THE EXPLOITED Frontman Hospitalized With 'Very Serious Heart Condition'

According to a post on THE EXPLOITED Facebook page: "[Wattie] has a very serious heart condition and almost died.

"He wanted to thank all the fans at last [Friday night's] show and who turned up to support him and the band.

"Wattie would like us to continue the tour without him.

"We will still be playing our set with guest vocalists from THE CASUALTIES and others."

Wattie underwent a quadruple heart bypass surgery in 2014 after suffering a heart attack onstage. He was back on the road within a year. The singer told I Probably Hate Your Band in a December 2015 interview: "I thought I wouldn't be able to do gigs anymore, so I'm just glad I can still do gigs." He later told Tattoo.com about his heart procedure, "They cut my leg went right through my tattoo and put it back together," and added: "The most important thing in life is your health. If you don't have your health, you don't have fuck-all."

Video: L.A. GUNS Performs New Song 'Speed' In Santa Ana

Video footage of L.A. GUNS performing a new song called "Speed" on April 8 at Yost Theater in Santa Ana, California can be seen below. The current version of L.A. GUNS — which includes singer Phil Lewis and the band's co-founding guitarist Tracii Guns — has recorded a new album for a tentative June release through the Italian record label Frontiers Music Srl. The last time Lewis and Guns joined forces was back in 2000 with legendary producer Andy Johns for the making of what would become "Waking The Dead". Speaking with Express & Star, Tracii said: "With Phil and I in particular, we have a certain chemistry that's undeniable. And, you know, when you're at your loneliest, you wanna go home, right? So, we both felt like it was time to go home and be comfortable with that undeniable relationship that we have musically. I mean, right away, the first time we got back together and played, you know, it's so obvious, you can't deny it. At some point in your life, you can't deny what's real." Regarding the sound of the new L.A. GUNS material, Tracii said: "Phil's vocal style and his way of writing kind of offsets that balance of the heavy music, that's something that's possibly more mainstream or identifiable, so there's a lot of, you know, kind of typical sleazy L.A. GUNS, high-energy riff rock. There's a little bit of sloppy New Orleans, kind of sweaty, kind of bluesier stuff too. It's a big record." L.A. GUNS' present lineup is rounded out by Shane Fitzgibbon on drums and Johnny Martin on bass with Michael Grant on guitar as a touring member. On the topic of the decision to use the L.A. GUNS moniker for the new album, Guns told LA Weekly: "When you put Phil and I together, that's the sound of L.A. GUNS. There's no way around that. As much as I love certain other [former] members of the band, it's hard to say what their contribution to the overall sound of the band was — but Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns, the band's gotta be L.A. GUNS. It can't be anything else." Back in December, Phil announced that he was leaving the L.A. GUNS version that included drummer Steve Riley.

NECROPHOBIC Signs With CENTURY MEDIA For World Outside U.S.A., Canada

NECROPHOBIC Signs With CENTURY MEDIA For World Outside U.S.A., Canada

Swedish luciferian death metal overlords NECROPHOBIC have signed a deal with Century Media for the world excluding USA and Canada.

Formed in 1989, NECROPHOBIC belongs to the first wave of Swedish death metal bands. Ever since the release of its classic debut album, "The Nocturnal Silence" (1993), the band has issued a total of seven studio LPs, among them timeless masterpieces as "Darkside" (1997), "Bloodhymns" (2002) or the brilliant 2009 album "Death To All".

NECROPHOBIC was recently rejoined by guitarists Sebastian Ramstedt and Johan Bergebäck following the band's split with its axeman of five years, Fredrik Folkare.

Commented NECROPHOBIC drummer Joakim Sterner: "The last couple of years, Fredrik has been handling all the guitar parts as a single guitarist. He is a great guitar player, but he can't play two guitars live and to have two guitarists is an important part of our sound — especially live. The music is written for two guitars. It has been so in the past and it's still so today."

He continued: "Lately, I have also come to realize that me and Fredrik are too far from each other on the musical side. Our mindset and our musical roots are too different.

"NECROPHOBIC is very special in that way that it has very strict, call it rules, on how music shall sound, and not to sound, so with that in mind, along with that one guitar player was 'missing' live, I slowly started to think of this solution — to let Fredrik go.

"It's always hard to tell a person to go, especially since we have always got along very well on the personal basis. He's a great guy, but I had to set the band, and what's best for the band, in first place. There's no hard feelings between us. At least not from my side."

Joakim added: "Since some time back, a newborn relationship started with my old friends, and former bandmates, Sebastian and Johan, and that made this lineup change into reality.

"Sebastian was part of this band for fifteen years and Johan for ten years, so I'm really excited to have them back in the band again and I'm looking forward to what we will accomplish together, both live and on the songwriting terms."

Regarding his return to NECROPHOBIC, Sebastian said: "It's a great honor to be back! It feels like coming home.

"NECROPHOBIC has, by far, been the band where I can let my creativity flow the most. Joakim's vision and my way of writing songs has always fit together naturally.

"The funny thing is that me and Johan never really quit NECROPHOBIC. After years of working closely together, we, in the beginning of 2011, said that we needed a break, but it became longer than we expected.

