Arizona’s SUICIDE FOREST Announce Debut Album

Arizona’s SUICIDE FOREST Announce Debut Album

Seeking to promote self-destruction and nihilism, Arizona-based black metal extremist Suicide Forest has announced their self-titled LP.

Suicide Forest was engineered by Frank Blair, mixed and produced by A. Kruger, and mastered by the illustrious Collin Jordan (Nachtmystium, Cough, Eyehategod), with additional production handled by Chris Wisco (Broken Hope, Origin, Novembers Doom). Cover art was drawn by Lariyah Haze of Haze Designs.

Suicide Forest is the brainchild of 23-year-old multi-instrumentalist Austin Kruger, who self-released a trio of demos between July 2016 and July 2017: Emptiness, Indifference, and Apathy. Taking its name from Aokigahara, a 35-square kilometer forest in Japan known for being one of the most popular places in the world to commit suicide, Suicide Forest's music reflects the dour nature of the forest. Follow its trail deep into the woods, and join with the dead already residing there…

Suicide Forest will be released October 2nd via Ascension Monuments Media. Preorder announcement to come in the next week.

Tracklisting:

“Kingdom Of Solitude”
“Auto-Immolation”
“Longing For Nothingness”

Bieler recently checked in with the following update:

"I gotta take a sec and tell you these solo gigs have been some of the most unexpectedly wonderful experiences I’ve ever had the pleasure to partake in. We all get together, sing a bunch of songs, a wee bit of cutting the rug, and I regale you with tales from my pirating days. How this applies to you or your life, well, I’m not sure…but I guess the idea that you are kind of toying with, the one that excites you but then the rational 'you' makes up a myriad of excuses and obligations to prevent you from taking the plunge… well, take the damn plunge. Life is strange and wonderful and sometimes shorter than you think; who has time for anything but food, love, music, and dreams? Now back to your regularly scheduled nonsense. Have a great weekend!"

Bieler's solo tour schedule is currently as follows:

September
28 - The Funky Biscuit - Boca Raton, FL
30 - 80's In The Park - Cocoa Beach, FL

October
13 - The Hotel Cafe - Los Angeles, CA

TRAPPIST Release "No Soldier Left Behind" Music Video

TRAPPIST Release "No Soldier Left Behind" Music Video

Los Angeles craft beer connoisseurs Trappist brew forth their debut full-length Ancient Brewing Tactics, out now via Relapse Records. The video for the track "No Soldier Left Behind" can be found below.

Trappist comments on the debut album: "Starting a beer-centric band came naturally, considering the many parallels between the hardcore and independent beer scenes. Both foster collaboration, community, and support of grass-roots efforts. It made sense to team up with our old pals at Relapse for this release since they've always supported our previous bands. But enough about us... your pint is getting warm!"

Physical packages are available via Relapse.com here, and digital downloads / streaming services here.

Formed in 2014 and consisting of scene legends Chris Dodge (Spazz, ex-Infest, ex-Despise You, etc.), Phil Vera (Crom, Despise You, ex-(16)-) and Ryan Harkins (co-owner of popular heavy metal-themed burger joint Grill Em’ All), Trappist have one clear mission, to annihilate the listener with a storm of d-beat, crust punk, powerviolence, and hardcore all in the name of BEER. Picture Discharge style punk and Xeroxed WWII photos with bombs replaced by casks, cans, and kegs.

Ancient Brewing Tactics is 21 tracks and 33 minutes of booze-induced chaos, bound to knock you on your ass faster than shotgunning a 15% Russian Imperial Stout. Trappist round out their alcohol-fueled blasts with special guest appearances by Tony Foresta (Municipal Waste, Iron Reagan), Steve Brooks (Torche), and Blake Harrison (Pig Destroyer). NO CORPORATE BEER.

For the ultimate sensory experience, Trappist have recommended a specific beer pairing for listeners to drink along to each song on the album! “Wolves in the Taproom” is paired with Sierra Nevada Barrel Aged Narwhal Imperial Stout and “No Corporate Beer” with Eagle Rock Brewery Amwolf Pilsner. The full tracklisting and beer pairing are available below. True aficionados only!

MAYAN Premier "Dhyana" Music Video

MAYAN Premier "Dhyana" Music Video

MaYaN have released a video for the title track of their upcoming Dhyana album, out on September 21st via Nuclear Blast. Watch the clip below, and pre-order the album here.

Dhyana: the moment when the individual mind is absorbed by the heart and melts with the universal mind.

Through his musical contributions in Epica, After Forever and MaYaN, Mark Jansen has introduced another piece of knowledge, spirituality and mystery into the Dutch metal scene. For the third time since their inception in 2010, the now 10-piece symphonic death metal band has joined forces for a new album, and their latest opus Dhyana is set to lift them to an entirely new level.

The collective that is MaYaN has always had a profound love for movie scores, so it comes as no surprise that the next step in the band‘s career was to record a new album with a live symphonic orchestra. Turning their vision into reality, a crowdfunding campaign was started early 2018 to fund the recording of MaYaN‘s third album with a live orchestra. With the tremendous support of fans across the world, more than ˆ40,000 were raised and the band could finally approach the City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra to record their new album with them. Being one of the world's most renowned symphonic orchestras and famous for their work in cinematic features such as the Star Wars saga, Hannibal (2001) and Arrival (2016), as well as the orchestral parts of Dimmu Borgir’s Death Cult Armageddon they were the perfect choice to join forces with MaYaN to create the monumental sound landscape for Dhyana. The crowdfunding campaign packages also included an exclusive EP called Undercurrent.

Mastermind Mark Jansen states: "We have worked with all our energy, efforts and passion to create a remarkable album. "Dhyana" (which means the moment when the mind gets absorbed by the heart) makes us all very proud and we can't wait for it to be released.  With the support of our loyal fans worldwide we were able to record the album with the City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Because of this and also producer Joost van den Broek's know-how and enormous motivational drive we were able to meet the high standards of the best productions of today. It's needless to say that we are extremely excited!!!"

