"Cassandra's Mirror", the new video from French symphonic/gothic metallers WHYZDOM, can be seen below. The song comes off the band's sophomore album, "Blind?", which was released on October 30 via Scarlet Records. According to a press release, the band "blends intricate orchestral parts (including all the subtleties of strings, winds, brass, classical percussions, piano, harp, etc.) and a real choir with the power of heavy metal. Through a coherence that hides the inherent complexity of this genre, Elvyne Lorient's passionate melodies immediately stick into your mind, conveying pure emotions right from the very first note she sings.

"The album title not only refers to the blindness of people towards what's happening around them, but also to the fact that we, as humans, often deliberately choose to be blind in many uncomfortable circumstances, which eventually lead us on the wrong path of life."

"Blind?" was produced by Vynce Leff, recorded and mixed in Paris at Powermania Studio and mastered by Mathieu Gillon and Vynce Leff at 120dB Studio. The stunning artwork is a collaboration between X-Nihilo Design, Les Créations Vultus and Florent Cuaz.

Cult Canadian metallers OVERLORD will be included on an upcoming METALLICA tribute album, "Puppet Masters - A Millennium Tribute to Metallica: 1983-2013", scheduled to be released later this year via Versailles Records. The selected song, "King Nothing", was recorded at Vyner Road Studio and engineered, mixed and produced by Elliott Sairan, who has previously worked with RUSH, TRIUMPH, Jeff Beck and Alice Cooper, among others.

OVERLORD is currently working on material for the follow-up to 2010's "Back Into The Dragon's Lair" (Heaven And Hell Records).

Guitarist/vocalist Matt Heafy of Florida metallers TRIVIUM performed a short solo acoustic set last Thursday, November 1 at the 2112 restaurant — which is co-owned by two members of the Swedish metal band IN FLAMES, Peter Iwers (bass) and Björn Gelotte (guitar) — in Gothenburg, Sweden. Among the tracks that he played were acoustic versions of OPETH's "Harvest" and IN FLAMES' "Dawn Of A New Day".

TRIVIUM's latest album, "In Waves", sold 22,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 13 on The Billboard 200 chart — the highest U.S. chart entry of the band's career. The effort followed up "The Crusade", which registered a first-week tally of 31,000 copies in October 2006 to enter the chart at No. 25.

Michigan's unstoppable sons of molten melodic death metal THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER have recruited drummer Alan Cassidy (ABIGAIL WILLIAMS) to sit behind the kit for the band's current trek with DETHKLOK, MACHINE HEAD and ALL THAT REMAINS. It is not presently clear if THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER's drummer of the past five years, Shannon Lucas, is officially out of the band or if he is merely sitting out the group's current tour.

Released on June 21, 2011 via Metal Blade Records, "Ritual" was described in a press release as "a collection of 12 tracks that see the band staying true to their sound and style while progressing in both writing and musicianship."

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE has tapped Dave Grohl (FOO FIGHTERS, NIRVANA, THEM CROOKED VULTURES) to play drums on the band's forthcoming sixth studio album.

Grohl stepped in to lay down the drums tracks on the record, which is expected in early 2013, following the departure of Joey Castillo.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE frontman Josh Homme broke the news of Castillo's exit from the band earlier tonight (Tuesday, November 6) during an appearance on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show.

Grohl previously played drums on QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's 2002 album "Songs For The Deaf". He also teamed with Homme and LED ZEPPELIN bassist John Paul Jones for the THEM CROOKED VULTURES project.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE will make its first-ever appearance at the U.K.'s Download festival next summer. The event will take place June 14-16, 2013 at Donington Park.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's fifth album, "Era Vulgaris", came out in June 2007 and entered the Billboard chart at No. 14.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE commemorated the reissue of its classic 1998 debut with a limited series of intimate shows at which the band played the record in its entirety, plus B-sides and other rarities and hits from the early QUEENS catalog up to the present.

The video is also in black and white, which reminds me of old PANTERA videos, which rules."

In other news, WHITECHAPEL's full-length debut, "The Somatic Defilement", will be re-released next spring via Metal Blade Records. Mark Lewis will remix and remaster the effort, which was originally issued on July 31, 2007 through Candlelight Records.

The new self-titled fourth album from WHITECHAPEL sold around 9,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 47 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous CD, "A New Era Of Corruption", opened with around 10,600 units back in June 2010 to land at No. 43.

