Exclusive: KILLSET Premier “Killers In The Pit” Video

Exclusive: KILLSET Premier “Killers In The Pit” Video

KillSET is the combination of a professional, well-oiled (finely tuned) metal machine and an explosive, super charged charismatic front man - as evidenced by their upcoming album, S.T.F.U. (release date: June 23rd). Having been produced by Eddie Wohl (Fuel, Smile Empty Soul, ill Niño, 36 Crazyfists) and mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, ill Niño, Sepultura), this sophomore effort is polished and ready to take over the world. The leadoff single/video, “Killers In The Pit,” serves as the perfect introduction to the unique flavor of the band with crushing riffs, shouted vocals, and heavy-duty rhythms.

“’Killers In The Pit,’ is simply a song for our fans, the Killers!,” explains the band. “It’s for everyone that supports our music. It’s for everyone that takes the time out of their lives to come down to our shows and tear up the place with us! It's about finding a positive and fun way to get rid of that extra energy and stress that so many people feel in their lives. We decided to drop this single first because music needs some flavor right now and we're bringing that not only with this track, but the whole S.T.F.U. album! As it says in the song...let's show the world!!!”

Other standout tracks include “Get Up” and a cover of Kris Kross’ ‘90s hit, “Jump,” which are among the favorites of the band and singer Luca.

The band: "It's not how many times you fall. It's how many times you get up! We all get knocked down in this life, but the true test of a person is taking those hits and having the strength to get back up. No matter the trials and tribulations that one may face, we must overcome! We must GET UP!”

Luca: "When I suggested ‘Jump’ as a cover, I was really surprised the guys were down.  We started jamming and messing around with it, and it became obvious that this was the cover we needed to do and that we also needed to go all out and shoot a parody music video!  So I wrote the script and then we went to thrift stores and bought the biggest jeans they had, timberland boots, leather woven belts, boomboxes, jerseys, cross colours clothes and I had my mom send out my old pager and the rest is history...haha. The song came out sick and I think it was by far the most fun any of us have ever had shooting a music video!"

KillSET was created when former ARCM members, James "Jas" Dillon (Drums), Mark Baker (Bass), and Dave Comer (Guitars), combined forces with new singer Luca (Choleric). Instantly, there was an addictive atmosphere in the writing process that could not be denied. The contributions and writing styles of each member seemed to perfectly complement one another's individual uniqueness, to create a sound that beautifully kills.

KillSET then joined forces with renowned producer, Eddie Wohl (Fuel, Smile Empty Soul, ill Nino, 36 Crazyfists) and completed their debut full-length album Know Your Killer, demonstrating their signature sound of pure ferocity and simple beauty. The overwhelming support of the freshman album allowed KillSET the opportunities to share the stage with Fear Factory, Otep, Red, Adrenaline Mob, Flaw, Nothing More, and Saliva.  The band then chose to embark on another musical journey, again collaborating with producer Eddie Wohl, which has culminated in a sophomore effort that will undoubtedly impact anyone who dares to listen. With the ability to transcend the current generic norm, the new album, S.T.F.U. has a diversity and flavor that is simply undeniable - which fans will soon hear for themselves.

Tracklisting:

“Get Up”
“Bully”
“Killers In The Pit”
“Tomorrow”
“Broken Angel”
“Jump”
“How Dare You”

“Don’t Let Me Die”

TENGGER CAVALRY Release "Cursed" Lyric Video

TENGGER CAVALRY Release "Cursed" Lyric Video

June 2nd will mark the release of Global Music Award-winning nomadic folk metal group Tengger Cavalry's new full-length album, Die On My Ride. Tengger Cavalry is introducing a third track into the mix. "Cursed" is a more introspective look at breaking down personal barriers risen by oneself and others.

"'Cursed' is about breaking barriers," says frontman Nature G. "Society has always put up different mental and physical barriers barring individuals just trying to achieve their dreams. You are too short, you are minority, you are a female not a man, you are from somewhere else, you don't look good enough. All these disadvantages that we think we are born with, are like a curse to us. We are cursed for believing these barriers, aren't we? No, we are not. We need to break this barrier of belief. We need to strike it and claim who we are supposed to be. Cursed, or rise above the curse."

The new album expands on the band's celebrated, exotic metal-meets-Mongolian/Central Asian musical influence and lyrical explorations of tradition, history and warfare by delving into more topical themes of personally-experienced racial discrimination, identity conflicts and equal rights issues.

Die On My Ride was self-produced at Nature G's production studio Raiding Media, and is available to pre-order now in both physical CD and vinyl format via M-Theory Audio or digitally via the band's Bandcamp page.

Tracklisting:

The album is distributed by AISA/RED in North America.

Just a day after the album drops, the band will kick off a 25+ date North American headline tour featuring support from Venezuelan world music/progressive fusion guitarist Felix Martin and pagan folk metal group Helsott.

WISHBONE ASH Welcome New Guitarist MARK ABRAHAMS

WISHBONE ASH Welcome New Guitarist MARK ABRAHAMS

Wishbone Ash, one of the most influential guitar bands in the history of rock, recently announced a lineup change. After more than a decade of making albums and touring the world with the band, guitarist Muddy Manninen has left to pursue his own musical interests.

“It's been a very rewarding relationship with some great work being laid down, from Clan Destiny to Blue Horizon,” said bandleader Andy Powell (guitar, lead vocals). “We sincerely thank Muddy and wish him good luck on his solo project, currently well under way.”

Jumping into the fray as Muddy's replacement - and the ninth in a long and illustrious line of guitar players that form part of the fabled Wishbone Ash twin-lead section - is Mark Abrahams, who has been preparing for this gig since the tender age of 9, when he first picked up a guitar and started to figure out some of those well-known lines that have inspired generations of guitar players.

“It was the sound of the twin lead guitars that first caught my attention. The sound was different to any other music I had heard up until that point,” Mark said. “A couple of years after my first discovery of Wishbone Ash, my dad had a couple of VHS videos of the reunion gigs, and I would sit and watch them for hours. I was hooked!”