The concept of this third full-length release reflects on conceptual themes such as being self-aware of our thoughts and relinquishing our egos and self-conceited tendencies to finding out who we truly are.

Tracklisting:

"The Rhythm Of Freedom"
"Tornado Of Thoughts - I Don’t Think Therefore I Am"
"Saints Don’t Die"
"Dhyana"
"Rebirth From Despair"
"The Power Process"
"The Illusory Self"
"Satori"
"Maya - The Veil Of Delusion"
"The Flaming Rage Of God"

BLACK MIRRORS Streaming Third Single “Burning Warriors”

BLACK MIRRORS Streaming Third Single “Burning Warriors”

Belgians Black Mirrors have released the third single “Burning Warriors” from their upcoming album Look Into The Black Mirror. After the soulful “Moonstone”, “Burning Warriors” shows another side of the band, highlighting singer Marcella Di Troia. The song starts as a straight forward rock ‘n’ roll song, veers towards floating post rock and ends with a heavy outburst. It’s this versatile mix of different styles from traditional blues rock to modern stoner styles that make these newcomers from Brussels rising stars.

Singer Marcella Di Troia and guitarist Pierre Lateur on “Burning Warriors”:

“We are pleased to announce the release of our new single ‘Burning Warriors’. This song is super dear to our hearts as it talks about one of the biggest Native American slaughters, known as ‘The Wounded Knee Massacre’. By writing the song, we wanted to pay tribute to all indigenous people who, this very day, are still fighting to preserve their culture and tradition. They are a big influence for us personally in our daily lives.

“Music-wise the idea was to write a kind of ‘mini stoner symphony’ with a lot of different parts to avoid the usual verse-chorus structure. The end of the song is more instrumental and came to life by jamming on stage. This part is probably the heaviest moment of the entire album. We recorded multiple guitars for the end to make it sound really powerful. Marcella's scream at the end resembles an echo of the chorus. We always end our live shows with this track as it ends with a big bang!”

Pierre Lateur (guitarist) on the album Look Into The Black Mirror: "Look Into The Black Mirror is the result of all our personal, musical and spiritual experiences we've went through during the past five years. Overall the album is very song-oriented as we believe that 'melody' is the most important element in music. We dug into every aspect of what we enjoy in music; from straightforward heavy rock songs to very intimate, groovy or acoustic tunes. We recorded the album already months ago, and even after all this time we're still getting more proud of what we pulled off. We are so excited to finally share these songs with the world after such a long time! We'll play a lot of them on tour after the summer!"

POWER QUEST Announce New Guitarist George “The Kid” Karafotis

POWER QUEST Announce New Guitarist George “The Kid” Karafotis

Power Quest have welcomed guitarist George “The Kid” Karafotis into the band, replacing Andy Kopczyk who left the band earlier this year. Hailing from Thessaloniki, Greece, George also plays in the bands Vermillion Days (Greece) and Wild Willy’s Gang (Norway) and was previously a member of Raven Lord and Exorcism.

Power Quest keyboardist and founder member Steve Williams had this to say on the matter.

“It’s fantastic news to have George as part of the band. I’ve known him for a couple of years now and our drummer Rich has known him for 5 years since they played together in Raven Lord. George obviously brings a highly skilled level of guitar playing to the table but in addition to that he also brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. On top of that he’s just a bloody nice bloke haha! I look forward to hitting the road and the studio with George in the months and years to come. Welcome aboard matey”

George recently travelled to Southampton, UK to meet the band and undertake his first photo shoot as a PQ member ahead of rehearsals and live shows coming later in the year.

George commented as follows

“I can't even describe how happy and excited I am for this new era! It feels so amazing to be a part of this great group of smart, hardworking and really talented musicians. I felt so welcome from the very first minute during the photo shoot that I wasn't even sure if I was a new member or if we had been playing together for a few years. I could feel the chemistry already. It was like the perfect balance of espresso and milk in a good hot cappuccino, hahaha!

“When I first met Rich, he introduced me to Power Quest and I must say that I got stuck with the Blood Alliance album for many months, so when Steve contacted me about the guitarist's position some weeks ago, I felt that it was a straight ‘YES’ before we even talked about the rest of the band's obligations.

“I am really looking forward to hitting the road and the studio with my mates and deliver some high quality power metal to all of our friends/fans for many years to come! The Quest just started for me, see you all soon \m/"

ULTHA Premiere New Song “The Avarist (Eyes Of A Tragedy)”

ULTHA Premiere New Song “The Avarist (Eyes Of A Tragedy)”

German black metal force Ultha have premiered the first song, “The Avarist (Eyes Of A Tragedy)”, from their upcoming album The Inextricable Wandering, out October 5th on Century Media Records. Preorders available at  this location.

Band leader Ralph Schmidt comments: “‘The Avarist (Eyes Of A Tragedy)’ is the opening track of our third full-length The Inextricable Wandering. With its close to 15 minutes running time it is the second longest song on the album and my personal favorite, at the same time being the most painful to me. It was the first song we wrote for the album and also the one that took the longest to balance. It consists of two almost equally long, slower parts in the begging and end, as well as a very long fast part in the middle. As with Bosch's famous triptychon works, to us some of painted arts most incredible works, it deals with a way to/through hell, thus not in a religious sense. ‘The Avarist (Eyes Of A Tragedy)’ is a good representative of what we tried to combine on this record: mixing low end doom heaviness, black metal's frenzy, the melody work of dark wave/post punk brought together by an open, authentic and heavy sound, close to what we sound like live."

Lineup:
Manuel (Drums)
Ralf (Guitar)
Chris (Bass/Vocals)
Ralph (Guitar/Vocals)
Andy (Electronics)

ETHERIUS Reveal “Thread Of Life” Bass Playthrough Video

ETHERIUS Reveal “Thread Of Life” Bass Playthrough Video

New Jersey-based progressive metal quartet Etherius will release their stunning new instrumental progressive metal EP, entitled Thread Of Life, out August 24th. The new five track offering is available for pre-order via Amazon, iTunes, and Google Play. You can also stream select tracks now via Spotify.

