Watch JOE BONAMASSA's Music Video For 'Self-Inflicted Wounds'

Watch JOE BONAMASSA's Music Video For 'Self-Inflicted Wounds'

Two-time-Grammy-nominated blues-rock titan Joe Bonamassa has released the music video for his track "Self-Inflicted Wounds", taken from his upcoming studio album, "Redemption", which is due on September 21 via his own record label J&R Adventures.

"Redemption", Bonamassa's 13th solo studio album and third in a row of all-original material, sees him at his most ambitious yet as he continues to redefine and push the barriers of blues-rock. It features a staggering collection of 12 songs that weave effortlessly through an assortment of genres and reflect the artistic rebirth that he is currently experiencing.

"I'm going through some other stuff in my life I didn't expect to be going through," he explains. "It's a rising, it's contrition, it's acceptance, it's everything. It's painful, but knowing that there's a rising coming."

The album reunites Bonamassa with some of Nashville's finest music minds such as Tom Hambridge, James House, Gary Nicholson as well as Richard Page and American rock and roll legend Dion DiMucci (THE WANDERER, RUN-AROUND SUE) who adds his songwriting expertise to the title track. Joe also continues his long creative relationship with Kevin Shirley and together create an album bigger than ever before. "From a producer's perspective, this is far and away the most challenging and diverse album that Joe has ever made, " says Shirley.

The album was recorded at various locations, including Blackbird Studios in Nashville, The Cave Australia in Sydney, Studio At The Palms in Las Vegas, Criteria Hit Factory in Miami and Addiction Sound Studios in Nashville. It was once again recorded with a remarkable collection of musicians, including drummer Anton Fig (DAVID LETTERMAN BAND), bassist Michael Rhodes, keyboardist Reese Wynans, horn players Lee Thornburg and Paulie Cerra, harmony vocalist Gary Pinto, background singers Mahalia Barnes, Jade McRae, Juanita Tippins, and Kevin Shirley introduced two additional guitar players, Kenny Greenberg and Doug Lancio. "It was interesting, because having two extra guitar players involved, allowed me to play a certain way," Bonamassa adds.

The album opens with a tip of the hat to LED ZEPPELIN on "Evil Mama" that burrows into a deep groove before ripping into the rockabilly-tinged boogie blues of "King Bee Shakedown". Next, Bonamassa dips into his BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION influence to tell a tragic tale with timeless hard rock riffs for "Molly-O" and "Deep In The Blues Again" changes the course yet again with a driving rhythm meant for the car stereo.

"Self-Inflicted Wounds" is most telling of Bonamassa's progression as a true singer-songwriter, and Joe claims it as his best songwriting yet. "Pick Up The Pieces" channels Tom Waits for a late night after hours while "The Ghost of Macon Jones" sees Joe trade vocals with Nashville country singer Jamey Johnson as they recount a cautionary tale of a rural renegade. "Just Cos You Can Don't Mean You Should" channels Gary Moore for an upbeat taste of blues-rock euphoria before Bonamassa makes light of his trials and tribulations on "I've Got Some Mind Over What Matters".

Then Joe strips it down to only acoustic guitar and vocals on the heart-breaking tale of "Stronger Now In Broken Places", which promises that things will be better over time and features MIDNIGHT OIL's Jim Moginie providing soundscapes and Kate Stone on the hand pan. After this intense musical journey, Joe wraps it all up with a traditional blues rock tune with "Love is A Gamble".

There is a resounding theme of redemption and salvation on the album, but also very much a sense of strength and empowerment. "We all need to be redeemed at some point in our lives. It's this yearning to redeem yourself after just this tremendous loss and this tremendous feeling of pain," explains Bonamassa.

Bonamassa is at his ultimate creative peak with "Redemption", which follows the recent release of his last live masterpiece, "British Blues Explosion Live", that debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Blues chart and marked his 20th No. 1 album. Bonamassa's fire is unstoppable both in the studio and live on the road.

KILL DEVIL HILL Guitarist MARK ZAVON To Release Debut Solo Album

KILL DEVIL HILL Guitarist MARK ZAVON To Release Debut Solo Album

KILL DEVIL HILL guitarist Mark Zavon will release his self-titled debut solo album on November 23 via EMP Label Group, the label founded by MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson. Described in a press release as a collection of "timeless, uptempo hard rock songs" featuring "catchy riffs and giant hooks," the 10-song offering sees Zavon handling not only on guitars, but also bass, keys, and even all the vocals.

Co-founded by Zavon in 2011, KILL DEVIL HILL released two albums, "Kill Devil Hill" (2012) and "Revolution Rise" (2013), before going on hiatus as various members pursued other projects.

With KILL DEVIL HILL inactive, Mark found himself with time on his hands and an itch for a creative outlet. "I had a bunch of tunes that needed finishing or had just never seen the light of day, so I decided to put them together and see where it took me," he says.

Zavon hired Brian Tichy (OZZY OSBOURNE, WHITESNAKE, FOREIGNER) to record the drums and, with the exception of a couple of guest appearances by Vinny Appice (BLACK SABBATH, DIO) and Mike Duda (W.A.S.P.), handled the rest of the recording and performing duties himself at his Los Angeles studio. The effort was mixed by Josh Newell (INTRONAUT, BLACK VEIL BRIDES), and mastered by Paul Logus (STONE SOUR, THE WINERY DOGS).

Says Zavon: "I was really fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such talented people on this project; they really brought this record to life."

EVOKEN To Release 'Hypnagogia' Album In November

EVOKEN To Release 'Hypnagogia' Album In November

Death/funeral doom legion EVOKEN will unleash its new album, "Hypnagogia", on November 9 via Profound Lore Records. Recorded, mixed and mastered at Sound Spa studios in New Jersey by Steven DeAcutis, the record comes swathed in the artwork of Adam Burke (ARTIFICIAL BRAIN, MOS GENERATOR, HOODED MENACE) and marks the band's first new output in six long years.

Known as one of the founding fathers of the American death/funeral doom metal scene, New Jersey's EVOKEN has been a long-standing pillar over the band's 25-year pillage. The follow-up to their landmark "Atra Mors" full-length, "Hypnagogia" is a towering monolith that develops and redefines the band's sound that will only strengthen their position within the death/doom metal hierarchy where EVOKEN have always reigned.

"Hypnagogia" is an expression of doom metal artistry where the listener will bear witness how EVOKEN can create a new and even more daring expression with a monument that will be recognized as a landmark. This tends to happen regardless with every EVOKEN release, but "Hypnagogia" sees the band expand their musical dynamics even more through the meticulous care and discrimination of the band's song writing process, "Hypnagogia" being a listening experience through a multitude of varying yet flourishing emotions. Pushing both their penchant for grandiose melodicism and their trademark aura of pulverizing supreme unparalleled heaviness even more, it is the base of this repercussion that makes "Hypnagogia" one of the most intense, compelling, and soul-crushing EVOKEN listening experiences yet; one of euphoria, desperation, and hopelessness. As drummer/lyricist Vince Verkay says: "As we do on every record. we definitely wanted to avoid repeating ourselves. We wanted to keep it EVOKEN, of course, but go a little deeper with melody and arrangement and also try new things; to present the listener with an emotionally exhausting record."

"Hypnagogia" also sees EVOKEN delve into their first concept album. Relays Verkay of the themes and lyrics surrounding the record: "'Hypnagogia' is based around World War I and its physiological impact on those who fought. It's used metaphorically about events that impacted me the past three years, which I will keep to myself. But the story behind this World War I theme is based on a soldier who was so bitter about being lied to and is losing his life. He's wounded in battle and decides to write a journal of his final hours, describing what he sees and what he feels as his life is slipping away. Feeling cheated, he makes a pact with a sadistic god that he can leave a part of his soul, which contains all of his suffering, within this journal. To feel some sort of vengeance, anyone who reads this journal releases that part of his soul and it attaches itself to the reader like a host. Each emotion being experienced as if they too where there. As the reader descends into a deep despair, they cannot handle this suffering, deciding to take their own life. Once gone, that part of their soul, containing all the misery is taken by the writer's misery-laden soul and attaches itself to this journal again, increasing its powerful grip onto the next reader and each time its read with its power increasing."

