Watch METALLICA's Video For LEMMY Tribute Song 'Murder One'METALLICA's video for the song "Murder One" can be seen below. The clip was directed by Robert Valley, who has built his reputation as a much-wanted hired-gun on other people's projects, from the GORILLAZ music videos to the "Tron: Uprising" series.
"Murder One" is is a tribute to late MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy Kilmister and uses many of his songtitles in the lyrics. METALLICA frontman James Hetfield stated about the track: "'Murder One' was the name of [Lemmy's] amplifier, his favorite amp on stage. And I loved being murdered every night by that thing, man. He was just such an icon, such an inspiration to us as a band. There's certainly no way we'd be around if there was no MOTÖRHEAD. And, you know, to see your idol, your immortal one, actually be mortal, it hit us pretty hard. So I felt, lyrically, it makes sense to acknowledge him and how much he's meant in our lives."
During the September 26 Town Hall event at SiriusXM's New York studios, Hetfield stated about the inspiration for "Murder One": "MOTÖRHEAD had a lot to do with METALLICA sitting here right now. But just Lemmy as an entity, as kind of a father figure, he helped us a lot. He was unafraid. And he was a character. And he was himself. And we all respected that so much. He did his own thing to the last breath. No matter who you are, how could you not be inspired by that?"
"In the summer of 1981, I followed MOTÖRHEAD around on tour," METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich added . "That was what made me want to be in a band. When I came back to Southern California and called up James and said, 'Listen, we've got to give this a shot,' ... MOTÖRHEAD is the catalyst."
Shortly after Lemmy's passing, Ulrich penned a lengthy tribute to the MOTÖRHEAD mainman in which looked back on the influence Lemmy had not just on METALLICA but also on him personally.
"I was down at [Lemmy's] 70th party [on December 13, 2015 at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood], and I got a chance to sit with him for about ten minutes, just him and me. I told him that his obligation to the rock and roll community was to live forever because his birthday party was like a hard-rock class reunion," he wrote in part. "Everybody was there because Lemmy's one of the few people we can all agree on who is just the coolest guy ever. We would all show up. I told him it was his obligation to live forever, because he was the reason we could all get together and celebrate hard rock and celebrate MOTÖRHEAD and see familiar faces because we're all so scattered now. Obviously I could tell that he was in deteriorating health but we had a close bond, one that didn't necessarily need to be reaffirmed or articulated. The less we said the more we knew the connection was there."
Lars added: "Whenever METALLICA played L.A., [Lemmy] would always come and watch us, and whenever MOTÖRHEAD was up here, we'd always go and see them play. We probably crossed paths 50 to 100 times in the last 20 years, and he came and played with us onstage multiple times. It was a bond that deep and it goes back to the crazy summer of 1981.
"I will always appreciate and forever cherish all the great times we had together, but especially those early days. We were so vulnerable, so moldable because a significant part of who we've become, both in the band and as people, is directly due to not just him but all the rest of the people who were inspired and drank from the same bottles and shared the same stories and same space. His spirit will always live in us."
"Murder One" is featured on METALLICA's new album, "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct", which is due out November 18. The effort consists of two discs, containing a dozen songs and nearly 80 minutes of music.
MOTÖRHEAD won the "Best Metal Performance" Grammy in 2005 for its cover version of the METALLICA song "Whiplash".
At a 1995 gig at the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, members of METALLICA celebrated Lemmy's 50th birthday by taking the stage as a wigged tribute band dubbed the LEMMYS.
In a 2011 interview with Metal Insider, Lemmy said: "You can't top METALLICA. They're really a fucking excellent band. I'm delighted that they said that I was one of their influences. Like, they have all of their influences, and you can't hear the influences in them, which is great. They've become their own people, and that's great. I like them a lot. I've spent a lot of time with those boys." 17

Video Premiere: RITCHIE BLACKMORE's Resurrected RAINBOW Performs 'Man On The Silver Mountain' In GermanyIn June 2016, legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore made many long-held dreams come true for his fans as RITCHIE BLACKMORE'S RAINBOW played three concerts in Europe, two in Germany and one in England. The two German shows at Loreley and Bietigheim were caught on camera to produce "Memories In Rock - Live In Germany", which will be released via Eagle Rock Entertainment on DVD+2CD, Blu-ray+2CD, and digital formats on November 18. A deluxe version (DVD, Blu-ray and 2CD in a 48-page hardback photobook), along with a 3LP version (180-gram vinyl), will be available as an import on December 2.
