According to Alternative Press, AS I LAY DYING frontman Tim Lambesis has been released from prison after serving less than half of his six-year sentence for conspiracy to commit murder.

Lambesis was discharged from a California detention facility on December 17, 2016 and was transferred to the Division of Adult Parole Operations.

The news of Tim's release surfaced earlier today after BLABBERMOUTH.NET posted an interview with former DOKKEN axeman George Lynch from the Monsters Of Rock cruise in which the guitarist, whose daughter was once engaged to AS I LAY DYING's Nick Hipa, discussed his relationship with Lambesis. "He just got out of jail for attempting to kill his wife," George said during the chat. "He's got a mega record deal. He's got a book deal. Everything's lined up for him. I mean he's going to skate through life.

"Everybody else is suffering. His wife is living in fear. His children are living in fear."

Back in May 2014, Lambesis was given a six-year prison sentence without probation for his role in the murder-for-hire plot.

The now-36-year-old musician was arrested in May 2013 after handing the "hitman" — really an undercover police officer — $1,000 in cash, along with his wife's address and gate security codes.

Lambesis spent 24 days in a local jail (and given credit at sentencing for 48) after his initial arrest before he paid $160,000 in fees to the bondsman who posted his $2 million bail. The singer was on house arrest at his parents' home in Del Mar, California, wearing a GPS monitor, from June 2013 until his sentencing in May 2014.

Investigators said the undercover cop operation was staged after Lambesis told a man at his gym at Pure Fitness back in April 2013 that he wanted his wife killed. Lambesis was allegedly complaining that she was making life difficult for him, that it was hard for him to see his children and that it was impossible for them to complete their divorce.

"[Lambesis said that] he wasn't allowed to visit his kids, he wasn't allowed to see his kids, he wasn't allowed to take his kids out of the state to go on tour with him, and that angered him," the undercover officer testified. "And the fact that his wife was gonna get a large portion — up to 60 percent — of his income [as part of a divorce settlement]."

Two weeks before his sentencing, Lambesis gave an interview to a probation officer, who then prepared a report which included the following quotes from Tim:

"There is not a day that goes by that I don't wish I could undo this….

"An apology to Meggan does not seem like enough to make it up to her. I don't have any animosity towards her and I have deep remorse….

"We had a difficult separation…. I was trying to fight for my kids through the courts but was not seeing any results. I felt helpless and I began to feel desperate….

"I was in a different mindset due to the separation and custody experience and my mind was altered due to the steroid use.

"My steroid use was affecting many decisions in my life.

"I am not a risk to her (Meggan) in the slightest way….

"If you look at the majority of my life, this was out of character for me. I don't have a history of violence. I have never been an angry person. Given the potential of my future, I feel that I can be an asset to others if I am allowed to remain in the community."

Lambesis in 2015 filed a lawsuit against a California medical team alleging that he was not given a prescribed medication for nearly two months prior to his incarceration, resulting in him developing gynecomastia (enlarged breasts). Public records show that his lawsuit was dismissed in October 2016 with prejudice, possibly because the parties had reached a settlement agreement.

Metal Mark of Ghost Cult magazine recently conducted an interview with guitarist/vocalist Mille Petrozza of German thrash metal veterans KREATOR. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Ghost Cult: Throughout the thirty years, you've seen the metal scene go through many trends, yet the band has stayed relevant amongst all of it. How do you best explain how you've accomplished that?

Mille: "That's a good question. I think it simply comes down to us trying to do our best at all times. Plus, we have to live up to our name. If you're in KREATOR, and you stop being creative, what's the point? That may sound kind of cheesy, but it's true. Either we live up to the name, and what it stands for, or there's no point for us to release any new music. Luckily, we've had the right members come in and out over the years to keep the creative juices flowing, and I feel like we are as strong as we've ever been right now. I feel like you can really hear that in the new record, and that makes it very special to me."

Ghost Cult: This new record ["Gods Of Violence"] comes out four years after "Phantom Antichrist" was released, and the response to that album was massive. Did that put any extra pressure on you guys when you began writing the new material?

