DISTURBED's DAVID DRAIMAN On 'Rock Is Dead' Claim: 'Not If I Have Anything To Do With It'Last September, KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons made headlines when he declared in an Esquire article that rock was "finally dead." In the months that followed, many a musician has weighed in on the topic in a variety of interviews, with some digging a little deeper into Simmons's full comments and others just glossing over the headline.
Speaking with Music Choice, DISTURBED frontman David Draiman offered his opinion on the subject. He said (see video below): "There's everybody in the world who is always trying, time and time again, to proclaim the death of rock, or hard rock and heavy metal. Not if I have anything to do with it, not if we have anything to do with it. And certainly our colleagues in the genre are making us proud as well — the guys in KORN, the guys in FIVE FINGER [DEATH PUNCH], the guys in VOLBEAT, they're all doing an amazing job, and they're definitely carrying the torch. It's gonna be now up to us to kind of fan that flame a little bit."
DISTURBED's sixth studio album, "Immortalized", is headed for an August 21 release and Draiman gave The Pulse Of Radio his thoughts on the title: "'Immortalized' is hopefully what music does for everyone, in terms of emotions, in terms of experiences, in terms of being people who create it. There's nothing that can lock a memory in your mind more distinctly than with a piece of music. It's so easy to remember something so vividly and so perfectly when you score it to something."
The album ends a four-year hiatus for the band and features the current Top 10 rock single, "The Vengeful One".
"Immortalized" is available for pre-order everywhere and follows 2010's gold-certified "Asylum", DISTURBED's fourth consecutive No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart.
DISTURBED has yet to announce tour plans behind the new record. The band will play its first show in four years on August 21 at the House of Blues in the group's hometown of Chicago. 15

SLAYER's PAUL BOSTAPH: It's 'An Honor' To Know JEFF HANNEMAN Wanted Me Back In The BandPaul Bostaph says that it's "honor" to know that one of Jeff Hanneman's last decisions as a member of SLAYER was to get the drummer back into the band following the departure of Dave Lombardo.
Lombardo was effectively fired from SLAYER after sitting out the band's Australian tour in February/March 2013 due to a contract dispute with the other members of the group. He has since been replaced by Bostaph, who was previously SLAYER's drummer from 1992 until 2001 and recorded four albums with the band.
In a recent interview with Artisan News, SLAYER guitarist Kerry King revealed that Hanneman was instrumental in the decision-making process that resulted in Bostaph's return to the group. He said: "That was one of Jeff's last decisions in SLAYER; he voted Paul back in. And I wouldn't go against Jeff. Jesus… For him to be paying attention and being able to make a decision, I was, like, fuckin' sending skyrockets in the sky: 'Thank you! Jeff did something!'"
Asked by Keith of Soundcrave Magazine whether it was humbling to know that Hanneman wanted him to come back to SLAYER, Bostaph responded (see video below): "Absolutely. It was humbling that all three [remaining original members of SLAYER at the time] wanted me there."
He continued: "I never got a chance to see Jeff before he passed, but it was an honor to know that he wanted me back."
Gary Holt of San Francisco Bay Area thrash icons EXODUS has been the touring guitarist for SLAYER since January 2011 when Hanneman contracted necrotizing fasciitis, also known as flesh-eating disease, from a spider bite in his backyard.
Hanneman eventually died in May 2013 from alcohol-related cirrhosis of the liver. He is credited for writing many of SLAYER's classic songs, including "Angel Of Death" and "South Of Heaven".
SLAYER's new album, "Repentless", will be released on September 11 via Nuclear Blast. 6

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE: New Song 'Worthless' Available For Streaming"Worthless", a brand new song from U.K. metal titans BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. The track is taken from the band's fifth studio album, "Venom", which will be released on August 14 via RCA. The CD marks the band's first release since the departure of longtime bassist Jason James and addition of Jamie Mathias. Jamie, who has been playing and touring in bands for the last ten years, fronted the band REVOKER, which released an album, "Revenge For The Ruthless", in 2011 on the Roadrunner label.
Speaking to Kerrang! magazine, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE guitarist/vocalist Matt Tuck stated about Mathias: "He's a Welsh lad. He sent in an audition tape and his was really good. We held auditions for a few guys, and when he came, he just smashed it. He fitted in instantly, especially with the Welsh connection. He plays like a beast and he sings like an angel."
Produced by Carl Bown and Colin Richardson (SLIPKNOT, MACHINE HEAD, TRIVIUM) at Metropolis Studio in London, "Venom" is described in a press release as "an unrelenting, fierce step forward for BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE" and the band's "heaviest record to date."
"We've got massive hopes for this album," Tuck told Kerrang! "We truly believe it's going to be the biggest metal record of the year. We've had these feelings in the past and we've always been spot on, but this one feels way more special than anything else we've ever done, so, fingers crossed, it's going to do what we want it to do."
"Army Of Noise", as well as previously released tracks "No Way Out" and "You Want A Battle? (Here's A War)", is available for instant download now with all pre-orders at BulletForMyValentine.com. A limited-edition "Venom" package is available exclusively through BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's webstore. This bundle includes CD, vinyl and cassette versions of "Venom", as well as custom t-shirt, bracelet and necklace. All purchases will include a pre-sale code for early access to tickets for their 2016 headlining tour. BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE has joined up with SLIPKNOT and LAMB OF GOD for this summer's North American tour. 2

Tracklisting:
“The Sorceress”

Later addition of guitarist Brock Macinnis (Percheron, Blood River Band), the band was able to take shape and round out the songs for their debut self titled full length LP.

