COREY TAYLOR Says He Will Begin Work On Next STONE SOUR Album Later This Year

COREY TAYLOR Says He Will Begin Work On Next STONE SOUR Album Later This Year

SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR singer Corey Taylor was interviewed at the first-ever Carolina Rebellion festival, which was held on Saturday, May 7 at Metrolina Expo in Charlotte, North Carolina.

When asked about his plans for the foreseeable future, Taylor said, "We're talking about doing another STONE SOUR album. I've already got about 16 songs written. We're gonna do something… This will the first time we get to do back-to-back albums. It's something I'm pretty excited about. I've got a really great concept and hopefully it flushes out that way. We still haven't gotten together and demoed everything yet. But if I have it my way, it's gonna be the biggest thing we've ever done."

STONE SOUR canceled the rest of its recent tour dates after drummer Roy Mayorga suffered a stroke following a gig in Des Moines, Iowa last month.

The canceled STONE SOUR concerts included stops in Rapid City, South Dakota, Fargo, North Dakota, Detroit, Libertyville, Illinois, and Columbus, Ohio.

Mayorga joined STONE SOUR in 2006 after the band's previous drummer, Joel Ekman, was forced to leave the group in order to spend time with his son, who was diagnosed with brain stem cancer.

STONE SOUR bassist Shawn Economaki was forced to leave the band's recent tour to deal with undisclosed "personal issues." STONE SOUR has used a replacement bassist for some recent shows.

The band's third album, "Audio Secrecy", has sold 175,000 copies in the U.S. since its September 2010 release.

STONE SOUR is not scheduled to perform again until September, when the band will appear at Brazil's Rock In Rio festival. Frontman Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root will play shows this summer with SLIPKNOT.

DOWN Still Rehearsing Without REX BROWN

According to DOWN's official web site, the acclaimed New Orleans band — which features in its ranks CORROSION OF CONFORMITY guitarist/vocalist Pepper Keenan, drummer Jimmy Bower (EYEHATEGOD, SUPERJOINT RITUAL guitarist), bassist Rex Brown (ex-PANTERA), guitarist Kirk Windstein (CROWBAR), and vocalist Philip Anselmo (SUPERJOINT RITUAL, ex-PANTERA) — has been rehearsing for its upcoming European dates, which kick off next week. In addition, "it looks like they're gonna lay down some new tracks at the end of the month when they return from the other side of the pond," the posting adds.

Former SOULFLY, PUDDLE OF MUDD Members Join Forces In AGAINST ALL WILL

"Swept Away", the new video from AGAINST ALL WILL, can be viewed below.

Formed by guitarist and principal songwriter Jimmy Allen — an original member of the band PUDDLE OF MUDD — AGAINST ALL WILL boasts ripe, radio-friendly rock songs replete with fat hooks, huge choruses, and melodies that linger long after the music has stopped.

Powered by the vocals of frontman Jeff Current and a heavy-hitting rhythm section of former SOULFLY bassist Marcello "Cello" Dias and DEAD KENNEDYS drummer Steve Wilson, AGAINST ALL WILL's seven-track debut, "A Rhyme & Reason", is described in a press release as "a warm wash of sweet tone and salty vibrato, with lyrics that hit just as hard as the songs."

While most Los Angeles outfits are filled via open auditions or by hired guns, AGAINST ALL WILL was filled through referrals and recommendations — chemistry was critical, and the personalities needed to fit just as securely as the players.

AGAINST ALL WILL's independently released debut, "A Rhyme & Reason", was produced by Tim Harkins (KORN, ALICE IN CHAINS, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE) and featured the song "The Drug I Need" which received lots of airplay on SiriusXM's Octane channel.

CHARON To Call It Quits This Summer

CHARON To Call It Quits This Summer

Finnish metallers CHARON have announced they will call it quits after this summer’s performances. .

