SEX PISTOLS Launch Official Perfume

SEX PISTOLS Launch Official Perfume

Legendary punk rock act SEX PISTOLS has teamed up with perfume company Etat Libre D'Orange to launch its own official band fragrance. According to the company, the scent offers "a fresh, restless bite of lemon, sharpened and intensified by deiant black pepper. It's the unruly turbulence of a prune and an in-your-face ambrette."

The company adds: "Electrified by aldehydes, you can feel the pure energy, pared down and pumped up by leather, shot through with heliotrope and brought back down to earth by a raunchy patchouli."

SLAYER Guitarist Kerry King - \"I Think Our Career Is Similar To AC/DC\'s\"

SLAYER guitarist Kerry King spoke with Ed Masley from Azcentral.com recently about a number of topics. A few excerpts from the chat follow:

Azcentral.com: With World Painted Blood did you have goals going in as to what kind of record you wanted to make?

King: "Not really. I think our career is similar to AC/DC's. They're more rock and roll. But I think people like AC/DC because they sound like AC/DC. And people like Slayer because we're Slayer. It's like, 'Here's the formula.' There's no point in changing it 'cause it works pretty good."

Azcentral.com: I saw an interview online where you were talking up the new song 'Hate Worldwide', and you said Slayer's been spreading the hate worldwide for 25 years. You really feel like you've been spreading hate?

King: "To some people. I think a lot of times, we say things that people are too scared to say in their own lives. People can relate to what we're saying. They can relate to that rage, even though they may or may not be able to lash out in their own lives. Maybe they can live vicariously through our songs."

Azcentral.com: So if someone did quit, you wouldn't continue as Slayer?

King: "No. I'm not gonna go around with some (expletive) made-up Slayer band (laughs). But I tell you what. My next band would sound like Slayer. That's all I know."

MEGADETH DAVE MUSTAINE Says He Is \

MEGADETH DAVE MUSTAINE Says He Is \'So Excited\' About The New Relationship He Has With METALLICA

In a brand new interview with Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune, MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine reveals that the "biggest misunderstanding" he wanted to clear up in his recently published autobiography, "Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir", is all of the "disagreements with other bands," which he claims is "so old." He adds, "None of us care about it anymore. You can see what happened with the 'Big Four' reunion (the MEGADETH stadium shows in Europe this summer with the other three of the so-called 'Big Four' of 1980s thrash metal — METALLICA, SLAYER and ANTHRAX) and all of us playing together. It was like there was some kind of enjoyment having disagreements, this feud among all of us. A lot of people have disagreements. But there we were on stage playing together and hugging at the end. How can this be a feud when you have proof right there on film? It will be released on DVD — the shot heard round the world. It shows you this whole terrible thing has been perpetuated by the press."

When pressed to admit that his relationship with those other bands has had its share of tension and competitiveness over the years, Mustaine replies, "Like Lars (Ulrich of METALLICA) says, there is the relationship we have and the relationship the press thinks we all have. And the proof is when we were all doing the jam on (DIAMOND HEAD's) 'Am I Evil?', I was listening to how loud the crowd was, and it was as loud when we hugged each other as when we played the song. It gave me chills. James (Hetfield of METALLICA) and I being able to embrace on that world platform shows people that metal is a close-knit community. We don't leave our wounded behind. Kerry (King of SLAYER) says to me, 'I don’t even know what I was mad about anymore.' What's important is that the four pillars of the metal community are all in a great relationship right now. It's a shame our politicians can't get along as well. In America there is always that good-luck story and everyone wants to see the person win in the end. I've had a little redemption watching this whole thing come around full circle."

After Kot points out there is a scene in the METALLICA documentary "Some Kind Of Monster" where Mustaine and Lars talk and Dave comes across like a guy who has never quite completely gotten over being fired from METALLICA in 1983, Mustaine says, "I think that's pretty accurate. I care about those things. I still do. I was drinking and drugging, but I never got any warning from Lars and James when they fired me. They just put me on a bus and sent me home. The movie was something they were doing, and I didn't know what it was about. I'd been through enough therapy myself, so I didn't mind being put in that situation. All I wanted was some closure and to have a new relationship with those guys. We did so much damage to the relationship through drugs and alcohol. I still wanted to be friends with him. I knew sitting down and talking with that guy was going to address part of it. I just wanted closure with these guys so we could put the past behind us. We were kids when it all went down. But James wasn't there when Lars and I had our talk (in the movie). James said to me at the 'Big Four' concert that he wished he had been there, and I was moved by that. I thought he was a gentleman, I was very proud of him. This is all so fantastic now. I am so excited about this new relationship I have with these guys."

