FLOOR JANSEN On Singing For NIGHTWISH:

FLOOR JANSEN On Singing For NIGHTWISH: 'You Cannot Imagine How Nervous I Was' Before First Show

Dutch singer Floor Jansen (REVAMP, ex-AFTER FOREVER) made her live debut as the frontwoman of NIGHTWISH this past Monday night (October 1) at Showbox Sodo in Seattle, Washington.

Jansen is filling the role of lead vocalist in NIGHTWISH on the band's current North American tour after the group parted ways with Anette Olzon over the weekend.

In a blog post on her official web site at FloorJansen.com, Floor had the following to say about the first couple of days of the tour:

"I am writing to you sitting here in the tour bus with NIGHTWISH! We are heading to San Francisco. The sun is shining bright here and the scenery is beautiful.

"I am trying to find words to describe how I feel, but it's impossible to really cover it. I am on a high!

"What do you do when NIGHTWISH asks you to join them on tour? Stay calm and say, well, OK…? Or does your heart start beating twice as fast instantly, hands start to sweat and your mouth is unwilling to pronounce words like, 'That sounds amazing.' I guess I don't need to tell what happened to me.

"The time to prepare was scarily short… I packed my bags and left and printed the lyrics into my head all the way over from Amsterdam to America. Fifteen hours of airplane later, I arrived with a jetlag, a full head and the most happy feeling ever. The next day I jumped on board on this bus and the adventure truly began. I was welcomed into the group as an old friend and I felt great instantly.

"It is now 10 years ago I joined NIGHTWISH on tour with AFTER FOREVER as their support act. We stayed in touch ever since and that made the whole situation so much easier and smooth.

"The day of the first show, we also did a long soundcheck to rehearse the songs. That was the only possibility. You cannot imagine how nervous I was before that first show started! Next to nerves, my voice was battered by a cold due to all the travels, lack of sleep and airco's.

"The intro started… I ran on stage… and all nerves were gone! The music and the guys took me in and so did the audience.

"What an experience! The excitement lasted the entire show, and way after. When I went to my tour bus bed that night, I still had a smile on my face. I felt so happy and satisfied I fell asleep instantly.

"The next morning I woke up — ahem — afternoon… in Portland. Show number two was there already. So were the first online reactions and the massive amount of press that responded to the news. You must be living under a stone if the news didn't reach you yet. I even did an interview with the Dutch radio, standing outside the venue in my stage outfit. With a nine-hour time difference… My cold got worse and the doctor had to give me some power supplies to help me. Thank goodness for that, they helped instantly and the second show was an amazing blast.

"The Crystal Hall in Portland is a beautiful venue and the atmosphere extraordinary! Again the audience welcomed me warmly! I am so grateful!!!

"Today [Wednesday, October 3] we'll play in San Fransisco! I always wanted to see this city so I hope there is some time (and energy) left for this!

"I will keep writing to you. And for those who came to the show: thank you for your support!"

A 22-minute compilation of fan-filmed clips of Tuesday night's NIGHTWISH concert (October 2) at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Oregon can be seen below.

Featured songs:

00:03 "Storytime"
03:17 "Wish I Had An Angel"
05:13 Floor Jansen introduction
05:47 "Dark Chest of Wonders"
08:28 "Amaranth"
09:14 "Scaretale"

NIGHTWISH stated about the sudden singer switch, "In recent times it has become increasingly obvious that the direction and the needs of the band were in conflict, and this has led to a division from which we cannot recover."

They added, "We are all strongly committed to this journey, this vehicle of spirit, and we are sure that this will lead to a brighter future for everyone.

"We forever remain excited about the adventures to come, and we are extremely proud of the two beautiful albums and the wonderful shows we shared together."

Olzon joined NIGHTWISH in 2007 as the replacement for Tarja Turunen after the latter was fired in 2005.

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME:

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME: 'The Parallax II: Future Sequence' Audio Samples Available

Audio samples of all the tracks that are set to appear on "The Parallax II: Future Sequence", the new album from progressive rock/cutting-edge metal innovators BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, can be stramed in the YouTube clip below. Due on October 9 via Metal Blade Records, the CD, which clocks in at approximately 72 minutes, features artwork from Charlotte, North Carolina artist and designer Chandler Owen (UNDEROATH, SHAI HULUD, HOPESFALL).

"The Parallax II: Future Sequence" was recorded at The Basement Studios in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with longtime friend of the band and producer Jamie King. Jamie engineered, mixed and mastered "The Parallax II: Future Sequence", which makes this the sixth release Jamie and BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME have worked together on.

