MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, Ex-MACHINE HEAD Members Team Up For Cover Of BLACK SABBATH's Falling Off The Edge Of The World' (Video)

MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, Ex-MACHINE HEAD Members Team Up For Cover Of BLACK SABBATH's Falling Off The Edge Of The World' (Video)

Former MACHINE HEAD guitarist Phil Demmel has teamed up with TESTAMENT bassist Steve DiGiorgio, MEGADETH drummer Dirk Verbeuren, ANIMAL DRIVE/DIRTY SHIRLEY singer Dino Jelusić and BLEEDING THROUGH keyboardist Marta Demmel to record a "quarantine" cover version of the Ronnie James Dio-era BLACK SABBATH classic "Falling Off The Edge Of The World" as part of Phil's new series "Collab-A-Jam".

Phil uploaded the video to his YouTube channel, writing in an accompanying message: "As the anniversary of Ronnie's passing was getting close, I reached out to Dino Jelusić to see if he'd be into singing on this tune. I saw him sing with TSO a few years back and thought he was awesome, but watching a vid of him cover the BADLANDS song 'The Last Time' blew me the fuck away. A SABBATH/Dio cover needs to [be] nailed. It had to be him. I next hit up my Bay-Area Brother, Steve Di Giorgio to do the Geezer [Butler] parts. We'd known each for about 35 years but never jammed together. I thought he'd be perfect.

"The intro is pretty layered. Steve had suggested we get real strings and brought in Julie Belanger Roy, she then layed down both a viola and violin track. My wife Marta found a keyboard patch that sounds sooooo close to the original and they NAIL it, all the way to the descending slide. I asked Steve about drummers and he mentioned he knew Dirk Verbeuren of SOILWORK/MEGADETH and could reach out. I had just watched Dirk play with Devin Townsend on the 70K Tons cruise and loved watching him play. A world-class drummer.

"Sounds like SDG put this line-up together? He pretty much did. Juan Urteaga got a slamming mix together and Scott Kirkeeng played around with the RotoScope effect you see on the vid.

"So much appreciation and thanks to all the above for the effort. This is done for fun and for the love of music, and this song was done in tribute of a man we ALL admire and carry the torch for. RJD RIP"

SONS OF SILVER Feat. Former And Current Members Of PEARL JAM, CANDLEBOX And SKILLET: 'Doomsday Noises' EP Detailed

SONS OF SILVER Feat. Former And Current Members Of PEARL JAM, CANDLEBOX And SKILLET: 'Doomsday Noises' EP Detailed

Los Angeles alternative rock group SONS OF SILVER has set a June 26 release date for the "Doomsday Noises" EP. The group previewed the EP's release with two singles and videos: "Read 'Em Their Rights", with its simmering and swaggering punch, and the infectiously incendiary "World On Fire". While the EP's title is timely, vocalist Peter Argyropoulos says: "All of these songs, including all of the lyrics, were written and recorded a few months before the COVID-19 pandemic."

"There's a lot of 'shouting' going on in the world at the moment, a lot of bullying, a lot of pontificating," Argyropoulos continues in describing how they came to the "Doomsday Noises" title. "The noise is deafening. These are the sounds of societal transformation. But they can easily be misinterpreted as social collapse. We probably should've put a question mark at the end of the phrase."

The group's collaborative songwriting style, signature sound and collective years of experience is what make SONS OF SILVER such a standout phenom in the indie alt scene. In addition to Argyropoulos, original PEARL JAM drummer Dave Krusen (who was recently inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame) and CANDLEBOX bassist Adam Kury provide the backbeat while former SKILLET guitarist Kevin Haaland and keyboardist and esteemed engineer Brina Kabler round out the band's signature sound. Logging nearly 80 shows per year, the musicians collaborated more than ever back in the studio. On "Doomsday Noises", songs spun off from jam sessions as a unit and the writing process relied on their musical interplay.

"We all love hanging out together," Argyropoulos explains. "We probably spend more time talking politics, sports, food, family or whatever than we do making music. All those interests, all of those conversations, they make their way into the music. The songs are a snapshot in time of whatever happened to be on our minds. There's some comedy and some tragedy; some dissonance and some harmony; some nostalgia and some abandonment; some punk and some rock. Even more, the fact that we can talk about anything and everything translates into a very comfortable and supportive musical environment. Everyone feels free with any idea and no one feels any idea is sacred. We're all good enough to lead the band., but none of us is good enough to be the band. We allow space and time for one another to find our way. The EP represents where each of us was at along our journey together."

"Doomsday Noises" track listing:

01. Rude Awakenings

02. Outbreak

03. Deep Division

04. Read 'Em Their Rights

05. World On Fire

Listen To New AVATAR Song 'God Of Sick Dreams'

Listen To New AVATAR Song 'God Of Sick Dreams'

Swedish metallers AVATAR have released a new song called "God Of Sick Dreams", which serves as the second single from their eighth full-length, "Hunter Gatherer", due out August 7 via Entertainment One (eOne).

From the very first riff of the explosive lead single "Silence In The Age Of Apes", listeners will find a darker, futuristic, and entirely new version of AVATAR. Their bold manifesto, "Hunter Gatherer", is an unflinchingly ruthless study of a clueless humankind’s ever-increasing velocity into an uncertain future, furthering the reach of the band’s always expanding dark roots. The forthcoming album is the darkest, most sinister version of the band yet, with deep studies of cruelty, technology, disdain, and deprivation.

