LACUNA COIL

LACUNA COIL's CRISTINA SCABBIA Featured On New Version Of DANKO JONES's 'Wild Woman'

A previously unreleased version of DANKO JONES's "Wild Woman", featuring a guest appearance by LACUNA COIL's Cristina Scabbia, has been made available on Spotify. The song is taken from the "Music For Boobies" compilation, which was released earlier this year via Keep A Breast and Rude Records. Danko comments: "It is an honor to have the one and only Cristina Scabbia of LACUNA COIL grace us with her vocals on our song, 'Wild Woman'. To have this happen while helping to raise awareness of breast health education and support makes this even more sweet. Check out the track. I think it's hot rockin'!"

Some of the hottest names in the alternative scene have joined forces with Keep A Breast and Rude Records earlier last year, creating the two volumes that make up "Music For Boobies", donating a mix of new and unreleased songs: duets, previously-released tracks connected to the Keep A Breast cause, as well as new remixed versions of their songs.

The release announcement last month came together with the first two instant-grat tracks announced: a brand-new, unreleased cover of the NEW RADICALS classic "You Get What You Give" from Arizona rockers THE MAINE (featuring Brennan Smiley) and ANGELS & AIRWAVES with a remix of their "Saturday Love". The compilation — which is released on worldwide digital outlets on March 18 — is available for pre-orders, including "Wild Woman" as instant-grat track in physical and digital.

Fifty percent of all proceeds garnered through the sale of the compilation will go to support Keep A Breast's ongoing efforts. Spread the word, and help raise funds and awareness in support of Keep A Breast's mission of empowering youth around the world with breast health education and support. "Music For Boobies" Volume 1

LINKIN PARK

LINKIN PARK's MIKE SHINODA Offers Update On New Album: 'We're Really Excited About Where Things Are Going'

LINKIN PARK has returned to the studio to continue work on the follow-up to 2014's "The Hunting Party" album.

The band's Mike Shinoda offered an update on the sessions during a live chat with fans earlier today (Friday, January 15). He said: "It's going well. It's gonna be [released] later… It's probably, like, second half of this year, I think. But we've started on it. We've got some songs [in the works]. They're mostly just like words and melodies at this point. All the guys are really… I think everybody is pretty happy with where things are at. [Guitarist] Brad [Delson] and [singer] Chester [Bennington] have been coming in with me a lot and it's like… I feel like it's really a good start. We don't have any names for the songs or anything like that. But we're back at the… We did our last two records here, I think… And, yeah, it's mostly just vocals and piano and guitar — like, acoustic guitar — and some samples and stuff at this point. And even as stripped down as that is, I think we're all really happy and we're really excited about where things are going."

LINKIN PARK began work on a new album late last year, with Shinoda telling NME: "I have no idea what it'll sound like yet. It won't sound like 'The Hunting Party'. We like to surprise people."

"The Hunting Party" was released in June 2014 and produced the hit singles "Guilty All The Same" and "Until It's Gone".

The album was described as something of a throwback to the hard-hitting rap-rock sound of the first two LINKIN PARK LPs — the group's 2000 debut, "Hybrid Theory", and 2003 follow-up, "Meteora".

Bennington spent a couple of years touring as the singer of STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, although he and STP amicably split in November.

MOTÖRHEAD Limited-Edition Whiskey Sells Out

MOTÖRHEAD Limited-Edition Whiskey Sells Out

According to The Spirits Business, 288 bottles of the MOTÖRHEAD Limited Edition: Special Jack Daniel's Selected Single Barrel Whiskey — which were made available at $99 — sold out almost immediately.

U.S.-based retailer Atlantic City Bottle Company, which selected a Jack Daniel's barrel for release to "celebrate 40 years of the loudest rock band on this planet," describes the drink as “dark, oaky, but still some corn and sweetness with that signature Jack smooth charcoal smoky finish."

As previously reported, Food & Beverage Magazine officially named the industry standard call-out drink of Jack & Coke to "The Lemmy" in honor of MOTÖRHEAD legend Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister's favorite drink which he made famous on the Sunset Strip at the Rainbow Bar And Grill.

Lemmy, who celebrated his 70th birthday on Christmas Eve (December 24), learned two days later that he was afflicted with an aggressive form of cancer. He died on December 28 in Los Angeles.

MOTÖRHEAD was revered by both metal and punk fans, and Lemmy was considered an icon for his musical talent and his embodiment of the rock and roll lifestyle.

Lemmy had been dealing with serious health issues for the past two years, including getting a pacemaker in 2013 and suffering from a hematoma in 2014. But despite 40 years of hard living and drinking, he continued to tour and record at a feverish pace.

The band was forced to cancel or postpone a number of shows last year due to Lemmy's poor health, which also forced him to cut back on his drinking and give up smoking.

BABYMETAL To Release

BABYMETAL To Release 'Metal Resistance' Album In April

Japanese teenage girl pop metal band BABYMETAL will release its second album, "Metal Resistance", on April 1, 2016 via earMUSIC. A world tour in support of the record will follow the CD's arrival.

BABYMETAL's 2016 world tour will include an appearance at London, England's SEE Wembley Arena on April 2. The trek will conclude at the 55,000-capacity Tokyo Dome on a yet-to-be-announced date BABYMETAL has branded "Doomsday."

BABYMETAL played a show on December 12, 2015 at the Yokohama Arena, where they performed two new tracks.