"The Parallax II: Future Sequence" track listing:

01. Goodbye To Everything
02. Astral Body
03. Lay Your Ghosts to Rest
04. Autumn
05. Extremophile Elite
06. Parallax
07. The Black Box
08. Telos
09. Bloom
10. Melting City
11. Silent Flight Parliament
12. Goodbye to Everything Reprise

Regarding the concept of "The Parallax II: Future Sequence", the new full-length album picks up where the 2011 EP, "The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues", left off.

"The two main characters of the story take on a journey through space and time with the unenviable task of having to cure the flaws of humanity by any means necessary," comments guitarist Paul Waggoner. "While the EP served mostly as an introduction to the characters, 'Future Sequence' contains the action of the story. The lyrics are written in the stream of consciousness style, which really helps to capture the perspective and emotion of the characters. We really enjoyed the challenge of writing this record, and I think we were all pleasantly surprised with how well the music and lyrics jived with one another. I couldn't be happier with how 'Future Sequence' turned out."

Vocalist and keyboardist Tommy Rogers adds his thoughts on the musical direction of "The Parallax II: Future Sequence": "This album is BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME on steroids. I feel like we have created an album that perfectly mirrors the band we've been trying to create since day one. An album that has sounds that will stimulate many genres and music fans alike. A conceptual journey that takes the listener to worlds that seem familiar and worlds that make you scratch your head. From start to finish this is music we want to create, not music we think people want us to create. We create songs that keep us (and hopefully you) excited about heavy music. Keep listening… something new will be there each time. Enjoy the music… we enjoyed writing it."

The "Astral Body" video can be seen below. The clip, which was directed by Wes Richardson, is filled with extraterrestrial imagery climaxing in the explosion of a glacier and land mass as the sole character flies through space.

"The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues" (released in April 2011) is a three-song strong, 30-minute tour de force of modern heavy music. Produced and engineered by the Grammy award–winning David Bottrill (TOOL, MUSE, KING CRIMSON, DREAM THEATER) with BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, the record soared to No. 54 on The Billboard 200 chart in its first week of release while landing the No. 5 spot on the Hard Music chart, and No. 8 on the Independent Albums chart in its first week of release. "The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues" also debuted in Canada charting at Mo. 62 on the Top 200 Current chart, No. 6 on the Hard chart, and No. 14 on the Independent chart.

TOMAHAWK: New Single Available For Streaming

TOMAHAWK: New Single Available For Streaming

"Stone Letter", the new single from TOMAHAWK, the alt-rock super group featuring Duane Denison (THE JESUS LIZARD, UNSEMBLE), Mike Patton (FAITH NO MORE, FANTÔMAS), John Stanier (BATTLES, HELMET) and Trevor Dunn (MELVINS LITE, MR. BUNGLE), give fans an early listen to "Stone Letter", is available for streaming at Spin.com. The track comes off the band's new album, "Oddfellows", which is scheduled for release on January 29, 2013 via Ipecac.

"Stone Letter" will be released as a limited-edition seven-inch single on Record Store Day's Black Friday event on November 23. The track will also be made available digitally on December 4. The B-side will be an original etching by famed cartoonist and comics scholar Ivan Brunetti.

"Oddfellows" "is a full-on rock album," Dennison recently told Rolling Stone. "There's no quirky weirdness — it's very straightforward for us. There's almost like this weird, upbeat sound, what I call 'heavy pop,' and Patton totally got the vibe right away... really heavy BEACH BOYS."

The band's first live dates in nearly a decade kick off later this month with a half dozen performances including stops at the Voodoo Music Experience and Fun Fun Fun Fest.

TOMAHAWK has been dormant for the past five years after releasing a trio of albums: "Tomahawk" in 2001, "Mit Gas" in 2003 and "Anonymous" in 2007. The band last performed live in 2003.

NIGHTWISH Touring Musician TROY DONOCKLEY Says Split With ANETTE OLZON Was

NIGHTWISH Touring Musician TROY DONOCKLEY Says Split With ANETTE OLZON Was 'For The Best'

Troy Donockley (pictured below), the English composer and multi-instrumentalist who has collaborated with NIGHTWISH both on the road and in the studio, has issued the following update from the band's current North American tour:

"'Keep calm and carry on....' Oh yes, indeedy. These were the famous words written on 'morale-boosting' posters by the British government at the beginning of [World War II].

"Now, I am not for one moment suggesting that the first half of our U.S. tour has been like the outbreak of the war, but those words are pretty bloody pertinent!

"Oh, how we love touring the States. It's trite to say that the fans here are so brilliant (they are, of course), because the fans are brilliant EVERYWHERE. But they have been particularly lovely to us; especially in light of the recent explosive events.