In 2019, AVATAR reunited with producer Jay Ruston (STONE SOUR, SLIPKNOT, ANTHRAX) at Sphere Studios in Los Angeles, California, where the foundation for each song on "Hunter Gatherer" was laid with the band performing altogether, as they'd done only once before, on "Hail The Apocalypse" (2014). The old-school method of playing as one in the studio, more akin to how they are on stage, captured the essence of AVATAR. Recorded entirely to two-inch tape, "Hunter Gatherer" exhibits everything that makes AVATAR standouts in the vast, rich landscape of heavy metal's past and present.

Track listing:

01. Silence In The Age Of Apes

02. Colossus

03. A Secret Door

04. God Of Sick Dreams

05. Scream Until You Wake

06. Child

07. Justice

08. Gun

09. When All But Force Has Failed

10. Wormhole

Late last year, AVATAR singer Johannes Eckerström told Loudwire about the lyrical themes covered on the upcoming album: "I'm trying to put across certain emotions that maybe, myself as a lyricist, maybe I wasn’t comfortable with in the past. Saying there’s something wrong over there is different than turning a finger and pointing it at yourself. It takes some maturity to start to do that and maybe revisit places I was at in the past and shine a more honest light upon it. It's full of those things that I have never done before, we have never done before, and thus it's completely different again."

He added: "There is no joking around with this, and it pulls us back into reality. It deals more with darkness, sadness, detachment, alienation and the anxiety of thinking of the world at large. It's all these things that don't necessarily fit into the 'let's write this love letter to heavy metal and share our inside joke that we call Jonas The King.'"

AVATAR's live album, "The King Live In Paris" , was released in May 2019 via eOne. The 11-track set was recorded at the 2018 Download Festival in Paris, France.

The group's most recent studio album, "Avatar Country" , came out in January 2018.

Last fall, AVATAR completed a North American tour as the support act for BABYMETAL.

EVANESCENCE's AMY LEE And TROY MCLAWHORN Cover BANANARAMA's 'Cruel Summer' (Video)

EVANESCENCE's AMY LEE And TROY MCLAWHORN Cover BANANARAMA's 'Cruel Summer' (Video)

EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee and guitarist Troy McLawhorn recently performed a cover version of BANANARAMA's "Cruel Summer" for Germany's MagentaMusik 360. Video footage of their rendition can now be seen below.

EVANESCENCE's long-awaited new album, "The Bitter Truth", will arrive later this year. The disc's first single, "Wasted On You", came out last month and is the first in a series of songs that the band will make available from "The Bitter Truth" incrementally, culminating in the release of the full album.

The video for "Wasted On You" was shot by each band member — Lee, bassist Tim McCord, drummer Will Hunt, McLawhorn and guitarist Jen Majura — on their iPhones while currently in isolation at their homes.

In an interview with Music Week, Lee said that a handful of new EVANESCENCE songs are completed and mixed, and while they're "all different," she added, "I think so far the one thing that ties them together is it's going to a place that's even more raw."

Lee also told Music Week that EVANESCENCE wanted to get "back to rocking" following 2017's "Synthesis", an album that featured orchestral and electronic reworkings of old material plus two new tracks.

She explained: "I don't want to say our new album is stripped back, because it's not — it's big, powerful and luscious. But we haven't done any orchestra parts on any of the new songs, and that's not because we couldn't get together with one because of the pandemic."

BAD WOLVES Frontman Says His 'Black Lives Matter' Post Was 'Widely Misunderstood' As His Beliefs And Opinion

BAD WOLVES Frontman Says His 'Black Lives Matter' Post Was 'Widely Misunderstood' As His Beliefs And Opinion

BAD WOLVES frontman Tommy Vext says that the diagram he shared on the current state of the "Black Lives Matter" movement has been has been widely misunderstood as his beliefs and opinion.

On Monday, Vext posted a six-plus-minute video on Instagram in which he suggested, without evidence, that "Black Lives Matter" was created by people like George Soros, the Holocaust survivor and billionaire who is the subject of many right-wing conspiracy theories, along with the Clinton Foundation. He also offered up the debunked theory that they invest in "Black Lives Matter" to profit from media coverage. Vext also asserted that racism in the United States is "manufactured." The singer said he made the video "after weeks of research & interviews with independent journalist(s), military personnel, entertainment industry professionals, a virologist & many ex Democrats."

On Thursday morning, Vext once again took to his Instagram to clarify his earlier post and to slam "certain media outlets" for allegedly "misquoting" and "misrepresenting" his "inquiries as opinion."

He wrote: "Conspiracy Theory by definition is 'an idea that some covert but influential organization is responsible for a circumstance or event'

"On Monday I shared a diagram of a theoretical scenario that was explained to me which has been widely misunderstood as my beliefs and opinion.

As per usual people failed to read the disclaimer that 'I am in no way a political scientist or sociologist and have no authority on the subject. And that I am not claiming anything I expressed as truth.'

"Predictably certain media outlets misquoted and misrepresented my inquiries as opinions and lambasted me to serve their own purposes making the video go viral.

"Much like Drew Breeze [sic] I never imagined offending anyone one as I stated the disclaimer 'I'm not a professional I just found this on the internet isn't it interesting'"

The singer, who previously floated another conspiracy theory, that official coronavirus death toll numbers are padded with people who would have died anyway from preexisting conditions, continued: "After several conversations with fellow artist/ thought leaders in the African American community I can see the insensitive timing of sharing such theories. And As I DID STATE in the video systemic racism IS indeed a very real pandemic that effects the judicial, economic, healthcare, housing & education systems in underserved black communities. However my personal experience of White Americans and 'white culture' over the past 20 years has not been one of hateful bigotry but unilateral acceptance. Maybe thats just 'Heavy Metal Privilege' as our music community has a long history of condemning racism & fascism.

