Ex-IRON MAIDEN Singer PAUL DI

Ex-IRON MAIDEN Singer PAUL DI'ANNO Is Recording Cover Of DAVID BOWIE's 'Heroes' For Paris Terror Attack Victims

Former IRON MAIDEN singer Paul Di'Anno is teaming up with French singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Stéphane Honde (HOLLYWOOD MONSTERS, THE STARS) to record cover version of the David Bowie song "Heroes" to benefit victims of the November 13 Paris terrorist attacks.

"I left it up to Steph to get the rest of the band together, but we've got a couple of the usual old suspects, like Rudy Sarzo [ex-QUIET RIOT, OZZY OSBOURNE and DIO bassist], " Di'Anno said during a new interview with Canada's The Metal Voice. "Apparently, we've got Simon Kirke [drums] coming in as well, from FREE.

"It's just a few of us quite well-known musicians. It's more of a private thing, I think, more for me and Stéphane, more than anything, 'cause we are European.

"So we wanna try to get this thing out. And you can download it and pay for it, and the money goes to a charity thing."

Di'Anno added that the part of what made the Paris attacks so shocking and hit so close to home was the fact that the greatest number of deaths took place at an EAGLES OF DEATH METAL concert, or a rock concert in general.

"It's quite scary at the moment, especially now that musicians are being targeted as well," he said. "It's a bit scary.

"Poor old France, it's been getting the shit kicked out of it recently."

Di'Anno's band ARCHITECTS OF CHAOZ earlier in the year recorded the song "Je Suis Charlie" as a tribute to the victims of the attack in January on the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.

ARCHITECTS OF CHAOZ, which features Paul alongside members of Di'Anno's longtime German touring backing group THE PHANTOMZ, released its debut album, "The League Of Shadows", in North America on July 24 via Metalville Records.

Joining Di'Anno in ARCHITECTS OF CHAOZ are Joey Siedl (guitar), Andreas Ballnus (guitar), Christoph Lücker (bass) and Dominik Fox (drums).

Recorded, mixed and mastered by Martin Buckwalter (DESTRUCTION, PERZONAL WAR, SUIDAKRA), the songs on "The League Of Shadows" follow the tradition of classic New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM), including influences of modern power metal.

Di'Anno recorded two classic albums with IRON MAIDEN before being fired and replaced by Bruce Dickinson. He went on to front a number of other bands, including KILLERS and BATTLEZONE, and released several solo records.

THE SOUTHERN BLACKLIST Feat. Former SEPULTURA Guitarist JAIRO GUEDZ:

THE SOUTHERN BLACKLIST Feat. Former SEPULTURA Guitarist JAIRO GUEDZ: '10 Tons Of Vengeance' Video

"10 Tons Of Vengeance", the new video from THE SOUTHERN BLACKLIST, the Belo Horizonte, Brazil-based "death/groovy" metal band featuring former SEPULTURA guitarist Jairo Guedz, can be seen below. The clip was directed and edited by Vítor Simões.

In addition to Guedz, THE SOUTHERN BLACKLIST features singer Wallace Parreiras (EMINENCE), bassist Guilherme Henrique (CYHAD), drummer Alexandre Oliveira (DILÚVIO) and guitarist Caio Ribeiro (DILÚVIO).

Regarding THE SOUTHERN BLACKLIST's musical direction, Guedz tells BLABBERMOUTH.NET: "It is hard, metal, punch, groovy and death/thrash kind of music... the way we like it!"

SEPULTURA was formed in 1984 in Belo Horizonte, the capital city of Minas Gerais. Jairo joined the group the following year and played on the band's first two releases, 1985's "Beastial Devastation" EP and their 1986 full-length debut, "Morbid Visions".

In early 1987, Jairo quit SEPULTURA after losing interest in playing death metal and was replaced by São Paulo-based guitarist Andreas Kisser.

Guedz joined CAVALERA CONSPIRACY — the band led by brothers and founding SEPULTURA members Max (also of SOULFLY) and Igor Cavalera — on stage on September 13, 2014 at Music Hall in Belo Horizonte, Brazil to perform the early SEPULTURA classic "Necromancer", a song that he co-wrote.

GEARS Release “Face Down” Lyric Video

GEARS Release “Face Down” Lyric Video

Miami, Florida-based hard rock band, Gears, have released a lyric video for their track "Face Down”, from their new EP Pride Comes Before The Fall, which is available now on iTunes. The EP was written by Corey Lowery and Gears, produced, mixed, & engineered by Corey Lowery, and mastered by Rodney Mills Masterhouse. The lyric video was created by James Shomo.

