SLASH On ALEX LIFESON And GEDDY LEE's Decision To Tour As RUSH Again: 'I Think It's Wonderful'In a new interview with Chuck Armstrong of Loudwire Nights, GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash weighed in on the announcement that RUSH was reuniting for a tour next year. The limited run of summer and fall 2026 dates — bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson's first official shows under the RUSH banner in 11 years — will begin at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, site of the last RUSH concert on the legendary Canadian band's "R40" anniversary tour. Joining the duo on the trek will be German drummer Anika Nilles, who toured with legendary guitarist Jeff Beck in 2022 and has been rehearsing with Lee and Lifeson in preparation for the tour, dubbed "Fifty Something".
Slash told Loudwire Nights (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Alex, who I'd never met before, just a couple years ago, he did a cameo in a movie that I produced called 'The Breach'. And it was shot in Ontario. And my producing partner knew somebody that knew Alex or whatever, and he called me up and he goes, 'What do you think about Alex for this character?' Small part but important part in this movie, but a lot of dialogue. And I was, like, 'Well, if Alex is up to it, cool.' And so after the movie was shot — I wasn't there for the shoot; it was during COVID — and so I was in L.A. scoring and those guys were all in this hotel, this abandoned hotel in the woods in Ontario, and they couldn't leave because of COVID. It was a really crazy production. But Alex shot his part from somewhere in his house, and he filmed it there. And when we were doing a screening, the first screening of the movie, Alex was there, and I flew in. And so we hung out and had a great time. We went to dinner and talked about all kinds of different stuff. But I could tell that he was really itching to go out and play, and he didn't wanna go out and play in just whatever throw-together thing. He wanted to do something, but he didn't seem to know what he wanted to do. Anyway, but I got that feeling, and I sort of felt bad for him 'cause I could tell that there's a… I know how I would feel. There's a certain amount of frustration in not being able to just do what you wanna do. So with this announcement, I thought, 'Man, that's so cool, that they're gonna go out there and they've got a great drummer and they're gonna go out there and play.' And she is going out there and honoring [late RUSH drummer] Neil [Peart]. And I think it's wonderful."
Slash previously talked about meeting Alex during a 2023 interview with Banger TV to promote "The Breach", which was directed by Rodrigo Gudiño. Addressing how Lifeson took on a fill-in acting role in part of the film, Slash said: "Rodrigo called me up, and he goes, 'What do you think about Alex Lifeson?' I was, like, 'Are you kidding? That would be fucking awesome.' So I was really happy that he came in and did that."
Slash added: "I know Alex, but I've never jammed with him or anything. I don't know him that well, but he's a really nice guy, and the fact that he's in this is really cool."
RUSH will perform multiple shows in cities across Canada, the United States and Mexico, beginning June 7, 2026 at The Kia Forum in Los Angeles. These special "evening with" shows will find the band playing two sets each night. Each show will feature a distinct selection of songs and RUSH will build each night's setlist from a catalogue of 35 songs including their greatest hits and fan favorites.
After Lee and Lifeson announced RUSH's initial 2026 tour dates in early October, they instantly sold out. They then doubled the tour's length due to increased demand before adding even more dates to the trek.
At the moment, the "Fifty Something" tour is scheduled to stretch into the fall and early winter, with sold-out shows in Chicago, Cleveland, Fort Worth, Los Angeles, New York and Toronto, as well as dates in Atlanta, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C., to name a few.
Peart died in January 2020 after a three-year battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. He was 67 years old.
RUSH waited three days to announce Peart's passing, setting off shockwaves and an outpouring of grief from fans and musicians all over the world.
Since Peart's death, Lifeson and Lee have not recorded any new music or performed live under the RUSH name, although both of them confirmed that several drummers reached out to them in the days after the legendary drummer's passing about the possibility of stepping in for Neil.

METALLICA's Early Producer FLEMMING RASMUSSEN Reveals Secrets Behind Band's Sound In New ToneGodz MasterclassLegendary producer Flemming Rasmussen, the man behind the sound of METALLICA's classic early albums "Ride The Lightning", "Master Of Puppets" and "…And Justice for All", has teamed up with ToneGodz to release an unprecedented online masterclass revealing exactly how some of the most influential metal records in history were created.
Over 15 hours of in-depth lessons, Rasmussen walks viewers through the complete recording, mixing, and production process that defined METALLICA's golden era.
The ToneGodz masterclass offers rare insights not just for fans, but for producers, engineers, and musicians seeking to understand how these tones were crafted. The series includes:
* Exclusive breakdowns of sessions from the original METALLICA recordings
* Detailed production techniques and workflows used at Sweet Silence Studios
* Real mixing walkthroughs with Flemming explaining decisions track by track
* Never-before-heard stories from the band's recording sessions
Custom IR packs and drum samples created by Flemming
Zack Elekes, co-founder of ToneGodz, comments: "This is more than a masterclass — it's a piece of metal history. We wanted to preserve and share the true story of how these albums were made, straight from the man who shaped their sound."
The project has already gathered strong anticipation online and the masterclass is available now exclusively at www.tonegodz.com.
Rasmussen is an award-winning Danish producer and engineer best known for producing METALLICA's "Ride The Lightning" (1984),"Master Of Puppets" (1986) and "…And Justice For All" (1988). His work has shaped the sound of heavy metal for generations and influenced countless artists worldwide.
ToneGodz is a recently started music education and production platform dedicated to bringing legendary producers' knowledge directly to musicians, engineers, and fans. Each masterclass captures the craft, creativity, and untold stories behind the world's most iconic records.
In a 2014 interview with RockHall.com, Flemming was asked if he had a favorite METALLICA recording, one he was most proud of. He responded: "I would say 'Welcome Home (Sanitarium)' on 'Master Of Puppets' is probably one of them. That's the one with the mono-stereo — and I'm a sucker for that kind of shit, you know, when you sit with headphones and you go, 'What the hell was that?' ... There's a lot of those, I think theres a lot of songs on all three albums that I'm really proud of. I think 'Creeping Death' on ['Ride The Lightning'] was probably where we really nailed the METALLICA sound. That whole epic kind of thing. It's also a very, very good song — that, of course, has something to do with it. We all had this feeling where what we were doing, we were going to go a long way. We were going to change music history. And I think that was the project from the beginning. Also, you know, we think about it and they had their own thing going, and they had this tremendous energy, that, kind of, is a trademark for the band. They don't want to rely on MTV to play their videos, so they didn't make any videos, because they didn't care because that wasn't important to them. It's been like that with METALLICA always." 1

BAD COMPANY's SIMON KIRKE Says He And PAUL RODGERS Will Play Two Songs At ROCK HALL InductionIn a new interview with Lyndsanity! With Lyndsey Parker, BAD COMPANY drummer Simon Kirke spoke about the British supergroup's upcoming Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction, which was announced in April 2025 after decades of eligibility. Asked if fans can expect to see him and BAD COMPANY singer Paul Rodgers perform at the induction ceremony, which will be held on November 8 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, Simon said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I think the secret is out that we will perform. I don't know — I might get into trouble, but I saw some Google news that BAD COMPANYwill perform at the Hall Of Fame. So I will cautiously say yes. I'm not at liberty to say which songs. I mean, quite honestly, I don't give a shit. We're gonna play, and whatever Paul chooses is fine by me. And just to play with him again is gonna be a real thrill for me, 'cause I missed him. I missed playing with the band. I miss playing particularly with Paul, 'cause he's such a wonderful singer."
Asked how long it has been since he and Rodgers performed together, Simon said: "We did our last show over five years ago, in Las Vegas, of all places where BAD COMPANY and LYNYRD SKYNYRD were flip-flopping a headline tour. And it was one of the best gigs we ever played on. So thank God we finished on a good gig and not a shitty one."
As for how Paul's voice is these days, considering that Rodgers revealed in September 2023 for the first time that years earlier he suffered 11 minor strokes and two major strokes, which nearly ended his career, Kirke said: "I haven't heard him sing since [we last played together], quite honestly. I know he has sung, and we are gonna do a couple of rehearsals for the cameras and so on and so forth. But when you have a voice that naturally good, it's gonna take a hell of a lot for it to fray or devalue or whatever. So I think he's gonna be fine for the two songs that we've chosen."
This past August, Kirke told Defenders Of The Faith about finally being inducted into the Rock Hall: "We're very pleased. We're very honored. Quite honestly, I think it's about time [laughs], but I don't want to appear ungrateful.