"Hypnagogia" track listing:

01. The Fear After

02. Valorous Consternation

03. Schadenfreude

04. Too Feign Ebullience

05. Hypnagogia

06. Ceremony Of Bleeding

07. Hypnopompic

08. The Weald Of Perished Men

EVOKEN lineup on "Hypnagogia":

John Paradiso - vocals/guitar

Chris Molinari - guitar

Dave Wagner - bass

Don Zaros - keyboards

Vince Verkay - drums

VOLBEAT's ROB CAGGIANO On VINNIE PAUL: 'It Doesn't Make Sense That He's Not Around Anymore'

VOLBEAT's ROB CAGGIANO On VINNIE PAUL: 'It Doesn't Make Sense That He's Not Around Anymore'

VOLBEAT guitarist Rob Caggiano was interviewed by Kaaos TV before the band's June 28 headlining show at Provinssi in Seinäjoki, Finland. You can now watch the chat below.

Asked for his thoughts about the recent passing of PANTERA and HELLYEAH drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, Caggiano said: "I didn't believe it [when I first heard about it]. I thought it was a rumor or something… I still can't believe it, to be honest — I really can't. It's crazy. I mean, I just saw him — I just saw him in [Las] Vegas before we came out here [to Europe]. It doesn't make sense that he's not around anymore."

Rob went on to say that he has "toured with HELLYEAH a lot" over the years. "We did a bunch of shows when I was with ANTHRAX. THE DAMNED THINGS also did some touring with HELYEAH, and now with VOLBEAT, we did a bunch of stuff," he said. "And I always say, Vinnie Paul was my favorite guy to be on tour with. When he was on the road with us, you know it's gonna be a good time. He was just a great guy — really, an amazing, amazing dude… He was always super positive, always happy, full of life. He was the best — absolutely the best."

Caggiano also talked about the PANTERA influence on him as a musician growing up. He said: "I think anyone that is around our age, coming up in the metal scene, it would be impossible not to be somewhat touched by what PANTERA did and what they accomplished. Obviously, the were an incredible band. For me, as a guitar player, Dimebag [PANTERA guitarist and Vinnie's brother] was epic — he was an amazing player. I think what they did really kind of took metal to another place at that time and it opened up a lot of doors for other bands, I think.

"For me, back then, it was kind of like… When I was way younger, I was really into the whole 'Big Four' — that whole thing, when that term was first coined; the ANTHRAX, MEGADETH, SLAYER, METALLICA thing," he continued. "But then it kind of was, like, 'Okay, who are they gonna pass the torch to?' And PANTERA was right there, and they just kind of really took it really far. Yeah, again, they were an incredible band."

Vinnie Paul will be buried today (Saturday, June 30) next to his brother, and his mother, Carolyn, at Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, Texas.

A public memorial for Vinnie Paul will be held this Sunday, July 1, at Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas.

Vinnie passed away on June 22 at his home in Las Vegas at the age of 54.

VOLBEAT will enter the studio in November to begin recording its next album for a 2019 release. The follow-up to 2016's "Seal The Deal & Let’s Boogie" will be the band's first full-length effort to feature bassist Kaspar Boye Larsen.

"Seal The Deal & Let's Boogie" arrived in June 2016 and featured the chart-topping "Black Rose" and "The Devil's Bleeding Crown", in addition to the Top Five title track.

PAIN OF SALVATION: 'On A Tuesday' Video

PAIN OF SALVATION: 'On A Tuesday' Video

Swedish progressive rock/metal innovators PAIN OF SALVATION continue to promote their acclaimed latest studio album, "In The Passing Light Of Day", by launching a new live video for the album's opening track, "On A Tuesday", shortly before embarking on their next European tour.

The clip for "On A Tuesday" was directed by Thierry Villeneuve of Sombrero & Co. and filmed during PAIN OF SALVATION's appearance at last year's Hellfest in Clisson, France.

PAIN OF SALVATION's Daniel Gildenlöw checked in with the following comment about the video: "This particular show will always stick with us. It was far from perfect and we were still struggling with getting all gears in position with the show and all music. See, it was the first show we played with Johan [Hallgren, guitar] back in the band, so we had never played this material together on stage before. But we were all so happy and in a very good place, and it was the starting point of a new arc in the band's history.

"This is 'On A Tuesday', with which we ended the show.

"It's hard to describe how tired and sweaty and drained you feel at this point in the show, but also how filled up and complete.

"After having discussed different ways of cutting down the song for this live video version, we just thought, 'What the hell,' and released it in full length. It has all the energy, sweat, chemistry and flaws that could be expected from a live recording."

Starting this week in Berlin, Germany, PAIN OF SALVATION will be heading out on a headlining tour of Europe with support by KINGCROW from Italy.

In regards to the upcoming tourdates, Gildenlöw said: "It's great that the fan response has been so intense and that there is such a demand for seeing us play live. This is, what, the third run through Europe with 'In The Passing Light Of Day'…? It will be so great to be back, and I know I speak for all of us when I say that.

"It's never been as fun to be on tour — we have a great crew and a great band chemistry, and we have added some older stuff on the upcoming setlist just for the hell of it. We are so pumped to do this tour, and that's something that will undoubtedly come across to the waiting fans out there.

"Bring out your colored wigs, your mega sunglasses, your generally weird outfits — prepare yourselves!

"After years of public demand and fan requests, we are indeed rehearsing 'Disco Queen' for the upcoming tour! A promise is a promise. Europe — get ready to explode!

"One question that we have been asked by many fans over the last 10 years is why we don't play songs from 'One Hour By The Concrete Lake' live. This was never a deliberate move from our side; it just happened to turn out like that. This year, though, marks the 20th anniversary since its release, and to celebrate this fact we are bringing back several songs from this album on this tour, and we have so much fun playing them again. So if you're a fan of this album, you should definitely look forward to the shows.

"All in all, it will be an intensely energetic show that we are bringing to the fans for this particular tour — a high-octane PAIN OF SALVATION experience. We can't wait to share it with you!"

PAIN OF SALVATION's classic early albums "Entropia" (1997), "One Hour By The Concrete Lake" (1998) and "Scarsick" (2007) were recently made available for the very first time ever on vinyl. All three albums were issued as gatefold 2LP sets (+ CD as bonus) on 180-gram vinyl and including their corresponding bonus tracks from the respective recording sessions.

PAIN OF SALVATION 2018 is:

Daniel Gildenlöw - vocals, guitars

Johan Hallgren - guitars, backing vocals

Gustaf Hielm - bass, backing vocals

Daniel D2 Karlsson - keyboards, backing vocals

Léo Margarit - drums, backing vocals

CHILDREN OF BODOM's New Album Will Be Released In March 2019

CHILDREN OF BODOM's New Album Will Be Released In March 2019

CHILDREN OF BODOM bassist Henkka Seppälä (a.k.a. Henkka T. Blacksmith) has revealed to TNT Radio Rock that the band's 10th studio album will arrive next March.

Asked how the material on the disc compares to that on 2015's "I Worship Chaos", Henkka said (see video below): "This is always difficult for me. It's really, really hard for me to say. It's very CHILDREN OF BODOM, but there's always something new. I think maybe the one feature that I haven't heard in a while is more technical riffing, guitar riffing, where Alexi [Laiho, guitar/vocals] is pushing his abilities to their limits. So, I think that kind of stuff. And once Alexi compared this a little bit to the feeling 'Follow The Reaper' had. I'm not sure. But in those basic riffs, there's something to that."

Seppälä recently said that the new CHILDREN OF BODOM album will contain 10 songs.

The follow-up to 2015's "I Worship Chaos" was once again recorded at CHILDREN OF BODOM's own Danger Johnny Studios in Helsinki where the group's last two efforts were laid down. Helming the sessions for the new disc was producer Mikko Karmila, who worked on "I Worship Chaos" and 2013's "Halo Of Blood".

CHILDREN OF BODOM guitarist/vocalist Alexi Laiho told Metal Hammer back in May that the band's new album would be "a lot more straightforward as far as song structures go. 'I Worship Chaos' was also pretty straightforward, but it's got more of a rock 'n' roll vibe to it. It's still metal and dark and shit like that, but I'd say it's more rock 'n' roll."

CHILDREN OF BODOM's last U.S. tour saw the band celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of its debut album, "Something Wild". The 24-date trek included an appearance at last year's Ozzfest Meets Knotfest.

Listen To New MONSTROSITY Song 'Radiated'

Listen To New MONSTROSITY Song 'Radiated'

Florida death metallers MONSTROSITY will release their first studio album in 11 years, "The Passage Of Existence", on September 7 via Metal Blade Records.