"I do respect Fredrik's work in this band. He is a fantastic guitar player and his work with NECROPHOBIC, both as a guitar player and a producer, will not pass unnoticed.

"The time for a return is now and we will unite in forces stronger than ever."

Added Johan: "The time has come for me to reunite with the mighty force of NECROPHOBIC. Together we will bring forth the black flag and reclaim our position as a great live act. Join us when we venture into the eternal fire. See you out there."

Exclusive: UNDERCOVER DEVIL Premier “Burn It Black Video

Exclusive: UNDERCOVER DEVIL Premier “Burn It Black Video

The gritty southern metal groove chiefs known as Undercover Devil have premiered the official music video for “Burn It Black”. BraveWords is unleashing the track that combines attitude, infectious melodies and a true southern metal sound that hits you harder than a bottle of Evan Williams.

“We are excited to finally unleash this song as it basically gives an inside view into our overall sound. We are a groove based band. No Groove is no good. If you don't leave hummin' that chorus then you might want to re-evaluate your life. Everyone has those days when they want to just burn it all down. We are the soundtrack to your bad days.” -Undercover Devil

Undercover Devil is a 5-piece group from Malvern, Arkansas rooted in their music which highlights the authenticity of their sound. Fans of Down, Pantera, Crowbar will certainly raise an eyebrow and feel the relentless urge to head bang with the Devil.

Band manager Mark Müller from Extreme Management Group mentions, “These guys have a sound that reels you in, their roots are strong and they know how to put it all out there. We’re ecstatic to be working with Undercover Devil, they’ve put in tremendous work to get where they are and have a lot more coming.”

The debut album Burn It Black will be available worldwide through Rock Avenue Records USA on June 2nd.

No, METALLICA Did Not Steal Riffs From

No, METALLICA Did Not Steal Riffs From '80s Metal Band INCUBUS

'80s metal band INCUBUS (not to be confused with popular California rock band of the same name) has denied sending a cease-and-desist letter to METALLICA's legal team alleging that the heavy metal giants copied riffs from INCUBUS's songs.

BLABBERMOUTH.NET was one of the media outlets which were sent a copy of the supposed cease-and-desist letter earlier this week — after receiving e-mail notification of the letter's existence on March 24 — from someone claiming to be Brutal Records' Michael Howard, but chose not to publish the poorly worded document (see below) on the account that it appeared to be fake. Other news sites, however, did pick up the story and it quickly spread across the Internet, eventually catching the attention of the members of INCUBUS, who changed their name to OPPROBRIUM in 2000.

In the fake cease-and-desist letter, the person claiming to be Michael Howard accused METALLICA of lifting riffs from the INCUBUS track "Sadistic Sinner", from the cult metal band's 1988 album "Serpent Temptation", for inclusion in the song "Moth Into Flame" from METALLICA's "Hardwired… To Self-Destruct" disc. Confusingly, the March 24 e-mail alleged that "Sadistic Sinner" was copied in the METALLICA song "Spit Out The Bone", while riffs from another INCUBUS track, "Hunger For Power", ended up in "Moth Into Flame".

On Friday (April 7), the members of OPPROBRIUM released the following statement regarding the supposed cease-and-desist letter:

"It's been circulating that supposedly an individual is claiming that METALLICA copied one of our songs called 'Hunger For Power' and that this individual supposedly sent a cease-and-desist to METALLICA.

"To all OPPROBRIUM fans and METALLICA fans, we OPPROBRIUM would never send a 'cease-and-desist' to METALLICA. We OPPROBRIUM have nothing to do with this. We love METALLICA and we are fans of METALLICA ourselves.

"We do not know the reason why this news is spreading. We love METALLICA and are fans of METALLICA and would never do such a thing against METALLICA.

"This individual is claiming that he holds the rights to one of our song 'Hunger For Power', and it's not true. We OPPROBRIUM hold all the rights to all our songs.

"This individual is spreading lies behind our backs. We OPPROBRIUM are surprised concerning this, and are very sad.

"We OPPROBRIUM love METALLICA and would never do such a thing to METALLICA.

"OPPROBRIUM does not support this individual nor are we responsible for the actions taken by this individual.

"We OPPROBRIUM are on the side of METALLICA and not on the side of this individual that is spreading this lie.

"Thanks to all OPPROBRIUM and METALLICA fans, and please keep in mind that this individual is doing this on his own and we (OPPROBRIUM) have NOTHING to do with this. This is a very sad day for our band."

MIKE PORTNOY Says He Is

MIKE PORTNOY Says He Is 'Very Comfortable Being A Team Player,' Complains About Having Too Many 'Chefs In The Kitchen'

Dream Theater World conducted an interview with former DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy before THE NEAL MORSE BAND's April 1 concert in Malmö, Sweden. You can now watch the chat below.

Speaking about what it has been like giving up some of the creative control he had while he was a member of DREAM THEATER and adjusting to the more democratic environment of his more recent projects, Portnoy said: "I have a different take on what makes a band fun. To me, sometimes being in a band with four or five or six different chefs in the kitchen, it's a great creative process, but it's also incredibly frustrating. In all those years in DREAM THEATER, I very much had a lot of creative control, and John [Petrucci, guitar] and I produced the albums together and we wrote the music together, but then from that point, I had a lot of creative control. And there's something to be said for… The process is a lot easier that way."