"Whitechapel" was released on June 19 via Metal Blade Records. The CD was engineered and mixed by Mark Lewis (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, DEVILDRIVER), who also handled production duties alongside the band. The artwork was created by Aaron Marsh of Forefathers Group with art direction provided by WHITECHAPEL.

Kaaos TV conducted an interview with vocalist Tim Lambesis of San Diego metallers AS I LAY DYING after the band's November 2 concert at the Circus in Helsinki, Finland. You can now watch the chat below.

When asked for his memories of SUICIDE SILENCE singer Mitch Lucker, who died last week of injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash, Lambesis said, "Mitch and I have a lot of similarities. We grew up in the same area. We both have the same kind of dogs. He gave me very kind compliments on how when their band first started that I inspired him in some way or another, whether it be this type of stage performance he has or… I would assume more just the energy; the music sounds a bit different.

"Mitch and I connected on a lot of things, and it's really hard to think of [the] tour [AS I LAY DYING and SUICIDE SILENCE did together in Europe in late 2010]. It just seems like it was so recent, especially relative to our career; it was only a couple of years ago."

He continued, "I've been riding Harleys for four years or so, and Mitch more recently got into riding and started riding more. And again, [that was] another similarity and something we were able to [share]… As friends, it's good to have those things in common.

"When I get home from this tour, I usually look forward to getting home and getting on my motorcycle and just going for a drive. I don't know if I'm gonna really enjoy that the same way, you know?!"

AS I LAY DYING's sixth album, "Awakened", sold around 28,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 11 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released on September 25 via Metal Blade Records, the CD was produced by Bill Stevenson, who has played drums for both the DESCENDENTS and BLACK FLAG and is one of the most highly renowned producers in rock. His production credits include work on records by RISE AGAINST, NOFX, PROPAGANDHI, THE CASUALTIES, ANTI-FLAG and many more. The album was mixed by Colin Richardson (MACHINE HEAD, NAPALM DEATH, SLIPKNOT).

DEFTONES has tapped Christopher Mills (MODEST MOUSE, INTERPOL) to direct the video for "Tempest". The clip will make its online debut during the coming days.

Speaking to AOL's Noisecreep, DEFTONES frontman Chino Moreno stated about the songwriting process for "Koi No Yokan", "We were coming out of a tough time, obviously, and our goal was to kind of rebuild what we created over all the years. I felt like we had to prove ourselves. We'd taken so much time between records, had some inner turmoil, and our records were starting to get pieced together versus really being created together, so for us it was a chance to get back to basics. We didn't have an idea of what sort of style we wanted. We just came in fired up and motivated to do something great. It was all very positive. We had more songs than ever, tons of ideas."

The vinyl version of MANOWAR's twelfth studio album, "The Lord Of Steel", will be made available as a limited-edition double picture vinyl on January 8, 2013.

ANTHRAX has tapped former TESTAMENT/SLAYER and current ANIMETAL USA drummer Jon Dette (pictured below) to sit behind the kit for the veteran thrash metal band's current European tour as the support act for MOTÖRHEAD, which kicked off last night (Monday, November 5) in Wolverhampton, England. Dette is "kicking ass" as a temporary replacement for longtime ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante, who "is home taking care of personal stuff," according to ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian.

Said Dette: "I've been bestowed the great honor to fill in for Charlie while he takes care of some things back home."

Dette joined SLAYER in 1996 when Paul Bostaph left to work on his side project, THE TRUTH ABOUT SEAFOOD. Dette performed with SLAYER at the 1996 Ozzfest to promote the band's covers album, "Undisputed Attitude".

Prior to joining SLAYER, Dette appeared on TESTAMENT's "Live At The Fillmore" album, which came out in 1995.

Benante and his wife were arrested on July 27 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Elkhart, Indiana for domestic battery in front of a child. The drummer later issued a statement through his attorney claiming that he "was assaulted several times during an altercation that sent him to the emergency room with a gash at the back of his head that required several staples to close."

Charlie and ANTHRAX bassist Frank Bello (who is Benante's nephew) missed several shows on ANTHRAX's North American tour in February in order to spend time with Charlie's mother, who was terminally ill. On February 4, Benante informed fans via his official web site that his mother passed away.

More recently, Benante was forced to miss a number of shows on this past summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival while he was recovering from a minor hand injury. Filling in for him was SHADOWS FALL drummer Jason Bittner.