““Face Down” is a song about how people tend to portray themselves a certain way in social media, when often they're quite the opposite. It's about that moment when someone breaks down, takes to social media for a rant, but when the smoke clears and cooler heads prevail, try to erase the evidence and return to that fake portrayal. We all know people like this.” - Jimmy Wooten (Drums)

Video: EAGLES OF DEATH METAL Return To The Bataclan To Pay Respects To Paris Terror Victims

Video: EAGLES OF DEATH METAL Return To The Bataclan To Pay Respects To Paris Terror Victims

Members of the EAGLES OF DEATH METAL returned to the Bataclan in Paris, France Tuesday (December 8), nearly a month after a terrorist attack killed 89 people that attended the band's concert at the venue.

According to Agence France-Presse, the musicians — Jesse Hughes, Dave Catching and Julian Dorio — went to the memorial outside the venue to pray. They proceeded to lay flowers at the entrance to the building in that has become a shrine to the victims of the seven coordinated terrorist attacks in the French capital, which killed 130 people overall.

EAGLES OF DEATH METAL joined U2 on stage during the last song of the Irish rock band's December 7 concert at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris, France. The two bands played a cover version of Patti Smith's classic "Power To The People". The Jesse Hughes-fronted group also played its own tunes after U2 left the stage.

EAGLES OF DEATH METAL later issued a statement thanking the Irish rockers for their support.

"We want to offer our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for everything our brothers in U2 did for us in the aftermath of the November 13 attacks,." they wrote. "We are incredibly grateful to U2 for providing us the opportunity to return to Paris so quickly, and to share in the healing power of rock 'n' roll...

"Thank you to Bono, The Edge, Larry (Mullen, Jr.) and Adam (Clayton), thank you to their wonderful management... We look forward to fighting the good fight on many more fronts very soon, especially when we pick up our tour in 2016. See you again in February, Paris."

The attacks in Paris led to a military response by France against the radical Islamic organization ISIS, as French jets bombed a series of targets in Syria.

The attacks have stepped up worldwide concern over ISIS, as well as a debate in the U.S. over whether to accept Syrian refugees.

EAGLES OF DEATH METAL was founded in 1998 by QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE mainman Josh Homme and his longtime friend Jesse Hughes. Homme appears on all the band's albums but only plays live with them occasionally.

The band's most recent album, "Zipper Down", was released in October and entered at No. 59 on The Billboard 200 album chart. The first single is called "Complexity".

SACRED OATH Announce European Release Of Ravensong Album; “Taken” Music Video Posted

Connecticut metallers, Sacred Oath, will release their seventh studio album, Ravensong, in Europe on December 11th on the Angel Thorne Music label. This is the band’s first worldwide release under their new distribution deal with ILS/Caroline/Universal.

Ravensong is a return to the same lineup that recorded World On Fire in 2010: Bill Smith (guitar), Brendan Kelleher (bass), Kenny Evans (drums), and Rob Thorne (vocals, guitar). The band’s last album Fallen (2013) featured the original members from their 1988 debut A Crystal Vision as part of a 25th anniversary celebration.

Cover art for Ravensong was illustrated by the band’s drummer Kenny Evans, who also did the cover for A Crystal Revision back in 1998. “Rob called me about an idea of a raven silhouette for the cover and I asked him if I could take a crack at it,” said Kenny. “It worked out very well.  I guess we’ll hear what people think soon enough. It’s certainly a different kind of cover for Sacred Oath, but that was what we were going for.”

“Ravensong”
“So Cold”
“Live And Burn”
“Culture Of Sin”

BURY TOMORROW Streaming New Song “Memories”

BURY TOMORROW Streaming New Song “Memories”

“Memories”, a track from Bury Tomorrow’s upcoming Earthound album, is streaming below.

Speaking of the song, singer Dani Winter-Bates says, "The track is another taster of what 'Earthbound' the record is really about. It's fast and heavy but filled with melody. We have never shied away from the genre metalcore and this track is exactly that. We thought we would give fans an early Christmas present, if people preorder Earthbound now they get “Memories” straight away and another part of the album to enjoy."

At a time when modern metal is so slavishly led by the following of whatever fashion carousel is popular this week, rare are the bands who find success on their own, gimmick-free terms. A decade into their career, Southampton/Portsmouth quintet Bury Tomorrow are, by whatever yardstick you want to measure it, one such band.

