FOREIGNER Plays First Concert With New Guitarist LUIS MALDONADO (Video)FOREIGNER played its first show with guitarist Luis Maldonado last night (Wednesday, May 19) at the Frontyard Festival in Orlando, Florida. Maldonado joined the band as the replacement for longtime multi-instrumentalist Thom Gimbel, who announced his departure from the legendary rock act a day earlier.
Frontyard Festival is taking place in a three-acre area in front of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Orlando. Seating comes in the form of hundreds of individual, elevated pods situated six feet apart.
"Everybody was excited," FOREIGNER bassist Jeff Pilson told Ultimate Classic Rock about last night's gig. "You know, the audience were all in those pods, because it's set up for outdoor social distancing. So it was a little more sedate of a reaction than usual."
Pilson called Maldonado a "phenomenal" guitar player who "really gets to play rock guitar like he loves. His enthusiasm is palpable [and] he's also an amazing singer," he said.
Gimbel was known as FOREIGNER's jack-of-all-trades guitarist, saxophonist, flutist and keyboardist. He initially joined the group in 1992 but left to tour with AEROSMITH before returning to FOREIGNER in 1995.
FOREIGNER's last album, "Can't Slow Down", was the only full-length collection of new songs to have been released by the band since Kelly Hansen took over vocals after original singer Lou Gramm left the band for good in 2002. The album entered the Billboard Top 30, driven by the radio singles "In Pieces" and "When It Comes To Love". The band also has released a series of live albums and compilations, including 2016's "In Concert: Unplugged" and 2017's "40".
FOREIGNER's current lineup is rounded out by founding guitarist Mick Jones, Michael Bluestein (keyboards), Chris Frazier (drums) and Bruce Watson (guitar).
Pilson — one-fourth of the classic DOKKEN lineup — joined FOREIGNER in 2004.

Hear SLASH's Previously Unreleased Collaboration With CHESTER BENNINGTONA one-minute snippet of a never-before-heard collaboration between GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash and late LINKIN PARK singer Chester Bennington can be streamed below. The track, called "Crazy", was intended for Slash's first solo album, although he ended up recording it for the LP under the title "Captain Alibi" with late MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy Kilmister on vocals.
The "Crazy" snippet was made available by music producer Big Chris Flores, who worked on Slash's aforementioned album more than a decade ago. Around 2019, Flores went back to the studio and reprogrammed the drums as well as played the bass on the track, which will reportedly be released in the not-too-distant future to benefit 320 Changes Direction, the mental health awareness organization launched by Chester's widow Talinda Bennington.
During an appearance on the GUNS N' ROSES-centric podcast "Appetite For Distortion", Flores stated about working with Bennington: "We sent him the demo and set up a session. Chester came in for literally probably a few hours, recorded it and was, like, 'Hey, can I hang out for a little bit?' and that was the last of it. It was one or two takes when he got here. There was nothing really to it."
As for why the recording never ended up seeing the light of day, Flores explained: "I think part of the reason it got shelved for so long was out of respect, just waiting for LINKIN PARK to release whatever they were going to release with Chester and then give Talinda and his mom time to figure out if they wanted to do anything with it. Slash hadn't heard anything from them and it just was forgotten about I feel like, so it was just perfect timing [to release a snippet]."
Slash discussed his Bennington collaboration in a 2018 interview with Variety. He recalled: "When I was doing my first solo record, I worked with a lot of different people, some of whom, for whatever reason, didn't end up on the record. One was with Chester. We did a song and LINKIN PARK at the time didn't allow it to happen, so I did it with Lemmy. The guy who engineered my demos sent it to me and I sent it to Chester's family."
The guitarist added that the song could be released at some point, saying: "His family has got it, so it would be totally up to them. It was really good. He was awesome. It would be fine with me if they wanted to [release] it. Musically, it's basically the same as the Lemmy song, but the lyrics are really poignant."
The self-titled 2010 project featured a different guest vocalist on each track, including Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie, Chris Cornell, Kid Rock, Myles Kennedy, Iggy Pop, M. Shadows and others. Slash told The Pulse Of Radio at the time how he went about getting all those singers involved: "I compiled, you know, a bunch of songs with a definite idea as to who would sound good on what. Then I had to make a presentable demo, call up the artist and go, 'I've got this song, I'm doing this record with all these different singers on it, and I would love for you to be on it and I have a song I think you would like,' and then send it to them. And then I got positive feedback all the way along the line there."
Slash released his fourth solo album and third with his band THE CONSPIRATORS, titled "Living The Dream", in September 2018. 2

SATYRICON Is 'Midway Through' Making Of New Album, Says SATYRSATYRICON frontman Sigurd "Satyr" Wongraven spoke to Finland's Kaaos TV about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the follow-up to 2017's "Deep Calleth Upon Deep" album. Asked if the Norwegian "folk" music influence will find its way on to the record, he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Yeah, there are some guitar things that clearly [have] the typical SATYRICON incorporation of that type of tonality. But perhaps the most important part is my peculiar rhythmical patterns which some of my colleagues find to be troubling because they are inconsiderate of the rules of rock music and any other kind of structure and more based around the freedom that I feel is in Norwegian folk music. So that some of the parts that I write, you can't really anticipate where the chord progression is going to end because I don't necessarily follow established rhythmical patterns for how music is done. I let the idea and the melody line lead the way."
Asked if most of the new SATYRICON album has already been completed, Satyr said: "It is midway through, I would say. It's difficult when you work on these type of projects because, at least in my case, I end up writing a lot more than I actually use. I probably end up writing three times more than I end up using. And also I know that when you are in the first stage of such a process, you very often find that what you do in the very beginning that you believe firmly in and that you are absolutely confident that this will be a very important part of the record ends up not being used at all. And then some part which you are not sure about and you probably think that you will not end up using becomes a very important part of the record because, all of a sudden, coincidentally, you will come up with some idea that will bring this idea to a whole new level that you were never before able to imagine, and then something that seemed to be a likely candidate to be dropped becomes an integral part of the record. And then maybe something else which you thought would be one of the most significant musical pieces on your record doesn't fit in anywhere and then you just end up skipping the whole thing and not including it at all. We haven't gotten that far in the process, but I know from experience that that will happen sooner or later, and then we will see if that will take up a lot of our time or if bits and pieces will fall into their places without too much hassle and resistance."
He continued: "The unusual part here is that I'm not really working the way that I'm used to working, because I'm used to writing at home or in the rehearsal studio or in remote locations like cabins up in the mountains and things like that. But this is the type of record where I realized that although I can make some ideas under the circumstances I normally would, I find that this is a record that is better to write primarily in the studio for the reason that I'm working on a lot of things which you can't really prepare in the way you would prepare drums, bass, guitar and vocals."
Earlier in the month, SATYRICON drummer Kjetil-Vidar "Frost" Haraldstad told the "Heavy Demons" radio show about the band's upcoming album: "We will continue to be unpredictable and creative and innovative, I hope. That flame has never died in us; it's still burning. We're moving ahead, and we're still evolving."
"Deep Calleth Upon Deep" was released in September 2017 via Napalm Records. The disc was recorded in Oslo, Norway and Vancouver, Canada, during early 2017 and mixed together with revered studio guru Mike Fraser (who previously worked on SATYRICON's 2006 album, "Now, Diabolical").
SATYRICON's first two albums, 1993's "Dark Medieval Times" and 1994's "The Shadowthrone", will be released as remixed and remastered reissues with altered cover artworks, on May 28 via Napalm Records. 5