Mille: "I would say it did, but in a good way. It gave us a healthy push to do our very best. I'll be honest, it was a real challenge to top that record, but I think we've done it. We knew how much fans enjoyed that record, so when we began writing the new music, we really wanted to give the fans something just as exciting, if not more, you know. I know a lot of bands write for themselves, as we do, but we really want to make sure the fans are happy as well. If it has the KREATOR name on it, it has to be something special."

Ghost Cult: As you always have, you guys released the two singles with videos, and they came out amazing. A lot of bands have lost faith in videos, yet you continue to put so much effort and time into each one. Why are they still so important to you?

Mille: "I love videos. I always have, and I always will. I think that it's a great way to support the music, and visually make it come to life. I know there aren't any outlets on television anymore, but YouTube is huge, and people still watch them, and it gets them talking. Some people love them, some don't. Either way, it brings up discussion, which is a good thing. We will continue to release videos for as long as we can. It's an important thing in KREATOR, and the two we've released so far came out spectacular."

Ghost Cult: The lyrics on this record focus a lot on the violence surrounding us, and it seems like every day we hear about another shooting, or terrorist attack. Humans are supposed to evolve, but it seems like we've been going backwards recently, and hate is leading the way.

Mille: "It's interesting and scary to look at the world right now. As you said, we hear about a new tragedy every day, and the ugliness seems to overthrow the beauty of this world. All we can do is stay optimistic and cherish the good times when they happen. I truly believe we will be okay, even in the confusing times we live in now. We just must stay positive and promote the beautiful things. For KREATOR, we promote our music, peace, and the idea of a healthy lifestyle. I think that's as much as we can do in a band. We have a voice, so we should use it for good things, and help people escape what's going on around them. I'm very proud to say that we've done that for over thirty years now."

DREAM THEATER guitarist John Petrucci has weighed in on underdog Donald Trump's stunning upset of Hillary Clinton in the U.S. presidential election, saying that everybody should give the real estate mogul a chance to perform and deliver on his promises.

Trump surprised the political establishment and the world by becoming the 45th president in one of the biggest upsets in U.S. political history. He won with 306 electoral votes compared to 232 for Hillary Clinton. 270 were needed to win. Clinton, however, handily won the popular vote, despite losing the overall election.

Acknowledging that it was "a wild period" leading up to Trump's election in November, Petrucci admitted to Spark TV (part of the Czech monthly magazine Spark) that, as an American, he was "very actively interested in the election process," calling it "a forever-changing landscape in so many ways."

Asked for his opinion of Trump as President, Petrucci said (see video below): "I like him. I think that we should give him a chance and see what he can do. He's obviously very different. He's not a politician, but he's a successful man, and let's see what he can do, and I think great things are in store. So hopefully everybody will give him a chance and see what happens."

DREAM THEATER is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its milestone RIAA-gold-certified album "Images And Words" on a European tour, which kicked off on January 30 in Rome, Italy. Each performance sees the iconic progressive rock band delivering an unparalleled live set of "Images And Words" in its entirety along with fan favorites from their renowned catalog.

In a brand new interview with Newsweek, METALLICA frontman James Hetfield spoke about the band's tributes to Ronnie James Dio and MOTÖRHEAD's Lemmy Kilmister on the deluxe edition of METALLICA's new album, "Hardwired… To Self-Destruct", with the songs "Ronnie Rising Medley" and "Murder One", respectively.

"We all have our mentors, and we need them, or at least I do," Hetfield explained. "I need someone who I'm lookin' up to, to either try and chase or learn from. We were asked by Dio's wife, Wendy, to contribute to [2014's 'Ronnie James Dio - This Is Your Life' tribute album]. And that was kind of a no-brainer. We're no strangers to doing covers. So the 'Ronnie Rising Medley' was kind of a combination of all the good stuff we loved from Dio. It's great to challenge myself with singing stuff like that. It helps me grow. And it also helps me push limits that I think I'm stuck in."

He continued: "Lemmy in particular was an icon, sort of a godfather for people who love heavy metal. He was the captain of the ship. And we all felt he was immortal [laughs], doing the hard, hard, hard livin' for such a long time on the road, and just really goin' for it. [Laughs] We knew it would come to an end at some point. But we really didn't expect it. There's certainly no METALLICA without a MOTÖRHEAD."