With an ethos which has never wavered from a threefold focus on unswerving passion, unrelenting hard work and remorselessly driving, slash ’n’ burn riffola, Bury Tomorrow have hauled themselves into a position as one of the UK’s premiere purveyors of mosh by the sheer force of their own will. 2014’s Runes saw a veritable dam-break for the band, a UK rock chart number one and top 40 success in the mainstream, it was a record that enabled them to take their devastating live show to festival main stages across Europe and the UK, before finally culminating in a headline tour which saw the band playing to 1400 braying fans at a sold out London KOKO.

Now though, with Earthbound, they have stepped things up yet another gear. Watch the official music video for album's title track below.

“To me, Earthbound feels like the distillation of everything we’ve ever wanted this band to be about,” says frontman Dani Winter-Bates. “Our first three records are kind of part of their own trilogy but this is Bury Tomorrow’s record, we all see this as our chance to show people what we are capable of.”

Certainly Earthbound finds BT on more concise form that ever before: ten tracks that get in, batter you across the face, and get out again with precious little time for respite or caught breath. Hardcore mentality for a metalcore generation.

“A big thing for us this time around was to get down to the real nitty gritty of what our fans wanted from us and how to give them without wasting a single second,” continues Dani. “With Earthbound we wanted pace, we wanted heaviness, and for me, personally, I wanted to write a record which was the sonic embodiment of a circle pit. I think we’ve done that.”

With notable influences ranging from axe-slinging New Wave Of American Heavy Metallers Unearth and Darkest Hour to the apoplectic fury of Terror and Madball, this is one that will get the pit spinning with consummate ease.

But while fans of the heavy stuff will find plenty to grasp onto here, it’s the now trademark interplay between Dani and guitarist and vocalist Jason Cameron which sets Earthbound apart. “It’s much more mature in the interplay between me and Jason,” Dani notes. “We’ve been playing together for ten years now and it feels like we have an almost telepathic understanding of one another. We’ve always wanted to be like one vocalist in two parts and I think we’ve achieved that here.”

One listen to the sky-scraping euphoria of ‘Last Light’ or the call-to-arms swagger of the title track will tell you that Dani isn’t lying: monstrous anthems from a band who are coming of age as a truly astonishing force of musical nature. Elsewhere, ‘301’s chastising punch sees Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta lending his iron lungs to proceedings to devastating effect.

“More than anything that song is about how our music belongs to our fans first, those first 301 people who run to Youtube who want to check it out and are excited about it. It’s kind of a ‘fuck you’ to all those people who go ‘Bury Tomorrow aren’t proper metal’ or whatever. It’s Jamey fucking Jasta and I know our fans are going to love it.”

It’s that focus on their fan base which has made BT not only one of the best, but one of the most well-loved bands working in the UK today, and, in Dani, one of the most charismatic frontmen imaginable.

With Earthbound looming on the horizon, Bury Tomorrow’s fortunes look set to go through the roof and all the hard work pay off in spades..

“Where we are now is where we’ve always wanted to be,” smiles Dani. “And now we’re in the position to truly deliver on what we’ve promised so far. We aren’t going to let anyone down.”

Earthbound is released on January 29th on Nuclear Blast. Pre-orders are available via the links below:

DESERT SUNS To Re-Release Debut Album; Full Audio Stream Available

DESERT SUNS To Re-Release Debut Album; Full Audio Stream Available

Released earlier in the year and limited to a run of 300 copies on vinyl through the Birmingham-based label HeviSike Records, San Diego rockers Desert Suns self-titled debut will receive an official re-release worldwide this January through a special collaboration between Ripple Music and HeviSike Records.

In that space where psychedelia, blues-rock, doom and sludge coalesce, it’s there you’re likely to find Desert Suns. Formed in late 2013, from the outset the Californian four-piece demonstrated a versatility rarely seen amongst their contemporaries. In no time at all they wrote, recorded and released their debut single, “Burning Temples”, in January of 2014, and by the summer they had already started to unload an arsenal of new sounds.

Their self-titled debut was released on August 16th, 2014 and reassured fans that they were far from one hit wonders. Containing haunting lyrics of alienation with compelling hooks, an addictive and atmospheric energy and heavy, pulsating beats, fans of early ’70s proto-metal acts such as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Blue Cheer will appreciate the classic grooves exhibited here on storming tracks like “Ten Feet Down” and album closer “Run Through My Roots”.

Mastered by renowned multi-instrumentalist Tony Reed (Mos Generator/Stone Axe) at HeavyHead Recording Co in Washington, Desert Suns will be released in North America on January 15th on vinyl/CD through Ripple Music and on LP in the UK through HeviSike Records.