The disc's third single, "Radiated", can be streamed below.

Drummer Lee Harrison recorded his drum tracks at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida with veteran metal producer Jason Suecof. A week was spent creating rock solid drum tracks. Guitar and bass tracks were handled at Ascension Sound in Tampa with the vocal tracks being recorded at OBITUARY's Redneck Studios in Gibsonton, Florida. The mix was handled by producer Mark Lewis (MEGADETH) and the resulting album was born.

Comments Harrison: "First off, I present to you the masterpiece of masterpieces in the MONSTROSITY universe.

"This album requires a certain justice though, and I ask you, as the listener, to properly step up to the task. Don't play this recording on a cheap portable radio or your tiny ear buds. This album was built to be played loud on a killer system. Do yourself that favor, at least for the first few times you play it.

"I know it's so horribly cliché to say 'Play it Loud,' but I can honestly say this album is made for that. Listen to it multiple times. These songs are going to 'pop' live, too. Can't wait to bring these songs to the stage. I'm curious to see the opinions. The response by the fans to the teaser clip we posted was super positive, so I'll be so glad when the single is released and the years of hard work finally come to fruition. Hope to see you guys on the road soon and blast it!"

"The Passage Of Existence" track listing:

ELUVEITIE To Release 10th-Anniversary Edition Of 'Slania'

ELUVEITIE To Release 10th-Anniversary Edition Of 'Slania'

In February 2008, the then-little-known Swiss folk metal band ELUVEITIE published an album which would later be heralded as one of the most important reasons for the group's breakthrough: "Slania".

What ELUVEITIE achieved with that album is not something you could call a phenomena. It's much more the product of hard, passionate work; the kind of work you put into something you love with all your heart.

Even though the band went quickly from being an underground act to being internationally successful, they had to fight their way to the top, shedding blood, sweat and tears. Euphoric reactions, sold-out shows and a newfound respect the world over were the well-earned rewards for their hard work.

For the band and also for the fans, "Slania" still has a special place in ELUVEITIE's quite remarkable discography. For that reason, the band has announced a very special anniversary edition of this masterpiece.

On November 16, ELUVEITIE will release "Slania - 10 Years" via Nuclear Blast Records. Mastermind Chrigel Glanzmann comments: "How time flies — hard to believe that it's already 10 years since we've released this album!

"These last ten years have been incredibly intense, they led us through many a trial and brought us a myriad of blessings. They've led us to countless places all around this earth. And all through the years, the songs of this album were with us and we're still playing them live today!

"So we're proud of 'Slania' and we're really happy with this re-release and also pretty excited about the bonus goodies it comes with! We hope you'll enjoy as much as we do! Cheers!"

"Slania" 10th-anniversary edition track listing:

01. Samon

02. Primordial Breath

03. Inis Mona

04. Grey Sublime Archon

05. Anagantios

06. Bloodstained Ground

07. The Somber Lay

08. Slania's Song

09. Giamonios

10. Tarvos

11. Calling The Rain

12. Elembivos

Bonus:

13. Samon (acoustic version)

14. Interview With Slania

15. Samon (demo)

16. Primordial Breath (demo)

17. Inis Mona (demo)

18. Bloodstained Ground (demo)

19. Tarvos (demo)

Last October, ELUVEITIE released a brand-new single, "Rebirth". The song is the first taste of the band's upcoming album, which is due next year. The official video for "Rebirth" was produced by Wolfgang Wolman and Oliver Sommer of AVA Studios.

ELUVEITIE in May 2016 announced the departure of drummer Merlin Sutter, vocalist Anna Murphy and guitarist Ivo Henzi.

The band's new lineup made its live debut at the Eluveitie & Friends festival in January 2017 at Z7 in Pratteln, Switzerland.

DEF LEPPARD's JOE ELLIOTT Releases Touching Video Tribute To Legendary Guitarist MICK RONSON

DEF LEPPARD's JOE ELLIOTT Releases Touching Video Tribute To Legendary Guitarist MICK RONSON

DEF LEPPARD frontman Joe Elliott has released a touching video tribute to his friend and early guitar hero, the late, great legendary musician Mick Ronson. Filmed in the midst of his band's recent sold-out North American stadium tour, the video opens with a film projector projecting cinematic footage of Elliott performing Ronson's ballad "This Is For You" on acoustic guitar in various locations on the road as archival photos and vintage black and white footage shows Ronson performing solo and with longtime musical partner David Bowie. As Elliott sings the lyrics, "This is for you! How are you doing? It's been a while/Where have you been? What have you seen? And did you smile?/Like I'm Supposed to do/Like I remember you," the song takes on new meaning as the love letter to a long-lost lover turns into a musical conversation between two old friends.

"I had an opportunity on a day off on tour to shoot a video... it just seemed rude not to!" says Elliott. "This video is my gift to the memory of Mick Ronson who gave me so much in my youth and then later on when we got to know each other."

The video was unveiled this past Saturday, August 25 on the 46th anniversary of the filming of David Bowie and the SPIDERS FROM MARS' shadowy and subversive video for "John, I'm Only Dancing". Directed by iconic rock photographer Mick Rock, the video featuring Bowie and the band in their best glam attire and androgynous dancers, was banned by "Top Of The Pops" in the U.K. and was never released in America as it was deemed too risqué by the record label.

Elliott recorded "This Is For You" exclusively for the soundtrack for the documentary "Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story", which was released in June via UMe following last year's successful theatrical run and the DVD/Blu-ray releases. The acoustic guitar and piano ballad, penned by Laurie Heath of the NEW SEEKERS, was included on Ronson's 1975 album "Play Don't Worry". Elliott's rendition is especially poignant as it features the late Dick Decent's last-ever performance on the piano. Decent was a frequent DEF LEPPARD collaborator and played with Elliott in CYBERNAUTS, their Bowie cover band, formed as a tribute to Ronson.

The first official career retrospective compilation for the guitar virtuoso, known affectionately as "Ronno," includes highlights from Ronson's solo records alongside material from his key collaborations with Bowie, Elton John, Ian Hunter, Michael Chapman and QUEEN.

Elliott first became a fan of Ronson's as an adolescent entranced by Bowie's breakthrough album "Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars". "I just wanted to give something back, because I was the kid that when I was 12 years old, staring at the inside sleeve of 'Ziggy Stardust', four squares of Bowie and the SPIDERS, I would be staring at Mick as much as I was staring at Bowie — it was the Jagger-Richards thing. It was Page-Plant; it was Perry-Tyler," Elliott told Salon earlier this year about recording the song.

Elliott and Ronson developed a friendship after meeting in the early '80s which lasted until Ronson's death in 1993 from cancer. Elliott helped Ronson record his final record and sang on two tracks. After Ronson passed, Elliott finished the album for him and "Heaven And Hull" was posthumously released in 1994.

Despite his production and guitar work with Lou Reed, Morrissey, Ian Hunter and MOTT THE HOOPLE, Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp and many others, it is Ronson's dynamic support, contribution, and co-creation of the expansive and multi-faceted career of Bowie and in fact that era of music, that the film and the soundtrack exposes. Featuring exclusive narration by Bowie and exclusive contributions by Rick Wakeman, Joe Elliott, Roger Taylor, Ian Hunter, Angie Bowie and many more, the career-spanning documentary "Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story", produced and directed by Jon Brewer, is a tribute to an uncomplicated man who achieved the pinnacle of success in the music industry as well as the rarefied respect from his contemporaries for his production and guitar skills.

TESTAMENT's CHUCK BILLY: The Goal Is To Have Next Album Out 'By Summer 2019'

TESTAMENT's CHUCK BILLY: The Goal Is To Have Next Album Out 'By Summer 2019'

this_inline_share_toolbox'>

TESTAMENT frontman Chuck Billy spoke to Metal Heads Forever Magazine about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's follow-up to 2016's "Brotherhood Of The Snake" album. "Eric's [Peterson, guitar] working on riffs now and the plan is after the SLAYER tour ends at the end of August, we won't be doing any more touring; we'll go heavy into writing mode," he said. "Me and Eric, we'll start really just creating and working, trying to get the next record out as soon as possible, because we have plans and hopes of setting a deadline on ourselves to have it out by summer 2019. We've got a lot of work ahead of us."

