BLACK MIRRORS Release Lyric Video For “Funky Queen” Track From Upcoming Debut EPIf Janis Joplin, Jack White, Anouk, Nirvana and Queens Of The Stone Age ever had the chance to breed, this band would have been their favourite creation: Belgium's answer to pretty much every rock band out there, Black Mirrors, manage to gather an endless amount of influences which have been ruling the rock n’ roll universe for decades. This one’s a keeper, and with good cause Black Mirrors just recently signed a worldwide deal with Napalm Records.
Now the band, fronted by charismatic vocalist Marcella Di Troia, unveil a first lyric video from their upcoming debut EP, Funky Queen, which is set to be released on March 3rd.
The band explains: “We are proud and happy to introduce you to our new EP! We worked on it with a lot of passion and love and we can’t wait to share it with the world and to hear people's reactions. Making and releasing this EP fills us with great joy and hopefully more people will love our songs as much as we do! Initially the song "Funky Queen" - from a musical point of view - was far more complicated than how it is today. There were many different parts that have been revised to eventually come to the current version. We composed the final version on a folk guitar which helped us getting more into the essence and feeling of the song. Funky Queen is about any kind of addiction as in drugs, alcohol or even love. The Queen confronts everyone with one’s own demons.“
Watch the lyric video below.

INGLORIOUS To Release New Album In May; Band Introduce New Guitarist (Video)British hard rockers, Inglorious, will release their new album, Inglorious II, on May 12th. The band has also announced their new guitar player, who you can meet in the video below.
September 2016 saw Inglorious base themselves in Liverpool to work on the follow up to their 2016 eponymous debut album. Produced by the band and mixed by the legendary Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith), this new album is set to further enhance the standing of this remarkable band. From the body blow riffs of "Read All About It”, to the beautiful melodies of upcoming first single "I Don't Need Your Loving", from the groove of "High Class Woman" to the classic feeling ballad "Making Me Pay", this is an album that shows the bands influences stem from iconic rock and roll shrine of rock albums from the 1970s - many years before the band members were born - merged with a truly contemporary feel. Driving riffs and instant melodies all overlaid with the unique and powerful vocals of Nathan James.
Nathan James on Inglorious II: "It came together very organically after spending time touring together and felt great. We knew we were making an album this time too! We focused on getting our sounds just right so we could get into the studio and out in the least time possible. Between Adde's flat in Malmö, Sweden and Colin's family home in Somerset, England, this album came together quickly. We spent three weekends in Somerset, writing in a kind of 9-5 fashion, whereby we knew we were at work. Then after a lovely home cooked dinner we would relax, have a few beers and balance out our hard work, the environment is so important to be creative and we had it good!"
Tracklisting:
“I Don't Need Your Loving”
“Taking The Blame”
“Tell Me Why”
“Read All About It”
“Change Is Coming”
“Making Me Pay”
“Hell Or High Water”

“I Got A Feeling”
“Black Magic”
“Faraway”
“High Class Woman”
The album will be released as a standard CD and also as a Deluxe 2CD/DVD edition. The DVD will feature a previously unavailable live performance from Download Festival 2016 plus extra bonus content, including videos for forthcoming singles "I Don't Need Your Loving" and "Taking The Blame".