Etherius have revealed a new bass playthrough video for the masterful track "Thread Of Life", featuring bassist Chris Targia performing amidst a beautiful forest setting. The video was filmed/directed/edited by Michael J Adams of Blackline Studios and recorded at High Tor State Park, NY.

Bassist Chris Targia says, "'Thread Of Life' starts off with a slower tempo acoustic section, so I used fretless for this part of the song. The rest of the song is fretted and alternates between fingerstyle in the verses and bridge, and slap sections in the chorus, with the final chorus/solo adding more slap variations and fills."

While online, check out the latest Etherius behind the scenes videos detailing the making of Thread Of Life.

Part 1:

In the video, Chris Targia says, "I like to be very varied with my play style, depending on what section of what song needs what. So sometimes I'll be playing with a pick, sometimes I'll be playing with fingers or slap, and I also have a fretless bass I used on the beginning of the song "Thread of Life". Fretless allows you to be more expressive with slides and vibrato."

The concept of Thread Of Life and the album's artwork was inspired by ancient Greek mythology. "The Greeks believed that many aspects of a person's life were determined by the three fates, or Moirai (moy-ray) as they were called," says Tarantino. "The Moirai were three sister goddesses who "spun out" a child's destiny at birth. The sisters determined when life began, when it ended, and the events that occurred throughout one's life. The first sister, Clotho, or spinner, spun the thread, which was a person's life. The second sister, Lachesis, or unbending, measured the thread, which was the length of that life. The third sister, Atropos, meaning inevitable, chose the manner in which life ended, thus cutting the "Thread Of Life". The reason they are depicted as having no eyes on the album cover is because the ancient Greeks described the sisters as "cold" and "unmerciful."

Thread Of Life tracklisting:

"Thread Of Life"
"The Soothsayer"
"March And Defy"
"The Inevitable End"
"Lament"

"The Inevitable End" video:

Thread Of Life was produced and engineered by Jay Tarantino and Zaki Ali with Angel Vivaldi acting as co-producer, was recorded at Backroom Studios in Rockaway, New Jersey (owned by Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Kevin Antreassin), and was mixed/mastered by Mutiny Within vocalist Chris Clancy at Audioworks Productions. Additional tracking was completed with Angel Vivaldi at his home studio.

Tarantino says about the band's writing and recording process, "Whereas a lot of modern bands compose music in pieces, swapping ideas back and forth through email/Dropbox and using modern recording technology to cut and paste it, we write music together in our rehearsal space and arrange the parts as a band. This gives the music a more organic quality that doesn't sound as mechanical or sterile as it does with the former approach. We try to rely on technology as little as possible when composing songs."

With one listen to Thread Of Life it's clear that combined, the four extremely talented musicians of Etherius produce a clean, awe-inspiring sound merging powerful progressive elements that will appeal to not only the most discerning and critical metal fans, but to the heavy music-loving masses as well.

ISKALD Release "Innhøstinga" Lyric Video

After four years of silence, the Arctic black metallers Iskald finally return to the battlefield with more fierce and power than ever before. Iskald will release their fifth studio album Innhøstinga (Norwegian: ‘the Harvest’) on August 31st. With this album, Iskald continues their art of cold, intense, yet melodic black metal.

A video for the album's title track “Innhøstinga” is available for streaming below. With its diabolical visuals the video itself harmoniously complements the tense and ominous sound of the track while simultaneously creating the powerful sense of dread. This piece of artwork is created by incredibly talented Costin Chioreanu.

Says the band: "The title track of the new album Innhøstinga (the Harvest) is a groovy, evocative and technical piece of black metal. The exceptional atmosphere and somewhat one of the more different Iskald songs to date. So dwell into the final ritual and behold as the Valkyries haunts the night! Valkyrje høster... KILLER BE KILLED Has Demoed 10 'Fantastic' New Songs For Second Album

Max Cavalera has confirmed to Metal Underground that KILLER BE KILLED has begun the songwriting process for its second album, tentatively due next year. "We already demoed for it; we got 10 songs out of it," he said. "[It came out] fantastic. Troy [Sanders] is more involved, which is what I wanted from the beginning. So that's gonna be great."

The supergroup, which is comprised of Cavalera (SOULFLY, ex-SEPULTURA), Sanders (MASTODON) Greg Puciato (THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN), and drummer Ben Koller (CONVERGE, ALL PIGS MUST DIE, MUTOID MAN), released its self-titled debut album in 2014 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment.

Drummer Dave Elitch (ex-THE MARS VOLTA) played on KILLER BE KILLED's first CD but was unable to continue with the band due to scheduling conflicts with his other group, ANTEMASQUE.

For their live debut at the 2015 Soundwave festival in Australia, Cavalera, Sanders, Puciato and Koller were joined by Juan Montoya (MONSTRO, ex-TORCHE), who also performed on the KILLER BE KILLED debut album.

"Killer Be Killed" sold around 5,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 58 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released in May 2014, the CD was produced and mixed by Josh Wilbur, whose credits include work with GOJIRA, LAMB OF GOD, HATEBREED, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, ESCAPE THE FATE, P!NK and STEVE EARLE.

STRYPER Performs As Three-Piece At Australian Tour Kick-Off (Video)

STRYPER Performs As Three-Piece At Australian Tour Kick-Off (Video)

STRYPER kicked off its Australian tour last night (Friday, August 17) at Max Watts in Melbourne. Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be seen below.

The band is touring without its guitarist Oz Fox, who was forced to stay home after collapsing onstage during a Las Vegas performance last weekend. Doctors who have been treating him have found two tumors in his head — one by his ear and the other in the back of his brain.

Oz's wife, Annie Lobért, wrote in a Facebook post that he "cannot drive, fly or work for three months because of the potential seizures." Furthermore, STRYPER has had to cancel its Japanese shows because Oz cannot perform due to his medical condition.