“I'm happy to say Mark's a Les Paul and Strat man; these two guitars have always been an important part of Wishbone's sound,” Powell said. “He also plays Elvidge Custom Guitars.”

The owner of Vision Guitars in Castleford, Yorkshire, UK, Mark has worked in musical instrument retail since leaving Leeds College of Music in 1997. Most recently with Yorkshire band Coyote, Mark has played 100 dates a year, and has toured with Ron Thal (ex-Guns N' Roses) and Graham Oliver, Steve Dawson's version of Saxon.

Mark's debut performance with Wishbone Ash will be at the upcoming Sweden Rock festival (June 9th), alongside the likes of Kings X, Aerosmith and the Scorpions.

“I've been overwhelmed by the response from Wishbone Ash fans, and I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to you all for the positive comments and 'welcomes' to the band,” said Mark. “Thank you! It means a lot to this Yorkshire lad who's just had the dream of a lifetime come true.”

“It's going to be an exciting new phase for Wishbone Ash,” said Powell. “Come and check us out on the road as we welcome Mark Abrahams into the band.”

BYZANTINE Release “New Ways To Bear Witness” Music Video

BYZANTINE Release “New Ways To Bear Witness” Music Video

On July 28th, Byzantine will release their new album, The Cicada Tree, via Metal Blade Records. Heralded as the most underrated band from the New Wave of American Heavy Metal Movement, Byzantine has slowly gained a cult-like following after releasing five genre-bending albums. 16 years underground, it's finally time for the world to hear Byzantine.

For a first preview of The Cicada Tree, a new video for the single "New Ways To Bear Witness" (featuring a cameo by Skeletonwitch's Dustin Boltjes, as well as ex-Byzantine drummer Matt Wolfe) has been launched online. Directed/edited by Holly Siders, the filming of "New Ways To Bear Witness" resulted in Chris "OJ" Ojeda (vocals, rhythm guitar) suffering a concussion.

OJ comments about the experience: "So, we came up with an idea of having our old drummer do a cameo appearance in the music video. Matt Wolfe left the band right before we signed with Metal Blade and had occupied the drum seat for the last 12 years. We felt it was a perfect opportunity to let fans know that we still love Matt and he’s still welcome and important to our band. What's the best way to have an ousted band member make a cameo? To hit me with a vehicle, of course! We set up the scene and did about 5 or 6 takes of Wolfe hitting me with the vehicle and me rolling off the vehicle. I didn't know until we wrapped shooting the next day that something was wrong and had a very hard time driving home. I contacted an ER doctor friend of mine who told me I needed to come see him ASAP. After a CT Scan and an EKG, he let me know I had a standard sports type concussion from repeatedly hitting my head during the video shoot. I got 3 days off work and a cool story out of it! Rock!"

Watch the new video below.

The new album can be pre-ordered here in the following formats:

- CD
- 180g black 2LP + etching (limited to 150 copies - USA exclusive)
- peach orange marbled 2LP + etching (limited to 350 copies - USA exclusive)
- clear pastel rose 2LP + etching (limited to 100 copies - EU exclusive)

* exclusive bundles with a shirt, plus digital options are also available

In conjunction with PledgeMusic, The Cicada Tree can also be pre-ordered here, where you can reserve your copy of the album, signed material from the band, apparel, and more.

To state that The Cicada Tree is "classic Byzantine" in no way implies that this is an album solely rooted in the band's past. Certainly, all of the hallmarks that have made their sound so compelling for close to two decades are present and correct: muscular yet lithe riffs and fluid leads play against gripping, dynamic and at times unpredictable rhythms, while rich melodies and lyrics that are both involved and intelligent wind their way through every track. But, once more, the groove metal unit has continued their steady evolution - the interplay between their members organic and natural, imbuing the record's sixty-two-minute running time with a freshness and urgency.

Founding member Chris "OJ" Ojeda states, "The first few albums, you're trying to find your sound, and sometimes you tend to not see the forest for the trees. Now, on album number six, it seems a calmness took hold during the songwriting process, possibly from just having more confidence in our sound. At this point, our fans expect us to experiment and push our boundaries, which is an extremely liberating feeling."

THE POWER OF PAIN Launch Music Video For “Tastes Like H8” Featuring EXODUS Frontman STEVE "ZETRO" SOUZA

THE POWER OF PAIN Launch Music Video For “Tastes Like H8” Featuring EXODUS Frontman STEVE "ZETRO" SOUZA

Castro Valley, California, based groove metal act The Power Of Pain have released a new single and video for the track "Tastes Like H8”, a song tackling the subject of teen bullying, featuring Exodus singer Steve “Zetro” Souza. The song, taken from their newly released album, My Dark Secret, was produced by Juan Urteaga (Testament, Exodus, Machine Head) at Trident Studios, with additional tracking done at Green Day's Jingle Town Studio. Video production duties were handled by Wayne Marsala (Testament, Exodus). Watch below.

Formed in 2015 by long time bay area guitarist Mike Roberts (Misery / Bleed The Freaks), The Power Of Pain picked up where Bleed The Freaks left off, keeping fellow Bleed The Freaks guitarist Josh Bailey on board. The two assembled a new band, completed by singer Chris Carlton, bassist Zack Brown, and drummer Steve Rubio, and went straight to the studio.

"Bleed The Freaks went through a bad break up," reflects Roberts. "I felt that everyone had given up on me, but perseverance was my goal. Having a full CD of music ready to go, I just forged on," he states. The result is My Dark Secret, a ten song slab of top shelf groove metal, rounded out by a cover of the UFO classic, "Natural Thing”.”

A guitarist since 1980, Mike Roberts grew up in the heart of the bay area scene, literally watching the beginning of thrash metal unfold. Friends he made in the early years would go onto major stardom, including Steve 'Zetro' Souza, who lent his signature vocal snarl to the new record.

"Zet and I are childhood friends and long time Raiders fans together," says Roberts. "I had written the song with him in mind. Zet is a true professional. He came in the studio and sang the song in one take. We filmed the video on his birthday. I'm very grateful that he is a part of it."

My Dark Secret is available on iTunes and all major digital outlets now.