This film captures the long-awaited return to rock music for Ritchie Blackmore. The setlist, combining classic tracks from both DEEP PURPLE and RAINBOW, was exactly what the fans had wished for. Filmed in high definition, this jaw-dropping set includes "Catch The Rainbow", "Mistreated", "Since You Been Gone", "Black Night", "Spotlight Kid", "Smoke On The Water", "Stargazer", "Perfect Strangers", and more! As a bonus all formats (barring the 3LP) also boast a quartet of tracks recorded on an alternative night: "Spotlight Kid", "Man On The Silver Mountain", "Long Live Rock ‘N' Roll", and "Stargazer".
The band line-up for this incredible show featured Ritchie Blackmore (guitar); Ronnie Romero (vocals); David Keith (drums); Bob Nouveau (bass); Jens Johansson (keyboards); Candice Night (backing vocals); Lady Lynn (backing vocals).
"Memories In Rock - Live In Germany" track listing:
CD Disc 1
01. Highway Star02. Spotlight Kid 03. Mistreated 04. 16th Century Greensleeves 05. Since You Been Gone 06. Man On The Silver Mountain 07. Catch The Rainbow 08. Difficult To Cure (Beethoven's Ninth) 09. Perfect Strangers 10. Stargazer
CD Disc 2
11. Long Live Rock 'N' Roll 12. Child In Time / Woman From Tokyo 13. Black Night 14. Smoke On The Water
A performance clip of "Perfect Strangers", taken from "Memories In Rock - Live In Germany", can be seen below.
Blackmore spoke to the Dutch radio station Radio Veronica about what made him decide to play the recent RAINBOW comeback shows. He said: "Besides money, I heard the [new RAINBOW] singer, Ronnie [Romero, who is originally from Chile but now settled in Madrid, Spain], singing on YouTube. Candy [Ritchie's wife, Candice Night] had played it to me. She said, 'What to do you think of this guy?' And I don't go on the computer very much; I'm too old for that stuff. And Candy is often going on YouTube or whatever, and she said, 'He's singing some of your old songs, the RAINBOW songs.' And I heard them, and I went, 'Wow! This guy is really good. He's exciting.' And there had been some talk about reforming RAINBOW with David Coverdale and a few others — Glenn Hughes… Although they are friends of mine, I wasn't urgently involved in it. I was hesitating for probably a good part of a year before I kind of decided I wasn't gonna do it — until I heard this singer. As soon as I heard the singer, he had such a good voice, so much vitality, and that excited me. I thought, 'Wow! He's singing all the old songs, but he's doing it so well — old hard rock.' It was exciting to hear."
Asked if he enjoyed the three RAINBOW comeback shows so far, Ritchie said: "I enjoyed especially the last one in England. The first two were a little bit intense, because we hadn't played together… we hadn't done a lot of rehearsing, so the first two shows were a bit hectic and chaotic. But the last one in Birmingham was… obviously, we'd played two shows at that point, and that seemed to work, to me. And it was great to see all the old people… I mean, it was so weird how… I think it was twenty thousand people… It sold out in fifteen minutes. And I kind of wondered who they thought was playing, 'cause when I got to the auditorium, it was so vast that I thought, 'Maybe somebody else is playing this show tonight.'"