PHIL SOUSSAN Sets Record Straight: 'I Never Sued' OZZY OSBOURNEBassist Phil Soussan, who played on Ozzy Osbourne's "The Ultimate Sin" album and was credited with co-writing one of Ozzy's biggest hits, "Shot In The Dark", discussed his decision to leave Osbourne's band during a recent appearance on "The Five Count" radio show. Asked about the "weirdness" that went on between him and Ozzy's camp following his exit from the group, Phil said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Let me clear this up once and for all. There wasn't that much weirdness that was going on. I think what happened was I was in a position where I was not able to cut the deal that I wanted. I wanted to do certain things; I wanted to cut a certain type of deal. And kudos to Sharon [Ozzy's wife and manager]. Listen, she basically presented this to us in a very simple way. We were there, and we were being hired to do our best work — the best work that we could possibly do to make Ozzy sound and look as good as he possibly could. And we also knew that if we were not okay with that situation, there's probably three dozen people waiting in the wings that would gladly come along and do what we were doing."
He continued: "It got to a point where I was being expected to write more songs, and I wanted to kind of boost up my publishing and what have you, and for whatever reason, I was not able to cut a deal that was acceptable with Sharon, and I couldn't really get the same deal that I wanted. And at the moment, I just said, 'It's time for me to move on.' And it was a difficult decision — you leave the biggest band in the country. But I said, 'You know what? I've done it all once. I did one round, one tour, one this, one that, and let me move on and see what happens.' And I left. And I think she might have been a little upset about that, about the fact that I left. But for whatever reason, we had some accounting issues. So all of a sudden, I was having a hard time getting paid, and my accountants went back and forth a few times. And all of this got resolved eventually. It was just a payment thing — it was, like, late payments and stuff. And I don't know what the motivation was, or whatever it was, or if there was even a motivation — maybe it was just 'out of sight, out of mind' — but once I wasn't in the band, people weren't jumping to take my call about things like that. So it got resolved, and it got resolved in probably 1992 or 1993. And ever since then, everything's just been fine."
Soussan went on to say that he has heard "some really weird stories" about why he supposedly left Ozzy's band, including that he had sued Osbourne over unpaid royalties. He clarified: "I was asked to join a lawsuit that [former Ozzy bassist] Bob Daisley had, but I never joined that lawsuit; I didn't have anything to sue anybody about. I think Bob and Lee [Kerslake, former Ozzy drummer] had some issues that were going on, but when they called me, I just said the same thing I just said to you. I said, 'Why would I wanna do this?' So that was it. But all of a sudden, you hear these stories that we were in court. We never went to court. I never sued anybody."
"The Ultimate Sin" reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified platinum in the United States on May 14, 1986, by the RIAA and and double platinum in October 1994. It was the follow-up to "Bark At The Moon", which was the first Ozzy album to feature Jake E. Lee on guitar following the tragic death of Randy Rhoads.
The writing sessions for "The Ultimate Sin" were by disagreements over songwriting, with Jake, who claimed he had been cheated out of the credits he deserved on "Bark At The Moon", later telling Ultimate Classic Rock that he demanded a revised contract before agreeing to contribute. Daisley was dismissed during the making of the LP and Soussan was brought in as is his replacement. Ozzy later invited Daisley to come back to help with the lyric writing, which Bob had shouldered the bulk of since the start of the singer's solo career.
Two years ago, Ozzy said that "The Ultimate Sin" was his least favorite album he has ever released as a solo artist. Although it's currently out of print physically (but available on streaming services), the 1986 LP has been certified double platinum. "[Producer] Ron Nevison didn't really do a great production job," Ozzy told Rolling Stone. "The songs weren't bad; they were just put down weird. Everything felt and sounded the fucking same. There was no imagination. If there was ever an album I'd like to remix and do better, it would be 'The Ultimate Sin'."
Daisley, who is credited with all the lyrics on "The Ultimate Sin" apart from "Shot In The Dark" (which is credited to Soussan and Osbourne), later said he was also heavily involved with the music writing on the LP.
"I did write the album with Jake and then Ozzy and I had a falling out and he fired me and he was going to fire Jake as well," he explained in an interview. "I've never been a 'yes' man. So a few weeks later, he called me and he had Phil Soussan on bass but I'd already written a lot of the music with Jake, so they knew they had to credit me on the songs anyway, so I guess he thought he may as well get his money's worth and asked me to come back and write the lyrics also. I did that as sort of a paid job. I write it, you pay me and take it and go. So I spent a few weeks writing the lyrics for the whole album. Then they recorded it. In a way, I am glad I am not on that album. It's the one album I didn't really like." 3

STRYPER's MICHAEL SWEET: 'Sometimes I Question God Too'In a new interview with music journalist Joel Gausten, STRYPER singer/guitarist Michael Sweet discusses a variety of topics, including the just-released debut album, "Evil And Divine", by SUNBOMB, his collaboration with L.A. GUNS guitarist Tracii Guns. Additionally, Sweet (a Christian) and Gausten (a Satanist) engage in a frank discussion on their views on faith and togetherness in the age of COVID-19.
"Michael is one of my favorite people in the music business: Open, giving, straightforward and someone who calls it as he sees it," Gausten says. "We approached things as gentlemen in a very frank and honest way and — gasp — reached common ground on many things. Michael has my deepest respect and gratitude for his willingness to engage in a chat of this nature."
An excerpt from the chat appears below.
Gausten: "I want to switch gears and bring up a topic that I've wanted to talk with you about since the beginning of the pandemic. There have certainly been times over the course of the past year when I've watched the news, lost people due to the virus or experienced various other things, and the song I've referred to most in these times is the STRYPER song 'Lost' from 'God Damn Evil'. That's certainly helped me feel a bit uplifted when I needed that experience. Obviously, you're a Christian artist. As such, a lot of people look to you to use your faith as a way to project positivity and something they can find solace in. How has your faith enabled you to continue to be that public messenger? At the same time, how has your faith helped you personally deal with the unprecedented challenges we've all been facing for the last several months?"
Sweet: "My faith has certainly helped me get through the past year and a half especially — and my entire life. The darkest point of my life was 2007 through 2009 [with the illness and passing of my first wife, Kyle.] That being said, I've fall into depression; I get bummed out, concerned and fearful like everybody else. I'm flesh and blood and human, and it happens to all of us. But my faith does help me get through it. My faith runs really deep. Whether other people believe it or not, I believe that God has helped me and kind of steered the ship throughout my life. I've seen it firsthand; I've seen miracles and things that shouldn't have happened that made me say, 'Wow! Okay, I believe.' I see it over and over again. Certainly, right now at this point in time, it would be a really easy time for me to lose my faith and to walk away from my faith. I'll be honest; sometimes, in the back corners of my mind, I question God too. I think, 'Hello. Where are you? I don't see you.' I've been there and done that many times. But somehow and some way, maybe through a simple prayer or maybe through a scripture or someone calling or texting me, I zero in on my faith again and say, 'Okay. This is where I need to be and where I want to be' and continue down that path."
Gausten: "I appreciate your answer. One thing I've always admired about the opportunities I've had to converse with you is your openness and honesty about these issues and that you've faced challenges. I think that's so important, especially these days when I think our greatest strength comes from finding commonality with people."
Sweet: "Absolutely — no doubt about it. Even though it's a cliché that's used so many times and almost corny, we really are all brothers and sisters. We're part of one race. It bums me out to see such division over race still. It's another cliché, but all lives do matter. We're all brothers and sisters just trying to figure out life and trying to get through it, survive, pay our bills and put food on the table. In that process, we should be concerned with each other more. We should love one another more and take time for one another. And we don't, because we're so caught up in the craziness of this world and our schedules — get up, brush your teeth, eat your breakfast, go to work, come home, eat your dinner, go to bed and pay those bills every month. It's a struggle we all face, but because of all that stuff, we lose sight of the most important part – which is to love one another. That's my view."
Gausten: "Absolutely. No matter what religious inclination we have, we all know we start our physical life at Point A and end it at Point B. Some folks like yourself believe in Point C, and that's fantastic, but we all have those struggles from Point A to Point B. I think the goal is to find some kind of common ground, whether it be through music or whatever. That's the lesson I think we should take from the last 12 to 15 months."
Sweet: "For sure. It's interesting, because you do see that lesson being learned and applied by some — but yet by others, it's almost the complete opposite."
Gausten: "That leads to my next question. Your Facebook page is my favorite to follow — not necessarily because I agree with every word you post; I certainly do not — but I find it refreshing that an artist like yourself — who has a fanbase that may or not follow you in some of your thoughts — still posts what's on your mind. I find that increasingly rare with a lot of musicians, especially when everything kind of results in a finger being pointed. Why is it important for you to continue to take that position and use social media in the nature you have?"
Sweet: "My thinking is that maybe it'll help somebody. It's not about Michael Sweet; it's about much more than that. I'm guilty of this too, but some artists' pages are always about promotion. I do a lot of that myself, but at the same time, I want to make it about helping people. I want to make it about inspiring and encouraging people. That's the most important part to me — and also on my tombstone, if it's written that they remember that, 'Well, I didn't always agree with this guy, but he was the real deal. He wasn't this way in public and then that way in private.'
"I've met so many people who are one way in public and another way in private. I want to say to them, 'Why don't you just be this way in public? What's wrong with that? Why do you have to present this fake façade image?' It's just so weird to me. For example, you've got Tom [Araya] with SLAYER. I respect Tom — this is no disrespect to him at all — but he's in SLAYER with pentagrams and this image and [mimics Araya's singing style], and then he's a church-going Catholic, you know? And that's great, but my point is, I want to be the same Michael Sweet on stage and off stage. I feel that's who I am. You might come into my life and spend a day with me and hear a few f-bombs come out of my mouth, and you'll go, 'Whoa, I wasn't expecting that from Michael Sweet!' But I've talked about that before; I've said, 'Yeah, I drink. I smoke. I swear occasionally.' I'm flesh and blood; I don't pretend to be something that I'm not.
Gausten: "Frankly, I think that makes what you're saying even more valid."
Sweet: "Well, it's important to me — being real, flaws and all. Because I am real and because I lay it all out there, that also opens the door to turn people off and lose fans. I have a lot of Christian fans who follow what I do and what we do, and when they hear I've just smoked a cigar, they're unfollowing me. I just think, 'Wow. Okay.' Those are the people who don't get it, in my opinion. It's all about judging, and it's all about the small, little piece of what life should be and what the message should be instead of the entire piece. I just feel like, wow, it's so backwards and so old. It's such an old way of thinking, and we need to progress. I just want to be honest. I would love to go to a church and have a pastor come out and say, 'Man, I got drunk last night. I could hardly wake up this morning. I'm not saying that's a good thing, but it happened, and I just want you all to know that these are the things that happen in my life. I've got issues with this or issues with that' — just that real, from-the-heart mentality."
Gausten: "Well, the ability to embrace obstacles and overcome them is what I feel is perhaps most in line with God."
Sweet: "Yeah! What happens often is that people pretend to be something; when they fall, everyone's blown out of the water. We all fall. Every single person. I don't care who you are; you have some issue, some weakness, some temptation – something. We all fall, but we like to point fingers at those who do fall and not at ourselves when there's so much in our closets hidden deep away."