"BAD COMPANY, as you know, have been around 50 years. We influenced a couple of generations of bands, so it's about time and we're very happy," he continued. "I'm also happy, because dear old Mick Ralphs, our guitarist who passed away a couple of months ago, learned that BAD COMPANY was going to be inducted just a couple of weeks before he finally passed away. That made us very, very happy indeed."
The now-75-year-old Rodgers suffered his first major stroke in 2016 and a second in October 2019, which required him to undergo a major surgery to recover from. At the time, Rodgers underwent a carotid endarterectomy, a procedure to remove plaque from the arteries running through your neck to your brain, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
This past June, Ralphs died at the age of 81 due to complications from a stroke he suffered in 2016.
Other inductees in the Performer category are SOUNDGARDEN, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, OutKast and THE WHITE STRIPES.
BAD COMPANY has been eligible for induction since 1999 and received its first nomination this year.
The induction ceremony will once again stream live on Disney+, and an edited version will air on ABC at a later date.
Asked by U.K. radio veteran Paul Stephenson of VRP Rocks if he ever got a reason why BAD COMPANY hadn't been nominated earlier, Simon said: "No. Well… Hmm. There are several reasons. One of them being, I think because BAD COMPANY had three lineups, it kind of diluted our currency, if you will. If you can imagine a band like CREAM and they change Ginger Baker or they change Jack [Bruce] or Eric [Clapton], God forbid, a couple of times, it would kind of dilute and muddy the waters of the committee. So as I'm told by this insider, they wanted to do a FREE-BAD COMPANY doubleheader, as it were, like [when] THE FACES and THE SMALL FACES were inducted, but for some reason it didn't show up. There was also a political thing that I can't really go into without getting kind of into hot water, but it was a combination. I think the main thing was the triple lineup… It just wasn't a clear-cut 'Let's induct BAD COMPANY.' There were factors that now have dissipated."
Back in November 2023, Kirke was asked by "The Bob Lefsetz Podcast" how he felt about BAD COMPANY not having been inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. He responded: "I think it's such a travesty, quite honestly. And not just that, but FREE — FREE certainly should be [in the Hall], because FREE has been around since 1968, and the two bands have been responsible for influencing a lot of bands who are already in the Hall. So I feel pretty bad about it. But I'm not gonna go on too much about it. It's just I think we should be in. Certainly FREE. And I think Paul Rodgers should be in on his own merits, as one of the great rock vocalists of all time. If Eric Clapton and Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck can be inducted as solo artists, then certainly Paul Rodgers should be in there. That's my two cents."
Later in the chat, Kirke offered one possible explanation for why BAD COMPANY had been overlooked by the Rock Hall.
"I think because of BAD COMPANY's changing lineups over the 50 years that we'd been together, it kind of devalued our currency a little bit," he said. "You had the Brian Howe era, you had the Paul Rodgers era, one and two, when Paul rejoined the band, we had Robert Hart. So I honestly don't know why we have not been nominated — not even inducted; you have to be nominated first, as you know."
In September 2023, Rodgers told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that he wasn't bothered by his absence from the Rock Hall. "Well, it doesn't affect my daily life. It doesn't affect what I do in any way at all," he said. "It's one of those things. But I remember years and years ago, Ahmet Ertegun, who was the head of Atlantic Records [and a co-founder of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame], said to me, 'Paul, we're making this museum of rock and roll. Do you guys wanna be part of it?' And I said, 'What, a museum of rock and roll? What's it called?' He said, 'Well, it's called the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.' I said, 'Well, I don't think rock and roll belongs in a museum.' So it's my bad, I guess. And he asked me a couple of times, and I kind of like refused, I guess, basically. So, you know, there you go. Onwards and upwards."

GEORGE LYNCH On Why He Is Still Playing Shows As LYNCH MOB After Completion Of Band's 'Farewell' Tour: 'I Lied'In a new interview with Tim Caple of Rock 'N' Blues Experience, legendary guitarist George Lynch spoke about why he is still playing shows under the LYNCH MOB banner, seven months after the completion of the band's "The Final Ride" farewell tour celebrating LYNCH MOB's 35-year legacy. Joining Lynch on stage at all the recent gigs were vocalist Andrew Freeman (LAST IN LINE),drummer Brian Tichy (WHITESNAKE, FOREIGNER, OZZY OSBOURNE) and bassist Jaron Gulino. George said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, I think you can see a common thread throughout this interview that I make really bad decisions [laughs] throughout my life. Horrible. You do not want me in charge of any of your decision making. So, if I give you any advice, do the opposite for a better outcome. I don't wanna be in charge. I shouldn't be managing anything or making any decisions about anything other than just playing my guitar and writing music. Having said that, I still try to do the right thing and be smart, but whatever.
"So we decided, or I decided, I think earlier this year, if I'm not mistaken, that this was the 35th anniversary, I believe, of the band, so maybe let's go out with a nice bookend and put out a good record and call it a day," he explained. "And we called it 'The Final Ride' — the tour was called 'The Final Ride'. And so I did that and sort of — not fired the band; we just all agreed to do this. So everybody went their separate ways. And there was some momentum and some interest because of that announcement. So all of a sudden my agent started getting all this work opportunity. He talked me, as agents do, talked me out of quitting LYNCH MOB touring. He said, 'Well, just add a few more shows.' Well, that's parlayed into, we just kept it going. So here we are. We're still touring, we're still putting out records. It's a different band than it was last year, but… Brian Tichy's back in the band. Andrew Freeman, Jaron Gulino and myself. It's a great band. And why not?"
He continued: "So, people are, like, 'Well, you said you were retiring LYNCH MOB.' I go, 'Well, I lied. I changed my mind. I'm sorry. Sue me. I'll see you in court.' I mean, what do you want me to tell you?
"So that's what it is. I make silly decisions — off-the-cuff decisions — sometimes that aren't well thought out. Here we are."
Tichy was previously a touring member of LYNCH MOB in 2010, 2012–2013, 2015, 2020 and 2025; Gulino was in LYNCH MOB from 2022 to 2025; and Freeman played with LYNCH MOB in 2003, 2010 and 2019.
This past July, the same four musicians played their first two shows under the name of what at the time was supposed to be George's new touring entity, GEORGE LYNCH & THE MOB.
Earlier in the year, George told Talking With Cars that he would put together "another" touring band with "a revolving door of different people." He added that he was "tentatively calling it GEORGE LYNCH & THE MOB, so people can identify with my name and the fact that there's still the LYNCH MOB aspect to that name without the bad connotations."
LYNCH MOB played what was being billed as the group's "final" concert on March 22 at the Medina Entertainment Center in Medina, Minnesota.
LYNCH MOB was formed in 1989 after Lynch parted ways with his former band DOKKEN. Their debut release, "Wicked Sensation", was met with critical and fan acclaim and went on to be certified gold in sales by the RIAA. The band would continue on through the years with a cast of talented players joining Lynch throughout their musical journey over the course of six more studio albums.
In August 2020, Lynch announced that he was ending LYNCH MOB due to the racial insensitivity of the moniker, saying he would no longer record or perform under that name. Two years later, George had a change of heart, explaining that he had to "live with the fact that [the name LYNCH MOB] has some negative connotations that I probably have to continue explaining for the rest of my life, and I don't mind doing that. But it is a brand that I built, and I'm just gonna stick with it. As far as a marketing thing and a brand thing and a business thing and a working thing, and it keeps my band guys working and it keeps the fans happy, it makes sense."
LYNCH MOB will release its ninth and final full-length studio album, "Dancing With The Devil", on November 28, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl.
As was the case with LYNCH MOB's eighth studio album, 2023's "Babylon", "Dancing With The Devil" features Lynch alongside vocalist Gabriel Colón, bassist Jaron Gulino (TANTRIC, HEAVENS EDGE) and drummer Jimmy D'Anda (ex-BULLETBOYS).

RODDY BOTTUM Doesn't See FAITH NO MORE Reunion Happening Again: 'I Don't Think Anyone's Up For It At This Point'In a new interview with Greg Prato of Alternative Nation, FAITH NO MORE co-founder, musical trailblazer, and queer icon Roddy Bottum — who is promoting the upcoming release of his memoir "The Royal We" — was asked if he would consider playing shows again with his bandmates. He responded: "I don't think so. No." Pressed for a reason for his reluctance to reunite with the influential alt-metal act, which scrapped all of its previously announced fall 2021 performances more than four years ago, saying singer Mike Patton was unable to perform as hoped due to mental health issues, partially exacerbated by the pandemic, Roddy explained: "It's not just me. I don't think anyone's sort of up for it at this point. We had a bunch of shows that we were gonna play, and they got canceled, just for various reasons. But I don't think the course that we were on has fixed itself. I just don't see it happening again, honestly. I think we did a really good job. We played a bunch of reunion tours, and I think we did what we kind of set out to do. So I don't think anyone's upset about it or anything. But I mean, for sure, getting back together would mean a big paycheck, but I think all of us are pretty good with what we did, sort of just, like, artistically with the band and committing to ourselves and playing with each other. I think we're all pretty good with the decisions that we've made up to now, and I don't see what could really happen more getting back together and doing more shows."