Regarding whether it was difficult for him to put together a setlist for the first three RAINBOW comeback shows, Ritchie said: "No. [It was] very easy, in a way. We had about fifteen songs that were very obvious songs to play, like 'Catch The Rainbow'. And we incorporated a few DEEP PURPLE songs — 'Black Night', 'Smoke [On The Water]', 'Highway Star' — of which some of the fans said, 'Why did you do those DEEP PURPLE songs?' And I would say, 'Why not?' And they said, 'Well, we thought it was just gonna be RAINBOW. We would prefer to hear [more] RAINBOW songs.' Which I thought was kind of ironic again. I'm thinking, 'Wow! We just threw three songs in by DEEP PURPLE when they wanted more [RAINBOW].' And I noticed when they clapped, they weren't clapping so hard for DEEP PURPLE [songs]. They said, 'We hear that every year,' 'cause [the current lineup of] PURPLE goes around [on tour]. So the next time, if we go out and we do anything, I would do probably ninety-five percent RAINBOW songs; that's what they seem to want to hear. And it didn't occur to me. I just naturally assumed they wanted to hear everything." 6

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY Guitarist DARIO LORINA To Release 'Death Grip Tribulations' Instrumental AlbumBLACK LABEL SOCIETY guitarist Dario Lorina will release his second instrumental album, "Death Grip Tribulations", on February 24, 2017 via Shrapnel Records, known for discovering and recording guitarists of extraordinary ability. Dario's new record is a powerful show of songwriting infused with shred guitar, vintage modern influence, and a richly musical band consisting of longtime musical partner Dan "D.C." Conway (drums), BLACK LABEL SOCIETY bandmates John "J.D." DeServio (bass) and Jeff Fabb (drums), along with former LIZZY BORDEN bandmate Marten Andersson (bass). It also features a song with MOTÖRHEAD guitarist Phil Campbell. Engineered and mixed by Fred Archambault, known for his work with ALICE COOPER and AVENGED SEVENFOLD, among others, this effort is a sheer embodiment of this high caliber guitarist's vast skill set.
Says Shrapnel's Mike Varney: "'Death Grip Tribulations' makes it clear that Dario Lorina has become a force to be reckoned with, as at twenty-seven years of age, he draws from experience far beyond his years, creating a collection of songs built on forceful rhythms, strong melodies and an arsenal of advanced guitar chops." Lorina began his professional career in 2006 at age 16 as the touring guitarist with the late Jani Lane (ex-WARRANT). At age 19, he joined veteran metal act LIZZY BORDEN, whom he toured with for four years.
Dario released his first instrumental record on Shrapnel in September 2013. In January 2014, he joined BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and has since been touring worldwide with Zakk Wylde, performing on both guitar and keys, most recently on Wylde's "Book Of Shadows II" tour.

STEVE VAI In Praise Of Guitarist DANIELE GOTTARDO And New Cover Of The Simpsons Theme - "He Really Is Quite Gifted" (Video)Guitar legend Steve Vai has checked in with an update for his fans:
"I’m asked quite often what young new guitar player on the scene has got my interest and I usually respond, Daniele Gottardo. He really is quite gifted and also a real good guy. He’s one of the few players I see these days that is not only technically dazzling, but his note choices and harmonic atmospheres are rich and deep. This is a fun little video he made but check out some of his other stuff if you get a chance."
Check out Gottardo's work via iTunes here or visit his official Facebook page.
Guitar legend Steve Vai is featured in an interview with The Aquarian discussing his current Passion And Warfare 25th Anniversary Tour and his latest album, Modern Primitive. An excerpt is available below:
Q: Can you describe the experience of touring with the new album, Modern Primitive, along with Passion and Warfare—mixing nostalgia with the new?
Vai: "Well, I’m having a nostalgic time (laughs). It’s really a nice project because my first solo record was Flex-Able. It was bizarre, somewhat of a quirky record where I was basically learning how to record and engineer and write music and get it out. I never really expected to release it, but when I did it I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it—having a record out. I just thought, ‘Hey, I’m just going to do this for the rest of my life!’ I started working on new music with this band I had called The Classified, and then I joined this band Alcatraz… I was offered a solo record deal with Capitol Records, and that’s kind of when I put everything else I was working on the shelf and started writing new music which became Passion and Warfare.
So, when the 25th anniversary for Passion and Warfare came around, I thought this was a good opportunity to go back and finish that music I started in between Flex-Able and Passion and Warfare and that became Modern Primitive. It’s sort of a missing link between the guy that made Flex-Able and the guy that made Passion and Warfare. It was very interesting to go back and listen to that music and complete it because whenever you create something it’s like a little snapshot of who you were at that time. It was kind of charming to peer into the psyche of a 24- or 25-year-old Steve Vai, you know?"
