Victory Records has set a March 29 release date for the "Best Of" collection from the Raleigh, North Carolina-based progressive rock/cutting-edge metal band BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME. The compilation CD/DVD contains 20 songs spanning the group's impressive career, including songs from "The Silent Circus", "Alaska", "Colors", "Colors Live" and "The Great Misdirect" as well as five bonus tracks never before released on CD. The DVD portion of the release will feature music videos for "Moredecai", "Alaska", "Obfuscation" and "Synesthesia". All of this and more comes in an interactive package that uses a spectral decoder to unveil hidden messages and special imagery — a must have for any BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME fan.

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME has inked a worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records. The quintet will kick off the partnership with the April release of its new album, "The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues".

"The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues" will contain the first new music from BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME since the release of 2009's "The Great Misdirect", which sold 13,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 36 on The Billboard 200 chart. Nera, the singer of the Polish metal band DARZAMAT, will release her debut solo album, "Foresting Wounds", under the name NERANATURE on May 8 via Metal Mind Productions.

Audio samples of four tracks ("Shattered", "Precious Now", "Oblivion" and "Disappointed") that will appear on the CD can be streamed on Nera's MySpace page.

Formed in 2009, NERANATURE "appeared as a space where the air is filled with matters lingering in [Nera's] head, a bit more intimate, private and sometimes bizarre and freakish," according to a press release.

"I've been waiting for a long time for the right place and time to find an outlet for my personal thoughts and beliefs," explains Nera. "This is the time and place." The idea appealed to Chris, the guitarist of DARZAMAT, who created the base for the melodies and completed the project with his music.

The name of the band is a combination of two words: Nera, which is the nickname of the vocalist, and Nature, which represents a reflection of a deep connection with the environment. It can also be interpreted as the nature of Nera — a diversity of views reflected in the songs. The feminine character of lyrics imbued with the feminist outlook on life constitutes one the most significant elements of the projects, touching upon such issues as man's detachment from nature and running away from himself/herself. The approach presented in the album is not only the singer's artistic pose, as Nera has been an engaged animal-rights activist and a vegetarian for the last 15 years.

The music of NERANATURE can be categorized as a mixture of atmospheric rock/metal, ambient and trip rock.

"Foresting Wounds" contains ten compositions — ranging from sensuous ballads to more energetic songs — which were produced by Jaroslaw Toifl.

Los Angeles thrashers WARBRINGER have announced the addition of drummer Carlos Cruz (HEXEN) to the group's ranks.

"After years of putting forth nothing but blood, sweat, and tears into my tireless ambitions for playing music, I have finally found an outlet where no more time is wasted. It was flattering to have been approached by WARBRINGER the first time they made a personnel change in 2008, but this time around it couldn't have felt more like perfect timing," states Carlos. "They're a collective group of humble, open-minded, down-to-earth guys who share the same fanaticism for music as I do and are the tightest musicians I have ever played with. DiMarzio, Inc., the Staten Island, New York-based company that manufactures magnetic pickups for electric guitars, has posted a four-minute video clip of TWISTED SISTER guitarist Eddie Ojeda talking about his first hand-wound Super Distortion pickup, his DiMarzio cables and straps, and his solo projects. Said Ojeda: "Right now I'm working on my second solo album [entitled 'Pick A Window, You're Leaving']. I hope to have some guest artists, like I did on the first one. On the first one I had Ronnie James Dio, Joe Lynn Turner, Rudy Sarzo on bass… Dee Snider [of TWISTED SISTER] sang a song as well. I had quite a few guest artists and I hope to do the same on this album. I just don't know who I'm gonna get yet. But it should be a nice surprise."

Eddie Ojeda's 2006 solo album, "Axes 2 Axes", was recently made available on vinyl for the first time via Steel Legacy and Rockaholics Records. 500 hand-numbered copies of the LP were made (250 in black with pink bits configuration and 250 in a reddish/pink tint).

"Axes 2 Axes" features guest appearances by such acclaimed hard rock/heavy metal vocalists as Ronnie James Dio (DIO, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH), Dee Snider (TWISTED SISTER), and Joe Lynn Turner (RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN). Listenable Records has announced the signing of Swedish heavy metal band KATANA. According to a press release, the group "delivers a show that is 100 percent pure adrenaline and will take the audience straight back to the golden age of the early '80s.

"The music of KATANA is heavily influenced by bands like IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST and ACCEPT. According to The Pulse Of Radio, Rob Zombie told England's RockAAA in a new interview that his original band, WHITE ZOMBIE, will never reunite. Zombie explained, "I don't see the point. I think as with most things people have a memory of something like, 'I saw them when I was 14 years old and it was the greatest thing ever,' but if they saw us now they'd probably go, 'I wish I hadn't seen that reunion, it was awful.' The singer added, "It is better to leave it alone and I haven't talked to anyone from the band except (drummer) John Tempesta in about 15 years."