FAITH NO MORE, which hasn't played a concert since 2016, initially reunited for touring purposes in 2009, 12 years after issuing its previous studio set, "Album Of The Year", and followed that up with 2015's "Sol Invictus" album. Asked by Alternative Nation what he recalled about FAITH NO MORE's reunion shows, Bottum said: "When we did the first reunion tour, we had broken up for like… almost 15 years. And it was kind of, like, I used to have dreams when I was younger — I get to school and, 'Oh my God, I forgot to study for the test.' And then the test is right then, and I'm, like, 'Oh my God, I'm gonna fail.' At some point after FAITH NO MORE broke up, I kept having these dreams that I would show up, 'Oh my God. FAITH NO MORE was doing a reunion tour, and I forgot to learn the songs.' It became this thing that sort of replaced that dream scenario for me. So, I kept having these dreams. That was a nightmare I kept having. And then we structured a whole tour and learned the songs and played the songs and did the tour, and it's, like, I was able to address that nightmare in a real, actual physical sense. And I think it was key in moving forward in my life in some weird way. Plus, it was just really fun. Billy [Gould, FAITH NO MORE bassist] and I have been friends since we were, like — I don't know — nine or 10 years old. So, it was fun to sort of tap back into that friendship and just hang out."
Last April, FAITH NO MORE drummer Mike Bordin addressed the band's status in an interview with the "Let There Be Talk" podcast with rock and roll comedian Dean Delray. He said at the time: "All I can say is, and I think I do want this to be on the record, actually — because we don't promote ourselves, we don't talk about ourselves, and that's, that's really been to our detriment. But we'd been rehearsing for six months for these dates [in September/October 2021]. We'd been rehearsing instrumentally and we incredibly sounded phenomenal. I mean, the bass player said, 'I've never heard us sound this good. This is how these songs sounded in my mind.' And we've never gotten that on album, on live, whatever. I mean, we were ready, we were prepared. And it came to pass that when the gear was in the truck, when it was rolling to Chicago, 36 hours before we were supposed to be on stage, and our guy [Mike Patton] doesn't show for the rehearsal, the one rehearsal that we're gonna do. And we go to go see him and see what's going on. 'What the hell's going on here? Our gear's rolling already to the gig.' And it was very clear that he was unable at that point to physically do it. We made the decision that, 'Look, we've gotta support our guy.' It's gonna be a shit storm canceling fucking 75 shows, but none of us wants to be the guy that breaks his back and forces him to do something that he's not in the position to be able to do. It wasn't even an argument. The only argument was, 'How the fuck did we logistically do this? Because we have to.' I mean, we did support him in our way, and whether that's perceived or not is beyond — I can't control it. So we pull these shows and just wait to see. Hopefully things are better, and try to find out what we can around the edges. But ultimately shows get started to get booked with another band," referencing Patton's sporadic appearances with his long-running avant-garde/thrash band MR. BUNGLE in the last three years, "and that's continued to this day. So it's my take, my position, my statement on it is that he's gone from being unable to do the shows to clearly being unwilling to do shows with us. And that's heavy. That's a big difference. That's a big difference. And we haven't really had much dialogue on it."
Bordin continued: "It doesn't feel great to me. It honestly kind of hurts my feelings a little bit, but that's personal. That's a private thing. It's business. We were never gonna force somebody to do something that they weren't able to do. And now, as I say, it looks like it's more really about being willing to do it."
Bordin clarified that he was "grateful for what [Patton has] given to us. I mean, we're blessed to have been blessed by such a gigantic, enormous talent," he said. "And the future? I don't know. Will he be willing to do stuff or not? It's not for me to say.
"I tell my kids a lot of times, especially when they were young, it's, like, appreciate what you have and don't really trip on what you don't have," the drummer continued. "So I'm grateful for the time we had with [former FAITH NO MORE guitarist] Jim [Martin]. I'm grateful for the time we have with [former FAITH NO MORE singer] Chuck [Mosley]. I'm grateful for the time even we had with [former FAITH NO MORE member] Courtney [Love] 'cause we learned from all of it. And certainly am I grateful for the time with Mike Patton? Yeah, because my life would be very different without it. But I can't force him to do something that he, from where I'm sitting, doesn't seem to wanna do. That's all I can say. And I don't wanna be controversial. I'm not looking for a fucking headline — I'm really not. I'm just trying to tell you sort of what it looks like from here."
This past January, Gould was asked by Chile's Radio Futuro what is going on with the band at the moment. He responded: "I don't know. I honestly don't know. And you don't have to believe me, but there's nothing… Right now we're in a really weird spot, a really strange spot, and I can't really tell you what's going on. I don't know myself. I get different information from people, and I'm in the band, so…"
When the interviewer suggested that Gould "calls the shots" in FAITH NO MORE, Bill replied: "Uh, not really. If I did, probably we'd be playing in Chile next week. [Laughs]"
In October 2024, Bottum said that FAITH NO MORE was on "semi-permanent hiatus".
After FAITH NO MORE canceled its fall 2021 performances, the other members of the band issued a statement expressing their disappointment about the tour cancelation while also throwing their support behind Patton.
In a 2022 interview with The Guardian, Patton revealed he developed agoraphobia and depression during lockdown, and started drinking heavily. "Because I was isolated so much, going outside was a hard thing to do," he said, "and that's a horrible thing. And the idea of doing more FAITH NO MORE shows — it was stressful. It affected me mentally. I don't know why, but the drinking just… happened."
Patton didn't return to the stage until December 2022, when MR. BUNGLE played six shows in South America.
In July 2022, Patton discussed the mental health issues which caused the cancelation of FAITH NO MORE and MR. BUNGLE's live appearances in an interview with Rolling Stone. At the time he said: "It's easy to blame it on the pandemic. But I'll be honest, man: At the beginning of the pandemic, I was like, 'This is fucking great. I can stay home and record.' I've got a home studio. So I was like, 'Yeah, what's the big deal?' And then something clicked, and I became completely isolated and almost antisocial [and] afraid of people. That sort of anxiety, or whatever you want to call it, led to other issues, which I choose not to discuss."
Asked to elaborate on the "other issues" that led to the cancelations and whether that included "substances" and "alcohol", Patton said: "It was a little bit of everything. But mostly, in my experience, it was mostly mental. I saw some therapists and all that stuff, which is the first time I ever had to do that in my life. And they basically diagnosed me as having agoraphobia; like, I was afraid of people. I got freaked out by being around people. And maybe that was because I spent two years basically indoors during Covid. I don't know. Maybe it reinforced feelings that I already had. But just knowing about it, talking about it, really helped."
Mike said that he realized he had a problem "right around the time that FAITH NO MORE was about to go back on the road. That's when I kind of lost it, and it was ugly and not cool," he said. "A few days before we were supposed to go on the road. I told the guys, 'Hey, man, I don't think I can do it.' Somehow my confidence was broken down. I didn't want to be in front of people, which is weird because I spent half of my life doing that. It was very hard to explain. And there were some broken feelings on both sides about it, but it's what I had to do. Because otherwise something really bad could have happened… It was right before our first rehearsal, and I just freaked out. I just said, 'I can't do it.' They had been rehearsing so [pauses] if I were them I'd be really pissed off at me. And they were. And they probably still are. But it's just about being true to yourself and knowing what your limits are. And I knew that if I kept pushing, it could have been some sort of disastrous result. It was just like, 'Goddamn it. Maybe I don't need to do this. Even though I agreed to do it, and it's gonna bum a lot of people out. I gotta take care of myself.' So I'm getting better at that."
As for where things stood with FAITH NO MORE as of July 2022, Patton told Rolling Stone: "Radio silence. [Laughs]. I don't know. We may reschedule stuff; we may not. I'll just leave it at that. It's a little confusing and complicated. So if we do, we do. If we don't, that's cool, too."