He continued: "After I left DREAM THEATER, every band I've done — FLYING COLORS, THE WINERY DOGS, ADRENALINE MOB, METAL ALLEGIANCE, THE NEAL MORSE BAND now — every one of these bands are kind of democratic bands where everybody has creative input, and that's great 'cause you get a little bit of everybody in it, but it's also very frustrating. Every single aspect, there's like a hundred e-mails [going back and forth], and I'm in four or five different bands at a time, so every question for every band branches off to a million e-mails. So that's not fun; to me, that's not so much fun. It's a lot easier when you can make a decision and just move forward."

Despite the frustration that he sometimes feels as an equal member of a band, Portnoy says that he doesn't mind being part of a situation where everyone is involved in the writing and decision-making process.

"To be honest, after all those years with DREAM THEATER, I was very happy to be a team player for THE WINERY DOGS and FLYING COLORS," he said. "Actually, I'm very comfortable being a team player. I think I have this reputation of being a control freak, but no, I actually like working together. It just sometimes can be very frustrating and sometimes makes things take ten times longer than they need to."

Portnoy, who co-founded DREAM THEATER more than thirty years ago, abruptly quit the band in September 2010 while on tour with AVENGED SEVENFOLD. He has since been replaced by Mike Mangini (ANNIHILATOR, EXTREME, JAMES LABRIE, STEVE VAI).

A PERFECT CIRCLE Members Working On New Music Separately

A PERFECT CIRCLE Members Working On New Music Separately

According to The Pulse Of Radio, A PERFECT CIRCLE guitarist Billy Howerdel revealed in a new interview with Tulsa Voice that he and singer Maynard James Keenan have been working separately on music for the band's first new album in 14 years. Howerdel explained: "So far I've just been working by myself. Literally, been in my room with no one else around working on these songs. I send mixes off to Maynard on a server and he's been working on them in his isolation. Then we're going to get together next month and combine where we're holding these ideas, then get in a room and get with the band, play them in a live setting and see what happens with the human element that comes into the picture."

Howerdel added that he and Keenan are going back and forth on the songs, saying: "He's sending me down different paths and has asked me to take out my scissors and cut them into different shapes and paste them back on a page. We can be in the same room but we just happen to be communicating about the same track — just in different parts of the country."

Howerdel said that the band's previous albums, including 2000's "Mer De Noms" and 2003's "Thirteenth Step", were done in the same fashion, although he admitted that he and Keenan have talked in the past about "working together somewhere in isolation for 10 days and just seeing what happens."

The guitarist told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that he prefers to let Keenan have complete control over the lyrics. "You know, I don't like necessarily knowing exactly what the songs are about, because they, you know, I'd rather just draw my own conclusions from them," he said. "It's always been better, to me, to do that. You realize the real meanings and sometimes they're not as — they don't have as much impact as what you thought it meant."

Last month, A PERFECT CIRCLE announced that it had signed a new worldwide recording deal with BMG Music. A new full-length album will be released later in the year.

The group, which toured in 2010 and 2011, launched its first full-fledged tour in six years on Thursday night (April 6) in Las Vegas. The schedule will include several festivals in late April and early May, closing at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on May 7.

COREY TAYLOR On STONE SOUR

COREY TAYLOR On STONE SOUR's 'Hydrograd': 'We Captured Lightning In A Jar That Nobody's Seen In A Thousand Years'

Corey Taylor says that STONE SOUR fans "are gonna freak out" when they hear the band's album, "Hydrograd".

While the first song from the disc is expected to be "leaked" later this month, the full-length follow-up to "House Of Gold & Bones" will arrive at the end of June.

"Hydrograd" was recorded at Sphere Studios in North Hollywood, California with producer Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX and STEEL PANTHER.

Speaking to Kilpop, Taylor said about the making of the new STONE SOUR album (see video below): "Sphere Studios is one of the best studios I've ever worked at. All the people there are some of the best people I've ever worked with. And we captured lightning — not even in a bottle — in a jar that nobody's seen in a thousand years. It is so goddamn good. People are gonna freak out. It's so good."

STONE SOUR bassist Johnny Chow recently described "Hydrograd" as "a straight rock and roll album," adding that it's "a little bit of a departure" from the band's previous output. Speaking with Detroit radio station WRIF, Chow said: "This album is just a straight rock and roll album. There's some kind of FOO FIGHTERS-meets-CHEAP TRICK, but there's also groove-heavy stuff. It's not heavy in the way of SLAYER… It's just very groove-oriented, very melodic [with] big choruses. We've got some mellower songs on there too, which are equally just as amazing and have a lot of groove to them."

He added: "This album is a little bit of a departure from previous STONE SOUR albums. We think it's the best one yet."

Chow said that the group recorded a total of 18 songs, of which 14 or 15 will make the final track list. He also remarked that the band "recorded the whole album live," explaining, "We didn't do it piece by piece in Pro Tools and chop it up… We really were able to capture that raw, aggressive feel and tone."

"Hydrograd" is STONE SOUR's sixth full-length studio album.

STONE SOUR will play the Rock On The Range kick-off party on Thursday, May 18 at Express Live! in Columbus, Ohio. The event will start the Rock On The Range weekend, with METALLICA, SOUNDGARDEN and KORN headlining this year's festival.

