New IRON MAIDEN Goalie Mask For CHRIS MASONAccording to InGoal Magazine, Chris Mason, the Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who in May 2014 signed a one-year contract with the Augsburger Panther of the German ice hockey league Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), is sporting a new mask, featuring another tribute to British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN in the shape of the band's mascot Eddie.
Airbrushed by Steve Nash at EyeCandyAir in Toronto, the new mask features Eddie on the left side carrying a Canadian flag as a nod to Mason's Canadian heritage. This is actually a rendition done by famed MAIDEN artist Derek Riggs, and is the cover art for Riggs' book, "Run For Cover". On the opposite side, Eddie The Trooper carries the German flag, paying homage to the country where Mason will play this year. This depiction of Eddie first appeared on the single cover art for "The Trooper" from the "Piece Of Mind" album.
Mason's other IRON MAIDEN-inapired masks are among the most popular stories ever on InGoalMag.com.
The 38-year-old Mason played full time in the NHL for nine years for three different teams, the Predators, the Blues and the Thrashers/Jets. 2

Campaign To Get OZZY OSBOURNE Knighted Scores More Than 21,000 SignaturesAccording to The Pulse Of Radio, an online campaign to get Ozzy Osbourne knighted has already notched more than 21,000 signatures. A 65-year-old British fan named Helen Maidiotis has launched the petition, saying that the BLACK SABBATH singer deserves the honor for "his significant contribution to the music industry." She added that he deserves to be knighted "not only for all his charity work but for all his years entertaining us and helping make a difference to peoples' lives who have looked up to him for his strong will and determination to get through the many obstacles that he has come across and for that we thank you Ozzy! Helping to get him Knighted would be our gift to him."
When asked about the campaign in a recent interview, Ozzy said, "I've heard about that. Getting knighted? I can't imagine anything better… And my wife (Sharon) would become a Lady, which would be pretty cool. But I'm not gonna get upset if it doesn't happen. I never thought I'd get further than Aston (the area of Birmingham where he was born)."
Maidiotis' campaign has also gotten the endorsement of Ozzy's daughter, TV personality Kelly Osbourne.
Maidiotis originally wanted all four original members of the group to receive a knighthood, but when told that was unlikely, she settled on Ozzy.
Ozzy is one of England's most recognizable figures as well as one of the country's most popular and long-lasting rock singers. He and BLACK SABBATH arguably invented the sound of modern heavy metal and were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2006.
After years as a solo act with occasional SABBATH reunion tours, Ozzy and the band made their first studio album together in 35 years in 2013. Titled "13", it was the band's first chart-topper in the U.S. and first in the U.K. since 1971.
Ozzy will release a solo career retrospective titled "Memoirs Of A Madman" on October 7. 2