Q: Did you have moments of surprise when you went back to revisit the music where, for example, you didn’t even remember writing parts?
Vai: "Yeah, sure. I had that music in the back of my head all these years because there was something in it that kept beckoning me. That is a really wonderful age for finding your identity, finding your uniquely creative voice, there’s this angst in it, there’s the discovery of freedom and independence at that age. When I was writing and making that music I had no expectations for success, and that is very liberating. It just opens the possibility to just do whatever the heck you want without any fear. That’s kind of what I got when I went back to listen to it was how fearless it was, bold."

WENDY DIO: More Material From RONNIE JAMES DIO Archives To Be Released Next YearEric Blair of "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show" conducted an interview with Wendy Dio, wife and longtime manager of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio, at the second annual Bowl 4 Ronnie bowling party, benefiting the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund, which was held on November 4 at the Pinz bowling center in Studio City, California. You can now watch the chat below.
Asked if there are any "hidden gems" in the Ronnie archives, Wendy said: "Well, you know we just did 'A Decade Of Dio' [box set] that Rhino put out with the six albums that they own. I have four albums that I own after that, and we have some precious things in the archives, which we're gonna put out and add on there, and I think Rhino will put it out next year."
Pressed on whether there is any more unreleased video of Ronnie in the archives, and how old the footage is, Wendy replied: "Oh yeah. I'm talking all the way back. I've actually got stuff from RAINBOW [that] we're not allowed to put out, but we've got stuff… We videoed almost every show."
Released in July, "A Decade Of Dio: 1983-1993" brings together the DIO band's first six studio albums, each one featuring newly remastered sound. It includes: "Holy Diver" (1983), "The Last In Line" (1984), "Sacred Heart" (1985), "Dream Evil" (1987), "Lock Up The Wolves" (1990) and "Strange Highways" (1993).
Hosted by "That Metal Show" co-host Eddie Trunk and attended by 300 rockers, bowling enthusiasts and fund supporters, Bowl 4 Ronnie brought in $36,500 for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund, now in its seventh year of raising awareness and much-needed funding for cancer research.
Although Ronnie James Dio lost his battle with stomach cancer in 2010, his towering voice and legacy live on. The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund, co-founded by Wendy Dio, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable fund dedicated to supporting cancer-prevention research, raising awareness and educating the public about the vital importance of early detection and prevention when dealing with this deadly disease. 1

BLOODCLOT Featuring Current / Former Members Of CRO-MAGS, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, DANZIG Sign Worldwide Deal With Metal BladeMetal Blade Records has announced the worldwide signing of the hardcore punk unit, Bloodclot.
Bloodclot is a project featuring true hardcore pioneers: John Joseph of the Cro-Mags, plus former members of Queens of the Stone Age (Joey Castillo, drums; Nick Oliveri, bass), and Danzig (Todd Youth, guitar). While being the leader of one of the most influential hardcore bands of all time - the Cro-Mags - John Joseph is also an author, an outspoken advocate of plant-based nutrition, and a competitive Ironman tri-athlete. Todd Youth - who played in Agnostic Front at the age of 12 - has played guitar with a myriad of artists, including Danzig, Glen Campbell, Motorhead, Ace Frehley, and many more. Additionally, Nick Oliveri has played bass in Queens of the Stone Age, alongside one of the most sought-after drummers in the scene, Joey Castillo - who has also sat behind the kit for Danzig and Eagles Of Death Metal.
These four renowned musicians came together when Cro-Mags guitarist AJ Novello was unable to play a show, and John Joseph called Todd Youth to fill-in for him. The two rekindled their friendship and enjoyed playing together so much that a decision was made to re-form Bloodclot (whose origins date back to a 1981 Bad Brains tour). Todd began the songwriting process, and soon after, Joey Castillo and Nick Oliveri were recruited to join the band. With the new line-up in place, and songs to record, Metal Blade Records CEO Brian Slagel offered Bloodclot a worldwide deal.
