Norwegian post-hardcore outfit BLOOD COMMAND will release its second album, "Funeral Beach", on October 29 via Fysisk Format.

BLOOD COMMAND guitarist Yngve produced the CD along with longtime collaborator Dag Erik "Dagger" Nygaard of Kamikaze Media AS. The recording was a painstakingly long, yet rewarding process. Yngve comments, "'Funeral Beach' is our greatest achievement to date. Rock 'n' roll with love, hate and irony, it's all in there."

According to a press release, "with 'Funeral Beach', BLOOD COMMAND have delivered their definitive statement. The new album is instantly catchy, but still gets better with every listen."

BLOOD COMMAND was formed in the fish-and-oil-smelling suburbs of western Norway in 2008 by singer Silje, guitarist Yngve and drummer Sigurd. They had one thing in mind: combining the hedonistic club music they loved to dance and party to with the music that formed their lives: punk, hardcore and rock and roll. The band gave everything from day one and quickly etablished an underground buzz around Europe through its tours with COMEBACK KID and PROTEST THE HERO.

To date, BLOOD COMMAND has released three 10-inch singles and an album that was nominated for a Spellemann award (the Norwegian equivalent to the Grammy Award) in the rock category (won by KVELERTAK) for their debut, "Ghostclocks" (Fysisk Format, 2010).

AUTOPSY has just released a new DVD, "Born Undead", via Peaceville Records. The set charts AUTOPSY's birth, death and rebirth with an extensive documentary conducted with the bandmembers themselves, as they describe how the beast came to be, and the impact their music has had on the metal world over a span of more than 20 years. The film also documents the band's long-awaited return to the studio and stage, and includes rehearsal footage of both new tracks and old classics for their live comeback assault. The trio of 2010 reunion shows are all featured here, with all the best classic tracks from Maryland Deathfest, Party.San Open Air festival and Hole In The Sky in Norway, where the trio of Chris Reifert, Eric Cutler and Danny Coralles was joined by Dan Lilker (NUCLEAR ASSAULT, BRUTAL TRUTH) on bass.

AUTOPSY is currently working on all new material for its next album, due out in 2013. The band states, "We can definitely promise more of what you would expect from AUTOPSY. There will be no compromise and no holding back. If you want 100% pure death metal brutality, you will certainly get it."

Boston metalcore band DIECAST has entered a Miami, Florida studio with longtime producer Paul Trust to begin recording its new album for a 2013 release.

The first in a series of video clips featuring behind-the-scenes footage from the studio can be seen below.

DIECAST parted ways with Century Media Records in 2008, two years after the release of the band's latest album, "Internal Revolution".

DIECAST greatly expanded its diehard fan base after completing two massive North American tours alongside SEVENDUST, in addition to breaking through to Active Rock radio with the "Fade Away" and "Nothing I Could Say" singles.

On August 24, Natalie of Natalie's World conducted an interview with vocalist Candace Kucsulain of the Detroit hardcore band WALLS OF JERICHO. You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below. A couple of excerpts follow.

On the break/hiatus that followed the release of WALLS OF JERICHO's latest album, 2008's "The American Dream":

Candace: "I got pregnant and had a baby. So we got back together about a year after I got pregnant. I got pregnant and had my baby, Patsy, on August 1 [of 2011], and the first tour we did after that was the Persistence Tour in January [of 2012]. So I didn't wanna leave until she was old enough for me to leave her. There was probably a lack of press… we just didn't have it out there that I got pregnant or anything. So no break, there was no hiatus. We never broke up. I just couldn't tour. Clearly, I couldn't play shows while I was pregnant."

On whether there are plans for WALLS OF JERICHO to release new music:

Candace: "There is plans. We've actually been writing. I'm just not exactly sure when things are gonna happen with it. But for a little while — probably since January or something, we started writing stuff. Our guitar player, Chris [Rawson], is in another band, so it kinds of makes it a little slower, the process, for us. Also, I live in Boston, Massachusetts, and the rest of the members live in Michigan and Ohio, so we're not exactly that close. We do everything over the Internet now. So it's just gonna take a little time."

"The American Dream" (Trustkill Records) sold around 2,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD debuted at No. 11 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"The American Dream" was recorded at Spider Studios in Cleveland, Ohio with Ben Schigel and Tony Gammalo.

WALLS OF JERICHO and Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR) collaborated on an EP entitled "Redemption". The CD, which was produced by Taylor, featured primarily melodic vocals and acoustic instruments.