"Yes, a split with the singer Anette [Olzon] occurred, but it was really, really for the best. Believe me. The joy of this adventure was being wrecked and everyone was feeling very insecure... It was seriously interfering with our tasting sessions of the fine wines from the Napa Valley. Outrageous!

"I mean, we never could have predicted that myself and Tuomas [Holopainen, NIGHTWISH keyboardist/mainman] would find ourselves on stage, alone, asking an audience of over 1,600 in Denver to vote by a show of hands on whether the band should perform or not [after Anette was taken ill]. Touchingly, we were met by a sea of upraised hands; beautiful, but how surreal...

"Anyway, we have fully embraced the slogan from that heroic old poster, and we are all feeling a squillion times better. Our replacement singer, Floor [Jansen], is simply majestic and we are having fearless fun. And on evidence of the ecstatic response to the last two shows, the fans seem to understand that this 'vehicle of spirit' cannot be derailed so easily...."

Troy Donockley has built up a formidable reputation as both a composer/arranger and as a multi-instrumental musician/performer. He is a leading virtuoso of the uilleann pipes (and the low whistle) and has performed and is known all over the world. His music, which has been described as "a peculiar brand of epic classical-folk-progressive fusion," can be heard in TV, media and movies (such as "Robin Hood" and "Ironclad") and through various commissions. Troy co-founded the BBC Award-nominated band THE BAD SHEPHERDS and as a producer/musician has recorded and toured with various artists such as NIGHTWISH, Maddy Prior, Barbara Dickson, Maire Brennan (Clannad), MIDGE URE, Iona, Roy Harper, Lesley Garrett, STATUS QUO, Del Amitri, Alan Stivell, MOSTLY AUTUMN and many, many more.

NEUROSIS: Another New Song Available For Streaming

NEUROSIS: Another New Song Available For Streaming

"Honor Found In Decay", the tenth studio album from NEUROSIS, will be released in North America on October 30 through the band's own Neurot Recordings.

"Honor Found In Decay" track listing:

01. We All Rage In Gold
02. At The Well
03. My Heart For Deliverance
04. Bleeding The Pigs
05. Casting Of The Ages
06. All Is Found... In Time
07. Raise The Dawn

The track "We All Rage In Gold" can now be streamed using the SoundCloud player below.

NEUROSIS forged the songs on "Honor Found In Decay" with the revered Steve Albini, marking their fifth collaboration with the engineer in their longstanding relationship. Their monolithic sound captured at Electrical Audio studios in Chicago, the seven tracks were then mastered by John Golden at Golden Mastering in Ventura, California.

Aesthetics have always been paramount for NEUROSIS and with "Honor Found In Decay", Steve Von Till, Scott Kelly, Noah Landis, Jason Roeder and Dave Edwardson's musical vision is brilliantly evoked by NEUROSIS's visual guru Josh Graham.

In a recent interview with The Quietus, Von Till revealed that with "Honor Found In Decay", NEUROSIS has "Found new ways to be heavy," saying, "The emotions that our music needs to put forth are always going to be heavy, whether it be mellow, subdued or tranquil, in volume or in atmosphere; it's always got to be emotionally heavy."

He added, "I think that's what we gained on this record, we gained an increased sense of flow; new ways to contrast dissonance and melody, harmony and disharmony. I always see our evolution as spiralling inward towards a core; we're constantly getting purer and purer; to the essence of what our music is supposed to be."

Asked about the five-year gap between NEUROSIS's new album and its predecessor, Von Till said, "Maybe we deal with more of a glacial concept of time. For us it doesn't seem like that long. I mean, we've been together for 27 years now and [the album] just happened when it was right for it to happen; the whole 'Given To The Rising' time period doesn't feel that long ago to me."

He continued, "We don't have any kind of schedule hovering over us and it was a couple of years ago when we were finally like, 'Okay, it's time to start getting it together,' and that some of our seeds were starting to grow."

NEUROSIS has been invited to perform at ATP's Nightmare Before Christmas at Camber Sands Holiday Camp, England on November 30 through December 2, which Steve Albini's band SHELLAC has been asked to curate.

NEUROSIS is:

Scott Kelly - Vocals/Guitars
Steve Von Till - Vocals/Guitars
Dave Edwardson - Bass
Jason Roeder - Drums
Noah Landis - Keyboards
Josh Graham - Visual Effects, Art

"Pioneer Of British Rock Guitar" BIG JIM SULLIVAN Passes

"Pioneer Of British Rock Guitar" BIG JIM SULLIVAN Passes

According to the blog Darker Than Blue, the "unsung pioneer of British rock guitar" Big Jim Sullivan passed away earlier today (October 2nd). Sullivan impacted on the Deep Purple story when at the age of 16 he began giving guitar lessons from the front room of his London home. Blackmore was an early visitor. “Richie was a precocious talent even then," said Sullivan. And "he learned to be an individual very quickly. To be truthful I think that telling him to be an individual and making him use his little finger is all I needed to tell him. The rest was natural to him.”
Sullivan later teamed up with Deep Purple producer Derek Lawrence to begin their own record label, Retreat, and wrote and produced a load of records, including US glam metal outfit ANGEL and the 1971 studio project GREEN BULLFROG, where the musicians - including Blackmore and Ian Paice - were billed under pseudonyms.