Due on November 4 via Akashic Books, "The Royal We" documents Bottum's travels from Los Angeles — growing up gay with no role models — to San Francisco, where he formed FAITH NO MORE and went on to tour the world relentlessly, surviving heroin addiction and the plight of AIDS, to become a queer icon.

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's JESSE LEACH On Seeing MOTÖRHEAD Live For First Time: LEMMY 'Was One Of The Last Real Rock Stars'In a new interview with Setlist.fm, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE frotnman Jesse Leach reflected on seeing MOTÖRHEAD for the first time nearly a decade and a half ago. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We were on tour with TIMES OF GRACE, which is a project I have with Adam [Dutkiewicz, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE guitarist] on the side. And we were on tour for that record, and I'd never seen MOTÖRHEAD live. And I had access to side stage. So you're standing there. And one thing I always heard about was the volume; it's, like, the loudest. And I'm, like, 'All right. Cool.' So I had my earplugs in, prepared — or so I thought. And the thing about MOTÖRHEAD was [MOTÖRHEAD frontman] Lemmy. Lemmy was just — even just seeing the mic stand without him even standing there, you're just, like, 'I'm pre preparing to watch an absolute legend do what he does.' And if you're watching the band, they're not running around like crazy. He's just iconic. He's got that power stance up to the microphone. And I just sat there in absolute awe, having to plug my ears and then for three days after still having tinnitus — it was that loud. And bands don't do that anymore."
Jesse continued: "Most bands, including KILLSWITCH, we're on in-ears. It's a reasonable volume on stage. You get the volume outside, but not on stage. But MOTÖRHEAD was full tilt. And to me, Lemmy was one of the last real rock stars, 'cause he didn't have to do much. You just sat there and it was like watching this rock god hanging out, just hanging out, singing these songs that everybody knew, and watching the audience bouncing up and down and being probably 25, 30 feet from him. And I never even bothered him. I didn't go up to him after; I just didn't bother him. I didn't wanna cross that boundary line of fan. And I had a couple of opportunities. I saw him at the Rainbow [Bar & Grill in West Hollywood, California] as well. I didn't bother him. And I kind of like that I didn't, 'cause he lives in my mind a completely different iconic thing, where I didn't engage with him. I just let him be the rock god that he is. So, yeah, I'll never forget that as long as I live. And there's not many people who can just kind of just hit a power stance and be incredible."
Leach added: "There was a vibe coming off that man. And the way he carried himself in interviews. Just like, whatever. I love that line from 'The Decline Of Western Civilization Part II' [movie], where [the interviewer was], like, 'Well, what do you think about the pretty rock and rollers?' He is, like, 'Ah, good luck to 'em. Wish I was.' That's it. And then they move on. And it's, like, he just stole the whole thing. Just cool. King of cool… And he would treat you the same way as he would treat somebody who's a rock star or royalty. That's what I loved about him. He was a man for the people."
Asked if he remembers the first MOTÖRHEAD album he got, Jesse said: "Obviously 'Ace Of The Spades' was the song that got me. So, to me, the self-titled one — 'Love Me Like a Reptile', 'Killed By Death'. I think that record, to this day, is the one that I would go to. How can you not? It's iconic."
He added: "I was kind of a late bloomer. 'Ace Of Spades', you heard it, but back then, if it wasn't on TV and you weren't going to the shows, the visual element wasn't really there for me. It's, like, I can remember [GUNS N' ROSES guitarist] Slash, for example, like the hat, and Lemmy had that same thing about him, even the warts. It was almost cartoon-like, but iconic."
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE released its latest album, "This Consequence", in February via Metal Blade. The LP arrived alongside a hugely successful winter/spring 2025 tour, yielded a Top 10 single with "I Believe" and landed the band on the covers of Revolver and Outburn.
This past summer, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE completed the massive "Summer Of Loud" tour, co-headlining alongside BEARTOOTH, I PREVAIL and PARKWAY DRIVE.
Fans got their first taste of "This Consequence" with pulverizing track "Forever Aligned", swiftly followed by "I Believe". More recently, the group shared videos for "Collusion" and "Aftermath".

STRYPER's New Single 'On This Holy Night' 'Describes How The World Has Taken 'Jesus' Out Of Christmas'Christian rockers STRYPER will release their long-awaited Christmas album, "The Greatest Gift Of All", on November 21 via Frontiers Music Srl. The 10-song effort will include five original Christmas tracks and five traditional Christmas cuts, including remakes of "Reason For The Season" and "Winter Wonderland", both of which originally appeared on a 1985 single and were also made available on the 1986 re-release of STRYPER's debut EP, "The Yellow And Black Attack".
Today, STRYPER has shared a new single, "On This Holy Night", taken from "The Greatest Gift Of All". The new track arrives alongside a lyric video, available to view below.
STRYPER comments on "This Holy Night": "We wanted to release a song that is dark and heavy yet describes how the world has taken 'Jesus' out of Christmas. What better way (or day) to release a song like this? Halloween! This song exemplifies everything that we are as a band, lyrically and musically."
On the new album, STRYPER guitarist/vocalist Michael Sweet previously commented: "We have wanted to record a Christmas album for many years. Ever since we released our first single ('Reason For The Season') back in 1985, the fans have been asking for a full-length Christmas album. Well, the time has finally come.
"We wanted to make an album of five traditional songs and five original songs. To put our own spin on our own Christmas album and not follow the pack, so to speak. We could not be more pleased with how it turned out! We obviously re-recorded 'Reason For The Season' and 'Winter Wonderland' and we decided to go with 'Winter Wonderland' as the next single just to give you an idea of what it might sound like today in 2025.
"We're happy to say that we finally have our own Christmas album and hopefully it will become a fan favorite year after year."
With "The Greatest Gift Of All", STRYPER answers decades of fan requests crafting a holiday record that blends festive classics, brand-new compositions, and their unmistakable mix of faith, power, and metal energy.
In a move that makes the release even more special, "The Greatest Gift Of All" will be available exclusively in physical formats. Fans can look forward to a collectible release that captures the spirit of the season in true old-school fashion.
"The Greatest Gift Of All" track listing:
01. The Greatest Gift Of All
02. Go Tell It On The Mountain
03. Heaven Came (On Christmas Day)
04. Little Drummer Boy
05. Still The Light
06. Silent Night
07. On This Holy Night
08. Joy To The World
09. Reason For The Season
10. Winter Wonderland
This past July, STRYPER released the first single from the upcoming Christmas LP, a song called "Still The Light". Just in time for Christmas in July, the track also arrived alongside an official lyric video, available below.
At the time of "Still The Light"'s release, Michael Sweet commented on the track: "STRYPER fans worldwide have wanted a Christmas record for 40+ years. Now we can say that we have finally made this a reality. With the first single, 'Still The Light' — let's celebrate Christmas in July and acknowledge that Jesus will always be The Reason For The Season!!"
In a recent interview with Jorge Pozo of LotsOfMuzik, Michael stated about the upcoming STRYPER Christmas album: "It is awesome. Oh my gosh. We're so excited about this one."
Asked which songs will be included on the record, Michael said: "We've got five traditional Christmas songs on it. We did a remake of 'Winter Wonderland' and then we did a version of 'Silent Night', a version of 'Little Drummer Boy', 'Go Tell It On The Mountain', which is not one that's been covered a lot, which is cool, and it is considered a Christmas hymn. And then also 'Joy To The World'. So we've got those five songs, and then we did a remake of 'Reason For The Season', made it sound more today. It's still the same arrangement, but obviously with new tones. It sounds bigger and thicker and heavier. And then we did four new original Christmas songs: 'The Greatest Gift Of All', 'On This Holy Night', 'Still The Light' and — what's the other one? I'm trying to think. It's slipping my mind right now. It'll come to me. Anyway, we're really, really, really pleased with how this one turned out, man. It's really cool. It's gonna be a great album."
Regarding which of the songs on the Christmas album he feels "most connected to", Sweet said: "Probably the new stuff. I love the traditional stuff and it was awesome and fun doing that, but I always feel a little more connected with new material 'cause it's a little more exciting and hasn't been done before. So it's new territory."