BEHOLD! THE MONOLITH Streaming New Track “Philosopher's Blade”Los Angeles stoner/doom metal band Behold! The Monolith will release new album Architects of the Void September 29 on CD, digital, and vinyl. Pre-order the album at Bandcamp. The track “Philosopher's Blade” can be heard streaming below.
Legendary producer Billy Anderson has expertly harnessed the band's smoke-belching locomotive style, while the songwriting is the most captivating of the quartet's career.
Guitarist Matt Price had this to say about the results: "It's a relatively dark album, which is probably fitting. A few of the riffs and ideas had pretty much coagulated right before Kevin's accident, and most of the others were colored by it, so yeah it feels kinda heavy and dark to me. I hope I don't sound like a high falootin' artisté, but it felt personal for me and Chase, so it wound up being more than just stringing riffs together, ya know? That being said Cas and Jordan came in and kicked ass and brought their own stamp to the sound. So it's a bit different, but I think it captures the essence what Behold! The Monolith is all about!"
Architects of the Void follows 2012 release Defender, Redeemist marks the debut of vocalist Jordan Nalley who took the reins following the tragic 2013 death of Kevin McDade in a car accident. The album will also be the first for new bassist Jason "Cas" Casanova (Sasquatch). The album artwork was created by Dusty Peterson (Bloodbath, Six Feet Under, Oceano).
Architects Of The Void tracklisting:
“Umbral Vale”
“Philosopher’s Blade”
“The Mithridist”
“Lord Of Bones”
“Black Days Of…”
“Between Oder And The Vistula”
“Architects Of The Void”
“Philosopher's Blade”:

ABBATH-Less IMMORTAL Begins Work On New Material: 'We Will Continue What We Believe In'Norwegian black metallers IMMORTAL — now consisting of lyricist/guitarist Demonaz (real name Harald Nævdal) and drummer Horgh (real name Reidar Horghagen) following last year's split with frontman Olve Eikemo (a.k.a. Abbath) — are working on material for the band's next album, to be released via the Nuclear Blast label.
Demonaz, IMMORTAL's founding member, has created the material based on his visions of Blashyrkh for nearly 25 years.
Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Northern Chaos Gods", "Called To Ice" and "Blacker Of Worlds".
Abbath last year claimed that he rightfully attempted to secure exclusive rights to the IMMORTAL name and logo after Demonaz and drummer Horgh effectively quit the legendary Norwegian black metal group.
"I didn't want to go solo in the first place," Abbath told U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine. "I wanted the best for IMMORTAL. I didn't want it to end this way. First of all, I just wanted my music out. I wanted to record the [next] album [because] it's been so many years since 'All Shall Fall'. And both Demonaz and Horgh, they have kids and families now, and it just hit that point where I couldn't work the way they wanted to work any more. I wanted things on my terms and they wanted things on their terms, and it was very difficult."
He continued: "I wanted to rehearse at least three times a week, but often it was only once a week and things went so slow. I sat there with all this material, I kept the rehearsal space and recorded the stuff on click track, but it was a very strained atmosphere and the Last time we worked together was in early June last year."
The trademark application from Eikemo was denied on July 21, 2015 and he has snce launched his own band called ABBATH. "IMMORTAL never stopped; we just had to go through a long legal process before we could go out in the media with the news," Demonaz and Horgh said in a statement.
"IMMORTAL is much more than just a band, and much more than just a form of music. The departure of one member cannot change that, no matter. We will continue what we believe in, and the power of 'Blashyrkh' shall live on."
Asked if the decision to part ways and seek out new band members was inevitable, Abbath said: "I was forced to do it this way. I wanted IMMORTAL to continue, but not the way it was. The dialogue has not been there and it's also my mistake. I should have brought up this shit a long time ago, but IMMORTAL, after Demonaz's problems with his arms, it never became a band after that."
He continued: "IMMORTAL is a very special situation. [Demonaz] hasn't been in the band, but then I always wanted to do the best for everybody, to have the band spirit, and that's why when we decided to start IMMORTAL again, we tried to get the spirit back, and bring him on tour, and just share our thing and be a band and have a kick-ass time. But it never worked out. The chemistry wasn't there with the IMMORTAL guys and hadn't been for a while."
Abbath added: "I believe in my music and I believe in my expression, but time flies and we grow apart. Maybe in the future we can go back again, I don't know, but right now I just want to do my thing and just be ABBATH and have people around me who support that."
Bass duties for ABBATH are being handled by a man familiar to metal fans across the world — Tom Cato Visnes, more widely known as King Ov Hell and main composer for several GORGOROTH albums as well as his own bands OV HELL, with singer Shagrath from DIMMU BORGIR, and GOD SEED, with exceptional black metal vocalist Gaahl. His fellow GOD SEED member and BORKNAGAR percussionist, Baard Kolstad, has also joined ABBATH on drums.
IMMORTAL's core trio consisting of Abbath, Demonaz and Horgh had been together since 1996 and has been responsible for crafting the band's last five albums: "Blizzard Beasts" (1997), "At The Heart Of Winter" (1999), "Damned In Black" (2000), "Sons Of Northern Darkness" (2002) and the 2009 reunion album "All Shall Fall". 16