The band's frontman, Michael Sweet, said in a Facebook post that he's been friends with Oz since he was "almost 13 years old. We've been a 'duo' for almost our entire lives and I love him," he wrote. "He's family and a brother to me... We're all waiting to hear good news and we're all praying deeply for that.

"The important thing right now is Oz's health and well being," Sweet added. "Please continue to pray for him at this time. Pray for Annie and his family as well."

Formed 35 years ago, STRYPER is the first overtly Christian metal band to go mainstream. The group's name comes from Isaiah 53:5, which states: "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

STRYPER's albums include "To Hell With The Devil", "Second Coming", "No More Hell To Pay", "Fallen" and the band's latest effort, "God Damn Evil".

Here Is BREAKING BENJAMIN Covering METALLICA's 'Sad But True' In Camden, New Jersey

Here Is BREAKING BENJAMIN Covering METALLICA's 'Sad But True' In Camden, New Jersey

Fan-filmed video footage of BREAKING BENJAMIN performing a cover version of the METALLICA classic "Sad But True" on August 15 at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey can be seen below.

BREAKING BENJAMIN is continuing to tour in support of its sixth studio album, "Ember", which was released in April via Hollywood Records. The effort marks the first time frontman Benjamin Burnley got the other members of the band — guitarist Jasen Rauch (formerly of RED), guitarist/vocalist Keith Wallen (formerly of ADELITAS WAY), bassist/vocalist Aaron Bruch and drummer Shaun Foist — involved in the songwriting process.

"The guys in the band now, not to put anybody down, but the writing we had done with the old lineup, it was very limited and it was very unorganic to me," Burnley told The Herald-Journal. "I would have to take pieces and parts from things and make them fit into things that I already had. So with this band, on the writing aspect as well, the writing that those guys do is a lot more along the lines of the writing that I would do. We all kind of clicked that way."

Regarding the heavier musical approach on the new disc, Burnley, who also served as producer, told Guitar World: "The riffs are crazy, and the guitar sound is huge. People think there's tons of guitars on the tracks, but there really isn't. For the most part, it's just four rhythm guitars, and then we have little melody embellishments and leads. When you play the right parts and you space them out well, everything sounds bigger and bolder, so you actually have to do less."

Burnley also talked about how BREAKING BENJAMIN's live show has changed with the new five-man lineup, explaining to The Herald-Journal: "There are a lot of bands, they'll run [pre-recorded] tracks behind what they're playing. With the old [four-man] lineup, because we were sort of limited, I had to do that as well. No other guys in the band sang and there wasn't an extra guitarist. So there were some guitar parts that needed to be in there. There were some computer sounds, like samples and what not, that needed to be in there. We ran everything through a grid to like a click track. With this band, we don't run any click track and we don't run any [backing] tracks whatsoever. We use the technology in the right way as far as drum triggers are concerned, so we don't play to any tracks. So everything we're doing now is completely 100 percent live."

Watch GEOFF TATE Celebrate 30th Anniversary Of 'Operation: Mindcrime' In Sacramento

Watch GEOFF TATE Celebrate 30th Anniversary Of 'Operation: Mindcrime' In Sacramento

Capital Chaos TV has uploaded video footage of Geoff Tate's August 15 performance at B Street Theatre at The Sofia Tsakopoulos Center for the Arts in Sacramento, California during his 30th-anniversary tour for QUEENSRŸCHE's landmark "Operation: Mindcrime" concept album. Check out the clips below.

Asked about his current tour, Tate told The Great Southern Brainfart: "It's strange to think about, but this is my perspective. I wasn't actually even gonna do it again. I get requests — so many requests — to play this record in its entirety. You know who from? The promoters. I know people don't think of it from that perspective. I'm sure they must think that, 'Oh, Geoff Tate, he can't put that album away. He's just gonna keep playing it and playing it.' No, I wanna put it away. But the promoters just [say], 'You've gotta play 'Mindcrime' on this tour. You've gotta do it.' 'Ahh… Okay. One more time?' 'Just one more time.' [Laughs]

"But 30 is a good time," he continued. "I'm singing strong. I feel good. I've got a great band playing it who loves the album. And the fans are loving it and turning up in good numbers, and the promoters are happy. Everything's good. So I'm happy. I love the album; I love the songs; it's a very special record for me. Would I like to play other music? Yeah. [Laughs] I would. But this is what people want to hear from me at this point, so I'm giving them what they want."

The "Mindcrime" set covers all 15 songs from the album including such fan favorites as "Revolution Calling", "Operation: Mindcrime", "I Don't Believe In Love" and the closing track, "Eyes Of A Stranger". As fans might remember, Geoff performed the album in its entirety on tour in 2013 to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

"Operation: Mindcrime" — one of the most iconic concept albums of all-time — was the album that thrust Geoff Tate's unique social consciousness, style and expertly crafted lyrics into the international spotlight.

Proving the music has stood the test of time, in 2006, Geoff and his QUEENSRŸCHE bandmates brought the theatrical interpretation of the "Mindcrime" saga to audiences all over the world. In October of that year, an epic performance was filmed and recorded, resulting in "Mindcrime At The Moore", an album/DVD set released in July of 2007 that would debut at #1 on the Billboard Music DVD chart. It would mark the band's first #1 chart debut, quickly selling over 50,000 units, achieving gold status.

In all, Geoff Tate has sold more than 25 million albums at the helm of QUEENSRŸCHE, the band he fronted for 30 years from their inception through 2012, earning three Grammy nominations, five MTV Music Video Award nominations and one MTV Music Video Award along the way. One of those Grammy nominations was for "I Don't Believe In Love" (1990, in the new category of Best Metal Performance), a song that appears on the "Operation: Mindcrime" album.

The band currently on tour features Kieran Robertson from Scotland on guitar, Bruno Sa from Brazil on keyboards, Jack Ross from Scotland on bass, Scott Moughton from Canada on guitar, Josh Watts from England on drums and Geoff Tate's daughter Emily, who is singing the parts of Sister Mary. She's also in the band TIL DEATH DO US PART, who are special guests on this tour.