New York/New Jersey-based symphonic power metallers OPERATIKA ELEMENT (formerly OPERATIKA) have unveiled the cover artwork of their new single, "Haunting In The Night", to be released later this fall. It was created by Alexandra V Bach, who also designed OPERATIKA's album cover for "The Calling".

"Haunting In The Night" features a special guest appearance by Mike LePond (SYMPHONY X) on bass.

OPERATIKA ELEMENT's new full-length album will be issued in 2013.

Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Jeff Pilson (FOREIGNER, DOKKEN) and mixed by Jay Ruston (ANTHRAX, STONE SOUR), the effort consists of 11 tracks, ranging from adrenaline-pumping rockers ("Back From The Dead", "Own Worst Enemy", "Another Version Of The Truth") to arena-rock anthems ("Good To Be Bad", "Blown Away") to powerful, heartfelt ballads ("Waterfall", "Just Don't Ask"). The album features guest appearances by Adler's former GUNS N' ROSES bandmate Slash and ROB ZOMBIE/ex-MARILYN MANSON guitarist John 5.

ADLER is comprised of Steven Adler, frontman Jacob Bunton (LYNAM, MARS ELECTRIC), guitarist Lonny Paul (ADLER'S APPETITE), and bassist Johnny Martin (CHELSEA SMILES).

In a recent interview with Bloody-Disgusting.com, Bunton stated about "The One That You Hated", "That was actually the first song that me and Lonny wrote together, and the last song that we recorded. How it came about was we were just sitting in Lonny's living room with a couple of acoustic guitars, and I had the music and the verses, I just didn't have the chorus, and once it got to the chorus, Lonny just started singing 'I'm the one that you hated,' and I was like, 'That's it, that's awesome!' So it came together really naturally and really quick. And the funny thing is, it's the first single, but it's not like it's the best song on the record or anything like that. Literally, Steven was about to go into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and he said, 'You know, Slash has got his thing and Duff [McKagan] has got his thing, but nobody's heard anything from me for a long time. I would like my fans to know what I'm up to.' So, literally, we just pointed at a piece of paper with all of the songs that we had recorded on it, and went, 'Eeny meeny miny moe,' and that's the one that we picked. And we shot the video, and the cool thing about it is VH1 just added the video two weeks ago. So they've been playing it, which is very cool."

German death metallers DEFEATED SANITY have completed work on their full-length album, "Passages Into Deformity", for a February 5, 2013 release via Willowtip Records. The nine-track follow-up to 2010's "Chapters Of Repugnance" was recorded at Soundlodge Studios in Germany and includes guest vocal appearances by Frank Rini (INTERNAL BLEEDING), AJ Magana (ex-DEFEATED SANITY, DISGORGE), and Brian Forgue (SYPHILIC, GUTROT), with sound effects performed by Jon Engman (ex-BRODEQUIN).

"Passages Into Deformity" will be paired with a bonus DVD featuring making-of clips, interviews with the band, and performance videos.

1325 Commmonwealth Avenue is the building in Boston where it all began some 40 years ago for AEROSMITH, in an apartment where Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer lived and wrote songs together in the early '70s. It was where they planted the seed that would catapult them to become America's greatest rock band, with sales exceeding 150 million albums worldwide and induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

Today (Monday, November 5) at noon on the day before Election Day and the release of their new album "Music From Another Dimension!" (Columbia Records), AEROSMITH threw one helluva party for their dedicated fans and their beloved city of Boston. They urged fans to become a "Freedom Fighter" by voting and performed live right in front of the 1325 Commmonwealth Avenue building. Tens of thousands of cheering fans turned out, with the city closing the streets down and suspending trolley service in the area (since the trolley runs in front of the apartment). It was one of the biggest events ever in Boston.

The day began with the designation of 1325 Commmonwealth Avenue as a historic landmark, with a special commemorative plaque placed outside on the building. This honor was bestowed on the band by Boston Mayor Tom Menino and the city of Boston. To top it off, AEROSMITH will further leave their mark as their handprints are being placed in the sidewalk in front of the building. The significance of the event was underlined by the attendance of the New England Patriots President Jonathan Kraft, Patriots Tom Brady and Jerod Mayo, along with an array of Patriots cheerleaders.

The marker commemorating the "Aerosmith Apartment" is presented by the Music Museum Of New England as part of its Boston Music TrailTM, a series of markers at sites of musical significance around the city, made possible in part by a grant from the Music Drives Us Foundation. The mission of the Museum is to preserve, honor and showcase New England's musical heritage. It is building an online archive at mmone.org.