Tracklisting:

“Severed Ties”
“My Dark Secret”

RIVER BLACK Featuring MUNICIPAL WASTE, REVOCATION, BURNT BY THE SUN Members Streaming New Song “#Victim”

RIVER BLACK Featuring MUNICIPAL WASTE, REVOCATION, BURNT BY THE SUN Members Streaming New Song “#Victim”

“#Victim”, a track from River Black’s upcoming self-titled debut album is available for streaming below. The album will be released on July 7th via Season Of Mist. Pre-orders are available at this location.

River Black deliver the musical equivalent to a diamond-tipped drill to bore breathing-holes into the crusty rusted armour-plating of the metal-genre in order to let some fresh air into the all too often stale scene. Their powerful self-titled debut album impresses with undiluted aggression, precisely executed and dead on target. Based on an intimate knowledge of thrash metal history, the Americans have found a modern answer to this classic style, incorporating suitable elements of death, hardcore, and other influences. This is boosted by a massive sound that drops the bomb in your face.

The expertise that River Black demonstrate in craft and talent does not come out of the blue. Guitarist John Adubato and drummer David Witte (Municipal Waste) formed their new creative outlet after the dissolution of Burnt By The Sun. The veteran duo felt the need to keep the spirit and energy behind that former collective going, while pushing it a darker and heavier direction. To complete their dream team, Witte and Adubato recruited fellow Revocation bassist Brett Bamberger and former Burnt By The Sun collaborator Mike Olender for vocal duties.

On completion of their line-up, River Black recorded their first album at New Jersey’s Trax East studio with producer Eric Rachel. River Black are now ready to drive a vicious spike into the bubble of metallic complacency. Crank up the volume and let River Black hit home hard. Impact is imminent.

Vocalist Mike Olender comments on behalf of River Black: "Our first track out, “Low” is an expression of horror at how religion can become twisted and manipulated by charlatans and demagogues. It was inspired by a news report, I heard about a journalist, who spent some time with the now-deceased Isis leader 'Johnny Jihad'. It revealed how this man used brutality with the purpose of inspiring others with similarly twisted minds. He used videos of his actions as recruiting tools. I was struck by the thought that there are people out there, who not only wouldn't be repelled by these horrific videos, but actually excited and inspired by the images of this man gleefully sawing off the heads of the orange-clad victims kneeling before him. Faiths have always had these characters throughout history, but it is surreal to realize we are living in such dark historic times."

“Shipwreck”
“River Black”
“South by South”
“Boat”

RAGE - Seasons Of The Black Studio Trailer #3 Streaming

RAGE - Seasons Of The Black Studio Trailer #3 Streaming

The creativity and productivity of German heavy metal trio Rage seems to have no limits. Only 14 months after the successful The Devil Strikes Again neckbreaker, Rage deliver their new, 23rd studio album, entitled Seasons Of The Black, out  on July 28th via Nuclear Blast. An third official studio trailer can be found below.

"Our fans are getting Rage metal of the very first grade. We've been able to bring the band's typical trademarks into eleven new songs, and we're sticking to the course that we forged on the last album! This means hard and very catchy compositions that also sound thrash, aggressive and epic", says band leader Peavy.

Since the reorientation of 2015, the three band members have now fully adapted to each other and the lost harmony has been fully restored. "We are even better matched with each other," says Peavy. "We offer new ideas to each other like we’ve never done something else before! It also happened that we created a whole new song within just two hours from start to finish, from scratch! Regarding the production we were also able to prevent some complications, which had been an element of the last album due to a lack of experience. This time, everything worked perfectly."

Guitarist Marcos Rodriguez and drummer Vassilios "Lucky" Maniatopoulos have been long-time Rage fans from the very beginning. Their input also leaves its mark on their second album. "Marcos and Lucky well know the "classic" style-creating spirit of Rage so to speak, and on a personal level we all really like each other as well. This contributed to the possibility of continuing to develop and expanding the band’s spirit," the vocalist adds.

The stylistic connection between The Devil Strikes Again and Seasons Of The Black is also visually reflected in the artwork, once again created by graphic artist Karim König.

"We developed the idea together," says Peavy. “In this way we want to show that both albums belong together in their own way. I modelled the sonically inspired sculpture that dominates the cover on my own. As a basis, I used a very rare skull from my collection, which I poured myself and then re-modelled. Karim created the gloomy landscape with the Golgotha Hill."

The title song “Seasons Of The Black” will be the opener of the 11 track-album. “The song is very personal, it is about a failed life-long dream. Imagine being stamped to the ground and looking at the broken pieces of your existence. This sadly is a destiny that many people have to share. Most of the songs on the album include a very gloomy view of the world, so we thought “Seasons Of The Black” would be suitable for the entire album,” the vocalist, who founded Rage over three decades ago, sums up.

Seasons Of The Black was recorded in February / March 2017 at Megafon Studios (Burscheid, Germany) and at Soundchaser Studios (Zandhoven, Belgium). Its production was handled by Rage, whilst the renowned Dan Swanö (Marduk, Opeth, Katatonia) took care of the mix and mastering at Unisound Studios (Grefrath, Germany).

JAMES HETFIELD On Technical Issues During METALLICA

JAMES HETFIELD On Technical Issues During METALLICA's Performance With LADY GAGA: 'I Haven't Been That Angry In A Long Time'

James Hetfield says that the technical issues METALLICA faced during its performance with Lady Gaga at this year's Grammy Awards "ended up being a blessing" because it made the duet seem "more like a real collaboration."

METALLICA's appearance with Gaga at the 59th annual event in Los Angeles on February 12 turned into something of a disaster when the Grammy sound crew did not turn Hetfield's mic on, forcing him to share the mic with Gaga after the first verse and chorus.

As a further humiliation, presenter Laverne Cox did not even introduce METALLICA by name. At the end of the song, a visibly angry Hetfield hurled his guitar at a road crew member while kicking over his mic stand.