Hetfield added: "We would get to jam with Lemmy. He was a very friendly guy. We covered quite a few of their songs. You know, MOTÖRHEAD never made it into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, which is a shame. But he did win a Grammy for a song called 'Whiplash' that we had recorded on 'Kill 'Em All'. We were trying to write a MOTÖRHEAD song. He covered our song [for MOTÖRHEAD's 2006 album, 'Kiss Of Death'] that was kind inspired by him, and he wins a Grammy for it. That is very cool."

During a September 2016 Town Hall event at SiriusXM's New York studios, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich stated about the inspiration for "Murder One": "In the summer of 1981, I followed MOTÖRHEAD around on tour. That was what made me want to be in a band. When I came back to Southern California and called up James and said, 'Listen, we've got to give this a shot,' ... MOTÖRHEAD is the catalyst."

Shortly after Lemmy's passing, Ulrich penned a lengthy tribute to the MOTÖRHEAD mainman in which looked back on the influence Lemmy had not just on METALLICA but also on him personally.

"I was down at [Lemmy's] 70th party [on December 13, 2015 at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood], and I got a chance to sit with him for about ten minutes, just him and me. I told him that his obligation to the rock and roll community was to live forever because his birthday party was like a hard-rock class reunion," he wrote in part. "Everybody was there because Lemmy's one of the few people we can all agree on who is just the coolest guy ever. We would all show up. I told him it was his obligation to live forever, because he was the reason we could all get together and celebrate hard rock and celebrate MOTÖRHEAD and see familiar faces because we're all so scattered now. Obviously I could tell that he was in deteriorating health but we had a close bond, one that didn't necessarily need to be reaffirmed or articulated. The less we said the more we knew the connection was there."

Lars added: "Whenever METALLICA played L.A., [Lemmy] would always come and watch us, and whenever MOTÖRHEAD was up here, we'd always go and see them play. We probably crossed paths 50 to 100 times in the last 20 years, and he came and played with us onstage multiple times. It was a bond that deep and it goes back to the crazy summer of 1981.

"I will always appreciate and forever cherish all the great times we had together, but especially those early days. We were so vulnerable, so moldable because a significant part of who we've become, both in the band and as people, is directly due to not just him but all the rest of the people who were inspired and drank from the same bottles and shared the same stories and same space. His spirit will always live in us."

"Hardwired... To Self-Destruct" came out in November. The effort consists of two discs, containing a dozen songs and nearly 80 minutes of music.