CHARLIE BENANTE: How I Became ANTHRAX's Main Music WriterANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante spoke to "Drum For The Song", the podcast hosted by Dane Campbell, son of ex-MOTÖRHEAD guitarist Phil Campbell, about how he became the band's primary music writer. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "How it happened was I couldn't really convey what I was hearing in my head through drumming to someone else, so I had to teach myself how to play another instrument, which turned out to be guitar, because it came very natural to me; it was easy. And that's how I would do it. I would just put tons of riffs on tapes and then, just later on, listen back and compile 'em and just make a song out of them, and then bring it to the band. And that's how it happened. And basically, it was after our first album [1984's 'Fistful Of Metal'] when we lost our singer [Neil Turbin], and we went in to start writing, which would be the 'Spreading The Disease' record, our second album, and Scott [Ian, guitar] basically took over a lot of the lyrics; that was his department. So I stepped up and took over the main musical side of things. And that's how it was, and that's how it is."
ANTHRAX is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2021 with a number of special activities and events. Formed by Ian and bassist Dan Lilker in Queens, New York on July 18, 1981, ANTHRAX was one of the first thrash metal bands to emerge from the East Coast and quickly became regarded as a leader in the genre alongside METALLICA, SLAYER and MEGADETH.
Active over the past five decades, ANTHRAX has released 11 studio albums, been awarded multiple gold and platinum certifications, received six Grammy nominations, toured the world since 1984 playing thousands of shows, including headlining Madison Square Garden and playing Yankee Stadium with the "Big Four".
ANTHRAX's latest effort, 2016's "For All Kings", was called by some critics strongest album to date. Its arrival followed a five-year period during which the group experienced a rebirth of sorts, beginning with ANTHRAX's inclusion on the "Big Four" tour, and continuing with the 2011 release of comeback LP "Worship Music". 2

THE OFFSPRING's DEXTER HOLLAND: 'We're Not Gonna Get Back To Normal Until People Get Vaccinated'THE OFFSPRING singer Bryan "Dexter" Holland spoke to Tom Power, host of "Q" on Canada's CBC Radio One, about his band's decision to encourage fans to receive their COVID-19 vaccines by reworking the chorus of their 1994 classic "Come Out And Play" to say "you gotta go get vaccinated." The new version of the song was shared in March on THE OFFSPRING's Instagram, featuring a snippet from the song's music video with the reworked lyrics.
Holland said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I went to school for this. I feel like I have a little bit of a background in it, and I do think it's a good idea [to get the COVID-19 vaccine]. And whatever you think about all this, the truth is that we're not gonna get back to normal until people get vaccinated; that's just the reality of it. So why don't we just get this done with so that we can all go to shows again and do the things that we love to do. That was kind of the reasoning behind it. And I do feel like it's the right thing to do. I felt strongly enough to put this out."
Asked about the fan response to the new version of "Come Out And Play", Dexter said: "There's been a little bit of a mixed reaction. I was a little more surprised than I thought I would be… There were a lot of people that were surprisingly kind of angry about it. But that's where we're at — we are in maybe the most divisive period in our nation's history, if not the world's history, and this is kind of par for the course.
"On a scientific or factual level, it's frustrating [to see people who are vaccine hesitant]," he continued. "On a personal level, I understand. People are unsure about certain things. And there could still be some sort of crazy side effect that we don't know about. I think that's unlikely, given how many millions of doses have been administered. But besides that, there's all this conflicting information on the Internet. Again, another sign of our times where people are getting just bombarded with all this conflicting information, and it's hard to know what to do sometimes."
Although the COVID-19 vaccine was produced quickly because of the urgency of the health crisis and the number of clinical trial volunteers, Holland says the vaccine was not rushed, and it relies on years of research.
"With the vaccine, I know there's a lot of belief out there that, 'Well, these were developed too quickly,'" he said. "I think part of the story that's not out there is that there's a whole platform of technology that's been developed over the last five years or so that was happening — the mRNA vaccines. They were working on this for flu vaccines over the last five — really, almost 10 years — but the last five years. So this great technology happened to be right on deck when this happened. And that's what allowed it to be quickly adapted to the coronavirus. So it's not as quick as everyone thinks."
Holland has a Ph.D. in molecular biology and wrote his thesis on microRNA in HIV genomes. The 175-page research paper, titled "Identification of Human MicroRNA-Like Sequences Embedded within the Protein-Encoding Genes of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus", had been published in PLoS One. Holland had received his Ph.D. from University of Southern California in 2017.
Released in 1994, "Come Out And Play" was THE OFFSPRING's alternative radio and MTV breakthrough hit, kicking off a mid-to-late nineties streak of success, including albums "Smash", "Ixnay On The Hombre" and "Americana", which have helped the band shift more than 17 million albums to date, per MRC Data.
THE OFFSPRING's tenth studio album, "Let The Bad Times Roll", arrived on April 16 via Concord Records. The follow-up to 2012's "Days Go By" was once again produced by Bob Rock, who also worked on the band's previous two LPs.

RANDY RHOADS's Stolen Guitar And Amp Head Finally Returned To His FamilyA guitar and amplifier head belonging to late OZZY OSBOURNE guitarist Randy Rhoads have been returned to his family after they were stolen a year and a half ago.
In late November 2019, some of Randy's gear and memorabilia was swiped from the Musonia School Of Music in North Hollywood, California, the school where Randy Rhoads famously taught guitar and which was run by Randy's late mother Delores. Following Randy's death 39 years ago, the school drew fans from all over the world as a place where the Rhoads family happily opened their hearts to share the life of Randy.
After the theft, Ozzy offered up a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for stealing the gear and/or return of the stolen items. A short time later, a woman discovered a large number of the items in a dumpster in North Hollywood, but not the guitar and amplifier head which had remained missing — until now.
On Wednesday (May 19), Randy's sister, Kathy Rhoads D'Argenzio, took to her Instagram to share the news that Randy's first electric guitar, a 1963 Harmony Rocket, and a prototype of his rare signature Marshall Amplifiers amp head, were finally returned to the family.
She wrote: "YES!!!! It's OFFICIAL!!! …. And You heard it CORRECT!!!!! It's BACK. It's been a CRAZY 'Randy week' for sure…..but this is Beyond Awesome as well!!!!!!! I am so thankful for this …. No words.
"I CANNOT answer ANY Questions, as this is an 'ON GOING INVESTIGATION'. So Don't ask!!!!
"Wow!! Absolutely AMAZING!!!!!
"But trust me…I will 'follow up' when I can!!
"Thanks everyone for all your concerns and love.
"The Rhoads Family
"Still missing items ……
"Thank you to the North Hollywood Police Department!!!! (missing since November 2019)".
Several items belonging to Rhoads and his family were recovered in early December 2019. Local resident Bobbi Fredriksz said she spotted a guitar and photos in a dumpster as she was walking her dog on an early Sunday morning. She initially didn't think anything of it until she got home and saw a report about the theft on ABC7.
"As I was laying in bed, not feeling well, when it came on I was like wait a minute, oh my God," Fredriksz told ABC7. "I ran all the way back over here it was still here. Somebody else started to see it and called police."
Musonia School Of Music was founded in 1948, as a place where children and adults in the local community could receive music education at an affordable price. Run today by Delores's son Kelle Rhoads, Musonia continues to teach local students of all ages piano, drums, and guitar.
Randy Rhoads learned how to play guitar at Musonia. After his passing, Musonia now serves a dual role as a music school and the Randy Rhoads museum.
Randy Rhoads and two others were killed on March 19, 1982 when the small plane they were flying in at Flying Baron Estates in Leesburg, Florida struck Ozzy's tour bus, then crashed into a mansion. Rhoads was 25 years old.
Rhoads, who played in Ozzy's band four decades ago, will receive the Musical Excellence Award at this year's Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony, which will be held at Cleveland, Ohio's Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on October 30.
The Musical Excellence Award is given to artists, musicians, songwriters and producers whose originality and influence creating music have had a dramatic impact on music.
Delores Rhoads died in November 2015 at the age of 95.
Randy paid homage to Delores with "Dee", a beautiful classical guitar piece on OZZY OSBOURNE's 1980 album "Blizzard Of Ozz".