"I know It has been very hard time for everyone in this country. I spent my own time with thousands of volunteers cleaning up after the riots. We all can see across the globe that things are wrong but we are all struggling to make sense of it. It's probably time to turn our attention to our families, our friends and communities so we can rebuild ourselves and get back on with our normal lives again.

"Love you all and can't wait to see you when concerts start up again and may God Bless you and keep you till then"

BAD WOLVES is currently sitting at No. 2 on the rock radio chart with "Sober", from the band's second album, "N.A.T.I.O.N.", which arrived last October.

BAD WOLVES Singer Embraces Conspiracy Theories About 'Black Lives Matter', Says Racism In U.S. Is 'Manufactured'

BAD WOLVES frontman Tommy Vext has shared his views on the current state of the "Black Lives Matter" movement and what he believes is actually happening behind the scenes, along with his thoughts on racism and whether it exists.

In a six-plus-minute video posted on Instagram, Vext suggests that "Black Lives Matter" was created by people like George Soros, the Holocaust survivor and billionaire who is the subject of many right-wing conspiracy theories, along with the Clinton Foundation. He maintains that they invest in "Black Lives Matter" to profit from media coverage.

"You have Antifa who is paid for by George Soros," Vext says in the clip, referring to loosely affiliated, left-leaning anti-racist groups that have been involved in some violent clashes in recent years. The movement has no unified structure or national leadership. "These are highly trained, professional rioters and escalators. So they move in and disperse throughout all the different riots, right? And then the Clinton Foundation pumps money into promoting this stuff on social media."

He continues: "The same people who instigate the event, organize the protest and escalate the protest make money off the African-American community's outrage and further deplete the morality of the United States."

Vext also asserts that racism in the United States is "manufactured."

"We have turned into this — citizens policing other citizens over a veil of racism that doesn't exist," Vext says. "I'm African American … I've grown up in this country and I have not experienced actual racism. I've spent 20 years traveling through 48 states and … 50 countries all over the world. We don't have a problem with race here. It's all manufactured."

Vext said he made the video "after weeks of research & interviews with independent journalist(s), military personnel, entertainment industry professionals, a virologist & many ex Democrats." He added in a written message accompanying the clip, "I beg everyone who watches this to do there (sic) own research and come to their own conclusions on this issue. I could very well be wrong."

BAD WOLVES is currently sitting at No. 2 on the rock radio chart with "Sober", from the band's second album, "N.A.T.I.O.N.", which arrived last October.

Watch METALLICA Battle Torrential Rain In Manchester

Watch METALLICA Battle Torrential Rain In Manchester

METALLICA has posted another video as part of its new concert series, "#MetallicaMondays", where the band is streaming a complete live show for fans on the group's YouTube channel and on Facebook every week. The latest concert to be shared was recorded on June 18, 2019 at at Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England. The evening saw the metal icons battling what has been described as "typical Manchester" weather conditions — playing in a relentless downpour that hit the outdoor stadium.

The band said in a statement, "While we're all doing our part and staying home, we find ourselves missing live music, so how about we dive back into a few of our favorite shows at a socially responsible distance?"

METALLICA has been largely out of the public eye since last fall when the band canceled an Australian tour and announced that frontman James Hetfield was returning to rehab for the first time since 2002 to battle his addictions.

Hetfield made his first major public appearance since entering rehab on January 30, when an exhibit featuring 10 of his classic custom cars opened at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

In March, METALLICA announced that its South American tour, which was originally planned for April, has been postponed until December. In addition, the band's appearances at four Danny Wimmer Presents-produced festivals in May and September have been canceled: Epicenter in Charlotte, Welcome To Rockville in Daytona, Sonic Temple in Columbus and Louder Than Life in Louisville.

Guitarist Kirk Hammett told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago that METALLICA has to be in better than average shape to play its music live. "There's a physicality to our music that we cannot ignore, so we just kind of have to keep ourselves in a certain sort of physical sort of state where that we can't let ourselves get to a point where we can't play these songs," he said. "That's just not allowed. When we write this music, we have to make sure that we can play it and play it when we need to play it."

ALICE COOPER: 'We All Can't Wait To Get Back On Tour'

ALICE COOPER: 'We All Can't Wait To Get Back On Tour'

Legendary rocker Alice Cooper spoke to Finland's Kaaos TV about how he is dealing with the coronavirus crisis and what the touring circuit might look like post-pandemic.

"I think what they're saying now is at the beginning of 2021, they're gonna have a vaccine for everybody," Alice said. "But I think that when this coronavirus runs its course — 'cause it will; it will finally die out — I can't imagine why people would not go back to what they used to do, [which is] go to concerts. Because the monster's gone. Why worry about him now? He's gone. So everything should go back to what it was. But I still think it's probably a good idea to get a vaccination for it.

"The good thing about rock tours is that everybody is off right now, and everybody is gonna go back on tour," he added. "I mean, there's nobody sitting there going, 'Oh, I'm never gonna tour again.' We all can't wait to get back on tour. We're like racehorses ready to run."

Last month, Alice released a new single, "Don't Give Up". Produced by Cooper's longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin using remote technology, the song is a spontaneous reaction to the challenges facing us all right now.