In regards to the signing, Brian Slagel comments: "Super excited to be working with these legends! The material is fresh and what you would expect from such an amazing group! Thanks to Tal Ronnen of Crossroads Kitchen for his help on this too!"
Michael Alago - a former record label A&R executive and talent scout for over 24 years - also helped facilitate this new partnership, as Bloodclot's manager. Having earned the respect of the industry for his expertise in a wide variety of musical genres, Alago was responsible for signing Metallica, White Zombie, Alan Vega, Johnny Rotten (with his band Public Image, Ltd.), Cyndi Lauper, Nina Simone (for whom he also acted as Executive Producer on the acclaimed album, A Single Woman), among many other artists. Now, Bloodclot joins that repertoire, as his latest celebrated signing.
Bloodclot plans to release their upcoming album, Up In Arms, in spring 2017, with worldwide touring to follow. Stay tuned for more details coming soon!
Bloodclot lineup:
John Joseph (Cro-Mags) - Vocals
Todd Youth (ex-Danzig) - Guitars

“Painted Ram”:
Formed in 2007, Washington State's audio-terrorists The Drip set out to transform the legacy of Napalm Death, Terrorizer, Rotten Sound, and Brutal Truth into a modern and uncompromising grind assault of face-ripping blasts and sonic brutality.
Seizing the attention of grind-advocates Grindcore Karaoke, their self-titled debut EP and The Wasteland EP soon established their reputation as the Northwest's fastest hate-mongers. A series of high-octane live assaults only furthered their infamy among grindfreaks and led to their signing with legendary extreme metal label Relapse Records. 2014 saw the release of A Presentation of Gruesome Poetics, their debut EP for Relapse. A vicious display of skull-crushing, barbaric grind, the album was produced and engineered by Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust.
Since their signing to Relapse, The Drip has continued to tour and play with established acts like Pig Destroyer, Napalm Death, Poison Idea, Magrudergrind, Black Breath, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, and Power Trip, in addition to appearing on numerous festivals including Denver Black Sky, Crucial Fest, and Southwest Terror Fest.
2017 will mark ten years since The Drip's first collective grind and with it comes the release of their long-awaited debut LP, The Haunting Fear Of Inevitability.
The Drip lineup:
Shane Brown - drums
Brandon Caldwell - vocals
Bobby Mansfield - guitar

The group also includes Lars Lehmann, renowned as a studio bassist with British rock legend UFO and member of ex-Scorpions guitarist Uli Jon Roth’s band, as well as percussionist Momme Boe and drummer Kristof Hinz, who has just finished the drum takes for the new Eloy album.
The arrival of The Sign’s debut album has been announced for April 2017 and the first download single, “A Line To Cross”, will be out at the beginning of December. Another track is scheduled for release next February. Fans can look forward to an album featuring that timeless kind of classic rock that’s currently so successful worldwide.

BLACK STONE CHERRY Release “Shakin’ My Cage” Lyric VideoTo celebrate the kick off of their UK tour, Black Stone Cherry have released a lyric video for “Shakin' My Cage”, taken from their Top 5 album, Kentucky, which was released earlier this year via Mascot Label Group.
In the wake of this summer's headline slot at Ramblin' Man Fair, Black Stone Cherry hit the road this week for their last batch of UK dates this album cycle. Instead of playing big arenas, this time around they undertake a more extensive run of dates in the intimate setting of theatres. The tour is dubbed Experience Kentucky: An Evening With Black Stone Cherry.
The boys tell us, "We've been very fortunate to play some incredible shows in the UK the past few years. After headlining two arena tours and being a part of some amazing festivals, we wanted to bring it back to an atmosphere that we know our fans will enjoy and truly deserve. This tour is a way for us to bring the show to them and to play venues that allow us to deliver a very special night featuring two sets of music, like we've never done before. No other bands. Just the four of us and our fans! We are excited!"
The band continue, "We are truly thrilled to bring this unique BSC experience to the UK! We have never done anything like this before and we knew the UK was the only place to do it. That's all we're gonna say about it!"