Asked what he meant when he wrote in a social media post that the STRYPER Christmas album has "a unique signature", Michael said: "Well, I mean it definitely has a very unique signature. We didn't really plan it this way, but it has this really great merge of classic — it's got that undeniable classic sound to it, STRYPER classic sound, but yet at the same time it's got that undeniable modern-era STRYPER sound too, because we're tuned down to D now. So the guitars are a little thicker and things sound a little bigger and heavier. So it's got the perfect merge in combination of classic and modern. Something else we did — for example, we did every single solo in harmony. So every solo, every note is in harmony, which is a first. We've never done that on any album. But the minute you hear those harmony guitar solos, that's a very STRYPER signature sound. So you get lots of that on this album. It's really cool, man. It's exciting, and I can't wait for people to hear it. We have a new song called 'On This Holy Night'. It's very heavy musically — dark. It sounds almost like [BLACK] SABBATH. And it's got this cool vibe to it and such a great message about how we worldwide really more often make Christmas about everything but Jesus. So that's the message, and it's a cool message. And then we've got an uptempo song called 'The Greatest Gift Of All'. It's almost kind of a little GREEN DAY-slash-BLINK-182 sounding, and it's just this power-pop metal, slightly punk vibe to it. It's really cool. So it's got some new flavors to it that I think people are gonna like and appreciate."
On the topic of whether there were any challenges balancing the STRYPER sound with the traditional sound of the songs on the Christmas record, Michael said: "No. Not at all. It just all came together so naturally. As you know, we did remakes, re-recordings of 'Winter Wonderland' and 'Reason For The Season'. So we tried to stay true to the original form. The only difference is they'll both be tuned down a half a step, and 'Winter Wonderland', we didn't do the joking around in the beginning. Because we felt like that was something that you shouldn't touch. That was with Tim [Gaines, original STRYPER bassist] and that was a spontaneous, fun thing. And we didn't wanna go down that road and try to mimic that; that could have been real corny. But other than that, it's the same arrangements. And the other traditional songs sound killer. 'The Little Drummer Boy' is powerful. It's a really good album, and we're excited. We've been talking about a Christmas album since 1985, believe it or not."
STRYPER guitarist Oz Fox recently sat out the band's Latin American tour on advice of his doctor. The 64-year-old musician, who underwent a brain surgery in May 2024, was once again temporarily replaced by Howie Simon (JEFF SCOTT SOTO, GRAHAM BONNET),who previously filled in for Fox on several tours in the past.
STRYPER's latest studio album, "When We Were Kings", came out in September 2024.
The band recently completed the U.S. leg of its 40th-anniversary tour, which was described as "a celebration of both classic hits and new-era fan favorites, including outfit changes and an exciting new show production."
In December 2023, Michael underwent partial thyroidectomy, the surgery to remove part of his thyroid gland. It is the most common surgery for thyroid cancer.
Formed 41 years ago, STRYPER's name comes from Isaiah 53:5, which states: "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
STRYPER's other albums include "To Hell With The Devil", "Second Coming", "No More Hell To Pay", "Fallen", "God Damn Evil", "Even The Devil Believes" and "The Final Battle".

Watch: SAMMY HAGAR And RIVAL SONS' JAY BUCHANAN Perform At Stage Red Fontana Youth Music Foundation's Inaugural GalaLast night was a night to remember as rock icons and hometown heroes Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer Sammy Hagar and Jay Buchanan, frontman of RIVAL SONS, took the stage together at the Stage Red Fontana Youth Music Foundation's inaugural gala presented by Earl Minnis Presents at Stage RED Theater at 8463 Sierra Ave. in Fontana, California.
The two powerhouses brought the crowd to its feet with a rousing set that included a heartfelt rendition of LYNYRD SKYNYRD's "Simple Man", a song both artists dedicated to their mothers. Hagar's emotional performance honored his late mother, while Buchanan's tribute was made extra special by his mom's presence in the audience. The night continued to rock with high-energy hits, including Hagar's VAN HALEN hit "Finish What Ya Started" and several fan favorites that showcased the enduring chemistry between the two frontmen.
Hagar, joined by his wife Kari Hagar, and Buchanan, joined by his wife, Caitlyn Buchanan, shared the stage in a celebration of music, community and mentorship. City of Fontana Mayor Acquanetta Warren welcomed guests and led the evening's program.
The unforgettable event commenced with a cocktail reception featuring creations made with Hagar's award-winning spirits, like the Santo Sunrise crafted with Santo Mezquila and the tropical Macadamia Piña-jito made with Sammy's Beach Bar Red Head and Platinum Rums.
Presented in partnership with the City of Fontana, the event marked the official launch of the Stage Red Fontana Youth Music Foundation, which aims to empower local youth by providing funding for instruments, resources and music education opportunities. The evening also honored Anthony Allmond, longtime music director at Kaiser High School, for his decades of leadership and impact on young musicians. The Kaiser High School Marching Band set the tone early, leading a spirited procession down Sierra Avenue to kick off the night.
In a moving announcement, the Grammy Museum Grants Program revealed it will send two local Fontana students to Grammy Camp, offering them an extraordinary opportunity to explore their musical passions at the next level.
The event was made possible thanks to the generous support of sponsors, including Earl Minnis Presents and Gibson Gives, which donated a stunning cardinal-red Les Paul guitar for auction, as well as the City of Fontana. Together, Hagar, Buchanan and their community proved that the spirit of rock and roll and the love of music education continue to thrive in Fontana.
Hagar commented: "Last night Stage Red Fontana was full of Fontana soul. Was great to have another homeboy Jay Buchanan there to help raise funds for young musicians from our hometown. To get them musical instruments in school and programs to give them a better chance to fulfill their dreams — I'm so happy and proud that Jay and I have the same goals in mind and came from the same cloth. That's a miracle in itself. Not only is he a great singer, he's a great human being. See you next year!"
Stage RED Theater, formerly known as Center Stage Theater, is a premier performance venue in Fontana, California. MÖTLEY CRÜE Shares Previously Unreleased Version Of 'Keep Your Eye On The Money' From Upcoming 'Theatre Of Pain' Box SetRock legends MÖTLEY CRÜE will release a special 40th-anniversary limited-edition deluxe box set of "Theatre Of Pain" on November 14 in North America and November 28 in the rest of world via BMG.
The official lyric video for a previously unreleased live version of "Keep Your Eye On The Money", which will appear on the 40th-anniversary limited-edition deluxe box set of "Theatre Of Pain", can be seen below. This version of the track was recorded at the Long Beach, California show of the "Theatre Of Pain" tour on November 27, 1985.
Released in June of 1985, "Theatre Of Pain" marked a bold new chapter for MÖTLEY CRÜE — stylistically daring, musically explosive, and unapologetically street glam.
Fueled by the swagger of "Smokin' In The Boys Room" and the anthemic pull of "Home Sweet Home", the CRÜE's third studio album broke new ground while staying true to their hard rock roots. This trailblazing album set the music and style template for many bands that followed, while the CRÜE themselves continued to evolve and reinvent their look and sound with each album.
"Theatre Of Pain" was MÖTLEY CRÜE's first LP to hit the U.S. Top 10, landing at No. 6, and became a global smash (No. 7 Australia, No. 7 Sweden, No. 5 Finland, No. 11 Canada, first U.K. Top 40 at No. 36). The album is now RIAA-certified four times platinum in the U.S. and three times platinum in Canada.
The album's lead single, MÖTLEY CRÜE's cover of "Smokin' In The Boys Room", became the band's first U.S. Top 20 hit, reaching No. 16. The iconic "Home Sweet Home" video was the most requested on MTV for over 90 days, leading to the infamous "Crüe Rule", limiting videos to 30 days. The song recently hit No. 1 again — this time at U.S. classic rock radio — thanks to MÖTLEY CRÜE's new version featuring global superstar Dolly Parton.
The 40th-anniversary deluxe box set for "Theatre Of Pain" is a must-have for fans and collectors, featuring reimagined artwork, the newly remastered album on color vinyl, a never-before-released 1985 Long Beach live concert (2LP),rare demo recordings (1LP),and a 76-page hardcover book packed with never-before-seen photos and memories from the "Theatre Of Pain" era. This definitive set captures the raw energy and spirit of a band at their peak — and is available only for a limited time.
"Theatre Of Pain" 40th-anniversary limited edition box set includes:
* 1LP remastered "Theatre Of Pain" original album on color vinyl
* 2LP never-before-released live album originally recorded for Westwood One radio broadcast on color vinyl
* 1LP rare demos album on color vinyl
* 76-page hardcover book featuring many never before published photos from "Theatre Of Pain" tour
In addition to the limited-edition deluxe box set, "Theatre Of Pain" 40th-anniversary edition will be available in standard audio, Dolby Atmos audio, as well as a variety of physical configurations including standard CD and LP sets alongside CD and LP exclusive variants at Walmart, an LP exclusive for independent retail, an LP exclusive for Amazon and an LP exclusive for Urban Outfitters. A limited-edition "Theatre Of Pain" 40th-anniversary cassette will also be available exclusively at the Crüeseum.