A strictly limited "Don't Give Up" seven-inch vinyl picture disc will be released on August 14 on earMUSIC.

Cooper recently completed work on his new album, "Detroit Stories". The LP, which was once again produced by Ezrin, features contributions by such Michigan talent as the MC5's Wayne Kramer, GRAND FUNK RAILROAD's Mark Farner and Johnny "Bee" Badanjek of MITCH RYDER & THE DETROIT WHEELS. They also used the Detroit Horns and Detroit background singers.

Last September, Cooper released a six-track EP called "Breadcrumbs", described as a tribute to the garage-rock heroes of his hometown of Detroit.

Former WHITESNAKE Guitarist MICKY MOODY To Release New ALI MAAS & MICKY MOODY Album 'Who's Directing Your Movie?'

Former WHITESNAKE Guitarist MICKY MOODY To Release New ALI MAAS & MICKY MOODY Album 'Who's Directing Your Movie?'

Ali Maas and Micky Moody have announced the release of their second album, "Who's Directing Your Movie?", due out July 31 on Last Man Music.

Known between them for their work in bands such as WHITESNAKE, JUICY LUCY and MCQUEEN, the husband-and-wife duo's new LP is the follow-up to the acclaimed debut "Black And Chrome", released in 2016.

The pair set out with a defined mission statement to encapsulate the personal and wider feelings they wanted to share on the record.

Written and recorded throughout 2018 and 2019, "Who's Directing Your Movie?" is a journey through genre and style, yet tied together by the core inspirations of classic storyteller songwriting such as Bob Dylan and Richard Thompson; and ultimately the crafting of a unique voice in unison from this. The stylistic shifts in the album, which touches upon everything from bluegrass, folk, Americana, and classic rock, are inspired by artists such as Robert Plant's ability of reinvention.

"We wanted to create a record which could be a commentary on our own personal journey and also ask a few questions about what is going on in the world," Maas and Moody say. "It is a nod to both of our pasts, but also looks forward to a new path."

Opening track and lead single "These Times" is a defiant and ever-more-so-pointed protest song that is as scathing as it is a rally to the heart, while lighter moments of hope also peek through in songs such as the meditative "A Sunset And A Dram".

The duo's erudite ability to weave sometimes heavy lyrical messages to captivating accompaniment and swampy rhythms is evident in the gothic slides on "All The Bastards In The World" and the Bo Diddley-influenced "Where Does It Leave Me?", written with Alan Glen (NINE BELOW ZERO, YARDBIRDS). Yet amongst the defiance and the scathing critiques of the world's ills, ultimately "Who's Directing Your Movie?" concludes with messages of hope and endeavor.

On penultimate track "Crazy Leap Of Faith", Ali and Micky say: "This song is about taking a chance and leaping in out of your depth. There is freedom to be had out there. Sometimes it's scary but it's got to be done. And we sing this one together, because it's kind of about us… Whilst on the final track of the album, these leaps are shown to be acts of responsibility to ourselves: Many of the great old blues songs carry a message about lessons learned in life and we wanted to pay homage to that tradition. It talks about owning your decisions and accepting responsibility for your own actions instead of laying the blame at someone else's door. It ends with the title of the album 'Who's Directing Your Movie?' The implied answer is 'You are!' Get out there and live…but live well.'"

"Who's Directing Your Movie?" track listing:

01. These Times

02. Get A Mind (And Change It)

03. Destination Heartache

04. All The Bastards In The World

05. A Sunset And A Dram

06. The Walk Of Shame

FALCONER Streaming New Single "Kings And Queens"

FALCONER Streaming New Single "Kings And Queens"

On June 26, Sweden's Falconer will release their new album, From A Dying Ember, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of From A Dying Ember, the new single, “Kings And Queens”, can be heard below. Find preorders here.

The record is available for the following formats:

- jewelcase-CD
- ltd. digipak CD (incl. 3 bonus tracks - EU exclusive)
- 180g black vinyl (EU exclusive)
- turquoise green marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 200 copies)
- orange white marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 100 copies)
- light grey marbled vinyl (US exclusive - limited to 300 copies)

Falconer was born out of the ashes of Mithotyn, who split-up in 1999. After disbanding, one of Mithotyn's founding members - Stefan Weinerhall (guitar) - had a demo for a solo project, which eventually led to the creation of the folk power metal group Falconer.

From the beginning, the band planned not to perform often live (their final tour date was at ProgPower USA in Atlanta, GA in 2015). After retiring from the stage five years ago, the band took some time off before writing a new album. Stefan decided not to rush the writing process, just to make sure the written material would be of the utmost quality. Some of the earlier material was scrapped and re-written halfway into the process; additionally, Stefan re-wrote one song with his old Mithotyn bandmate, Karl Beckmann (guitars/keyboards). The echoes from Mithotyn are surely noticeable on the track "Rapture".

Stefan comments: "Finally, we got the chance to incorporate some keyed fiddle and bagpipe into the music - something that has always been a wish from us, just to get that extra medieval and folky feel to it. In that time, we also wrote the most intense ballad ever, which turned out to be 'Rejoice The Adorned' - only featuring piano, keys and strings."

Mixed and mastered by Andy LaRocque, From A Dying Ember was also recorded at LaRocque's Sonic Train Studio. Stefan concludes: "To sum the album up, we can say that From A Dying Ember has some things that really stand out from a usual Falconer album. A lot of things happening and more elements to the music than ever before!"

