for a lot of songs. And then I couldn't get anything for them. And then when [my right] knee began to recover — it was just about the second week in January — and I had a really good day when I went out to the famous man shed and I was able to stand up and I got three songs finished in a day. And then that was it. Regardless of my knees, every THERAPY? album's been the same. It's nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, then gush. [Laughs]"

As for when THERAPY? plans to complete the new album and release it, Andy said: "The next thing we're doing is we're in rehearsals for another week to finish off this album in April. Then we go in and record five or six songs in May. Then we go over to Italy. We're playing with DROPKICK MURPHYS in Italy. Then we come back and we do the rest of the album. Then we have a summer of festivals. And then the idea is we don't really know if we'll release the album before the end of the year, or we might go old school and release a couple of singles and tour the singles, and then release the album in January next year and do a full tour."

"Hard Cold Fire" was released in May 2023 via Marshall Records.

Back in 2023, Cairns told Hot Press about the 30th anniversary of "Troublegum", which is widely considered to be THERAPY?'s most successful album, having sold over one million copies worldwide: "Lemmy [of MOTÖRHEAD] was asked years ago does he ever get tired of talking about 'Ace Of Spades'. He said, 'If you're going to be remembered for one song, make sure it's a fucking good one.' I think a little bit like that about 'Troublegum'. We're very lucky to have an album like that in our canon. It's full of signature songs, has sold over a million copies, and it all happened out of the blue. It wasn't really tied to any genre and the lyrics are like punchlines to jokes. I wasn't a teenager when I wrote it, but some of the lines were left over from when I was. I think most can relate to that time when you're 16, 17, and life's shit and you're trying to figure out where you are in the world. We'ee very grateful for what the album has done for us."

According to Robb Report, legendary guitarist Steve Vai has listed his longtime home in Encino, California for nearly $11.8 million.

The 65-year-old musician, who relocated to San Diego's Rancho Santa Fe area with his wife Pia in early 2025, paid $1.2 million for the Encino property three decades ago.

Set behind gates in Encino's coveted Music Row neighborhood, the estate was originally conceived as a mid-century residence and expanded to over 10,000 square feet, featuring five ensuite bedrooms, nine-foot ceilings, original poured-in-place terrazzo throughout the entry, foyer, and patios, and acacia wood flooring throughout, complemented by acacia wood flooring and refined finishes. An additional 3000 square feet has been added which includes studio, pool house, and gym.

As a result of his recovery, he is proud to announce his partnership with Fxck Cancer to hold a special auction of a custom one-of-a-kind drum kit from ddrum with proceeds going to cancer support and research.

Cox comments: "GRATITUDE. It's a word that gets thrown around a lot, but it hits differently for me these days.

"April 1, 2025, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer. I'm not unique. It feels like a lot of us are dealing with this or know someone who is. It's dark, it's scary, and it changes the lives of everyone in its orbit.

"The first thing I said to my wife was that I was going to fight with everything I had for my family! There were a lot of days I couldn't make it out of bed, but I didn't want cancer to define me. COAL CHAMBER played its first two shows in eight years at the Sick New World festival in Las Vegas in May 2023 and at the Inkcarceration Music And Tattoo Festival in Mansfield, Ohio in July 2023.

In January 2025, COAL CHAMBER canceled its previously rescheduled "Fiend For The Fans" U.S. tour.