Video: 10-Year-Old IRON MAIDEN Fan Joins NICKO MCBRAIN For 'Flight Of Icarus' Performance

10-year-old IRON MAIDEN fan Devin Shattuck joined THE MCBRAINIACS, the band featuring IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain, to perform the MAIDEN classic "Flight Of Icarus" at an event in Florida this past weekend. The performance took place at the sixth-anniversary celebration for Rock N Roll Ribs, the barbecue restaurant owned by McBrain and close friend Mitch Tanne, in Coral Springs.

As the youngest member of the School Of Rock Coral Springs house band, Shattuck performs at many local events. He has been singing since age 3 and playing drums since age 4.

Video footage of Shattuck singing "Flight Of Icarus" with THE MCBRAINIACS can be seen below.

A barbecue joint with a musical bent, Rock N Roll Ribs showcases its love for smokey Southern cooking with food like barbecued pork and chicken and clever takes on MAIDEN songs, like "Run to the Hills" wings.

"It's not just MAIDEN fans that come in," McBrain said about the restaurant in a 2010 interview. "We do get a lot of pilgrimages, people come in and look at all the stuff on the walls, but most people that come in always come out satisfied. And it's not major expensive. A rack of ribs is [$20], and you get a pound and a quarter to a pound and a half of ribs."

Asked if he has always been a BBQ fan, McBrain told Broward Palm Beach New Times in a 2013 interview: "Yeah! You know, I'm a Brit, and we don't have a very long summer, so it's very few and far between people get out and do a barbie in the backyard. Touring around America, I always used to love buying a rack of baby backs and some cole slaw and French Fries, and that was my main BBQ experience, the baby backs. Then a friend of mine taught me how to make the ribs we make in the restaurant, and I started to make some sauce, and it was very successful and people liked it, and that's where Rock N Roll Ribs was born, really. It was a dream we had and it finally came into fruition. I've got to be honest, it's not a business that's making a lot of money for us, but we make a lot of people smile and a lot of people happy. I'm very happy, it's great! I love it when I meet people and they say things like, 'these are the ribs I've ever had,' or, 'Your pulled pork is to die for,' and it warms the cockles of me heart!"

Watch TRIVIUM

Watch TRIVIUM's First Show With New Drummer PAUL WANDTKE

Fan-filmed video footage of TRIVIUM's December 5 performance at Knotfest in Toluca, Mexico can be seen below. The concert marked the band's first appearance with its new drummer, Chicago native Paul Wandtke.

Wandtke has previously drummed for the hit musical "Rock Of Ages" and sat behind the kit for KILL HANNAH during the band's main-support run with the SMASHING PUMPKINS.

TRIVIUM in May 2014 parted ways with drummer Nick Augusto due to personal differences. Stepping in for him on TRIVIUM's recent dates and on the band's latest album, "Silence In The Snow", was the group's drum tech, Mat Madiro.

Regarding TRIVIUM's latest drummer switch, guitarist/vocalist Matt Heafy wrote on Twitter: "I'll keep this short and sweet. Any change we've ever made in TRIVIUM has been necessary for the very survival of the band."

Matt Heafy's father Brian Heafy, who used to manage TRIVIUM, wrote on Instagram: "I had the pleasure meeting Paul Wandtke (TRIVIUM drummer) at the TRIVIUM in-store signing event and we had him over for Thanksgiving dinner! Paul and I also hung out for a bit at the TRIVIUM beer-tasting event.

"I know Matthew, Corey [Beaulieu, guitar], and Paolo [Gregoletto, bass] are excited about what Paul brings to the team. Incredible timing, vigorous work ethic and loves to practice. A player's player, from what I have seen. Hopefully everything works out positively.

"Many of you know I've been in the TRIVIUM camp (1999-2010) for quite a awhile and I've seen three drummers come and go, like the rest of you. During my time, one of the weakest links in the group has always been the drumming. All solid people, but not quite up to the standards [Matt, Corey and Paolo] place upon themselves. We wish them all well, never personal."

"Silence In The Snow" debuted at No. 19 on The Billboard 200 chart, having shifted 18,000 equivalent album units in the week ending October 8.

The Billboard 200 ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

"Silence In The Snow" was released on October 2 via Roadrunner. The follow-up to 2013's "Vengeance Falls" was produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette (SLASH, ALTER BRIDGE, THE AMITY AFFLICTION) and was mixed by Josh Wilbur (GOJIRA, LAMB OF GOD).