BABYMETAL's Su-Metal says: "I will be putting my everything into the production of our upcoming album because I believe that many of you are waiting for it. We are looking forward to meeting our fans abroad again at Wembley Arena right after the release of our second album, so you can expect to hear our new songs for the very first time live there.

"Performing at Tokyo Dome [this] year still feels like a dream, but I am going to work towards building up my confidence to stand on that stage and I hope to continue growing through our upcoming world tour."

BABYMETAL's Moametal adds: "I still can't imagine that that day would come, when we would perform at Tokyo Dome. On top on that, our new album will be released on Fox Day, so I promise you that we will come up with an album that will betray your expectations — in a good way, of course."

BABYMETAL mastermind Kobametal says: "I continue to believe that the songs of BABYMETAL continue to push them forward to discover new possibilities.

"Since the release of BABYMETAL's debut album in 2014, we have been racing across the globe non-stop on our world tour. Through the last tour I have come across people from all over the world and have had the chance to feel that miraculous moment when everyone came together via BABYMETAL."

BABYMETAL signed with RAL/Sony Music Entertainment for the U.S. release of the band's 2014 critically acclaimed self-titled debut album. The CD features two bonus tracks and was made available digitally on May 12, 2015 and physically on June 16, 2015.

Established in 2010, BABYMETAL is the offshoot of the Japanese pop idol group SAKURA GAKUIN that performs a distinctly Japanese mix of schoolgirl J-pop and heavy metal.

BABYMETAL's members — Suzuka Nakamoto (a.k.a. Su-Metal, who handles vocals and dancing), Yui Mizuno (a.k.a. Yuimetal) and Moa Kikuchi (a.k.a. Moametal), the latter of whom both scream and dance — admit that they had never listened to metal before joining the group. The girls wear gothy schoolgirl costumes, do choreographed dance routines and bang their heads violently.

Many heavy metal fans have been reluctant to embrace BABYMETAL — which also includes producer Kobametal and a backing band of corpse-painted virtuosos — with some Internet forums calling them "the definition of a gimmick", "awful" and "metal for hipsters."

THE GHOST INSIDE Drummer Confirms Rumours Of Losing Leg In November 2015 Tour Bus Accident - "I Don't Care What Anyone Says, I Will Play Drums Again"

THE GHOST INSIDE Drummer Confirms Rumours Of Losing Leg In November 2015 Tour Bus Accident - "I Don't Care What Anyone Says, I Will Play Drums Again"

Back on November 19th, 2015 metal band The Ghost Inside's tour bus was involved in a head-on collision with an 18-wheeler in El Paso, TX. The accident left two people dead and 10 people injured. At the time of the accident the band issued the following statement:

“Thanks to everyone who reached out with concern today. The Ghost Inside was involved in a serious bus accident outside El Paso, TX this morning. All five band members + all members of the crew are alive and currently being treated for their injuries. Please keep them in your thoughts as well as their bus driver and those in the other vehicle who did not make it."

The Ghost Inside drummer Andrew Tkaczyk recently posted an update on Instagram, revealing some shocking news;

"So, the rumors are true everyone. Unfortunately, I did lose my leg in this accident. This is one injury among many others such as fractures in my ribs, spine, and hip along with some ligament tears in my rotator cuff and labrum. I have remained in positive and good spirits since I woke up from a 10 day coma in November to the sight of my missing leg. Not going to let it stop me. I don't care what anyone says. It's a long road ahead, but I WILL play drums again. Can't wait to get back on the kit. Couldn't have dealt with this without the love and support from my brothers in TGI & crew, friends, fans and family. Thank you all."

The crash happened around 9:16 AM (Thursday, November 19th, 2015) on mile marker 63 along U.S. 62/180 near the Border Patrol checkpoint.

“We have accounted for 12 people. Two have been confirmed deceased and 10 are injured,” said State Trooper Moises Vasquez. “Some were transported to local area hospitals in Hudspeth, and others were transported to El Paso. “

The driver of the tour bus, Gregory Hoke, 31, of Round Rock, Texas and the driver of the semi, Steven Cunningham, 64, of Las Cruces, were killed, officials said.

CHTHONIC Singer FREDDY LIM Elected Legislator In Taiwan

CHTHONIC Singer FREDDY LIM Elected Legislator In Taiwan

According to Focus Taiwan, Freddy Lim, frontman of the Taiwanese metal band CHTHONIC, was elected Saturday (January 16) as a legislator in Taipei's 5th District. The singer defeated veteran legislator Lin Yu-fang of the Kuomintang by more than 6,000 votes.

Famous for his long hair and tattoos, Lim was the first rock star in Eastern Asia to run for office and is standing for a brand new political party — the New Power Party (NPP) — which is leading the pro-democracy Youth movement in Taiwan.

A longtime political activist, frontman Freddy Lim recently lent his public profile to several social movements.

The NPP was founded in January 2015 as a brand new political party and emerged from the Sunflower student movement of the previous year, which Lim was at the forefront of. They are advocates for universal human rights, civil and political liberties and protecting Taiwan's independence as a sovereign state. The party's main policy is "Transitional Justice," which, lyrically, has been covered in all of CHTHONIC's studio albums.

Many of the polls show that the NPP has risen up to the third biggest party in Taiwan as young people reject the ruling KMT party which lists reunification with mainland China among its core policies.