COAL CHAMBER Members MEEGS RASCON And MIKEY COX Release New WE ARE THE RIOT Video"It's Not What You Wanted", the new video from WE ARE THE RIOT, the Los Angeles, California-based hard rock band featuring COAL CHAMBER members Miguel "Meegs" Rascon (guitar) and Mikal "Mikey" Cox (drums), along with former STATIC-X bassist Andy Cole, can be seen below. The clip, produced by Brian Cox at Digital Iris, was filmed at the Salton Sea near Palm Springs, California.
"It's Not What You Wanted" is taken from WE ARE THE RIOT's "The Hollywood Sessions Demo" EP, which is currently available at iTunes and Amazon.
WE ARE THE RIOT was initially by Rascon and longtime friend Cheyne Fritts (guitar) in 2010 in an effort to re-enter the music scene with a brand of rock that encompassed the raw emotion and energy of COAL CHAMBER, but with melody that could bridge a gap and capture a wide audience. This would be the first time that Rascon and Cox had played together since COAL CHAMBER disbanded in 2003.
Rascon built the band with musicians that he thought could deliver his dream with conviction, attitude and energy. It started with Cox on drums and was soon followed by Andy "The Kid" Cole on bass, who was the late replacement for Tony Campos in STATIC-X (now WAYNE STATIC). The band launched in 2010 playing shows around the greater Los Angeles area, to initial rave reviews. The band took an indefinite hiatus in 2011 to allow for COAL CHAMBER and STATIC-X reunions/tours, and to find a permanent frontman who could capture the audience's ear and imagination.
WE ARE THE RIOT used the intermittent touring schedules as an opportunity to go back to the creative drawing board and write a record that far surpasses anything anyone has previously written, in addition to filling a perceived huge hole in the rock scene. On October 21, 2013, WE ARE THE RIOT, fronted by new singer Jimmy Trigger, re-launched itself to a packed House Of Blues Hollywood. The overwhelmingly positive response from fans, friends and family reinforced the attitude that WE ARE THE RIOT are throwing down the challenge the industry, bands, and fans to step up and get rock back to its raw and motley roots.
In April 2014, WE ARE THE RIOT released its debut EP, "The Hollywood Demo Sessions", a three-song sampler. The band celebrated the EP release by completing its first national tour as direct support for Wayne Static of STATIC-X. The trek was an enormous success, with WE ARE THE RIOT barely leaving the crowd with energy for Static's set every single night.
WE ARE THE RIOT will enter the studio in November to record a full-length album for an early 2015 release.
WE ARE THE RIOT is:
Jimmy Trigger - Vocals Meegs Rascon - Guitar Mikal Cox - Drums Andy Cole - Bass Cheyne Fritts - Guitar 1

METALLICA Wants You To Share Your Memories And Snapshots From 'Master Of Puppets' TourMETALLICA's official web site has been updated with the following message:
"Earlier this year we were contacted by author and major METALLICA fan Matt Taylor, who wrote the critically acclaimed, award-winning and much-respected account of Steven Spielberg's escapades as he was making his ground-breaking film 'Jaws' on the island of Martha's Vineyard in 1974. Matt came to us with a proposal to tell the definitive story of 'Master Of Puppets' and the subsequent tour that followed its release and when we took a spin through 'Jaws: Memories From Martha's Vineyard', we were so blown away by the presentation, thorough coverage, and attention to detail that went into it, we knew he was the man to help us celebrate the upcoming 30th anniversary of that release. As some of you keen observers may have noted, we have not been involved with most of the other books out there about METALLICA, but we just had to work with Matt, 'cause his first book is so damn cool!
"Matt has been very busy doing extensive interviews with all of us, our managers, record company staff, people we hung with then and Cliff's [Burton, late METALLICA bassist] dad Ray, who has graciously given us some of his time. However, Matt is still out there with his trusty recorder and scanner looking for more stories and photos. Just as he did with 'Jaws', Matt's plan for the 'Master Of Puppets' book is to lean heavily on amateur, fan-taken photos and stories reflecting the grassroots vibe of the time, so this is where you come in. Were you there in 1986? Snuck a camera into a show or two? Ran into us at a record store or in the bar? Have a funny story about getting to the gig or photos of you and your pals there? We want them all!! Cropped, blurred, overexposed? We'll take 'em! No photographs, anecdotes, or stories are too insignificant. We want YOU to be a part of this book!
"Please e-mail us at [email protected]
/* */
to tell us your story and receive more info about submitting photos. All submissions must be from your own personal collection... we can only use snapshots that YOU took. Remember, we want everything! No story or snapshot is too small or trivial.
"Oh, and in case you're wondering, we are planning to have it all put together and ready for your eyes in the fall of 2015. And click here to check out Matt's first book, 'Jaws: Memories From Martha's Vineyard'."
Released on February 21, 1986, "Master of Puppets" only reached No. 29 on the Billboard album chart but has sold over six million stateside copies since. It is the last record to feature bassist Cliff Burton, who was killed later that year in a tour bus crash. A loose concept album about how we are all puppets in one way or another — be it to a cult, a drug, the government, organized religion, or, in the most extreme case, the psycho ward — it still ends on a positive note, exhorting the individual to break free of the constricting mores of society in an effort to achieve true non-conformism. It featured staples of the band's live set such as "Battery", "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" and the title track. 11