Tracklisting:

“Kings And Queens”
“Desert Dreams”
“Redeem And Repent”
“Bland Sump Och Dy”
“Fool’s Crusade”
“Garnets And A Gilded Rose”
“In Regal Attire”
“Rejoice The Adorned”

“Thrust The Dagger Deep”
“Rapture”

HATE Announce New Drummer DANIEL "NAR-SIL" RUTKOWSKI; Playthrough Video Streaming

HATE Announce New Drummer DANIEL "NAR-SIL" RUTKOWSKI; Playthrough Video Streaming

After six years, three albums, and countless shows on almost every continent, Hate's drummer Paweł "Pavulon" Jaroszewicz has decided to leave the band to focus on new projects.

Pavulon states: "The last 2 years were pretty difficult for me because of a relentless work schedule in all the bands and projects I worked with, resulting in constant exhaustion and eventually health problems, mainly with my wrists from all the abuse and imperfect technique. Late last year, I started rebuilding my playing from scratch and also paying more attention to my health and work ethics. I chose to take a break from my usual work routine and use the time to get back on track in the future with a brand new approach. With this in mind, I decided it would interfere with Hate's activity, and the last thing I want are my personal issues to affect others' hard work. Therefore, I decided to let go and allow my good friend Daniel to step in and carry on the legacy. He's an amazing young drummer, and I'm sure you'll be amazed by what he will bring to the band's sound and performance. I would like to thank Hate for all the years we shared for better and worse. It was definitely an important part of my life, and I will always be thankful for this journey."

Hate adds: "We would like to wish Pavulon all the best in his projects to come and thank him for his contributions to the band. With that said, we welcome the talented Daniel 'Nar-Sil' Rutkowski to the band. Nar-Sil has already sat behind the drums for Hate during the Europe Under Black Death Metal Tour Vol II and worked with many big names in the Polish metal scene such as Virgin Snatch, Neolith, Embrional, and Dira Mortis."

Nar-Sil comments: "I'm super excited about joining Hate and the new material we are hard at work on! Things have been moving quickly, but the flow is excellent, and in time, I'm sure the fruit of our labour will be powerful and monstrous Extreme Metal. I'm looking forward to showcasing what we've been working on, and of course, seeing you all on the road!"

Hate plan to return to the stage soon! In the meantime, fans can watch a new drum play-through by Daniel "Nar-Sil" Rutkowski, made in cooperation with Drummers From Hell:

TALES OF THE TOMB Announce New Bassist JONNII GUNS; "Sinful Messiah" Playthrough Video Posted

TALES OF THE TOMB Announce New Bassist JONNII GUNS; "Sinful Messiah" Playthrough Video Posted

Edmonton death metal duo Tales of The Tomb have been a two-man wrecking crew for a while now, but today, the band is happy to share the news that they will commence as a trio with the addition of new bassist Jonnii Guns. In addition to him joining, the band is sharing his bass playthrough for the track 'Sinful Messiah' off of their latest EP “Volume Two: Mendicium” unleashed this past September. Check out the bass playthrough below.

Bassist Jonnii Guns comments:

"I'm excited to start working with the boys in Tales of The Tomb and moving into the next stage of my music career! I’m originally from the UK and moved to Canada nearly three years back. Previously I worked mostly with heavy metal, hardcore, and metalcore bands doing some touring and session work with the likes of The Hero Dies First, Faces of Eve, and years and years ago I helped out a little with L.A. Guns from... well LA! It was an awesome time playing with those bands and I have to say I wouldn’t be the musician I am without all the experiences I had with them! When first listening to Tales of The Tomb, I was unsure about the music having never played this kind of metal in the past, but after being sent the tabs and playing with the music, I really enjoyed it and the challenge of playing something new. Plus, I’m into alien conspiracy stuff, so I was super stoked when I heard all the different content with a darker theme! It makes it far more interesting! I’m really excited to be working with the lads on new material and incorporating my sound into the new EP and content we have planned."

Painting their canvas of extreme music with inspirations of real-life stories of murder, conspiracy, supernatural horror, and terror, Tales Of The Tomb's new EP Volume Two: Mendicium is a vicious bite of grinding blast beats, technical shredding accompanied by venomous guttural lows. Inspired by true events, the duo offer up gore-filled lyrics with a quivering soundscape. The EP was mixed and mastered by Cryptopsy guitarist and head engineer/owner at The Grid Studios Christian Donaldson along with featuring artwork by Tony Midi of Tonymidi Artworks.

SEPULTURA Performs Lockdown Playthrough Of “Mindwar”

SEPULTURA Performs Lockdown Playthrough Of “Mindwar”

Sepultura is back with another SepulQuarta session; this time with a playthrough of the track “Mindwar”, taken from their 2004 record Roorback.

Andreas Kisser about the idea of the SepulQuarta sessions, earlier:

"SepulQuarta was born out of the necessity to express ourselves in a different way since we’re all facing a new situation. We came with this idea still influenced by the concept of our last album 'Quadra', using geometry, numerology and numbers. Wednesday, which is the fourth day of the week, was chosen for an event."

LET US PREY Release “The Saint Of Killers” Lyric Video Featuring Late ALL THAT REMAINS Guitarist OLI HERBERT

LET US PREY Release “The Saint Of Killers” Lyric Video Featuring Late ALL THAT REMAINS Guitarist OLI HERBERT

Virtues Of The Vicious, the forthcoming full-length debut by the Boston-based dark, melodic power/thrash group Let Us Prey, features guest guitar solos by a number of notable shredders, including Jon Donais (Anthrax, Shadows Fall), Metal Mike Chlasciak (Halford, Testament), Jimi Bell (Autograph, House of Lords) and the late Oli “The Wizard” Herbert (All That Remains).