"From my point of view, Taiwan should become a 'normal country' step by step," Lim told reporters after a campaign rally on Thursday.

"Taiwan will only be able to safeguard its freedom and democracy after becoming a normal country."

Video: LAMB OF GOD Performs

Video: LAMB OF GOD Performs 'Overlord' Song Live For First Time

Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD performed their song "Overlord" live for the first time last night (Friday, January 15) at Stage AE in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania during the kick-off show of their U.S. headlining tour with ANTHRAX. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below.

"Overlord" is taken from LAMB OF GOD's latest album, "VII: Sturm Und Drang", which was released in July 2015 via Epic in the U.S. and Nuclear Blast Entertainment in all territories outside of North America. The CD was once again produced and mixed by Josh Wilbur with engineering by Wilbur, Nick Rowe and Kyle McAulay, and was recorded at NRG Recording Studios in North Hollywood, California and Suburban Soul Studios in Torrance, California.

"Overlord" is what some may consider the most unique and versatile track on the record — a new play on the revered LAMB OF GOD sound. The song uniquely features clean vocals and lyrics penned by vocalist Randy Blythe, and the official video for the song — which was directed by Jorge Torres-Torres — features the singer's own personal concept and treatment. "For years I've wished that I could have a movie camera directly linked to my brain so that some of the ideas I see in my mind's eye could be translated into film for others to watch," Blythe explained. "Although that is obviously an impossibility (and probably a good thing — I find many things amusing that might not be so funny to everyone else), the video for 'Overlord' is the next best thing for me.

"I came up with the idea and wrote the treatment for this video myself. To see Jorge take my concept, add his own touches, and use his technical know-how to translate my 'mental script' into a suitably dark visual narrative is just an awesome, awesome experience for me. "I wrote the song about the dangers of self-obsession in our distressingly myopic and increasingly entitled 'me-now/now-me' culture. Just like the couple in the video, many people can't seem to look past their own relatively small problems to see the bigger picture: the world is in serious trouble. Having a bad day at work, or a fight with your significant other, or getting a crappy haircut or table service does not in any way shape or form constitute an emergency. Sometimes things just don't work out the way we want them to, [so] deal with it. People who only see their own problems eventually wind up alone because no one wants to hear their crap anymore. We all know someone like that, always whining and complaining about some inconsequential setback as if it were the apocalypse. This song is for those people." Regarding the "VII: Sturm Und Drang" album title, LAMB OF GOD guitarist Mark Morton told the Swiss TV show "Living Room": "When Randy and I were putting the lyrics together for this album, we were discussing what the themes were. And we were trying to find a phrase that best encompassed the common threads that ran through the lyrics of all the songs. And it just happened to be that 'Sturm Und Drang' represented that inner conflict and the pressure and the turmoil and the chaos and how one responds to those things. If it had been a French phrase, we would have probably named it that. But it just happened to be German."

LAMB OF GOD's U.S. tour with ANTHRAX will come to a close in Los Angeles, California on February 12.

Nashville hard rock band THE EAST SIDE GAMBLERS held a benefit concert on January 8 at the Mercy Lounge in Nashville, Nashville to help a friend pay for chemotherapy bills. Joining them throughout the evening were Tom Keifer (CINDERELLA), Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger from HALESTORM, Damon Johnson (BROTHER CANE, ALICE COOPER, BLACK STAR RIDERS), and Rachel Bolan and Dave "Snake" Sabo from SKID ROW. Tom Keifer of CINDERELLA:

* Brown Sugar * Nobody's Fool (with Lzzy Hale)* Shelter Me (with Joe Hottinger)* It's Only Rock 'N' Roll (with Joe Hottinger)

Asked in a recent interview whether there are any plans for HALESTORM to release a third covers EP to follow 2011's "ReAniMate" and 2013's "ReAniMate 2.0", Lzzy told Shaw TV: "There's always plans for those things. We've been using them, actually, to experiment with where we're gonna go next on records. It didn't start out that way, but the first one that we did, we experimented with a few different tempos of songs. Like, for instance, there's 'Slave To The Grind' [SKID ROW] and 'Out Ta Get Me' [GUNS N' ROSES], and we had never really experimented with that type of rockiness before. And we all turned to each other, like, 'We need something that sounds like that.' Out of that came 'Love Bites'. And then we did ['Gold Dust Woman' from] FLEETWOOD MAC on this last one, and out of that came 'New Modern Love' for this record. So it's kind of a safe way to be, like, 'Okay, let's cover a song that's already proven, but really try to discover something new about ourselves and what we enjoy.' Experiment with different genres — just to throw something weird into the mix and challenge ourselves."

Regarding the recording process for HALESTORM's third album, "Into The Wild Life", in Nashville, Lzzy said: "What we love about that town is that it really has become so much more diverse than just the country [scene]. Yes, there's a huge country [scene] — that's their m.o. — but just the vibe in general is that, really no matter what genre it is, can you kill it in a bar at 4 a.m.? Can you sing some Janis Joplin and bring the house down? That's what they judge you on. It's not necessarily, what magazine cover have you been on lately? So just the whole live feel and the fact that there's so many great musicians, it really kind of made us step up our game. Because we were going out and seeing live music every single night of the week, and then we'd go in in the morning and play music. And it's, like, you just look at this guy that's, like, just some dude that probably works at Home Depot, and he can shred on guitar. And we're, like, 'We need to practice.' So in that aspect, the musicianship definitely influenced us."