As for what fans can expect the next TESTAMENT record to sound like, Billy said: "I like the direction we went on 'Brotherhood', but our hope always is that there is some special element. Something special like 'The Gathering' [1999] feeling of music — that writing, you know; it'd be nice to kind of experience some of that again. That was a little more thrashier, that record, and we like that — we like the more thrashiness, while still trying to carry a melody. So, I don't know. We can hope, but until me and Eric sit down and start writing together, we don't know really what the outcome is until we start working."

"Brotherhood Of The Snake" was recorded under the watchful eyes of producer Juan Urteaga (EXODUS, HEATHEN, MACHINE HEAD), Peterson and Billy and was mixed and mastered by British metal producer Andy Sneap (ACCEPT, ARCH ENEMY, CRADLE OF FILTH, KREATOR, MACHINE HEAD, MEGADETH).

SLAYER's Final World Tour Will Extend Into 2019

SLAYER's Final World Tour Will Extend Into 2019

To date, SLAYER's final world tour has consisted of leg one and the just-wrapped leg two in North America, with leg three taking the band to Europe from November 1 through to December 8, 2018. The band's announced itinerary also has them headlining Mexico's ForceFest on October 7, 2018, and Hellfest in France on June 23, 2019.

Plans are already underway for SLAYER to take its final world tour to South America, Australia and Japan in 2019. But there will be more, plenty more. 2019 is twelve months long, and the world is a big place. Additional tour legs will be announced soon.

"We always knew this tour would take us into 2019," said SLAYER guitarist Kerry King, "and we've been blown away by the response we've been getting here in North America. We've heard about fans who have driven five, six hours, or flown in from other cities or countries to see us, so we want to assure our fans that we'll be on the road through 2019 and will get to as many places around the world as possible to make it easier for everyone to come and see us one last time."

"I just want to take the time out to say thank you to all our fans who have made this first part of this tour phenomenal," said SLAYER bassist/vocalist Tom Araya. "You really are loyal and dedicated fans and we appreciate that so much from you. We still have quite a few places to play, so next year, keep your eyes and ears open so you can catch us live one last and final time. Again, thank you!"

On January 22, 2018, SLAYER announced that it would do one last concert tour around the globe to thank their fans for all of their support over the years, for making the last three and a half decades so packed with good times and unforgettable experiences, and then move on.

SLAYER has been touring in support of its latest album, "Repentless", which was released in September 2015 via Nuclear Blast. That effort marked the band's first release since the death of SLAYER's co-founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman.

Hanneman contracted necrotizing fasciitis, also known as flesh-eating disease, in January 2011 from a spider bite in his backyard. The infection ravaged the flesh and tissues of Hanneman's arm, leading to numerous surgeries, skin grafts and intense periods of rehab that forced him into semi-retirement and left him near death at several points.

Hanneman eventually died in May 2013 from alcohol-related cirrhosis of the liver. He is credited for writing many of SLAYER's classic songs, including "Angel Of Death" and "South Of Heaven".

Original SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo was effectively fired from the band after sitting out the group's Australian tour in February/March 2013 due to a contract dispute with the other members of SLAYER. He has since been replaced by Paul Bostaph, who was previously SLAYER's drummer from 1992 until 2001 and recorded four albums with the band.

HALESTORM Scores Fourth No. 1 On 'Mainstream Rock Songs' Chart With 'Uncomfortable'

HALESTORM Scores Fourth No. 1 On 'Mainstream Rock Songs' Chart With 'Uncomfortable'

According to Billboard, HALESTORM's "Uncomfortable" has landed at the top of Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart. It's the band's fourth No. 1, and it ties HALESTORM with THE PRETTY RECKLESS for the most chart toppers by a female-fronted act. It's also the first No. 1 by a woman or woman-led act on Mainstream Rock Songs since THE PRETTY RECKLESS made it to the top with "Take Me Down" in November 2016.

HALESTORM's previous No. 1 songs are "Freak Like Me", "Apocalyptic" and "Amen".

Frontwoman Lzzy Hale told ABC Radio that the musical arrangement of "Uncomfortable" originally made the song difficult to sing. "I ended up doing probably the fastest verse I've ever written for myself and the most, I guess, complicated melodic riffing in the chorus that I've really ever done," she said. "Then I realized at the end of it, 'Man, if everybody likes this, I'm gonna have to do this every night.'"

"Uncomfortable" was the first single from HALESTORM's fourth album, "Vicious", which was released on July 27 via Atlantic. The disc was recorded last year at Nashville, Tennesse's Rock Falcon recording studio with producer Nick Raskulinecz.

Raskulinecz is an acclaimed producer who has previously worked with RUSH, KORN, ALICE IN CHAINS and DEFTONES, in addition to having produced HALESTORM's third covers EP, "ReAniMate 3.0: The CoVeRs eP", which came out in January 2017.

ELECTRIC BOYS To Release 'The Ghost Ward Diaries' Album In November

Swedish rockers ELECTRIC BOYS have signed with Mighty Music. The band's new album, "The Ghost Ward Diaries", will be released on November 23.

Commented ELECTRIC BOYS frontman Conny Bloom: "We like guitar riffs, strong hooks and heavy grooves, performed on analog instruments. I guess you'd call it classic rock.

"Lyric-wise, it's a bit darker than before; little diaries from times on the road and the struggle in between.

"The album is far from predictable, yet it was the easiest album to record since the reunion. We really had a good team going with producer/engineer David Castillo."

Formed in Stockholm in 1988, ELECTRIC BOYS is a band with roots in '70s groove rock and '60s pop and psychedelia. Their critically acclaimed debut album, "Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride", was produced by Bob Rock (METALLICA, BON JOVI, THE CULT, MÖTLEY CRÜE) and spawned the Billboard Top 20 single "All Lips 'N' Hips" that got them heavy rotation on MTV.

After extensive touring, ELECTRIC BOYS entered legendary studio Abbey Road to record the follow-up, "Groovus Maximus", which gave the band another Billboard Top 30 single with the song "Mary In The Mystery World". The third album "Freewheelin'" (also recorded in Abbey Road) peaked at No. 16 on the official Swedish album chart before the band called it a day in 1994.

Bloom went solo until he, as well as bassist Andy Christell, joined legendary glamsters HANOI ROCKS in 2005. In 2009, they began the process of reuniting the ELECTRIC BOYS. They released the album "And Them Boys Done Swang" in 2011 and the critically acclaimed fan favorite "Starflight United" in 2014.

In all the years, the band has toured relentlessly opening for the likes of METALLICA, ALICE COOPER, MR. BIG, HARDLINE, VIXEN and THUNDER. In 2017, the band took part in the hugely popular Monsters Of Rock cruise from Florida, it was a triumphant return Stateside.

Come 2018, the band has released two singles so far, "Dishes" and "Suffer".

Conny describes "The Ghost Ward Diaries" as "different" and full of fun.

The first radio single and music video from the upcoming disc, "Hangover In Hannover", is due to be released in late September.

"The Ghost Ward Diaries" track listing:

01. Hangover In Hannover

02. There She Goes Again

WE CAME AS ROMANS Members Comment On KYLE PAVONE's Death

Members of WE CAME AS ROMANS have commented further on the death of their singer Kyle Pavone.

According to TMZ, the 28-year-old frontman was transported to a Michigan hospital last Sunday (August 19) and pronounced dead six days later (Saturday, August 25).

A cause of death for Pavone is pending a toxicology report.

Drummer David Puckett took to Twitter earlier today (August 26) to write: "None of us were ready to say goodbye. But I know that Kyle is happy right now, because the entire world came together with the unfortunate news. Tens of thousands of people all over the world supporting one another, encouraging each other and sharing stories together."

He continued: "Kyle loved bringing people together, however he could- whether that was by being on stage, or by being he most ridiculous person in a room making everyone laugh. He loved creating moments for everyone to share, and he would be ecstatic to see us all supporting each other like the big family that we are. Thank you to everyone who has been reaching out to us and sharing your stories with us. Love you all."

WE CAME AS ROMANS co-vocalist Dave Stephens shared a picture of him and Pavone, along with the caption: "I will love you forever and I miss you already, brother." Similar messages were posted on Instagram by guitarists Joshua Moore and Lou Cotton, as well as bassist Andy Glass.

WE CAME AS ROMANS' fifth album, "Cold Like War", was released last October through SharpTone Records.

A week before his death, Pavone tweeted, "Will i be remembered or will i be lost in loving eyes," a lyric from the song "Promise Me" from "Cold Like War".