2016 was a stunning year for UK five-piece Inglorious. Their eponymous debut album was released in February. The album received widespread critical acclaim at press, multiple A lists at radio and a lauded performance on Vintage TV. The band toured across the world, with numerous high profile shows in the UK and Europe - including show stopping performances at Download Festival 2016 and Ramblin' Man Fair 2016, support slots for The Winery Dogs and The Dead Daisies, and culminating with a support slot for Steel Panther's European Arena tour in October and a co-headline UK tour with labelmates Last In Line in November 2016.
Formed in February 2014, the band is fronted by Nathan James, who made a name for himself having sung for the multi-platinum selling Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Scorpions guitar legend Uli Jon Roth. Nathan was looking for like-minded musicians that desired to make incredible rock music in a very honest fashion. The band's lineup on Inglorious II was completed by rhythm guitarist Wil Taylor, lead guitarist Andreas Eriksson, bassist Colin Parkinson and drummer Phil Beaver.
The band have also announced the departure of album guitarist Wil Taylor right after the end of the new album's recording. They are delighted to announce that for 2017 and moving forward they are reuniting with original member Drew Lowe on guitar, who is joining the band as a permanent member. METALLICA's KIRK HAMMETT: 'One Of My Main Goals As A Musician Is To Have My Own Sound'METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett was interviewed on the December 19 edition of "Whiplash", the KLOS radio show hosted by Full Metal Jackie. You can now listen to the chat using the widget below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).
On preventing his creative enthusiasm from getting overwhelmed by sorting through the sheer volume of ideas while writing a new METALLICA album:
Kirk: "I've been a musician for most of my life. I've been playing guitar for four decades now. And it seems that after a while, you reach a point where the ideas flow, they come quickly — or they don't. But after a time, you kind of get a backlog of ideas. And at that point, if you've been a working musician for a long time, one of the most difficult things to do is to be objective about your own work — or subjective; whatever you need to be. And a lot of time it's really, really difficult to just ascertain what is better than something else musically, because a lot of times, when it comes from the same source, you kind of stamp everything with that same stamp of approval. And so it helps when you have other bandmembers around, or you're surrounded by producers, engineers, whatever, who tell you, 'That's a good piece of music, but that is not.' I mean, it really helps. Having said all that, I think that it's pretty obvious when an idea comes on the floor and it's instantly, 'All right. This idea is way better than anything else we have,' and it instantly just floats to the top."
On when he first started feeling comfortable, as a guitar player, that his own style was starting to emerge:
Kirk: "Woah… Maybe a couple of weeks ago. [Laughs] You know, it's funny, because as a dedicated musician, as a dedicated guitar player, I pick up my guitar, I play day in, day out. I'm very conscious of what has happened before my time, what has happened during my time and what has happened in the now. And I'm very conscious of how I fit in into all of this. My whole attitude has been pretty much the same from the onset, ever since I first started playing: pick up your guitar, work hard to improve yourself and grow, and be open to new things and just try to be a sponge, and filter in all the good stuff and try to keep out all the bad stuff. I've been doing that pretty much my entire musical life, my entire musical career, and I've just been keeping to what sounds good to me instinctually and never losing sight of what inspires me and who inspires me, what influences me an what does not influence me. And through all that stuff, every time I play guitar, it's the accumulation of all those things I've just mentioned. And when I play my guitar, that's me — that's my personality. And concurrently, people have come up to me and said, 'Kirk, you're doing a good job. You have your own sound.' And for me, it's hard for me to hear my own sound because I'm so close to it — I'm in it, you know; it's me. And so when I hear other guitar players coming to me and saying, 'You have your own sound. I can always tell when you play.' People have been telling me this ever since [METALLICA's debut album] 'Kill 'Em All'. And so, for me, that's one of my main goals as a musician — just to have my own sound. And I don't know how it happens. All I know is that I just really try to work in trying to be an individual and try the best that I can be as a guitar player, and somehow, along the way, my personality and my identity has come through in my playing, and I'm very thankful for that. And I'm very appreciative of the fact that other people can hear my personality in my guitar."
METALLICA has shows booked in Denmark, Mexico and South America over the next three months, but has yet to unveil its full 2017 tour plans, including its first North American tour in eight years.
The band's sole North American date so far is May 21 at the Rock On The Range festival in Columbus, Ohio.
METALLICA's latest album, "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct", came out in November. The effort consists of two discs, containing a dozen songs and nearly 80 minutes of music.
"Whiplash" airs every Sunday night from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on the Los Angeles radio station 95.5 KLOS. The show can be heard on the KLOS web site at 955klos.com or you can listen in on the KLOS channel on iHeartRadio. Full Metal Jackie also hosts a nationally syndicated radio program, which can be heard all over the country. KREATOR Frontman Wasn't Shocked By DONALD TRUMP's Election WinKREATOR frontman Mille Petrozza has weighed in on underdog Donald Trump's stunning upset of Hillary Clinton in the U.S. presidential election, saying that he wasn't shocked by the real estate mogul's win.
Trump surprised the political establishment and the world by becoming the 45th president in one of the biggest upsets in U.S. political history. He won with 306 electoral votes compared to 232 for Hillary Clinton. 270 were needed to win. Clinton, however, handily won the popular vote, despite losing the overall election.
Speaking to Noisey, Mille said about the U.S. election outcome: "Let's see how Trump does! I hope he isn't gonna be responsible for the downfall of civilization, and I doubt that's gonna happen. We've seen many weird people in power before.
"I was confused that somebody like Trump could become the USA's president, but I wasn't shocked; a lot of my American friends were shocked," he continued. "The next four years will show whether or not there was a need to panic.
"I'm not an expert — I want to point that out before I say something wrong! — but remember when we had the 'war' president, the Bush guy? He was a 'war' president and I see Trump as a 'business' president.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm not pro-Trump, but let's see what he comes up with. It could be a disaster, but I try to be PMA about this stuff."
Mille went on to say that he understands why Trump is so reviled by some people. "I have friends who are Mexican-Americans; I was in L.A recently with a Mexican-American friend, and I asked him this very naïve question: 'Aren't Mexicans, like, American?'" Petrozza said. "I always had the impression it was that way because they're part of American society; if somebody's saying they're going to build a wall blah blah blah, then, of course, people are going to be offended, because they're a part of the culture. If it wasn't for the Mexican fans, the Satanic Hispanics, the metal world in America would be very boring."
Mille also addressed the fact that Trump has famously called climate change a "hoax," though his Cabinet has attempted to strike a more moderate tone in confirmation hearings. In addition, Trump has pledged to withdraw from the Paris Agreement — signed by his predecessor Barack Obama — which is the world's first comprehensive treaty to tackle greenhouse gases.
"People are dying from global warming, there's scientific proof," Petrozza said. "It's another of those strange things Trump says, one of those things that doesn't make any sense in the real world. Maybe it makes sense in Trump world, but in the actual world, yeah, it's a massive problem."
KREATOR's new album, "Gods Of Violence", will be released on January 27 via Nuclear Blast Records. 3

BRAD WHITFORD Isn't Sure Why AEROSMITH Is Embarking On 'Farewell' TourBrad Whitford says that he doesn't know why AEROSMITH is choosing to call it quits after the upcoming tour, insisting that "there's a lot more life in the band."
Last fall, AEROSMITH announced what was being billed as the band's "farewell" tour of Europe — with an opening stop in Israel thrown in for good measure. The group announced the 2017 "Aero-Vederci Baby!" European tour in November, posting on its Aerosmith.com site: "AEROSMITH will return across the Atlantic with one of the greatest rock shows ever seen and will undoubtedly be the ultimate must see event of 2017 as the band embark upon this, their 'farewell' tour, saying 'Aero-Vederci Baby!'"
Asked why AEROSMITH chose now to end the band, Whitford told NME: "Oh gosh, I'm not really sure. I don't know, I think it was a general business decision, between the promoters to the management to the band. I don't actually feel like we're gonna be shutting the whole thing down at the end of it, but I think there's a lot more life in the band. But, I guess you've got to start somewhere. So, we're just starting to put the farewell label on things."
Pressed about whether AEROSMITH could record new material, he replied: "That is a very good question. We haven't been in the studio in a while, and I think we're gonna be in the studio a little bit next month. We'll have a better idea of it all, when we get together and do that — of whether we're gonna record any new music. I know we would like to. And I know that we probably have quite a bit of music that we're sitting on. Whether we actually follow through on that, how much we're gonna do, whether it would be a couple of songs or more, is yet to be seen, but it sure would be fun!"
He continued: "I'd say the band is playing really well, people are writing a lot, there's a lot of music that's being created on the sidelines, in home studios and all that sort of stuff. It would be fun to just have something new to do. We've just got to take it organically, if it feels good we'll go ahead and do it."
In addition to Israel, AEROSMITH's spring and summer dates will hit Georgia, Russia, Germany, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, England, Ireland, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland. Singer Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry announced the tour via a fake newscast video featuring "The Toxic Twins" portraying cable TV anchors. 2