Asked by the New York Post if he thinks the microphone malfunction made the Grammy performance even more exciting, Hetfield said: "I felt embarrassed. I haven't been that angry in a long time. When something out of my control goes wrong, I still get wound up. I'm sure it taps into other stuff from my past, but I felt helpless. I agree, it ended up being a blessing because I ended up singing in a microphone with Lady Gaga — maybe even more than she wanted. It felt more like a real collaboration because of that."

Hetfield told the Chilean newspaper La Tercera that he wasn't interested in collaborating with Lady Gaga again or another pop artist in some capacity. But, he said, "Even just talking with her, being around her, her energy was very, very exciting. She has lots of ideas, and she likes to push the boundaries like we do. So it was a good fit."

Shortly after this year's Grammy Awards, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone that Gaga was the "quintessential perfect fifth member of this band," saying, "Her voice, her attitude, her outlook on everything is so awesome. [The performance] was so effortless and organic and she just has the spirit of hard rock and metal flowing through her veins. It comes really easy for her. There's nothing contrived; she just has this super warm, easy energy."

METALLICA was up for a Grammy this year for "Best Rock Song" for the track "Hardwired" from its new album, "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct", but lost to the late David Bowie's "Blackstar".

METALLICA - KIRK HAMMETT On Grammy Performance With LADY GAGA - "Kind Of Like A Throwback To The JETHRO TULL Fiasco"

METALLICA - KIRK HAMMETT On Grammy Performance With LADY GAGA - "Kind Of Like A Throwback To The JETHRO TULL Fiasco"

Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett recently spoke with Bobby Olivier of NJ.com about the ill-fated performance of "Moth Into Flame" at the 2017 Grammy Awards, back in February in Los Angeles, CA; an excerpt follows:

When asked what it was like backstage immediately after the mistake seen by millions, Hammett laughs: "Oh, not good! How about everyone screaming and yelling 'what the fuck?' For me, I kept thinking to myself 'it doesn't feel like sabotage, it feels like a real, honest mistake on someone's part.' But because we're human, and because we're competitive and want to do our best, sometimes an explanation like 'it's a simple mistake is just not satisfying enough'."

"But the next day I saw all the positive benefits of that chaotic performance," Hammett continues. "We got way more attention for the mic not working than we would have if we just played with Lady Gaga and pulled it off. It was kind of like a throwback to the Jethro Tull fiasco," he says of the 1989 blunder that saw Tull's Crest Of A Knave LP best Metallica's ... And Justice For All, in the hard-rock/metal category.

"We got more publicity back then losing to Jethro Tull than we did if we would've won that Grammy," he says. "Same thing here: I thought we did a great job and Lady Gaga did a great job. I have the utmost respect for her."

JASON NEWSTED Says Technical Issues During METALLICA

JASON NEWSTED Says Technical Issues During METALLICA's Performance With LADY GAGA Made It 'More Powerful'

Former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted says that the technical issues the band faced during its collaboration with Lady Gaga at this year's Grammy Awards made the performance "more powerful."

METALLICA's appearance with Gaga at the 59th annual event in Los Angeles on February 12 turned into something of a disaster when the Grammy sound crew did not turn frontman James Hetfield's mic on, forcing him to share the mic with Gaga after the first verse and chorus.

As a further humiliation, presenter Laverne Cox did not even introduce METALLICA by name. At the end of the song, a visibly angry Hetfield hurled his guitar at a road crew member while kicking over his mic stand.

Asked for his opinion on some METALLICA fans' criticism of the band's decision to work with Lady Gaga, Newsted told the "Metal Injection Livecast": "I think that doubting METALLICA ever is not really that smart anytime, for whatever reason. It's kind of [like] they keep getting back up again ready for another fight. It's pretty impressive. I've been in, out of it, back, inside of it and whatever, man, I've seen it from all places, and it's nothing but respectable."

He continued: "Yes, I did see the performance. Yes, I watched them as their brother, I watched them as a supporting spectator person that's in the camp. So, as a fan, I was really pissed off at how… the disrespect because of the equipment. That's not okay with me. That shit's not okay with me. But for them taking a chance, just like they have with anything, whether we agreed with it or not, it's not really for us to say. If they wanna take that chance with somebody that's as talented and powerful as Lady Gaga, then they should be doing it. They are the same caliber she is. She was lucky to be there with them.'

Newsted added: "We could discuss this and all blah blah blah, but the victory of that performance was that because the gear failed, James and [Lady Gaga] were able to rise to a place as the experienced superstar performers that they are, feed off each other on that moment, forced into that moment. And it made it a more powerful performance than they could have planned if they had rehearsed it twenty fucking times. They rose to the occasion and they pushed each other to a further place than they would have ever on their own. It was fantastic… I thought that was a huge, huge, huge shiny crown that came out of that. It showed what the people are made of. A large percentage of the persons in that room that are performers would have been in a puddle on the floor when that shit was presented to them, when that adversity was presented to them."

Newsted will debut his first major international exhibition of his contemporary art, titled "Rawk", at the third edition of Art New York at Pier 94, opening Wednesday, May 3, and continuing through Sunday, May 7, to kick off New York Art Week.

STONE SOUR

STONE SOUR 'Wanted To Go Back To The Basics' On 'Hydrograd' Album, Says 'COREY TAYLOR

Rob Herrera of Front Row Live conducted an interview with SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR singer Corey Taylor on the red carpet of the inaugural "Strange 80s" benefit concert, which was held on Sunday, May 14 at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles, California. You can now watch the chat below.

Regarding STONE SOUR's decision to record its new album, "Hydrograd", live in the studio, Taylor said: "We haven't done it since the first album, to be honest. It was awesome, dude. There's an energy to everything that you just can't get when you're staring at a computer screen. And you're vibing on each other, and all those little pieces of ear candy are coming out and you're reacting to different things. Man, it is a whole other beast when you can do it. So, kids, practice, and be able to do it well, I guess. Or better than me anyways."

Corey also talked about STONE SOUR's musical approach on "Hydrograd", which STONE SOUR bassist Johny Chow previously described as "a straight rock and roll album." Taylor said: "We just wanted to kind of go back to the basics. There's still elements of the heavy stuff, but at the same time, there's just such a great rock and roll abandon going on that I just feel like nobody's really doing right now. And in a lot of ways, a lot of people are afraid to use the term 'rock,' which is stupid — pull your head out of your ass. And it's, like, they won't say it, they won't feel it, they won't give in to it, so they're not gonna be it. And we're, like, 'Screw that! We're totally a rock band. And if you don't like it, shove it up your ass.' So that's what we do."