Former FLYLEAF Singer LACEY STURM To Release Autobiography 'The Reason'Former FLYLEAF singer Lacey Sturm will release her memoir, "The Reason: How I Discovered a Life Worth Living", on October 7 via Baker Books.
The book description reads: "The day Lacey Sturm planned to kill herself was the day her old life ended. As an atheist who hated Christians, she thought church was a place for hypocrites, fakers, and simpletons. After a screaming match with her grandmother, she ended up in the back of a sanctuary, hating everyone in the room. But what happened in that room is The Reason she is alive today.
"With raw vulnerability, this hard rock princess tells her own story of physical abuse, drug use, suicide attempts, and more — and her ultimate salvation. She asks the hard questions so many young people are asking — Why am I here? Why am I empty? Why should I go on living? — showing readers that beyond the temporary highs and the soul-crushing lows there is a reason they exist and a purpose for their lives. She not only gives readers a peek down the rocky path that led her to become a vocalist in a popular hardcore band, but she shows them that the same God is guiding their steps today."
KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch wrote the foreword to the book. He says: "I've known Lacey for a few years now, and her story will always be one of the most jaw-dropping life transformations I've ever heard. Each time I hear her story, I can feel her hopeless pain and sorrow as she reached the point where she gave up on life after trying to satisfy herself with the world's antidotes, which only left her soul in agony.
"A book with this much substance will, without a doubt, live on to change lives for generations. I truly believe Lacey's story has fallen into your hands at the perfect time. Dive right in and find out the reason."
Lacey Sturm is a mother, wife, writer, speaker, and musician. Originally the voice behind the platinum-selling international rock band FLYLEAF, she is now a solo artist. But most of all, she is one of God's works of art, and she wants others to know and understand how special, how beautiful, how kaleidoscopically wonderful we are all made. Lacey speaks for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and its Rock The River events. She cofounded the Whosoever Movement and helped begin the RESET movement as one of their key speakers. She lives in Pennsylvania with her family.
Sturm left FLYLEAF in October 2012. She has since been replaced by Kristen May, formerly of the group VEDERA. 4

ROB ZOMBIE Crowdfunding His New MovieAccording to The Pulse Of Radio, Rob Zombie has revealed that he is launching a campaign to crowdfund his new movie, titled "31". Zombie explained why he is taking this route in a video posted at the movie's just-opened web site, RZ-31.com, as well as an interview with Rolling Stone. Zombie told the latter, "People have come up to me over the years and asked, 'How can I get these props?' 'How can I come to the set?' So I realized a crowdfunding campaign is not a guy on a street corner with a hat asking for money."
Zombie is offering a number of high-quality rewards to people who want to support the movie, including autographed posters, a winner's name in the credits, a lifetime laminate to see any Zombie show anywhere and a chance to appear as an extra in "31". Zombie is also offering selected props from his movies, including masks from "Halloween" and giant crosses from "House Of 1000 Corpses".
Zombie is already doing pre-production for the movie but won't turn his full attention to it until his current round of tour dates is finished. "I mean, I've really just been waiting for these tour dates to end," he said. "We have 20 dates left in September and after that, all touring will cease for a while while I really do the film. So that'll be the next thing."
The movie follows five people who are kidnapped in the five days leading up to Halloween and how they must fight to survive in a place called Murder World.
In order to stay alive, the hostages must play a game called "31", in which the goal is kill as many opponents as possible — people in clown masks called "The Heads" — in 12 hours.
Zombie explained where the concept came from, saying, "I was reading this statistic: Halloween is the Number One day of the year when people go missing for some reason. I thought, "What an interesting premise for a film." This is five people that go missing on each day leading up to Halloween and what happens to them on the 31st."
Zombie said he has not yet begun casting on the movie, for which he hopes to raise $2 million.
The singer and filmmaker begins his final leg of 2014 tour dates on September 8 in Portland, Oregon. 3