BILLY IDOL - \"Here We Go Again\"

BILLY IDOL - \"Here We Go Again\"

BILLY IDOL guitarist Billy Morrison made the following entry in his tour diary:

"Ahh, that old, familiar feeling, headed towards LAX in a car at an inhuman hour, bound for the great beyond and the first show of a tour. This time, it’s with Steve Stevens sitting next to me, both wearing shades and hanging on for that first large caffeine injection which will be given to us at the airport. Time to batten down the hatches, hoist the main sail, and shiver yer timbers, cos the Billy Idol tour is about to traverse America (with some Canada thrown in for good measure) and we’re coming your way. The three weeks off went by in a haze and a blur, and we just finished three days of rehearsing with the new stage set. By the time I post this, the first of the new Morrison tour diaries for the US tour, the set will have been seen live, and no doubt spread worldwide on the ubiquitous YouTube, so I can tell you that it is fucking amazing! The panels surrounding the amps, the stairs and the platform light up and just having the different level now gives us room to run around and give you guys a real performance. We have also written and integrated another new song into the set, called ‘Scarred For Life’ and the creative energy that is flowing right now is really inspiring. So sit tight, and let me guide you through the next two months, day by day and week by week. Derek, McG, Morrison, Stevens, Colson and Idol are coming!!

The first show of the tour was Tulalip, WA, and it will forever be known in my head as the ‘wardrobe malfunction’ show. After deciding on some really old Vivienne Westwood boots for footwear. I made my way up to the stage. The new stage set was looking amazing and as we walked up the stairs and Steve started the opening chords of 'Ready Steady Go'... I felt my feet do something weird! I looked down and the soles of the boots had literally parted ways with the rest of the shoe (I think the glue had just melted in the heat) – felt like I had some kind of old punk rock flippers on my feet or something!! But I couldn’t walk – and had to shuffle my way through the first two songs, screaming at Jimbo to grab me a pair of sneakers from my wardrobe case, and then did a quick footwear change after the second song – absolutely hilarious, if you actually knew what was going on!! The rest of the show was great, and we began getting used to the extra real estate available to us with the stairs and the platform. The audience was noisy and enthusiastic and it felt good to be back onstage together. The brand new song, 'Scarred For Life', really kicks and I love playing and singing it with Billy. So here we go again, one down and a whole bunch to go. The day off after the first show was in Eugene, OR and quite frankly, I say it's best if we skip over that and just move straight into...

Roseburg, OR. Beautiful scenery, stunning countryside and the assault on the senses that is the Douglas County Fair. The faint aroma of farmyard animals mixed with corn dogs greets us as the bus pulls in to the natural amphitheater and fairgrounds. 10,000 people expected at the show tonight and Derek, Jeremy and I head out to sample the sights and sounds of the venue. The rabbits look cute, the chickens... um... cluck a lot... and the place is filled with people enjoying their weekend. Good vibes all around. The show itself is fine, and we play an energetic set, running around and making use of our new stage. I’m absolutely loving my new Gibson 335 – I’m using it on 'White Wedding', 'Eyes Without A Face' and the new song, 'Kings And Queens', and it plays and sounds just perfect. Lower output than my Les Pauls, so perfect for a change of feel and tone. The Roseburg crowd make the appropriate noise and we finish as usual with 'Mony Mony', and that’s it done. Show number two in the bag and a long overnight drive to Reno, NV.

Casinos look so absolutely perfect when Sharon Stone is gracefully running around them coked up to her eyeballs and De Niro is smashing things up and rolling around in more money than we will ever see in two lifetimes. The reality is that they are dry, air conditioned money pits with a lot of extremely unsatisfied people trying desperately to change circumstance and ‘get theirs’... although the ‘coked to the eyeballs’ part can still be very much evident. But... Rock N Roll and Casinos go hand in hand, and Vegas and Reno are the places that do it the best. Tonight's show is at the Grand Sierra Hotel And Casino and the place is another huge skyscraper, sprawling across acres of land and with a killer venue attached – a kind of old school looking theater. Unfortunately it also seems to be full of wireless gremlins and after hours of tweaking and messing with the wireless guitar equipment, I have to make the decision to play with a cable (meaning that I am back to the old school and tied to my amps). The new lights look amazing inside (the first two shows were outdoors, so this is the first time we see it all in action indoors) and cable notwithstanding, I do my best to enjoy the space we have. The new song, ‘Scarred For Life’ seems to go down really well again, getting a loud response from the crowd. 'Sweet Sixteen' and 'LA Woman' are highlights for me tonight, and all too soon we’re nailing the end of 'Mony Mony' and it’s goodnight Reno. Back on the bus and we head out towards 5 days of basing the tour out of Los Angeles. This is both a good and a bad thing for me. Although we will be playing the next three shows ‘from home’ (which means my wife, my favorite sushi restaurant and my motorcycles!) it also means that the headspace of leaving to go on the road is broken. I guess those who have not toured may not understand this, but once I leave town, say goodbye to people, pack a suitcase and mentally prepare to do this for a couple of months, it’s weird to come back again so soon.