KORN Singer's Wife, DEVEN DAVIS, Dead At 39

KORN Singer's Wife, DEVEN DAVIS, Dead At 39

According to TMZ, KORN frontman Jonathan Davis's estranged wife died earlier today. Deven Davis was only 39 years old.

A Davis family representative confirmed the report, saying in a statement: "The Davis family is brokenhearted over the devastating loss of Deven Davis. We ask that you respect their privacy — and the privacy of those close to the family — and allow them the space to mourn in private. We thank you for your love, understanding and prayers of support during this difficult time."

A former girl-on-girl porn star who married Jonathan in 2004, Deven and the singer had two kids together, Pirate and Zeppelin. (Jonathan's first son from his previous marriage, Nathan, will turn 23 this fall.)

TMZ reports that Jonathan filed for divorce in October 2016, citing irreconcilable differences. He also filed for a domestic violence restraining order earlier today. The judge issued a temporary order blocking any child custody or visitation by Deven. The restraining order also prohibits her from having contact with the family dog, Chaos.

In his court declaration, Jonathan alleged Deven was deeply involved with drugs, which she had struggled with for more than 20 years. He alleged her drug use was causing emotional harm to the kids through neglect. He said that had been dependent on both prescription and illegal narcotics. According to the singer, she had been to rehab six times and "is constantly under the influence of the nitrous oxide, cocaine and Norco."

Jonathan alleged she had a drug dealer boyfriend who was passed out on the sofa in her living room when he brought the children to her house.

He also claims he found a heroin pipe and cocaine floating in the toilet bowl while Deven was passed out on the floor upstairs.

According to the documents, Deven had been in a sober home but went missing last Friday and hadn't been seen for a week.

No cause of death has yet been revealed.

Deven was born Deven Augustina Schuette in Findlay, Ohio on April 6, 1979. When she was 18, she changed her name to Deven Davis for modeling before she was married or even met her soon-to-be husband. As fate would have it, Davis ended up being her married name.

Jonathan reportedly gave up recreational drugs and alcohol almost 20 years ago, but has continued to struggle with chronic and debilitating anxiety and depression — and consequently a reliance on prescription drugs.

The singer has admitted in interviews that he was treated in 2013 for Xanax addiction.

Jonathan told Metal Hammer magazine that one song on KORN's 2010 album, "III: Remember Who You Are", was written about Deven "when she was having problems with pill addiction. [Producer] Ross [Robinson] called her without me knowing and asked her to show up to the studio, and I had to sing that part to her."

A few years ago, Jonathan credited Deven and his three sons with keeping him alive. "They saved me from being an idiot and dying from a drug overdose," he said. "They've given me this side of my life that brings me happiness. I love being a father: waking up in the morning, [taking] them to school, fixing them breakfast. I really get off on that."

Earlier this year, Jonathan told Forbes that he wasn't worried about his children using drugs. "My son Nathan won't ever do that," he said. 'He's 22 years old, he's a DJ. He goes out on the road, he's successful in music. He doesn't drink and he doesn't partake in any of that, because he saw what it did to me. He was three years old when I got sober, but he remembers me coming home and then finding me out on the front porch passed out drunk. Pirate and Zeppy have never seen me drink. There's no drinking in our house. For one, Zeppy [who suffers from Type 1 diabetes] can't, he'll die. And then Pirate, it isn't his thing. They're good kids. They've just never been brought up around that culture to party and have liquor.

"Hopefully Deven and I have taught them correctly, "he added. "That's a dark road. Parties, social drinking, it just leads eventually to bad stuff. You can be one of those people that socially drink, but I am not one of them."

PINK FLOYD - Rare Music Video For "Arnold Layne" Streaming

PINK FLOYD - Rare Music Video For "Arnold Layne" Streaming

''Arnold Layne'' was Pink Floyd's first single, released in 1967. The video, directed by Derek Nice, was made in late February 1967 and was filmed on the beach in East Wittering, West Sussex, England. The song was later published on the 1971 album Relics, the 1983 Works and the album Echoes: The Best Of Pink Floyd. It is also included in the Early Years box set.

Pink Floyd's "Not Now John" was released in 1983 and was the only single released from the album The Final Cut. "Not Now John" is the only song on the album with David Gilmour as the lead vocalist singing the verses and Roger Waters singing the refrains and interludes. Watch this rare video:

"One of These Days" is the opening track from Pink Floyd's 1971 album Meddle. The song is instrumental and only has one spoken/sung sentence by drummer Nick Mason, "One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces." This video was created the British artist and filmmaker Ian Emes who became widely known for his creative animations and for being the original animator for Pink Floyd.

Pink Floyd released "Point Me At The Sky" as their fifth UK single in 1968. The song has become one of the rarest official recordings of Pink Floyd and was not successful at the time, with it's B-side "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" becoming more popular.

Pink Floyd's "Paintbox'', written and sung by keyboardist Richard Wright, was first released in 1967 as the B-side to the single "Apples And Oranges". The promotional film was shot for a Belgian television programme. In the video, the band is miming to the song on a bridge in Brussels. This is David Gilmour's first appearance on film with Pink Floyd.

"Apples And Oranges" is the third UK single by Pink Floyd, released in 1967. It was the final song written by Syd Barrett with the group. After David Gilmour replaced Syd Barrett, the band recorded a promotional video in Belgium in a fruit market with Roger Waters lip-synching to the song.

All of the above tracks are included in The Early Years 1965–1972. Get it here.

On September 28th, Pink Floyd Records will release, for the first time on vinyl,  A Foot In The Door - The Best Of Pink Floyd, a collection of classic Pink Floyd tracks, chosen by members of the band.

Originally released in 2011 on CD only, the artwork for this compilation is the last work of long-term Floyd designer, the late Storm Thorgerson. This is the perfect Pink Floyd album for both devoted fans and those discovering their music for the very first time.

The career-spanning compilation features some of the best-known album tracks from 1967 - 1994, including the band’s first UK Top 10 single "See Emily Play", and the iconic "Wish You Were Here", "Comfortably Numb", "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and "High Hopes".