Moloch, guitar player for Sumerian black/thrash kings MELECHESH, recently took part in a cooking show on iFood.tv

Commented Moloch: "You end up doing many weird things when you play in a metal band, and being part of a cooking show is definitively one of them. In any case, I decided to go for it because I enjoy cooking, and the show was being filmed in Richmond, which is pretty close to where i live. The dish I prepared (msakhan) is a typical near-Eastern dish, but my recipe is a user-friendly version. Is it metal? I don't know. Does it taste good? Fuck yes!"

In other news, after almost half a decade of research, Moloch recently received his Doctorate (PHD) in Political Science from the University Of Virginia and will leave the country to return to his origin, Jerusalem.

MELECHESH's 1996 debut album, "As Jerusalem Burns ... Al'Intisar", was recently made available on digital format (iTunes and others) for the first time since its release.

A three-minute video clip in which KAMELOT's female backing singer Elize Ryd reveals what she has "in her box" that she always keeps backstage at the band's concerts can be seen below.

"Sacrimony (Angel Of Afterlife)", the new single from KAMELOT, will be released on September 4. The track comes off the band's new album, "Silverthorn", which is due on October 30 in North America, October 26 in Germany and October 29 in the rest of Europe via Steamhammer/SPV. The CD will mark the band's first release with new singer Tommy Karevik, the 30-year-old Swede who previously fronted SEVENTH WONDER (a group that he is still a member of).

Karevik revealed in a recent interview that KAMELOT filmed a video for "Sacrimony (Angel Of Afterlife)" in Belgrade, Serbia. The clip, which features guest appearances by Elize Ryd (also of AMARANTHE) and Alissa White-Gluz (THE AGONIST), is expected to make its online debut in a few weeks. Alissa's cameo was filmed by Von Wong Photography at Studio Newreel in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The "Silverthorn" LP and limited edition will have one version of the cover artwork, while the standard version of "Silverthorn" will have a different but equally exquisite version. The standard version is presented as an Ecolbook. The limited edition contains the Ecolbook, a bonus CD with nearly 60 minutes of music, a 44-page book and an exclusive poster. The double LP version is a gatefold on colored vinyl and includes the CD.

"The British Invasion", the new concert DVD from Angeles glam-metal jokesters STEEL PANTHER, will be released in Australia and New Zealand on September 28 and in the rest of the world on October 22.

Shot in 2010 at a sold-out show in London, England's famed Brixton Academy, "The British Invasion" brings back the '80s in full force with a blistering set of their greatest hits. This DVD includes such favorite songs as "Asian Hooker", "Death To All But Metal" and "Community Property". The DVD was directed by Daniel E. Catullo III, who has previously worked with RUSH, CREED, GODSMACK, SMASHING PUMPKINS, CHICKENFOOT and ALTER BRIDGE and includes a hysterical behind-the-scenes documentary that is a must-see!

STEEL PANTHER's sophomore album, "Balls Out", sold nearly 12,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 40 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released on November 1, 2011 via Universal Republic Records, the follow-up to 2009's "Feel The Steel" contains 14 soon-to-be classics such as "Just Like Tiger Woods", "Gold Digging Whore" and "Weenie Ride". The album also features cameos by Dane Cook on the album opener "In The Future" and NICKELBACK frontman Chad Kroeger and EXTREME axeman Nuno Bettencourt show up on an instant classic "It Won't Suck Itself". "Balls Out" was produced by Grammy-nominated producer/mixer Jay Ruston who produced the band's "Feel The Steel" debut and is known for his work with ANTHRAX, MEAT LOAF, THE DONNAS and MORRISSEY, to name a few.

PHILM is the Los Angeles-based experimental post-hardcore triumvirate featuring drummer Dave Lombardo (SLAYER), guitarist/vocalist Gerry Nestler (CIVIL DEFIANCE), and bassist Pancho Tomaselli (WAR).

The band's debut album, "Harmonic", was released on May 15 via Ipecac Recordings.

"When people hear about my involvement in PHILM, they automatically assume that it will compare to SLAYER's sound," explained Lombardo. "They couldn't be more different. I have scaled down my drum set to a four-piece, reminiscent of the drummers from the late '60s that influenced me. Each song is unique in itself, I like to refer to it as 'rhythmic emotion.' It's almost like taking all the heavy songs of the '60s and bringing that era to a modern plateau, then blending them with the modern trance and psychedelic sounds of today."

