BIOHAZARD's DANNY SCHULER: 'We Put All Our Energy And Effort Into The Show'In a new interview with the Talkin' Bout Rock podcast, drummer Danny Schuler of the reunited classic lineup of BIOHAZARD spoke about "Divided We Fall", the band's first studio album in over a decade, which will arrive on October 17 via BLKIIBLK. Regarding why it took so long to get the LP out, Danny said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): " Well, the album was a long time coming because the band wasn't really doing anything for a long time. The band got back together in 2023. We started doing some shows, we started touring, and everybody started talking about, 'Hey, why don't we do a record?', our managers and everybody. And that was it. It was just we started talking about it. We started getting together with the purpose of writing songs and seeing how that went. After a while, we kind of hit our stride and the songs just kind of came quick. And, yeah, boom — next thing you know, we're making a new BIOHAZARD album, 'Divided We Fall'. Here we are."
Danny also talked about the recording sessions for "Divided We Fall", which took place at Shorefire Recording Studios in Long Branch, New Jersey and The Hydeaway in Van Nuys, California, with engineering by Joseph DeMaio and additional recording from Matt Hyde. Guitar and production tech duties were handled by Phil Caivano.
"I live on the East Coast, so it was easier to kind of just do everything at Long Branch," Danny explained. "It's a great studio, Shorefire, and our friend Joe runs that place. We've worked there before. And the reason I love that place, aside from having all the great gear, is that it's like one big room and it gives a band like us — we like to record as live as possible — so it gives us the room to set up live in the room and record that way. So that's what we did."
Reflecting on the first reunion show from the reunited classic lineup of BIOHAZARD — Schuler, guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei, guitarist Bobby Hambel and bassist/vocalist Evan Seinfeld — which took place in May 2023 at the Milwaukee Metal Fest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Danny said: "Yeah, that was in 2023, so it was eight or nine years since we had played a show together, and it was even longer than that, that we had played a show with Evan. That was our first show back with Evan in a very long time — probably 12 years or something, or 13 years. And, yeah, it was just a trip. I was really looking forward to it, and when it happened, it's amazing how it kind of went right back into the way we used to do things. It was so natural and easy. The rehearsals for that show, it was so simple to just be with everybody and play all the songs; it was easy. And, yeah, getting back together and doing that one show, it was, like, 'Wow.' It just totally blew my mind. It was such a trip to do it again. And now we get to do it some more. It's great. I love it. I never take it for granted."
Elaborating on BIOHAZARD's mindset when it comes to performing live, Danny said: "We definitely are the type of band that puts all our energy and effort and everything into the show. We're not phoning it in. Some bands maybe do that. For us it takes all our energy and everything to do the show, and we put everything we've got into it. So it is an experience; it's not just a show, it's an experience. And the audience is a big part of what we do, for sure."
BIOHAZARD has released four singles from "Divided We Fall" so far: "Forsaken", "F**k the System", "Eyes On Six" and "Death Of Me".
In a separate interview with In Effect Hardcore, Danny stated about "Divided We Fall": "I think 'Divided We Fall' is BIOHAZARD doing what we do best. I didn't want to make a new-school record to compete with all these new bands… They all have their sound and I love it, but what we do is unique to us, and I really think when we are firing on all cylinders we can hang with anybody… especially live. So I would say this new record is right up there with the best stuff we've ever done. Can't wait for everyone to hear it."
Regarding the role of producer Matt Hyde during the making of "Divided We Fall", Danny said: "Matt Hyde was a big part of this record, for sure. When he came in, we had a lot of songs written but we hadn't yet started to focus on which ones would be the best ones for the new record. One of the first things Matt did was listen to everything and we asked him to pick which songs he thought would work best. His list of songs was exactly my list, which surprised me. I had no idea he was so familiar with what we do. It was great working with Matt Hyde… he's a madman in the studio."
As previously reported, BIOHAZARD will team up with the American hip-hop group ONYX for a North American tour this fall. 2

STRYPER's MICHAEL SWEET And Wife LISA Launch FAITH IN MUSIC FOUNDATIONSTRYPER frontman Michael Sweet and his wife Lisa have launched Faith In Music Foundation, a new non-profit "dedicated to empowering musicians and fostering the next generation of music industry professionals."
Back in 2013, Michael and Lisa started noticing a feeling they couldn't ignore, a sense that God was nudging them to do something more. Not just for themselves, but for others, especially musicians who were struggling to keep creating in a tough and ever-changing industry. Those early conversations, often over coffee or in between tour stops, slowly grew into what would become Faith In Music Foundation. At its core, they wanted to help artists chase their goals and reach a level of quality and excellence that can feel out of reach today.
The music world has never been easy. Whether it's a young artist saving up for a decent guitar or a seasoned musician trying to keep a tour going, finding support, financial or otherwise, is always a challenge. Michael knows this world inside and out. Back in the early 1980s, he helped start the pioneering Christian rock band STRYPER. Somehow, after all these years, the band is still recording, touring, and connecting with fans around the world. He has seen the highs and lows firsthand — the excitement, the burnout and the grind. That experience shapes everything he does at Faith In Music Foundation.