Pavone joined WE CAME AS ROMANS in 2008 as vocalist and keyboardist and appeared on all five of the band's albums. Their 2013 LP, "Tracing Back Roots", peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart.

WE CAME AS ROMANS was scheduled to embark on a U.S. tour in September as the support act for BULLET

Listen To SUICIDAL TENDENCIES Song 'It's Always Something' From 'STill Cyco Punk After All These Years'

Listen To SUICIDAL TENDENCIES Song 'It's Always Something' From 'STill Cyco Punk After All These Years'

"It's Always Something", a song from SUICIDAL TENDENCIES' forthcoming album, "STill Cyco Punk After All These Years", can be streamed below. The footage in the clip is of artwork being created at the Nuthouse STudio over three days by Alan Pirie a.k.a. Samurai Guinea Pig.

In the early '80s when the legendary SUICIDAL TENDENCIES formed, punk rock was not very welcoming to "new ideas" — especially from a new crew that were obviously not worried about fitting in. But SUICIDAL TENDENCIES weren't there to be "accepted," and not only played their own "STyle of Cyco Punk," but reinvented the DIY attitude to a level never seen before with their distinctive look and sound. For 35 years, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES haven't worried about what other bands or people were or weren't doing. They didn't ask for permission, nor did they care who it offended. They did what they wanted, but most importantly for the right reason, because it's what they felt, not because they wanted to be liked.

SUICIDAL TENDENCIES revisit their Cyco Punk aggressions with "STill Cyco Punk After All These Years", out September 7. In the spirit of doing things their own way, the album release will also introduce an official Converse x SUICIDAL TENDENCIES collection. More details on the collection will be revealed soon.

"STill Cyco Punk After All These Years" is a re-recording and re-imagining of a Cyco Miko (Mike Muir) solo album recorded in 1995, "Lost My Brain! (Once Again)". The album is an auditory time capsule — a full-on Cyco Punk record taken to a whole new level — featuring legendary drummer Dave Lombardo brutally beating the songs and sound that is made to get your slam on!

"STill Cyco Punk After All These Years" will be available in digital, CD, opaque green vinyl (with download card) and opaque gold vinyl (with download card, patch and poster) formats. All merch and physical formats can be pre-ordered via the official webstore, and digital formats can be pre-ordered via iTunes and Amazon. You can also pre-save the album via Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer.

Mike Muir says: "Over 20 years ago, I recorded my first 'solo' CD for release (technically the second, the first being the 'Solocide' sessions which probably will never be released as it was intended). The Cyco Miko 'Lost my Brain! (Once Again)' album was released in 1995 and even featured guitarist Steve Jones from the SEX PISTOLS on seven songs.

Although [during] the 13 years I was in SUICIDAL at that point, I did things I never dreamed I'd have the chance to, or could happen, there were still way too many times that were extremely difficult to handle. Basically, 'love music, don't like the other stuff.' Anyhow, remembering that original love for music made me want to do a punk-STyle record and at the time I didn't feel it was, could or should be an ST album."

Muir explains that now with Dave Lombardo behind the kit leading the charge, he felt not only could he do this original Cyco Miko album its due justice, he could do it as a SUICIDAL TENDENCIES album. He adds: "Not retro, but taking it 25 years forward and making it a modern Cyco Punk record. Extremely dangerous after so many years, but damn, I love these songs and I feel them so much. Perhaps surprisingly more now than when I was 30! The music hits me hard, and the lyrics hit me harder.

"Life takes you places sometimes you don't want to be. I know that more than I would like to admit... but it led me here, right now and I'm so proud to be here! And the irony is a 'non-SUICIDAL' album has just made me more SUICIDAL than ever!"

"STill Cyco Punk After All These Years" track listing:

01. I Love Destruction

02. F.U.B.A.R.

03. All Kinda Crazy

04. Sippin' From The Insanitea

05. It's Always Something

06. Lost My Brain... Once Again

07. Nothin' To Lose

08. Gonna Be Alright

09. Ain't Gonna Get Me

10. All I Ever Get

11. Save A Peace For Me

SUICIDAL TENDENCIES will perform at shows and festivals in several countries and cities in August, September and October.

SUICIDAL TENDENCIES is:

Mike Muir - lead vocals

Dean Pleasants - guitars

Dave Lombardo - drums

Ra Díaz - bass

GLENN HUGHES Kicks Off U.S. Leg Of 'Classic Deep Purple Live' Tour In Westbury, New York (Video)

GLENN HUGHES Kicks Off U.S. Leg Of 'Classic Deep Purple Live' Tour In Westbury, New York (Video)

Glenn Hughes kicked off the 18-city U.S. leg of his "Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live" tour last night (Saturday, August 25) at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury in Westbury, New York. Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be seen below.

Hughes's "Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live" tour finds him performing various hits and deep cuts from the DEEP PURPLE catalog, including "Burn", "Stormbringer", "Sail Away" and "Smoke On The Water", among others. Asked if he handles all the vocal parts in the classic PURPLE songs, including those that were originally sung by David Coverdale, Hughes told the "Iron City Rocks": "I do sing it all. It's not like I want somebody in the band to sound like David. I enjoy singing his parts as well as my own parts. I have a very — as you know — bluesy, soulful voice, and I feel kind of comfortable singing some of David's stuff. I've been singing 'Burn' now as a lead vocalist for 45 years, pretty much, and I don't think anybody really has ever gone home going, 'Woah, that wasn't Coverdale.' I just think I'm doing it because it feels like I can do it; let's just say I feel free doing it. It's not a chore for me to do; it's something I actually enjoy. I wouldn't sing something I didn't wanna sing."

The U.S. leg of "Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live" will travel around the Northeast before wrapping up in Tarrytown, New York on September 22.

Once the U.S. run wraps at the end of September, Hughes will return to Europe to continue to bring his interpretation of the legendary music of DEEP PURPLE to the fans worldwide.

During the "Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live" tour, Glenn focuses on arrangements from the live albums — not studio recordings — for the classic PURPLE songs, "giving fans even more insight as to what it was like seeing a DEEP PURPLE show during the 1970s," according to a press release for the tour.

LED ZEPPELIN: Video Teaser For Official 50th-Anniversary Photo Book

LED ZEPPELIN: Video Teaser For Official 50th-Anniversary Photo Book

LED ZEPPELIN has released a video teaser for the band's upcoming book, "Led Zeppelin By Led Zeppelin". The tome will be published in October by Reel Art Press in celebration of the 50th anniversary of ZEPPELIN's formation.

A recent press release about the book read in part: "Work on the official book 'Led Zeppelin By Led Zeppelin' is almost complete. The images have been carefully selected and annotated throughout by Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones. Celebrating 50 years since the band's formation, it covers the group's unparalleled musical career and features photographs of LED ZEPPELIN on and offstage from their very first moments together. This definitive 400-page volume includes previously unpublished photos, artwork from the LED ZEPPELIN archives and contributions from photographers around the world. There will be regular updates and sneak previews showing the work in progress. Stay tuned."

Page told The Pulse Of Radio that ZEPPELIN's initial influences from across the Atlantic solidified the type of music they would create over the years. "The fact is, all four of us, were so influenced by American music, and for me, the music that I was hearing in the sort of '50s over here, it was all a reinterpretation of what was going on in America," he said. "So we, sort of, had this American music, sort of coming in to us, and we were accessing it through the radio and records. That's a major part of why we became what we were — which is musicians and became totally seduced by this whole movement in music."

Released this past March was a newly remastered reissue of the LED ZEPPELIN 2003 live collection, "How The West Was Won". The set, which features new remastering supervised by Page, marked the first offering from the band in celebration of its 50th anniversary this year.

"How The West Was Won" was originally released on May 27, 2003 featuring tracks culled from two Southern California shows recorded at the L.A. Forum on June 25, 1972 and Long Beach Arena on June 27, 1972. Page sequenced the set to replicate a single concert from beginning to end.

Will 'Firepower' Turn Out To Be JUDAS PRIEST's Final Studio Album? IAN HILL Responds

Will 'Firepower' Turn Out To Be JUDAS PRIEST's Final Studio Album? IAN HILL Responds

Ian Hill says that JUDAS PRIEST is "not planning on" ending its recording career with the recently released "Firepower" album.

A critically acclaimed effort, "Firepower"'s success has been overshadowed somewhat by the news of longtime guitarist Glenn Tipton's ongoing battle with Parkinson's disease.