Herbert's contribution to the album – due July 24 via M-Theory Audio – appears on the track “The Saint Of Killers,” which is now available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp and other digital platforms. A lyric video for the song – which Lopes says is based on the DC Comics series “Preacher” and films such as “The Terminator” and “Blade Runner,” and which sees Let Us Prey guitarist Jesse Near, a former student of Herbert's, performing the solo – can be seen below.

Says Lopes, “This tune is extremely special to me for the simple fact of getting to work with brother Oli Herbert, and now – especially after the misfortune of his passing – it stands as our tribute to his memory. Our mutual love for comics, movies and metal is how we became good friends in the first place after a chance meeting at a show I was playing with a metal cover band I was in. Oli was all about jamming a shredding solo for us, as we wanted to work together and this song seemed perfect.”

Pre-orders for Virtues Of The Vicious on CD and limited-edition blood red vinyl are available here, and here (including bundle options). Digital pre-orders include instant downloads of "The Saint Of Killers" plus both “Halo Crown” and the album’s opening track, “Above The Vaulted Sky.” The tracks can now be streamed on Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp and other digital platforms.

Led by Lopes (who designed the album’s cover art and music videos) and guitarist Jon Morency, Let Us Prey incorporates numerous subgenres of metal into their style while still sounding organic. The group's adventurous music sees elements of thrash, death, power and progressive metal meld seamlessly with industrial samples and symphonic keyboards. The drumming is surgically precise and blisteringly fast without sounding mechanical; the guitars mix crushing, down-tuned brutality with dense harmonies and ripping leads; and Lopes shifts effortlessly from thrash/death metal growls to soaring melodic vocals and searing Halford-esque highs with layered harmonies.

Virtues Of The Vicious - the follow-up to Let Us Prey's 2016 EP, The Saint Of Killers - was recorded by Nick Bellmore (Hatebreed, Toxic Holocaust, Five Finger Death Punch) and Pete Rutcho (Revocation, Havok, Bury Your Dead), with the latter also handling mix and mastering. In addition to Donais, the album also includes a number of notable guest musicians, including “Metal” Mike Chlasciak (Halford), Jimi Bell (House Of Lords/Autograph) and the late Oli Herbert (All That Remains).

SOMNIATE Signs To Lavadome; New Album Details Revealed

SOMNIATE Signs To Lavadome; New Album Details Revealed

Czech black metal revelation Somniate has inked a deal with Lavadome Productions for the release of its debut album The Meyrinkian Slumber.

The Meyrinkian Slumber is scheduled for June 30 release through Lavadome Productions on CD/LP/digital and can be preordered on Bandcamp. The tape edition will be handled by Cloven Hoof.

The inspiration and the concept for the album comes from the novel, The Golem, written by Gustav Meyrink between 1907 and 1914. The album's five tracks represent a sophisticated black metal flight above the esoteric plot of the writer´s masterpiece. A tale of searching for the ascension through identity shifts, alchemical concepts and suffering, all set in a distorted vision of Prague.

Mixed and mastered at the infamous BST Studio (Aosoth, The Order of Apollyon, Totalitarian).

The iconography of the album's coverart was crafted by View From The Coffin:

Tracklisting:

“The Sleepless Stone”
“Rephaim”
“In Bone Incorruptible”
“A Penitentiary Triptych”
“Of Fragrance And Light”

RATT's STEPHEN PEARCY On New Solo Single 'All That I Want': 'It Just Felt Right For The Times'

RATT's STEPHEN PEARCY On New Solo Single 'All That I Want': 'It Just Felt Right For The Times'

RATT singer Stephen Pearcy spoke to Marci Wiser of the 95.5 KLOS radio station about his recently released solo single, "All That I Want".

"I didn't know where that song was gonna end up — a RATT song or solo — so I decided it's just gonna be put out there," he said (hear audio below).

Asked if the track will appear on a full-length album at some point in the future, Pearcy said: "No. It's just a song. That's all I do is write with Erik Ferentinos, a co-writer friend of mine, been in my band forever, solo band. And it's all good. We just write and if we feel it fits to be heard, we put it out."

As for the lyrical inspiration for "All That I Want", Pearcy said: "It's a relationship song, and it just felt right for the times. Everybody's locked up, and what's really important to you? Your partner — somebody close to you, somebody to dig, love."

This past March, Pearcy released another new solo song called "Making Crazy".

Pearcy's fifth solo LP, "View To A Thrill", came out in November 2018 via Frontiers Music Srl. The follow-up to 2017's "Smash" was produced by Matt Thorne and Pearcy and was mixed and mastered by Thorne and Ferentinos.

Speaking about the songwriting process for his solo material, Pearcy told Music Existence: "RATT's music is its own entity and animal, and it has its own schematics. With my solo stuff, I tend to do whatever I like — an acoustic song, a really heavy song — and go places and talk about things that I want to. It's my freedom of speech. That's one thing I like about it, and I'm always writing, so what else can I do, you know? Just try to get it out and get it heard! I don't care if it sells ten million or nil million; it's just what I do. You do the best that you can."

Pearcy and bassist Juan Croucier are the sole remaining original members in RATT's current lineup, which made its live debut in July 2018 in Mulvane, Kansas. Joining them in the band are drummer Pete Holmes (BLACK 'N BLUE, RATT'S JUAN CROUCIER) and guitarist Jordan Ziff (RAZER).