Lisa brings a different, but equally important, perspective. With a strong background in nonprofit leadership and business operations, she thrives behind the scenes, handling everything from fundraising and HR to event planning and logistics. Her practical, steady approach has been key to helping STRYPER navigate the changing music industry.
Together, Michael and Lisa make a balanced team, blending creative passion with clear strategy. They have helped STRYPER keep moving forward not just through perseverance, but by running things like a business, securing sponsorships, managing resources wisely, and always keeping the bigger picture in mind.
Faith In Music Foundation is their way of giving back and paying it forward. It reflects the journey they have been on together and their hope that, with the right support, more artists can keep creating music that truly matters.
Michael comments: "If you've known me and Lisa for any amount of time, you know music has never just been a career for us. It's been a calling. It's taken us places we never imagined, introduced us to people who changed our lives, and taught us lessons we couldn't have learned anywhere else. But we've also seen the other side: the struggle, the financial hardship, the loneliness, and the doors that stay closed no matter how much talent you have.
"Years ago, I watched a gifted young band play their hearts out to a room of ten people, not because they lacked passion, but because they didn't have the support. They slept in a van that night to save on hotel costs. That moment stuck with me. It reminded me how many musicians are doing everything right but still feel like they're fighting a losing battle.
"That's why we started Faith In Music Foundation. To give back and to lift up artists who feel like they're doing this alone. We've walked this road, we've felt the strain, and we believe no one with a calling to create music should be stopped by financial barriers.
"Through Faith In Music, we're offering two types of artist grants:
* Touring Support Grants to help with travel, lodging, and logistics
* Recording Support Grants to assist with studio time, producers, and mixing/mastering
"Whether you're gearing up for your first tour or finishing an album that's been on hold, we want to help you bring it to life.
"Applications are officially open today and close November 15. Apply now at FaithInMusic.com.
"Please follow @faithinmusicfoundation and help us spread the word. The more we receive, the more we can give to support struggling musicians.
"Music has the power to heal, to connect, to change lives. It changed ours, and now we get to help others carry that same light forward."
At Faith In Music Foundation, Michael and Lisa believe that every artist deserves the opportunity to make their mark on the world. Faith In Music Foundation is a faith-based nonprofit foundation dedicated to empowering musicians by breaking down the financial barriers that prevent them from pursuing their dreams. Whether they're recording their first album, hitting the road for a tour, or growing their skills with established professionals, Michael and Lisa are here to provide crucial support. Their mission is to build a vibrant, inclusive community that connects aspiring musicians with opportunities, offers support to established artists who want to continue enriching the world with their music, and aids industry workers in building experience and furthering their careers. Through love, kindness, and a shared passion for music, Michael and Lisa strive to create a space where everyone can thrive.

LIMP BIZKIT Bassist And Co-Founder SAM RIVERS Dead At 48LIMP BIZKIT bassist Sam Rivers has died at the age of 48.
On Saturday, October 18, the Fred Durst-fronted outfit shared a post on Instagram announcing that Rivers had passed away earlier in the day. No cause of death was revealed.
"Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat," the band wrote in the caption, alongside a photo of Rivers performing onstage.
"Sam Rivers wasn't just our bass player — he was pure magic. The pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound," the band continued. "From the first note we ever played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced. His talent was effortless, his presence unforgettable, his heart enormous.
"We shared so many moments — wild ones, quiet ones, beautiful ones — and every one of them meant more because Sam was there," LIMP BIZKIT continued. "He was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of human. A true legend of legends. And his spirit will live forever in every groove, every stage, every memory."
"We love you, Sam. We'll carry you with us, always. Rest easy, brother. Your music never ends," the post concluded, signed by Durst, drummer John Otto, guitarist Wes Borland and turntablist DJ Lethal.
In a comment underneath the post, Lethal asked the LIMP BIZKIT fans to respect Rivers's family's privacy.
"Give Sam his flowers and play Sam Rivers basslines all day!" the DJ wrote. "We are in shock. Rest in power my brother! You will live on through your music and the lives you helped save with your music, charity work and friendships. We are heartbroken. Enjoy every millisecond of life. It's not guaranteed."
A founding member of LIMP BIZKIT, Rivers left the band in 2015 for health reasons that he later revealed were liver ailments due to alcohol abuse.
"I got liver disease from excessive drinking … I had to leave LIMP BIZKIT in 2015 because I felt so horrible, and a few months after that I realized I had to change everything because I had really bad liver disease," Rivers revealed in Jon Wiederhorn's book "Raising Hell (Backstage Tales From The Lives Of Metal Legends)". "I quit drinking and did everything the doctors told me. I got treatment for the alcohol and got a liver transplant, which was a perfect match."
Rivers recalled doctors warning him that he would die without quitting alcohol. "It got so bad I had to go to UCLA Hospital, and the doctor said, 'If you don't stop, you're going to die. And right now, you're looking like you need a new liver.'"
Sam rejoined LIMP BIZKIT in 2018 and remained in the group until his death.
Rivers founded LIMP BIZKIT with Durst and Otto in Jacksonville, Florida in 1994.