BEARDFISH Multi-Instrumentalist RIKARD SJÖBLOM To Release The Unbendable Sleep Solo Album

BEARDFISH Multi-Instrumentalist RIKARD SJÖBLOM To Release The Unbendable Sleep Solo Album

Swedish progressive rock purveyors, Beardfish, have been one of the most prolific bands on the scene for almost two decades. Founded by multi-instrumentalist Rikard Sjöblom, the band has been on a winning streak since 2001.

However, Sjöblom has been a part of different music projects over the years, most notably he released albums under the name Gungfly, and he has also been a part of UK progressive rock band Big Big Train recently.

Over the past few months, Rikard worked on a solo album which will be released in February 2016. Titled The Unbendable Sleep, the record brings eight songs which certainly possess quality to appeal to music fans of different genres. Sjöblom has once again created a diverse album, but in a more intimate format than we are accustomed to.

Speaking about his decision to release an album under his name at this point of his career, Rikard says: “There are a number of reasons why I did this, but the main one is that Gungfly which started out as a solo project later became more of a band with members and all that and it’s a really good band and I love it and all that but I guess to really be solo you almost have to use your birth name?”

He continues: “I’ve only released one album under my name before and that was recorded in 2003, released in 2006. It’s called ‘Cyklonmannen’ and it’s an instrumental, musical interpretation of a novel with the same name written by Sweden’s only beatnik writer Sture Dahlström. It’s pretty obscure stuff! But, the guy who made quite a lot of the book covers for Sture is called Bernt Daniels and he’s the same guy who has painted the cover painting of ‘The Unbendable Sleep.’ So that was another reason, because when I asked permission from Bernt to use the book cover back in 2006 he sent me this postcard with this painting on it and it was Beste Schweizermilch, the very same painting you see on the cover of ‘The Unbendable Sleep,’ and I just fell in love with it and decided that I wanted to use it someday. So, it’s quite fitting that Bernt Daniels has made the cover paintings of the only two albums I’ve made as Rikard Sjöblom, don’t you think?

“It also feels like it’s the right time to do it because right now I’m involved in many different interesting projects and I’ve longed to make something that is completely me now for a while, so it’s the right time!”

Thematically, The Unbendable Sleep goes around the usual subjects: love, life, death, and it deals a lot with self-esteem and believing in yourself.

“Sounds cheesy, I know, but it’s pretty important stuff,” Rikard continues. “I found myself singing about mirrors quite a lot and that’s also referring to just that, looking into the mirror and not recognizing the person staring back at you.”

Sjöblom says that he has plans for performing these songs live. “I really want to take this music out on the road,” he admits, “but I don’t want to lock myself in with just doing band-stuff. At the moment I’m very much into to doing solo shows as well with just an acoustic (and maybe an electric too) guitar and my voice, but you can’t do that with all of the material, so there will be a full on band as well. Hopefully I can book something in the near future!”

The Unbendable Sleep will be available starting February as digital download and CD via Gungfly Productions. The vinyl version of the album will be available from Plane Groovy.

The Unbendable Sleep tracklisting:

“Love And War Part One: I Am Who You Are”
“Realm Of You And Me”
“Rhyme And Reason”
“Will We Cry?”
“Under Northern Skies (Villemo's Song)”
“Building A Tent For Astor”
“Anna-Lee”
“Love And War Part Two: Lucky Star”

Documentary About TWISTED SISTER

Documentary About TWISTED SISTER's Early Days Gets Release Date

The TWISTED SISTER movie "We Are Twisted F*cking Sister!" a documentary film by Andrew Horn, will be released in Europe on January 29, 2016 via Monoduo Films. The 137-minute film (along with over two hours of bonus material) will be available on VOD (iTunes and Vimeo On Demand) and as a DVD (Amazon Europe and Monoduo Films shop).

"We Are Twisted F*cking Sister!" recounts the untold story of TWISTED SISTER's beginnings. Once upon a time, they were the GRAND FUNK of glam and the NEW YORK DOLLS of metal. Some considered TWISTED SISTER a joke; others called them the greatest bar band in the world. While the microcosm of punk/new wave was taking over New York City in the mid-'70s and early '80s, TWISTED SISTER was battling its way to the top of a vast — and unique to its time — suburban, cover-band bar scene that surrounded New York City in a 100-mile radius, yet existed in a parallel universe. Guitarist Jay Jay French says: "The history of TWISTED is really our 10 years clawing our way through the bar scene. It's who we are, and it's why we are, and why we do what we do."

The film follows the band from their beginnings as a cross-dressing glam band playing four shows a night, six nights a week in New Jersey bowling alleys and Long Island beach bars, to the suburban mega-clubs of the late '70s and early '80s, to their bust-out appearance on the U.K. rock TV show "The Tube". Through it all, TWISTED stood ready to do or die for the sake of "the show," giving their all to the crowd, and demanding full attention in return. They refused to play the usual bar band role of "human juke box for drunk and horny teens" — you were going to be entertained, whether you liked it or not.