WHITE ZOMBIE broke up in 1997 and Rob Zombie went on to launch a successful solo career in 1998. He told The Pulse Of Radio that nowadays a lot of his audience isn't even familiar with the old WHITE ZOMBIE songs. "The crowds are really, really young and I've been noticing that with the set list too, because, you know, as the time has gone on, we've really worked the WHITE ZOMBIE material more out of the set, because we've been finding that it's not working like it used to," he said. "It seems like that those songs just seem now old to people and it's very strange."

The history of WHITE ZOMBIE came up when Rob Zombie was asked to comment on the recent publication of "I'm In The Band", a memoir from ex-WHITE ZOMBIE bassist and Rob's former girlfriend Sean Yseult.

In the book, Yseult claims that the departure of drummer Ivan DePrume led to the eventual disintegration of the group.

Zombie said, "I have not seen it [the book] so I can't comment. I can barely remember those days, so I'm glad somebody can."

He added, "Everybody likes to make up stories which aren't true. I don't think that's fair. Ivan left the band, John Tempesta came in and the band sounded better than ever, we kept playing and made bigger records and did more tours so I don't see how that had anything to do with it."

Zombie is currently on tour in Europe, where he is playing some countries for the first time in more than a decade. He says that rumors about him having a fear of flying and thus not traveling overseas were just an urban myth.

Once his current road trip is finished, Zombie will return home to begin pre-production on his next movie, "The Lords Of Salem".

My Kingdom Music has announced that the signing of Italian metallers CROWN OF AUTUMN. The band's new album, "Splendours From The Dark", will be released on May 6.

Madrid, Spain's HAEMORRHAGE has completed work on its new full-length album, "Hospital Carnage", for a May 24 North American release (May 30 internationally) via Relapse Records. The follow-up to 2006's "Apology For Pathology" will be made available on CD, LP and digitally. The album art, as designed by the band's guitarist/vocalist Luisma, can be seen below.

HAEMORRHAGE recorded "Hospital Carnage" at VRS Studios with Samuel Ruiz. The CD was mastered by Scott Hull at Visceral Sound. Songtitles set to appear on the album include "Traumaggedon" (for which the band recently shot a video), "Fomite Fetish", "Hospital Thieves", "Hypochondriac", "Necronatology" and "Tumour Donor".

Belgium-based metallers THURISAZ have inked a deal with Greece's Sleaszy Rider Records for the release of the band's third album, "The Cimmerian Years". DEMONICAL, the Swedish death metal band featuring past and present members from CENTINEX, GRAVE, REGURGITATE, INTERMENT, AMARAN, WORLD BELOW and DELLAMORTE, will release its third album, "Death Infernal", on April 15 via Germany's Cyclone Empire Records. The CD was recorded, mixed and mastered at Necromorbus Studio (WATAIN, UNANIMATED, DESTRÖYER 666) in Alvik, Sweden under the watchful eye of DEMONICAL frontman Sverker Widgren. AZARATH, the Polish extreme metal band featuring BEHEMOTH drummer Zbigniew Robert "Inferno" Prominski, will release its as-yet-untitled fifth album on June 6 via Witching Hour Productions. The CD was recorded in January and February at Hertz Studio (VADER, BEHEMOTH, LOST SOUL) with the Wieslawscy Bros. handling the production, mixing and mastering. The music was composed and arranged by Inferno and Bart, while Necrosodom wrote all the lyrics. 10 new devilish hymns were recorded for the album, including "Behold The Satan's Sword", "Under The Will of The Lord", "Deathstorms Raid The Earth" and "Lucifer's Rising".

Commented Inferno: "The character and atmosphere of music was changed considerably. The music is dark, ominous and spatial — in many parts refers to black metal and classics of the genre. Aggression and sonic massacre is not lacking at all – as this is our main frontline."

AZARATH recently underwent some personnel changes — Necrosodom (guitar and vocals) replaced Bruno, while the bass duties are now being handled by P.

A new AZARATH EP, "Holy Possession", will arrive on April 10 as a CD and seven-inch EP. It will feature the title track and a cover of "Rebel Souls" by DAMNATION. The CD edition will be limited to 666 copies ("die hard") and the seven-inch EP will be limited to 333 copies — on white vinyl with a metal envelope containing also a poster and a badge.

The graphic design for the for full album and LP was handled by Boris Kaluzhny (a.k.a. Hatefrost), a Ukrainian artist residing in New York.

Phil Vane, the founding co-vocalist of the British crust punk/grindcore band EXTREME NOISE TERROR, reportedly passed away last Thursday (February 17) at the age of 46. Although no official cause of death has yet been released, it is rumored that he died in his sleep.

The surviving members of EXTREME NOISE TERROR have released the following statement regarding Vane's passing:

"The rumors are true. We're sorry to announce that Phil passed away recently. The band will make a full statement soon but for now we need to take the time to come to terms with this terrible loss."

Atlanta progressive metallers MASTODON will release their first-ever live experience package, entitled "Mastodon: Live At The Aragon", on March 15 via Reprise Records. The set will contain a CD and DVD which captures the band's sonic assault recorded and filmed live on October 19, 2009, at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago while touring in support of its critically acclaimed album "Crack The Skye".