NOTHING MORE Releases Cover Of NINE INCH NAILS' 'We're In This Together'As they gear up for a headline European tour that begins November 7 in Tampere, Finland, three-times-Grammy-nominated rock outfit NOTHING MORE has released its interpretation of "We're in This Together" by NINE INCH NAILS from the latter band's 1999 album "The Fragile". It's a song that has always held great meaning for the boundary-pushing alternative metal band — Jonny Hawkins (vocals),Mark Vollelunga (guitar),Daniel Oliver (bass) and Ben Anderson (drums) — and one they, in fact, started recording 11 years ago before being sidetracked by creating their own music.
Listen to the song, released by Better Noise Music, below.
"'We're in This Together' sounds like a love song colliding with a war cry," says Hawkins. "Alan Watts [the British-American writer and orator] once said that 'you are the universe experiencing itself' — and this song embodies that truth. It's us against the world, and this song is my inner monologue."
Vollelunga elaborates: "This song is from my favorite NINE INCH NAILS album, 'The Fragile', and by far one of my favorite NIN songs. It's such a beautiful cataclysm. Essentially, it's a love song, but as I dove deeper, my interpretation shifted to it being about my relationship to my personal demons and mental trauma. It's about making peace with those monsters and accepting who and what they are while realizing they will always be a part of me," he adds. "It took a long time to achieve that cathartic clarity in regard to the very real nature of that evil's presence. We actually started recording the song 11 years ago, and it's just been lying in wait until recently. I was upset we hadn't released it earlier, but I now believe its relevance and timing couldn't be more immaculate."
The standalone track "We're in This Together" follows NOTHING MORE's most recent single/video "Existential Dread", which marks the fifth release from their 2024 album, "Carnal". The LP has notably spawned four back-to-back No. 1 rock singles — "If It Doesn't Hurt", "Angel Song" (featuring David Draiman),"House On Sand" (featuring Eric Vanlerberghe),and "Freefall" (featuring Chris Daughtry) — on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay and Mediabase Active Rock charts and amassed 193.5 million global streams. With this chart distinction, the band joins a special group of artists, including METALLICA, LINKIN PARK, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, PAPA ROACH and FALLING IN REVERSE who've achieved the same honor.
A deluxe edition of "Carnal" was released this past March and is also available on CD and vinyl. Five bonus tracks on "Carnal (Deluxe)" include a new version of the bracing "Freefall", featuring six-times-platinum-certified rock artist Chris Daughtry, and a live version of "Angel Song". The latter track was recorded at the band's set at Aftershock festival 2024 where NOTHING MORE was joined onstage by guest vocalist David Draiman.
NOTHING MORE's upcoming headline European tour gets underway November 7 in Tampere, Finland, with support from CATCH YOUR BREATH, SOLENCE and ANKOR. Early next year, starting January 14, 2026 in Silver Spring, Maryland, the band will launch another round of headlining shows throughout the U.S. and Canada, with support by CATCH YOUR BREATH, ARCHERS and DOOBIE. Tickets and VIP meet-and-greet packages are on sale now on their official web site.

TYPE O NEGATIVE To Release Live Album: 'We're In The Mixing Process'Former TYPE O NEGATIVE guitarist Kenny Hickey has confirmed to Scott Penfold of Loaded Radio that a full-length concert recording from the long-defunct band is in the works for an official release. "We're actually working on a live album right now," he said. "Yeah, we're in the mixing process… So I'm excited about that. [We're] working on the artwork now."
TYPE O NEGATIVE effectively broke up after the passing of frontman Peter Steele in April 2010 from heart failure at the age of 48. Born Petrus T. Ratajczyk on January 4, 1962 in Brooklyn, New York, he stood 6' 7" (201 cm) tall, and had a low, bass-heavy voice, which was one of the most recognizable features in TYPE O NEGATIVE's music.
Before forming TYPE O NEGATIVE, Steele played for the metal group FALLOUT and the thrash band CARNIVORE.
Hickey told Loaded Radio that there has been talk about teaming up with the other surviving members of TYPE O NEGATIVE to stage a Steele tribute concert with various guest musicians. However, according to Hickey, former TYPE O NEGATIVE keyboardist Josh Silver, who is married to Kenny's wife's sister, is still unwilling to commit to a Peter Steele tribute project, having spent "a long time" working for New York City as a paramedic.
TYPE O NEGATIVE, known for its brooding soundscapes and cult status in the 1990s and early 2000s, has recently seen a cultural resurgence as new generations discover the band's genre-defining music.
TYPE O NEGATIVE was a New York–based goth metal band formed in 1990 by vocalist, bassist and songwriter Steele, alongside Hickey, Silver and drummer Sal Abruscato — later replaced by longtime drummer Johnny Kelly. Their 1991 debut, "Slow, Deep And Hard", introduced their brooding style, followed by the provocative "The Origin Of The Feces" (1992). TYPE O NEGATIVE achieved breakthrough success with "Bloody Kisses" (1993),which earned a cult following and featured the single "Black No. 1". The band continued to evolve with albums such as "October Rust" (1996),"World Coming Down" (1999),"Life Is Killing Me" (2003) and "Dead Again" (2007).