CANNIBAL CORPSE Drummer Says SLAYER Wasn't Big Enough To Headline MAYHEM FESTIVALCANNIBAL CORPSE drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz says that the seemingly disastrous attendance figures for this year's edition of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival could have been avoided had Mayhem organizers managed to secure a bigger band than SLAYER to headline the traveling festival.
The 2015 Mayhem Festival generated controversy earlier in the summer after festival co-founder Kevin Lyman blamed the event's low ticket sales on the fact that metal has failed to produce new and younger headlining bands, adding that "metal got gray, bald and fat" and "chased girls away." SLAYER guitarist Kerry King responded by saying that the problem with this summer's event lay not so much with the metal bands themselves but with the way the festival was organized. He told Metal Insider: "Do I know this tour wasn't booked correctly? Absolutely I know this tour wasn't booked correctly. [Fellow SLAYER guitarist] Gary Holt made the comment that usually there's the main stage, a second stage, a third stage, and then that piece-of-shit record stage… Now what they're calling a second stage is at best a fourth stage and they're wondering why people aren't showing up." He continued: "It's easy to fill these stages, but I guess they wanted a different price point, take away the second and third stage which I think had a lot of value. To me, a second-stage headliner is ANTHRAX, MACHINE HEAD…"
Asked in a brand new interview with Metalshop TV why he thinks European heavy metal festival have managed to thrive and continue to be successful while U.S. festivals are seemingly struggling to stay afloat, Mazurkiewicz said (see video below): "It's really a different thing. Obviously, over here in Europe, you have these weekend festivals, and there's a lot of them. You don't really have that that much in the United States. You have the Maryland Deathfest, which is kind of the European way — a weekend thing, I guess. But, yeah, most of the U.S. tours that happen, say, during the summer are the things like the [Vans] Warped Tour or Mayhem, where they're traveling festivals that play every day in a different city."
He continued: "It's hard to really say. But, I mean, you've seen everything [and], I'm sure, read everything online [about this year's Mayhem festival]. We're doing the same thing — reading what we see. And, I mean, it just looks like this year, it wasn't strong enough to be… you know, to the masses. I mean, in the United States, metal is very big, of course, but, I think, having a band like SLAYER headline Mayhem, it seemed like it may be not the greatest idea. For us, it's great — SLAYER are our idols and our kings, so for them to headline Mayhem, to me, is, like, 'Wow! That's amazing. That's great.' But in the realistic whole scheme of popularity, maybe, and record sales and all that, it was a downsize, in a way."
Paul added: "When we played [mayhem] two years ago, we were with… AVENGED SEVENFOLD [were] headlining, and AVENGED SEVENFOLD are a huge band in America right now. So just for that reason alone, there should be more people coming to the show, wanting to see AVENGED SEVENFOLD. There was KORN as well, and you had a great whole secondary stage and all this kind of a thing. You know, it was downsized this year — you saw the lineup and everything — but, yeah, I think that was the big downfall. If they had a bigger band to headline, then maybe it would have been more successful."
This year's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival kicked off on June 26 in Chula Vista, California and wrapped on August 2 in Dallas, Texas. 8

In this episode, which was filmed on April 11 in Joliet, Illinois, Steve "Zetro" Souza, the vocalist for the legendary thrash metal band EXODUS, talks about his dream tour lineup.
Said Souza: "I think my dream tour would be… Oh, God, it would be AC/DC and THIN LIZZY, just 'cause those are the bands that I've been totally influenced by. And it would be so much fun to go out and see Angus [Young, AC/DC guitarist] just bang his head every single night."
He continued: "We've been very fortunate to play with a lot of our heroes, but that, to me, would be an ultimate dream tour."
EXODUS's latest album, "Blood In Blood Out", sold around 8,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 38 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released in North America on October 14, 2014 via Nuclear Blast, the CD art was illustrated by Swedish artist Pär Olofsson, known worldwide for his incredible renderings that have graced the covers of countless heavy metal albums, including EXODUS' "Let There Be Blood".
"Blood In Blood Out" is EXODUS' first album since the departure of the band's lead singer of nine years, Rob Dukes, and the return of Souza, who previously fronted EXODUS from 1986 to 1993 and from 2002 to 2004. 3

GREG TRIBBETT On Possibility Of New MUDVAYNE Album: 'Never Say Never'Guitarist Greg Tribbett hasn't ruled out making another album with MUDVAYNE, explaining that "it's just a matter of time" before the bandmembers' schedules align so that they can record the follow-up to 2009's self-titled CD.
It's been six years since MUDVAYNE released its fifth album and little has been heard about the band since then.
MUDVAYNE did not tour behind the effort, which was barely promoted and sold weakly upon release.
Asked if there is any chance of MUDVAYNE regrouping to record a new studio album, Tribbett told Metal Wani: "Well, like they say, never say never. We all talk. [Singer] Chad's [Gray] doing the HELLYEAH thing. We're doing this thing. It's just a matter of time, I think. But we'll see, man. It could happen in the future; that's all I can say about it. But, as I said, I'm gonna be [touring with] AUDIOTOPSY for the next couple of years, and I know Chad's doing another record with HELLYEAH. So we've still gotta wait a bit, man, but we'll see what happens."
HELLYEAH and MUDVAYNE singer Chad Gray told Songfacts in a recent interview that he doesn't know if the latter group will ever work together again. Asked if there was a chance for MUDVAYNE to come back to life, Gray said, "I don't know if the full band will. Who knows — they might be putting something else together. We were talking for a while and that whole Greg thing went down and everything kind of fell apart." "The Greg thing" was the departure of Tribbett from HELLYEAH in 2013. Gray called his connection with Tribbett "the only truly solid relationship in [MUDVAYNE], although Matt and I are still great, Ryan [Martinie, bass] and I still briefly talk. I mean, the only way I personally would want to do MUDVAYNE is if everybody licked their wounds and got over it."
Gray said that there were "a lot of things" that tore MUDVAYNE apart, adding, "Maybe MUDVAYNE was the martyr for people that stopped supporting music. You sell 159,000 records the first week, and then the next record is like, 'Whatever, fuck it.'"
Gray admitted to Revolver recently that Tribbett's exit from HELLYEAH "was like losing a great friend… He has always been my right-hand man."
In a late 2010 interview with the music blog Warwick, MUDVAYNE bassist Ryan Martinie discussed the group almost entirely in the past tense. When asked about the quartet's musical evolution, Martinie said, "I think that what we did is valuable. It's become a cog in the wheel of music in some sort of way. We are a piece of musical history now… We were always just responding to our environment. I always saw the band to be important as an aspect of my life, as something that was supposed to take us places that are positive, and in that sense everything that happened with the band has happened for a reason."
In addition to Tribbett, AUDIOTOPSY features in its ranks drummer Matt McDonough (MUDVAYNE), vocalist Billy Keeton (SKRAPE) and bassist Perry Stern. The band will release its debut album, "Natural Causes", on August 28 via Napalm. 1