ALICE COOPER Talks Alcoholism, Depression And "Hey Stoopid" - "I've Gotten So Many Emails: 'That Song Saved My Life'" (Video)Shock rock legend Alice Cooper recently spoke with CTV news about his battle with alcoholism and depression as part of Bell Canada's Let's Talk campaign. Check out the interview below
Cooper: “I was in generation where we looked at our big brothers. My big brothers were Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. And they were already doing every drug in the world and drinking every day and living this lifestyle that was very appealing, especially for a Christian kid. And so I fell right into it.”
Cooper said he drank every day and, after a while, began taking drugs. It took him years to realize that he had a problem.
“I didn't realize that I was an alcoholic until I realized that the alcohol was not for fun anymore. It was medicine.”
He turned things around by going into treatment and renewing his childhood roots in Christianity.
But mental health issues seep into his music. Cooper wrote “Hey Stoopid,” a song about teen suicide, which includes the lyrics: “No doubt you’re stressin’ out/That ain’t what rock n’ roll’s about/Get off that one way trip down lonely street.”
“That song in particular, I’ve gotten so many emails: ‘That song saved my life.’”

Former SLIPKNOT Drummer JOEY JORDISON 'Would Love To' Make Another MURDERDOLLS AlbumIn a brand new interview with CrypticRock.com, former SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison spoke about the current status of MURDERDOLLS, his one-time project with horror-punk stalwart Wednesday 13. "I cannot say anything bad about that band and what we accomplished with the MURDERDOLLS," he said. "Those tours we did are really awe-inspiring when you look in hindsight of what we accomplished in a short amount of time and the two records we did. I could not be more proud and happy of what we accomplished in that time. Everyone that was in that band, the couple of different personnels we employed, the MURDERDOLLS were killer. Like I said before, I don't know if I would do another record, but I won't rule it out."
According to Jordison — who played guitar for MURDERDOLLS — the band enabled him to express himself musically in a way that wasn't possible with SLIPKNOT.
"That is the thing, when we did 'Beyond The Valley Of The Murderdolls' [2002], I had already done four records with SLIPKNOT, two that were on the label and released," he said. "When we did the first MURDERDOLLS record, I have this punk rock and pop side of me that I don't really get to get out in other areas in my life. When we did that band, it was just pretty much to express fun, have a great time, and kind of throw a monkeywrench into what was going on in rock and metal at the time, and it worked. I would love to do another record. Like I said, I won't rule it out."
Wednesday 13 also left the door open to making another MURDERDOLLS record, telling BrokeHorrorFan.com last fall: "MURDERDOLLS turns fifteen years old next year, and it took on a life of its own. It's in the fans' hands at this point. To me, it's rock and roll. I could put any drama or differences aside to go out and play music for our fans. That's what it comes down to at the end of the day. You do this for such a long time — even with the WEDNESDAY 13 [solo] stuff — it's as much the fans as it is me these days, because I need them to live. That's how it works. You don't alienate that. I always feel that people want what they want."
He continued: "That was a cool time, because MURDERDOLLS is why I'm here today. If that hadn't happened, I don't know… Joey pulled me out of obscurity and gave me a career, and I'm forever indebted to him for that. No matter any behind the scenes, whatever's going on with that — it's nobody's business, really — but I always say: at the end of the day, if the fans wanted it and he was into doing it, I would definitely entertain the idea of doing it."
MURDERDOLLS issued its sophomore album, "Women And Children Last", in August 2010 via Roadrunner Records. The CD, which was recorded at a studio in Hollywood Hills, California with producer Chris "Zeuss" Harris (HATEBREED, SHADOWS FALL, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD), sold 8,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 43 on The Billboard 200 chart.
In an interview with the Classic 21 radio station at the 2013 edition of the Graspop Metal Meeting, Jordison was asked if the band had officially come to an end. "Yeah. We're not doing anymore records," Joey replied. He elaborated in a separate interview with Metal Insider: "Nothing really happened [to cause the end of the MURDERDOLLS]. I really loved the last MURDERDOLLS record ['Women And Children Last']. It's just that, for me personally, I had enough of it, you know? I mean, it was fun but it's not where my heart lies in music. I lie more with drums and the more heavy and darker aspects of music. I need to push myself in different areas and I can't rely on the MURDERDOLLS to satisfy me artistically." 2