Revered for their distinctive blend of goth and metal, as well as Steele's deep, iconic vocals, TYPE O NEGATIVE left a lasting legacy in heavy music. The band concluded in 2010 following Steele's death, but their influence endures across the alternative and metal landscape. 3

PEARL JAM's MIKE MCCREADY Honors ACE FREHLEY: He 'Changed My Life'PEARL JAM's Mike McCready has paid tribute to original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, who died on Thursday (October 16) at the age of 74. The news of his passing came just hours after TMZ reported that Ace was hospitalized on life support after he suffered a brain bleed when he took a fall in his studio a couple of weeks ago.
Mike took to PEARL JAM's social media to write: "I heard about Ace Frehley's passing from Rick Friel who I played with in a band called SHADOW. Rick was also the first guy on the bus in 1977 with a KISS lunchbox to tell me about Ace…just changed my life. I got a guitar in 1978 to join Rick's band WARRIOR which turned into SHADOW. We covered [KISS's] 'C'mon And Love Me'.
"All my friends have spent untold hours talking about KISS and buying KISS stuff. Ace was a hero of mine and also I would consider a friend. I studied his solos endlessly over the years… Just listen to 'Alive', I used his solo from 'She' as a template.
"Ace jammed on 'Black Diamond' with PEARL JAM at Madison Square Garden…a dream come true for me.
"I would not have picked up a guitar without Ace and KISS's influence.
"RIP it out Ace, you changed my life. Thank you."
Frehley, whose real name was Paul Daniel Frehley, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Morristown, New Jersey.
TMZ reported earlier on Thursday that Frehley was on life support. He had to cancel his tour dates and his condition had not improved after suffering from a brain bleed from the fall.
Frehley's family confirmed his death, writing in a statement: "We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth.
"We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace's memory will continue to live on forever!"
Ace co-founded KISS with guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley, bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons and drummer Peter Criss in New York City in 1973. Frehley appeared on KISS's first nine albums, and returned for the band's 1998 reunion album, "Psycho Circus", only to leave again. He was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame with the rest of KISS's original lineup in 2014.
Frehley first left KISS in 1982. He rejoined in 1996 and parted ways with the band once again in 2002 after the conclusion of KISS's first "farewell tour." Since his departure, guitarist Tommy Thayer had assumed the role of the Spaceman.
Earlier this month, Frehley scrapped the remainder of his previously announced 2025 tour dates due to unspecified "medical issues".
The legendary rocker announced the cancelation two weeks after he pulled out of the Antelope Valley Fair in Lancaster, California after sustaining minor injuries in a fall at his home.
When Ace's Antelope Valley Fair cancelation was first announced, it was revealed that Frehley had had "a minor fall in his studio, resulting in a trip to the hospital." He was later advised by his doctor to refrain from travel in order to fully recover from his injuries.
At the time of his passing, Frehley was working on "Origins Vol. 3", the sequel to Ace's 2016 and 2020 collections of cover songs that inspired the former KISS guitarist.
Ace's latest solo collection of original material, "10,000 Volts", came out in February 2024 via MNRK Music Group (formerly eOne Music). It was the follow-up to "Spaceman", which was released in October 2018 via eOne.
Frehley has had a rocky relationship with Simmons and Stanley whom he blamed for exacerbating his abuse of drugs and alcohol because they allegedly minimized his contributions to KISS.
In 2019, Simmons told Guitar World that Frehley and Criss had exited KISS three times, in part because they "weren't carrying their load" and weren't dependable onstage. In response, Frehley called Simmons and Stanley "control freaks, untrustworthy and… too difficult to work with."
Ace said in a 2024 interview that he got sober in 2006 after "10 car accidents" and credited his daughter Monique with inspiring him to give up drinking in 2006.
"My daughter calls me up and goes, 'Dad, I'm not hearing good things about you.' I looked in the mirror and just said, 'Shit — she's right,'" he said. "That evening, I called my sponsor and he took me to an AA meeting, and I've been sober ever since."
Frehley married Jeanette Trerotola in 1978 before they legally separated seven years later but remained married. She survives him, along with their daughter Monique, brother Charles, sister Nancy Salvner, and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

W.A.S.P.'s BLACKIE LAWLESS On ACE FREHLEY's Death: 'My Heart Is So Heavy I Can Barely Find Words'W.A.S.P. leader Blackie Lawless has paid tribute to original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, who died on Thursday (October 16) at the age of 74. The news of his passing came just hours after TMZ reported that Ace was hospitalized on life support after he suffered a brain bleed when he took a fall in his studio a couple of weeks ago.
Blackie took to his band's social media to write: "Ace Passing - My friend and my Brother is gone. My heart is so heavy I can barely find words. He was one of only a few remaining links left to my childhood. I was still in my teens when we became friends. I then was privileged to watch from the beginning this 'new up and coming band' called KISS be born. When we became friends, to use his words, he was 'a nobody'. Those words would soon fade forever. I sat next to him and watched this little up and coming band become the biggest band in the world.
"The world now will no doubt write stories, accolades and memorials about a public figure they only knew from the afar. Back then we had no money so we collected Coke bottles to cash them in for deposits so we could buy 25 cent beers. It's those kind of little things make you tight. Our friendship changed my career and my life forever.