Sullivan also had connections with LED ZEPPELIN, reportedly lending Jimmy Page the acoustic used on their third album. He recalled leaving one eventful meeting with the band. “As I walked out, on the carpet there was foam about this deep and a naked girl goes sliding past. And then another one. Followed by John Paul Jones and John Bonham.”

BLACK VEIL BRIDES Tap Artist RICHARD VILLA For New Album Cover

BLACK VEIL BRIDES Tap Artist RICHARD VILLA For New Album Cover

Los Angeles theatrical rockers BLACK VEIL BRIDES have tapped their longtime friend, artist Richard Villa, to create the artwork for the band's third album.

The group was assisted by GOLDFINGER's John "Feldy" Feldmann during the tracking sessions for the CD, which is tentatively due in January 2013.

BLACK VEIL BRIDES frontman Andy Biersack previously stated about the band's new effort, "I'm so happy, excited and proud of this album!" He added, "Thank you, [Feldy] for helping us to create something we are all so proud of! This entire record is a dream come true!!"

Biersack told NME earlier this summer that the follow-up to "Set The World On Fire" was going to be "more of a punk rock record than anything we've done before. It's SOCIAL DISTORTION meets METALLICA." Biersack also confirmed that the album has a title, but declined to reveal it, explaining, "Of course we've got a title. I don't do anything unless I think about it six months in advance. We've got a title, we've got a story. It's a bit of concept record, there's a very serious story behind it. It's full of surprises."

BLACK VEIL BRIDES' new song, "Unbroken", appeared on the soundtrack to this year's movie, "Marvel's The Avengers". "Unbroken" is included on "Avengers Assemble", a 14-track compilation of music from and inspired by the film. "Avengers Assemble" was released on May 1.

BLACK VEIL BRIDES' latest EP, "Rebels", was released last December, exclusively through iTunes.

The CD will be released in a standard version as well as a deluxe edition which will feature five acoustic songs from "Reborn" as well as the never-before-released fan favorite "Avelyn".

"Reborn" was produced by TRAPT vocalist Chris Taylor Brown and Matt Thorne, known for his work with THE EELS, THE DONNAS and BONNIE MCKEE.

"With 'Reborn', we really wanted to use new sounds and textures as well as experiment with delays, reverbs, synths and many other techniques we have learned over the years or have heard in our influences. Lyrically, this album is as deep and thoughtful as any album that TRAPT has done in the past."

From the opening note of the first single, "Bring It", to the album closer, "You're No Angel", it is clear TRAPT is back to pick up where previous hits such as "Headstrong", "Echo" and "Who's Going Home With You Tonight?" left off.

"Bring It" impacts radio the week of October 1 and was also just released to iTunes in double single format bundled alongside "Love Hate Relationship". A video for the first single was recently shot in Las Vegas and will be released in the next few weeks.

T&N Featuring Three Quarters Of DOKKEN

T&N Featuring Three Quarters Of DOKKEN's Classic Lineup: Two Songs Available For Streaming

Rat Pak Records has set an October 31 release date for "Slave To The Empire", the debut album from T&N (formerly TOOTH AND NAIL), the new project featuring current and former members of DOKKEN: George Lynch, Jeff Pilson (bass) and Mick Brown (drums).

"Slave To The Empire" contains eight new original songs and four re-recorded classic DOKKEN songs that feature sensational vocal performances by Tim "Ripper" Owens (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH, DIO DISCIPLES), Doug Pinnick (KING'S X), Sebastian Bach (SKID ROW) and Robert Mason (WARRANT, LYNCH MOB). The drum tracks on the new, original compositions were laid down by Brian Tichy (WHITESNAKE, FOREIGNER).

"Slave To The Empire" track listing:

01. Slave To The Empire
02. Sweet Unknown
03. Tooth And Nail (feat. Doug Pinnick)
04. It's Not Love (feat. Robert Mason)
05. Rhythm Of The Soul
06. When Eagles Die
07. Into The Fire (Jeff Pilson)
08. Alone Again (feat. Sebastian Bach)
09. Mind Control
10. Kiss Of Death (feat. Tim "Ripper" Owens)
11. Jesus Train
12. Access Denied

The songs "Tooth And Nail" and "Access Denied" are available for streaming below.