Richie Kotzen has never been an artist known for playing by the rules. And for this ever-adventurous triple-threat songwriter/guitarist/vocalist, that meant putting on the brakes after a nonstop flurry of band-related activity in order to refuel the creative process for the ten heartfelt and hard-hitting songs that comprise his new, vibrant 21st solo album, "Salting Earth", out April 14 via his own custom label, Headroom-Inc. Kotzen tossed convention on its ear by actually taking one step back in order to move two steps forward. "It's something I really needed to do in order to reset myself," he explains. Kotzen's "charge to recharge" was officially put into play following the mega-success of the 2015–16 tour behind his band THE WINERY DOGS' sophomore effort, the oh-so-appropriately named "Hot Streak". And the man's reset manifesto wound up hitting all the right buttons too. The proof is on display deep within the grooves of "Salting Earth", which veers from the balls-out, heads-up declaration of the opening track and first single, "End Of Earth", to the burning-sky harmonic thrust of "Thunder" to the Prince-like funk-jazz swing of "This Is Life" to the acoustified take-me-as-I-am self-reflection of the album's final song, "Grammy". The majority of "Salting Earth" is the result of Kotzen's one-man production machine, with the exception of Julia Lage adding background vocals to "Make It Easy", a tasty, sing-along groove stew. "It's really not deliberate when the record is finished and suddenly I'm the only performer on it," Kotzen admits. "It actually comes out of my process of writing and documenting my ideas. It started back in the late '80s when I had a makeshift studio in my parents' barn. I grew up fairly isolated, and I soon realized in order to get this music out of my head and onto a format where I could listen to it, I'd have to figure out how to do it alone." Kotzen's previous solo release, 2015's diverse, far-reaching "Cannibals", was a well-received hit among his core fan base, and "Salting Earth" cuts like the aforementioned "End Of Earth", "Thunder" and "Divine Power" all showcase the scorching guitar solos and soaring vocals that one would expect from a Kotzen solo album. That said, there's also quite a vulnerable side on display here that's perhaps best demonstrated in the stripped-down approach to the album's closing salvo, "Grammy". "That song came to me in the oddest way at the most inconvenient time," he reveals of the track that can be filed in the "first thought, best thought" category. One night when he was home alone, "I basically woke myself up with the chorus melody in my head, and in my haze, I knew that if I didn't at least record the idea, it would be forever lost. I ended up programming a simple drum beat, and then recorded the acoustic guitar. The lyrics pretty much wrote themselves. By 6 in the morning, the song was finished. I was going to do more overdubs, but I kept playing it over and over, and I just felt like there was something so personal coming out of the speakers. By messing with it, I'd likely destroy the magic — so I left it as it is." Bringing "Salting Earth" live to the people is Kotzen's next holy mission. "My real outlet is touring — playing live as much as I can, wherever I can, whenever I can," he says enthusiastically. "It's one of the few things you can't copy, steal, or download. It's an engaging human experience that's a give-and-take between both the performer and the audience, and there is nothing else like it on this earth." Kotzen will launch his "Salting Earth" tour on April 21 at The Canyon club in Agoura Hills, California. Wednesday 13, who mixes punk rock and metal with kitschy horror imagery and who is formerly one half of the MURDERDOLLS braintrust, has signed a deal with Nuclear Blast Entertainment. His seventh solo studio album, titled "Condolences", will be released on June 2. The follow-up to 2015's "Monsters Of The Universe" was produced by Chris "Zeuss" Harris, who previously worked with Wednesday 13 and guitarist Roman on the 2010 MURDERDOLLS album "Women & Children Last". Commented Wednesday 13: "We're so excited to finally announce that we have signed with Nuclear Blast Entertainment! It's an honor for us to be on the roster among so many other great bands and friends. Thanks to Nuclear Blast for giving us the opportunity and our fans for your undying support. We're looking forward to many more years of this with all of you." Wednesday 13 will hit the road in the U.K. later this month with his "Undead, Unplugged" tour. The intimate evening features an extended set of acoustic versions taken from his extensive catalog, plus a wealth of tales regaled from years on the road with early projects MANIAC SPIDER TRASH and the FRANKENSTEIN DRAG QUEENS, through to the debauched heights of MURDERDOLLS and his lengthy current solo career. Dutch death metallers GOD DETHRONED have set "The World Ablaze" as the title of their new album, due on May 5 via Metal Blade Records. The band's first disc since 2010's "Under The Sign Of The Iron Cross" is the third (and final) part of the World War I trilogy.

Swedish producer and multi-instrumentalist Dan Swanö, who mixed "The World Ablaze", comments: "GOD DETHRONED have taken a great turn on the fields of death metal. This album is a great combination of all kinds of tempos and styles the genre has to offer, each performed with crushing perfection, and catchy choruses and memorable melodic hooks! Will go down well among fans of BOLT THROWER (R.I.P.) and some of the other Dutch death brigades I've had the pleasure of working with!"

GOD DETHRONED will play two German CD-release shows in early May and two Dutch concerts the following weekend.

GOD DETHRONED made a comeback at the January 2015 edition of 70000 Tons Of Metal — three years after playing a "farewell" show at the same cruise.

American power trio PRONG will release its new studio album, "Zero Days", in the summer via Steamhammer/SPV.

A European "Zero Days" tour, featuring appearances at some of the most coveted festivals as well as a run of headline shows, will kick off on June 16 at the Graspop Metal Meeting in Dessel, Belgium.

Says PRONG founder Tommy Victor: "Europe is a special place for PRONG and 2017 is shaping up to be another touring year for the history books. Many great festivals and great clubs are on the agenda and we will be bringing some new music along as well! We are extremely excited!"

PRONG spent the better part of October and November 2016 trekking through Europe with OBITUARY, EXODUS and KING PARROT as part of the "Battle Of The Bays" tour. In April/May, they will be touring North America with TESTAMENT and SEPULTURA.

PRONG's latest album, "X - No Absolutes", was released in February 2016 through SPV/Steamhammer as a digipak (including bonus track+poster), 2LP gatefold version (colored vinyl, CD in paper sleeve) and as a digital download.