"I am too selfish and hurt to share anymore of the memories I hold so dear of our times together. He was my friend, a life and career mentor .....my big brother.
"I love you Pauly."

ALICE COOPER Pays Tribute To 'Good Friend' ACE FREHLEY: 'He Always Brought It Every Night'Legendary rocker Alice Cooper has paid tribute to original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, who died on Thursday (October 16) at the age of 74. The news of his passing came just hours after TMZ reported that Ace was hospitalized on life support after he suffered a brain bleed when he took a fall in his studio a couple of weeks ago.
Alice took to his social media to write: "The worst part of being in rock 'n' roll at this point is the fact that some of our fraternity have just reached that age where they've… they leave the planet. Some of the guys that started 30, 40, 50 years ago are starting to go, and of course Ace Frehley from KISS, one of the pioneers — one of the great guitar players out there.
"Ace was an absolute guitar hero to so many people. I did more tours with him than anybody else, as far as opening for us, for quite a long time so… we became quite good friends. And you know he always brought it every night… He did it every night. And… it's just hard to see somebody like that go. We know that right now that the KISS fans are certainly in mourning and certainly his family and certainly everybody that knew him. Ace was an ACE".

MATT SORUM Pays Tribute To ACE FREHLEY: He Was 'The Real Deal In Every Sense Of The Word'Former GUNS N' ROSES and VELVET REVOLVER drummer Matt Sorum has paid tribute to original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, who died on Thursday (October 16) at the age of 74. The news of his passing came just hours after TMZ reported that Ace was hospitalized on life support after he suffered a brain bleed when he took a fall in his studio a couple of weeks ago.
Matt took to his social media to share a couple of videos of him performing with Ace and he included the following message: "Sad news yesterday hearing of Ace Frehley passing. As KISS was my very first rock concert on May 31st 1975 on their 'Dressed To Kill' tour. I lucked out last minute and got 5th row seats for 5 dollars and 50 cents. My buddy and I had 11 bucks between us. As we ran to our seats with THE JAMES GANG opening we were excited beyond belief … the power of RNR was real. When KISS hit the stage the show was over the top with pyro and an hydraulic drum stage for Peter Criss. During solo from Ace the neck of his guitar shot fire and smoke. Looking back now he was the swagger of the band and brought that thing that makes a great band.
"After the original 4 split he forged on to record solo albums and touring the world. We crossed paths many times and he had that cool New York attitude of no filter. Was honored to play on his DVD 'Behind The Player' and he also joined me in my KINGS OF CHAOS lineup. So I had some travel time and backstage banter with him. The real deal in every sense of the word.
"Here's a couple of raw videos from that gig that I will cherish more than ever . Rock in Peace Space Ace".

Watch: GEOFF TATE Pays Tribute To ACE FREHLEY 'With A Song Inspired A Lot By His Former Band'Former QUEENSRŸCHE singer Geoff Tate has paid tribute to original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, who died on Thursday (October 16) at the age of 74. The news of his passing came just hours after TMZ reported that Ace was hospitalized on life support after he suffered a brain bleed when he took a fall in his studio a couple of weeks ago.
Prior to launching into the QUEENSRŸCHE classic "Queen Of The Reich" during his October 16 solo concert at the Patchogue Theatre in Patchogue, New York, Geoff told the audience: "I don't know if you've heard, Ace Frehley died today. Love that man. A native of the Bronx, not too far from here. [He] will go down in musical history. Ace Frehley of KISS has passed."
He added: "I'd like to pay a tribute with a song inspired a lot by his former band. Let's do one more for Ace."
In a 2011 interview with Legendary Rock Interviews, Geoff reflected on QUEENSRŸCHE's 1984 tour as the support act for KISS. He said: "I really enjoyed the KISS tour. That was a really interesting time, of course. It was [a tour in support of] our first full-length album. We toured with KISS, Ozzy [Osbourne], TWISTED SISTER, BON JOVI who were also just getting started. We had a great time out on that tour. We had fun and got along with all those bands, including KISS."
Geoff continued: "Really, it's always an interesting experience opening for other acts like that. In theory, they are not only sharing their stage but they're sharing their audience with you. Most bands that we have toured with have been very confident in their own show and their own abilities so they tend to be very generous. KISS gave us full lights and sound and that sort of thing. They were really great in that they gave us the full run of the entire stage, anything we wanted they gave to us. I think from the audience's point of view it went well. We were definitely different and throwing some curve balls at the audience but at least a large segment of them seemed to still appreciate what it is we do."
Frehley, whose real name was Paul Daniel Frehley, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Morristown, New Jersey.

OPETH's MIKAEL ÅKERFELDT Pays Tribute To ACE FREHLEY: He 'Was The Coolest Dude Out Of The Original Four' KISS MembersOPETH leader Mikael Åkerfeldt has paid tribute to original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, who died on Thursday (October 16) at the age of 74. The news of his passing came just hours after TMZ reported that Ace was hospitalized on life support after he suffered a brain bleed when he took a fall in his studio a couple of weeks ago.