MURDERDOLLS May Never Get Revisited, Says WEDNESDAY 13During a brand new interview with Music Mania's Clint Switzer, Wednesday 13 was asked once again if there is any chance of him and former SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison regrouping anytime soon to work on a new MURDERDOLLS studio album."I would say right now, no," he said (see video below). "But I also said that about the second [album], that I didn't think that it would ever happen. But, yeah, we had a good run with the first and the second album, and, unfortunately, it just didn't quite work out that last time, touring-wise, and we just stepped away from it, and that's kind of where it is. So I don't know if it will ever get revisited."
He continued: "I don't have any ill will towards Joey or anything like that. We made a fucking awesome record — I love that record — and, you know, that's the way it is. I feel like we went out on a high note. We came back out and did one more record for everybody to kind of seal the deal on it and kind of seal our fate at the same time."
Wednesday 13 added: "I tell people [when they ask me], 'What happened?' I go, 'Well, you see that 'Nowhere' video, where we just drive off a cliff? That's kind of what we did, so to speak.' So that was a good way for us to say, 'All right, that's where the MURDERDOLLS went: off a cliff and…' I don't know. Did we die? I don't know."
MURDERDOLLS issued its sophomore album, "Women And Children Last", in August 2010 via Roadrunner Records. The CD, which was recorded at a studio in Hollywood Hills, California with producer Chris "Zeuss" Harris (HATEBREED, SHADOWS FALL, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD), sold 8,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 43 on The Billboard 200 chart.
In an interview with the Classic 21 radio station at the 2013 edition of the Graspop Metal Meeting, Jordison — who played guitar for MURDERDOLLS — was asked if the band had officially come to an end. "Yeah. We're not doing anymore records," Joey replied. He elaborated in a separate interview with Metal Insider: "Nothing really happened [to cause the end of the MURDERDOLLS]. I really loved the last MURDERDOLLS record ['Women And Children Last']. It's just that, for me personally, I had enough of it, you know? I mean, it was fun but it's not where my heart lies in music. I lie more with drums and the more heavy and darker aspects of music. I need to push myself in different areas and I can't rely on the MURDERDOLLS to satisfy me artistically."
In a May 2012 interview, Wednesday was a little bit more optimistic about MURDERDOLLS' future, saying: "I love the band. It got me where I am. The last record we put out, 'Women And Children Last', it may be my favorite record I've ever put out — just because there was so much intensity in that record and just such a good time put into it. And if the band never happens again, we never do anything again, I know we went out on a high note with that record. And we got to do as much touring as we possibly could. Unfortunately, some stuff got cut short. But yeah, man, that was a big part of my life again, and if it happens again, it happens; and if it doesn't, it doesn't. I hate to say it's never gonna happen, and then you see another one of those 'reunion' tours. So I'll just leave it open." 6

COREY TAYLOR Says JAY WEINBERG And ALEX VENTURELLA Are Playing 'With' SLIPKNOT, But Are Not 'In' The BandScott Penfold of Loaded Radio recently conducted an interview with SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor. You can now listen to the chat at this location. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).
On the vibe within SLIPKNOT with new members Jay Weinberg (drums) and Alessandro "Vman" Venturella (bass):
Corey: "It's really good, man. The vibe is great. I can't say enough great things about those kids. They're so passionate about what they do. They still love the music just as much as we do. And they're absolutely dedicated to the pursuit of perfection. Not perfection itself, because you'll never [stop chasing] that thing, but the pursuit of it. And that's what this band is all about. It's all about making sure that you do everything in your ability to make sure that [you put on] the perfect show for whatever audience is in front of you. And plus, they're just great dudes — really, really good guys who I really genuinely love hanging out with. And you put all of that together, and it just feels like SLIPKNOT. It's really, really cool."
On whether people can now officially say that Jay Weinberg is the new drummer of SLIPKNOT:
Corey: "Well, he's the drummer with SLIPKNOT. Nobody gets in or out right now. But it's like I've always said, though… Everybody asks, 'Are they in the band?' And I keep telling [them] this: they're with the band; they're with us right now. That's because you're not given anything in this band — you earn everything in this band. So, you know, we'll see what happens in the next couple of years."
On SLIPKNOT possibly making a concept album next time around:
Corey: "Yeah, that's still something that we're talking about. And we're actually talking about taking it even further and maybe making it something that kind of fires on all the cylinders — almost like 'Purple Rain' or 'The Wall', where there's a narrative and a movie and music that goes along with it. So we're really talking about a very grand concept right now that can be really, really cool in the long run. But that's still a few years off in the distance. I've got a handful things that I'm doing, Clown's [Shawn Crahan, percussion] got stuff he's gonna do, Jim's [Root, guitar] got stuff he's gonna do. So, right now, we're just kind of putting the ideas into reality. And then we'll see what happens in a few years."
On SLIPKNOT possibly making a horror movie to go along with the upcoming concept album:
Corey: "It's something that we've always talked about — doing a movie, but what would it be? Obviously, everyone would think that it would be more horror than anything else, but at the same time, for us, it's more about the psychological thriller than it is the horror. This would be something to make you think, and it probably would scare you, but at the same time, it would absolutely be something dazzling and artistic, and hopefully fun. And I know that's a very strange concept, but it'd be something that people would really, really get into. So we're definitely thinking about an idea, and I've got some great ideas that I'm trying to flesh out in my head. But we'll see what happens."
On whether he keeps in contact with former SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison:
Corey: "I haven't talked to Joey since we parted ways. He hasn't reached out to me, I haven't reached out to him. It's just kind of there right now. I've said in the press and stuff that I wish him all the best. It's unfortunate that we had to part ways, but it was just the way things are right now. Could I see myself working with him in the future? I don't know, to be honest. I really don't know."
SLIPKNOT's "Summer's Last Stand" tour kicked off on July 24 in West Palm Beach, Florida, and will wrap up on September 5 in Dallas. 4