METALLICA Is Bringing Its Streaming Concert Series Back For One Night OnlyIn honor of Month Of Giving, METALLICA is bringing back its concert series, "#MetallicaMondays", where the band is streaming a complete live show for fans on the group's YouTube channel and on Facebook every week.
The special, one-night-only event on Monday, May 24 will feature METALLICA's September 6, 2018 concert in Lincoln, Nebraska shot on the North American leg of the "WorldWired" tour, including a very rare performance of "The Unforgiven III".
The show premieres next week on YouTube and Facebook at 5 p.m. PDT / 8 p.m. EDT. You can set a reminder now on the METALLICA YouTube channel so you don’t forget.
And just like all of METALLICA's #MetallicaMondays shows last year, this one will feature simultaneous fundraisers on both platforms for the All Within My Hands Month Of Giving benefitting Feeding America and Direct Relief.
Last August, METALLICA announced that it had raised more than $100,000 from its #MetallicaMondays streaming concert series for its All Within My Hands foundation.
METALLICA launched the free weekly series at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to provide "live" entertainment to their fans as the concert industry shut down. After more than five months of sharing full performances spanning the band's entire career — from 1983 through 2019 — METALLICA closed out the series in August with a 2017 show from Mexico City.
If you missed any of the shows or you would simply like to relive them, you can watch them on demand on METALLICA's YouTube channel.
METALLICA frontman James Hetfield revealed this past March that the band had written "over 10 songs" for the follow-up to 2016's "Hardwired… To Self-Destruct" album.
"Hardwired… To Self-Destruct" debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart, selling 291,000 copies in its first week of release.

METALLICA, STEVE VAI, PAUL STANLEY And More Sell Guitars To Raise Money For JASON BECKERMETALLICA, Steve Vai, Paul Stanley and Joe Satriani are among the icons of the guitar-playing world who have donated instruments and autographed guitars to help guitarist and composer Jason Becker. Eight of these instruments are now for sale in the official Jason Becker Reverb shop, with proceeds going directly to The Jason Becker Special Needs Trust.
Becker — the composer, virtuoso musician, and former child guitar prodigy — has been suffering from ALS for more than 30 years, but that hasn't stopped him from creating music. His latest album, "Triumphant Hearts", was released in 2018, after Becker composed the music via computer using his eyes and enlisted heavy hitters like Marty Friedman, Joe Bonamassa, Joe Satriani, Uli Jon Roth, Neal Schon, Jeff Loomis and Paul Gilbert to play the parts.
Earlier this year, during a severe health scare, Becker's family, friends, and fans rallied together again to aid Becker, launching the #ShredForJasonBecker livestream fundraisers on Herman Li of DRAGONFORCE's Twitch channel and getting together all of the guitars you can now find in Becker's Reverb shop.
The capstone of the collection is the Triumphant Friends 2 Guitar, one of Becker's Kiesel Numbers signature guitars, signed by a host of famous friends: Steve Vai, Tosin Abasi, Nili Brosh, Herman Li, Alex Lee, Albert Lee, Neal Schon, Sammy Hagar, Chris Broderick and METALLICA's James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo and Lars Ulrich.
But that's merely one of the star-signed instruments for sale.
Satriani donated and signed Flame, his custom-painted Ibanez JS signature guitar that he played during 2004's "G3" tour. KISS's Paul Stanley has donated and signed an Ibanez signature model of his own. Jeff Loomis, who performed on "Triumphant Hearts", has donated an autographed signature model from Jackson, with additional guitars coming from Mark Tremonti, TRIVIUM, Nili Brosh, and Zoltan Bathory from FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH

TIMES OF GRACE Feat. KILLSWITCH ENGAGE Members: 'Songs Of Loss And Separation' Album Due In JulyTIMES OF GRACE, the collaborative project featuring KILLSWITCH ENGAGE members Jesse Leach (vocals) and Adam Dutkiewicz (guitar), will release its long-awaited sophomore album, "Songs Of Loss And Separation", on July 16. The disc's first single, "The Burden Of Belief", will arrive tomorrow (Friday, May 21). A short preview of the track is available below.
"Songs Of Loss And Separation" track listing:
01. The Burden Of Belief
02. Mend You
03. Rescue
04. Far From Heavenless
05. Bleed Me
06. Medusa
07. Currents
08. To Carry The Weight
09. Cold
10. Forever
Last December, Leach said that he and Dutkiewicz were "finalizing" things for the new record's release. He also blamed the album's delay on the fact that 2020 was "a shitshow," in part due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. "We just wanna make sure it comes out properly — the way that we want it to be presented, and have some good visual ideas and some good artwork," he explained. "And we found a good home at a label. So all of that is wrapping up."
Back in August, Dutkiewicz told the Metal Blade Live Series that he was "really excited" about the new TIMES OF GRACE material. "There's some pretty mellow vibes on that record, for sure," he said. "It's definitely one of the darkest things I've ever written topically."
In July, Leach told the "BREWtally Speaking Podcast" that the new TIMES OF GRACE album is "leaps and bounds better [than 2011's 'The Hymn Of A Broken Man']. It's more creative, it's more genuine, I feel," he said. "I feel like there was definitely a bleed-in of KILLSWITCH influence on that first record, and how could there not be, with me and Adam working together. And I feel like this new record sort of pulls away from that and really sort of defines us and our sound as TIMES OF GRACE, where I listen back to 'Live In Love' [from the first TIMES OF GRACE album] and certain songs like that, and you can hear the KILLSWITCH influence. And that's cool, and fans, I'm sure, appreciated that, but I'm very happy to pull away from that and do something different for this new record."
Leach went on to speak in more detail about TIMES OF GRACE's musical progression and the band's plans to release a full-length album and a separate EP.
"It's a mixed bag [of musical styles]," he told "BREWtally Speaking Podcast". "There's definitely some of that sort of bluesy [stuff] — definitely a lot of blues, I should say. But it comes in different forms. I'd say there's a mixture of a touch of some stoner vibes going on there. There's definitely a touch of, like, I guess the term would be 'post metal,' atmospheric metal — guitars with a lot of delay and space with big, heavy bass and slow-moving stuff. There's more rock and roll, more indie rock. And there's still traces of the metal that we're known for here and there."
He continued: "I think with the direction we're heading in, and why there's gonna be two releases, this first release we wanted to make sure it sort of didn't really have any of that heavy KILLSWITCH-y vibe to it. So the first record is going to be what I feel is our signature sound that we've sort of embraced, and it just kind of happened through Adam's writing. And then the EP will be a little bit more of the metal that you have come to know and reflect on the first record. So it's a real mixed bag. And I'm glad to say I don't think you can really put a genre on us because of that. We'll see. I'm sure people are gonna still call it metalcore. I don't even know what the fuck that term means anymore. But I'm happy to say that I think that we are no longer going to be called that style of music, because I think we're more of a heavy metal/rock band, if you will."
TIMES OF GRACE entered Signature Sound studio in San Diego, California in late 2017 to begin recording material for its new LP. Sitting behind the drum kit during the sessions was Dan Gluszak, who previously played drums for TIMES OF GRACE on tour and has since been named an official member of the band.
"The Hymn Of A Broken Man" was released in January 2011 via Roadrunner Records. The CD sold around 10,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 44 on The Billboard 200 chart.
Dutkiewicz and Leach originally worked together on KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's benchmark album, 2002's "Alive Or Just Breathing". That record has become definitive for an entire generation of American metal, with Leach's voice and uplifting lyrics serving as one of the key elements that propelled the album to "modern classic" status. Leach left KILLSWITCH ENGAGE shortly after "Alive Or Just Breathing"'s release but rejoined the group in early 2012 following the departure of his replacement, Howard Jones.

BATTLE BEAST And SMACKBOUND Singers Join Forces As LAURENNE/LOUHIMO; Debut Album Due In JulyFrontiers Music Srl has announced the release of the debut album from one of its most exciting new projects, a collaboration between powerhouse Finnish vocalists Noora Louhimo (BATTLE BEAST) and Netta Laurenne (SMACKBOUND), under the banner LAURENNE/LOUHIMO. "The Reckoning" will be unleashed on July 9 on CD/LP/digital. Today, fans can get their first taste of the album with the pummelling grooves of debut single and music video, "Bitch Fire", which features a guest guitar solo by Samy Elbanna from LOST SOCIETY.
Laurenne says: "With this album, I wanted to capture the essence of classic heavy metal and hard rock and combine it with great melodies and lyrics that have value. It was clear from the beginning, having two strong voices on the album, that this album was going to be full of power, energy, attitude and emotion. I envisioned it lovingly kicking everyone's ass, my own included, and I think it does just that. It's pushing us to do better and evolve, yet having great empathy towards the struggles we all face as humans."
Adds Louhimo: "My inspiration was definitely the thought of empowering and the songs giving a feeling of strength and sensitivity. And us interpreting the songs from our hearts and souls with full force, leaving no question about how passionate we are as vocalists and artists."
Serafino Perugino, Frontiers president/head of A&R, said: "I believe Netta is a truly gifted and talented artist, and this is one of a few records besides SMACKBOUND that we will start a fruitful creative and artistic cooperation with her on. To pair her with Noora, who literally blows everyone away with her smashing vocals in not only her main band BATTLE BEAST, but also on MAGNUS KARLSSON'S FREE FALL and HEART HEALER records, is incredibly exciting and an honor."
After Perugino approached Netta about the possibility of some new projects for the label, including a duets album, Netta realized this was the perfect opportunity to fulfill her idea of a collaborative album with Noora. And now, these two incredible singers have put together a storming melodic metal album.
Track listing:
01. Time To Kill The Night
02. The Reckoning
03. Tongue Of Dirt
04. Striking Like A Thunder
05. Bitch Fire
06. Hurricane Love
07. To The Wall
08. Viper's Kiss
09. Walk Through Fire
10. Dancers Of Truth 2