Mikael took to his band's social media to write: "It is with great sadness and shock that we say goodbye and 'thank you' to Paul 'Ace' Frehley. A rocking beacon of light for guitar players worldwide. A massive influence for many, let alone for myself and Fredrik [Åkesson, OPETH guitarist].
"As far as I'm concerned Ace was the coolest dude out of the original four. He had some type of swagger that almost defined the term itself. A hard rocking Keith Richards of sorts, albeit in silver makeup and platform heels.
"KISS was very much an introduction to my 'school of rock'. All my childhood friends were fans of KISS, and many of them regarded Ace as the ultimate rock-star.
"Ace Frehley was awesome. Plain and simple. I think of him now, not only as the great 'left-to-right' swaying guitarist with the smoking Gibson Les Paul, but also as that jovial dude that contradicted/challenged the generic (and sometimes silly) rock-star mannerism of 'bosses', Gene and Paul. The 'spaceman' was human, after all.
"If you haven't seen Ace Frehley go off on a joking/laughing rant during the KISS interview with Tom Snyder in 1979, I strongly advise for you to do so. His laugh was equally contagious to that of Elvis Presley's classic and heart-warming live rendition of 'Are You Lonesome Tonight' from 1969. Priceless!
"It's likely there will be a sit down with my KISS collection tonight. With that said, I do that all the time anyways. Regardless of any tragic events like the one we find ourselves in at present.
"Ace Frehley will be missed by millions. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and fans.
"Lots of love, from OPETH."

CROWBAR's KIRK WINDSTEIN Says Tearful Goodbye To His 'Favorite' KISS Member ACE FREHLEY: 'The Reason I Play Guitar'CROWBAR frontman and DOWN guitarist Kirk Windstein has paid tribute to original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, who died on Thursday (October 16) at the age of 74. The news of his passing came just hours after TMZ reported that Ace was hospitalized on life support after he suffered a brain bleed when he took a fall in his studio a couple of weeks ago.
Kirk took to his social media to share a video message in which he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Hey, y'all, Kirk Windstein here on a very somber evening. [Ace was the] biggest influence I ever had in my life and the whole reason I play guitar. So I gotta thank him from the bottom of my heart. Honestly, without Ace Frehley, I would've never picked up a guitar myself, [and neither would have] Dimebag [Darrell Abbott, late PANTERA guitarist] and many, many millions upon millions of other people in my age group, and even a lot of younger kids as well. So, thanks, Ace, for all everything you did for us."
Kirk continued: "It's very hard to — I mean, it's easy to comprehend that he passed away. It's just he has been a huge part of my life for the last 49 years. I have KISS stuff all over my house. I've always had KISS stuff. I have a KISS wallet. To this day, I have a KISS wallet. [Laughs] I have KISS, KISS, KISS everywhere. And he's always been my favorite member. It was easy to be drawn to [KISS bassist/vocalist] Gene [Simmons] when I was young because of the spitting blood and breathing fire and all. But when I heard 'Kiss Alive!', one of my favorite albums of all time, when I heard that, I was sold."
His voice cracking with emotion as his eyes filled with tears, Windstein added: "So, just rest in peace, Ace, and thank you for inspiring me to pick up the guitar. I wouldn't be able to do it without you. Thanks."
Kirk also wrote in a caption accompanying the video: " R.I.P. Ace Frehley. The reason I play guitar. I hope people realize how important he was to Rock and Roll. A one of a kind character and definitely, a one of a kind guitar player. I can hum every Ace solo ever. That’s how catchy his solos are!!! Thanks Ace for making me play guitar and helping me believe in myself enough to pursue a career in music. God Bless".
Back in 2020, Windstein named "Alive!" as one of the five heavy albums that changed his life. He told Decibel magazine at the time: "When I was a kid, about 10 or 11 years old, a friend of mine from school lent me his KISS 'Alive!' record. I had seen photos in magazines but I had never heard them. Needless to say, I was totally blown away by the look of the band, but when the needle hit the vinyl and the opening chords of 'Deuce' came screaming out of my speakers, my life was changed forever. When I first heard Ace Frehley's solo during 'Deuce', I had never heard a guitar sound like that ever before. I played the entire four sides of the album in one listening. I immediately asked my parents to get this record for me and I played it so much that I wore it out. I actually went through a few copies of it."
He added: "KISS 'Alive!' is the single record that I have heard the most in my lifetime. To this day, I am never sick of it. I drive my wife crazy from watching live footage from this album on YouTube. I believe Ace inspired me more than any other guitar player. I dressed up like him using paper plates with the holes cut out to copy his 1975 uniform and would perform with a tennis racket as a guitar for my parents. This is the single most important album of my lifetime."

ACE FREHLEY: 'I'm Going To Be Remembered As A Straight Shooter And A Guy Who Stayed True To His Craft'KISS legend Ace Frehley recently sat down with journalist and author Chaunce Hayden and told Hayden how he wished to be remembered. Ace said: " I believe I'm going to be remembered as a straight shooter and a guy who stayed true to his craft and was respected by his peers. I brought happiness to a lot of people. I was always the funny guy in KISS. That's how I would like to be remembered. The other thing that makes me proud is that a lot of kid come up to me and say they have been in recovery for six months or so and that it's all because of me. They say if I can do it, they can do it to. That makes me feel good."