They regaled their audiences with comedy rants, dragging them on stage for vomit-inducing drinking games, engaging them in fits of disco record smashing and, at their most extreme, whipping them into club-destroying frenzy. The performances were low on style and heavy on the humor and attitude — but behind it all, always smart and full of self-awareness. SPINAL TAP may have been clueless but TWISTED SISTER knew exactly what they were doing!

If you think you know them from their hit songs, the MTV videos and their massive stadium shows, this is the story of how they became that band — full of strange, and often hilarious, twists and turns. It's about rock 'n' roll and the business of rock 'n' roll. It's about perseverance and things blowing up in your face. It's about finding yourself, finding your audience and doing literally anything, however wild, to connect with them. And even though we know how it ends, the roller coaster ride of getting there is what it's all about. A mesmerizing, and wickedly funny story of a 10-year odyssey to overnight success.

Horn took to the crowdfunding site Indiegogo in 2013 to help raise the $150,000 he projected at the time it was going to take for the film to receive a full release.

In a videotaped message posted at Horn's YouTube channel, TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider said Horn got at the heart of the band's "'Rocky'-esque story of a band of brothers from the New York area who toughed it out for nearly a decade before finding fame and fortune." The singer went on to describe the end result as "for people who are original fans, hardcore fans, true fans — or want to know more about this band."

He added: "This is independently done, which is the way a documentary of this kind should be [and not like other rock documentaries where the] band puts together … a piece of propaganda to make [themselves] look good."

Jay Jay French previously stated about the film: "Andy has been working on this documentary for the last [five] years. The idea came to him after an interview with me concerning another artist named Klaus Nomi who opened for us at the Soap Factory around 1981. At that time, Andy really knew very little about us and became fascinated by the story of our long and winding road to a record deal.

"While most of the world thinks that TWISTED SISTER started in 1984, there are those who know a much different story.

"The band's die-hard fans in the U.K. thought the story began a couple of years earlier when Secret Records signed us in England.

"There does exist, however, a subset of fans who know the real story. Those fans are from the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Those fans spent years supporting us.

"Because of the sheer number of super-sized night clubs that started operating in the tri-state area around 1976, there exists a fan base that only knew us with me, Dee [Snider, vocals], Eddie [Ojeda, guitar] and for a short time bassist Ken Neill (with an assortment of changing drummers).

"However, before that, TWISTED SISTER played hundreds of shows at places like the Mad Hatter in East Quouge, Mr. T's & Maxis in Wantagh, in Long Island, The Satellite Lounge, The Wreck Room, Dodd's, The Colony III, The Joker II, The Searchlite, Spruce Goose, The Capricorn and the George Inn in NJ and the Sahara located in Adams, Massachusetts.

"This version, when you look at the photo history of the band, contained me and four people most of you don't know: vocalist Michael Valentine, guitarist Billy Diamond, bassist Kenny Neill and drummer Mell Starr.

"Except for Kenny, these former members were either fired or left under very bad circumstances. What happened as a result of the experiences that I had with these ex members formed the basis of my management skills and taught me what to look for in future hiring. In fact, the first break up of the band in December of 1974 led to a personal crisis at the age of 22, that forever changed my life and taught me how to cope in the face of total failure both professionally and emotionally.

"In short, the lessons learned over those first two years formed the basis of the future of TWISTED SISTER. Without having gone through it, the band, as it exists in the hearts of millions of fans around the world, would never had existed.

"To be clear, this in no way implies that Dee, Mark [Mendoza, bass], Eddie and AJ [Pero, drums] would not have found fame in their own right. These are all immensely talented musicians. I can also state that I can't see where I would have succeeded without these guys.

"It was clear to me early on that the first version of the band was never going to make it. None of the members, except Kenny, had what it takes.

"The lack of focus, professionalism and raw talent of the first version became obvious and the proof is that of all the original five members, only me and Kenny survived that circus.

"I will say this, however, about the very early days of TWISTED SISTER: Our agent worked us to death, playing 5-6 nights a week 4-5 shows per night. Some shows ended as late as 6 a.m.!

"In those days, you played in one club for 3-6 night in a row. In the case of the Mad Hatter in East Quouge, we played 78 nights between May and September."