STONE SOUR will also be special guests of KORN on the latter act's "Serenity Of Summer" trek, which starts on June 16 in Salt Lake City and wraps on August 2 in Cleveland.

Regarding where the title "Hydrograd" came from, Chow explained that it was Taylor's idea, adding: "It has to do something with him being in an airport, going to the wrong gate, but the gate he thought he saw said 'Hydrograd,' and it just always stuck with him for some reason — that word 'hydrograd.' So I don't know if it's an actual true word or not."

Y&T Frontman Says Success Of

Y&T Frontman Says Success Of 'Summertime Girls' Was A 'Double-Edged Sword'

Clint Switzer and Paul Lagana of the "Music Mania" podcast recently conducted an interview with Y&T frontman Dave Meniketti. You can listen to the full chat below. A few excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On the band's work ethic:

Dave: "We do a lot of work, there's no question about it. It keeps us busy. It keeps the band kicking butt. We wouldn't have it any other way. If we're off too many weeks in a row, it drives us crazy. We get stir crazy. It's like 'When are we going to play again? Come on!'"

On whether Y&T's longevity means more to him than commercial success:

Dave: "Oh yeah! There's something to be said for staying the course. We've definitely done that over our career. We've been one of those bands who have been lucky enough, of course, to be popular enough to keep our music going and to keep us touring and sell records. But we've always looked at ourselves and said, 'Okay, there's these bands who have come up, opened for us, and then surpassed us, but then a few years later, they're no longer together or something happened or any number of other things.' Where we just keep going. We keep going and it's a semi-uphill thing, rather than having the big peak and then the big drop. We just kept it going in a good fashion as far as the popularity of the band and the ability to keep doing what we're doing. How many guys can say 43 years into it that they still have fans that love to come out to shows and allow them to make money and stay alive and keep doing the same thing that they loved their whole life? That's a hard thing to do."

On whether he feels Y&T was an influence on bands like QUIET RIOT, POISON and RATT:

Dave: "As far as the L.A. scene, there's no question, even though we're not from L.A., we became popular down there from just hitting that market a lot and getting on Highway 5 and driving five hours and doing it two or three times a year when we first started out. We got to a point where we were headlining down there two shows a night, three nights in a row on the weekends when we would go down. A whole lot of the rock stars-to-be were in the audience, watching us. We did have quite an impact on the L.A. scene as it turned out, even though we were not living in L.A. and were not an L.A. band. That was gratifying to see. We still hear about it all the time from musicians."

On how their 1985 hit single "Summertime Girls" changed the course of Y&T's career:

Dave: "Well, it was a double-edged sword, wasn't it? We were happy to have the success of the single of 'Summertime Girls' and that was all good because it was all happening at a time when we were becoming more and more popular because of 'Black Tiger' and 'Mean Streak' and 'Earthshaker'. At the same time, it was frustrating for us to be pigeonholed as 'Y&T those are those guys with the 'Summertime Girls' song.' That was just one song of hundreds of songs that we had been responsible for that was quite different from most of the rest of what Y&T was all about. It's still like that to some degree, although we re-cemented among fans many years what Y&T was all about. It's still funny to hear that on occasion when somebody goes 'Those are those 'Summertime Girls' guys.' And we go 'Oh dude, you got to come to a show.'"

On how he feels knowing so many high-profile musicians respect Y&T:

Dave: "We've been a lucky bunch as far as having the respect from the guys who are our peers and the fans as well. That's been a good thing. I remember only two times in the last 30-something years or so people going 'Man, you should do something. You should go and punch somebody. Do something outrageous for god's sakes. Then you'd get out in the news and finally get a lot of press.' And it's like, 'If that's the way you got to do it, then nah, that's not what we'll do.' There's something to be said for being an outrageous style of personality or just a complete screw-up that no matter what you do, you're always going to do something dumb enough to get in the press. That's just not our style. We are what we are. We're just going to keep going with it."

As previously reported, Y&T is putting the finishing touches on its documentary, "On With The Show", to be released before the end of the year. The film is expected to be built out of the hundreds of hours of personal footage shot over the years. It is set to cover the band's earliest days of rehearsing in drummer Leonard Haze's grandmother's house, then move through the first two albums, touring with JOURNEY, BOSTON and QUEEN, to their big breaks with AC/DC, OZZY OSBOURNE and DIO.

Y&T's current lineup is rounded out by guitarist John Nymann, drummer Mike Vanderhule and bassist Aaron Leigh.

Y&T's live album, "Live At The Mystic", was released in November 2012 via Frontiers Records.

The band's first studio album in 13 years, "Facemelter", came out in Europe in May 2010 via Frontiers.

ETHS Reunites With Original Singer CANDICE CLOT For Hometown Concert (Video)

French metallers ETHS reunited with their original lead singer, Candice Clot, for a hometown show last night (Saturday, April 8) at at Le Moulin in Marseille. This was the first of two final concerts the band has decided to play before calling it quits, with the second one scheduled for April 30 at Le Trianon in Paris.

Fan-filmed video footage of the Marseille performance — which was reportedly professionally filmed for an upcoming DVD and Blu-ray — can be seen below.