Pearcy told Sleaze Roxx that Erik was briefly considered for a position in RATT before Ziff and now-former RATT guitarist Chris Sanders (BRITNY FOX, KNIGHT FURY) came along. "He's literally been in my band for years, in my solo band," he said. "He's a big part of my life, my solo records, the mixing, the engineering, just everything. I mean, we're like a team when I go in to do my solo records with Matt Thorne in the studio, and Erik and myself. We get in there and there is no stopping us, so I wanted to keep that a little separate, but he's always ready to go at any moment. He's a total professional."

HALESTORM's LZZY HALE Refuses To 'Shut Up And Sing': 'Art Has Always Played A Role In Revolution,' She Says

HALESTORM's LZZY HALE Refuses To 'Shut Up And Sing': 'Art Has Always Played A Role In Revolution,' She Says

Lzzy Hale has voiced her support for the "Black Lives Matter" movement following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.

The HALESTORM frontwoman took to her Tumblr earlier today (Monday, June 8) to express solidarity with the black community and to say she opposes racial discrimination and violence.

In a blog entry dubbed "The Spirit of Rock n Roll", Lzzy wrote: "I want to start by saying that I do not have a degree in political science; nor am I an expert on social injustice. But you don't need to be an expert or have a masters degree to know the difference between Right & Wrong and Good vs Evil. This is something instilled in you when you learn empathy and compassion.

"The notion that all Humans deserve to be treated as equals shouldn't be an optional belief, or a political opinion. It should be something that we all practice as a fundamental trait of our species. It should be a No Brainer. Justice for ALL, not Justice 'for some.' We are all born with that trait. But some of us are taught to fear, hate or discriminate against another human based on the color of their skin.

"Look inside your soul. If you are uncomfortable with or truly do not believe that all humans should be treated equally… than You are part of the problem.

"But it's ok to be wrong. And just because you are wrong doesn't mean that 'that's that' and we should just resolve to be divided on this. Fuck No, it's never too late to educate yourself and abolish that dinosaur mentality. Together we can be the asteroid that puts racism to rest once and for all.

"I truly believe hope and optimism are on the way. Unfortunately right now our country is plagued with Untamed Narcissism, Police Brutality and a Broken System. But sometimes it takes a horrific tragedy (or many horrific tragedies in the case of 2020) to unite us. So, This is not the time for Silence.

"We must keep up the momentum, if we don't, history is doomed to repeat itself. And We must not let that happen!

"I know a lot of you are telling me to shut up and sing. Well, this is me singing. I am an artist. And art has always played a role in revolution. I am specifically a Rock N Roll artist. Since the dawn of Rock, the genre has always been a safe haven for outcasts. In fact the WHOLE idea behind the Rock N Roll spirit is to rebel and stand up against injustice! And who birthed Rock N Roll? Black Musicians!

"So I will not shut up. If what I'm saying makes you uncomfortable, then you need to take a deep dive into your soul, figure out why, unlearn it, and come join us in the fight for change. We will welcome you with open arms.

"To my Black brothers and sisters, I will never truly understand your pain because I was born white. But I am outraged and heartbroken that you still have to endure this crushing weight that should've been lifted long long ago. I stand in solidarity with you.

"I will continue to use my voice to spread the Spirit of Rock n Roll.

"Love, equality, peace, empowerment, support and understanding.

"Black Lives Matter."

On May 25, Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, was killed in an incident caught on camera. A police officer, Derek Chauvin, kneeled on his neck for nearly ten minutes while Floyd was handcuffed. Chauvin faces second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter charges, while his former colleagues J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas K. Lane and Tou Thao are charged with one count of aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter. Video of the killing sparked riots and outrage across the country.

Lzzy was among the artists who "disconnected" from their usual work or promotion online in honor of #BlackOutTuesday (June 2).

Many of the artists shared posts on social media under the #TheShowMustBePaused hashtag and expressed solidarity with the black community.

MIKE PORTNOY Walks You Through His Vinyl Collection; Episode #2 Streaming (Video)

MIKE PORTNOY Walks You Through His Vinyl Collection; Episode #2 Streaming (Video)

Mike Portnoy is walking you through his latest vinyl collection is a series of eight videos. Episode #2 focuses on new reissues, B - F. Watch below:

Episode #1 focuses on new reissues, A - B:

BPMD - the new juggernaut featuring Portnoy, along with heavy metal icons Bobby Blitz (Overkill) on vocals, bassist Mark Menghi (Metal Allegiance) and guitarist Phil Demmel (Vio-lence, ex-Machine Head) - will release their full-length album of '70s rock covers, American Made, this Friday, June 12, via Napalm Records.

The members of BPMD have revealed their third single, the charging new version of Grand Funk Railroad's classic anthem, "We're An American Band". Check out the raucous new rendition via the lyric video below.

Bassist Mark Menghi says about "We're An American Band": “The goal of American Made was, and is, to pay tribute to some of the great music of the '70s, in particular, American music from the 70’s. We love music from all over the world; England, Germany, Brazil, Canada, Australia, etc... but at the end of the day, we are an American band, so it made sense to pay tribute to one of the greatest American bands of the '70s by covering one of the greatest songs of that decade by the mighty Grand Funk... Being that this song was originally written about being on tour, we’ve been reminiscing about days on the road and how much we miss our fans! Touring is the lifeblood of most bands - we can’t wait to perform some shows and play these BPMD tunes, and see music flourish in a live setting once again.”