In a recent interview with Guitar International, Lynch stated about T&N, "We actually did two records. The first one, which will be released in September, and then the band will go out on the road at the beginning of October. We'll do a short West Coast tour, then play Loud Park festival in Japan as well as visit a few other Asian cities before heading to Europe for a couple weeks. Then it's back to the States and we will finish up before Christmas."

Earlier in the year, T&N was forced to shorten its name from TOOTH AND NAIL for legal reasons. The band stated, "We cannot keep [the name] as TOOTH AND NAIL as there is a label that has it trademarked. [Fans] can still call us TO$%H AND NA$L... We can't."

Regarding how T&N came together, Pilson said in an August 2011 interview, "The DOKKEN [original lineup] reunion has been scrapped, and I take a lot of the initial responsibility for that because of my schedule and commitment to FOREIGNER. . . Then George asked me about working with him on the next LYNCH MOB record — and I jumped at the chance. He and I started writing, got into a groove and wrote an album's worth of stuff, all with the intention of Oni [Logan, LYNCH MOB singer] writing lyrics and it being their next record. Brian Tichy laid down some incredible drums at his studio (and co-wrote some music on one track) and we had an incredibly strong start. Then Oni just wasn't feeling the music as being LYNCH MOB, so it was shelved. We figured it'd be the start of another LYNCH/PILSON record some day. Then, actually, it was Brian who had the idea that Mick, George and I should do a band, similar to what HEAVEN & HELL was to BLACK SABBATH, and call it TOOTH AND NAIL. Because of everything else we have going, it'll be just a recording project at first, but sure sounds fun. We'd record the classics keeping true to the originals but make them fresh and organic. Then the idea of doing new songs came up, and it grew from there."

He added, "I have absolute belief that the music George and I make together (along with Brian Tichy in this case) is real and inspired, and that's what it's really all about. So out of a mess of a reunion attempt, I think we'll end up with a really fabulous record, and what could be better than that?"

When asked if T&N is basically DOKKEN without Don, Pilson said, "Don is, and will always be, the singer of DOKKEN and an invaluable part of the DOKKEN chemistry. No one ever wants to take that away or dispute it one iota. But the three of us do have time tested amazing chemistry, and because we were writers on these songs, I feel we have a lot to express. If anything I think this will be a show of respect for Don, not some kind of competition. I only hope people enjoy it in the spirit for which it's intended . . . Don't think of this as DOKKEN without Don... that's misleading. Think of it as a band with great chemistry coming up with new music that excites them, and also paying tribute to DOKKEN — music which the members all are heavily invested in emotionally."

LED ZEPPELIN:

LED ZEPPELIN: 'Celebration Day' Widget Available

LED ZEPPELIN has announced upcoming premieres in four countries for "Celebration Day", which documents the band's 2007 concert at London, England's O2 Arena.

The film will make its U.S. debut at the historic Ziegfeld Theater in New York's theater district on October 9. Prior to the premiere, founding members John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page, and Robert Plant will be joined by Jason Bonham, the son of their late drummer John Bonham, for a press conference at New York's Museum of Modern Art.

"Celebration Day" will then have its U.K. premiere at London's legendary Hammersmith Apollo on October 12. Jones, Page, and Plant will also be attendance for this special event and a limited number of tickets will be made available to fans for £20.

Premieres for the film will follow in Berlin on October 15, where Jones is confirmed to attend, and Tokyo on October 16, which will have Page in attendance.

LED ZEPPELIN took the stage at London's O2 Arena on December 10, 2007 to headline a tribute concert for dear friend and Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. What followed was a two-hour-plus tour de force of the band's signature blues-infused rock 'n' roll that instantly became part of the legend of LED ZEPPELIN. Although 20 million people applied for tickets, the band's first headline show in 27 years was seen only by the 18,000 ticket holders who were fortunate enough to have secured seats through the worldwide lottery.

The film of "Celebration Day" will see a worldwide theatrical release by Omniverse Vision on 1,500 screens in over 40 territories on October 17. Tickets for the public screenings are available now via LedZeppelin.com.

"Celebration Day" will then be available in multiple video and audio formats on November 19 from Swan Song/Atlantic Records. Available for pre-order now, the details on all configurations of "Celebration Day" are listed below.