"Hydrograd" will be released on June 30 via Roadrunner. The disc was recorded at Sphere Studios in North Hollywood, California with producer Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX and STEEL PANTHER.

STONE SOUR tracked a total of 18 songs from which 15 will make the CD.

The Paul Brown-directed video for "Fabuless" was filmed on April 18 in Los Angeles.

STONE SOUR will play the Rock On The Range Kick-Off Party on Thursday, May 18 at Express Live! in Columbus, Ohio. The event will start the Rock On The Range weekend, with METALLICA, SOUNDGARDEN and KORN headlining this year's festival.

STONE SOUR will also be special guests of KORN on the latter act's "Serenity Of Summer" trek, which starts on June 16 in Salt Lake City and wraps on August 2 in Cleveland.

LACUNA COIL Re-Signs With CENTURY MEDIA

LACUNA COIL Re-Signs With CENTURY MEDIA

Currently celebrating their 20th anniversary, Italian metal icons LACUNA COIL and the band's longtime label, Century Media, have decided that it is time to enter another chapter in their relationship. Both parties are pleased to announce that LACUNA COIL have just signed a new deal with Century Media.

LACUNA COIL lead vocalist Cristina Scabbia shared her feelings on the band's continued partnership with their longstanding label: "I am so excited to have signed with Century Media again. Nowadays it is so important that, whichever label is backing up an artist or a band, one has full trust in the artistic and musical vision. I know that LACUNA COIL and Century Media will continue to work hard together to make common goals happen faster and more successfully.' Andrea Ferro (vocals) adds his thoughts: "We are really excited about starting this new adventure with Century Media Records. We've had some great 20 years together that helped us become an internationally successful band. Like in every relationship, there have been ups and downs, but overall we've worked with some great people who have always been willing to grow up with the band and together we have achieved really amazing goals. Here's to another chapter about to start and more successful stories!"

Antje Lange, general manager international of Century Media Records, also commented on the label's new deal with LACUNA COIL, saying: "Century Media Records is very happy that LACUNA COIL have renewed their contract with us and we are very much looking forward to the next albums from this exceptional Italian band. Century Media appreciates the continuous trust of the band. The recent album 'Delirium' charted in 12 countries and the band is touring around the globe."

In addition to re-signing with Century Media, LACUNA COIL recently announced that they will be joining Dutch symphonic metal giants EPICA on the North American leg of the band's "The Ultimate Principle" tour. The month-long September trek marks the band's first U.S. tour dates in over a year, as they continue to support their latest full length studio album, "Delirium". Joining LACUNA COIL and EPICA on "The Ultimate Principle" tour are INSOMNIUM and ELANTRIS.

"Delirium" was released last May through Century Media. The CD was recorded at BRX Studio in Milan between December 2015 and February 2016. The effort was produced by LACUNA COIL bassist and main songwriter Marco "Maki" Coti-Zelati, with engineering by Marco Barusso and additional assistance from Dario Valentini. Coti-Zelati also created the artwork for "Delirium", which is based on an atmospheric session captured by Italian photographer Alessandro Olgiati.

LACUNA COIL has recruited Diego Cavallotti as a fill-in guitarist for the band following the departure of Marco "Maus" Biazzi.

Biazzi left LACUNA COIL in January 2016, explaining in a statement: "I felt I couldn't add more in this project any longer so I decided to leave my second family, LACUNA COIL, to take a different path for a new challenge in my life.

LACUNA COIL in February 2014 parted ways with guitarist Cris "Pizza" Migliore and drummer Cristiano "Criz" Mozzati.

TEXTURES Call It Quits

TEXTURES Call It Quits

Dutch progressive metallers TEXTURES have announced their breakup.

The band says in a statement: "Ladies and gentlemen, there is no easy way to say this, so here it is: TEXTURES comes to an end.

"Personal motives have led to this decision and it has not been made in haste. These personal reasons made it harder to be the productive band TEXTURES always has been in the past and which this band needs to be. Without this dedication, TEXTURES would merely be a shell of what it used to be.

"Break-ups are never easy and always bring difficulties. Unfortunately, we have to announce that our anticipated sixth album, 'Genotype', will not be released and so there will be no double album. At least not for the coming years...

"The breakup of TEXTURES doesn't mean that there is any hardship within the band. We still have a strong connection with current and former members and this decision won't lead to any tensions whatsoever. Furthermore, the individual band members will continue to make music and pursue new musical endeavours. Keep your eyes and ears open...

"Thanks to all the friends, fellow musicians and other colleagues we have had the pleasure to meet along the way. And, of course, special thanks to all the fans who have supported us throughout the years. It is your dedication, appreciation and continued presence at our shows all over the world that made this journey one to remember for a lifetime. We hope to see you all very soon on our farewell tour.

Before the band's story comes to an end, TEXTURES will play a series of farewell shows later this year.

TEXTURES' latest album, "Phenotype", came out in February 2016 via Nuclear Blast. The effort was described in a press release as "a song-based, 60-minute-long album which presents an eclectic overview of what modern metal offers."