Clot left ETHS for personal reasons in 2012 and was replaced by Rachel Aspe. Rachel's vitriolic vocals fit perfectly the pounding riff barrage of the band's modern metal style, which was demonstrated on the 2014 EP "Ex Umbra In Solem" and last year's "Ankaa" full-length.

ETHS commented: "These last few years, a number of ordeals slowly pushed us towards different musical yearnings while dulling the fun that we have had playing as a band.

"ETHS has always been about honesty and fun, but we have to face the fact that our hearts are not in there anymore. Therefore, we made the joint decision to call it quits —- in order to fully focus on our separate musical endeavors and to find our joy in music again.

"From the bottom of our hearts, we want to extend our deepest thanks to all the fans, old and new, who supported the band through thick and thin. Thank you also to all musicians, road crews, bookers, radio DJs, directors, graphic designers, photographers, producers, journalists, and all other professionals of the music business, who helped us out in one way or another along the way. We have experienced unforgettable moments thanks to all of you and we will cherish those times forever.

"We are excited to announce that we will reunite in our original lineup for last two remaining gigs, which will be dedicated to the memory of our two friends Mika Bleu and Ju Isilion, who passed away far too early. We will close our ETHS adventure in style!"

ETHS was founded in Marseilles and rapidly managed to conquer the covers of French music magazines following the wildfire success of their EPs "Autopsie" (2000) and "Samantha" (2002). Debut album "Soma" (2004) saw the band open for CHILDREN OF BODOM and CRADLE OF FILTH in France. With the follow-up, "Tératologie" (2008), ETHS demonstrated its experience and maturity grown out of playing hundreds of shows. When time came to release third opus, "III", the band took the challenge abroad by releasing four English versions of the original French songs on an international edition.

Rachel played her last show with ETHS on December 3, 2016 at Le Chabada in Angers, France.

Video: STEVEN TYLER Performs In Osaka, Japan

AEROSMITH singer Steven Tyler performed with his Nashville-based band LOVING MARY on April 8 at Zepp Osaka Bayside in Osaka, Japan. Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be seen below.

Tyler's debut solo album, "We're All Somebody From Somewhere", last July entered Billboard's Top Country Albums chart at No. 1 with first-week sales of 17,000 copies, according to Nielsen Music.

"We're All Somebody From Somewhere" arived on July 15, 2016 via Big Machine Label Group's Dot Records.

The AEROSMITH frontman appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and spoke about the album, explaining: "I headed down to Nashville to start working on this project, wrote some kick-ass songs with some of Music City's finest songwriters."

He added: "Country music is the new rock 'n' roll. It's not just about porches, dogs and kicking your boots up. It's a whole lot more. It's about being real."

Tyler co-produced "We're All Somebody From Somewhere" with such heavyweights as T Bone Burnett, Dan Huff, Marti Fredriksen and Jaren Johnston.

Tyler spoke about the strength of the new material, telling Rolling Stone: "I believe y'all are gonna listen to this stuff and you're gonna agree with me that it fell from a star. I had nothing to do with this shit, it's just Nashville. There's something so magical about this town and me writing with all these people."

TONY IOMMI Is Mixing BLACK SABBATH

TONY IOMMI Is Mixing BLACK SABBATH's Final Shows For Possible Live Album

BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi has told NBC News that he is in the process of mixing the sound from the band's final shows in Birmingham, England for a possible live album.

"We'll actually be doing a documentary," he said. "My job at the moment is to have a listen to what we've done."

Iommi, who was diagnosed with cancer in late 2011 and is currently in remission, has written a piece for the long-running "CSI" television series and has "bags" of riffs he came up with for BLACK SABBATH that might one day wind up on a solo album.

"I'm certainly not retiring from playing and doing stuff," he said. "But I think since my illness I've had to look at things differently, think sensibly. I feel fine, but I still go for checkups and tests and at the moment I'm okay."

BLACK SABBATH finished its year-long "The End" farewell tour on February 4 in the band's hometown of Birmingham, closing out the quartet's groundbreaking 49-year career with an emotional 15-song set.

The band decided to make this tour its last because Iommi can no longer travel for extended amounts of time.

The guitarist recently said that he wouldn't rule out BLACK SABBATH recording new material or playing a one-off event.

The original lineup of SABBATH came together in 1969 with Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne on vocals, Geezer Butler on bass and Bill Ward on drums. That lineup recorded and toured through 1978, and periodically reformed through the '90s and 2000s for live work.

They regrouped again in late 2011 for a new album and tour, although Ward dropped out after a few months over financial issues. SABBATH has used Ozzy's regular touring drummer Tommy Clufetos since then for live work. RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's Brad Wilk laid down the drum tracks on the album "13", which came out in June 2013.

Osbourne is reportedly at work on a new solo album, and already has a pair of shows scheduled for this summer.

VAMPS:

VAMPS: 'Calling' Video Released

Japanese rock band VAMPS — featuring Hyde (L'Arc-en-Ciel) and K.A.Z. (Oblivion Dust) — has released the official music video for its new single, "Calling". Filmed in an old, abandoned building in Downtown Los Angeles with award-winning director Nick Peterson (FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's "Wrong Side Of Heaven"), the clip portrays the polarized sides of an impassioned relationship.