The tracks have been newly mastered for vinyl by longstanding Pink Floyd associate James Guthrie, with Joel Plante, and with lacquers cut by Bernie Grundman of Grundman Mastering in Los Angeles, California. The 2-LP version features the reinstated version of "Time", with the ringing alarm clocks at the start of the track restored, after being omitted on the CD release.

The original sleeve design, has been amended by Pink Floyd Creative Director Aubrey Powell of Hipgnosis and Peter Curzon, to include alternate versions of the photographs used in the original CD version. The album package comes in a gatefold outer sleeve, with two separate printed inner bags, and is pressed on heavyweight 180-gram vinyl.

"Hey You"
"See Emily Play"
"The Happiest Days Of Our Lives"

Founding FATES WARNING Members JOHN ARCH And JIM MATHEOS Re-Sign With METAL BLADE RECORDS

Founding FATES WARNING Members JOHN ARCH And JIM MATHEOS Re-Sign With METAL BLADE RECORDS

ARCH/MATHEOS began as a reunion between founding FATES WARNING members John Arch (vocals) and Jim Matheos (guitar), who hadn't collaborated since Arch's solo EP, "A Twist Of Fate" (2003) — and hadn't fully collaborated for a whole album since FATES WARNING's "Awaken The Guardian" (1986). In 2010, the duo began working on a record together and brought along three FATES WARNING members to the fold. The five members would in turn release their debut album, "Sympathetic Resonance", in 2011, under the name ARCH/MATHEOS.

Since then, Arch and Matheos have kept busy with their other projects — but now the time has come for them to join forces once again, for a new ARCH/MATHEOS release, due out 2019 via Metal Blade Records.

Arch comments: "The desire and commitment from both of us is first and foremost, but the impetus to move forward with another ARCH/MATHEOS project fell in good part on how well 'Sympathetic Resonance' was received, and how the fans have continued to show their support through a variety of mediums, stating they would like a follow-up effort. The timing for Jim and I seems to be right and things are coming along nicely. We look forward to sharing the results with you soon!"

Matheos adds: "It's great to be working with my old friend John Arch again. We push each other creatively in ways that brings out the best in both of us, I think. We've come up with what I hope is a worthy successor to 'Sympathetic Resonance', and a great lineup of musicians to help us bring it to fruition."

Already featuring special guests Thomas Lang, Bobby Jarzombek, Baard Kolstad, Mark Zonder, Matt Lynch, Steve DiGiorgio, Joey Vera, Sean Malone, Joe DiBiase and Frank Aresti — with more to come! — this upcoming ARCH/MATHEOS album is currently being tracked, with Jens Bogren (FATES WARNING, OPETH, DEVIN TOWNSEND) handling mixing duties in November.

Former JOURNEY Vocalist STEVE PERRY Says Response To His Comeback Has Been 'Overwhelming'

Former JOURNEY Vocalist STEVE PERRY Says Response To His Comeback Has Been 'Overwhelming'

This past Wednesday (August 15), former JOURNEY vocalist Steve Perry was interviewed on "Trunk Nation", the SiriusXM satellite radio program hosted by Eddie Trunk. A few excerpts follow (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On the initial response to his comeback:

Steve: "It's just overwhelming, to be honest with you. Who knew? I didn't know. I've been isolated for so long, I just didn't pay [enough] attention to know that. But now, I'm a social media kind of guy. [Laughs]."

On the inspiration behind his new solo album, "Traces":

Steve: "I really did go away and wait for the wheels to touch down and just let it all go, with a conviction that if music came back to my heart, great. If not, I had already lived the dream of dreams, honestly. What more could I have ever been a part of bigger than what we did together? I was okay with just moving on into the ether of my life. Then I met this girl named Kellie Nash. I met her though Patty Jenkins, a friend of mine who is the director for 'Wonder Woman'. She's just a very soulful writer/director. I'm hanging out with Patty, and she's doing this thing for [the cable television network] Lifetime called 'Five', which is about a woman who has breast cancer. She has all these people around her actors who have cancer, because that's how Patty rolls — she likes to get this authentic sort of environment for her actors. One of them happened to be this girl, as the camera's going across this patio scene in the hospital, I said, 'Patty, stop right there. Spool back. Who's that?' She said, 'Oh, that's Kellie Nash. She's a Ph.D. psychologist. She had breast cancer.' I said, 'Wow.' There was something — I don't know what it was. Something rang the bell in my heart. I had not felt that probably ever like this. I said, 'Do you have her email? Would you send her an e-mail that your friend Steve would love to take her to coffee?' She said, 'I will, but there's something I should tell you first. She was in remission, but it came back in her bones and it's in her lungs, and she's kind of fighting for her life.' At that moment, I decided, 'Maybe I should change my mind about this.' My head said, 'You don't need to get into this, and get to know somebody and lose some more people.' Then my heart said, 'Bullshit. You send that e-mail.' I listened to my heart and sent it. She got back to me a couple of weeks later, and then we talked on the phone. I think the first time we talked on the phone, it must have been four or five hours. Then we went to dinner, and we were inseparable after that. There was a connection I'd never experienced before. She passed away about five years ago — lost her to the disease. The thing is, one of the times we were together, she said, 'Listen, I need to ask you a favor. You need to make me a promise. If something was to ever happen to me, promise me you won't go back into isolation, for I think it would make this all for naught.' We were living in New York for a while, doing some treatment that was only available out here. I was playing some of my [song] sketches for her, and we were walking back from treatment one day and she started singing some of the sketches — rough sketches of songs that I'm working on. I'm going, 'What is that? That's one of my songs.' She said, 'I don't know — I just like it.' I needed that kind of confidence from someone like her. It just stuck with her, the music... After I lost her, I went through a couple years of serious grieving, and a lot of crying. I was trying to stop crying, but I had this incredible therapist who told me, 'I want you to cherish the grief. There will come a time where you won't be able to access it as deeply as you are now. I think it's good for you to cherish this moment,' because as humans, we do slowly climb out of the depth of the grief if you allow yourself to go into it. You never get over it, but it gets better. As as result of that, I think what she gave me back was a deeper broken heart than I ever had before, and from that came happy songs and R&B songs and rock songs and some sad songs. The album has a real beautiful blend of different moods."