Asked by From Hero To Zero if he thinks music streaming services are helping artists or are slowly killing them, Tommy said: "It depends what bracket you are in, financially; that is an issue. I think larger artists are generally greedy in a lot of ways. And when it gets to a point where you're financially secure for the rest of your life, I don't see why these guys are really worried about it too much. Not to brag about my lifestyle, but I still rent a room in a house and I live very frugally, and that's the only way I could survive [while] keeping the band going. I've had to make those sacrifices. I think people's heads get really big. I have no problem with streaming. I'm not really doing this to make a whole lot of money; that's not really my source of energy with the whole thing. And it's just a calling, and I do it, and I enjoy what I do, and I keep it simple with the motivation. If people wanna be greedy, let them be greedy, and that doesn't really apply to my life too much."

BIOHAZARD's Billy Graziadei and former FEAR FACTORY bassist/guitarist Christian Olde Wolbers have joined forces in a new band called POWERFLO. The group, whose lineup is rounded out by Sen Dog from CYPRESS HILL, Rogelio Lozano from DOWNSET, and Brazilian drummer Fernando Schaefer, is putting the finishing touches on its debut album for a tentative late spring release via New Damage Records. The effort was mixed by Jay Baumgardner and is being mastered by Maor Appelbaum.

Regarding how the name for the new project came about, Christian told The New American Media at last month's NAMM show (see video below): "Basically, Sen Dog was spitting his game on some of the heavy riffs and shit. And he was, like, 'Do you like this?' And Roy, the other guitar player, said, 'Yeah. A power flow. That's good.' So that's where it kind of came from."

During the same interview, Graziadei described POWERFLO's musical direction as a cross between IRON MAIDEN, BLACK SABBATH and CYPRESS HILL, and expressed hope that the new project would hit the road later in the year.

In February 2016, BIOHAZARD parted ways with its frontman of five years, Scott Roberts. A replacement singer has not yet been announced.

Olde Wolbers hinted in an interview last fall that he would join BIOHAZARD as the band's new frontman, but the group has not confirmed his involvement.

The last BIOHAZARD album, 2012's "Reborn In Defiance", featured Evan Seinfeld on lead vocals.

The official performance video for "Crooked Teeth", a brand new song from PAPA ROACH, can be seen below. The clip was produced and directed by Bryson Roatch, with additional footage by Mario Yupanqui. The track is taken from the band's upcoming album, which is tentatively due later in the year.

PAPA ROACH singer Jacoby Shaddix told "The Scotty Mars Show" about the follow-up to 2015's "F.E.A.R.": "I definitely feel there's a change in the sound of the band on this record, more so than in the past. Our goal was to go in and kind of shake things up on this record. This is our ninth or tenth album — I don't even know now — and we just wanted to kind of go in there and freak it. So when we were picking producers, we wanted to go outside the box, so we picked these two young, up-and-coming producers from Los Angeles Nick [Nicholas 'Ras' Furlong] and Colin ['Doc' Brittain], and got in the studio with these guys. And, you know, they're young — they're, like, I guess in their late 20s, so they're kind of like the younger bucks in the scene. And they were, like, 'Yo, dude, we grew up on listening to P-ROACH, so we know what you guys are about. And let's shake it up.' And so we went in. We started cutting tracks and then I just started rapping on a bunch of the tracks again and kind of bringing some of that old-school sound back mixed with where we have evolved to as a band. And so it sounds like if our first album, [2000's] 'Infest', had a baby with our third album, [2004's] 'Getting Away With Murder', and had a baby in 2016."

Asked about PAPA ROACH's musical and visual evolution since the band's inception more than twenty years ago, Jacoby said: "I feel that's just kind of [happened] organically. It's, like, the image of the band and the style and the image that represents us is evolving, 'cause the style and the sound of our music has always been something that's evolved. And so it's just kind of a natural progression for the band. But this new record, in a way, just feels more 'street,' if that makes sense. It's just grimy and it's edgy and the story telling that I'm doing on this record is reflective of my youth, but then it's also from my perspective now as a man in this world. So it's a powerful record, man. And plus, there's some walls that we broke down that we just got weird. You know, we were, like, 'We wrote records back in the day when we just didn't give a shit, when we weren't thinking about just going, 'All right, let's write the next rock radio single.' 'Cause, you know, looking at music from that lens all the time, or, 'Let's write a hit,' it just kind of makes things a little more stock. And so we wanted to freak the funk, and so we did, with different arrangements and instrumentation and all kinds of different things. It was a fun process."