X JAPAN

X JAPAN's YOSHIKI Undergoes Successful Surgery For Cervical Artificial Disc Replacement

Yoshiki of X JAPAN underwent surgery for cervical artificial disc replacement on Tuesday, May 16 at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. The operation was concluded successfully. Diagnosed as having "cervical foraminal stenosis" (radiculopathy of the left arm and herniated discs at the C5-C6 levels) due to his intense drumming style, his artificial disc replacement surgery required several hours of highly intricate skills by Dr. Neel Anand. Yoshiki is currently in stable condition. According to the doctor, he will have difficulty using his voice for a while after the surgery. He should regain his regular voice within the coming months as recovery progresses. The incision is expected to heal partially over the next six weeks, and 90 percent recovery is expected over the next six months. However, the length of time it will take for Yoshiki to see improvement on the nerve pain that runs down his left arm is still unknown. Ordinarily, Yoshiki should remain in the hospital for at least a few days after the surgery. After waking up from general anesthesia and under heavy analgesics, he expressed that he wanted to record a song he was writing from up until the night before surgery. Persuading his doctor into releasing him from the hospital a few hours after surgery, he headed for the studio and stayed there for half an hour. However, since his condition after surgery was too extreme, his staff and the accompanying nurse managed to get him back home to rest under his physician’s care. In regards to the "X Japan World Tour 2017 We Are X" scheduled in July, the Yoshiki Premium Dinner Show dates in August and September, and other X JAPAN world tour dates, decisions will be made based on his recovery. The band's management hopes to make announcements as soon as possible.

MORBID ANGEL

MORBID ANGEL's Setlist For U.S. Tour Will Not Include Any DAVID VINCENT-Era Material, Says STEVE TUCKER

The setlist for MORBID ANGEL's upcoming tour will not include any material from the David Vincent era of the band, it has been revealed. Speaking to Orlando Weekly, MORBID ANGEL's current frontman, Steve Tucker, who is back for his third spell with the group, was asked if the trek — which kicks off on May 23 in Orlando, Florida — will see the band performing any songs from its recently completed new studio album. "Probably one or two new songs; the album's almost done, but we don't want to put out too much with YouTube putting it up the next day," Tucker explained. "The setlist will be different, too — in the past, we've covered all of MORBID ANGEL's discography, but this time we went with the discography between Trey [Azagthoth, guitar] and I. I'm really excited about the fact that every song we play is a song I was a part of. There are some MORBID ANGEL classics that aren't there, but we made our own classics."

MORBID ANGEL's new disc was recorded at Mana Recording in St. Petersburg, Florida with producer — and former MORBID ANGEL guitarist — Erik Rutan. Tentatively due in the fall via UDR Music, the LP will mark the band's first release with drummer Scott Fuller (ANNIHILATED, ex-ABYSMAL DAWN) who joined MORBID ANGEL last year following the departure of Tim Yeung. It will also be MORBID ANGEL's first album to feature Tucker since 2003's "Heretic".

Tucker told "The Metal Magdalene With Jet" show about MORBID ANGEL's approach on the upcoming album: "It was really just about writing music — it was just about writing a MORBID ANGEL album. Nobody said, 'Hey, we wanna go in this direction,' nobody said anything. I mean, there's obvious things there. I've said it before — I'm a death metal guy, so, for me, it's gonna be a death metal album; if I'm on it, it's death metal. So it was just about making a MORBID ANGEL album. It was really about coming in with something new, something fresh, but yet it still being MORBID ANGEL. Really, honestly, we didn't approach this any differently than any of the other albums I was involved in except for maybe [1998's] 'Formulas Fatal To The Flesh', which 'Formulas', Trey wrote all the music, all the lyrics and things like that. But this was done more similar to maybe [2000's] 'Gateways To Annihilation', where everybody had their contribution. Trey wrote a bunch of songs, I wrote songs, Scotty contributed some ideas. There was a lot of back-and-forth. In the end, it has to become a MORBID ANGEL song. And at this point, I feel that it's very much a MORBID ANGEL album."

MORBID ANGEL in January announced the addition of Dan Vadim Von (guitarist/frontman of the American death metal band VADIMVON) to the band's lineup on second guitar. He joined the group as the replacement for Norwegian guitarist Destructhor (a.k.a. Thor Anders Myhren), who left the band a year and a half ago.

MORBID ANGEL's first U.S. tour of 2017 will feature support from SUFFOCATION, REVOCATION and WITHERED.

The tour will commence in Orlando at the Beachum and continue around the country until June 27, in New Orleans at the House Of Blues.

Former MORBID ANGEL frontman David Vincent recently joined forces with several other musicians — including Yeung (drums) — to perform classic MORBID ANGEL songs under the I AM MORBID banner.

MORBID ANGEL's controversial 2011 album, "Illud Divinum Insanus", marked the group's first CD to feature Vincent since "Domination".

METALLICA: Pro-Shot Footage Of

METALLICA: Pro-Shot Footage Of 'Halo On Fire' Performance From East Rutherford, New Jersey

Professionally filmed video footage of METALLICA performing the song "Halo On Fire" on May 14 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey as part of the North American leg of the "WorldWired" tour can be seen below.

METALLICA's setlist was as follows:

01. Hardwired02. Atlas, Rise!03. For Whom The Bell Tolls04. Fuel05. The Unforgiven06. Now That We're Dead07. Moth Into Flame08. Wherever I May Roam09. Halo On Fire10. Whiplash11. Sad But True12. One13. Master Of Puppets14. Fade To Black15. Seek & Destroy

Encore:

16. Fight Fire With Fire17. Nothing Else Matters18. Enter Sandman

METALLICA was joined in East Rutherford, as they will be on most of the rest of the trek, by VOLBEAT and AVENGED SEVENFOLD.

The North American run will hit stadiums in 22 more cities before ending in mid-August. METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone that the band was genuinely surprised to learn they could still play stadiums, saying, "It was like, 'Holy fuck, people really still care about this band in ways that you stopped taking for granted literally decades ago. It was very inspiring and kind of eye-opening."

He added: "Full stadium runs can sometimes be a little intimidating. There's all these things to worry about like, 'You should really try to play maybe only on the weekend,' and, 'Where do you play on Tuesday?' and some of those practicalities can get a little bewildering. We just threw caution to the wind. Doing a stadium run seemed like the perfect thing on the back of how well this record has been received and all the good will that's out there in METALLICA's world right now."

The next stop on the tour is The New Coliseum Presented By NYCB in Uniondale, New York on Wednesday (May 17).

JOE LYNN TURNER Performs RAINBOW Classics In Westland, Michigan (Video)

JOE LYNN TURNER Performs RAINBOW Classics In Westland, Michigan (Video)

Quality multi-camera video footage of Joe Lynn Turner's April 28 performance at the Token Lounge in Westland, Michigan can be seen below (video produced by George S Pogacich).