* Standard Editions – 1-DVD/2-CD set and 1-Blu-ray/2-CD set
* Deluxe Editions – 2-DVD/2-CD set and 1-Blu-ray/1-DVD/2-CD set featuring exclusive bonus video content including the Shepperton rehearsals, and BBC news footage.
* Music Only CD Edition – 2-CD set
* Music Only Blu-ray Audio Edition – Blu-ray Audio release featuring high-resolution 48K 24 bit PCM stereo and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound audio only, no video
* Vinyl Edition – 3 LPs, 180-gram, audiophile quality vinyl (Available December 11)
* Digital Edition – Audio will be available at all digital retail outlets

A "Celebration Day" widget is available below.

LED ZEPPELIN met with the press on September 21 in London to launch "Celebration Day". The band was adamant about not addressing any reunion rumors — despite the fact that they were promoting a film of their last reunion. When asked if the band would be performing together again, Jimmy Page told a reporter: "Let me ask you a question. Have you seen the film? Did you enjoy it? Then we've done our job, haven't we?" When asked if ZEPPELIN would "do it again," Plant cracked: "With you?"

Page told the press that he was thrilled with Jason Bonham's performance filling in for his late father, John Bonham, saying, "Jason was absolutely monumental. From the very first rehearsal right through to the O2." Plant added: "It was appropriate and it was wonderful and also his vigor was so fantastic too. He drove us, y'know? It was peculiar and strange at times, but at the same time it was very rewarding for all of us."

Plant went on to talk about the band's relationship these days: "We don't see each other too often, but we've just spent about an hour together. . .and no sooner we start talking, than some little innuendo creeps in. It's just what happens when you've spent a lot of time together."

When asked why it took five years for the 2007 reunion concert to see the light of day, John Paul Jones joked: "Five years is like five minutes in ZEPPELIN time."

DEICIDE Drummer Contributing To Hardcore Project Featuring CANNIBAL CORPSE, Ex-TERROR Members

DEICIDE Drummer Contributing To Hardcore Project Featuring CANNIBAL CORPSE, Ex-TERROR Members

Veteran death metal drummer Steve Asheim (DEICIDE, ORDER OF ENNEAD) recently entered Deg Entertainment Studios in St Petersburg, Florida to lay down drums on a song for an upcoming New York hardcore-style project featuring guitarists Rob Barrett (CANNIBAL CORPSE) and Doug Weber (ex-TERROR) and drummer J.C. Dwyer (RAPED APE). More details on the project will be released soon.

With a carrer spanning over 25 years, Asheim has played drums on a combined 16 international releases, completed over 80 international tours and is showing no signs of slowing down with a new DEICIDE release slated for 2013.

"[While] DEICIDE is my main focus, it leaves me with a lot of time off between tours," said Steve. "I am not complaining, but I would like to expand into other areas with my career in this time off. In the past I have experimented with my side project ORDER OF ENNEAD, done some drum clinics and some session work here and there. This was all really cool and a great experience. I would like to keep my hands and my mind busy and continue to focus in these areas when I have down time. Currently, I am working on new material for DEICIDE, ORDER OF ENNEAD and some DEI-gigs coming too. You know the drill."

MARTY FRIEDMAN

MARTY FRIEDMAN's 'Tokyo Jukebox Vols. 1 & 2' To Receive U.S. Release In November

After reissuing three acclaimed recent studio albums by legendary hard rock/heavy metal guitarist Marty Friedman over the summer, Prosthetic Records is excited to now introduce North American audiences to the former MEGADETH and CACOPHONY axeman's two "Tokyo Jukebox" albums. Released in Japan in 2009 and 2011, respectively, "Tokyo Jukebox" and "Tokyo Jukebox 2" — the ninth and eleventh chapters in Friedman's influential solo discography — will make their U.S. debuts on November 20 as a limited-edition, specially priced 2CD release featuring artwork exclusive to this pressing and new liner notes by Friedman himself. The double album is now available for pre-order.

Soon after leaving MEGADETH following a 10-year run in which the iconic band sold some 10 million albums worldwide, Friedman — perhaps the most revered lead guitarist in thrash metal history — moved to Japan, where over the past decade he became a household name. Between his solo releases and collaborations with Japanese stars, he has played on and written numerous Top 10 hits (including two No. 1s); he has also made hundreds of appearances on mainstream Japanese television and performed at legendary venues such as Budokan and the Tokyo Dome.

"Tokyo Jukebox" and "Tokyo Jukebox 2" feature energetic instrumental covers of Japanese pop (J-Pop) songs that can be enjoyed by anyone with a sweet tooth for melody, and capture Friedman's passion for the music of his adopted home country — although, as he warns in the liner notes for this release, "I took the liberty of destroying and reconstructing them my own way." In the below video (which has been posted at Prosthetic's newly-launched Friedman mini-site, where additional "Tokyo Jukebox"-related videos will be unveiled in the coming weeks), Friedman further describes the collection, calling it some of the heaviest and best work of his career.