Ex-W.A.S.P. Guitarist CHRIS HOLMES Clarifies His LEMMY Comments

Ex-W.A.S.P. Guitarist CHRIS HOLMES Clarifies His LEMMY Comments

Former W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes has clarified his recent comments about MOTÖRHEAD's Lemmy wanting to die on stage like late PANTERA guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott.

Dimebag was shot to death along with three others during a DAMAGEPLAN performance at the Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, Ohio in December 2004.

Speaking to the Swedish newspaper Upsala Nya Tidning earlier this month, Holmes stated about Lemmy's final days: "They said he didn't know he had cancer. C'mon! How do you get that sick and not know? I don't know."

He added: "Too bad [Lemmy] didn't die on stage. [Laughs]… That's where he probably wanted to die the best, you know. Like Dimebag."

In a brand new interview with Über Rock, Holmes clarified the comments he made to Upsala Nya Tidning, explaining: "Well, I didn't mean get shot! What happened to Dimebag was horrible. All I meant was it was a drag Lemmy passed away in his apartment and not on stage because he played live right up until the end. It wasn't like David Bowie who just passed away; he didn't play since 2006 or something. Lemmy kept playing until the end. That's what I meant. Going out on stage, having a heart attack or whatever. Just keeling over doing what he loved. I think that's what Lemmy always wanted. Nothing about getting shot. But now everybody thinks I said something about a shooting, like him getting shot in the head which is a bunch of shit. For anyone to even think that's what I meant is just... Why would somebody dream that up? It's bullshit."

Asked when he first met Lemmy, Holmes responded: "I think it was probably about '84 in London. It was around the time of the first W.A.S.P. album. He came along to one of the parties after a show. I think it was at a place called the Brewery. We used to hang around a lot in '89 / '90. It was a long time ago... I helped him go shopping for furniture for his apartment and stuff when he first moved over to L.A. Took him to a few places so he could get himself sorted. But we mostly just drank, got messed up and cracked jokes at each other. Then W.A.S.P. toured with MOTÖRHEAD in '97 for a while. There was a fight on the road at that time, but that was between Blackie [Lawless, W.A.S.P. mainman] and him. I never had no qualms with Lemmy. We only had one dressing room for both bands. I didn't care if they used the same dressing room as us, but Blackie wasn't happy, that's what it was over. I told him I didn't mind sharing anything with MOTÖRHEAD and he got all mad at me for that but, hey, I don't care."

Holmes in 2013 released a solo album called "Nothing To Lose". Chris composed, performed, and produced the music and vocals, and teamed up with Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor to perform on and engineer the effort.

Holmes's latest effort, "Shitting Bricks", was released last year via M & O Music.

Holmes joined W.A.S.P. in 1982 and remained with the group until 1990. In 1996, Holmes rejoined W.A.S.P. and stayed with the band until 2001. Holmes has not played with W.A.S.P. since.

DEVILDRIVER: Audio Snippet Of Brand New Song From

DEVILDRIVER: Audio Snippet Of Brand New Song From 'Trust No One' Album

California metallers DEVILDRIVER will release their seventh studio album, "Trust No One", on May 13 via Napalm Records. The follow-up to 2013's "Winter Kills" was once again produced by Mark Lewis (ARSIS, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER, DEICIDE, SIX FEET UNDER) with assistance from Jason Suecof (AUGUST BURNS RED, DEICIDE, DEATH ANGEL). The new CD mark the group's first release since the departures of guitarist Jeff Kendrick and drummer John Boecklin and addition of axeman Neal Tiemann and former CHIMAIRA sticksman Austin D'Amond.

A short audio sampe of a song from "Trust No One" is available in the Instagram post below from DEVILDRIVER fontman Dez Fafara.

Fafara previously stated about the new DEVILDRIVER CD: "Almost three years in the making, get ready for a new DEVILDRIVER record!

"'Trust No One' is filled with killer riffs, groove after groove and massive hooks!

"Regarding the title 'Trust No One', it's rightly named and done so. There will be no explanation needed regarding what the title means. The lyrics are volatile and straight to the point!"

Asked what makes Austin the right drummer for DEVILDRIVER, Dez told Full Metal Jackie: "What made him the right guy is he's more than capable.

"You can understand when members leave a band, and Jeff, the guitar player, left 'cause he just didn't wanna tour anymore, and I totally understood that after the schedule we kept for almost 13 years. And John wanted to try and do some stuff on his own, and it was more than okay with me after that length of time. So, when you do replace members, what you wanna do is you wanna get people who are more than capable — or more capable than even who you had [before]."

He continued: "I definitely am looking forward to playing with Austin. He's a great guy, he's a great drummer, [and] he's got an incredible stage presence. And when he came in for the audition, he absolutely just smoked it. He's just an incredible guy. And you get a real good vibe from him, which is another thing. We're gonna tour a lot, so you're gonna have to have that."

Boecklin and Kendrick played their last show with DEVILDRIVER as part of the 2014 Knotfest in Devore, California.

"Winter Kills" sold around 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 32 on The Billboard 200 chart.

MICHAEL ANTHONY Shoots Down VAN HALEN Reunion Rumors

MICHAEL ANTHONY Shoots Down VAN HALEN Reunion Rumors

Former VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony has shot down rumors that he is rejoining the band.