For their performance, which was exclusively broadcast live by AXS TV and will have an encore presentation of the event in full inprimetime at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 PM p.m., AEROSMITH jumped headlong into a set of eight songs including ones that the band played live and recorded on their first album while living at 1325 Commonwealth Avenue. Among the songs was "Movin' Out", from their 1973 self-titled debut album which Tyler and Perry wrote on a waterbed in the apartment. From the new album, the band fired up "Oh Yeah" and "Lover Alot". As they closed with their nugget "Train Kept A Rollin'", AEROSMITH showered the throng with patriotically themed red, white and blue confetti.

Steven Tyler: "To be living the dream in AEROSMITH for all these years is beyond humbling. But to return to where the dream was dreamt, is the dream come true full circle! To be honored at 1325 Commonwealth Avenue to shut down the street, invite all our friends, receive a plaque from the Mayor of Boston and put our hands in cement…just think it could have been our feet! It's the end and the beginning of a life long dream…dream on!"

Joe Perry: "Almost by luck and circumstance the band started here but I would have to say in hindsight after spending time in countless other cities around the world from Abu Dhabi to London, England, I still would have picked Boston to be the cradle of this band. It's still my home!"

Tom Hamilton: "When I was a teenager living way out in the country, I dreamed about moving to Boston and being in a band. Two months after graduating from high school I found myself living in this apartment with my bandmates. I drive past it every day and the dream is still with me."

Brad Whitford: "So many songs came to life at 1325 Commonwealth Ave. It will always be close to our hearts and souls. It is a true honor to have this historic plaque placed for people to enjoy and embrace the early days of this incredible journey — rock on!"

In a brand new interview with RollingStone.com, MOTÖRHEAD mainman Lemmy Kilmister spoke about Barack Obama's performance as the 44th president of the United States, the first African-American to win the office. "I would have said America wasn't ready for [a black president]," Lemmy said. "And I don't think they were, because they're trying to drag him down now. I mean, the poor fucker's only just gotten rid of all that George Bush shit that he left, or is trying to. And he's being stonewalled by the fucking Congress all the time. I don't know how he's gotten anything done. They should be glad. I mean the alternative is Mitt Romney. Please, please don't vote for Mitt Romney. Fuck him. Repeal abortion law is the first thing he'll do. Fucking monster."

Lemmy is British-born, but moved to Los Angeles in the early 1990s, with MOTÖRHEAD already approaching its tenth anniversary.

"Home is in here [tapping his temple]," Lemmy said in a 2005 interview. "Where you live is just a geographical preference. I like it [in Los Angeles] because the sun shines a lot and you don't get the cynical fucking English bitching about everything. I find the Americans quite refreshing. Everybody sneers at the 'Have a nice day' thing, but it's a lot nicer than having your change thrown at you. [I have been disappointed in England] since about 1964. It's never recognized any of its own talent, it's never done anything to promote anything but the status quo. It'll always be stuck with rotten politicians. England had a history once, but now it's got nothing."

W.A.S.P. frontman Blackie Lawless has penned a heartfelt tribute to his brother, who died last week.

According to the rocker, whose real name is Steven Duren, his brother Clifford was not only a "hero" to him during his younger years, but he was also the inspiration for the story on the band's "Crimson Idol" concept album.

Writing on his blog on the official W.A.S.P. web site, Lawless said, "We were playing in Tilburg [on November 2] and I got a phone call from my sister Brenda about 6 p.m. informing me that our brother had passed away.

"When we look at death we measure it in one or more stages of life. The death of a parent is the death of our past. The death of a spouse or mate is the death of the present. The death of a child is the death of the future, in that their future will now never happen.

"The death of my brother represents both the past and the present for me. Part of my childhood is now gone as well as the present.

"He was a mentor to me in my early years. Much of the advice he gave me I still use to this day. As a kid, I admired him more than he would ever know.

"Doing that show last night was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.

"When we were at the end of the 'Crimson Idol' part of the show, I looked up at one of the screens just as Jonathan was being laid on the bed. I could not control my emotions anymore and walked to the side of the stage and cried. (See video below around 9:16 mark.)

"My brother, in some ways, was in the story of the 'Idol' in the same ways, I guess, that all siblings compete for their parents attention.