Tipton was diagnosed with the degenerative neurological disorder four years ago — after being stricken by the condition at least half a decade earlier — but only recently announced he was going to sit out touring activities in support of "Firepower". The guitarist, who is now 70 and has performed on every PRIEST record since the band's 1974 debut set, "Rocka Rolla", is not quitting the band, but simply cannot handle the rigorous challenges of performing live. His spot in the band is being filled by "Firepower" album producer Andy Sneap.

Asked by Musik Universe in a brand new interview if it's safe to say that "Firepower" will turn out to be PRIEST's final album if Tipton's condition doesn't improve, Hill said (hear audio below): "We're not planning on that. There's no reason why there shouldn't be anything. Glenn can play for short periods of time — even on a bad day, he can do that. It's just that he can't handle a full set at the moment. That may change — there may be procedures coming along that will help him along — but there's no reason why he shouldn't be able to write new songs. And he's capable of playing for short periods of time on the album as well. So we're not planning on 'Firepower' being the last album."

He added: "I think the 'Firepower' tour is now booked through until next summer. So we'll take some time off and stand back and then see where we're gonna go from there — whether we're gonna carry on with 'Firepower' or whether we're gonna do something else."

PRIEST singer Rob Halford revealed in a recent interview that the band is planning to mark its 50th anniversary in 2019 with a special celebration, although he declined to offer any details.

Hill is the sole remaining original member of PRIEST, which formed in 1969. Halford joined the group in 1973 and Tipton signed on in 1974. Rob left PRIEST in the early 1990s to form his own band, then returned to PRIEST in 2003. Founding guitarist K.K. Downing parted ways with the band in 2011, and was replaced by Richie Faulkner.

PRIEST has just returned to the United States for a co-headlining run with fellow classic heavy rockers DEEP PURPLE.

AMARANTHE's New Album, 'Helix', Was Written In Just Two Months

AMARANTHE's New Album, 'Helix', Was Written In Just Two Months

Swedish melodic metallers AMARANTHE have revealed that their upcoming fifth album, "Helix", was completed in under five months. "We actually wrote it in two months and we recorded it in two months," singer Elize Ryd told Radio Q at this year's Wacken Open Air festival (see video below). "I know we're crazy, but that's what we like. We like people to be crazy. Just go there, do your shit — do things you wouldn't expect yourself to be able to do. When the [record] label asked, 'Are you guys sure you can have enough time to write a new album?' And we do not like to say 'no,' so we said, 'Of course. Yes.' And we did it."

Added guitarist Olof Mörck: "And we figured it was also a good thing for us, to actually push ourselves a little bit. If we sit down to write music — me and Elize together have been writing this whole album — it's never happened even once that we haven't composed something. So when the label asked, I was, at first, like, 'Okay, this could really be pushing it.' So in the back of my head, I was thinking initially that, 'Okay, if this goes south somehow, then maybe we'll have to push [back] the recording — worst-, worst-case scenario.' But it just turned out the other way around. Because it was only two months, and we were constantly in the zone — day and night, every single day, composing all the time — so you never lost the focus of it. And I think it really, really helped the album, because it's a very focused album… So we just took a break from touring for two months to write it. and then another two and a half [months] to record it, and, poof, there was an album. Which is, at least in our opinion, the best album that we've ever composed."

"Helix" will be released on October 19 through Spinefarm Records. The disc was recorded at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark with producer Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, EPICA, DELAIN). The follow-up to 2016's "Maximalism" marks the band's first release with DYNAZTY's Nils Molin, who officially joined AMARANTHE in July 2017 as the replacement for Jake E.

The official music video for the new album's first single, "365", can be seen below. The clip was once again directed by Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Film Company, who has previously worked with DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL, IN FLAMES and KAMELOT, among others.

"Helix" track listing:

01. The Score

02. 365

05. Helix

06. Dream

07. GG6

DISTURBED Drummer Was 'Crushed' By VINNIE PAUL's Death

DISTURBED Drummer Was 'Crushed' By VINNIE PAUL's Death

DISTURBED's Mike Wengren has paid tribute to Vinnie Paul Abbott, saying that he was "personally crushed" when he heard the news of the former PANTERA drummer's passing.

Speaking to Cindy Scull of the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas radio station 97.1 The Eagle, Wengren said (hear audio below): "[Vinnie] was living both in Dallas and [Las] Vegas the last several years, and we were recording the [new DISTURBED] record ['Evolution'] in Vegas, so we saw him a couple of times. Obviously, he was a big hockey fan, and so am I, and that was one of our connections there, besides being drummers. And I saw him at the hockey game, and it was great to see him. And then to get that news [of his death] was just absolutely devastating."

The Wisconsin-based drummer, whose band performed a cover version of the PANTERA classic "Walk" at this year's Rock Fest as a tribute to Vinnie Paul, continued: "[Vinnie] was one of my biggest influences as a drummer, and as a young kid just growing up, playing and learning, I idolized him. So when we started to come up and I got a chance to meet him, I thought it was the most amazing thing; not too many people get that opportunity to meet their idols. But he was so damn cool [laughs], we became not just peers, but friends — and always stayed in contact throughout the years, and we've jammed together several times. And it was just absolutely devastating [to find out that he died]. So when we went out and played a few shows last month, it was only fitting that we pay tribute to him in some way."

Vinnie passed away on June 22 at his home in Las Vegas at the age of 54. The PANTERA and HELLYEAH drummer's death "did not appear suspicious," according to the official police report. Sources close to Vinnie told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he suffered a "major heart attack," but that information has not been corroborated yet by an official source.

DISTURBED's seventh studio album, titled "Evolution", will arrive on October 19.

GREAT WHITE Has No Desire To Reunite With JACK RUSSELL: 'We've Kind Of Just Moved On,' Says MARK KENDALL

GREAT WHITE Has No Desire To Reunite With JACK RUSSELL: 'We've Kind Of Just Moved On,' Says MARK KENDALL

GREAT WHITE guitarist Mark Kendall says that there was no talk about possibly reuniting with Jack Russell earlier this summer when the band made its latest singer change.

Early last month, GREAT WHITE announced that it was parting ways with vocalist Terry Ilous and was replacing him with Mitch Malloy.

Asked in a new interview with Ron Keel of KBACK Radio if GREAT WHITE thought about giving Russell a call once it became clear that Terry would no longer be in the group, Kendall said (hear audio below): "Not really. I know everybody would like all the original members to be together in all the bands, and sometimes, it's just not doable. I don't know… Addiction plays a role. I work with addicts and alcoholics on a daily basis, and it's tough. Jack's able to go out there and sing and everything, and we're happy for him. But we've kind of just moved on, and we wanna enjoy ourselves in the twilight of our career, if you will, and just have fun and just rock our hearts out. And we do it healthy, happy, loving, giving, caring…"

Kendall also confirmed that GREAT WHITE has been professionally filming some of its recent shows with Malloy with the intention of relasing something to the public soon. "We just felt it would be a good idea for us to do a proper video and record a show with something other than a cellphone to kind of introduce Mitch," he explained. "And our [booking] agent will use it for this and that, and we'll just throw it out there free — it's nothing we're gonna really put together to sell or anything; we just want people to see it properly and hear how it sounds at the show. Because when you hear a cellphone [recording], the guy [filming] might be over by the bass player's side and it might distort a little bit. So it really isn't a great representation, although we welcome the cellphones — I don't care if everybody holds 'em up and records us — but it's not really a great representation of what happened that night."

Ilous, formerly of '80s L.A. hard rockers XYZ, joined GREAT WHITE in 2010 after stepping in for touring vocalist Jani Lane (WARRANT).

The Ilous-led GREAT WHITE released two albums, 2012's "Elation" and last year's "Full Circle", before Terry was shown the door.

An original member of GREAT WHITE, Russell sued his onetime bandmates in 2012 over their continued use of the GREAT WHITE name after the singer had taken a leave of absence from the band for medical reasons. A short time later, Russell was countersued by Kendall, keyboardist/guitarist Michael Lardie and drummer Audie Desbrow, claiming the vocalist's self-destructive behavior was damaging the GREAT WHITE name (they also alleged he was charging promoters less for his own touring version of GREAT WHITE). The parties settled in July 2013 without going to trial, with Russell now performing with a new lineup as JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE while the others are continuing as GREAT WHITE.