Anthony, singer Sammy Hagar, Eddie and Alex Van Halen last teamed up in 2004 for a U.S. summer tour. In exchange for taking part in the tour, Anthony reportedly had to agree to take a pay cut and sign away his rights to the band name and logo.

In 2007, the Van Halen brothers, Wolfgang Van Halen and singer David Lee Roth announced they would be hitting the road for a reunion tour. Anthony later told Music Radar that he "found out about that tour like everybody else did — in the press."

In a new post on his Facebook page, Anthony wrote: "I want to clarify some confusion surrounding a recent picture from a video shoot for my new Schecter signature bass that will be debuting at NAMM next week. Apparently, because a road case with the name 'Van Halen' on it is in the photo (which was taken by someone off to the side of the shoot), there is speculation of me having involvement with the band. This is not true. The shoot took place in my warehouse and this is just one of the many road cases I still own from the VH days that happened to be there. As a matter of fact, THE CIRCLE will be performing at the Route 66 Casino in Albuquerque, NM next week. I hope to see you all out there!"

Anthony's new band THE CIRCLE, which also features Hagar, Jason Bonham and Vic Johnson, plays hits from Sammy's four decades of rock (MONTROSE, solo, VAN HALEN, THE WABORITAS, CHICKENFOOT) as well as classic tracks from the LED ZEPPELIN catalog.

Eddie Van Halen last year defended his decision to enlist his son Wolfgang to play bass for VAN HALEN following the dismissal of Michael Anthony.

"Every note Mike ever played, I had to show him how to play," Eddie claimed. "Before we'd go on tour, he'd come over with a video camera and I'd have to show him how to play all the parts." Van Halen also downplayed the role Anthony's harmonic backing vocals play in creating the group's signature sound. "Mike's voice is like a piccolo trumpet. But he's not a singer. He just has a range from hell," Eddie said. "Mike was just born with a very high voice. I have more soul as a singer than he does. And you know, people always talk about Mike's voice on VAN HALEN songs, but that's a blend of Mike's voice and my voice. It's not just him."

In a February 2013 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Roth spoke about the touchy subject of Anthony potentially replacing Wolfgang Van Halen in VAN HALEN. He said: "Ed has his own vision, I'm assuming. We haven't really been able to speak about it and it's a disappointment, just as not having a chance for a reunion of the original band. Clearly, vocals are every bit as much a component of success as a rhythm section or a guitar solo… What we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever — that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in EARTH, WIND & FIRE, as identifiable as the high voice in the BEACH BOYS. VAN HALEN is an indelicate house blend of both — that's intentionally."

Video: BUTCHER BABIES

Video: BUTCHER BABIES' HEIDI, CARLA Perform PANTERA, DROWNING POOL Covers At 'Ultimate Jam Night'

BUTCHER BABIES frontwomen Heidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey performed a cover version of PANTERA's "Fucking Hostile" during this past Wednesday night's (January 13) "Ultimate Jam Night" at Lucky Strike Live in Hollywood, California. Joining them on stage were Ira Black (LIZZY BORDEN, DEATH DIVISION), Jason Christopher (PRONG, COREY TAYLOR) and Henry Flury (BUTCHER BABIES), among others. Also available is footage of Shepherd singing DROWNING POOL's "Bodies" at the same event.

BUTCHER BABIES' second album, "Take It Like A Man", was produced by Logan Mader, who has previously worked with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, DEVILDRIVER, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY and GOJIRA. Carla stated about the CD's musical direction: "The majority of the album is very aggressive thrash metal. On this album, we wanted to go back to our roots, which were aggressive thrash, and ninety percent of the album is that."

Harvey told the the Fairfield City Champion that the mixture of the BUTCHER BABIES bandmembers' influences has helped them create a sound that stands out from the rest of the pack.

"We all have different influences, but collectively we could all agree that SLIPKNOT and PANTERA are our biggest influences as a band," said Carla. "I grew up listening to old-school thrash metal and classic metal and, of course, PANTERA; Heidi grew up listening to more nu-metal and stuff; our drummer also nu-metal. Henry listens to MESHUGGAH and heavier stuff and our bass player loves death metal. We put it all together and we make it something that is distinctly BUTCHER BABIES, I think."

TERA WRAY STATIC

TERA WRAY STATIC's Friends And Family Release Statement Regarding Her Death

Jay'e Jones, the Joshua Tree, California-based tattoo artist who was roommates with Tera Wray Static, the widow of STATIC-X frontman and founder Wayne Static, at the time of Tera's death, has released a statement regarding her friend's passing.

Jones said: "I came home [Wednesday, January 13] night after work, and found one of my dearest friends had ended her life in my guestroom where she was staying… I am working closely with her family and friends to honor her memory, in the best way possible."

The official statement, which was apparently approved by Tera's mother, reads as follows:

"Love conquered all on the evening of Wednesday, January 13, 2016. After 14 months of separation by death, Tera Wray Static took fate into her own hands, and ended her life to be with the man she loved.

"So it is with heavy hearts we confirm her suicide. Her body was discovered by a friend whom she had been living with temporarily. The exact cause of death has yet to be released by the coroner's office, but a drug overdose has been ruled out.

"Tera suffered from depression since the death of her husband, Wayne Static of STATIC-X, who passed on November 1, 2014. Close friends of the couple had this to say:

"'We are deeply saddened over the news, but feel a peace that she is together with her husband. The undeniable bond they had from the moment they met throughout their remaining years was an intense, true love that only few experience.