"The video follows the intertwined stories of two people: a guy who's infatuated with and holding on to this idealistic version of his lover…which is not really who she is though. And the woman ultimately breaking free from his confines," says Hyde.

"Calling" is the new single off VAMPS' forthcoming album, "Underworld", due out April 28 on Eleven Seven Music. Produced by Howard Benson (HALESTORM, PAPA ROACH, MOTÖRHEAD) and Kane Churko (IN THIS MOMENT, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH), the disc includes the band's biggest streaming success to date, "Inside of Me", featuring Chris Motionless from MOTIONLESS IN WHITE. Also included on the album is "Rise Or Die", a collaboration with RAMMSTEIN guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe.

Upon the release of "Underworld", VAMPS will embark on a spring U.S. tour, kicking off May 2 in Birmingham, Alabama. The trek includes dates with I PREVAIL and STARSET, as well as a string of headline dates with support from newcomers PALAYE ROYALE and DARKE COMPLEX. The tour will wrap on May 27 with an appearance at Blackest of The Black festival in Irvine, California where VAMPS will play alongside DANZIG, MINISTRY and SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, amongst others.

Video footage of reactivated San Francisco Bay Area metallers SKINLAB performing on April 7 at The Boardwalk in Orangevale, Californai can be seen below (courtesy of Capital Chaos TV).

SKINLAB will hit the road this summer, following up a string of spring West Coast dates celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut album, "Bound, Gagged And Blindfolded". The band is currently working on new material for 2017 and beyond, with updates frequently posted on Facebook.

SKINLAB confirmed 2017 tour dates:

Apr. 08 - Oakland, CA @ The Uptown Nightclub (w/ KYNG, WHITE KNUCKLE RIOT, BLACK WATER BIRTH)Apr. 22 - Lake Tahoe, CA @ Hard Rock Hotel & CasinoMay 12 - Portland, OR @ Rock Hard PDX

Wendt will be unable to play the SKINLAB East Coast shows due to scheduling conflicts. A replacement guitarist for those dates has not yet been announced.

"Bound, Gagged And Blindfolded" was reissued in October 2007 via Century Media Records. The repackaged disc featured never-before-seen video footage and pictures with liner notes from Esquivel and Roberts along with new artwork layout.

SKINLAB has played sporadic shows in the last few years but hasn't released any new music since 2009's "The Scars Between Us" album.

The band has had different lineups throughout its history, with Esquivel as the only mainstay.

In a 2011 interview with Thrash Magazine, Esquivel stated about SKINLAB's sound: "Everyone said we were too death metal on 'Bound, Gagged And Blindfolded', which we didn't agree with. We've never really fit into any one genre. We're definitely not nu metal, which a lot of people think, and we're definitely not metalcore. We just write what feels good to us without losing the sound of SKINLAB. Everyone has their own opinion and interpretation on what genre we fall into."

Former CRUCIFIED BARBARA, DEATHSTARS Members Join Forces In THE HEARD

Former CRUCIFIED BARBARA, DEATHSTARS Members Join Forces In THE HEARD

Former CRUCIFIED BARBARA guitarist Klara "Force" Rönnqvist Fors, bassist Ida "Evileye" Stenbacka and drummer Nikki Wicked (a.k.a. Jannicke Lindström) have joined forces with DEATHSTARS bassist Jonas "Skinny Disco" Kangur (on lead guitar) and burlesque performer, model and singer Pepper Potemkin in a brand new band called THE HEARD.

THE HEARD's Facebook page describes the group as being about "heavy riffs, misty songs, dark waters and a death supreme."

THE HEARD is:

* Klara Force (CRUCIFIED BARBARA) - Guitar* Ida Evileye (CRUCIFIED BARBARA) - Bass * Nikki Wicked (CRUCIFIED BARBARA) - Drums* Jonas "Skinny Disco" Kangur (DEATHSTARS) - Lead Guitar* Pepper Potemkin - Vocals

CRUCIFIED BARBARA announced its breakup in June 2016, two years after the release of the band's fourth album, "In The Red". The group explained at the time that "our lives have parted and we need to move on. The last years have taken its toll on all of us and the joy of playing together got lost somewhere along the way." "In The Red" was released in September 2014. The CD was recorded at Music A Matic studio in Gothenburg with producer Chips Kiesby and engineer Henryk Lip, and was the follow-up to 2012's "The Midnight Chase".

UNLEASH THE ARCHERS Release “Cleanse The Bloodlines” Video

UNLEASH THE ARCHERS Release “Cleanse The Bloodlines” Video

"Cleanse The Bloodlines" is the first track off of Unleash The Archers’ upcoming album Apex.

Powerful front woman Brittney Slayes states:

"We are beyond stoked to finally debut a track from the new album, and this song was unanimously chosen as the first single by the whole band, no question. It's a heavy song so we wanted a heavy video, and we think that Richard (Olak, director) did an incredible job of capturing the essence of the album perfectly. It was a brutal two days of filming in zero degree weather, but it was worth it, and we think it turned out well. We filmed with a 6K RED Weapon, one of the best cameras out there right now, and the cinematic quality adds to the dark nature of the lyrical content.  We think our fans are really going to like this one!"