KORN And PUCK HCKY Release New Hockey-Themed CollaborationPuck Hcky, the hockey-based fashion brand, has released a new collection of gear with the legendary band KORN.
Matt Marini, CEO of Puck Hcky, says: "When KORN dropped their first record, you knew it was something very special the moment it blasted out of the speakers and literally rattled your brain. That amazing low end, the groove, the vocal styling and the phenomenal guitar work were so original and remain so to this day. KORN has remained consistently great over 25 years and 13 albums, and it is truly an honor for Puck Hcky to be working with them. We had a great time creating this collection together, and there is much more to come."
The Korn x Puck Hcky collection includes pro-level quality crested jerseys, hoodies, flannels, joggers, hats, raglans and tees.
The entire collection is available at www.puckhcky.com.
Based in Royal Oak, Michigan, about 10 minutes north of Detroit, Puck Hcky started in 2015 when Marini decided that the hockey world needed a "cool" fashion brand and his partner, Puck Hcky president Amy Steffek, pushed to "go for it." "So we jumped in, and Puck Hcky was born," Marini told California Rubber. "We are having an absolute blast with the brand and growing day by day. We have an amazing crew here, too. Everyone is totally focused on making Puck Hcky the go-to hockey-fashion brand for the masses."
Regarding Puck Hcky's artist collaborations, Marini said: "What makes all of the collaborations special is that we truly get each partner to participate in the creation of the designs, which brings a certain level of authenticity to the end-products. We refuse to put any product out for sale until they are 100 percent approved by each partner we work with. It's awesome."

Listen To FASTER PUSSYCAT's cover Of JOHNNY THUNDERS & THE HEARTBREAKERS' 'Pirate Love'FASTER PUSSYCAT's cover version of the JOHNNY THUNDERS & THE HEARTBREAKERS song "Pirate Love" can be streamed below. The track is the B-side of the band's new single, "NOLA", which will be released on May 21 in two formats: digital and a seven-inch vinyl single. The vinyl will be available exclusively via the band's web site, www.fasterpussycat.com.
For years, FASTER PUSSYCAT's aggressive touring schedule made it difficult for the band to work on new material. So when the COVID-19 pandemic hit and there were no live shows for the foreseeable future, the group immediately shifted gears and entered the studio.
"NOLA" is a song inspired by the fabulous city of New Orleans, a city that fronman Taime Downe holds dear to his heart.
When the band started working on making new music for a release, "NOLA" was the obvious choice to lead with. Downe and guitarist Sam Bam Koltun began working together in the studio, tracking guitars on what would be the first new song from the band since 2006's "The Power And The Glory Hole".
The B-side of the single is "Pirate Love", which was goes back to FASTER PUSSYCAT's club days, also Inspired by the New Orleans theme, as Thunders passed away in New Orleans in 1991, and has had a major influence on Downe and the whole band.
To celebrate the release, FASTER PUSSYCAT and ENUFF Z'NUFF are pairing up and coming "Straight Outta Quarantine" throughout North America, showing all the warts, scars and tattoos that only a package like this can, which have only grown deeper over the past year.
Featuring the MTV smash hits "House Of Pain", "New Thing", "Bathroom Wall" and "Fly High Michelle", the "Straight Outta Quarantine" tour — which has been booked and re-booked with careful consideration of each venue's COVID-19 regulations and the safety of all involved — is without question going to be one of the most long-overdue rock and roll parties of our lifetime.

ANTHRAX Bassist FRANK BELLO's Memoir, 'Fathers, Brothers, And Sons', To Be Released In OctoberRare Bird has set an October 12 release date for "Fathers, Brothers, And Sons: Surviving Anguish, Abandonment, And Anthrax" by ANTHRAX bassist Frank Bello and Joel McIver. The foreword was written by KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons.
Bello, a member of ANTHRAX since 1984, has sold over ten million albums, traveled the globe more times than he cares to count, and enthralled audiences from the world's biggest stages. His long-awaited memoir would be a gripping read even if its pages only contained stories about his life as a recording and touring musician. While those stories are indeed included — and will blow your mind — Bello also focuses on deeper subjects in "Fathers, Brothers, And Sons". Once you've heard his life story, you'll understand why.
Born into a family of five, Frank grew up in difficult circumstances. His father abandoned his wife and children, and Frank's mother moved heaven and earth to keep them fed and educated. Left with no male role model, Frank found inspiration in heavy metal bass players, following their example and forging a career with ANTHRAX from his early teens — first as a roadie, and then as the group's bass player.
International stardom came Frank's way by the mid-to-late 1980s, when he was still in his early twenties, but tragedy struck in 1996 when his brother Anthony was murdered in New York. Although the case went to trial, the suspected killer was released without charge after a witness, intimidated by violent elements, withdrew his testimony.
Two decades later, Frank is a father himself to a young son. Like many men who grew up without the guidance of a dad, he asks himself important questions about the meaning of fatherhood and how to do the job well. This is the wisdom which "Fathers, Brothers, And Sons" offers readers.
Despite the emotive nature of these topics, "Fathers, Brothers, And Sons" is a funny, entertaining read. A man with a keen sense of humor and the perspective to know how surreal his story has been, Frank doesn't preach or seek sympathy in his book. Instead, he simply passes on the wisdom gained from a lifetime of turbulence, paying tribute to his loved ones in a way that will resonate with us all.
Says Frank: "I was one in a family of five, growing up in challenging circumstances. When my father took off and abandoned us, my mother and family moved heaven and earth to keep us fed and educated. As I had no male role model, I found inspiration in — believe it or not — heavy metal bass players, and began to forge a career with ANTHRAX, first as a guitar tech, and then as the group's bass player. When I was in my mid-20s, ANTHRAX experienced international success, but then the roof caved in again in 1996, when my brother was murdered. And although the case went to trial, the only witness to the killer withdrew his testimony.
"I write this not for you to feel sympathy for me, but because, now as the father of a young son, I ask myself about the meaning of fatherhood and how to do the job well, something that's so important to me for my son. This is the wisdom that my book, 'Fathers, Brothers, And Sons' dives into. It's actually a funny, entertaining read; it's not preachy, and again, I'm not looking for sympathy. I just wanted to pass on the wisdom that I gained from a lifetime of turbulence, and by paying tribute to loved ones in a way that will resonate with them.
"This is my story."

SAMMY HAGAR, KEVIN CRONIN And RICK SPRINGFIELD Perform At Seventh Annual 'Acoustic-4-A-Cure' Benefit Concert (Video)Sammy Hagar's seventh annual "Acoustic-4-A-Cure" concert returned on Saturday, May 15 with a star-studded lineup that delivered unforgettable musical moments and collaborative jams by SAMMY HAGAR & THE WABOS, REO SPEEDWAGON's Kevin Cronin and Dave Amato, TRAIN and Rick Springfield. Following a hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the benefit returned to an intimate outdoor setting at a private estate in Southern California, doubling its annual six figure goal for the Pediatric Cancer Program at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, to also benefit MusicCares, the Festival of Children Foundation and Jesse Rees Foundation this year.
Hagar said: "'Acoustic-4-A-Cure' #7 was so much fun. Everyone gave so much and the small outdoor crowd felt like 20K."
Highlights of the performances, which can be seen below, include Rick Springfield's bluesy rendition of Jimi Hendrix's "Red House".
Pat Monahan added: "I've been a part of 'Acoustic-4-A Cure' four times now because of Sammy Hagar's great big heart. Here's a man that doesn't need to be out there raising money for anyone yet he continues to do so in the beautiful form of bringing people together and celebrating music! What a great way to spend your time on stage or in the audience. Let's keep it going."
Cronin, who returned for his second time performing at the benefit said, "Playing live music with friends at Sammy's 'Acoustic-4-A Cure' and raising money for worthy causes like the Pediatric Cancer Program at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, and one of my favorite charities, MusicCares, is the definition of a win/win for me."
Springfield, who also returned for his second performance at the benefit added: "My dear friend Sammy Hagar is doing such good work raising funds for UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. It's my privilege to help in any way I can with such a worthy cause."
Dr. Jean Nakamura said: "We are deeply grateful for the incredible commitment of 'Acoustic-4-A-Cure', which continues to power on to create hope and progress for kids with cancer. What Sammy and 'Acoustic-4-A-Cure' has achieved is a lesson about vision, creativity and the energy to make it happen. We need these strengths to cure cancer."