PAPA ROACH recorded the new album at Steakhouse studio in North Hollywood, California, which gave the band a whole different feel. Jacoby told the "Whiplash" radio show: "L.A. brought a whole different kind of gnarly, rugged street vibe out of our band. I think that's kind of the thing that we lost over the course of our records...it's like, 'Go back and rediscover your struggle, homie. Rediscover what people are going through out on the street.'"

Shaddix added: "I do a lot of work out in the community back home, helping people in need and stuff like that, and I see that the struggle is real. We're in North Hollywood, so it's, like, gunshots are going off, and we're, like, hanging outside the studio. Helicopters are flying over. And I'm, like, 'This is where I need to be making a record.'"

ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell has contributed a song called "A Job To Do" to the soundtrack of the upcoming action thriller "John Wick: Chapter 2". The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 10 via Varèse Sarabande in conjunction with the opening of the movie, while the physical version will arrive on March 3. Cantrell performed the song with help from Tyler Bates, who also composed the score for the film.

"John Wick: Chapter 2" was directed by Chad Stahelski and stars Keanu Reeves, Common, Riccardo Scamarcio, Laurence Fishburne, Ruby Rose, Bridget Moynahan, Lance Reddick, Franco Nero, John Leguizamo and Ian McShane. The sequel to the highly acclaimed 2014 action thriller follows the legendary hitman as he is forced back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins' guild.

Cantrell said in a statement: "I really dug 'John Wick' and have always admired Keanu's work. When the opportunity arose to create a song for the second film, Tyler Bates and I wrote and recorded 'A Job To Do', a theme song for the character. Can't wait to see it!" Added Bates: "Jerry and I are friends and neighbors. We got together to jam and came up with the music. He's a fan of the first John Wick movie and wrote the lyrics from John Wick's introspective."

Regarding the overall feel of "John Wick: Chapter 2 - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack", Bates said: "'John Wick: Chapter 2' expands on the rock/electronic hybrid of 'John Wick'. It's a much more aggressive and frenetic score throughout."

He continued: "The new film pulls no punches, weapons, or fighting techniques, which required the music to change gears and tone at every turn. It's completely insane. Joel [J. Richard, co-writer] introduced an element of opera to the score that really makes the dark sense of humor (buried in the floor with John's weapons and coins) rather apparent." "A Job To Do" marks the first time Cantrell has recorded music under his own name since releasing his second solo album, "Degradation Trip", in 2002.

ALICE IN CHAINS recently returned to the studio to work on its sixth full-length album.

The new effort will follow up 2013's "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here", which featured the rock radio hits "Stone" and "Hollow".

"The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" was the band's second disc with singer William Duvall, who joined in 2006 following the 2002 death of founding vocalist Layne Staley.

"Chasing Demons", the newly released song from JASTA, the solo project of HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta, can be streamed below. The track features guest vocals from former KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and current DEVIL YOU KNOW singer Howard Jones.

JASTA will open the first ten shows of the upcoming KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and ANTHRAX tour — including the two KILLSWITCH ENGAGE headline shows that do not feature ANTHRAX.

"I rarely get to tour with JASTA and since the rest of my year is booked up with HATEBREED tours, I jumped at the chance to hit the road and debut some new JASTA songs with some of my favorite people in metal," said Jasta. Jamey's debut solo album, "Jasta", sold around 4,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 133 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD landed at position No. 1 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

AC/DC guitarist Angus Young is rumored to be making a guest appearance with GUNS N' ROSES at their shows in Sydney, Australia Friday and Saturday night.

GUNS N' ROSES bassist Duff McKagan tweeted earlier today that Angus greeted him and his bandmates when they arrived in Sydney. In addition, Fernando Lebeis, who is part of GN'R's management team, posted a photo on Instragam of a nice flower arrangement with a "Welcome to Sydney!" card signed by Angus and the guitarist's wife Ellen. "I have missed these two, Angus and Ella. AC/DC Family," Lebeis wrote.