OVERKILL Frontman Loves Politics But Won't Sing About ItOVERKILL frontman Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth says that he won't cover political topics in his lyrics because he doesn't want to "invade" people's personal beliefs.
Asked by Canada's The Metal Voice if he ever injects any of his political views into the subject matters that he writes about in his lyrics, Ellsworth said (hear audio below): "I love politics. I mean, it's something I've followed since before college, when I was in high school; it's just something I've always liked. I think it's because I like history, and I think if you like history, you equate it to the politic of the time. So, for me, it's of great personal interest, but I don't think I'm qualified to tell people what my views are or what my stance is on something. And not that I have great influence."
He continued: "Listen, I'm the same asshole who wrote… was part of the writing of [OVERKILL's debut album] 'Feel The Fire'. So, the point being is that politics should be personal and not swayed by that of an entertainer.
"You know, I think that people, when they get a record deal and they write a record and it's relatively successful, and then three and four records [later], it gets more and more successful, that person thinks that they are suddenly smarter than they were on the first record. It's just not true. [Laughs] It's just not true; you're the same guy. I mean, sure, there's growth, but you're not instantaneously politically smarter, and to invade people's political beliefs, I think, is… I personally think it's a sin, because I think it's an individual right. So I won't put politics in any of my lyrics."
In regards to how he goes about writing his lyrics, Ellsworth said: "First and foremost, I like to speak about things I know, and probably the thing I know the most about is OVERKILL.
"I've been here [as the OVERKILL singer] for over three decades, and most of my principles and the good things I have in life have been given to me through OVERKILL, were earned through OVERKILL," he continued. "And I think there's a lot of principles [that are instilled] in anybody in a band for that amount of time, or even a business or a relationship for thirty-plus years. So it's what makes me me. So I speak about our principles, whether they be commitment, whether they be unity, whether they be friendship or even betrayal. I speak about blacks and whites with regard to, you know, friendship maybe the white and betrayal maybe the black. So I'm trying to use broad strokes with regard to how I live my life."
Ellsworth went on to say: "With regard to adding wit [to some of the songs], I just kind of speak in my own vernacular in lyrics. I mean, I would speak like I'm having a conversation and then apply that to lyrical content. So it's a phrase, or it's a word, or something common to our expressionism down here. So, again, it's a vernacular and things I know."
In a 2010 interview with Canada's "The Red Switch" show, Ellsworth revealed that he wasn't a fan of Barack Obama, calling the then-president a "liar." The singer explained at the time: "He [Obama] wasn't in office for more than two months 'till he raised taxes on the middle class, which is what got him elected. He is now in office for over a year and had every environmental group backing him because he would never do offshore drilling, and he's just planned a map as of last week. This health-care situation has put another nail in the coffin, so, as far as I'm concerned, to the middle class and to the guy who works for himself, he [Obama] could care less."
He continued: "In my opinion, Democrats are elitists — they're just out of touch with what the regular American guy who works for himself does and think that they know better because we're a little bit less educated than they are, so they align themselves with [actor] Leonardo DiCaprio, who's telling us to stop wiping our ass with so much toilet paper when he owns nine fucking houses. [cracks up laughing] And they align themselves with [former Vice President] Al Gore, who says, 'Everybody's gotta have to have a carbon footprint.' And when you look a little bit deeper, he owns the only company that does that. [cracks up laughing]"
Ellsworth added: "So, really, that whole Democratic party, as far as I'm concerned, really stabs the guy who works for himself. I mean, it's an awful thing.
"People can hate what happened prior with the Republicans. We didn't really have the biggest, let's say, profile with regards to the world and what they thought of us, but the reality is that if you work for yourself, under the Republicans, you get to keep more of it and not give it away. The Democrats make bigger government and they say, 'We have to guide you, sheep.' [cracks up laughing]
"So, I'm not a big fan. [cracks up laughing]" OVERKILL's eighteenth album, "The Grinding Wheel", will be released on February 10 via Nuclear Blast. The disc was produced by OVERKILL and mixed by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, ACCEPT). The artwork was created again by Travis Smith (NEVERMORE, OPETH, SOILWORK, DEATH).

MASTODON To Release 'Emperor Of Sand' Album In March; Cover Artwork, Track Listing RevealedAccording to Apple's iTunes store in Australia, Atlanta progressive metallers MASTODON will release their new studio album, "Emperor Of Sand", on March 31 via Reprise Records.
The track listing for the effort is as follows:
01. Sultan's Curse02. Show Yourself03. Precious Stones04. Steambreather05. Roots Remain06. Word To The Wise07. Ancient Kingdom08. Clandestiny09. Andromeda10. Scorpion Breath11. Jaguar God
The lead song, "Sultan's Curse", which was previewed Wednesday night on MASTODON's official web site, can already be purchased via the Australian iTunes store.
MASTODON's follow-up to 2014's "Once More 'Round The Sun" album was once again helmed by famed producer Brendan O'Brien, who first collaborated with the band on their 2009 groundbreaking concept album "Crack The Skye".
MASTODON recorded the new disc at the Quarry in Kennesaw, Georgia before moving to Henson Studios in Los Angeles for the mixing stage.
MASTODON drummer-singer-lyricist Brann Dailor recently told Rolling Stone that the band's new album grapples with themes of mortality and was inspired by seeing close friends and family diagnosed with cancer in recent years. "Time is a very big theme of the album," Dailor said. "How much time do we have left? What are we doing with our time?"
"I get a little movie going in my head about a situation and I start writing about that," he added. "I try really hard to make it personal and relatable and not too esoteric. It's embarrassing to write lyrics. I'm a drummer, and I sing a little bit. Together we tackle these things and we figure it out — how to be this vocally driven band that has three people singing that don't want to sing."
He went on to say: "It's about going through cancer, going through chemotherapy and all the things associated with that. I didn't want to be literal about it. But it's all in there. You can read between the lines."
Regarding the musical direction of MASTODON's next album, guitarist Bill Kelliher told GuitarMania: "It's a little bit of the same as the last album, but I think it goes even deeper in certain areas — a couple of more psychedelic parts, a little more technical parts. There are a couple of new places we haven't gone before. So it's just kind of a continuation of the last record to me, but even deeper."
MASTODON has confirmed a spring U.S. headline tour, which will kick off on April 14 in Missoula, Montana, with support from EAGLES OF DEATH METAL and RUSSIAN CIRCLES. The tour also includes stops at several festivals, including the Carolina Rebellion on May 5. 6