Fans can step inside the Crüeseum to experience the new "Theatre Of Pain" collection, showcasing unseen candid moments, tour-worn clothing, backstage itineraries, powerful live photography, and more from MÖTLEY's 1985 classic.
This past September, MÖTLEY CRÜE stormed back on to the Las Vegas Strip launching their new show, "The Las Vegas Residency 2025", at Dolby Live at Park MGM. Running through October 3, the residency marked the band's third Vegas takeover and its first in more than a decade.
As previously announced, MÖTLEY CRÜE donated a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales of "The Las Vegas Residency 2025" to Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (NPHY),a Las Vegas-based organization that provides the thousands of young people experiencing homelessness in Southern Nevada with wraparound support to help move into stable housing, grow and flourish.

CRO-MAGS' HARLEY FLANAGAN: 'I'm Making Some Of My Best Music' Right NowIn a new interview with George Miller of United Kingdom's Devolution Magazine, CRO-MAGS founder Harley Flanagan discussed the feature documentary "Harley Flanagan: Wired For Chaos", which charts his tumultuous life and survival. Asked if Flanagan's early life — which consisted of childhood neglect and sexual abuse as well as drugs, violence and PTSD — is what ultimately fueled the CRO-MAGS' hardcore sound, Harley said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I don't know, man, because my life is pretty fucking good now, I gotta say, and I'm making some of my best music. But I can't eradicate one from the other because I still had those experiences. So I may not be living that same exact struggle at this point in my life. Nonetheless, I still struggle with those exact same experiences. [Laughs] They still echo in my brain… as I try to move forward in life. Because, quite honestly, when you have PTSD, it's like sometimes being in a peaceful environment is almost more torture than being in the chaos because in the chaos you feel a certain sense of, 'This is my comfort zone. I'm in a state of fight or flight.' When there's no fight or flight, you find your mind racing to a place to create it. So sometimes calm can be more difficult than a war when you're raised in battle."
Flanagan also talked about his songwriting process, saying: "A lot of the stuff is actually written in the studio. Typically I'll go in with half the songs kind of formulated and the other half will just kind of happen, and then I'll just move a couple parts around, but that'll be the basis of the song. In fact, I find more often than not, those are the songs that come out the best because they're just burning; they're coming out right then and there. And then the good thing to do is to freestyle some vocals or whatever, and then come back to them and revisit them later with actual lyrics, and take it from there."
He added: "My process is still evolving. Who knows? Maybe that's why I haven't had any real success, because I haven't stuck to a formula long enough for people to sink their teeth into it. I don't know. But do you wanna be a successful artist or do you want to be a satisfied artist?"
Asked how he defines success, Harley said: "Success, for me, is… I appreciate the woman that I am married to every day, all day, all the time. And my kids are young adult men now and doing well, and I've survived through already things that would've broken a lot of people. So I feel super successful because I married someone that really complements everything in my life so perfectly, and my kids are growing up to be strong, well-rounded young men who are figuring things out. And that makes me proud of that. And fuck, man, if that ain't success, I don't know what is."
"Wired For Chaos" arrived in theaters this past June. A trailer for the film can be seen below.
Flanagan burst on to the punk music scene at the age of 11 in the late 1970s as drummer for his aunt's New York-based band THE STIMULATORS, later founding the seminal hardcore act CRO-MAGS. Flanagan tells his inconceivable story through gritty footage of NYC's downtown 1970s and '80s music scene as the backdrop, alongside stories from friends and peers like Flea, Ice-T, Henry Rollins, Michael Imperioli, members of BAD BRAINS, BEASTIE BOYS, CIRCLE JERKS, ANTHRAX and many others.
While Harley's journey as a musician is certainly explored, "Wired For Chaos" centers on the lasting effects of trauma and its integration into his present-day life. Harley Flanagan was a child prodigy musician, who raised himself in the very adult world of rock 'n' roll. He was born to a Warhol Factory "it" girl, enmeshed in the Lower East Side artist sub-culture of the late '70s and '80s, surrounded by copious amount of sex, drugs and violence (as victim and later perpetrator),simultaneously achieving punk rock legend status.
In addition to touring with his band CRO-MAGS all over the world, today Harley Flanagan is also a jiu-jitsu professor (under the tutelage of Master Renzo Gracie),devoted husband (having married a Park Avenue attorney),the father of two sons and a deeply introspective human. He confronts his past, hoping that it can bring him some peace, and pass what he's learned forward to others struggling. Though he has moved on from the violence of his youth, it is never far away as he works through his very pronounced PTSD. His primal instincts to survive remain sharp. The film is built around a vast archive of material, scenes with Harley and his friends, several intimate interviews with Harley and his wife, and abstract imagery and animation.
Harley's childhood with iconic artists (Andy Warhol, Debbie Harry, Joe Strummer, Alan Ginsburg) looks enviable on the surface, but ultimately his DNA is riddled with the trauma of abuse and sexual violence, laying the groundwork for an unstable adolescence and rocky young adulthood.
The career of filmmaker Rex Miller, who directed "Wired For Chaos", spans more than 25 years and has yielded two Peabody Awards, several Emmys and two Oscar shortlists. He recently directed (with Sam Pollard) the film "Citizen Ashe" (CNN Films),which won "Best Documentary" at both the 2022 Critics Choice and Grierson Awards and was nominated for a Sports Emmy for "Best Feature Documentary". 2

OVERKILL To Begin Recording New Album Before End Of 2025In a new interview with the Metal Mayhem ROC podcast, OVERKILL singer Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth was asked about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's follow-up to their latest album, "Scorched", which came out in April 2023 via Nuclear Blast. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We're demoed out. Jeramie Kling's playing drums for us now. [Former OVERKILL drummer] Jason Bittner moved on to other things… So we're just moving along as if there is no issue with D.D.," he added, referencing OVERKILL bassist D.D. Verni's recent shoulder surgery and ongoing recovery. "We're going to start recording before the first of the year. We'll get some stuff done, I'm sure just the drum tracks; we're working on those as of right now. I'm just filling in the blanks with what the other dudes have done. And it's kind of business as usual at this point. So, no big news to report as of this moment, but tomorrow you never know."
This past September, Verni told Jeff Gaudiosi of MisplacedStraws.com about OVERKILL's upcoming LP: "We are demoing stuff right now. We probably have maybe nine or 10 songs kind of scratched out that I gave to Blitz a little while ago. Usually the process is I'll demo everything up musically [and] then I'll give it to Blitz. He'll spend some time with it and kind of do his thing with them. Then we get everybody together, kind of that. So I gave it to Blitz maybe not too long ago."
As for a possible release date for the new OVERKILL album, Verni said: "I would think next year, for sure. Just when will it be — spring? Will it be fall? Somewhere in there. But [in] '26 [there] will definitely be a new OVERKILL record."
In August 2024, OVERKILL confirmed Kling as the group's new drummer. Kling joined the veteran New Jersey thrash metal outfit as the replacement for Bittner, who announced his exit from OVERKILL earlier that month.
A founding member of THE ABSENCE, Kling appeared on VENOM INC.'s second album, 2022's "There's Only Black", and has played with such acts as FORE, RIBSPREADER, GOREGÄNG and NECROMANCING THE STONE. He was also briefly affiliated with the reunited Florida death metal band MASSACRE, which led to the formation of INHUMAN CONDITION, alongside Terry Butler (OBITUARY, ex-DEATH) and Taylor Nordberg (DEICIDE). In addition to being a drummer, Kling is a recording engineer, producer and live sound engineer.
Bittner joined OVERKILL in 2017 and played drums on the band's last two studio albums, 2019's "The Wings Of War" and the aforementioned "Scorched".
Last November, Jason admitted to "Reckless" Rexx Ruger of Pod Scum that he "hadn't been happy" in OVERKILL "for, like, two fucking years. It wasn't a surprise that I quit. I'd been dissatisfied for a long time, but I'm a team player. I don't like to leave things. I love the guys personally. So I just kind of just hung in there, but I was not happy where I was career-wise, let's say, within the confines of that band. I wasn't a bandmember. And that's the main thing for me to keep doing this at this point in my lifetime." He added that he felt he wasn't "being paid fairly" for his time" but clarified that there was "no animosity" and called his decision to leave "just a business thing." He explained: "I can play five shows with SHADOWS FALL and make more money than playing 30 with OVERKILL."