Featuring Jeremy Colson (STEVE VAI, BILLY IDOL) on drums, "Tokyo Jukebox" features reconstructed covers of J-Pop and J-Rock hits selected by readers of Japan's top entertainment magazine. "Tokyo Jukebox 2", meanwhile, was recorded in Los Angeles at The Village (AEROSMITH, KISS), and features guest performances by Jason Bittner (SHADOWS FALL) and Keshav Dhar (SKYHARBOR). The albums feature tracks originally performed by acclaimed Japanese acts such as MR. CHILDREN, SMAP, PERFUME and MAXIMUM THE HORMONE.

FLOOR JANSEN Says She Was Already Preparing To Join NIGHTWISH On Tour In November

FLOOR JANSEN Says She Was Already Preparing To Join NIGHTWISH On Tour In November

New NIGHTWISH touring singer Floor Jansen has revealed that she was originally asked to join the band for their upcoming dates in November, December and January but that plans changed over the weekend following the sudden departure of Anette Olzon in the middle of the group's North American tour.

During an October 2 interview with the "Giel Beelen" show on the Dutch radio station 3FM, Floor said, "Saturday morning [September 29] I got a text message saying, 'How fast can you come to the USA?' So I packed everything as quickly as I could and booked a ticket for the first plane and practiced the songs. They had already previously asked me to join them on the road for the dates in November, December and January, [so] I had been preparing for it a little bit for only one week. And since those plans changed [over the weekend], I ended up only having a few days to get ready and a rehearsal of two hours with [the songs'] lyrics in front of me."

Jansen, who called the opportunity to sing for NIGHTWISH a "dream come true," also confirmed that she will be on the road with the band through the end of January.

Asked if fans can also expect to hear her on NIGHTWISH's next studio album, Floor said, "There has been no discussion about that at this point. Right now, the plans is just for me to be a temporary replacement for Anette. All is I know is that it is really an awesome opportunity for me and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it and we'll see what the future brings."

In announcing the sudden singer switch on Monday (October 1), NIGHTWISH said, "In recent times it has become increasingly obvious that the direction and the needs of the band were in conflict, and this has led to a division from which we cannot recover."

TESSERACT: New Song

TESSERACT: New Song 'Nocturne' Available For Streaming

"Nocturne", a brand new song from U.K. progressive metallers TESSERACT, can be streamed using the SoundCloud player below. The track marks the recording debut of the band's new lead singer, Ashe O'Hara, following the departure of American vocalist Elliot Coleman (OMNOM, SKY EATS AIRPLANE, ZELLIACK) in June.

"Nocturne" will be available as a free download and streaming everywhere on October 12.

Comments the band: "'Nocturne', is one of the most uplifting and exciting pieces of music we have created. It faithfully continues down the same vein of groovy and euphoric progressive soundscapes that we're known for. Whilst at the same time allowing for the musical evolution that is essential for any band that has a lineup change."

Hailing from Northampton, Ashe spent his early years singing in many different groups, from choirs to musical theatre, and has more recently been involved with a number of ambient/alternative metal projects in addition to doing session work. Ashe currently resides in Hove, East Sussex and is eagerly awaiting the upcoming tour and working on the new album.

Comments Ashe: "I have always been an admirer of their work so it's pretty awesome to be passed such a challenging flame. I am very aware of the anticipation and I am certainly feeling the weight of it, but I am equally excited for what shall be an amazing and shithot experience!"

Add the other members of TESSERACT: We realize that the vocalist search seemed like it took a long time, but we wanted to make sure that we found someone who was a perfect fit both on stage and in the studio and Ashe is just that. We very much appreciate the patience and support our fans have shown us and look forward to the next TESSERACT chapter."

TESSERACT recently picked up the "New Blood" award — as voted for by readers of Prog magazine — at last week's first-ever Progressive Music Awards in the U.K. and is preparing for a small run of dates through Europe.

Romanian Metallers GOODBYE TO GRAVITY Cover IRON MAIDEN Classic (Audio)

Romanian Metallers GOODBYE TO GRAVITY Cover IRON MAIDEN Classic (Audio)

Bucharest, Romania-based metallers GOODBYE TO GRAVITY have recorded a cover version of IRON MAIDEN's 1988 classic "The Evil That Men Do". Originally on MAIDEN's "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son" album, the song was reinterpreted in GOODBYE TO GRAVITY's own style and features modern twists like growls, massive riffs and down-tuned guitars.

GOODBYE TO GRAVITY's debut album, which is due out November 26 via Metalfan Records, was produced and mixed by Alex Pascu and was mastered by Jens Bogren (SOILWORK, OPETH, KREATOR).