Deluxe Edition Of 'Singles' Soundtrack To Include Previously Unreleased Recordings By CHRIS CORNELL, MIKE MCCREADYEpic Soundtrax and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Cameron Crowe's groundbreaking romantic comedy "Singles" with the release of a newly expanded and remastered edition of the "Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - Deluxe Edition" album on Friday, May 19.
The newly expanded "Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - Deluxe Edition" is being offered in 2CD, 2LP and digital configurations and is available for pre-order now.
The 2LP edition features the album's original 13 tracks newly mastered and freshly pressed across four sides of collectible 12" vinyl. The bonus CD of rarities and unreleased tracks (Disc 2 in the 2CD set) is included as a special insert in the 2LP 12" vinyl package.
The newly released bonus CD (included in both the 2LP and 2CD deluxe editions of the "Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - Deluxe Edition" album) features previously unreleased recordings by Chris Cornell, Mike McCready, MUDHONEY and Paul Westerberg in addition to rarities such as Cornell's 1992 EP "Poncier" (debuting an early rendition of "Spoonman") and tracks from the film not included on the best-selling soundtrack album first released on June 30, 1992.
The success of "Singles" helped establish a then-emerging new generation of rock artists — including 2017 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees PEARL JAM, ALICE IN CHAINS and SOUNDGARDEN — as musical forces to be reckoned with.
The expanded edition of the "Singles" soundtrack includes, for the first time on CD, "Touch Me I'm Dick", the signature track from "Singles" performed by CITIZEN DICK (a fictional band created for the film featuring frontman Matt Dillon backed by PEARL JAM's Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament).
The new Epic Soundtrax/Legacy Recordings edition of the "Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - Deluxe Edition" includes liner notes — and a track-by-track description of the album's music — written for especially for this collection by Cameron Crowe, the screenwriter and director of "Singles". The newly expanded edition of the film's soundtrack is produced by Danny Bramson and Cameron Crowe and mastered by Mike Piacentini at Battery Studios, New York.
Set in Seattle at the beginning of the 1990s, Crowe's film featured music by relatively obscure (at that time) bands like PEARL JAM, ALICE IN CHAINS and SOUNDGARDEN, providing an introduction to an emerging grunge rock music scene for a welcoming mainstream audience. The film became a cult classic while the soundtrack achieved RIAA double-platinum status in the US.
A romantic comedy capturing the zeitgeist of an era, "Singles" helped define the look, sound, attitude and style of Generation X with a fresh-faced ensemble cast featuring Bridget Fonda, Campbell Scott, Kyra Sedgwick, Matt Dillon, Bill Pullman, Sheila Kelly, Jim True-Frost, James LeGros, Ally Walker, Jeremy Piven, Eric Stoltz, Tim Burton and more.
Crowe's groundbreaking film chronicling the lives of Seattle's twentysomethings touched a nerve in the culture while the movie's best-selling soundtrack — with tracks from new artists and classic rockers —provided a critical overview of the roots of grunge and the essential contributions of Seattle rock. Alongside new songs like ALICE IN CHAINS' "Would?" and PEARL JAM's "Breath" and "State Of Love And Trust" stood the JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE's "May This Be Love" and a breathtaking cover of LED ZEPPELIN's "The Battle Of Evermore" performed by THE LOVEMONGERS (a musical side project created by HEART's Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson).
The first edition of the "Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - Deluxe Edition" was originally released on June 30, 1992 and became a chart-topping best-seller three months prior to the theatrical release of the film. The soundtrack included music from key bands from the Seattle music scene — including ALICE IN CHAINS, PEARL JAM and SOUNDGARDEN — while Paul Westerberg, in his first solo recordings outside THE REPLACEMENTS — contributed two songs and provided the score for the film. SMASHING PUMPKINS were also featured on the soundtrack with the song "Drown".
"The album itself was always designed to be sort of an anti-soundtrack, more like a souvenir and a simple mix-tape of some of Seattle's finest," said Cameron Crowe. "It really is and was a tribute to those hard-working bands that welcomed me to their city with open arms, and the music so many still love so much. Anyway, here we are now revisiting 'Singles', the film, as well as the soundtrack you hold in your hands, expanded with a special tip of the hat to the fans of the original release. Included are unreleased and raw elements that helped shape the experience of making the movie back in 1991. Hope you enjoy the trip back as much as I did — Viva Seattle!"
25 years ago, the film "Singles" and its soundtrack worked together to bring the underground Seattle music scene to the forefront of mainstream consciousness. The album was among the first top-selling movie soundtracks of the 1990s to showcase new material from emerging contemporary bands. The expanded edition of "Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - Deluxe Edition" is cause to celebrate anew the radical rock sounds that radiated out of the American Northwest a quarter century ago and changed pop music forever.

Sweden's GRAVEYARD Is Back!Only four months after announcing that they were calling it quits, Swedish rockers GRAVEYARD have reformed. The band's new lineup will not include drummer Axel Sjöberg, who is apparently focusing on his new outfit called BIG KIZZ.
GRAVEYARD — which most recently consisted of Sjöberg slongside guitarist and vocalist Joakim Nilsson, guitarist Jonatan Larocca-Ramm, and bassist Truls Mörck — released four full-length albums, the latest one being 2015's "Innocence & Decadence".
In a new statement on Facebook announcing GRAVEYARD's return, the band wrote: "Living isn't always easy and playing in a band doesn't tend to make the noble art of living well any easier.
"Things weren't working and in the end a change in the lineup was the only option for our return.
"GRAVEYARD's journey will continue with a yet to be named new future drummer and the reasons behind this change of scenery are something that we don't want, wish or will comment on. We're gonna leave it be with Axel's own words: 'Word on the street is that there is a job opening in the drummer's section.'
"We wish Axel all the best and you can follow his next move with his already set to fly new outfit BIG KIZZ. We'd also like to apologize to each and every one of you out there for putting you through these uncertain GRAVEYARD times.
"With that said, we're beyond glad to announce that as of today the GRAVEYARD is officially re-opened for business. Albums will be recorded, shows will be played and all of this hopefully for a long, long time to come."
GRAVEYARD's breakup in September 2016 was attributed to "the all-so-classic reason 'differences within the band.'" The group explained at the time: "This is the unfortunate final decision we've had to make after going through a period of struggling and juggling with personal issues. Things have gone out of hand and now our energy is very low."