On some of the notable musicians who contributed to "Traces":

Steve: "I always wanted to work with Josh Freese on drums, so he played on 'No Erasin''; he played on 'Sunshine's Gray'. I love Vinnie Colaiuta. He's got a relentless pocket, so he played on a lot of the music. Since I'm a drummer, I have a little bit of a propensity to lean toward great drummers. I wrote them all with some people and some alone. John 5 and I wrote 'Sunshine's Gray'. He came up with the title, which I loved."

On building a studio in which to record the album:

Steve: "I've always wanted to have a full-fledged, absolute, qualified, loaded studio, so I built a great room. I kind of patterned it after some of my favorite rooms, especially Motown. It's got a great drum room. We'd go in there — we'd start at 10 in the morning, and we'd stop around 6 or 7 every day."

On knowing when songs are "done":

Steve: "You can keep on polishing the varnish off of anything or the paint off of everything, especially now with Pro Tools. The trick is to know when it feels great, so what I tried to do, I started these songs with lots of loops to write them with, or even clicks. Then I turned around and put real musicians on them. Those real musicians brought such a unique feel and pocket to it, [and] that became the template to keep reaching for more of that. Once a foundation, I think, of a drum pocket and a rhythm section is established, you know what does and doesn't fit in an overdub sense. It will tell you, 'That works' or 'That don't work.' It's not rocket science if you listen, if you pay attention."

On whether he plans to tour:

Steve: "I'm talking about that with some people right now, but right now, my biggest emotional commitment is to the idea that it took a long time for me to just find my love for music again, and write music that I'm passionate about and sing music that I'm passionate about. There were moments in the studio where we would be working up a track or working on a mix, and I would actually get goosebumps on my arm. I'd say, 'I can't get that anywhere else but here.' I realized I must have found my love for this again, because it's resonating with me again."

On what he'd like to say to his fans:

Steve: "I don't know if words would cover it. It's a little overwhelming, the response, in a wonderful way. I just don't even know how to put it into words. I know this is going to sound really naïve, but I really did let it go to the point where I didn't even pay attention. I had to let it go to walk away from it. I had to really turn my back on it all so I could leave. Now, it's becoming clear to me that I guess they never left me."

"Traces", Perry's first solo album in more than two decades, will be released on October 5 via Fantasy Records (a division of Concord Records/UMG).

"Traces" marks Perry's first solo album since 1994's "For The Love Of Strange Medicine", which was certified gold in the U.S. for sales in excess of half a million copies.

Perry's final full concert with JOURNEY took place in early 1987. He later rejoined his bandmates for a brief performance in 1991 to honor late concert promoter Bill Graham. He also appeared with JOURNEY when they received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in 2005.

THE BROWNING To Release 'Geist' Album In October

THE BROWNING To Release 'Geist' Album In October

Kansas City quartet THE BROWNING will release its fourth album, "Geist", on October 26 through Spinefarm Records. In advance of the release, the band has shared the new song "Carnage", featuring Jake Hill. Listen below.

"Our new album, 'Geist', is by far our most dynamic sounding record," said vocalist Jonny McBee. "It has the heaviest, and softest music THE BROWNING has ever written. 'Carnage' is tip of the hat to the classic sound we have but with a ton of intensity and a feature from Jake Hill. When I wrote this song, the only thing I had in mind was to make it as high energy and hyped as possible."

Regarding "Geist", McBee continued: "My end goal for THE BROWNING is to be industrial-electronic-rock-metal. For this new album, I knew there needed to be a massive change not just musically for listeners, but for myself. That change had to come from the vocals. I've been working on finding the right voice for three years that's powerful and melodic, but still extremely heavy and emotional. It was a long process, and I documented most of it live on my Twitch channel."

As McBee faced myriad personal trials and tribulations throughout 2017, he simultaneously wrote countless songs and livestreamed the creative process on Twitch. Upwards of 100 users might tune in daily to witness his catharsis in real-time. Six of those songs would land on "Geist".

However, he quit streaming in order to get really personal. "Structurally, the base of half the album was written on stream," he says. "Since I was writing in front of a live audience, I was giving them what I thought THE BROWNING fans would want to hear — breakdowns, fast synths, and techno. However, I wanted to incorporate different elements. I wrote the rest in private, so I could really focus."

Intensely focusing, he spent nearly six months penning lyrics, sharpening his voice in the process. That period yielded a thematic thread that belies a much larger vision. In the end, THE BROWNING don't just pave their own path with "Geist"; they bulldoze it for others to follow.

"Geist" track listing:

01. Sick Minds

02. Beyond Stone

03. Final Breath

04. Ever Lost

05. Optophobia

06. Awaken the Omega

07. Hellblade

08. Carnage

09. Geist

COGNITIVE Reveal Artwork, Tracklisting, Release Date For New Album Matricide

COGNITIVE Reveal Artwork, Tracklisting, Release Date For New Album Matricide

New Jersey based brutal death metal act Cognitive have released details for their forthcoming third album, and second for Unique Leader Matricide. The album, which will be released on October 26th, shows the band pushing their blistering, chaotic technicality, pummeling brutality, and devastating groove far beyond anything they have done before.

Guitarist Rob Wharton commented, "The band really took a lot of time with making sure this album was different than our last album Deformity. We were extremely happy with the way that album was received, but wanted to try and offer something different this time around. This album pushed all of us on our instruments, but while being hard to play, we wanted to make sure the songs were fun and catchy. We incorporated a ton of new things into this album, while still making sure it sounded like us. We wanted to be more in your face, while still having some abstract passages in the songs. A lot went into this album and we think it's our best material yet, and we're very excited for everyone to hear it."