OVERKILL: 'The Grinding Wheel' Album Details RevealedLegendary New Jersey thrashers OVERKILL will release their new studio album, titled "The Grinding Wheel", on February 19, 2017 via Nuclear Blast.
Comments OVERKILL frontman Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth: "Grinding on! Here we come again kids, strapped to the Grinding Wheel! Bang your head."
"The Grinding Wheel" was produced by OVERKILL and mixed by Andy Sneap (TESTAMENT, EXODUS, ACCEPT). The artwork was created again by Travis Smith (NEVERMORE, OPETH, SOILWORK, DEATH).
"The Grinding Wheel" track listing:
01. Mean Green Killing Machine02. Goddamn Trouble03. Our Finest Hour04. Shine On05. The Long Road06. Let's All Go To Hades07. Come Heavy08. Red White And Blue09. The Wheel10. The Grinding Wheel
The official lyric video for "Our Finest Hour" can now be seen below.
Ellsworth recently told Patch.com about OVERKILL's decision to title its forthcoming album "The Grinding Wheel": "When we were looking for a title, when you think in terms of the word 'grind,' you think of something that is relentless and doesn't wear down, whether it be an old stone mill or something metallic where sparks are flying through it. It's about an all-purpose tool through all time. It's a good, quality OVERKILL record."
Regarding the musical direction of the follow-up to 2014's "White Devil Armory", Ellsworth told Alternative Nation: "At the end of the day, OVERKILL is OVERKILL. Our trademark is that we are always recognizable on every release. For the three decades we have been around, we were always OVERKILL. So, sure, it is a metal record, and like always, it will have sort of a thrash vibe to it with some melody in it."
As previously reported, OVERKILL and NILE will join forces for a U.S. tour in February/March 2017. AMORPHIS will also play six shows at the end of the trek, but will not be part of the OVERKILL/NILE tour. 2

Watch EVANESCENCE Perform New Song Called 'Take Cover'Video footage of EVANESCENCE performing a new song called "Take Cover" on October 28 in Dallas, Texas can be seen below.
The band has been playing the track live as part of a short run of dates ahead of the December 9 release of vinyl box "The Ultimate Collection".
EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee told TeamRock: "We are playing a new song live right now. We got together for rehearsals and we really focused this tour on the fans and the history of the band.
"Kind of in light of this whole box set theme, we wanted to do everything that the fans want and not just what we felt like doing. It has been so fulfilling and so fun.
"When we got together the guys were really strongly supportive of it, we had a song in the bank. And we were like, 'You know what the fans would really love is a new song. That's all they ever ask for.'
"So we knocked the dust off an old song called 'Take Cover' that we had in the bank for a while and we loved it. It's one of our favorite moments every night on the tour.
"I think they like it a lot. I posted the lyrics on Facebook and now I get at least five people in the front row mouthing along, which is extra fun."
Lee added that EVANESCENCE has been inspired to work on some more new music, although it's not clear if there are firm plans for the band to record the follow-up to 2011's self-titled effort.
"We're definitely in a creative mindset," she said. "We're playing the best that this band has ever played.
"Everyone is healthy and happy and loves being here and likes working together. It sounds like maybe that shouldn't be so rare, but it really is.
"So we're looking for opportunities to work together more and we want to get creative. We're definitely in that new chapter moment where the wheels are turning."
"Take Cover" lyrics:
By the way that you talk to meI can see the liar, dream that i'll believeBy the way, don't you forgetWho you are now'Cause that's not your name
You better take coverI'm coming back to take your world downMove over, if you canYou're gonna wish that you did
Seed to your insecurityThat's what drove you down in the first place but you had enough of me?in your big web of liesGonna be the bitch you make me out to be
Oh you better take coverYou are the last to face it, my wrath?Move over if you canMake you feel my wrath
Take coverI'm gonna have to take you all downMove over if you canYou're gonna wish that you did (End of lyrics]
EVANESCENCE went on hiatus after touring for the release of its 2011 self-titled record. During that time, Lee gave birth to her son, Jack, and worked on both solo and soundtrack music.