MEGADETH's DAVID ELLEFSON Deactivates Twitter Account Amid Sex Video ScandalDavid Ellefson has apparently deactivated his Twitter account more than a week after the leak of the MEGADETH bassist's messages and videos featuring a woman who is not his wife.
A search for the 56-year-old musician's account on Thursday (May 20) returned the message: "This account doesn't exist". Also deactivated is Ellefson's personal Facebook page, although his official artist page on Facebook is still up. Meanwhile, Ellefson's Instagram has been set to private.
Earlier in the month, sexually tinged messages and explicit video footage involving Ellefson were posted on Twitter. The longtime MEGADETH member later released a statement on Instagram denying all social media chatter that he "groomed" an underage fan.
In his statement on May 10, Ellefson wrote: "As you may or not know, some private and personal conversations and interactions have surfaced online, released with ill intention by a third party who was not authorized to have them or share them. While certainly embarrassing, I want to address it as openly and honestly as possible.
"As much as it's not something I'm proud of, these were private, adult interactions that were taken out of context and manipulated to inflict maximum damage to my reputation, my career and family," he continued. "The other party involved has made a statement which you can see below. I thank her for doing so and hope that this clarifies that the situation was not at all as presented."
Ellefson's statement was accompanied by a screenshot of a social media post from the woman involved, who denied any suggestions that she was underage at the time. The woman also revealed she recorded the intimate moments and shared them with a friend without Ellefson's permission, calling herself "naïve" for doing so and claiming that the contact between her and the musician was "all consensual and all online." She also called assumptions that she was "groomed" by Ellefson "misinformation".
"Yes, those video calls did happen, but I was the one to initiate it and never was I underage, I was always a consenting adult. Nothing inappropriate ever happened before that. It was all consensual, I'm not a victim and I have not been groomed in the slightest as I was the one to initiate it," the woman stated.
The same day, MEGADETH said it was "aware of the recent statements regarding David Ellefson" and indicated that it was "watching developments closely." The band added: "As it relates to creativity and business, we are all familiar with one another. However, there are clearly aspects of David's private life that he has kept to himself. As this situation unfolds, it is important that all voices be heard clearly and respectfully. We look forward to the truth coming to light."
David, who became a Lutheran pastor nearly a decade ago, and his wife Julie Ellefson have been married for 27 years. They reportedly dated for six years after getting together in 1988. After two days of engagement, they married on April 2, 1994. They have two children, Roman Alexander (25) and Athena Grace (22).
Ellefson, who has lived in Scottsdale, Arizona since 1994, is also an author and entrepreneur, holding the reins of EMP Label Group, Combat Records, Ellefson Coffee Co., and more, in addition to a diverse portfolio of brands and signature products. Ellefson was also inducted into the 2018 class of the Iowa Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame, just over the border from Jackson in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

NIKKI SIXX, ROB ZOMBIE, JOHN 5 And TOMMY CLUFETOS Launch Supergroup L.A. RATSNikki Sixx (MÖTLEY CRÜE), Rob Zombie, John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE, MARILYN MANSON) and Tommy Clufetos (OZZY OSBOURNE, BLACK SABBATH, ROB ZOMBIE) have joined forces in a new project called L.A. RATS. The quartet came together expressly to record a cover of "I've Been Everywhere" for the soundtrack to the upcoming movie "The Ice Road". "I've Been Everywhere" is a song written by Australian country singer Geoff Mack in 1959, and made popular by Lucky Starr in 1962.
The 12-song "Ice Road" soundtrack will feature covers, original songs and collaborations from artists, including Jason Isbell, Tim McGraw, THE CADILLAC THREE, Miranda Lambert, Carly Pearce and Mark Collie with Allison Moorer.
"The Ice Road", starring Liam Neeson, debuts on Netflix on June 25. The soundtrack will be released the same day. Directed by Jonathan Hensleigh ("The Punisher"), the action thriller finds Neeson starring as Mike, an ice driver sent to a rescue mission when a mine collapse leaves a group of miners trapped.
Scott Borchetta, founder and chairman of Big Machine Label Group, which will release the soundtrack, said: "That hard-charging sense of the road is a real common ground between rock, country and Americana. Musicians live the road life. They know the freedom, the speed, the gone and the get there — and every single artist on this soundtrack understands exactly why these songs have such enduring appeal."
Clufetos was a member of Zombie's band on 2006's "Educated Horses" and 2010's "Hellbilly Deluxe" albums, both of which also featured John 5.
John 5 previously worked with Sixx on the three original MÖTLEY CRÜE songs featured on the soundtrack to the band's 2019 biopic "The Dirt".

DINO CAZARES On Possibility Of Reunion Of FEAR FACTORY's Classic Lineup: 'I Don't See It For Any Amount Of Money'In a new interview with Australia's "Scars And Guitars" podcast, FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares was asked if he thinks he could make a reunion of the band's classic lineup — including vocalist Burton C. Bell, bassist Christian Olde Wolbers and drummer Raymond Herrera — happen if "enough money was dangled in front" of them. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Yeah, but it doesn't mean it's gonna last long. First of all, you're trying to get four guys who don't like each other together. For any amount of money, it doesn't mean it's gonna last long. It might not even make it through a whole tour. So why bother? There's too much baggage there…"
Referring to the lawsuits that were initiated by Olde Wolbers and Herrera against Cazares and Bell which led to the guitarist and the singer filing separately for bankruptcy, Dino said: "Lives were ruined. Lives were changed. Lives were at jeopardy. Careers were at jeopardy because of these lawsuits, and stuff like that. So, whether anybody can forgive each other for that, that's a whole other thing. I don't know. I don't see it for any amount of money. But if we did do it for the money, would that be fair, when there's no charisma on stage, no one wants to be there? Would that be fair to the fans? I don't think so."
Cazares went on to say that he understands the fans' enthusiasm for getting original members back together. "Of course, it's like a Fantasy Football League — you wanna put your favorite band together, your favorite team together," he said. "That's all it is. It's a Fantasy Football League, and that's all it is. And it's gonna remain a fantasy for now. I'm never gonna say never, 'cause you never know what's gonna happen. But I can say now, to get four members that don't wanna be with each other, don't wanna hang around each other, don't wanna be on the same stage with each other… It wouldn't be fair."
According to Dino, he and Bell made an attempt several years ago to reform FEAR FACTORY's classic lineup but were rebuffed by Olde Wolbers and Herrera. "We actually have tried to sit down and have conversations about mediation, about trying to put the band back together," he said. "That was something that me and Burton were actually offering to those guys to come back, but their demands were just insanely stupid; it was so high that nobody would benefit from it. So that idea got tossed out way back in 2015 — six years ago."
After FEAR FACTORY disbanded in 2002, the band reformed in the same year without Cazares, but with Olde Wolbers moving to guitar duties and Byron Stroud being brought in on bass. That lineup made two albums — 2004's "Archetype" and 2005's "Transgression" — and then took a break. Meanwhile, Cazares formed the band DIVINE HERESY and recorded two albums with the group before rekindling his friendship with Bell and launching a new version of FEAR FACTORY, also featuring Stroud and acclaimed extreme metal drummer Gene Hoglan.
FEAR FACTORY has made four albums since splitting with Olde Wolbers and Herrera: "Mechanize" (2010), "The Industrialist" (2012), "Genexus" (2015) and the upcoming "Aggression Continuum".
"Aggression Continuum" will arrive on June 18 via Nuclear Blast Records. The LP features Cazares, Bell and drummer Mike Heller.
Last September, Bell issued a statement officially announcing his departure from FEAR FACTORY, saying that he "cannot align" himself with someone whom he does not trust or respect.
Bell's exit from FEAR FACTORY came more than two weeks after Cazares launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist him with the production costs associated with the release of FEAR FACTORY's long-awaited new LP.
Bell later told Kerrang! magazine that his split with FEAR FACTORY was a long time coming. "It's been on my mind for a while," he said. "These lawsuits [over the rights to the FEAR FACTORY name] just drained me. The egos. The greed. Not just from bandmembers, but from the attorneys involved. I just lost my love for it.
"With FEAR FACTORY, it's just constantly been, like, 'What?!' You can only take so much. I felt like 30 years was a good run. Those albums I've done with FEAR FACTORY will always be out there. I'll always be part of that. I just felt like it was time to move forward."
Pressed about whether there is any chance of a reconciliation with FEAR FACTORY down the line, Burton said: "I'm done. I haven't spoken to Dino in three years. I haven't spoken to Raymond [Herrera, drums] and Christian [Olde Wolbers, bass] in longer than that, and I have no intention to. I'm just moving forward with my life."
In October, Dino issued a statement in which he said that the door for Burton to come back to FEAR FACTORY wouldn't "stay open forever." The guitarist also revealed that Burton "lost his legal rights" to the FEAR FACTORY name "after a long court battle" with Herrera and Olde Wolbers. "I had the opportunity to do something right, and I felt that obtaining the name in full was the right thing to do for the both of us, so after nearly four years we can continue as FEAR FACTORY, to make more records and to tour," he said. "That is why it is sad to hear that he decided to quit and, in my opinion, for whatever issues he has it seems like it could've been worked out." 6

MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE Teaches You How To Play 'Symphony Of Destruction' (Video)Video footage of MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine teaching you how to play the band's classic song "Symphony Of Destruction" can be seen below. The clip was apparently filmed at the April 2018 edition of the Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy Camp in Los Angeles, California but was only now uploaded to YouTube (courtesy of registered user "HYPERSONICCHAOS HYPERSONICCHAOS").
Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy Camp is a non-competitive atmosphere designed for all levels of musicians and music enthusiasts. Participants are placed in bands with like-minded people and skill level to make for an off-the-charts experience.
Some of the campers play well and even gave up careers as musicians to become CEOs and lawyers. Some campers can't play at all. What they all have in common is passion for rock music. At Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy Camp, they all get to pursue their passion — and meet, and play with the artists who became the soundtrack of their lives.
Mustaine will next appear at the November 2021 Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy Camp in Hollywood, Florida. Also scheduled to take part in the event are Steve Morse (DEEP PURPLE, DIXIE DREGS) and Richie Faulkner (JUDAS PRIEST).
Earlier this week, MEGADETH commented on speculation surrounding bassist David Ellefson's intimate involvement in communications with a woman other than his wife.
Last weekend, sexually tinged messages and explicit video footage involving the 56-year-old musician were leaked on Twitter. Ellefson later released a statement on Instagram denying all social media chatter that he "groomed" an underage fan. The woman in question also confirmed in her own post that the video calls between them did take place, but that she was the one to initiate them and that she was never underage when they happened.
On Monday, MEGADETH said that it was "aware of the recent statements regarding David Ellefson" and indicated that it was "watching developments closely." The band added: "As it relates to creativity and business, we are all familiar with one another.
They have two children, Roman Alexander (25) and Athena Grace (22). 3

MINEFIELD Featuring TODD KERNS Release Lyric Video For "Day By Day"Minefield - featuring Brandon Fields (vocals / guitar), Todd Kerns (vocals / bass), Jeremy Asbrock (vocals / guitar), and Matt Starr (drums) - released their debut album earlier this month. Now, the band has issued a lyric video for the song "Day By Day".
During an exclusive interview with BraveWords scribe Aaron Small, Minefield vocalist / bassist Todd Kerns talked about the lyrical inspiration for "Day By Day" saying, “That was a fun one because Brandon (Fields - guitarist) had this riff, and we needed another song. It was one of those last minute things that you come up with. It has this old, Dressed To Kill-era KISS vibe to it for me. There’s a line in there that mentions a place called Nothing, Arizona – ‘I’m going to the desert they won’t find me anymore, maybe Nothing, Arizona, population four.’ I had seen some film and it had the sign as they were pulling into Nothing, Arizona, and it just said four. If you Google it now, it’s population zero. There’s a whole series of these cities, it’s such a sad story really – seniors living in vans and Winnebagos because they’ve had tragedies and lost their homes. There’s a place up in northeast Nevada called Empire. In January, the mill that was the main industry in that town closed. By June, it no longer had a zip code. Holy cow! It’s weird to imagine towns just being gone. I just came across Nothing, Arizona. The town was so small it was called Nothing; it’s a real place. So much of my life is ‘autobiographical.’ When you look at songs like, ‘It’s Not You It’s Me’, I can tell you pretty much exactly what was going on. Or, ‘Goin’ To Vegas’ is a classic! I was literally going to Vegas. I was going off to the desert and you won’t find me anymore; that’s basically what I did with my life. Unfortunately – or fortunately – trying to disappear in the desert didn’t happen; it was quite the opposite.”
The self-titled set also includes a cover of "All American Man", originally done by KISS, which can be enjoyed below.

MÖTLEY CRÜE: Trailer For Digital Remaster Of 'Girls, Girls, Girls' AlbumIn November 1981, rock 'n' roll legends MÖTLEY CRÜE stormed into the cultural zeitgeist with the release of their debut album "Too Fast For Love", setting the stage for what would become one of the most iconic careers ever in music. This year, the band is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a special series of music re-releases and fan activations, revisiting its globally acclaimed catalog. The first release will be a digital remastering of MÖTLEY CRÜE's smash 1987 album "Girls, Girls, Girls". The groundbreaking body of work features hits "Wild Side", "You're All I Need" and the title track "Girls Girls Girls", which became a global success, despite the original uncensored video being banned by MTV. True to the band's play-by-their-own-rules ideology that has given a safe space for millions of fans all over the world to express themselves freely, the video was named "one of the most NSFW (not safe for work) videos of all time" by Rolling Stone in 2011.
A trailer the upcoming digital remastering of "Girls, Girls, Girls" is available below.
Fans can now pre-order this special remastered digital edition of "Girls, Girls, Girls" album ahead of its release on Friday, June 11, 2021. Further releases to be announced soon.
It was January 17, 1981 when bassist Nikki Sixx first jammed with drummer Tommy Lee and vocalist/guitarist Greg Leon. Leon left, and Mick Mars and Vince Neil were recruited. The rest, as they say, is history…
Nikki recently said about CRÜE's 40th anniversary: "In 'Kickstart My Heart', the lyrics say, 'When we started this band / All we needed, needed was a laugh / Years gone by, I'd say we've kicked some ass.'
"It's always been about great songs and over-the-top live shows for us. The fans were always right by our side. I don't know where all of the years went. It went by in a flash. What I can't forget are the four decades of fans who have counted themselves as Crüeheads from day one, supporting us through thick and thin. To them we are in debt and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
"Happy 40th birthday to us all.”
Neil, Sixx, Mars and Lee are firmly ingrained in the fabric of rock history. MÖTLEY CRÜE has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, achieving seven USA platinum and multi-platinum albums, 22 Top 40 mainstream rock hits, six Top 20 pop singles and three Grammy nominations.
The band has had 1.6 billion streams across digital providers and has over 8 million social media followers. In 2006, the band was inducted into the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
A stunning live act, MÖTLEY CRÜE has taken its incendiary show across the world, selling over 100 million tickets globally.
The band's biography "The Dirt: Confessions Of The World's Most Notorious Rock Band", first published in 2001, became a New York Times best-seller and has sold over one million copies worldwide. In addition, the band members have authored three other New York Times best-sellers.
2019 saw "The Dirt" released as a feature-length biopic. The film became one of the biggest releases of that year and scored a 94% positive audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The band remains a huge global draw. MÖTLEY CRÜE is set to co-headline a nearly sold-out North American stadium tour with DEF LEPPARD, POISON and Joan Jett.
MÖTLEY CRÜE's legacy and influence in the global music scene cannot be underestimated. 2021 is the year to celebrate the achievements of this extraordinary band. 1

ALTER BRIDGE To Record New Album In 2022ALTER BRIDGE guitarist Mark Tremonti has told The Spokesman-Review that the band will reconvene in 2022 to record a new album. "That's the plan," he said. "Myles [Kennedy, ALTER BRIDGE frontman] has his solo album, and I have mine. We'll eventually get together as ALTER BRIDGE. We're looking forward to recording and touring."
Two months ago, Myles told the "Lipps Service With Scott Lipps" podcast that ALTER BRIDGE hasn't started working on material for the follow-up to 2019's "Walk The Sky" album. "We are not yet," he said. "I think everybody's kind of hunkered down in their own solo project. I know Mark Tremonti is in that world right now. Obviously, I've got [my second solo album coming out]. So I would say we'll start thinking about that more towards the end of the year, early next year. Speaking for myself as a writer, I need to refill the creative well. Having done the ALTER BRIDGE record, and then the second solo record, I need to get those creative juices built back up again."
ALTER BRIDGE released a seven-song EP, "Walk The Sky 2.0", last November via Napalm Records. The effort contains live versions of a few of the band's favorites from "Walk The Sky" — "Wouldn't You Rather", "Pay No Mind", "Native Son", "Godspeed", "In The Deep" and "Dying Light" — as well as one new studio track, "Last Rites", which was written, recorded and completed entirely during the COVID-19 lockdown.
"Walk The Sky" came out in October 2019 via Napalm Records.
Myles released his sophomore solo album, "The Ides Of March", on May 14 via Napalm Records