It has now been 10 years of Unleash The Archers. These heavy metal heroes are celebrating this honour with an exhilarating feast on their upcoming album, Apex, out on June 2nd via Napalm Records.

The band states: “We are extremely excited to release another full on concept album; it's just so much fun to play out a story when you're up on stage. This one has a protagonist that we call 'The Immortal' being forced to serve the antagonist, a.k.a. 'The Matriarch' as she embarks down a very dark path to achieve immortality. We had a great time writing this record, and I think the cohesiveness of the story has really shone through in the music as well. It has a certain vibe throughout, from beginning to end, and we can't wait to hear what our fans have to say about the direction this album has taken. We don't like to write the same record over and over again and we are very happy with the progression of our sound on Apex. We think it will appeal to all of our fans old and new; it has the best parts of our past albums combined into one with just a little more spit and polish.”

Ken Sarafin created the picturesque album artwork for Apex. This album takes nerves of steel; from its opener “Awakening” to the title track that closes the album, the listener will partake in a furious adventure, weaving through elements of the strongest metal genres of our time. You’ll be guided by the shimmering heat of sweeping lead guitars, face-melting solos, deafening growls, pummeling bass lines and of course the thrilling hooks of Brittney Slayes' queen-size voice.

Tracklisting:

“Awakening”
“Shadow Guide”
“The Matriarch”
“Cleanse The Bloodlines”
“The Coward's Way”
“False Walls”
“Ten Thousand Against One”
“Earth And Ashes”
“Call Me Immortal”

Video: New Lineup Of QUIET RIOT Performs In West Palm Beach, Florida

Video: New Lineup Of QUIET RIOT Performs In West Palm Beach, Florida

Fan-filmed video footage of QUIET RIOT's April 7 performance at Bowery Live in West Palm Beach, Florida can be seen below.

QUIET RIOT made its live debut with the band's seventh lead singer, "American Idol" finalist James Durbin, on March 18 at The Cotillion in Wichita, Kansas.

Durbin, who became known as the "metal guy" on 2011's season of "American Idol" after performing "Living After Midnight" and "Breaking The Law" with JUDAS PRIEST, joined QUIET RIOT in March after the dismissal of Seann Nicols (a.k.a. Sheldon Tarsha; formerly of ADLER'S APPETITE). Nicols was with QUIET RIOT for just a few months, but long enough to record the vocals for an early version the band's upcoming album, "Road Rage".

Prior to the Wichita show, Durbin — who recently collaborated with QUIET RIOT guitarist Alex Grossi on the "Maps To The Hollywood Scars" EP — explained his decision to join QUIET RIOT, saying that it was partly motivated by his desire to elevate the band's status to levels not seen in the decade following original singer Kevin DuBrow's death.

"Me stepping into QUIET RIOT is me wanting to use the attention that I have and the things that I have done to highlight a band that I feel is being forgotten, or is being remembered for the wrong reasons," he said.

"[The QUIET RIOT documentary 'Well Now You're Here, There's No Way Back' is] a great movie, it's a great story, it's tragic, it happens to every band. Whenever somebody loses a member, you go through this thing where you're trying to find somebody to fill that spot, and in some cases, it's just another guy, but in other cases, it's your best friend or your brother. And you've really gotta find people that you really gel with and really work with and really understand."

Drummer Frankie Banali revived QUIET RIOT in 2010, three years after DuBrow's death, along with Grossi and Wright. The group went through two vocalists — Mark Huff and Scott Vokoun — before settling on Jizzy Pearl in 2013. Pearl announced his exit from QUIET RIOT last October.

METALLICA Announces

METALLICA Announces 'Hit The Stage' Contest; Local Bands To Compete For Chance To Open

This summer, METALLICA's "WorldWired" tour hits stadiums across North America. The band has invited along special guests AVENGED SEVENFOLD and openers VOLBEAT or GOJIRA to join them through out the summer. However, as some fans have noticed, there are a handful of cities (five, to be exact!) where only one band from the bill is able to join. Since METALLICA have had so much fun checking out local bands that fans voted for to open the shows in other parts of the world (Central/South America, Copenhagen and Mexico City), it only seems natural to invite fans to once again voice their opinion and help choose a band. This time around, the group receiving the most fan votes will hit the stage first on their own five-city tour! The "mini" tour includes these five dates: May 19 - Foxborough, MA - Gillette Stadium (also with VOLBEAT) June 04 - St. Louis, MO - Busch Stadium (also with VOLBEAT)June 14 - San Antonio, TX - Alamodome (also with AVENGED SEVENFOLD)June 16 - Dallas, TX - AT&T Stadium (also with AVENGED SEVENFOLD)June 18 - Chicago, IL - Soldier Field (also with AVENGED SEVENFOLD) METALLICA fans will have the opportunity to vote in two phases. For the first phase, visit the sites of the radio partners below in each market. KEGL / DallasWLUP / ChicagoKISS / San AntonioKPNT / St Louis:

All the votes will be tabulated by the stations and two finalists from each contest will go head to head for votes in phase two on Metallica.com starting next week on April 14. Ten days later, the band with the most votes will be announced and can start packing their bags to head to their first gig in Foxborough at Gillette Stadium courtesy of METALLICA! Vote locally now and stay tuned to see who will open the shows in Foxborough, St. Louis, San Antonio, Dallas and Chicago on the "WorldWired" tour.