The band explains about the split: "This shouldn’t be a really big surprise for anyone. We are forced to admit that we have no longer anything new to give to the genre in which Charon has operated. Doing things forced or not straight from the heart has never been a band practice for us. And a 100% satisfactory outcome would no longer be possible.

After the last studio album we should have gotten a grip in time and not to delay the decisions we faced in the end of 2009. In the summer 2010, a new beginning with a new guitarist worked brilliantly and we even wrote a full album of songs. But we did not have enough heart and passion to light up the final fire and to finish the record. Years of hanging loose from the noose had eaten up most of our energy and creativity.

Playing in the band has been a solid part of our lives for nearly two decades. Charon had been a measure for everything that we've done in our lives. There are lots of good memories and tours behind and above all, great fans. Everything has its moments but nothing lasts forever. Our moment ends now."

Charon released five studio albums as well as last year's compilation album A-Sides, B-Sides and Suicides. Charon’s last studio album was Songs For The Sinners from autumn 2005.

The guys will announce more about their new plans when the time is right.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Planning 20th Anniversary Celebration?

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Planning 20th Anniversary Celebration?

According to The Pulse Of Radio, rumors are swirling online that RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE is planning something big to celebrate the band's 20th anniversary. So far, the group has announced just one date, headlining a festival called L.A. Rising on July 30 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Although the band reunited in 2007 following a seven-year break, they have not done a full tour or recorded new material, opting instead for scattered festival dates both in the U.S. and Europe.

RAGE's last full album release was the 2000 covers collection "Renegades". The band's last set of original material was 1999's "The Battle Of Los Angeles".

Meanwhile, guitarist Tom Morello has set August 30 as the release date for his third album as THE NIGHTWATCHMAN, titled "World Wide Rebel Songs".

Morello told The Pulse Of Radio he delayed the release of the record so that he could take part in protests in Madison, Wisconsin earlier this year against the anti-union policies of Governor Scott Walker. "That record was planned and ready to go when the Madison thing erupted, and I just said, you know, I've got to do something about this," he said. "I can't just sit on the sidelines. I want to lend whatever help I can as a musician and as an activist to help steel the spine of this growing labor movement."

The guitarist released an EP called "Union Town" digitally on May 17. All profits from sales of the EP benefit The America Votes Labor Unity Fund via SaveWorkers.org. The disc consists of eight pro-union songs inspired by the Madison rallies this past February.

Unlike previous acoustic NIGHTWATCHMAN albums, "World Wide Rebel Songs" features a full electric band. The debut single, "Save The Hammer For The Man", features Ben Harper on guitar and vocals.

New PEARL JAM Album Moving Along Fast

New PEARL JAM Album Moving Along Fast

The Pulse Of Radio reports that the recording of PEARL JAM's 10th studio album is underway earlier than anticipated, according to RollingStone.com. The site caught up with frontman Eddie Vedder at the Los Angeles studio where the band has been working, noting that the project is "coming together faster than the band expected." Vedder remarked at the beginning of the interview, "I don't want to jinx it, but it's on!"

Vedder himself released a new solo album, "Ukulele Songs", on Tuesday (May 31), consisting almost entirely of just him singing and playing the tracks on ukulele. Vedder explained, "I just wanted it to be the one sound. At first it was kind of a joke, and then it became a little bit of a challenge, a puzzle, to see if I could create 11 or 12 songs with just a ukulele. It's like painting with one color."

The singer is touring behind the album this month, while PEARL JAM will continue its 20th anniversary celebration with its own two-day festival on Labor Day weekend and the release of Cameron Crowe's documentary "Pearl Jam: Twenty" and an accompanying book this fall.

Bassist Jeff Ament told The Pulse Of Radio that he's ready to leave the past behind — which included recent reissues of the band's first three albums — and focus on the new record. "If every two years we were doing one of those kind of box set, you know, like a group of two records or whatever, that would be fine," he said. "But I think that with the movie and this book and all that stuff, I'm ready to make a new record."