SLAYER Explains Disappearing TRUMP Photo: We Have Never Endorsed Any Political Party Or Any CandidateSLAYER has issued a statement in response to the controversy that arose when a photoshopped picture of Donald Trump and the members of the band appeared on their Instagram account. SLAYER frontman Tom Araya posted the image and later criticized fans who objected to the photo, saying that he "thought it was funny" and that anyone who disagrees should keep quiet. "I never would have guessed that there where so many snowflakes commenting their distaste for the new president," he wrote. "Like him or not he is the president."
"As was verified by Tom, this was his post, is not something the band would have posted if asked, and does not belong on a SLAYER social page," the band's representative told Rolling Stone in a statement. "We all have our personal opinions, some of which we have voiced in the past, but SLAYER has never endorsed any political party or any candidate, and the band intends to keep it that way."
The same image first appeared on the official SLAYER Instagram account on inauguration day, but was mysteriously removed before being reposted on Tuesday.
"Believe it or not, this picture was posted by me Tom Araya on 1/20 'cause I thought it was funny," the SLAYER frontman wrote yesterday. "I was amazed at the comments about the picture some positive some negative more amazing was in two hours there was 10,000 likes ... But I never would have guessed that there [were] so many snowflakes commenting their distaste for the new president. Like him or not he is the president ... Woke up the next morning and found someone had deleted the post ... Can someone please explain why...?"
Araya later appeared to make a homophobic joke while replying to fans in the post's comments section. "Mike Pence turning fruits into vegetables," he wrote with laughing emojis. He added: "Thanks ... to everybody that has commented thanks for insight... this is how fake news gets started, not once did I say that I supported Trump... and assuming I speak for the band you are mistaking [sic] .. the picture did exactly what I thought it would do... piss some of you off."
SLAYER's Kerry King last year told Rolling Stone that Hillary Clinton was "the safe, correct choice" for president of the United States. He explained at the time: "Trump is just a sideshow. I'm not even going to apologize to all the Trump followers. I think the reason he's so popular is because he's like the politics version of WWE. He's sensational like wrestling and that's why middle America loves him. He's the biggest liar I've ever seen in politics. I mean, most of them are liars, but he just outright in-your-face lies."
King's words were echoed by his SLAYER bandmate Gary Holt who described Donald Trump as a "serial liar" who refused to disavow former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard David Duke. He said: "People might think some of the things he says, but you can't have a president calling Rosie O'Donnell a 'fat bitch.' [Laughs] It's, like, dude, do you even hear yourself? He won't even condemn David Duke's support. He pretended he doesn't know who he is. I'm a fucking headbanger who's done more drugs before getting sober than most people have ever seen on TV, and I've been drinking since I was 17, although in recent years much less, and I know who the fuck he is. Donald Trump is running for president and he [doesn't] know who the former grandmaster of the KKK is. That was your moment, Donald Trump, to say… you know, to condemn the man, basically, but you pretended you were just ignorant of who he was, 'cause you don't wanna fuck with that vote. There are some fucking hillbillies out there who you want voting for you."
Holt went on to say that he is "in many ways a Republican" but that he hasn't been able to find "a candidate up there who wasn't walked around on a leash by the Christian evangelicals, because they're the death of the conservative movement anyway. And if they just stay out of women's wombs and just actually concentrate on running a country and not being beholden to those people, I would vote Republican in a second."
SLAYER will hit the road in South America and Europe this spring before returning for more dates in the U.S. this summer. 4

NICKELBACK Signs Worldwide Deal With BMG, Preps Ninth Studio AlbumBMG has announced it has signed a worldwide recording agreement with chart-topping, multi-platinum rock band NICKELBACK. Currently in the studio, the band is working on material for a new full-length album, to be released via BMG, and is planning a major announcement slated for February 1. BMG is distributed worldwide by ADA, a division of the Warner Music Group.
Since forming in Alberta, Canada in 1995, globally celebrated, Grammy-nominated rock band NICKELBACK has cemented itself as one of the most commercially viable and important acts of the past two decades. NICKELBACK's success includes worldwide sales of more than 50 million units, solidifying their status as the "eleventh best-selling music act" and second best-selling foreign act in the U.S. of the 21st century — behind only THE BEATLES.
BMG U.S. president, repertoire and marketing, Zach Katz, said: "We are thrilled to welcome the legendary NICKELBACK to BMG. For us, the opportunity to work side by side with a band of their caliber, with an exceptional body of work reaching the highest levels of global success, truly speaks for itself. We are excited to let the world experience their extraordinary new music soon."
NICKELBACK adds: "We are honored to partner with the global BMG team and look forward to releasing new music for our fans. Sharing our vision and passion with such a dedicated team while being surrounded by some of the greatest music artists of all time is very humbling and we couldn't be more excited."
In June 2015, NICKELBACK canceled the majority of its tour dates in support of the band's eighth album, "No Fixed Address", so that singer Chad Kroeger could recover from surgery to remove a cyst on his vocal cords.
NICKELBACK filed a $13 million insurance claim with Lloyd's of London after scrapping the tour. But Lloyd's sued to cancel the singer's insurance, alleging that Kroeger already had the throat condition and failed to disclose it before taking out the policy.
Last year, NICKELBACK countersued Lloyd's, claiming that the firm is making false allegations about the band so that it doesn't have to pay out the claim.
"No Fixed Address" debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 album chart in November 2014. 1

CHICKENFOOT's 'Best + Live' To Include First New Song In Five Years, 'Divine Termination'Supergroup CHICKENFOOT will release "Divine Termination", its first new tune in five years on "Best + Live", the band's first-ever best-of collection, on March 10. CHICKENFOOT features legendary guitarist Joe Satriani, former VAN HALEN singer Sammy Hagar, ex-VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith.
In addition to "Divine Termination", "Best + Live" includes over 90 minutes of live music "Best + Live" for the first time released on CD. Hagar says: "Listening to this collection of songs from the 'FOOT brings back memories of some of the most fun I've ever had in a band. The chemistry between Chad, Joe, Mike and me is very special. It's almost like visual music — you can see us having fun when you listen to these songs."
In May 2016, CHICKENFOOT reunited for two highly-anticipated one-time shows at Harrah's Lake Tahoe, and played their first complete set in more than six years, along with a special unveiling of the new tune "Divine Termination". Satriani describes the track as "bone-crunching, hell-raising rock, dripping with attitude and vibe. Just the way CHICKENFOOT likes it!" Both the extra CD "Live" and the bonus tracks on the best of feature a 13-song strong setlist, including almost every song from CHICKENFOOT's debut album as well as Hagar's old MONTROSE classic "Bad Motor Scooter", THE WHO's "My Generation" and Satriani's interpretation of "The Star-Spangled Banner" — all recorded live in Phoenix 2009 and available for the first time on CD (previously only available as video on the DVD/Blu-ray "Get Your Buzz On"). "Best + Live" track listing:
CD1 – Best Of
01. Divine Termination (brand new song)02. Soap On A Rope03. Sexy Little Thing04. Oh Yeah05. Get It Up06. Future In The Past07. Big Foot08. Different Devil09. Lighten Up10. Dubai Blues11. Something Going Wrong Bonus Live Tracks:

CHICKENFOOT has not made a new CD in five years but returned to the studio to record "Divine Termination".
"I wrote the lyrics while on an airplane to Cabo," Hagar told Rolling Stone about the song. "It's a dark tune, but it's fucking cool. It's a really raw production and a giant step for the 'FOOT."
Satriani told The Oakland Press that he is not holding his breath for a new album from CHICKENFOOT. "It'll always be upsetting to me, the fact [the band] is under-realized," Satriani said. "That befuddles me still. However, the other guys do have plenty of things to do, and I suppose maybe I get it. But when I think about it from an artistic point of view, it just seems ridiculous that we didn't do more. It just seems completely wrong."
CHICKENFOOT reissued its gold-selling 2009 self-titled debut as a double-disc set. The new version features bonus live tracks recorded on the group's tour behind its sophomore studio effort, "III".
CHICKENFOOT's most recent touring lineup included legendary drummer/musician Kenny Aronoff, who was filling in for Smith while Chad was on the road with RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS.
"III" sold 42,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 9 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's self-titled debut opened with 49,000 units back in June 2009 to debut at No. 6. 1

RIGHTEOUS VENDETTA Announce New Album CursedWyoming-based metalcore stalwarts Righteous Vendetta have announced the release of their forthcoming studio record, Cursed, on March 17th via Century Media Records. The new album was produced by Mitch Marlow (In This Moment, Stitched Up Heart) and is preceded by the band's 2014 EP Defiance.
Speaking on the creative journey behind the making of Cursed, the band states:
"After two years of writing and recording we are beyond excited to finally release this album with Century Media. For anyone that follows us, they know this has been a long process. But patience has paid off, because we feel that we have crafted the best album we possibly can."
“We challenged ourselves and pushed our creative limits,” states frontman Ryan Hayes. From the riffy hard rock bludgeon of opening track, “War Is Killing Us All” to the radio-ready hook-fest of “Weight Of The World”, Cursed is the sound of a band moving from strength to strength. “We wrote 30, 40 songs and really figured out who we are in the process.” Add to that a non-stop itinerary of live shows where the energized five-piece ensnare new fans and followers, Righteous Vendetta are burning rubber on their way to contender status.
In addition to their upcoming record, Righteous Vendetta will hit the road next month on a US tour building up the release of Cursed. In anticipation of these dates, members of the band state:
"Along with the release of our new album we are announcing a bunch of tour dates. We are excited to get back on a heavy touring schedule and return to some of our favorite cities!"

Ex-QUEENSRŸCHE Singer GEOFF TATE: Video Highlights Of Clearwater Acoustic ConcertFormer QUEENSRŸCHE and current OPERATION: MINDCRIME frontman Geoff Tate performed at the Capitol Theatre in in Clearwater, Florida on Tuesday, January 24 as part of his all-acoustic tour. Tate was backed by a seven-piece acoustic band of musicians from the United States and Ireland, with three guitar players, mandolin, cello, saxophone, violin and multiple percussion instruments producing high-energy acoustic versions of some of QUEENSRŸCHE's most recognized songs that included "Silent Lucidity", "Jet City Woman", "Empire", "I Don't Believe In Love" and "Eyes Of A Stranger".
A nine-minute video clip containing highlights of the Clearwater concert can be seen below.
Tate recently told Dutch radio/TV station RTV Parkstad about his acoustic tour: "I'm doing an acoustic performance of my life story in music. Songs from all of the different records, and done in an acoustic fashion with acoustic guitar, mandolin, violin, cello, and an interesting percussion instrument called a cajón, which I believe is an Irish instrument. I have Scott Moughton on acoustic guitar, who also plays with me in my OPERATION: MINDCRIME project, and the rest of the lads are in an Irish band from Cork, Ireland called THE BAND ANNA. They're a fantastic band that my wife and I saw playing in a city park in Cork last summer. We loved their energy and their attitude, and we hired them to be our band for this tour. They're fantastic, a great bunch of guys. Very enthusiastic and wonderful musicians."
Regarding what fans can expect from his acoustic shows, Geoff said: "They can expect a lot of stories. I have stories for all the music that I'm playing. Interesting stories about the songs or how they were written, or interesting antidotes as to what happened while making that song. Stuff that I always wanted to know when I would read a book about a musician. I always wanted to know, 'How did you come up with that idea? Or what led to that idea?' I tell a lot of stories and the music is very intimate. When you play acoustically, it's interesting because you're reversing how the song was written in a sense. Most songs, in my experience, are written on either an acoustic guitar or piano, then you start building them up to what they become for the record. You add different guitars and drums, and that kind of thing. This is reverse engineering. You're bringing the song back to where it started, which I like."
"Resurrection", the second album from OPERATION: MINDCRIME, was released last September via Frontiers Music Srl. The album is the second part of Tate's musical trilogy.