Chaunce's full interview with Ace will appear in Hayden's third book of interviews, "Music: 30 Years Of Interviews", due out in January 2026.
In an interview with The Aquarian earlier this year, Frehley said of his legacy: "I think it's going to live on for hundreds of years. I do what I do very well, and I have the respect of my peers."
Ace died on Thursday (October 16) at the age of 74. The news of his passing came just hours after TMZ reported that Frehley was hospitalized on life support after he suffered a brain bleed when he took a fall in his studio a couple of weeks ago.
In a February 2024 interview with The Rock Experience With Mike Brunn, Ace was asked if he thought it was necessary for him to leave KISS in order to achieve the sobriety that he had maintained for nearly decades. Ace responded: "It's a lot easier being sober away from those guys. They know how to push my buttons, and we don't always see eye to eye on everything. But once Peter left the band, Paul and Gene always overrode my point of view."
He continued: "When Peter was in the band, it was a democratic group. And I didn't even realize it, but when Peter left, I realized I had lost all my power in the band because pretty much Paul and Gene are workaholics and like to do things their way. So, if I don't like the way something is happening, I get outvoted. I was dead set against 'The Elder' [KISS's controversial 1981 LP 'Music From 'The Elder']; I didn't think it was the right album for the right time. It's not a bad record; I don't think our fans were expecting a record like that. And I kept telling him during the recording process, I said, 'I think it's a big mistake.' And, of course, it bombed. Because I'm the kind of guy that has this feeling of — I'm a street kid, and I have a sense of what kids wanna hear. And that's why I think this new album is gonna be successful."
In January 2024, Ace spoke to Rock Candy magazine about why he never made it on stage one last time with KISS for their final show at Madison Square Garden in December 2023 after last leaving the band back in 2002.
"Fans would constantly reach out to me and say, 'Ace, please come back to the band,'" Frehley explained. "So the fans were and are my primary motivators, and I want them to know that I did try, but I couldn't make it happen. They never asked me."
Frehley dismissed the idea that his well-documented troubles with drugs and alcohol could ever have been a reason for Simmons and Stanley not reaching out to him.
"I'm sober, and all my friends and associates will tell you as much," he stated categorically. "I got to the point in life where drugs and alcohol had taken me over, and I'm just so happy to be away from all that."
Despite the much-reported rifts with Simmons and Stanley over many years, nevertheless Frehley insisted that he still had affection for both of them.
"I want people to know that I do love Paul and Gene," he said. "I wish things would have been different, but it wasn't to be…" Nor did Frehley hold any animosity towards his replacement Tommy Thayer.
"He's a good guy and deserves a break," Ace said. "He's not me, but he was never going to be me. In a lot of ways, his task was impossible."
In November 2023, prior to KISS's final concert, Frehley told Mark Strigl of SiriusXM's Ozzy's Boneyard that he didn't hold a grudge against KISS, despite all the badmouthing that had gone on between him and some of the other original KISS members in recent years.
"I wish KISS the best, all the best on their final shows for the 'End Of The Road' tour," he said. "There's really no hard feelings. We say things sometimes in the heat of passion or sometimes our memory isn't… [we don't] recall things. But I love those guys. We're all getting old, our memory isn't what it used to be, so I just let it roll off my back."
Despite everything that had been said between all the parties, Ace claimed in a 2023 interview with SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that he still looked back fondly on his time with KISS and he didn't hate his former bandmates.
"Look, the bottom line is this: deep down in my heart, I love those guys, because we created something so special that it will be remembered for years," he said. "When we're all dead and buried, there will still be people listening to KISS music. And I'm overjoyed. But I want my legacy to be cleared of any of this bullshit and lies."

EVA UNDER FIRE Releases First New Music In Two Years, 'Awakening'After amassing tens of millions of streams, shaking the charts, touring with bands like FROM ASHES TO NEW, ASKING ALEXANDRIA and SKILLET, and performing with 30 SECONDS TO MARS, all the while earning critical acclaim from Loudwire and New Noise Magazine, EVA UNDER FIRE return with the riveting and demon-conquering "Awakening". Out today (October 17),it's the first taste of new music in two years from the Detroit, Michigan quintet, signaling perhaps that this could be the start of a new album campaign.
"Awakening" is a blistering and inspirational anthem from Amanda Lyberg (vocals),Rob Lyberg (lead guitar),Chris Slapnik (rhythm guitar),Ed Gawlik (bass),and Dave Miller II (drums).
"The guys and I are stoked about the upcoming album," proclaims Amanda, whose gutsy vocals spectacularly cut through the raging guitars. "These songs are everything we wanted to write. We made sure it was the most honest version of our story.
"'Awakening' is an anthem about conquering personal demons. The rest of the album is what it took to get there. It's also a story packaged in the heaviest riffs we've ever played so I think listeners will be pleasantly surprised. Cheers to the new era!"