Vedder also doesn't want to wallow in PEARL JAM nostalgia too long, saying, "I feel like we have to keep our eyes on the road. Being nostalgic is like taking an offramp and getting a sandwich — and then you get back on the highway. I don't want to be spending the rest of my life at the gas station."

MASTIC SCUM Working On New Material

MASTIC SCUM Working On New Material

Austrian extreme metallers MASTIC SCUM have issued the following update:

"We are currently working on the new album! We are fucking excited about the new record which follows our last album, 'Dust', our strongest release up to date, of which we are very proud!! However, the new release will be for sure a progression from the songwriting and sound production points of view. Some of the songwriting is already done, but we still have work to do! The new material so far is fucking brutal, combining shredding rhythms, mosh grooves and grindcore blast attacks! We sure give 100% in the songwriting process and we cannot wait to enjoy with everyone the new overdose of brutal distorted structures! Be prepared!! As our goal is to enter the studio earliest in autumn 2011, we are very focused on our work and will play just a few live shows this summer/fall. Nevertheless, we really look forward to grind with you at our upcoming shows!"

"Construcdead", the latest video from MASTIC SCUM, can be viewed below. The clip was filmed in Innsbruck, Austria and was produced and directed by Sulinor.

QUEEN 15-Foot FREDDIE MERCURY Statue Unveiled In Liverpool; Photos Available

According to the Liverpool Echo, a 15-foot statue of late QUEEN singer Freddie Mercury has found a temporary home on Paradise Street in Liverpool, England to celebrate the arrival of the hit QUEEN and Ben Elton musical "We Will Rock You" at the Empire Theatre this September.

Originally the plan was to put the statue on the Empire's canopy on Lime Street, but at 680 kilograms (approximately 1,500 pounds), Freddie was simply too heavy.

Andrew Rawlinson, Liverpool Empire general manager, said: "Our city is often referred to as the World Capital of Pop, so I think the bustling streets of Liverpool One will make a very fitting spot for Freddie.

"This show has audiences rocking wherever it goes and I’m sure Liverpool will be no exception."

BUMBLEFOOT Survives Car Wreck

BUMBLEFOOT Survives Car Wreck

GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal is recovering from minor injuries he sustained in a road accident that involved four cars. Thal was driving his silver Toyota on Tuesday, May 31 when an SUV "just plowed into [him] full speed." He wrote on Twitter, "Car is totaled. Two other cars she smashed me into." He added, "Well enough to tweet; means I'm not dead yet."

Thal posted a photo of his wrecked vehicle on Twitter and praised Toyota for the "functional seat belt, air bags and crumple zone," which he credits for "saving [his] skull."

He later posted another message which said, "I've spent 24 hours dealing with car rental, insurance and collision folks, banks and police — as the injuries begin to reveal themselves," before telling concerned fans: "Oh, please — I'm in GUNS N' fucking ROSES. This is all like a walk in the park!"

Bumblefoot joined GUNS N' ROSES in early 2006 as the replacement for Buckethead. He made his live debut with the band at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on May 12, 2006.

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY: New Songtitles Revealed

The reunited classic "Animosity" lineup of CORROSION OF CONFORMITY — Mike Dean (bass, vocals), Woody Weatherman (guitar) and Reed Mullin (drums) — entered the studio earlier in the year with longtime producer John Custer (1991's "Blind", 1994's "Deliverance", 1996's "Wiseblood", 2000's "America's Volume Dealer", 2005's "In The Arms Of God") to begin recording the band's new album for a late 2011 release.

In a recent interview with UGO, Dean stated about the forthcoming CD, "The title is yet to be determined.?A self-titled release crossed our minds but the album title is a game-time decision. October is a good time but if we miss that, early 2012 would be a fine time for release.? 'The Moneychangers', 'River Of Stone' and 'Rat City' are some of the [song]titles [that will appear on the CD]."