GLENN HUGHES On Chance Of Working Again With DAVID COVERDALE - "I Think That Window Has Closed"

GLENN HUGHES On Chance Of Working Again With DAVID COVERDALE - "I Think That Window Has Closed"

In a new interview with Metal-Rules.com, Glenn Hughes discusses the possibility of working again with his former Deep Purple bandmate David Coverdale.

Asked if he thinks we will ever see a Coverdale/Hughes collaboration, Glenn reveals: "It is very doubtful. David and I attempted a Deep Purple Mark 3 reunion eight years ago when John Lord was still alive, but we couldn’t get Richie Blackmore on the phone. It was difficult to think about how we could continue it without him. Then John passed away. David and I both agree, the only way we think it could be feasible is if it had something to do with Deep Purple. It would appear that time is gone and I’m extremely busy as is David. I think that window has closed. Whatever happens in my life comes from above, so I’m just going to take direction from that."

Read the full interview at Metal-Rules.com.

Hughes recently announced the first time ever availability of concert recording downloads for the first leg of his upcoming US tour of Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live.

Not one to rest on his laurels, upon a classic rock history the equal of very few - Glenn is in the midst of a 130-date, 23-country tour - debuting a project that is both an homage to his Deep Purple Mark 3 & 4 legacy and a nod to his millions of fans… 250K following him on Facebook alone.

Nine of the 18 US shows will be made available for download as individual purchases of $11.95, regional packages of three each for $29.95, and for completists, all nine shows for $74.95, which will include a bonus show not for sale anywhere, plus additional treasures from Glenn's archive. KORN Singer JONATHAN DAVIS Releases Statement Following Death Of Estranged Wife

KORN Singer JONATHAN DAVIS Releases Statement Following Death Of Estranged Wife

KORN singer Jonathan Davis has commented on the passing of his estranged wife.

Deven Davis died on Friday, August 17 at the age of 39. The former model's cause of death has not yet been revealed. However, she reportedly suffered with sobriety and substance abuse throughout her life.

In a statement released via his social media channels, Jonathan called Deven "an amazing wife, amazing mother and amazing friend" who was suffering from "a very serious mental illness."

He wrote: "Over the last few days, there has been a lot of speculation over what really happened surrounding the death of my wife, Deven, and I want my voice to be heard.

"Over the past decade, my wife has been very, very sick. She had a very serious mental illness and her addiction was a side effect. I loved her with ALL of my being. When she was her true self, she was an amazing wife, amazing mother and amazing friend. Deven had a huge heart, and she would never intentionally hurt her children or anyone that she loved. She was an incredibly nurturing, giving, loving and hilarious person. She was full of life and joy, and would do anything to share that with those around her.

"I tried to hide what was going on for so long in order to protect her, but because of this tragedy that has happened to my family, I feel that now is the time to share the truth with all of you. She is the reason I have advocated so hard for those struggling with their mental health. I want her story to inspire people to reach out for help, and not to be afraid or hide from their illness.

"If you know someone with a mental illness, have compassion and empathy, and know that they are not bad people, they are suffering. I want this to inspire change. I want California law to change to help people like me help others get the help they need. How can someone who is sick realize themselves that they need help? She wasn't well enough to realize how sick she really was, and wasn't able to get the help for herself that she really needed. This shouldn't have to happen to other mothers, or anyone for that matter. I'd give anything to have the chance to hold her again. I'd give anything for my kids to have their mother back. I have comfort in knowing that now she has found freedom from her illness, and she is finally at peace.

"Deven, love you bebe. I'll never love anyone the way I loved you, and I'll never get over losing you. I promise I'll do everything in my power to raise our precious boys the right way, teach them the good values you wanted them to have so badly, and to break the cycle of abuse we both experienced as kids. I'll do everything I can to make your dreams you that you had for the future come true in your memory.

"The tattoo down your back, the poem I wrote for you when we started dating, said, 'Even in death, I'll be by your side my love,' in German. I swear one day with you by your side when my ride here on earth is over. I love you, Luber."

In 2016, Jonathan, 47, filed for divorce from Deven (citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason) and requested a domestic violence restraining order against her just a few hours before she was found dead in a Bakersfield, California hotel room.

Jonathan was reportedly granted a temporary order, which prohibited Deven from visiting their two children or having any contact with the family's dog.

In his declaration, Jonathan claimed Deven has struggled with drug abuse for over 20 years.

The singer alleged Deven was addicted to prescription and illegal narcotics and has been around their children while under the influence.

He also claimed his estranged wife was "constantly under the influence of the nitrous oxide, cocaine and Norco." He said she had monthly prescriptions for nearly 200 Norco pills. Jonathan alleged Deven had a drug dealer boyfriend who supplied her with additional narcotics.

Jonathan alleged he found the boyfriend passed out on the sofa in her living room when he brought the children to her house.

He also claimed he found a heroin pipe and cocaine floating in the toilet bowl while Deven was passed out on the floor upstairs.

According to Jonathan, Deven also battled alcohol and a sex and gambling addiction.

Deven was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in 2014, and Jonathan said their children were in the car, according to KGET.

After a drug relapse last month, Deven sought treatment at Bakersfield Behavior Health Center. She moved into a sober living home until she checked out August 10 — a week before her body was discovered in a hotel room at the Extended Stay.

The cause of death is pending toxicology results.

A former girl-on-girl porn star who married Jonathan in 2004, Deven and the singer had two kids together, Pirate and Zeppelin. (Jonathan's first son from his previous marriage, Nathan, will turn 23 this fall.)

BIFF BYFORD: 'Thunderbolt' Is SAXON's 'Biggest-Selling Album' Since 1991's 'Solid Ball Of Rock'

BIFF BYFORD: 'Thunderbolt' Is SAXON's 'Biggest-Selling Album' Since 1991's 'Solid Ball Of Rock'

SAXON frontman Biff Byford has told Spain's TNT Radio Rock that he is pleased with the response to the band's latest album, "Thunderbolt". "The record is still selling good — really good," he said (see video below). "We have a new version coming out in September with some live tracks on there. So, yeah, it's selling really well. It's probably our biggest-selling album since 'Solid Ball Of Rock', which was 1990, I think. [Editor's note: It was actually 1991.] The timing is good at the moment for SAXON and [IRON] MAIDEN and JUDAS PRIEST — very good for British bands of the '80s. So, yeah, it's good. We're riding a good wave of good feeling, so it's good."

Asked about the songwriting process for "Thunderbolt", Byford said: "We're not like a lot of bands. We don't write albums; we write songs. And then when we've written the songs, we put an album together. So there's no concept behind on the album.

"I had the idea of 'Thunderbolt' quite a while ago, and we just pieced it all together.

"For us, the songwriting is very important — every song has to be great, the lyrics have to be good, the choruses have to be big. So that's how we do it. I worked with [producer] Andy Sneap quite closely, and me and him put most of it together in the studio."

The tour edition of "Thunderbolt" will be released on September 7. The set features live recordings of "Thunderbolt" and "Nosferatu (The Vampire's Waltz)" recorded in Frankfurt and Los Angeles on the 2018 "Thunderbolt" world tour. The CD format also contains a 10" x 10" poster with photos of the band while on tour.

"Thunderbolt" was released in February via Militia Guard (Silver Lining Music). The follow-up to 2015's "Battering Ram" was once again helmed by Sneap, who has previously worked with JUDAS PRIEST, MEGADETH, ACCEPT and TESTAMENT, among others. The disc features original artwork by longtime SAXON collaborator Paul Raymond Gregory.

Like "Battering Ram", SAXON's latest effort features Byford alongside Paul Quinn and Doug Scarratt on guitar, Nibbs Carter on bass and Nigel Glockler on drums.

GEOFF TATE Enjoys Playing Music With With A Number Of Different People

GEOFF TATE Enjoys Playing Music With With A Number Of Different People

In a brand new interview with "In The Vault With Shanda Golden", former QUEENSRŸCHE singer Geoff Tate spoke about the importance of collaborating with as many different musicians as possible.

"When I was in QUEENSRŸCHE, I spent 30 years playing music and associating with and focusing on the same group of people," he said (see video below). "So when that was over, I thought to myself, 'What do I wanna do?' And what really interested me is having as many experiences as possible and playing music with a number of different people. So I've had a number of different people playing with me in my bands — I think I'm at 16 or 18 different players right now — and [I'm] just loving it. I've been playing with some legends and I've been playing with some new people that are just starting out that have all this enthusiasm and emotion. I love it all. It's great."