"We decided to record 'Harmonic' in the intimate setting of a home, with various vintage recording equipment," added Lombardo on the band's debut album. "The music was written collectively in an improvisational manner, unlike the majority of recordings I've done before. This was very important given this is my first recording where I'm carrying the title of producer and performer. The album achieves a dense, unholy convergence of tones and discords. We also touch on haunting, desolate, ambient sounds. Our music tends to be written in a manner where we never know the outcome until we listen back to what we recorded. A harmonic journey."

Marq Torien (BULLETBOYS) and DJ Ashba (GUNS N' ROSES, SIXX: A.M.) joined SIN CITY SINNERS on stage at the Vegas Rocks! Magazine Music Awards 2012 after-party on June 26 at Club Vinyl inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada to perform a cover version of the ZZ TOP classic "Tush". The third annual Vegas Rocks! Magazine Music Awards rocked the Joint on Sunday, August 26 at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Vegas Rocks! Magazine celebrated its eighth anniversary in a big way as the rock 'n' roll royal red carpet was rolled out for some of the biggest stars in the music business.

Vegas Rocks! Magazine Awards was hosted by the "publishing queen of rock and roll," Sally Steele.

A member of METALLICA's road crew caught fire during the show, as the the stagehand was seen struggling with a malfunctioning pyro launcher during "Enter Sandman" when he was suddenly engulfed in flame. As James Hetfield called for the band to stop playing, other crew members doused the man with fire extinguishers and took him off the stage in stretchers, with the band resuming its show a few minutes later.

A spokesperson for METALLICA's concert promoter previously said the stunt was "all part of the show," and in fact the band has staged this type of "accident" before during its 1997 tour, on which the show ended with the stage seemingly collapsing around the group as one crew member caught fire and another dangled upside down from the fallen lighting rig. The effect was caught on the band's "Cunning Stunts" DVD.

METALLICA's recent show in Mexico City marked the debut of a new 140-foot-by-50-foot stage that features "colossal components and striking visual elements spanning the band's entire 30-year career," meaning that the "accident" stunt could be back for an encore.

At a July 28 press conference before the first show in Mexico City, frontman James Hetfield said that the band was focused on "staying alive" while performing alongside the "dangerous elements" of the new production, with bassist Robert Trujillo adding, "Like James said, it's very dangerous — we've got stuff flying every which way."

METALLICA played the Outside Lands festival in San Francisco earlier in the month and performed three shows in Vancouver, which were filmed for the band's upcoming 3D movie.

Sacramento, California-based alternative rock band DEFTONES has set a November 13 release date for its seventh studio album, entitled "Koi No Yokan". The group worked again with producer Nick Raskulinecz, who helmed 2010's "Diamond Eyes" and has also worked on albums by RUSH and FOO FIGHTERS.

"Koi no yokan" is Japanese for a feeling that is similar to (but not exactly the same as) love at first sight. It's the sense a person gets upon meeting someone, where they just "know" they are going to fall in love. It implies that future love is inevitable.

To support the CD, DEFTONES will hit the road on a nationwide headlining tour, with special guest SCARS ON BROADWAY, which kicks off October 9 in Ventura, California and concludes on the West Coast mid-November. Tickets on sale next Friday, September 7 via Ticketmaster.com.

DEFTONES debuted two new songs — "Roller Derby" and "Rosemary" — during a July 28 concert West Hollywood, California.

Speaking to QMI Agency, DEFTONES< singer Chno Moreno said that the two tracks are not necesasarily the best indication of what fans can expect to hear on the upcoming effort.

"I don't think those songs are the ones that best represent our record," he said. "They're two different songs, one is a lot more ambient ['Rosemary'] than the other ['Roller Derby'], the other is a lot more aggressive. But they're cool, they balance each other out. The songs already sounded great live before we recorded them. When we wrote the record we pretty much wrote it live."

The group also intends to continue their tradition of recording several cover tunes that could end up as B-sides, with Moreno revealing that they've been toying with songs from ELVIS PRESLEY and EARTH, WIND & FIRE, among others.

"The fun stuff is playing somebody else's song and recording it," he said. "We're always open to new stuff. It's fun for us to do something that's out of our element and something you wouldn't expect from a heavier type of rock band. So hopefully it will be something that's a little off the cuff and left of center."