Further fueling the speculation of a Young-GUNS N' ROSES jam is the revelation that fans who attended GUNS N' ROSES' Brisbane show earlier this week told the Australian GN'R fan page Guns Over Oz that the band played some AC/DC songs during its Brisbane soundcheck.

Young previously joined GUNS N' ROSES on stage in April 2016 at the Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival to perform the AC/DC classics "Riff Raff" and "Whole Lotta Rosie".

GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose replaced Brian Johnson last year for U.S. and European AC/DC dates after the longtime AC/DC singer was ordered off the road by doctors due to hearing issues.

The Australian leg of GUNS N' ROSES' "Not In This Lifetime" tour kicked off in Brisbane, and continues in Sydney on Friday and Saturday, before heading to Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

Toronto-based Famous Underground, featuring former Slik Toxik frontman Nick Walsh, will  release a new digital single entitled "Corrupted" on February 24th. Nordjevel was founded by frontman Doedsadmiral (Svartelder, Doedsvangr, Enepsigos) and guitarist Nord (Fatal Impact, Tvangeste, Byrdi), and, making use of Doedsadmiral's considerable skills at bringing together musicians who are not only hugely experienced, but who also share the same musical ideas and ideals, the band's ranks were quickly swelled by Marduk's Fredrik Widigs on drums, and former Ragnarok bassist DzeptiCunt. With Nordjevel's distinctive sound firmly set, the band have added another guitarist to their lineup in the shape of Morten "Noralf" Kleftaas, who had previously appeared with the band as a session live guitarist. 
 
The success of the band's debut album meant that virtually overnight offers started to come in for live appearances, and, as a result, Nordjevel have handed their booking and management responsibilities to the Flaming Arts Agency. Commenting on the new collaboration the band had this to say:
 
"We have to admit that the success of the debut album caught us a little by surprise. We knew we had something special, but the response from the fans and critics was overwhelming, and resulted in a lot of interest in us playing live. We had to totally rethink everything very quickly, and came up with what we consider to be a perfect solution - and that was teaming up with Flaming Arts.  Patricia Thomas, who has been Doedsadmiral's personal manager for longer than either of them care to remember, and who works with all his projects, will continue handling all of Nordjevel's PR. She and Flaming Arts have frequently worked together over the years and know how each other functions, which is a big plus for everyone concerned as there is no learning process.  So now we have a great band and a great team, and we can look forward to the future, which will include more live appearances world-wide".
 
Aside from preparing for their already confirmed live appearances, which include a UK tour in April, a US tour in May, which will culminate in an appearance at the Maryland Deathfest, and an appearance at the Gothoom Open Air Festival in Slovakia in July, Nordjevel are currently working on their second full-length album.

It was 30 years ago that Jesters Of Destiny’s Fun At The Funeral debut was released on the short-lived Metal Blade subsidiary, Dimension Records. A year later, they released the all-covers record In A Nostalgic Mood, after which the band was unceremoniously hacked from the Metal Blade stable and, unable to land another deal for their third album, No Laughing Matter, they quietly disappeared, with all the main participants going on to other pursuits.

All these years later, on April 7th via Ektro Records, Jesters Of Destiny are back with The Sorrows That Refuse To Drown, an all-new record of the kind of hard rock/metal that only they made. This poses the question: Why? Bruce Duff and Ray Violet, the co-band leaders and production team behind everything the band recorded, are as perplexed as everyone else.

"Ray and I were recording new material independently at home, and we sent each other some things and said, 'These seem like songs the Jesters would do,'" says Bruce. "So we started making more, and getting more people involved, and all of a sudden - it was anything but sudden, actually - it seemed like we were making a Jesters Of Destiny album."

In the subsequent years from the original days of the Jesters, Bruce went on to play with the Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs, Angus Khan, the Adz (Adolescents), Jeff Dahl, and producing the likes of Prima Donna and Thor. Ray produced God Lives Underwater, Tim Harrington (Masters of Reality), Rozz Williams, and engineered R&B legends the Temptations, Shalamar, and By All Means. Both always held the Jesters as a high point in their careers, certainly creatively if not commercially. Indeed, the Jesters might have been just a bit ahead of the curve. According to Wikipedia and Allmusic.com (and even a Creem Metal interview from the band’s own time), Jesters Of Destiny were quite possibly the first “aternative metal" band. Ray and Bruce always wondered, "What exactly is ‘alternative metal,' anyway?"