The massively heavy 10 track effort was recorded by AJ Viana at Sylar Sound Studios, mixed and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music (Six Feet Under, Hate Eternal, Revocation), and features artwork by the incredible Pedro Sena (Ingested, Analepsy).

Tracklisting:

"Omnicide"
"Architect Of Misery"
"Matricide"
"False Profit"
"With Reckless Abandon"
"Clouds Of Rust"
"Fragmented Perception"
"Vessel Of Violence"
"Torn From The Void"
"Denouement"

Cognitive will begin their first ever European tour starting August 21st. The run will see the group performing across a sizeable chunk of the UK and EU, and will see the band playing this year's Death Feast Open Air alongside The Black Dahlia Murder, Dying Fetus, Origin, Ingested, and many others. Dates can be found in the poster below.

WARBRINGER: Lyric Video For New Single 'Power Unsurpassed'

WARBRINGER: Lyric Video For New Single 'Power Unsurpassed'

The official lyric video for "Power Unsurpassed", the new single from Los Angeles-based thrash metallers WARBRINGER, can be seen below. The song has just been released digitally and will be made available as a strictly limited seven-inch vinyl single on August 24. Limited to 300 copies, the vinyl will be available only via WARBRINGER or Napalm Records' online store. It was produced by Mike Plottnikoff (IN FLAMES, FEAR FACTORY) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (SLAYER, METALLICA). The album artwork was created by Hugo Juarez.

WARBRINGER singer John Kevill commented: "We are putting out a single, 'Power Unsurpassed', so we have some new material for you all this summer, as we gear up to write and record our sixth record. It's designed as a total neck-breaker, with hammering riffs and a shredding solo. It is about people who want to take orders from no one, and to make their will reality — at any price.

"We'll be playing this when we return to Europe this month, at festivals and alongside SEPULTURA. It has been a good year since we invaded European shores, and as always we look forward to delivering completely savage live thrash metal to all in attendance. We will play a mix of material from 'Woe To The Vanquished', the previous four albums, as well as the new single 'Power Unsurpassed', which we expect will completely crush in the pit. There's a mixture of club dates and festival appearances, but as fans know, WARBRINGER will bring total aggression to any stage, anytime, anywhere. Europe — you're next!"

WARBRINGER's fifth album, "Woe To The Vanquished", was released in March 2017 via Napalm. The disc was produced and mixed by Mike Plottnikoff, mastered by Howie Weinberg, with cover art by Andreas Marschall (SODOM, BLIND GUARDIAN, OBITUARY).

Watch AEROSMITH Perform On 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon'

AEROSMITH performed the songs "Mama Kin" and "Big Ten Inch Record" on the Thursday, August 16 episode of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon". The legendary rockers' appearance on the program came one day after they unveiled the first details of their upcoming Las Vegas residency on the "Today" show.

AEROSMITH's 18-show "Deuces Are Wild Las Vegas" residency at the 5,200-seat Park Theater at Park MGM kicks off on April 6, 2019 and runs through July 9, 2019.

Tickets for the "Deuces Are Wild" show, named for AEROSMITH's 1994 single, range from $75 to $750 and go on sale to the general public August 24.

"I feel like we've been out of the wind for a while and it seems like it would be a really cool thing to bring some of the history back, so the production is gonna look like that," guitarist Joe Perry said. "We want to bring a show we can't do when we're on the road on a regular tour. A show that still has AEROSMITH and all the guts of AEROSMITH."

Drummer Joey Kramer added: "The history behind our almost 50 years of being together. As soon as you walk into the Park Theater in Vegas, you're gonna feel it."

Singer Steven Tyler promised a special show for Vegas.

"We're going to keep it raw," he said. "It's going to be beautiful, we're going to rock out and we’re going to use some special effects we haven't used before."

AEROSMITH officially formed in Boston in 1970 and last performed on May 5 at the New Orleans Jazz Fest.

In 2017, AEROSMITH announced a run of dates called "Aero-Vederci Baby!", but stopped short of calling it a final tour.

AEROSMITH hasn't released a new studio album since 2012's "Music From Another Dimension!"

Croatia's SIDE EFFECTS To Release Descending Rabbit Holes Album In September; "In The Shadow Of A Crumbled Fort" Music Video Streaming

Croatia's SIDE EFFECTS To Release Descending Rabbit Holes Album In September; "In The Shadow Of A Crumbled Fort" Music Video Streaming

Croatian trio Side Effects return to bring their progressive arrangements to the world for a fourth time with their next album Descending Rabbit Holes. Enhanced with a fusion of powerfully delivered, intricate drum parts, fierce bass, virtuoso guitars and poetic lyrics this album is the calling card of a no-frills rock power trio.

Fronted and driven by Ivan Mihaljevic's guitar-vocal-songwriting combo, Side Effects are celebrating their first decade of rocking with a new album to be released by the Italian based label Rockshots Records.

Besides the numerous live shows in rock clubs, Side Effects have played many big stages and festivals as well as being support for renowned artists such as Whitesnake, Richie Kotzen (Poison, Mr. Big) and Paul Gilbert. As a songwriter, Mihaljevic is now back to his creative roots, focusing his passion into a burst of energy to create these 11 new songs.

Sure to entice fans of Alter Bridge, Dream Theater, and Winery Dogs, the band continues to progress and evolve to share their experiences, opinions and feelings with their listeners.

Ivan quotes about the upcoming album: “The album doesn’t really have a unified meaning, but it’s named Descending Rabbit Holes, which is a line from the song Lint. What the title means is that every song aims to deeply explore the topic it deals with and therefore descends into the proverbial rabbit hole.”

Descending Rabbit Holes is set to be released on September 28th. Pre-order here, and watch a video for the first single "In The Shadow Of A Crumbled Fort" (directed by Bjartmar Thordarsonat) below.

Tracklisting:

"Don’t Contradict The Fates"

"Scratch The Surface"
"Colorblind"
"Don’t Turn Away"
"Diversion"
"The Siren Song"
"Hideout"