Frontman Bobby Blitz adds: "'American Band', in my opinion was the icing on the cake for this project. The idea of American Made, the 70's called for it. The song was iconic then and truly stood the test of time. The call and answer between my vox and Phil's guitar on the outro make the track that much more special."

It’s evident within the initial seconds of BPMD’s American Made, as the legendary Bobby Blitz chants the introductory lyrics to Ted Nugent’s “Wang Dang Sweet Poontang” in his signature skyscraper-high howl, that he and his equally iconic bandmates are here to have a damn good time. Featuring 10 unforgettable rock classics reimagined as heavy bangers, American Made is a party on wax. Tracks such as the raucous “Toys in the Attic” (Aerosmith) and rager-ready “Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers” (ZZ Top) prove that BPMD not only manages to capture the essence of each original track on the album, but skillfully transforms each classic into an unforgettable metallic anthem for a new age. The seasoned quartet flex their musical muscles on renowned classics such as “Saturday Night Special” (Lynyrd Skynyrd), “We’re an American Band” (Grand Funk Railroad) and “Walk Away” (James Gang), and introduce a whole new heavy generation to deeper cuts like blues standard “Evil” (Cactus/Willie Dixon) and “Never In My Life” (Mountain). Channeling nostalgia while maintaining a fresh attitude, American Made is a summer soundtrack for all ages.

After connecting over their mutual love for the classics and forming their current line-up, the members of BPMD traveled to drummer Mike Portnoy’s home studio in Pennsylvania and set up shop. Since the whole concept of the band was born the night Menghi was listening to “Saturday Night Special”, BPMD were determined to record the song for the album. Beyond that, each musician picked two ‘70s rock tracks and everyone had to learn them!

American Made was mixed and mastered by Mark Lewis, also known for his work with Metal Allegiance (featuring Mark Menghi), as well as artists such as DevilDriver, Trivium, and many others.

American Made will be available in the following formats:

- 1-CD Jewel Case

THE DEVIL'S TRADE Unveil New Album Details; "Dead Sister" Single Streaming

THE DEVIL'S TRADE Unveil New Album Details; "Dead Sister" Single Streaming

Dark folk project, The Devil's Trade, will be releasing the sophomore full-length, The Call Of The Iron Peak, on August 28 via Season Of Mist, marking its debut to the label. The project is the brainchild of singer/musician Dávid Makó. The emotional first single, "Dead Sister," is out now and can be heard below.

Dávid Makó comments on the track: "The muse for this piece was probably the biggest storm cloud I have ever seen covering the perfectly clean summer night sky. I was sitting right under the eye of the storm on a plain somewhere in the Hungarian countryside. It was like sitting under a gate to another ancient world. The world went silent the air stopped and I was waiting to be smashed by the elements. For about twenty minutes it felt like I was connected to the otherworld. Then a cool wind came and blew it away. The sister part is too personal. It took thirty years to understand that someone I never met has such a powerful influence on me. If there is an afterlife I hope she will be there and I can hug her."

CALIGULA’S HORSE Launch Music Video For "Oceanrise"; Rise Radiant Chart Positions Revealed

Caligula’s Horse, hailing from Brisbane, Australia, a leading light in contemporary progressive metal worldwide, recently released their new album, Rise Radiant. Produced by the group’s guitarist Sam Vallen, and mixed by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Devin Townsend Project, Leprous), Rise Radiant is the band's most focussed and potent artistic statement to date.

Today the band launch the video for new single "Oceanrise", watch below.

Dale Prinsse comments: "'Oceanrise' frames life’s triumphs by celebrating the legacy we each leave behind in death. This was the first song written for the album, and represents Caligula’s Horse in a dynamic, colourful, and uplifting way. Performing in this music video was incredibly fun and full of smiles. The filming coalesced with the day we released our fifth album ‘Rise Radiant’, and the first time the band had seen each other in person for many months. We hope you enjoy it."

SVEN GALI - Advanced Stream Of 3 EP Available

SVEN GALI - Advanced Stream Of 3 EP Available

Canadian bashers Sven Gali, who reunited back in March 2018, will release their comeback EP, entitled 3, this Friday, June 12, via RFL Records. An advanced stream of the EP can be found below.

Sven Gali built a name fast with their live shows; drawing growing crowds on the Canadian and US circuit while building their songwriting chops and a wild reputation. David Bendeth signed the band to BMG Music Canada in 1991 and produced the self-titled debut, released in 1992.

The masterful debut album includes the hit, which was MuchMusic Best Metal Video award of 1993, "Under The Influence" and the emotional sweet balladry of "Love Don't Live Here Anymore", a song that became the #6 CanCon song of 1993. Following their profound release, the band was nominated for Hard Rock Album Of The Year and Most Promising Band at the Junos. Sven Gali went gold in Canada that year.

Following extensive touring worldwide, being a major event on stages with legends (April Wine / Foreigner / Pearl Jam / Def Leppard), Sven Gali didn't stop there, and continued their journey with release of their sophomore, InWire, in 1995.

Just recently, after a long time in the shadows, twenty-five years after their debut album went Gold in Canada, in 2018 Sven Gali came back rockin', kicking out the jams with modernized edged rock covered in metal with "Kill The Lies", and a year later, serving "You Won't Break Me".

It appears that Sven Gali are here to take on the 00s, and it has been evident with sold out Canadian shows in 2018 and 2019 and a promise to continue to play solo and festival dates in North America and Europe through 2021 and beyond.