"Tera was deeply loved by her friends and family, and we politely ask that their privacy is respected during this difficult time.'"

According to AVN, Wray, who was born Tera Lents, met Wayne during the Ozzfest tour in 2007 when she was modeling for Hustler lingerie. They were married in January 2008 and she retired from porn in August of that year.

Adult entertainment attorney Michael Fattorosi, who last spoke to Tera one day before her death, told New York Post's Page Six that Wray left behind a note instructing her roommate to call him and Tera's mother.

"She was one of the sweetest, most gentle women I have worked with in [the adult film industry]," Fattorosi told Page Six. "She had a light to her that was evident when she walked into room. She was always smiling and happy. I know she loved Wayne dearly. When they met and got married, she left the [adult film] industry to go on tour with him and the band. From what I understand, she was constantly by his side. His death must have weighed on her tremendously."

Last July, Tera paid tribute to her late husband with a sleeve tattoo that she showed off on Facebook.

Wayne Static died after mixing Xanax and other powerful prescription drugs with alcohol, according to the coroner's report. The 48-year-old Static, whose real name was Wayne Richard Wells, was found dead in his Landers, California home on November 1, 2014.

Original JUDAS PRIEST Singer AL ATKINS

Original JUDAS PRIEST Singer AL ATKINS's New Album To Include Guest Appearances By IAN HILL, RALF SCHEEPERS

According to PowerOfMetal.dk, original JUDAS PRIEST vocalist Al Atkins is working on a new album of reworked versions of songs covering the four decades of his singing career. Guest musicians set to appear on the as-yet-untitled effort include JUDAS PRIEST bassist Ian Hill (on two tracks), former GILLAN bassist John McCoy, PRIMAL FEAR singer Ralf Scheepers, Christian guitarist Paul May, DEATH DEALER axeman Stu Marshall (guitar) and Japanese guitarist Tsuyoshi Ikedo from the band UNVEIL RAZE.

Regarding how the idea for the album came about, Atkins told the site: "After Paul May and myself [were] asked to record a 'best-of' album by our record company, we recorded the ATKINS MAY PROJECT 'Anthology'. It then got me thinking about recording my own solo 'best-of] album, but set about re-recording all of my fave songs from the last four decades and using guest players. We still have three tracks still to record before it is all finished, but it is sounding absolutely killer."

He added: "[I am] really looking forward to this album and I hope everyone else who buys it will enjoy it too."

Atkins is the co-writer of several PRIEST songs which are included on the band's first two albums, "Rocka Rolla" and "Sad Wings of Destiny", both of which eventually went gold. Atkins co-penned the heavy metal classic "Victim of Changes", which was a combination of Rob Halford's song "Red Light Lady" and Atkins' own "Whiskey Woman". He also co-wrote "Winter", "Never Satisfied", "Dreamer Deceiver" and "Caviar and Meths".

In 1989 Atkins released his debut solo album, "Judgement Day", to great acclaim. But it was "Heavy Thoughts" and "Victim of Changes" (the latter being his collaborative album with ex-JUDAS PRIEST drummer Dave Holland) that brought him strong sales and critical acclaim around the world.

JUDAS PRIEST bassist Ian Hill penned the foreword to Al Atkins's autobiography, titled "Dawn of the Metal Gods: My Life in Judas Priest and Heavy Metal". The book, which was written with Neil Daniels — a freelance rock writer and heavy metal fan who befriended Atkins during the writing of Neil's book "The Story Of Judas Priest: Defenders Of The Faith" (Omnibus Press) — was released in 2009 via Iron Pages.

MOTÖRHEAD: Pro-Shot Footage Of Last-Ever Show In Spain

MOTÖRHEAD: Pro-Shot Footage Of Last-Ever Show In Spain

Professionally filmed video footage of MOTÖRHEAD's last-ever show in Spain, which took place on July 17, 2015 at the Resurrection Fest in Viveiro, Lugo, Spain, can be seen below.

MOTÖRHEAD frontman Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister, who celebrated his 70th birthday on Christmas Eve (December 24), learned two days later that he was afflicted with an aggressive form of cancer. He died two days later, on December 28, at his home in Los Angeles.

To the surprise of no one, MOTÖRHEAD will not continue without Lemmy. Dee confirmed the decision in a late December interview with the Swedish paper Expressen, saying, "MOTÖRHEAD is over, of course. Lemmy was MOTÖRHEAD. But the band will live on in the memories of many."

Dee, who'd been in the band since 1992, said that the band's last tour was very difficult for Lemmy. Dee said, "He was terribly gaunt. He spent all his energy on stage and afterwards he was very, very tired. It's incredible that he could even play, that he could finish the Europe tour. It was only 20 days ago. Unbelievable."

With their raw, uncompromising sound, MOTÖRHEAD never became a major commercial success, but Lemmy and his cohorts remained a popular live attraction for the next several decades while winning a Grammy in 2005 and recording a total of 22 studio albums. The most edition of the band, featuring guitarist Phil Campbell and Dee, spent 22 years together, releasing its now-final album, "Bad Magic", last year.

JUDAS PRIEST: Multi-Camera Video Footage Of

JUDAS PRIEST: Multi-Camera Video Footage Of 'Desert Plains' Performance From Stockholm

Multi-camera video footage of JUDAS PRIEST performing the song "Desert Plains" on December 5, 2015 at Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden can be seen below (edited by metalist908). Also available is the previously released "Metal Gods" clip.

JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford told the Q104 radio station in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada about the band's plans to record the follow-up album to 2014's "Redeemer Of Souls": "Well, you know, in rock and roll, you've gotta kind of strike while the iron is hot, and that iron has been burning hot for decades for PRIEST now. It doesn't show any sign of cooling off, I can tell you that. The cool thing about where we're at right now is, of course, having Richie [Faulkner, new PRIEST guitarist] with us and having gone through that first writing experience together [on 'Redeemer Of Souls']. We were so motivated to keep writing as we were going along, but our label had a time schedule for us to keep, so we had to put the brakes on and start recording the songs that we'd written. And with that in mind, we're raring to go again, and I'm sure there'll be another PRIEST record in the not-too-distant metal future."

Asked whether he feels that "the clock is ticking" on JUDAS PRIEST's recording and touring career, Rob said: "Yeah, the clock is ticking, [but] we’re trying to hold it back. [Laughs] But it's great, man. I've gotta tell you, this band is having the time of its life, and we're very excited to be back out on the road after a short break from our last show, in Wacken in Germany at the big heavy metal festival there in front of eighty thousand heavy metal maniacs. So we're still bringing the fire and the metal with us wherever we go."

"Redeemer Of Souls" was released in July 2014. The follow-up to 2008's double-disc concept album "Nostradamus" was billed as a return to JUDAS PRIEST's heavy-metal roots.

"Redeemer Of Souls" sold around 32,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 6 on The Billboard 200 chart.

THE RESISTANCE Feat. THE HAUNTED, Ex-IN FLAMES Members:

THE RESISTANCE Feat. THE HAUNTED, Ex-IN FLAMES Members: 'Death Blow' Lyric Video

THE RESISTANCE, the Swedish extreme metal band featuring former and current members of IN FLAMES and THE HAUNTED, will release its sophomore full-length album, "Coup De Grâce", on January 22 via earMUSIC. According to a press release, "Coup De Grâce" "reconnects with the one and only, original extreme hardcore and slams it straight down your throat and into the present age. The ferocious and relentless pureness makes it a masterpiece, as the overwhelming aggression encloses and doesn't let you go."

Joining singer Marco Aro (also in THE HAUNTED) in THE RESISTANCE's current lineup are IN FLAMES founding member Jesper Strömblad on guitar, Glenn Ljungström (ex-IN FLAMES) on guitar, Chris Barkensjö (ex-KAAMOS, GRAVE) on drums, and the band's latest addition, Rob Hakemo (ex-M.A.N.) on bass.

"Coup De Grâce" track listing:

01. Death March 02. I Welcome Death 03. Smallest Creep 04. Violator 05. Felony 06. Death Blow 07. Resolution 08. World Order 09. Enslavement 10. Art Of Murder11. For The Venom 12. The Drowning 13. As It All Came Down

The official lyric video for the song "Death Blow" can be seen below.

Asked how THE RESISTANCE compares to IN FLAMES, Jesper told Highware Daze: "Well, I would have to say, if I have to compare, THE RESISTANCE is a totally different band. The only common thing is that me and Glenn used to play in IN FLAMES. So, I guess, musically, it's much more simple. It's heavy and aggressive and it comes from another school, I would say. I wanted to do something that all of us wanted to do, like keep it simple [and have a] little bit more of death metal style. Also, we have some melodies, but they are very, very restricted, so to speak. So I would say for fans of IN FLAMES, do not expect to hear what they think they would. If you would call IN FLAMES the Ambassadors of Gothenburg sound, I would say that THE RESISTANCE — we're talking to a step back and have done something of a marriage between the Stockholm and Gothenburg sound."

Regarding how Ljungström became involved with THE RESISTANCE, Jesper said: "It started with me and Marco talking about starting something up again. We didn't want to do the dog years again; we just wanted to do the good stuff and have fun again. And we were talking about who should be the second guitar player, and I was, like, 'Well, I should call Glenn,' because I hadn't talked to him in ten years. We kind of drifted apart because of various reasons. He moved out of town. He got a family and has a quite demanding job. So I just called him up and asked, 'Do you want to dust off your old guitar and decide to jam with me again? And we'll see what comes up.' And he was, like, 'Hell yeah! I've been waiting for this call for years!' He was all excited. So we met up, we had a great time; it was like two weeks had gone by. He's the same jerk that he's always been and I love him to death. He just picked up the guitar and said, 'Well, I've had some ideas through the years.' 'Okay let's hear them.' And he started playing and my jaw was dropped! He hadn't touched the guitar for in ten years, and he's still one of the most amazing rhythm players there is. It's quite cool to have him back. For that reason, if you connect, you would see that actually the founders of IN FLAMES is now in this band together — in a whole different style."

THE RESISTANCE released its debut EP, "Rise From Treason", in North America on January 29, 2013 via earMUSIC. Another EP, "Torture Tactics", followed in February 2015.

THE RESISTANCE made its live debut on October 8, 2011 at Club Distortion in Stockholm, Sweden.

Strömblad quit IN FLAMES in February 2010 in order to continue receiving treatment for his alcohol addiction.