Joe Lynn Turner last year slammed Ritchie Blackmore for the guitarist's decision to go out and perform classic DEEP PURPLE and RAINBOW material with a new group musicians instead of reforming RAINBOW with a more "authentic" lineup.

Regarding why he thinks Ritchie has chosen to go out with a whole new RAINBOW lineup instead of bringing back some of the musicians who played on the band's classic records, Joe said: "The first thing I think I can say is that he's been misguided by people around him. That's what I really believe. I believe he's been misguided, and I believe he trusts these people and I think that he made a mistake doing this."

He continued: "I wanted an authentic reunion. I wanted guys from Doogie [White] and Graham [Bonnet] and [bassist] Bob Daisley and [drummer Bobby] Rondinelli, and all these guys, and I wanted to have a RAINBOW extravaganza, because there are a lot of fans that love RAINBOW that still haven't even seen RAINBOW, and this would be the ticket for them — you know, maybe a two-hour extravaganza. So I guess the people, his advisers or whoever, could not sell him that particular [idea], or maybe they never even told him that. I actually have a feeling that he was not full of the information at the time, because certain things have come to pass that sort of indicated that he didn't know about it, to me."

Joe was the singer of RAINBOW between 1980 and 1984 and he sang on the album "Difficult To Cure", which featured the band's most successful U.K. single, "I Surrender".

During Turner's time with RAINBOW, the band had its first USA chart success and recorded songs that helped define the melodic rock genre.

Blackmore was joined at last year's RAINBOW gigs by LORDS OF BLACK singer Ronnie Romero, STRATOVARIUS keyboardist Jens Johansson, BLACKMORE'S NIGHT drummer David Keith and bassist Bob Nouveau (a.k.a. Robert "Bob" Curiano, ex-BLACKMORE'S NIGHT).

ICE-T

ICE-T's BODY COUNT Releases Animated Video For 'The Ski Mask Way'

BODY COUNT, the metal band fronted by hip-hop legend, actor and director Ice-T, has partnered with renowned graphic artist Tommy Ruffin to create a new animated, violent music video for "The Ski Mask Way". The song is featured on BODY COUNT's latest album, "Bloodlust", which was released on March 31 via Century Media Records.

Ice-T stated about the track: "I was noticing people on the streets showing off their expensive jewelry and money on social media. They are just making themselves a target for the robbers out there just watching their Instagram to see what they are flaunting. In L.A., they call Instagram 'Jacker's Uber,' seeing what clubs people are at and livestream the robbers to their front door."

"Bloodlust" was recorded with producer Will Putney (MISS MAY I, UPON A BURNING BODY), who also helmed 2014's "Manslaughter". The new CD features guest appearances by Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, SEPULTURA), MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine and LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe. The effort also contains BODY COUNT's medley of the SLAYER songs "Postmortem" and "Raining Blood".

Ice-T recently told Revolver magazine about the "Bloodlust" album title: "Bloodlust is part of the human makeup. Murder is about as normal as love. It's in our nature to want to get violent and kill, but we know there are consequences. That's why we like violent movies, video games and combat sports. It's in our DNA. It's what we are."

THE FERRYMEN Feat. RAINBOW Singer, PRIMAL FEAR Guitarist: Listen To

THE FERRYMEN Feat. RAINBOW Singer, PRIMAL FEAR Guitarist: Listen To 'Ferryman' Song

The song "Ferryman" from THE FERRYMEN, the new project featuring guitarist Magnus Karlsson (MAGNUS KARLSSON'S FREE FALL, PRIMAL FEAR), vocalist Ronnie Romero (LORDS OF BLACK, RAINBOW) and drummer Mike Terrana (TARJA, RAGE, AXEL RUDI PELL, VISION DIVINE), can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's self-titled debut album, which will be released on June 2 via Frontiers Music Srl.

The songs for "The Ferrymen" were written by Karlsson in Sweden during the summer of 2016. Once Romero was sent the music via their main bands' shared label home Frontiers, he immediately wanted to be part of the project. Terrana was the last piece of the puzzle and he recorded his drums in Italy, where he currently resides. The resulting album is a shot of adrenaline for all lovers of melodic metal! Musically, you can expect maximum melodic metal fusing the songwriting and epic structures of the great ALLEN/LANDE records (for which Magnus Karlsson was the main architect of the first three widely praised releases) with the Ronnie James Dio-esque vocal approach of Romero. (Let's not forget that Romero was hand-picked by DEEP PURPLE (1968-1976) and RAINBOW's legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore to be the lead vocalist for RAINBOW's recent reunion shows, so the Dio comparison is more than accurate!) Says Magnus: "When I wrote this record, having Ronnie singing, I had no limits in mind with the lyrics. Ronnie could sing everything and I am also very proud of the songs." Adds Romero: "I am used to working with LORDS OF BLACK in a certain straight style, but this record was very different and it was very exciting for me." "Overall, I think it is one of the coolest and grooviest records I've ever done," concludes Terrana, a drummer with more than a hundred records under his belt! With stunning artwork courtesy of Stan W. Decker and an outstanding mix courtesy of Simone Mularoni (of Italian prog metal masters DGM), "The Ferrymen" is an album which will take the metal world by storm in 2017. "The Ferrymen" track listing: 01. End Of The Road02. Ferryman03. Fool You All04. Still Standing Up05. Cry Wolf06. One Heart07. Darkest Hour08. How The Story Ends09. Enter Your Dream10. MICHAEL MONROE To Release