JOE ELLIOTT, PERRY FARRELL, GAVIN ROSSDALE Salute DAVID BOWIE In Los AngelesAccording to The Pulse Of Radio, DEF LEPPARD's Joe Elliott, JANE'S ADDICTION's Perry Farrell, BUSH's Gavin Rossdale and Sting performed on Tuesday night (January 24) at Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles for the "Celebrating David Bowie" show. In addition to such legendary Bowie side musicians as guitarists Earl Slick and Adrian Belew, pianist Mike Garson, and bassist Gail Ann Dorsey, other guest vocalists included Sting's son, Joe Sumner, Donovan's son, Donovan Leitch, and longtime THE ROLLING STONES backing singer Bernard Fowler.
Highlights included Sting's renditions of Bowie's "Blackstar" and "Lazarus", with Elliott tackling "Suffragette City" and the Bowie-written and -produced MOTT THE HOOPLE classic "All The Young Dudes", and Farrell taking on "Golden Years". The show, which has already hit London and New York City, played again last night (Wednesday, January 25) at the Wiltern — without Sting — and continues on the road playing on February 2 in Tokyo.
Although thought of as perhaps the most theatrical force in all of rock, David Bowie always regarded performance as a way to enhance his music — not detract from it. "The impact of the show has to be the astounding thing — not the dressing of it, y'know?" he said. "It's a sort, of perfunctory kind of thing. But, the content has to astound. I mean, you can dress a show with a trillion dollars, or a trillion pounds worth of goodies, but if the show is not substantial, there will be no impact."

BLACK THERAPY Announce Lineup Change; Post “Theogony” Guitar Playthrough VideoFollowing the addition of their new guitar player Andrea Mataloni, Black Therapy have announced another change within their lineup. Bassist Alessandro has left the band and founding member and longtime guitarist Lorenzo Carlini will now handle bass duties. With that, the band has announced the addition of a new guitarist, Davide Celletti.
The band states: “We want to thank Alessandro for all the great time spent together, it's been awesome to share this journey with him. Davide already helped us out during our show in Bologna, proving himself to be a great addiction to the lineup. You can see him in action on this playthrough for ‘Theogony’ from our new album In The Embrace Of Sorrow, I Smile, out now via Apostasy Records!”
For all people that way too often feel deep grief and seek desperately for a way out, Black Therapy’s second full-length album delivers the perfect credo: In The Embrace Of Sorrow, I Smile.
Besides their self-released EP Through This Path, their debut-album Symptoms Of A Common Sickness and numerous live-shows (alongside bands like Nile, Ex Deo, Dark Lunacy, Arch Enemy, November) their EP The Final Outcome in 2014 attracted a lot of attention outside of Italy. In the 16th Cellar Studio (Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hour Of Penance, Hideous Divinity) arose their new musical sign of life which comes even closer to the vision of the Italian melodic death metal five-piece.

BORN OF OSIRIS Debut “Empires Erased” Music VideoBorn Of Osiris have released a video for “Empires Erased”, featured on their upcoming release, The Eternal Reign, out on February 24th via Sumerian Records. The clip is available for streaming below.
In regards to The Eternal Reign (The New Reign completely re-recorded and re-envisioned, including the brand new song “Glorious Day”), guitarist Lee McKinney comments: “We are beyond excited to break the silence on what we've been up to this past year. 10 years ago we were seniors in high school in Chicago and spent our spring break recording a record that we had no idea would massively impact our lives. The New Reign was something we all believed in, and for that reason we were all anxious and curious to see how it would be taken.
“This past year we decided to re-record our debut. I know what you're thinking.... "they took the album and sent it to someone else to re-mix / re-master and they are going to re-package and re-sell it." Wrong! We went to the studio, re-recorded the entire thing, changed guitar riffs/drum parts/bass/vocals and even recorded a new song that I wish made it onto the original version 10 years ago. This song "Glorious Day" was made before some of the other songs that made the original recording.
“I must say, it's crazy to still be in our 20's and be on a 10 year anniversary. I'm so thankful for this... and I must thank the fans for supporting us every step of the way, as well as Sumerian Records for believing in us all of this time.
“So to go along with such a monumental occasion, we give you The New Reign Tour to go along with this release. We are going to play this record for you now that we as a band and production are better and tighter than ever. Joining us, Volumes, and some more new friends on what should be one of the most meaningful Born Of Osiris tours to date.”
Sumerian Founder, Ash Avildsen states: “The New Reign was a seminal album for both Born Of Osiris and Sumerian Records. 10 years later, it is getting a well-deserved rebirth as they have re-created it from scratch. I believe fans, old and new, will be excited to hear these songs come to life re-imagined both musically and production wise."

DEMONIC RESURRECTION Debut Lyric Video For “Matsya - The Fish”Indian metal veterans, Demonic Resurrection, have released a lyric video for “Matsya - The Fish”, the lead track from their upcoming fifth full length album. The clip can be found below.
The new album is titled Dashavatar, which translates to 'the ten avatars of Vishnu', who is the 'the god of preservation' in Hindu mythology. The album is scheduled to release on March 15th and it will be independently released by the band, who were signed to Candlelight Records for their last two albums.
The band's vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Demonstealer comments, "Our previous album, The Demon King, was born from the idea of writing about 'Ravan' who is a demon king from Hindu mythology and while we wrote our own story from scratch it did kind of set the tone of where we want to go from there. My fiancé was the one who told me the rather gruesome tale of Narasimha the 'man-lion' avatar of Vishnu which really made me look at mythology rather differently and it made for a great idea to write a song about each of the avatars of Vishnu, since they were very interesting stories. It was pretty obvious then that the album had to be called Dashavatar."
Artwork has been made by Indian artist Reuben Bhattacharya (Visual Amnesia) who explains it in more detail: “Ten ancient gods in one and the band's most death metal sounding album, it had epic written all over it. So when Sahil got in touch with me with the brilliant idea of Dashavatar, i just had to give life to this vision. Since the idea itself of India's premier metal band doing something from Indian mythology itself is a polarizing one, I had a dual responsibility to create a Vishnu that hadn't been seen before and one that was demonical and true to the band's legacy as well. The amount of reference material to go through with this was ridiculous but i find studying and absorbing ancient lore and myths fascinating. Painting a completely new version of Vishnu was a worthy challenge i set myself and chased relentlessly. Of course it was not easy re-imagining a godly image so deep rooted in our culture; with so many layers both in meaning and sensitivity and how it relates to the stories of the 10 avatars on their respective tracks on the album. This the alien hyper god of the multiverse preserving the might of all that is good in his bolt of lightning, as the avatars fight of the sneering serpents of evil, all avatars united as one combined mega force in a central battle at the lair of all creation. Remember this image is not as a religious god, this is a metal god \m/"