Swedish metallers SOILWORK are currently in the studio with producer Jens Bogren (OPETH, AMON AMARTH, BLOODBATH) recording the follow-up to their 2010 release, "The Panic Broadcast". The Soilworkers have been toiling away and burning many a midnight oil to bring us not just one CD of amazing music, but two! That's right, SOILWORK's upcoming album, "The Living Infinite", will be a double album!

"The Living Infinite" will mark the recording debut of SOILWORK's longtime touring guitarist David Andersson (NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA).

SOILWORK's latest album, "The Panic Broadcast", was released in Europe on July 2, 2010 and in North America on July 13, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records.

"The Panic Broadcast" was SOILWORK's studio debut with axeman Sylvain Coudret, who joined in 2008.

An audio sample of "The Depression", a brand new song from New Jersey/New York's ILL NIÑO, can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. The recording sessions for the CD took place in Hoboken, New Jersey; Austin, Texas; and Denver, Colorado.

Virginia grindcore titans PIG DESTROYER have revealed the full details of their highly anticipated new album, "Book Burner". The band recorded the razor-sharp fifth-full length and first album in over five years at guitarist Scott Hull's Visceral Sound Studios.

Due on October 22 via Relapse Records, "Book Burner" features 19 tracks with a return to the band's raw, misanthropic sound. The effort will be available on multiple formats, including CD, deluxe 2xCD, LP, deluxe 2xLP, cassette, digital and an extremely limited ultimate edition dubbed "The Order Of The Godless Swine."

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, AC/DC's classic track "It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Want To Rock And Roll)" is one of ten songs which have been selected for inclusion in Australia's National Registry Of Recorded Sound.

Each year, the National Film & Sound Archive (NFSA) asks Australians to nominate their favorite recording, with 10 selected by a panel of experts to be added to the National Registry Of Recorded Sound.

From 250,000 sound recordings held in the National Film & Sound Archive, only 64 have made it on to the register since it began in 2007.

"It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)" was the first track on AC/DC's album "T.N.T.", released in December 1975. The song, which was written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young and Bon Scott, is notable for combining bagpipes with hard rock guitars, drums, and bass guitar; in the mid-part of the song there is a duet between the bagpipes and the electric guitar. A slightly shorter version of the song was released as the opening track on the international version of AC/DC's "High Voltage" album, released in May 1976.

Pulverised Records has announced the signing of Malaysian death metal deviants LAVATORY. The band is currently working on its full-length debut for a 2013 release.

Spawned in 2012, LAVATORY released a five-song EP entitled "Transgression" earlier this summer, showcasing the band's unwavering penchant for raw, Swede-ian death metal as originally conjured by the likes of ENTOMBED, CARCASS and DISMEMBER.

LYNYRD SKYNYRD's Rickey Medlocke and Peter Keys and .38 SPECIAL's Bobby Capps were recently added to the list of musicians who have recorded guest appearances on the forthcoming solo album from POISON singer Bret Michaels, "Bret Michaels And Friends: Get Your Rock On". Also scheduled to appear on the CD are Ace Frehley (KISS) and Michael Anthony (CHICKENFOOT, VAN HALEN), Phil Collen (DEF LEPPARD), Joe Perry (AEROSMITH), Loretta Lynn, Lil Jon and Sal Coz Costa (MY DARKEST DAYS).

In a recent interview with Gimme Noise, Bret stated about his upcoming CD, "My album will be out [later this year] and I'm really proud of what we've done with it. It's actually going to be called 'Bret Michaels And Friends: Get Your Rock On', and I'll explain why: It's really not just a Bret Michaels album. I had so many other talented artists come in and support that it's really a 'Bret Michaels And Friends' album. There's a staggering amount of talent on this album. . . It's been such a fun project for me and I'm excited to share it with the fans."

Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine in February, Bret revealed that his new solo album will feature a remake of the POISON smash "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" as a duet between him and Loretta Lynn>. He said, "For me, growing up in a family that my father loved country music and 'Coal Miner's Daughter', this is gonna be a really awesome time."

DIMENSION F3H, the Norwegian death metallers led by Morfeus (LIMBONIC ART), are putting the finishing touches on the songs for their third album, entitled "This Mechanical World". The band hopes to enter the studio within the next couple months to begin recording the CD for an early 2013 release.