The North American leg of METALLICA's "WorldWired" 2017 tour kicks off on May 10 in Baltimore, Maryland and will hit stadiums in 25 cities before winding down in mid-August. Support on the quartet's first North American trek since 2009 will come mainly from AVENGED SEVENFOLD and VOLBEAT, with GOJIRA taking over for the latter group for the last six shows.

STEVE PERRY Reunites With JOURNEY, But Doesn

STEVE PERRY Reunites With JOURNEY, But Doesn't Sing At ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME Induction

Steve Perry reunited with JOURNEY for the first time in years as they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame earlier tonight (Friday, April 7). The iconic singer appeared onstage with his former bandmates as they each gave speeches, but did not perform with the group later in the event.

During his speech, Perry praised each of JOURNEY musicians as well as the band's current singer, Arnel Pineda, who was not being inducted into the Rock Hall. "I must give a shoutout to a man who sings his heart out every night, Arnel Pineda," Perry said.

Perry concluded his remarks by thanking the JOURNEY fans, crediting them for "put[ting] us here." He added: "You're the rock and roll hall of fame! From my heart, I must tell you, I've been gone a long time, [but] you've never not been in my heart. Thank you so very much."

After the individual speeches were completed, the Pineda-fronted version of JOURNEY performed three songs "Lights", "Separate Ways" and "Don't Stop Believin'".

Pineda, who has been the band's frontman since 2007, greeted Perry with open arms backstage at the ceremony.

"One the sweetest hug you can ever get from one of my heroes and silent mentors..it means the world to me..waited 35 years for this moment..thank you Almighty God," Pineda wrote alongside an Instagram photo of him hugging Perry.

Perry's final full concert with JOURNEY took place in early 1987. He later rejoined his bandmates for a brief performance in 1991 to honor late concert promoter Bill Graham. He also appeared with JOURNEY when they received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in 2005.

In addition to Perry and guitarist Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Ross Valory, Gregg Rolie and Aynsley Dunbar were inducted, as well as current drummer Steve Smith, who's on his third run with the group.

The 32nd annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony was held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the third time. An edited version will later air on HBO and there will be a radio broadcast on SiriusXM.

Artists are eligible for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 25 years after the release of their first album or single.

RUSH

RUSH's GEDDY LEE Joins YES For 'Roundabout' ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME Performance

RUSH's Geddy Lee joined members of YES on stage at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony to perform the song "Roundabout".

For the first time in well over a decade, founding YES frontman Jon Anderson took the stage alongside current YES members Steve Howe and Alan White, as well as former members Bill Bruford, Tony Kaye, Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman.

Lee and RUSH bandmate Alex Lifeson inducted YES into the Rock Hall, with the bassist/vocalist stating: "It's not overstating things to say it changed the way I played and listened to music forever. So here we are, decades later, and the music of YES is still echoing down through the years, showing me that music truly is a continuum." Lifeson described YES as "my gateway band in so many ways. There's nothing so fleeting yet enduring about the way music feels when you're 17 years old."

Following "Roundabout", Lee left the stage and the remaining musicians performed "Owner Of A Lonely Heart".

"Roundabout" originally appeared on the 1972 YES album "Fragile", which featured influential bassist Chris Squire. Squire passed away in 2015.

Asked what it was like to learn Squire's intricate bass parts, Lee told the press: "At first, difficult. After a while, difficult. They're a very precise band. Chris Squire was one of the most inventive-sounding bass players ever. So to play his parts… I mean, it's one thing to mimic his parts — you can mimic anything if you practice it — but to write those parts is sheer brilliance. It was a great honor for me to step in."

The release date of this live album happens to be about one year after the initial performance took place and almost coincides with the 2017 edition of the Frontiers Rock Festival as well.

The band took the stage by storm, opening the show with the title track from their last studio album and showcasing a very special lineup, which features H.E.A.T. keyboardist Jona Tee taking the place of Patrik Appelgren for this exclusive performance. Treat offered a show with a great mixture of new and recent songs taken from their latest album, the highly regarded 2010 release Coup De Grace, and classic songs from the good ol’ days including “World Of Promises”, “Get You On The Run”, and “Ready For The Taking”.

Says guitarist Anders Wikström, “As we haven’t released a live home video in 10 years, let alone a live album ever, and then Serafino asked us, we were more than delighted, and frankly, long overdue, to show our fans what we been up to for the last couple of years. With so many albums to choose from and our audience constantly asking for different songs in the setlist, this was a great opportunity to close one chapter, only to start writing the next. "The Road more or Less Traveled” is a great reminder for anyone to see that Treat is very much a living and breathing live entity!”

Treat’s performance was truly a unique and special one and this live video documents a great moment in the band’s history as well as serving as a celebration of one of Sweden’s finest hard rock bands ever!

"This year will take us right back we belong, on stage! We have some really cool surprises and will of course play the best of the new, but also older songs we haven’t performed in ages! See you all on tour through 2017,” concludes Anders.

The Road More or Less Traveled will be released on CD/DVD, Blu-Ray standalone, and digital editions.