"Our music always had a lot of elements in it, whatever was around that we were listening to," recalls Ray. "Black Sabbath mingled with Prince in our world, along with Jane’s Addiction and the Chocolate Watch Band. If we liked it, it went into the mix."

This is still true today, with The Sorrows That Refuse To Drown bookended by the thunder-riffs of "Fire In The Six Feet Hole" and "Another Fire Six Feet Deep." Along the way, there’s the soundscape "Ladies of Runyon Canyon," the mini-documentary of "The Misunderstood," a recasting of Screaming Lord Sutch’s very first single "'Til The Following Night," and even a waltz with no drums, "Happy Ending”.

"We always called what we did Gleeful Gloom," notes Bruce. "With 30 years of real life since Funeral, we might be leaning a bit more on the gloom side. We wanted to lighten the load at the end, hence 'Happy Ending.' Also, however deep we lean into our own trials, Ray still really likes songs about the devil. If it ain’t broke..."

The Sorrows That Refuse To Drown is being issued on vinyl, and digitally on CD and download/streaming. The vinyl and digital versions are different from each other. The CD has different mixes of two of the songs, and three songs not on the vinyl, including a cover of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s "Two Minutes Silence”. "It took some work for us to get that one just right," confirms Ray.

Philadelphia's heavy psych quartet, Ecstatic Vision, return with their sophomore album, Raw Rock Fury, the follow-up to 2015’s Sonic Praise. The band’s new song, “You Got It (Or You Don’t)”, is available for streaming below.

Polish black/death metal tyrants and recent Agonia Records signees, Azarath, are ready to move forward with new music. On April 7th, the band (featuring drummer Inferno of long-time Behemoth fame) will return with their most furious sonic statement to date, a new album titled In Extremis. The eerie painting that adorns the album's cover was made by Marta Promińska (Hypnagogic Painting).

Meaning "at the point of death" or "under extreme circumstances" in Latin, In Extremis is yet another apex reached by Azarath. Offering a vehement ride through the netherworlds, the effort arrives six long years after its predecessor, Blasphemers' Maledictions (2011), and places the band back at the fore of the genre, with strong ties to the group's early cult albums. Black as a night and dense as tar, In Extremis offers a whirlwind of chaotic currents ready to overwhelm.

Recorded in various locations between March and November 2016, the opus was mixed and mastered by Haldor Grunberg at Satanic Audio. Graphic design and layout were done by Mentalporn (Behemoth, Origin, Decapitated) with calligraphy provided by Ihasan Art and additional work by Holy Poison Design.

WEAR YOUR WOUNDS has unveiled the first music video off its eponymous debut album. The clip, which was directed by Max Moore, can be seen below.

Founded by CONVERGE's Jacob Bannon, WEAR YOUR WOUNDS is the product of years of lo-fi solo recordings that have sat on the backburner until now.

Bannon commented on the track and video: "The song is about the psychological effects of negative experiences and ultimately not allowing them to define who you are and wish to be. I feel that most people can likely relate to that message in some way. The video is a recreation of the album cover and other visuals in the album. The character creates a ladder to ascend to the sky. Looking for answers, hoping for a metaphorical confrontation in some way. The character also wears a mirror, being a literal reflection of the world that surrounds."

"Wear Your Wounds" will be released on April 7 via Deathwish. Joining Bannon on the effort are guest musicians Kurt Ballou (CONVERGE), Mike McKenzie (THE RED CHORD, STOMACH EARTH, UNRAVELLER), Chris Maggio (SLEIGH BELLS, TRAP THEM, COLISEUM) and Sean Martin (HATEBREED, CAGE, KID CUDI, TWITCHING TONGUES). The album is comprised of ten emotionally heavy songs that call to the slower, more epic leanings of CONVERGE, as well as Bannon's previous work in SUPERMACHINER. WEAR YOUR WOUNDS will debut in a live setting on April 22 at the Roadburn festival in Tilburg, The Netherlands as part of John Dyer Baizley's curation.