EVA UNDER FIRE is committed to delivering music that confronts fears, anxieties, traumas, and the past head-on. The band amplifies this kind of open-hearted honesty through tightly crafted and transformational hard rock anthems. They've tirelessly grinded out of the Midwest and built a faithful following by delivering raw and relatable truth without filter.
"We've slept in Walmart parking lots, and we still tour in a van," says Amanda Lyberg. "The first album cycle was a reflection of what we like to call our 'Detroit Grit.' It allows us to find a way against a lot of odds. You have to really work to make it out of here."
For "Awakening" and all their new music, Amanda drew on her career as a licensed therapist to foster an open dialogue among the band members, empowering everyone to be heard during the recording. Her work in therapy started in 2018 when she graduated with a Master of Arts in Psychology degree and went on to work at a mental health clinic in Detroit, Transcendence Behavioral Health (owned by Dr. Stephanie Williams). That same year, her father passed away due to a fentanyl overdose. Her mother survived the same batch that killed her father, and she's been sober for the past six years. In addition to her thriving and busy music career, Amanda is currently a practicing psychotherapist specializing in trauma work, grief and loss, and addiction recovery.
Her story turned into a 2023 short film, "My Rockstar", which used EVA UNDER FIRE music throughout, and has won over 20 awards in several film fests including Orlando Film Fest, Wild Rivers Film Festival, Toronto WILDfilm Festival, and many others.
Lauded as one of SiriusXM's 2023 "Ones To Watch," EVA UNDER FIRE released their critically acclaimed debut album, "Love, Drugs & Misery" via Better Noise Music in 2022. Its deluxe version includes the Top 20 Active Rock radio-charting single "Unstoppable" featuring country/rock artist Cory Marks. They've toured across the globe with acts including BUSH, BAD WOLVES, POP EVIL, SKILLET and FINGER ELEVEN, while also appearing at some of rock's biggest festivals, including Aftershock, Inkcarceration and Rock Fest.
EVA UNDER FIRE substantially expanded their fanbase following their featured appearance in the horror-thriller "The Retaliators" (Better Noise Films) and the inclusion of their single "Blow" (featuring Spencer Charnas of ICE NINE KILLS) on the film's soundtrack. Their single "Heroin(e)" was also featured on the soundtrack for the 2020 film "Sno Babies" (Better Noise Films),which has over 65 million global total streams. "Heroin(e)" has a combined total of over six million global streams, while "Blow" (has over 41 million global total streams.

SALIVA Teams Up With Ex-HINDER Frontman AUSTIN JOHN WINKLER On New Single 'Too Broke To Fix'After wrapping up a string of dates with EARSHOT, THE FOUNDER featuring Austin John Winkler (ex-HINDER) and LYLVC, SALIVA has joined forces with Austin John Winkler once again on the release of a new single, "Too Broke To Fix", via Judge & Jury Records, available across all digital streaming platforms today.
SALIVA vocalist Bobby Amaru shares: "The song dives into mental health, identity, and the feeling of living on the edge of control. It's about masking pain, feeling lost, and trying to find meaning in the chaos. Having Austin on this track was a blast. I've always been a fan of his voice, and getting him involved just made total sense. He brings so much raw energy and emotion to the song. He's got something to say, and I'm here for it."
Austin Winkler adds: "'Too Broke To Fix' was a song I knew I'd be into right away, just based on the title alone. I've felt that way many times in my life. When Bobby sent it to me and I listened to the opening guitar riff, I was in 100%! It was amazing collaborating on it with him and I think our voices really capture the rawness of the message in the song and we delivered a fire track for the world to get down to! I can't wait to play it live!"
SALIVA's career launched in 2001 with the release of "Every Six Seconds", a certified double platinum-selling album, containing the hits "Click Click Boom" and 2002 Grammy-nominated "Your Disease". SALIVA's in-your-face, anthemic writing style continued with a certified gold-selling album "Back In To Your System" that contained top singles "Always", "Raise Up" and the Nikki Sixx co-written "Rest In Pieces". Despite original vocalist Josey Scott leaving the band in 2011, the addition of Amaru brought a contemporary feel to the band, all while staying true to the band's blue collar roots. Amaru has been the SALIVA frontman for the past decade plus and was featured on the most recent releases "Rise Up", "Love, Lies & Therapy", "10 Lives", "Every Twenty Years" EP and "Revelation".
Shortly before the release of the most recent album, SALIVA guitarist Wayne Swinny passed away unexpectedly. The "Come Back Stronger" video was notably filmed just days before Swinny's death, and was dedicated to the fallen guitarist . The album went on to be highly acclaimed by critics and the singles "Crows" and "High On Me" charted Top 20 on Billboard's Active Rock chart. The band continues to honor "Uncle Wayne" at every show.
To celebrate the release of "Revelation: Retold" earlier in this year, the new deluxe album from SALIVA, the band released a music video for "Horizon" featuring Kevin Martin of CANDLEBOX, honoring their musical legacy with never-before-seen clips of Swinny on stage and in the studio. The new deluxe record is available on Judge & Jury Records, a powerhouse record label and production company founded by multi-platinum producer Howard Benson (MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, SEETHER, SKILLET, OF MICE & MEN) and Neil Sanderson of THREE DAYS GRACE.