Video: EAGLES OF DEATH METAL Join U2 On Stage In Paris

Video: EAGLES OF DEATH METAL Join U2 On Stage In Paris

California rockers EAGLES OF DEATH METAL joined U2 on stage during the last song of the Irish rock band's December 7 concert at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris, France. The two bands played a cover version of Patti Smith's classic "Power To The People". The Jesse Hughes-fronted group also played its own tunes after U2 left the stage.

"They were robbed of their stage three weeks ago and we would like to offer them ours tonight," U2 singer Bono told the audience during the encore of their HBO special.

"We are all Parisians tonight," Bono said earlier in the concert. "If you believe in liberty, Paris is your hometown."

EAGLES OF DEATH METAL was originally rumored to be special guests of U2 on the first night of Irish band's two-night Paris stand.

EAGLES OF DEATH METAL, who were about six songs into their set before gunfire broke out at the Bataclan venue in Paris, France on November 13, are planning to resume their halted European tour in February 2016.

EAGLES OF DEATH METAL recently vowed to be the first band to return to Bataclan when it reopens. Hughes stated in an interview: "I cannot wait to get back to Paris… Our friends went there to see rock 'n' roll and died. I'm going to go back there and live."

More than 129 people were killed in seven coordinated terrorist attacks in the French capital on November 13.

The greatest number of deaths took place at the Bataclan, where terrorists began a siege that ended with 89 people in the club either shot to death or killed in explosions.

RUSH Share "YYZ" Video From R40 Live

RUSH Share "YYZ" Video From R40 Live

Earlier today at age 63, Rush drummer Neil Peart announced that he is retiring from music, stating "like all athletes, there comes a time to... take yourself out of the game."

Perhaps in an attempt to soften the blow, Rush has uploaded their performance of instrumental classic "YYZ", taken from newly released DVD and Blu-ray, R40 Live.

Rush recently released a new video from their newly released R40 Live concert film. Check out “Mel's Rockpile” / “Lakeside Park” / “Anthem” streaming below:

All roads have led to this. Forty-one years in the making, the R40 Live tour took a very real journey back through time. Beginning with the grand design: a state-of-the-art stage set that pivots, rolls and dives, and brings Clockwork Angels in to bombastic, colorful life before marching stridently back in time (through theatre stages, a panoply of band and fan shots, the accrued memories of a life spent playing live) to a mocked-up school gym and the band playing there; a solitary bass amp set on the chair behind Geddy Lee, a mirror ball spiraling crazily above, casting thin rods of light like a light rain across the crowd, “Working Man” coming to a shuddering halt as the band’s beginning becomes their end.

Rush recorded and filmed R40 Live over two sold-out shows in the band’s hometown of Toronto at the Air Canada Centre on June 17th and 19th, 2015 in the middle of their R40 Live 35-date North American tour.

R40 Live had the trio of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart, performing a career-spanning live retrospective, celebrating their 40+ years together. The epic live shows by the Rock Hall of Famers were captured with 14 cameras to present the band feature-film style.

Portugal’s DESTROYERS OF ALL Sign With Mosher Records; Debut Full-Length Due In March

Portugal’s DESTROYERS OF ALL Sign With Mosher Records; Debut Full-Length Due In March

Portuguese prog-death metallers, Destroyers Of All, will release their first full-length, Bleak Fragments, on March 18th through the newly founded Mosher Records.

Recorded at Golden Jack Studios Coimbra, the follow up to critically acclaimed EP Into The Fire (2013) features ten songs packed with mad riffs, virtuoso lead work, intricate dynamics that will catch you off-guard and a dark vocal delivery that ties together this complex gem.

On working with producer Joao Dourado, the band stated: “He knows us better that anyone else, and mainly, he knows our sound and how we want to mould it, and that makes it all easier to work with.”

Regarding the album concept, vocalist Joao Mateus says: “The main focus is the real world, it is what inspires us. Each song has it's own identity, it's own history and concept. They may not have a direct link or sequence, but they only make sense when coming together on our record.”

The band reached out to indonesian artist Silencer8 (As I Lay Dying, Kylesa, Caliban, Suicide Silence) for the album cover. “It was awesome to see he was extremely interested in working with us”, the band reveals. “So we passed on the themes our music gravites around and some pre-productions of Bleak Fragments,” the result is an impressive piece of art, as intricate as the music itself.

Tracklisting:

“From Ashes Reborn”
“Hollow Words”
“Hate Through Violence”
“Bleak Fragments”
“Death Healer”
“Unexistence”
“The Pain That Feeds”
“Speed Of Mind”
“Tormento”
“Day Of Reckoning”

Destroyers Of All will promote the new album with live gigs starting in 2016, and the band has the intention to expand their touring schedule beyond the national borders. Bleak Fragments will have worldwide distribution and will also be available through the usual digital marketplaces and streaming platforms. Pre-orders will be available soon through the Mosher website.