The band played at this year's Summer Breeze open-air festival in Dinkelsbühl, Germany after being selected from over 2,000 unsigned bands from around the world for the yearly New Blood Award.

GOODBYE TO GRAVITY started as an unexpected mixture of former members from the heavy metal band THUNDERSTORM (which in their 10-plus years of activity opened for such heavyweights such as JUDAS PRIEST, MANOWAR, HELLOWEEN, RAGE and EVERGREY) and the winner of the 2008 national TV show "Megastar" (Romanian "American Idol" equivalent).

Is RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Working On New Album?

Is RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Working On New Album?

When approached by TMZ.com's crew and camera and asked if RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE was working on a new album, the band's bassist, Tim Commerford, replied, "Maybe." (See video below.)

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE released its last studio album, "Renegades", in 2000. The band disbanded that year and reunited in 2007, but despite playing a number of live shows has not recorded anything new.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello in 2010 dismissed as "inaccurate" a quote from the group's frontman Zack De la Rocha where the singer reportedly said that the chances of the band recording a new album are better now than they have been before. "There's no plans for that now," Morello said. "The band gets along great, we're playing some of the best shows of our career over the last couple of years, and no one is ruling out that... But as a band, I hope that we will continue to, at a minimum, play shows in the future."

Footage from HEART’s Performance On Live With Kelly And Michael Posted

HEART appeared on Live With Kelly And Michael today, October 2nd. Video of the sisters performing the track ‘Fanatic’ on the live stage can be seen below:

‘Fanatic’ comes off the band’s new album of the same name which was released today via Legacy Recordings, the catalogue division of Sony Music Entertainment.

The first album of new music from Ann and Nancy Wilson since 2010's Red Velvet Car, Fanatic was recorded in hotel rooms and studios up and down the West Coast, with Grammy-winning producer Ben Mink back at the helm with the Wilson sisters drawing from their own lives and personal experiences as inspiration for their music. 'Dear Old America' comes from memories of a military household and is written from the point of view of their father, a Marine Corps officer, returning from war ("When I get home, I'm going to own this town/Shine this medal/Wear that crown…."); 'Rock Deep (Vancouver)' harkens back to the city where Dreamboat Annie was written; and 'Walkin' Good' (a duet with Vancouver resident Sarah McLachlan) captures the joy of finding new life in a new love.

OBITUARY: Quality San Francisco Concert Footage

OBITUARY: Quality San Francisco Concert Footage

Quality video footage of OBITUARY's September 26 performance at DNA Lounge in San Francisco, California can be seen below (courtesy of Capital Chaos).

In an interview with Denmark's Metal Revolution, vocalist John Tardy was asked about OBITUARY's switch from Roadrunner Records to Candlelight Records and the band's current label status. "If it was up to us, we'd probably just be with the same record label all the time," he said. "Just like our music, me, Donald [Tardy, drums] and Trevor, we don't change much on how we do things, we're kinda stuck in the way we do things, but with Roadrunner we kinda felt like they kinda run the game and it got so big and started paying attention to other bands, and it didn't have the time or resources for us. And that's fine, whatever, we'll go some place else."

He continued, "Candlelight was one of the labels we looked at at the time, and they were willing to sign the agreement that we wanted signed. We kinda hung on to what we wanted and they just said yes to it. In those terms, they were good for us, but fact is that they are not a very big record label, and there were lots of things they were supposed to be doing that they wound up not doing.

"At the end of the day, I don't have any hard feelings towards Candlelight. Whatever happened, happened, but at the end of the day, we just don't feel like they did enough for us."

"The guys from Century Media actually came to Florida and visited us, and when we were on that last European tour they invited us over to their office on one of our off days and we hung out with them there. They are really a bunch of great guys, they really are into what they do, they really do like and care for their bands and do everything they can for them, so Century Media is gonna be a really good possibility for the next album of ours."

Regarding OBITUARY's plans for the next studio album, John said, "We took a few months off for the writing purposes and we just wound up doing more fishing and boating and stuff than the writing we were supposed to do, so the album we originally planned on, we really haven't done by now. It isn't anywhere near done. [laughs] The first three songs we finished are just absolutely awesome; I mean, they are just heavy and so cool, I'm really thrilled with the songs we've got. We've got most of the songs general ideas in place, but we do still have a lot of work to do.

"We're really not in any hurry to do it. It's not like we're sitting around saying, 'Oh my god, we didn't get the album done.' It doesn't really matter to us. It gets done when it gets done. After we get back from Europe and take a small break from all the touring, I'm sure we're gonna get back out here and start writing again and hopefully sometime, maybe around festival season, we can have that album finished up and think about some proper release date."