MICHAEL MONROE To Release 'The Best' Collection In June

In the leather-bound history of heartfelt rock 'n' roll, not only will Michael Monroe have at least one chapter all to himself but his name will be colorfully threaded throughout, such has been his impact, his appeal, and his ongoing never-surrender story; a powerful, inspirational tale told in detail on "The Best" — the first official collection of his (ongoing) solo musical exploits, featuring prime tracks from 1987 right up to 2017. It arrives June 30 via Spinefarm. "This album is a great representation of my 30-year solo career, including four songs from the Little Steven-produced DEMOLITION 23 album, which has been unavailable for over 20 years, plus some special rarities and previously unreleased bonus tracks." Icon, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, media personality, flamboyant force of nature, and one of rock's most celebrated and uber-kinetic frontmen, Michael has been a name and a (much-photographed) face on the scene since 1979, when he played a central role in the formation of HANOI ROCKS — the legendary Finnish glam-punk heroes who came within a rolling paper's width of taking the world by glitter-storm. Were it not for cruel and fickle fate, HANOI — who disbanded for the first time in 1985, then finally in 2009 — might have ended up as an arena act. But whatever obstacles were thrust in their path, they were never less than the real deal, and major names like GUNS N' ROSES were ready to acknowledge their influence and their worth. GN'R would go on to issue the European HANOI catalogue in the U.S. via their Uzi Suicide imprint. Over his three-decades-plus in the spotlight, Monroe has befriended and performed with a whole host of artists and acts, including the aforementioned GUNS N' ROSES and Slash; Lemmy, Alice Cooper, AEROSMITH, Little Steven and Ian Hunter. The frontman has shared stages and studios with them all, but since that first break-up of HANOI in the mid-'80s, he's essentially been pursuing his own path, and it's this solo activity that forms the basis of "The Best". It's almost two hours' worth of career-spanning music, re-mastered by Svante Forsbäck and sequenced by the great man himself. As well as key, high-profile numbers such as "Dead, Jail Or Rock 'N' Roll" (from second solo album, 1989's "Not Fakin' It", the promo clip for which features an onstage cameo from Axl Rose) and "'78" (from 2011's "Sensory Overdrive", voted "Album of the Year" by Classic Rock magazine), this two-CD set also showcases some "from the vaults" moments for collectors and completists, with bonus tracks and previously unreleased songs strategically placed to make the journey both scenic and surprising. "There's a couple of extra special tracks like 'It's A Lie', sung as a duet with Stiv Bators (DEAD BOYS, LORDS OF THE NEW CHURCH) back in 1985, and a never-before-released second version of the STEPPENWOLF cover 'Magic Carpet Ride', featuring Slash, left over from the 'Coneheads' soundtrack project that Slash did with me in 1993. And since Slash has the biggest heart of gold in rock 'n' roll, he was kind enough to allow me to use it on this album. God bless him!," said Monroe. Two other previously unreleased songs are "Fist Fulla Dynamite" and "Simpletown", outtakes from the "Blackout States" album (2015); plus there's the new single "One Foot Outta The Grave" — an anthem of pure defiance — to bring things nicely up to date, showing the artist's continued commitment to a genre.

Watch STEEL PANTHER Perform At House Of Blues In Las Vegas

Watch STEEL PANTHER Perform At House Of Blues In Las Vegas

Fan-filmed video footage of STEEL PANTHER's May 11 performance at the House Of Blues in Las Vegas, Nevada can be seen below.

STEEL PANTHER's latest album, "Lower The Bar", was released on March 24 via Kobalt Music Recordings. The disc was co-produced with regular collaborator Jay Ruston, and includes eleven songs recorded at studios in north Hollywood and Sherman Oaks, with an additional two tracks on a Best Buy deluxe edition.

STEEL PANTHER frontman Michael Starr told Billboard about the follow-up to 2014's "All You Can Eat": "I think we've expanded. Our style is still the same formula, I guess, but we've changed it up a bit. I could say that we used to sing about pussy and partying; now we're singing about partying and pussy, but the reality is we did switch up a few things. It's a really solid, fun, intelligent party record. We're just maturing as a band after being on the road for years together and living together. It shows."

He continued: "It's hard to put into words without sounding like a typical review, but it feels different to me. It feels like we're doing some melody lines we normally wouldn't do on a couple of sings, different kinds of moods and not necessary just 'Dr. Feelgood'. There's some different stuff in there, but everything's open for interpretation. Hopefully we connect with it."

For the uninitiated, STEEL PANTHER was formed in 2000 and is Michael Starr (vocals), Satchel (guitar), Lexxi Foxx (bass) and Stix Zadinia (drums). Hailing from Los Angeles, the epicenter for rock n' roll in all its debauchery and glamour, STEEL PANTHER has established themselves as the world's premier party band, melding hard rock virtuosity with parody and criminally good looks.

RAVEN Drummer Sidelined Due To

RAVEN Drummer Sidelined Due To 'Sudden Serious Health Issue'

Due to a "sudden serious health issue," drummer Joe Hasselvander will be unable to join his RAVEN bandmates on their upcoming tour.

Says the group: "As you can imagine, the health and well being of our good mate and partner in mayhem is paramount in importance. However, in order to meet our obligations to our fans, we will still be playing all upcoming shows with the assistance of some amazing fill-in drummers who have stepped up to the plate to help the show go on.

"[On] Thursday [May 18] in Chicago, Jimmy Mess from TATTOOED MILLIONAIRES will do the honors, and the shows this weekend on the East Coast we are extremely honored to have FEAR FACTORY drummer and all-around metal legend Mike Heller behind the kit. And for the European tour, KILL RITUAL drummer Dave Chedrick will do the honors.

"Please join with us in wishing Joe best wishes and a speedy recovery."

RAVEN's latest album, "ExtermiNation", was released in April 2015 via SPV/Steamhammer.

Considered part of the "New Wave Of British Heavy Metal" movement of the early '80s, RAVEN — led by Newcastle natives/brothers John Gallagher (vocals/bass) and Mark Gallagher (guitar) — is perhaps best remembered for its trailblazing tours in America in the early ’80s that gave groups like METALLICA and ANTHRAX their first taste of the road.

RAVEN's albums "Rock Until You Drop", "Wiped Out" and "All For One" virtually invented both the speed metal and power metal genres, with the band consistently pushing the envelope while retaining its unique sound and attack — both in the studio and in their true element: onstage.

Anneke comments: "For a long time I've wanted to make a kind of concept album about the cities we've visited, because we tour so much and see so many countries and cities.  I often have a strong feeling for a city. It can be anything - sometimes I visualize a city as a man or a character, or sometimes something happened in that city and I want to write about that."