MITHRIDATIC Sign With Kaotoxin Records

MITHRIDATIC Sign With Kaotoxin Records

Kaotoxin Records has inked a deal with French oppressive blackened death metal wolfpack Mithridatic, who will release their debut full-length during the first quarter of 2016.

Formed in 2007, Mithridatic have released numerous demos and brutalized European stages over the course of their eight year existence. In 2013, the band recruited Svart Crown drummer Kevin Paradis and began work on material for their debut, which was recorded in May of this year.

Expect an unstoppable barrage of absolute heaviness, a psychotic Hell of tormented twistedness and an atrocious dose of full-on brutality somewhere along the lines of Ulcerate, Morbid Angel, Mayhem and Portal.

The band's 2014 demo, The Hunt Is On, is available at this location. A drum play-through video featuring Kevin Paradis can be seen below:

METALLICA

METALLICA's JAMES HETFIELD Is 'Proud' Of 'Lulu' Album

METALLICA frontman James Hetfield has defended "Lulu", the band's controversial collaborative album with former THE VELVET UNDERGROUND frontman Lou Reed, explaining that making the record was a "fun" experience that brought the members of closer METALLICA together.

"Lulu" polarized fans around the world and earned METALLICA some of the most scathing reviews of its career. The effort featured the former THE VELVET UNDERGROUND frontman's spoken-word poetry and lyrics combined with METALLICA's musical assault for a jarring experience that didn't sound like anything METALLICA had ever attempted before.

Four years since its release, "Lulu" has only sold under 40,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Speaking to METALLICA's fan-club magazine So What!, Hetfield said that he has no regrets about making "Lulu".

"We've been extremely either bullheaded or lucky or something," he said. "We've been maybe very jaded in that things have worked pretty well for us. We're perfectionists. We're really extremely self-critical. It's gotten us to where we are, but it's also the curse. When something doesn't go right, I come down so hard on myself.

"'Lulu' wasn't accepted as much as we accepted it," he continued. "I'm really proud that we did it. It was fun, it was an adventure. And there are a lot of bands out there that do adventures that kill them, whether it's choosing the wrong management or making a bad investment or something like that.

"We've got this dedication and loyalty to this band that no matter what, nothing can kill us. Whether it's Cliff Burton [dying], Jason [Newsted] leaving, 'Some Kind Of Monster' [movie], the drama that's going on now, there's always something that we stick together with and survive through. So 'Lulu' brought us together even more."

Hetfield added: "There's certain artists that stand up with you and say, 'Hey, I like it. They're artists! They had fun! It's something they wanted to do and they did it.' You don't have to like it, I get that, and there are people that are articulate enough to be able to say it that way: 'I might not like the project, but I'm really glad, as an artist, they took a risk and went for it.'

"I think it comes down to personalities. You either want things to be safe, and you invest in them so much that if it's not safe, it rocks your whole world, or you look at life as an adventure."

METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett said that he was unfazed by the fact that most of the band's fans found "Lulu" to be virtually unlistenable, saying "I love that album to death. It's unfortunate that other people don't see it the same way as I do, but what can I do about it? I can't do anything about it. I can just keep on loving it. And if people like it, great. If people don't like it, that's great too. It's only music."

In a 2012 interview with Spin, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich admitted that the band was caught off guard by the vehement reaction to "Lulu", saying, "It was more spiteful than anyone was prepared for. Especially against Lou. He is such a sweet man. But when METALLICA do impulsive riffing and Lou Reed is reciting abstract poetry about German bohemians from 150 years ago, it can be difficult to embrace." Asked whether the band had second thoughts over some of Reed's lyrics, like "I swallow your sharpest cutter / Like a colored man's dick," Ulrich said, "I understand that to some 13-year-old in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, it can all seem a little cringe-worthy, but to someone raised in an art community in Copenhagen in the late '60s, that was expected."

The collaboration between METALLICA and Reed was sparked by their performance together of Reed's "Sweet Jane" and "White Light/White Heat" at the 25th anniversary of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame at Madison Square Garden in October of 2009.

The songs were all written by Reed with extensive arrangement contributions by METALLICA.

Only two songs on the album are under five minutes in length, while two are more than 11 minutes long and the closing cut, "Junior Dad", clocks in at 19 minutes.

Reed died in October 2013 at the age of 71, five months after he had a life-saving liver transplant, according to his wife, Laurie Anderson.