HIRAES Feat. Former DAWN OF DISEASE Members Release "Solitary" Music VideoAfter recently signing with Napalm Records and Napalm Events, German based melodic death metal unit, Hiraes, is set to drop its first sonic monster with ultimate strength: Their debut offering, Solitary, will be released on June 25.
Watch the band's new video, for the album's title track, below. Heavy-driven riffs evoke a dark and explosive melodic death metal storm fueled by a fierce growling attack, dropping jaws and leaving a long-lasting impression.
Hiraes impressively combines the full force of all four instrumentalists formerly of Dawn Of Disease (Lukas Kerk, Oliver Kirchner, Christian Wösten and Mathias Blässe) with the powerful vocals of Britta Görtz (Critical Mess, ex-Cripper) to create an exciting new melodic death emergence.
Hiraes already established its own remarkable identity built upon a smashing femme vocal attack, intense melodies and charging guitars, led by guitarist Lukas Kerk as main songwriter. An atmospheric, instrumental intro introduces the album opener “Shadows Break'', whilst showcasing the impressive vocal onslaught of seasoned frontwoman Britta Görtz shortly after. “Grain Of Sand” sets the next exclamation mark while delivering an unrelenting attack of smashing riffs along with an inexorable vocal performance, followed by standouts such as brutal “1000 Lights”, razor-sharp “Eyes Over Black'' and fast-twitching title-track “Solitary”, proving that Hiraes don’t decelerate for a second.
This massive melodic death metal assault leaves no scope for weakness and serves an exciting take on the genre with hymnlike melodies, enthralling drums and guitar riffing as well as breathtaking hooklines. Topped with the distinctive and versatile performance of Britta Görtz, this powerful new formation and its debut, Solitary, is a must have for fans of bands like Insomnium, At The Gates, Arch Enemy and Amon Amarth.
Hiraes say about the album: “Our debut album Solitary is the result of the collaboration of five musicians who burn with passion for melodic death metal. With its incredible emotional energy, it will captivate fans of the genre in no time. Hymn-like melodies and catchy riffing meet versatile drumming and the very varied growls of our singer Britta. The result is a unique blend of the best that melodic death metal has to offer. Rounded off by stunning sound, refined at Fascination Street Studios under the direction of Jens Bogren, and strong artwork by Costin Chioreanu, we are really more than satisfied with our first album. We can't wait to finally present Solitary to the metal community on June 25, 2021!”

SAMMY HAGAR And CHAD KROEGER Cover STEVE MILLER's 'Fly Like An Eagle' With Afghan GirlsAfter the runaway success of their unique take on the EURYTHMICS' "Sweet Dreams" in 2020, the Miraculous Love Kids / Girl With A Guitar, led by founder Lanny Cordola, have recorded "Fly Like An Eagle" with singers Sammy Hagar (VAN HALEN, THE CIRCLE, CHICKENFOOT) and Chad Kroeger (NICKELBACK). Also featured on the STEVE MILLER classic is bassist Nathan East (Stevie Wonder, Phil Collins, Eric Clapton), keyboardist Rami Jaffee (FOO FIGHTERS, WALLFLOWERS, SOUL ASYLUM), keyboardist Gary Griffin (BRIAN WILSON, THE BEACH BOYS), drummer Kris Myers (UMPHREY'S MCGEE) and guitarist Todd Shea.
In 2020, the Miraculous Love Kids / Girl With A Guitar teamed up with guitarist Tom Morello (RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, AUDIOSLAVE), keyboardist Rami Jaffee (FOO FIGHTERS), bassist Kathy Valentine (THE GO-GO'S), guitarist Vicki Peterson (THE BANGLES), singer Cherie Currie (THE RUNAWAYS), guitarist Wayne Kramer (MC5), drummer Kris Myers (UMPHREY'S MCGEE), along with singer Inara George and multi-instrumentalist Greg Kurstin of THE BIRD AND THE BEE, to record a version of "Sweet Dreams" with unprecedented depth and dimension.
For 2021, Cordola connected with Hagar, a force of pure rock and roll goodness. On this sonic prayer for a more compassionate humanity, the singer's role in getting the message of the Miraculous Love Kids / Girl With A Guitar movement to the forefront of global awareness is a win-win for everyone.
"I'm proud of what you're doing," the onetime VAN HALEN frontman told the group after completing his vocal track. "Stay strong and fly like an eagle…"
Cordola reflects on why this song was chosen: "The simple yet powerful message behind 'Fly Like An Eagle' has never been more relevant and important, especially in war-torn, poverty-stricken places like Afghanistan. With its urgent call to 'feed the babies who have no food to eat, shoe the children with no shoes on their feet, house the people living in the street,' the eagle surveys the landscape and realizes that none of us can truly be free until we address the most pressing matters of the human condition — food, clothing, and shelter."
The girls featured in this video have all suffered from the wreckage of poverty, war, discrimination and other hardships. They have worked the mean streets of Kabul and witnessed firsthand the debris of human cruelty and indifference. Now, through the power of love and music, there is hope, joy and truth emanating from every fiber of their being.
"Fly Like An Eagle" is dedicated to the nearly 100 Afghan girls who died in a recent school bomb attack in Kabul.
Music at its highest level gives rise to these fundamental human creeds and to the philosophy of the Miraculous Love Kids: "It shouldn't hurt to be a child."
According to the United Nations, over 20,000 children perish every day because of poverty and war. The goal of the Miraculous Love Kids / Girl With A Guitar is to help end this horrible human catastrophe.
The Miraculous Love Kids is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization established by Cordola.

Cordola began his journey through Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq in 2010, collaborating with musicians on a peace-through-music project. "After visiting and meeting many kids who were living in poverty stricken areas and conflict zones, I decided to raise funds on their behalf," the musician recalls.
Since then, he has focused on musical projects aimed at raising awareness, resources and funds for some of the most vulnerable children in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq. In the wake of his work in these regions, he formed his own non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization called The Miraculous Love Kids, based on the premise that "it shouldn't hurt to be a child" and "that a kid with a melody in their heart has hope, and with hope all things are possible."
On September 8, 2012, sisters Parwana and Korshid were killed by a suicide bomber in Kabul, Afghanistan. The intended target was U.S. military forces. According to the troops who were there, the sisters sacrificed their own lives to save them.
During a visit to the region in 2014, Lanny met with the sisters' family, including their younger sibling Mursal, who had survived the attack. The family was living in absolute squalor, but when Mursal saw the guitar that constantly accompanies Lanny, she brightened up and asked if he would teach her to play so she could honor her sisters and other girls living in similar conditions. And with that, The Miraculous Love Kids/Girl With A Guitar was born.
In February 2016, Lanny moved to Kabul, Afghanistan, where he and Mursal presently teach guitar, English, and other life skills to hundreds of mostly girls at their Miraculous Love Kids studio. 1

FOREIGNER's THOM GIMBEL Officially Leaves Band After Nearly Three Decades: 'It's Time For Me To Finally Stop Touring'FOREIGNER multi-instrumentalist Thom Gimbel has officially announced his departure from the legendary rock act.
Earlier today, Gimbel released the following statement: "Today I'd like to share with everyone that after almost 30 years with FOREIGNER, I've decided it's time for me to finally stop touring, and try to settle myself down.
"I'm deeply, eternally grateful to Mick, Lou and Kelly, and the entire, incredible FOREIGNER family, years past and present.
"My sincerest thanks to everyone involved, especially our fans, for rocking with us throughout the years! I will miss you. But, I hope to see ya out there someday, somewhere. Perhaps at a fundraising golf tournament, or at a FOREIGNER concert, where hopefully I will occasionally be there to rock out with the band, which now includes our old friend, a phenomenal talent, Luis Carlos Maldonado. He has joined the FOREIGNER family, and it is sounding amazing!
"Live concerts have started again. Mick, Kelly & FOREIGNER are rocking heavily, as always. I hope you get a chance to check them out and enjoy FOREIGNER's awesome, timeless music.
"Deepest, heartfelt gratitude and love, Tom Gimbel".
Gimbel is known as FOREIGNER's jack-of-all-trades guitarist, saxophonist, flutist and keyboardist. He initially joined the group in 1992 but left to tour with AEROSMITH before returning to FOREIGNER in 1995.
Gimbel's plan to exit FOREIGNER was first revealed by his bandmate, FOREIGNER bassist Jeff Pilson, in a March 2021 interview with Rocking With Jam Man.
Speaking about the fact that FOREIGNER occasionally plays shows without any original member members — including founding guitarist Mick Jones — Pilson said: "It is really all about the music, and especially with FOREIGNER. FOREIGNER was never any kind of an image band at all, and that's actually worked to our advantage now in these later years where can tour — and we can tour without Mick — because the music is so strong that it is more about the music than it is about the personnel. And I think that's kind of cool."
Asked if Gimbel is now the longest-serving member of FOREIGNER, Pilson said: "Besides Mick Jones, yes. [But] Mick doesn't do all shows with us. So when [Mick's] not playing, Thom is [the longest-serviving member]. However, Thom is actually gonna be leaving the band. He's had some experiences. I mean, he's ready to get off the road at some point. So, maybe then I'll be the longest-serving member."
FOREIGNER's current lineup is rounded out by Michael Bluestein (keyboards), Chris Frazier (drums) and Bruce Watson (guitar).
Pilson — one-fourth of the classic DOKKEN lineup — joined FOREIGNER in 2004.
Today I’d like to share with everyone that after almost 30 years with Foreigner, I’ve decided it’s time for me to...