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's ADAM DUTKIEWICZ Rejoins CAPARISON GUITARSCaparison Guitars has welcomed Adam Dutkiewicz of Massachusetts metallers KILLSWITCH ENGAGE back into the family.
Many people who have caught KILLSWITCH ENGAGE during their recent tour have already seen Adam owning the stage with his new Angelus-M3B and TAT Special models. Caparison Guitars are also the only choice for Adam in the studio as KILLSWITCH work towards their new album release.
In a 2013 interview with Ultimate Guitar, Dutkiewicz was asked how he works out guitar parts with fellow KILLSWITCH axeman Joel Stroetzel. He responded: "We keep that pretty easy. It basically ends up being just whoever writes the parts to that song, they end up kind of doing them live. You know what I mean? It's that kind of situation."
Asked what goes through his head when he does a solo, Adam said: "It's pretty formulated, actually. I kinda don't wanna just make it all licks. It's good to have elements of melody and something that makes it a little bit more memorable instead of just, 'Well, check out my parts.' You know what I mean? Moreso like just kind of a musical interlude instead of, 'It's all about the guitar solo. Check it out.' Yeah, that and I'm not really that great of a player anyways. It's moreso just meant to be a break from the vocal onslaught, I suppose."
Founded in 1995, Caparison Guitars are hand crafted boutique instruments made in Japan and to the highest quality and specification. Their aim is to make the highest possible quality and best sounding guitars that you will ever play. 1

Moody was arrested for domestic violence in connection with that incident, but the charges were later dropped.

ROB ZOMBIE Shows How It's Done With Some Facebook TrollsDon't try crossing wits with Rob Zombie. That was the lesson learned by a couple of trolls who tested the rocker and filmmaker at his Facebook page over the weekend and ended up getting owned by Mr. Zombie.
According to The Pulse Of Radio, it all started when Zombie shared an interview and got some responses, including one from some brainiac who decided to comment on Zombie's appearance by saying, "When did you decide to become a hipster?" Zombie responded by taking a picture from the commenter's personal profile and adding, "Sir, you are in no position to discuss what is hip."
A second troublemaker came along and tried his luck, only with similar results. Asked if he borrowed his hat in the interview from his wife Sheri, Zombie posted that troll's profile photo and quipped, "I really don't think you need to be giving fashion advice. Just saying."
Zombie is currently off the road and editing his new horror film, "31", which is expected out later this year.
He recently told Louder Noise that his new studio album will probably come out next March, and that he intends to either shoot a series of videos or a movie to accompany its release. 1

DEEP PURPLE: 'Perfect Strangers' Performance Clip From '...To The Rising Sun (In Tokyo)'DEEP PURPLE has premiered the live clip of "Perfect Strangers" from their upcoming "...To The Rising Sun (In Tokyo)" release.
DEEP PURPLE will release two separate live albums, "From The Setting Sun… (In Wacken)" and "…To The Rising Sun (In Tokyo)", on 2CD+DVD, DVD, Blu-ray (Tokyo performance), Blu-ray 3D (Wacken performance) and 3LP Gatefold on September 18 via earMUSIC.
"From The Setting Sun… (In Wacken)" has been filmed by nine HD cameras at Wacken Open Air festival 2013. For the first time in DEEP PURPLE's history, the band will release a 3D version of their performance on Blu-ray, filmed at Wacken.
"…To The Rising Sun (In Tokyo)" has been filmed by twelve HD cameras at Nippon Budokan, Tokyo in April 2014. The audio of both shows has been mixed in Hamburg, Germany by Eike Freese and Alex Dietz (HEAVEN SHALL BURN) with the supervision of DEEP PURPLE bassist Roger Glover.
Says Glover: "One band, two crowds, two countries — a tale of two cities indeed. From Germany's Wacken Open Air festival, one of the biggest metal festivals in the world — and a city unto itself — to Japan and the stately Nippon Budokan, the most revered venue in Tokyo. Each with its own distinct personality.
"Wacken is a success story beyond par, starting out humbly by two friends in a field in rural Germany and becoming one of the best organized and attended metal festivals ever. We were most impressed by the facilities, security, backstage, camping… in fact the whole production was superb. As was the crowd, an awesome sight from the stage, generating a palpable sense of occasion. In the sunset, we were treated to a great welcome from the sea of tattoos and black leather facing us. "Festival crowds are unique because most people are there for the occasion itself rather than for any particular band. For us that is always a welcome challenge and a chance to connect with many who may never have seen us before. But the real stars are all in the audience. Thank you, Wacken. "By way of contrast, the Budokan is a temple of peace (except for the infamous occasion when all the seating was destroyed). 'Made In Japan' was partially recorded there and we've played there many times since. For such a large space, the acoustics are excellent; this special building never ceases to impress.
"On this particular evening, we came in at the back door, climbed the cool, marble staircase and entered the familiar dressing room. Feeling like we're the only people in the building, it's hard to believe there's even an audience out there.
"But there is, young and old, sitting patiently or chatting quietly — the embodiment of civility. It's almost like the respectful hush one might find in a cathedral. But they're here to rock. And rock they do. They may be quiet while they're waiting but far from shy during the show. They gave us an unforgettable evening. Thank you, Tokyo." 6