DIMENSION F3H's second album, "Does The Pain Excite You?", was released in June 2007 via Dark Essence Records.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, HALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale has been named the "Hottest Chick In Hard Rock" in Revolver magazine's annual round-up of the sexiest female rockers. Hale tops a list of 25 women that includes current tourmate and EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee at No. 2, "Gossip Girl" star Taylor Momsen at No. 3, IN THIS MOMENT's Maria Brink at No. 6 and many others. The poll appears in the magazine's new issue, on sale next Tuesday (September 4).

Hale says she's pleased to top the survey and gave us her perspective on it. "My view of it really is to make sure that you're good at what you do, and so that when people actually want to look beyond the centerfold [laughs, that you're actually good and you have something to back it up," she says. "I think that most of us are really trying to push the envelope and, you know, make sure that we're musicians first and that the sex is just kind of the icing on the cake."

HALESTORM and EVANESCENCE are currently touring together on the "Carnival Of Madness" trek, which next stops in Clifton Park, New York on Friday (August 31).

Lee has been joining Hale onstage during numerous dates on the tour to perform the HALESTORM track "Break In".

VAN HALEN has released the following statement:

"Eddie Van Halen underwent an emergency surgery for a severe bout of diverticulitis. No further surgeries are needed and a full recovery is expected within four [to] six months.

"VAN HALEN's scheduled November 2012 tour of Japan is currently being rescheduled and the band looks forward to seeing and playing for their fans in 2013."

According to WebMD, diverticulosis happens when pouches (diverticula) form in the wall of the colon. If these pouches get inflamed or infected, it is called diverticulitis. Diverticulitis can be very painful.

VAN HALEN recently canceled the 31 North American tour dates it initially postponed in May.

Both singer David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen denied rumors that they were fighting again on the road, with fatigue and an over-ambitious schedule given as the reasons for curtailing the group's live work.

Eddie told Guitar World in a new interview that the band intends to stick around for a while, saying, "It feels more like a band and a family than it ever has . . . We're all very opinionated about things, but it's all for the benefit of the music."

The band has been supporting its new album, "A Different Kind Of Truth", VAN HALEN's first album in 14 years and first with Roth since 1984.

Bobby Liebling of legendary doomsters PENTAGRAM involved in a "bad bicycle accident" yesterday (Wednesday, August 29) while he was out running errands for his wife and child. As he came around a curve, his front wheel hit a stick that was partially covered up in some loose sand. He was thrown into the road and slid several feet, with his bicycle landing on top of him. Banged up, bleeding and dizzy, he made his way home where he was immediately taken to the emergency room. He suffered an elbow injury, bruised ribs and received 12 staples in his head (see photo below).

Fear not…. the show must go on! He will still perform with PENTAGRAM at the first Power Of The Riff - East festival on September 1 at Warsaw in Brooklyn, New York. The band will perform its Decibel magazine "Hall Of Fame" album, "Relentless", in its entirety for the first time since the early 1980s. PENTAGRAM will also play other beloved songs spanning the group's career, including tracks from their most recent album, "Last Rites". The influential doom legends will also support DOWN in Phillaldephia and Maryland.

New York death metal veterans SUFFOCATION and hard rockers ZEBRA are among the inductees for this year's class of the Long Island Music Hall Of Fame. TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider will receive the Harry Chapin Award at the event, which will be held on October 18 at The Paramount in Huntington, New York. Snider will also perform selections from his "Dee Does Broadway" album.

"Make Me Drown", the new Danny "Ham Cam" Hamilton-directed video from Southern California's SUNFLOWER DEAD, can be seen below. The song comes off the band's self-titled debut album, which was released on August 21 via Bloody Bat Records LLC. The 11-song CD was recorded at Temple Studios, owned by Raymond Herrera of FEAR FACTORY and B-Real of CYRPRESS HILL, with Christian Olde Wolbers (FEAR FACTORY) in the producer's seat. The effort was co-produced and mixed by Jeremy Blair (GUNS N' ROSES, DEVILDRIVER) at Temple and House Of Blues Studios, and mastered by Robert Hadley (KORN) at The Mastering Lab.

SUNFLOWER DEAD, which consists of Jaime Teissere (guitar, formerly of DROID), Michael Del Pizzo (vocals, piano, accordion), Jaboo (guitar, formerly of TWO HIT CREEPER), Luis Gascon (bass, touring member of BUCKETHEAD), and Jimmy Schultz (drums, a touring member of IN THIS MOMENT), formed with the goal of "creating an undeniable unit that would not just move but more importantly, entertain people," according to a press release.