MOTÖRHEAD Frontman LEMMY - “Anybody Who Says ‘I Don’t Want Fame And Fortune’ Is Full Of Shit”; 12-Minute Headbanger's Journey Raw & Uncut Video Streaming

Samm Dunn and BangerTV remember Motörhead's Lemmy, who passed away on December 28th following a short battle with cancer, with this raw and uncut 2005 interview from Metal: A Headbanger's Journey.

Speaking about his opinion on accusations of selling out and going commercial, Lemmy said: “Commercial is a funny word to use as an insult because being commercial just means more people bought your music, which is what you’re trying to do when you set out, to make the most people as possible hear your music, that’s why you do it, you know. And anybody who says, ‘I don’t want fame and fortune’, is full of shit. I don’t give a fuck who they are, you know, that’s rubbish.”

On Saturday, January 9th, the world will come together and celebrate the life Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister.

Family and close friends will observe a service at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Hollywood, commencing at 3 PM, PST and ending at 4:30 PM. With such limited space available on-site, Motörhead respectfully ask that you don’t attend the cemetery… but they want you all to be a part of this, so they are setting up a live feed of the service via the internet on Motörhead’s official YouTube channel.

Says Motörhead: “So wherever you are, PLEASE get together and watch the service with fellow Motörheadbangers and friends. Go to your favourite bar, or your favourite club, make sure they have access to an internet connection and toast along with us. Or simply invite your pals around and celebrate Lemm’s life at home. Whatever your venue, and however you can, let’s be sure to gather globally on Saturday 9th and celebrate the life of our dear friend and irreplaceable icon.”

For anyone wishing to send flowers, please contact Karen Brando at Flowers By Michael - (310) 276-1003, kbrando@flowersbymichael.com.

If you’d like to make a charitable donation under Lemmy’s name, please go to: Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund.

The Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood, which was late Motörhead frontman Lemmy's favourite bar, has expanded it’s upcoming tribute event. An update follows:

“Join us Saturday, January 9th as we say goodbye to a dear friend and loved one. We will open our doors at 2 PM. The memorial will be 21 and over only.

“ATTN!!! Due to the overwhelming and supportive response to Lemmy's memorial we are now using the entire Strip to compensate for overflow. The Rainbow will close from 5 until 9 PM for a private service, however the Roxy and Whisky will remain open to accommodate those looking to show their respects during this time.”

Lemmy Kilmister died on December 28th at the age of 70 following a brief battle with an aggressive cancer. Motörhead manager Todd Singerman revealed to Sky News that Lemmy went to the hospital two days after his birthday bash at LA’s Whisky A Go Go on December 13th because he wasn’t feeling well. Tests were done, and doctors discovered he had terminal cancer which had spread to his brain.

Singerman told Sky News, "Nobody had any idea, we just learned Saturday, two days ago, that he even had cancer and the doctor told him he had between two to six months to live. He goes today as I was making calls to Phil and Mikkey telling them to come on out so they could have a last goodbye while he was still upbeat and everything. He was feeling mighty low... He wasn't expected to die like that.

"He gets home (from tour), we have a big birthday party for him at the Whisky A Go Go. His friends came down and played. Two days later I could tell he wasn't feeling good so we took him to the hospital, they release him, then after the brain scan they found the cancer in his brain and his neck... The doctor comes with the result a couple of days later and says... it's terminal."

Motörhead drummer Mikkey Dee told Sweden’s Expressen: ”Motörhead is over, of course. Lemmy was Motörhead. But the band will live on in the memories of many. We won’t be doing any more tours or anything. And there won’t be any more records. But the brand survives, and Lemmy lives on in the hearts of everyone.”

DESTRUCTION To Release

DESTRUCTION To Release 'Under Attack' Album In May

German thrash metal veterans DESTRUCTION will release their new album, "Under Attack", on May 13 via Nuclear Blast. The band started the recording sessions after the summer festivals last year and has been recording segments in various studios between September 2015 and January 2016. So far they have finished the drum recordings with Martin Buchwalter at Gernhart Studios in Germany, as well as completing some basic recordings, mixing and mastering with VO Pulver at Little Greek Studios in Switzerland. Comments DESTRUCTION bassist/vocalist Schmier: "We really took our time for this album. After the summer festivals, we went into the studio every couple of weeks to record brand new songs and ideas in between all the touring activities. We took several studio sessions instead of one long one, to keep the ideas fresh and have time later before the mix to change bits and pieces that we did not like. Maybe this was the most effective writing we did in the last years! Due the fact we had more time in between the albums, there was a lot of musical output and creativity, but also less pressure. From my point of view, you can definitely hear the crispiness in the songwriting and the kick-ass attitude we brought from the shows into the studio. The 'on tour into the studio on tour mode' was so effective that I wanna keep this method for the future!"

He adds: "How does the new record sound? For sure not like a band that is in its 33 years of existence: Efficient aggression: FAST — CATCHY — ORIGINAL!" DESTRUCTION's 30th-anniversary album, "Spiritual Genocide", was released on November 23, 2012 via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2011's "Day Of Reckoning" was recorded at Gernhart Studios in Troisdorf, Germany with engineer Martin Buchwalter and was mixed by Andy Classen. The album featured guest appearances by Thomas "Angelripper" Such (SODOM), Andreas "Gerre" Geremia (TANKARD) and Ol Drake (EVILE). In addition, the "Mad Butcher"/"Release From Agony" lineup of DESTRUCTION — featuring guitarist Harry Wilkens and drummer Oliver Kaiser — reunited for one song.