'Black Metal Street Performer' Featuring Comedian DAVE HILL (Video)Comedian Dave Hill recently headed to Times Square in New York City to school mofos on "Trve Norwegian Black Metal." A two-minute clip capturing the adventure can be seen below.
Hill last year co-starred alongside former PANTERA and current DOWN singer Philip Anselmo in the "Karate Kid"-inspired "Metal Grasshopper" web series, in which weenie-turned-metalhead Hill endures Anselmo's constant berating and ridiculous feats of metal strength.
"I met [Anselmo] years ago, which I wouldn't expect him to remember, and he didn't remember — he would've been at the peak of 'having a lot of fun' — but years ago I was backstage in Cleveland with him, and I was under the impression that most people are terrified of him," Hill told BestOfNewOrleans.com. "Even though he was very friendly and laughing, he's this guy who onstage screams his balls off."
Hill's previous metal-as-comedy stunts include "The Black Metal Dialogues", in which Hill had long email conversations with actual black metal musicians. Hill also is the author of 2012's "Tasteful Nudes: ... And Other Misguided Attempts At Personal Growth And Validation" and is the host and brain behind frequent Upright Citizens Brigade variety show "The Dave Hill Explosion" as well as WFMU's "The Goddam Dave Hill Show". Hill's band, the power-pop outfit VALLEY LODGE, provides the theme ("Go") for "Last Week Tonight With John Oliver" on HBO. 10

PAUL DI'ANNO 'Didn't Know How To Sing' When He Was In IRON MAIDENRock Bottom conducted an interview with former IRON MAIDEN singer Paul Di'Anno earlier this month in Argentina. You can now watch the chat below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).
On how he is doing with his health:
"I'm waiting for [knee] operations. But instead of sitting at home, I thought I might as well come and play still. As long as the fans don't care about me sitting down. I'll sit down and sing. Fuck it. They come to hear my voice, not to see me. We just played Wacken [Open Air festival]. [We] headlined the Friday night, [and] went down fantastic, sitting down. [We played] the Rock Hard [Festival], sitting down. The Brazil tour, sitting down. I can't do anything about it until the operation is next year… I don't have a choice. I have to sit down. I have no balance. My knees are both destroyed. I'm in a lot of pain, but fuck it. I'm no pussy, man. I spoke to Dave Grohl, and Dave Grohl, he broke his leg on stage, and he still keeps playing. So I can do the same. [It's] no big deal."
On his singing style in the IRON MAIDEN days:
"[When I was in] IRON MAIDEN, I was a young boy; I didn't know how to sing. I had no voice."
On how his voice has developed over the years:
"[I smoked] cigarettes, [drank] Jack Daniel's and [took] cocaine. I don't fuck around. I hate pussies who say, 'Oh, you have to have voice lessons.' Sorry, Bruce. But, you know, it's, like, bullshit. If you can't sing, don't sing. For maybe opera, you become trained. But for heavy metal and rock and roll, to be trained by a teacher? Fuck off."
Di'Anno recorded two classic albums with IRON MAIDEN before being replaced by Bruce Dickinson. He went on to front a number of other bands, including KILLERS and BATTLEZONE, and released several solo records.
ARCHITECTS OF CHAOZ, the new band featuring Di'Anno alongside members of Paul's longtime German touring backing group THE PHANTOMZ, released its debut album, "The League Of Shadows", in North America on July 24 via Metalville Records. 13

CHRIS CORNELL: 'Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart' Lyric Video Released; Complete 'Higher Truth' Album DetailsThe official lyric video for Chris Cornell's new single, called "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart", can be seen below. The clip was directed by Josh Graham and beautifully reflects the essence of the song.
"Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart" is the first track to be released from the SOUNDGARDEN singer's new solo album, "Higher Truth", which is set for release on September 18 via Universal Music Enterprises (UMe). The song opens with acoustic guitar and is said to be a far cry from the material that Cornell recorded on his last solo album, 2009's Timbaland-produced "Scream".
Starting today fans can pre-order the deluxe version of the highly anticipated album, which contains four bonus tracks. Produced by Brendan O'Brien (BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, PEARL JAM, NEIL YOUNG), "Higher Truth" showcases Cornell's constant evolution as a master songwriter, lyricist and musical craftsman — telling human stories, which transcend musical genres. Inspired by the stark arrangements of musicians like Nick Drake, Daniel Johnston and "White Album"-era THE BEATLES, Cornell creates a musical universe unlike anything he has done before. Fans who preorder the album on iTunes will receive "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart" as an instant download.
"Higher Truth" track listing: 01. Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart02. Dead Wishes03. Worried Moon04. Before We Disappear05. Through The Window06. Josephine07. Murderer Of Blue Skies08. Higher Truth09. Let Your Eyes Wander10. Only These Words11. Circling12. Our Time In The Universe Bonus tracks: 13. Bend In The Road14. Wrong Side15. Misery Chain16. Our Time In The Universe (Remix)
Cornell will embark on a solo acoustic tour of North America this fall, starting on September 20 in Los Angeles and winding down on November 2 in Austin, Texas.
While he plans to play songs from his entire career, including material from SOUNDGARDEN, TEMPLE OF THE DOG, AUDIOSLAVE and his other solo efforts. he told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that some tunes don't work in an acoustic setting. "There's certainly many, many songs that just don't really translate to an acoustic performance at all," he said. "One of the funny things is that the initial 'Spoonman' demo I did at home with an acoustic guitar, and yet it just doesn't really work as an acoustic song." 4

HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES Feat. ALICE COOPER, JOHNNY DEPP, JOE PERRY: First Shows AnnouncedAccording to RollingStone.com, HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES, the supergroup featuring Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper and Joe Perry, will play its first live shows in September. Rounding out the band's lineup will be former GUNS N' ROSES bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum.
The first HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES concerts will take place at the The Roxy in West Hollywood, California on September 16 and September 17. Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday via Ticketfly. HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES will also play in Brazil on September 24 as part of the Rock In Rio festival.
The HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES debut album will be released on September 11. The self-titled set, which was produced by Bob Ezrin, features appearances by Paul McCartney, Brian Johnson, Joe Walsh, Zak Starkey, Perry Farrell, Dave Grohl, Slash, Robbie Krieger, and Kip Winger, among others. All artist proceeds will be donated to MusiCares.
The project is a salute to Cooper's hard partying L.A. crew in 1973/1974, which included Keith Moon, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Harry Nilsson, and Micky Dolenz, among others. A plank of wood featuring the legendary musicians’ signature is immortalized at Hollywood's Rainbow Bar & Grill in the club's upper level, known as "Over The Rainbow."
In addition to new material, classics covered by the band includes THE WHO's "My Generation", BADFINGER's "Come And Get It", LED ZEPPELIN's "Whole Lotta Love", a medley of THE DOORS' "Five To One/Break On Through", John Lennon's "Cold Turkey", T. REX's "Jeepster", THE SMALL FACES' "Itchycoo Park" and Jimi Hendrix's "Manic Depression", among others.
Elton John lyricist Bernie Taupin wrote the album's liner notes and stated: "I'm not here to defend their vices. Over-indulgence of any sort does not ultimately constitute for a healthy mind and body. And while on the periphery of those involved, wives may have come and gone, career choices may have been deemed dubious, and heartbreak in some cases stalked a dark corridor, but in the lair of the Hollywood Vampires only joy and laughter reigned."
He went on to say: "I’m not completely sure what constituted bad behavior back then, but in this lair it existed in a bubble, a hermetically sealed dome of fun. It may not have been the round table at the Algonquin, but these were witty, intelligent guys who often got raucous and loud, but rest assured there were no bystanders or animals hurt in the making of the Hollywood Vampires."

Video Premiere: THE MURDER OF MY SWEET's 'The Awakening'Frontiers Music Srl will release "Beth Out Of Hell", the new album from the Swedish symphonic metal band THE MURDER OF MY SWEET, on August 21.
The official video for the "Beth Out Of Hell" song "The Awakening" can be seen below.
"Beth Out of Hell" is an apocalyptic love story where Lucifer's Daughter falls in love with the Archangel Michael," says THE MURDER OF MY SWEET singer Angelica Rylin. "The story in the new album basically takes off right where we left you with the last three songs of 'Bye Bye Lullabye'."
Adds THE MURDER OF MY SWEET drummer and producer Daniel Flores: "It took us three years to record this album, and the reason for that is that we wanted to give the fans an album they truly deserve. We made a conscious effort to keep all the songs very interesting and diverse, much like in a film or a musical."
THE MURDER OF MY SWEET released its debut album, "Divanity", in 2009 and received swift praise from media around the world. Much of the positive response was directed at the heavy orchestrations and Angelica Rylin's strong, soaring vocals. The CD's first single, "Bleed Me Dry", reached a peak position of No. 14 on the Swedish international singles chart. In the summer of both 2010 and 2011, the band toured in Sweden, France and Germany and played at festivals like Sweden Rock, Rock Weekend, Baltic Festival, Raismes Fest and Wacken Open Air. The darker Nordic months were spent in the studio where Flores and Rylin worked on the follow-up album, "Bye, Bye Lullaby", which was released in 2012.
Now THE MURDER OF MY SWEET is back with its most ambitious and exciting album to date. The CD is definitely darker and heavier compared to their previous two records, but still features the trademark over-the-top symphonic arrangements, cinematic elements and riffs the band is known for. This release also marks the debut of the band's new bass player, Patrik Janson (PLATITUDE).
"Beth Out of Hell" track listing:
01. Hell On Earth02. The Awakening03. World In Ashes04. Always The Fugitive05. Bitter Love06. Still07. Humble Servant08. Requiem For A Ghost09. Euthanasia10. Tide After Tide11. Poets By Default12. Heaven Succumb13. Means To An End