In September 2024, Verni told Capital Chaos TV about Bittner's departure: "We kind of knew that that was coming. He had told us a while ago that he was just kind of burned out on too many things and had his hands in too many pots. So I think we kind of knew that was coming."
OVERKILL played its first concert with Kling on August 30, 2024 at the Posada Rock festival in Câmpulung Muscel, Romania. 2

BILLY IDOL Wanted 2025 Album 'Dream Into It' To Sound 'Fresh': 'It Couldn't Seem Like Regurgitated, Secondhand Ideas'During an October 9 appearance at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, veteran rocker Billy Idol discussed the inspiration behind the title of his latest album, "Dream Into It". "I bought [THE BEATLES single] 'She Loves You' when I was seven years old," Idol recalled. "I really loved what was going on in England — THE BEATLES and THE [ROLLING] STONES, it was so exciting. Then sort of dreaming about this music revolution that you're watching going on and just dreaming about being part of it, and then gradually over time, going from being a fan to sort of actually pushing the glass yourself… But there was a little bit of struggle. You had to struggle a bit to find those notes you're looking for, to find those words, to find how you feel. And that's what I did – I would dream into things, and that's why I called the album 'Dream Into It'... The first half of the album's kind of about my early life. and then the second half of the album's about today, really — about me today. We're still finding things to sing about. You're still finding the world exciting, and it's still an answer that music gives you somehow. It's given us a life that we sort of hoped we could have, being part of this music revolution, and it helped me to push the glass."
Idol's longtime wingman, guitarist Steve Stevens, said that the process of making an album in the present day wasn't that different from when he and Idol recorded the singer's 1982 self-titled debut full-length. "The thing we wanted to establish was [that] we were going to have the same drummer and bass player on the record, so it felt cohesive, like a band," Stevens said. "Josh Freese, one of the greatest drummers of all time, and Chris Chaney on bass — they're mates of ours, so we brought them in. Billy, we call [him] the 'punk police.' What he's really good at [is] if there's a bit of a guitar solo, he goes, 'Don't erase that first idea.' I'm always like, 'I can do it better. There's some real stinkers in there,' and you learn to love that initial flying-by-the-seat-of-your-pants thing. [With Billy,] you don't lose that initial thing, and if there's a couple of mistakes, with Pro Tools, you can go in and edit those couple of notes or change them. But really, we still try and get a performance. All of the vocal performances are from the beginning of the song until the end. It's not really any different than it ever was, the process of doing it."
Idol explained that the manner in which "Dream Into It" was recorded brought back memories of how he made the 1994 concept album "Cyberpunk". "Most of it was done in the producer's [house]," Idol said. "He's got, like, a little room attached to his house. I don't think it's even 100 percent soundproofed. Rather like I made the 'Cyberpunk' album in my house, this is what we were kind of doing with this album. It was not so different. We're using a lot of modern technology, but then we would go into a studio and run it through analog, so we could keep the warmth of analog. It's beautiful. We were kind of trying to get the best of all possible worlds, really, one way or another."
One thing that differed from past Idol recordings, however, was the age of their collaborators. "The album before, [2014's] 'Kings & Queens Of The Underground', everybody was older than us. [This time,] everybody was younger than us, or a similar age," Idol said. "We worked with Trevor Horn on 'Kings & Queens Of The Underground'. That was a great experience. He's a fantastic producer, but we just sort of felt like maybe this time, we'll work with someone younger than us and see what happens. Somebody, maybe, [who's] not quite so well-known — somebody that we can bring along with us. But at the same time, these guys have worked on a lot of modern music, and they're just as big in their own world as we are in ours, and sort of putting the two worlds together really worked. And I think we've got what we're looking for – we got fresh ideas and fresh feelings with the songs, so even if we are replicating some ideas, they seemed to come out fresh."
Idol further explained that "Dream Into It" "had to seem fresh. It couldn't seem like regurgitated, secondhand ideas. It had to hit you that it was fresh, that we couldn't just be repeating ourselves. Obviously, something like [first single] 'Still Dancing' does have echoes of 'Rebel Yell' — you're still going to get that – but I think it sounds fresh. It's like a fresh version. Most of the rest of the album, there's a lot of touchstone things about it that you can look back in our history. Even Steve's guitar playing, there's little bits and pieces of the first album. There's little bits and pieces of 'Kings & Queens Of The Underground'. There's all the Steves on the record, and all the Billys. We've got different personas we can bring into it after all this time of working with ourselves."
While "Dream Into It" was released just six months ago, Idol said he's already starting to ponder his and Stevens's next steps. "I've started a little bit thinking about where are we going to go next, but I haven't really 100 percent overthought that yet, because we're still sort of coming to grips with presenting the 'Dream Into It' album," he said. "But I just know when we do face that moment, I think it's going to be a lot of fun to see where we go, because this has been very exhilarating, and it's been a positive experience, and all that is going to end up playing into the next thing we do. It's just going to power the next thing. One day I'll pick up my guitar and I'll start singing, and I'll get a new feeling, and that'll be the beginning of the next record. That's what happens – suddenly, something about your voice connects to what you're doing and you get this [feeling] — 'Ooh, ooh. That's good.' And once you got that, you hold onto it and you work it, and then you get together with your mate and you work it small, and then eventually with a producer. It's really exciting. It's part of the dream — it's part of dreaming into it. Something will happen — something always happens in my life that will stir the thoughts. In the old days, we used to try and speed life up so that experiences happen so you have things to write about, but we've lived a long time now, so there's a lot to mine."
Idol's ninth album, "Dream Into It", was released via BMG on April 25. A two-part concept album about the singer's life, the record features Idol and Stevens backed by Josh Freese (NINE INCH NAILS, FOO FIGHTERS) on drums and Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION, AC/DC) on bass and includes guest vocal performances by Avril Lavigne, Joan Jett and Alison Mosshart (THE KILLS, THE DEAD WEATHER).
For 46 years, Idol has been one of the definitive faces and voices of rock and roll. Between 1977 and 1981, Idol released three albums with GENERATION X as their camera-ready frontman. In 1982, he embarked on a transatlantic/trans-genre solo career that integrated the bold and simple lines of punk and rock and roll decadence. Touring consistently around the world for the last ten years and showing no signs of slowing down, Idol released both "The Roadside" EP in 2021 and "The Cage" EP in 2022 on Dark Horse Records, earning praise from fans and critics alike, in the lead-up to the 2025 release of his critically acclaimed first new full-length LP in over a decade, "Dream Into It". In 2023 Idol cemented his name among Hollywood legends with a star on the Walk Of Fame, plus Idol received his first Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame nomination earlier this year.

SLASH On New GUNS N' ROSES Drummer ISAAC CARPENTER: 'From The First Day That He Came In To Audition, He's Just Been Amazing'During an October 23 appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk", GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash was asked what it has been like playing with the band's new drummer Isaac Carpenter, who replaced Frank Ferrer in March. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Isaac's killer. It's been great. From the first day that he came in to audition, he's just been amazing. And it was funny 'cause when he came in to audition, he was one of probably six or seven guys that we tried out — all known players whose names I will not mention — but it got to a point where we'd narrow it down to, 'Okay, we want four guys to come back', then three guys, then two guys, and Isaac was always there; he was always one of the guys. And the way that he plays and then also his sort of spirit and his whole attitude all together just… We sort of knew from the first day, but we kept going to make sure. So it's been great. And he's really given a lot of energy to the show."
Slash also talked about GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose's recent onstage meltdown. During the opening song of the band's concert last Saturday (October 18) at Estadio Huracán in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Rose appeared to lose his temper, violently throwing his microphone at the drum kit, tearing off his leather jacket and storming off stage. At a later point in the show, which was part of GUNS N' ROSES' South American tour, Rose walked up the drum riser and kicked the bass drum, telling the crowd: "So, I'll just try and wing this". At the time, it was unclear whether Rose's frustration was directed at the sound onstage or if he was dissatisfied by Carpenter's performance behind the kit. GUNS N' ROSES later issued a statement explaining that "Axl's in-ear monitor pack had only the percussion in his ears versus his entire mix" and that "the situation had nothing to do with Isaac Carpenter's playing, who is top notch and a great drummer."