"As a writer, we draw from all the things around us, so it's understandable that my relationship with him would be in the story to some degree. Me being the younger brother, it's natural to see the older brother as your hero.

"As a writer, I've tried to share myself with you all, even the intimate details of my life to give you a better understanding of who I am so you can better see the man behind the lyrics.

"The 'Idol' was ultimately a story about love. I write this to say if there is someone in your life you need to tell that you love them…. don't wait."

Original JUDAS PRIEST singer Al Atkins and Christian guitarist and music artist Paul May have come together once again to create a powerful new CD called "Valley Of Shadows", now available on Gonzo Multimedia. Here once again, the men from the "Black Country" industrial area in the Midlands of Great Britain have produced an album of outstanding quality straight from the "home of metal." This excellent collection of songs sees Atkins deliver some standout vocal performances and May shred the axe like the old guitar masters.

ATKINS MAY PROJECT's first CD, "Serpent's Kiss", was released last November via Gonzo Multimedia.

Atkins is the co-writer of several PRIEST songs which are included on the band's first two albums, "Rocka Rolla" and "Sad Wings of Destiny", both of which eventually went gold. Atkins co-penned the heavy metal classic "Victim of Changes", which was a combination of Rob Halford's song "Red Light Lady" and Atkins' own "Whiskey Woman". He also co-wrote "Winter", "Never Satisfied", "Dreamer Deceiver" and "Caviar and Meths".

In 1989 Atkins released his debut solo album, "Judgement Day", to great acclaim. But it was "Heavy Thoughts" and "Victim of Changes" (the latter being his collaborative album with ex-JUDAS PRIEST drummer Dave Holland) that brought him strong sales and critical acclaim around the world.

JUDAS PRIEST bassist Ian Hill penned the foreword to Al Atkins's autobiography, titled "Dawn of the Metal Gods: My Life in Judas Priest and Heavy Metal". The book, which was written with Neil Daniels — a freelance rock writer and heavy metal fan who befriended Atkins during the writing of Neil's book "The Story Of Judas Priest: Defenders Of The Faith" (Omnibus Press) — was released in 2009 via Iron Pages.

Portland, Oregon-based "melodic wondercore" act WHISPERS OF WONDER has inked a deal with Standby Records. The band's debut album will be released next year.

According to a press release, "WHISPERS OF WONDER have been growing a massive fan base in Portland and beyond since their inception less than a year ago. In this short time, they have captured the ears of many of the top record labels out today, before signing with Standby.

HELL OR HIGHWATER (formerly known as THE BLACK CLOUD COLLECTIVE), the new band led by ATREYU drummer/vocalist Brandon Saller, has inked a deal with Pavement Entertainment. The group's debut album, "Begin Again", which was originally released independently in August 2011, will be reissued with "bonus content" on January 22, 2013.

Pavement Entertainment CEO/President Mark Nawara states: "We are very excited to work with Brandon and HELL OR HIGHWATER. We are looking forward to pushing the single to radio and expanding on the fan base that the band has already built on their own."

For more than 15 years, Saller put his blood, sweat, and tears into the Southern California metalcore outfit ATREYU. The seasoned drummer/vocalist hammered out five studio LPs with four of his best friends, while traveling the globe and performing for legions of exuberant fans. Saller lived the dream of every musician: to bring the rock 'n' roll to the hungry, fervent masses. And with HELL OR HIGHWATER, Saller emerges from behind the drum kit, with the same unbridled passion, to ignite the next rock 'n' roll firestorm.

HELL OR HIGHWATER has been brewing for nerly three years, as Saller's songwriting drew inspiration from classic rock, doo-wop, punk and pop. Once armed with a solid collection of tunes, he unleashed his newfound vigor in a slew of gigs, and it felt totally natural. When ATREYU announced their hiatus in January 2011, Saller felt the timing was spot on to bring HELL OR HIGHWATER to the forefront.

"THE BLACK CLOUD COLLECTIVE was just a name. We felt that it didn't speak to, or represent the five of us. HELL OR HIGHWATER spoke to who we are as a band. HELL OR HIGHWATER is who we are," says Saller.

HELL OR HIGHWATER lineup came together through word of mouth and via good old-fashioned tryouts. Each member had crossed paths throughout their respective careers, but once guitarist Matt Pauling (THE CONFESSION), guitarist Neal Tiemann (MWK, DAVID COOK), bassist Joey Bradford (THIEVES AND LIARS), and drummer Captain Carl synced up with Saller, things just clicked.