"We challenged ourselves to come up with something different for the viewer," says POP EVIL vocalist Leigh Kakaty. "Johan brought our vision to a whole new light, as it's reflected through this amazing piece of art."
"Footsteps" is taken from POP EVIL's new album, titled "Up", which will be released on August 21 via eOne Music. Recorded at Studio Litho, Robert Lang Studios and London Bridge Studios with producer Adam Kasper (PEARL JAM, SOUNDGARDEN, FOO FIGHTERS), the CD is "the sound of a rock band cementing a powerful identity that's steadily materialized over the course of three prior full-length slabs," according to a press release.
"Up" track listing:
01. Footsteps02. Core03. In Disarray04. Take It All05. Ghost Of Muskegon06. If Only For Now07. ...08. Ways to Get High09. Lux10. Vendetta11. Dead In The Water12. Seattle Rain13. Til Kingdom Come
"Up" is the highly anticipated follow-up to POP EVIL's previous LP, "Onyx", which was released in 2013. "Onyx" produced four Top 10 singles on the Active Rock chart, with three of them reaching Number One: "Trenches", "Deal With The Devil" and "Torn To Pieces".
Since "Onyx" was released, POP EVIL has played over 250 shows. Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival alongside GODSMACK, supporting STONE SOUR in the U.S. and FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH in Europe were just some of the highlights from last year. The band also made headlines with their memorable Rock On The Range festival performance in Columbus, Ohio. Not only did they perform "Trenches" with Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame member Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels, but the band brought 13 marines on stage showcasing the Lima Company Eyes of Freedom Memorial to stand behind them during the performance.
By the time 2014 came to a close, the band found their songs atop the year end charts at Billboard magazine. "Torn To Pieces" landed at #7 on the "Top Mainstream Rock Songs" while POP EVIL came in at #4 on the "Mainstream Rock Artists" chart.

CHASTAIN: 'We Bleed Metal' Album Artwork UnveiledThe new CHASTAIN album "We Bleed Metal" will be released worldwide on November 6. It will be made available on CD and vinyl as well as all digital formats. Guitarist David T. Chastain states: "This is a continuation of the 'Surrender To No One' sound with, hopefully, some improvements all the way around. [Singer] Leather [Leone] has never sounded better and I believe this is my most shredtastic CHASTAIN lead guitar playing since 'The 7th Of Never' era." Drummer Stian Kristoffersen (PAGAN'S MIND) and bassist Mike Skimmerhorn return once again to complete the lineup.
The "We Bleed Metal" cover artwork can be seen below.
The CHASTAIN albums "Surrender To No One" and "We Bleed Metal" will be released in vinyl format later in the year on Pure Steel Records.
The CHASTAIN classic albums "The 7th Of Never" and "The Voice Of The Cult" were recently reissued on CD by Divebomb/Tribunal Records. These reissues were nicely redone with new mastering, packaging, interviews, old reviews and more.
The "uncut" version of CHASTAIN's comeback album, "Surrender To No One", was made available on digital format on Leviathan worldwide.
The Leather-fronted version of CHASTAIN recorded five CDs in the mid-to-late 1980s: 1985's "Mystery Of Illusion", 1986's "Ruler Of The Wasteland", 1987's "The 7th Of Never", 1988's "The Voice Of The Cult" and 1990's "For Those Who Dare". After the "For Those Who Dare" tour, David and Leather amicably went their separate ways but kept in touch over the years before reuniting in 2013.
Leather in 2012 released the debut album from her SLEDGE LEATHER project, "Imagine Me Alive". The CD was inspired in 2010 when Leather called Sandy Sledge to collaborate on the Ronnie James Dio track "Egypt" for a demo tribute recording. Due to the overwhelming response for more material, SLEDGE LEATHER was born and performed at Germany's Keep It True festival in April 2011. 1

IRON MAIDEN's BRUCE DICKINSON Makes Emergency Landing After His Replica War Plane Runs Low On FuelAccording to The Bucks Herald, IRON MAIDEN lead singer Bruce Dickinson made a surprise landing at RAF Halton this week when his plane started to run low on fuel.
Dickinson was piloting a replica Fokker Dr1 triplane when he diverted his plane into Halton, which is said to be one of the largest Royal Air Force stations in the United Kingdom.
Squadron leader Gary Coleman, officer commanding operations squadron at RAF Halton, said: "We applaud Bruce Dickinson’s decision to divert to RAF Halton rather than press to his destination with potentially low fuel.
"To see such a well-regarded pilot, and world-renowned rock singer, make this decision is great for our student pilots to see.
"It makes them realise that anyone can find themselves low on fuel due to unforeseen circumstances and that the right decision is to divert.
"He really does have a magnificent Fokker Triplane, so it was a pleasure to provide it with a home for a few nights until we sent him on his way."
After the sad death of John Day, who owned and built this replica Fokker Dr1 aircraft, it was bought by Dickinson, who holds the coveted Air Transport Pilots' Licence and has around 7,000 flying hours under his belt.
Bruce said: "Aeroplanes started at the age of five with my godfather, in the RAF during the siege of Malta and one of 'Trenchard's apprentices.' My uncle was RAF and also an engineer.
"Until age 30 plastic aeroplanes and Biggles was as far as I got. Rubbish at maths and physics, I talked myself out of applying to the RAF and nearly joined the Army. Luckily for the U.K. military, I became a rock singer instead.
"I started actually flying at the ripe old age of 30. 7,000 hours later, I finished up as a Boeing 757 captain and 737 instructor.
"Luckily, the aircraft design I fly is still older than me, but the gap is closing.
"In my spare time, I sing a bit, own a company that fixes airliners and am trying to bring airships back into the skies. Actually, I should have been born in 1898, not 1958. C'est la vie." 10