Former SYLOSIS frontman Jamie Graham has joined the fast-rising U.K. groove metal outfit HEART OF A COWARD.

In search of a refreshing, heavier vocal edge, the band parted ways with their vocalist last month and Jamie couldn't have stumbled upon the band at a better time.

Blown away by the content and structure of the material, and the fresh ideas on the table, Jamie stepped up to lay down only what can be described as a monumental audition to bring the band together as a unit like never before.

This completed a sound of devastating, rage-filled groove that will most certainly lead to much success over the coming year!

FETUS STENCH, the Karlstad, Sweden-based death metal band featuring members of BLOOD RED THRONE, THE LAW and SLAUGHTEROUS, has made three songs from its debut demo — "Stillborn Son", "Meat Grinder Flesh Obliteration" and "Butchery Divorced" — available for streaming on MySpace.

FETUS STENCH was formed earlier this year by Andreas "Björte" Björnson of SLAUGHTEROUS on guitar and vocals, Emil Wikste from BLOOD RED THRONE on drums, Bullen from THE LAW/INFERIOR on bass and Illern of ACDS on guitar.

Legendary British occult metal act HELL will release a new single, "Save Us From Those Who Would Save Us" — a re-recording of the band's original single released in 1983 — digitally and on picture vinyl, limited to 666 copies, on March 4. The single will contain the title track backed with "On Earth As It Is In Hell", for which the band recently shot a video with director Kristian Havard of Visual Concepts UK.

Swedish metallers THE EMBODIED have entered Sonic Train studios in Varberg, Sweden with producer Andy La Rocque (KING DIAMOND guitarist) to record their self-titled debut album. Due later this year via Pure Legend Records (a sub-label of Pure Steel Records), the CD will include four songs that were previously laid down with Andy in 2009 along with five brand new tracks.

Commented the band: "We are thrilled to finally have our first album out in stores and to have our music distributed all over the world is a milestone in our music career."

THE EMBODIED will make a number of European festival appearances this summer.

The band previously released a demo EP, "Relativity Fade", in 2006.

Skol Records will release the first-ever METALUCIFER tribute album titled "Heavy Metal Hell - A Tribute To Metalucifer". The CD will be limited to only 666 copies, and will have its official premiere at the Keep It True festival in Germany, on April 29 (where the Japanese heavy metal samurais METALUCIFER will also play).

"Heavy Metal Hell" was produced by Bartolucifer (a.k.a. Bart Gabriel), who has previously worked with such bands as SABBAT, CRYSTAL VIPER, LONEWOLF and METALUCIFER. The cover artwork was painted by the legendary French artist Chris Moyen (TRIVIUM, BEHERIT, BLASPHEMY).

METALUCIFER from Japan is known as one of the true defenders of old-school heavy metal. Formed in 1995 as the side project of SABBAT mainman Gezol, the band soon turned into full-time act.

CINDERELLA played its first show in over three years on March 19, 2010 at the Grizzly Rose in Denver, Colorado.

In a 2010 interview with Bring Back Glam!, CINDERELLA frontman Tom Keifer spoke about his voice issues which forced the cancellation of CINDERELLA's U.S. tour with WARRANT, LYNCH MOB and LYNAM in the summer of 2008.

"The root problem with my voice issues started in 1991 when I was diagnosed with a paresis, [which is] partial paralysis of one side of my voice box," he explained. "You have to train it to learn how to sing again.

"The partial paralysis is a neurological thing and it's caused by viruses, even a common cold virus. The virus gets into the nerve and it can degenerate it. It's rare, but it happens. Once degenerated, you can't — there's no surgery or medicine that fixes it. You have to retrain it and it is very tedious and time-consuming and it's not a lot of fun. In a lot of cases, it is career-ending.

"The singing voice is such a fine tuned instrument and any subtle change can throw it off."

He added, "A year ago, I met the 'Miracle Man' who is a vocal coach. He really taught me a lot of things about breathing and how to control my air and how to prevent this from happening again. I've been studying this technique — it's what they teach opera singers — classical voice training, which I've never been trained that way before. It doesn't change the tone of your voice, just how you support it. I still sound the way I sound but I'm not hurting my voice, and it's really worked and my voice feels stronger."

Regarding the possibility of a new CINDERELLA studio album at some point in the not-too-distant future, Keifer told AOL's Noisecreep, "We always feel like a band when we get back together and tour so the plan right now is to not put any pressure on ourselves and to just get back out and have some fun, do shows and be a band again and we'll see where it leads. It's definitely a possibility we could make a record at some point, I just don't know when that would be. I would say it's gotta be right place, right time. It's gotta feel right."

After stints with KMFDM, MARILYN MANSON and SKOLD VS. KMFDM as producer/songwriter/guitarist/bassist, Tim Skold will return this spring with his first full-length solo album in 15 years, "Anomie".