Tate recently embarked on the 30th-anniversary tour for QUEENSRŸCHE's landmark "Operation: Mindcrime" concept album.

The "Mindcrime" set covers all 15 songs from the album including such fan favorites as "Revolution Calling", "Operation: Mindcrime", "I Don't Believe In Love" and the closing track, "Eyes Of A Stranger". As fans might remember, Geoff performed the album in its entirety on tour in 2013 to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Tate's band currently on tour features Kieran Robertson from Scotland on guitar, Bruno Sa from Brazil on keyboards, Jack Ross from Scotland on bass, Scott Moughton from Canada on guitar, Josh Watts from England on drums and Geoff Tate's daughter Emily, who is singing the parts of Sister Mary. She's also in the band TIL DEATH DO US PART, who are special guests on this tour.

New ALICE IN CHAINS Song 'Never Fade' Was Inspired By LAYNE STALEY And CHRIS CORNELL

New ALICE IN CHAINS Song 'Never Fade' Was Inspired By LAYNE STALEY And CHRIS CORNELL

According to The Pulse Of Radio, ALICE IN CHAINS singer/guitarist Jerry Cantrell revealed in a new interview with Kerrang! that the band's new song "Never Fade" was inspired by his grandmother, late SOUNDGARDEN frontman Chris Cornell, and late ALICE IN CHAINS vocalist Layne Staley.

Cantrell explained: "I think there was some residue from the past lingering, but the ghosts were benevolent, they were there to help, not hinder. I wrote the lyrics to the song 'Never Fade' right there in Studio X. I thought, 'I'm not leaving this room until I chase this song down.' I sang about the history, all the songs that had been written, all the arguments among bands and discussions about the future."

Studio X, formerly known as Bad Animals, was where ALICE IN CHAINS recorded its last album with Staley on vocals in 1995 and where the group returned to work on its new LP, "Rainier Fog". Cantrell continued: "I was thinking about my grandmother, who'd just died a few months earlier; thinking about Layne Staley, thinking about Chris Cornell, who'd just passed a month before — just letting it wash over, and at the end, I walked out into the dawn and felt I'd had a significant spiritual experience. It couldn't have happened anywhere else."

"Rainier Fog", ALICE IN CHAINS' sixth studio album, arrives on Friday (August 24). The band's first new studio effort in five years, it contains the tracks "The One You Know" and "So Far Under" in addition to "Never Fade".

"Rainier Fog" marks a few firsts for ALICE IN CHAINS: in addition to being their first album in five years, it's their first album for BMG and their first time recording in their hometown of Seattle in more than 20 years (worth noting that the album title is a tribute to Seattle). The "Rainier Fog" recording process also saw the band spend time at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles and at the Nashville studio of producer Nick Raskulinecz. "Rainier Fog" is the third straight ALICE IN CHAINS album recorded with Raskulinecz and engineer Paul Figueroa. The album was mixed by Joe Barresi (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, TOOL).

ATREYU To Release 'In Our Wake' Album In October

ATREYU To Release 'In Our Wake' Album In October

California metalcore band ATREYU will release its seventh full-length album, "In Our Wake", on October 12 through Spinefarm.

Everyone leaves a legacy behind. No matter how big or small, our words and actions echo forever and make a lasting imprint.

Two decades since their 1999 formation in Southern California, that truth weighed heavy on the members of gold-selling metal mavericks ATREYU — Alex Varkatzas (vocals), Brandon Saller (drums, vocals), "Big" Dan Jacobs (guitar), Travis Miguel (guitar) and Porter McKnight (bass).

Of course, their musical legacy speaks for itself. 2002's "Suicide Notes And Butterfly Kisses" established them as an influential force, while 2004 follow-up "The Curse" sold 450,000-plus copies as the group rose to global renown. "A Deathgrip On Yesterday" and 2007's "Lead Sails Paper Anchor" both bowed in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top 200 with the latter garnering a gold certification from the RIAA — a highly rare accomplishment for a 21st-century rock band.

Following a hiatus post-"Congregation Of The Damned" in 2009, the musicians returned firing on all cylinders with "Long Live" during 2015. It crashed the Top 30 of the Billboard Top 200 and earned widespread acclaim. Along the way, the boys sold out countless headline shows in addition to sharing the stage with everyone from SLIPKNOT and LINKIN PARK to Chris Cornell and AVENGED SEVENFOLD.

As they commenced writing for their seventh full-length, the band posed an important question…

"What are you going to leave behind?", asks Brandon. "We named the album 'In Our Wake' because a lot of the concepts address this question. There are lyrics about dealing with your own personal demons and darkness. Some of it is about our children, which his who we live directly in our wake. Others are about the general public and the outpouring of hate and fear — especially in our country. We created something of a concept record without even trying."

"Everything we do causes a ripple or a wake," adds Alex. "It can be positive and good, or it can be fucked up and horrible. However, we are the masters of our own destiny. We want to leave something good behind."

Following a two-year tour cycle for "Long Live", ATREYU regrouped in Southern California and started sharing ideas for what would become offering number seven. Ceremoniously, they all agreed it would be the right time to reunite with producer John Feldmann who famously helmed "Lead Sails And Paper Anchor".

"'Long Live' was really heavy and reminiscent of our early material," continues Brandon. "While we were on the road, fans kept asking to hear more from 'Lead Sails And Paper Anchor'. It made us revisit that era of the band. It was a fun, experimental, and explorative time for us, which is so fun. We wanted to give ourselves and the landscape of heavy music a jolt, so we reached out to Feldmann."

The band recorded in two chunks bookended by Brandon's touring obligations for HELL OR HIGHWATER. Working out of Feldmann's Los Angeles studio, they embraced this new approach as the producer still made them"wonderfully uncomfortable and willing to push harder," according to Alex.

"Every song with the exception of two was fully written in the studio," says Brandon. "We'd split off into groups and crank out two ideas per day. We'd never written a fresh idea from scratch every day. Spontaneity makes things flow so much better though. We also never spread an album out like this either. We laid the foundation with five recordings, sat with them, and finished with a better picture of where we wanted to go."

As a result, the record sees ATREYU once again evolve. The first single and title track "In Our Wake", hinges on a slow burning, but bombastic percussive buildup before charging ahead with an undeniable chant and fiery fretwork.

"It's a deep one," admits Alex. "We looked up to Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington, and their deaths were fresh during the writing process. It made us think of what we'll leave in our wake. We have a choice to change the lives of others for the better."

A ticking clock gives way to a stadium-size chant on follow-up single "The Time Is Now". It seesaws between a robust beat and scorching call-and-response by Alex and Brandon as they carry the carpe diem chorus.

"It's all about just grabbing life by the balls, picking yourself up by your bootstraps, and realizing you only have one shot at this," Brandon goes on. "That was very reminiscent and reflective of this album. In our heads, there's no time to fuck around or just do what we've always done. We have to really fucking go for it. Tomorrow isn't promised, so we went for it."

Meanwhile, "Terrified" swings from a hypnotic refrain into an acoustic bridge, illuminating the diversity at the heart of "In Our Wake". Closer "Super Hero" (featuring M. Shadows of AVENGED SEVENFOLD and Aaron Gillespie of UNDEROATH) conjures visions of "ATREYU meets QUEEN meets Disneyland meets E.L.O." with its cinematic orchestration, horns, flutes, and grandiose production.

"It's about being your kid's superhero, so we invited other singers who are fathers to join us," Brandon explains. "Everyone wrote his own respective part and gave perspective on what fatherhood meant to him. I wanted it to feel like the music from the Soaring Over California ride at Disney's California Adventure park. It ends on such a huge note and offers a breath of fresh air."

In the end, "In Our Wake" doesn't just reaffirm ATREYU's legacy, it expands it like never before.

"We want to give listeners an experience," Alex concludes. "Every track functions as its own moment. There's something that you can hopefully come back and listen to again and again."

"I feel like this is the record that people will remember our band by," Brandon states. "I'm saying that because the best parts of ATREYU happened on it. We're continuing something we began a long time ago. This band means everything to me. We've been through incredible highs and incredible lows. We've loved each other, and we've wanted to kill each other. Somehow, twenty years later, it's reached a whole new level. I feel like we're alive, and ATREYU has never been more on fire than we are now."