Slash told "Trunk Nation": "Oh, that whole thing, God, it got so blown out of proportion. Well, we all are on in-ears. So for monitors, instead of wedges on the stage, we use in-ear monitors. And so there was something fucked up in Axl's mix where the only thing that he could hear was the drums. And that was it. And it was the first song. So he's trying to communicate that to the engineers and they don't know what the fuck he's talking about. And so it was one of those frantic moments trying to get it together at the beginning of the set. And that was it. And he was pointing out that it's the drums; it's not something else. Whatever your myriad of different things it possibly could be, it was the drums, and that's what he was trying to convey. But it got really blown out of proportion. Jesus. I guess people were thinking that it had something to do with Isaac because it was directed at the kit, but it wasn't about Isaac."
Prior to joining GUNS N' ROSES, Carpenter was a member of GN'R bassist Duff McKagan's LOADED. Isaac's career also spans an impressive roster of acts, including live and studio work with AWOLNATION, Adam Lambert, the hardcore metal outfit BARBARIANS OF CALIFORNIA, A PERFECT CIRCLE, THE EXIES, OURS and BLACK LAB, in addition to his large session film and TV roster. Carpenter made a name for himself by uniquely blending versatility and groove with crushing force and technical skill, cementing his reputation as a multifaceted drummer in the industry.
Earlier this year, McKagan spoke about Carpenter's role in GUNS N' ROSES, comparing him to the band's previous drummers Ferrer, Steven Adler and Matt Sorum. "Isaac has got this ability to swing and groove that only a few drummers have," Duff said. "Steven had it as well, Steven Adler, and Matt is a great, solid drummer with amazing fills — and Matt's amazing. They're both amazing drummers. And Isaac somehow blends both of those two guys and adds his own thing. So he adds a new sort of excitement to the songs. And the groove and swing of the songs right now with Isaac is super impressive and super fun."
Slash told "Trunk Nation" that GUNS N' ROSES will "definitely" tour the U.S. in 2026. "[An announcement will] be coming soon, so I can safely say that that's happening," he said. "So we've been doing a bunch of international stuff all year so we have to come back to the States, so we planned [that] for next year." 4

TYKETTO To Release New Album, 'Closer To The Sun', In March 2026Hard-rocking quintet TYKETTO will release its sixth studio album, "Closer To The Sun", in March 2026. The band, consisting of Danny Vaughn (vocals),Harry Scott Elliott (guitar),Ged Rylands (keyboards),Chris Childs (bass) and Johnny Dee (drums),will make the LP available via British rock specialist label Silver Lining Music, which is home to the likes of EUROPE, URIAH HEEP, SAXON, Michael Monroe, SOEN and DIAMOND HEAD, to name a few.
With founding member Vaughn at the helm, TYKETTO continues to create and craft the type of powerful, anthemic songs which saw the band burst through the hard rock landscape in 1987 and release its debut album, "Don't Come Easy", through Geffen Records in 1989. Since that landmark debut, TYKETTO has released a further four studio albums and toured internationally to a loyal and dedicated fan base.
"I was pleasantly shocked when Danny and the band put pen to paper," says Silver Lining owner Thomas Jensen. "We're talking about a really wonderful band in terms of sheer songwriting quality and live delivery, and if I'm honest, one which probably didn't get the credit it deserves. We're all glad to be part of a team determined to shift that needle!"
Vaughn adds: "Many years of hard work ground to a complete halt when COVID first hit us all, and it was really touch and go as to whether or not TYKETTO would continue. Since our return in 2023, the band has been on a steady upward trajectory, with more fans coming out to see and support us than ever before. This fantastic upward rise has now culminated in our signing a brand-new record deal with Silver Lining Music, who have already shown not only love and support for us, but also a real understanding for our personal relationship with our fans. The end result of all of this is an album that TYKETTO fans are going to absolutely fall in love with. For TYKETTO, these are the best of times!"
This past August, Vaughn told Euro Weekly News about "Closer To The Sun": "I'm buzzing about our new album — it's going to be a fan favorite. We just finished mastering it, and it drops in March. A tour is planned, along with some big festivals."
In late 2024, Vaughn told Myglobalmind about the TYKETTO songwriting process: "It's a team effort in that everybody is submitting music to me, and I'm just keeping it all in files. I get to decide what's TYKETTO and what isn't. I tend to want to be the guy that always does the lyrics and melody because I have to believe in what I'm singing. Harry has submitted some loose lyrical ideas, and I've thought, 'Oh, I can work with this.' It's not really a question of arrogance; it's just that I'm the vehicle that these songs have to get through, so I need to understand or believe in what I'm singing."

BILLY SHEEHAN Weighs In On DAVID LEE ROTH's Recent Live Performances: 'He's Still My Hero'During an October 28 appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk", legendary bassist Billy Sheehan, who was a member of David Lee Roth's backing band in the late 1980s, was asked for his opinion of the original VAN HALEN singer's recent live performances. Billy responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, he's still my hero. I still love him. He gave me my biggest break ever. I wouldn't be here without him, and I love him and I love what he did in VAN HALEN. So I'm just kind of staying off the subject."
Billy continued: "I know he's having a great time. God bless him. It's tough to see him out there. I know it's a struggle for the lead vocals, but I still love him and care about him and he's still one of my favorite singers and performers ever, of all time, best frontman ever. And like I said, as you get older, things aren't the same. You can't quite jump that high anymore, that's for sure. So, yeah, but I wish him the best. It's a little bit sad to see, but I know he's enjoying himself and having a good time, making a lot of people happy."
Back in December 2022, Sheehan reflected on his time as a member of Roth's backing band, telling the "Talk Louder" podcast: "[David] is a phenomenon of nature and he's still my hero and I'm still supremely and forever grateful for the break he gave me. And we had a ride together; we had a wonderful time. He's a jokester and a comedian… I learned so much from him, it's unbelievable. It was like getting a PhD in Show Biz 101; he knew it inside and out. And he is on. If he's not on, he's probably not there. If he's not around, he's probably not on. But if he's around, he's on. He's never not on."
Sheehan went on to say that Roth is "very smart." He added: "I just finished [VAN HALEN producer] Ted Templeman's book, and Ted really praised his lyrics. I don't think VAN HALEN would have been VAN HALEN without those lyrics, 'cause they weren't your typical 'baby, I love you' lyrics… And the stuff he did on [Roth's debut solo album] 'Eat 'Em And Smile' was quite fantastic. I think if we would have kept that 'Eat 'Em And Smile' vibe and style, the band would have really done incredibly well. Unfortunately, he made a left turn and did [1988's] 'Skyscraper'. It takes a lot of courage to make that kind of a turn. I give him credit for the courage. I didn't like the results of it myself personally. Like [David] Bowie, with 'Ziggy Stardust' suddenly came out with the 1984 record, when he broke up his original band and then went off and just went into the dance kind of thing, it took a lot of guts. So I think Dave kind of did that same thing with 'Skyscraper'. Unfortunately, it was not as successful as it could have been."
In the summer of 2022, Sheehan told We Go To 11 that he had the only existing professionally filmed video of a concert performance by Roth and the band for "Eat 'Em And Smile". "I've got it," Billy said. "I have it. I think I'm the only guy with it. They shot it pro. It's Dave's tour and Dave's business, so I can't do anything with it, unfortunately. At some point, maybe I'll try and get in touch with Dave, 'Do you wanna put this out?' But I had a pro-shot [video]… I forgot how I got it. As far as I know, nobody else has it. I just reviewed it the other day and backed it up again to another three drives to make sure I didn't lose it."
Sheehan continued: "I'm not sure if it could be out someday, if Dave would be interested in doing it, but I've got it; it's here for him. If he wants it, I'll be happy to put it on my Dropbox and send it over to him. But most of [the videos that are out there] are hand-held [clips], shaky with [muffled] audio. This one is — the audio is good; it's not great. But it's better than most of the hand-held camera things.
"Back then, a video camera, to sneak it into a venue [was very difficult], but somehow people did. It's pretty amazing. I mean, they were sneaking bottles of Jack Daniel's in, and a camera wasn't too far of a stretch during concerts in 1986 there.
"So, yeah, I do have a pro-shot [concert]," Billy repeated. "And for a while I couldn't find it, so I thought, 'Did I imagine that? Am I fooling myself here?' But sure enough, the other day, 'Uh-uh. There it is. I've got it.'"
"Eat 'Em And Smile" was the first of two Roth albums to feature the duo of Steve Vai and Sheehan on guitar and bass.
Billy said in a 2017 interview with Songfacts that he was "ready to go" if Roth ever decided to do some shows with the "Eat 'Em And Smile" band. "We have a great respect and love for Dave and what he did for us," he continued. "There's no secret undercurrent thing going on that I'm not talking about. The fact of the matter is it's Dave's call. If he chooses to do so, I couldn't be happier." 1