The two days off are, for me, spent cramming more of life into the short space of time that 48 hours seems to offer – buy shit I forgot I needed and didn’t know I wanted, unpack, repack, mani/pedi (oh yes indeed, that’s right boys and girls... keep those nails shiny and fresh!), filmed a scene for a new documentary on the Sunset Strip, got a massage, saw my chiropractor (CRACK, OUCH!), ate a shitload of raw fish, and slept well. Wednesday rolls around and it's off to jolly old Temecula, CA for the first of two nights at Pechanga. And the first night is all about the H.F.C.C. For those who don’t know, the Hellfire Canyon Club is a loose-knit group of friends and musicians who ride motorcycles in Los Angeles – I am an original member, and Mr Idol has also ridden with us more than once, and I am sure most of you have seen the Hellfire tee shirts that I sometimes wear onstage. So, anyway, a few of the guys decided to take a road trip out to the first Pechanga show, and one of our OG members, Danny Boy O’Conner (from House Of Pain) had whipped up an HFCC X Idol tee shirt! Killer design – respec’ Danny, thank you! It’s nice to have them out to the show and the band hit it hard. Tonight feels tight, loud, rock. The intro to 'Ready Steady Go' packs a punch and it steadily gains pace from there. I really enjoy playing this show and Steve Stevens and I have some great moments together doing the whole ‘two guitarists’ – it feels very cool indeed. The sound of the fruit machines mixed with loud Les Pauls is ringing in my ears when we crawl into bed late that night.

Well, I’m happy to be back on the road with Billy and the guys. The three weeks off went by so quickly and to have written more new music with Billy and Steve during that time feels good. I look forward to getting more songs together with these guys and seeing some of it released soon. Being in the band and touring with Derek, McG and Jeremy is good for the soul. These guys are solid, professional, and very funny, and it is extremely easy to live in a mobile tin can with them all for 8 weeks at a time. And having Billy Idol and Steve Stevens at the helm of the ship is inspiring. The age old imagery that I opened with, the whole ‘rock n roll pirate’ thing, is really in effect with these guys – they have had long, winding, successful careers that continue to change, grow and move forward. I’ve just joined the crew as one of the band of pirates that gets to sail with them and enjoy the bounty! Have a great week, be nice to each other, and I will be back next week with another diary. Thank you all."

DESCEND - Debut Disc To Feature Nine Tracks

Alex Wijkman, guitarist for Swedish progressive death metal band DESCEND, has issued the following update:

"Alright guys, as you might already know we have entered the studio to record our debut album. Here's a quick update from Essex, England.

Andreas (Lindström) and Jonte (Persson) arrived at Escape Route Studio last Monday to start recording drums. As you know we have a fucking amazing drummer, hence he managed to lay down drums for 9 tracks in 4 days. That's right people, the album will consist of 9 tracks, but that is all we will tell you about the album for now...

I arrived today to start recording guitars along with Andreas. I went straight into the action and we nailed the rhythm guitars for 4 songs today!

We have good help from our producer and owner of the studio Dan the great and his sidekick Joe, who really help us get the most out of our playing.

Justin (Biggs) will fly down on Friday to start laying down some heavy grooves on the bass."

ATHEIST Drummer Wants Everybody To \

ATHEIST Drummer Wants Everybody To \'Chill\'

Drummer Steve Flynn of reactivated seminal technical metal pioneers ATHEIST, who received criticism from some of the band's fans for how they announced the departure of bassist Tony Choy, has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"Wow, seriously folks... I'm not sure how this was taken so far out of context.

"Actually, I am. I know exactly how this got taken so far. It's PR 101. The statement needed to be more simple, devoid of emotion, and to the point. It was a poor attempt and it was too long. However, there is a LOT of truth in that original press statement and there is a WHOLE LOT that people took the wrong way. Period. It's really quite simple.

"The whole point of the statement was that ATHEIST became what ATHEIST eventually became a very, very long time before Tony Choy played in the band... It's fact, it is most certainly not opinion...It's VERY very simple. Tony knows this and will agree without hesitation.

"Tony called me and said that he didn't want to continue doing this sort of music. In fact, he said it on multiple occasions previously. Simple. The problem was when he said it the last time and decided to pull the plug it was four weeks before we went to studio. THAT CLEARLY SUCKED!! We were pissed . . . We then tried to explain that his absence has, in no way, any significant impact on the sound, writing, musicianship, that made ATHEIST whatever it is to this day and/or the new record — 'Jupiter'.

"The truth is (and nobody will or can argue the simple point) from day 1 it was Kelly [Shaefer, vocals] and me who were primarily responsible for writing, arranging, and so forth... just as it is today — with [guitarists Chris] Baker and J.T. [Jonathan Thompson] in 2010 contributing significantly.

"The 'Unquestionable Presence' [1991] lineup (the guys that wrote the music) did not include Tony. It's simple. Tony stepped in and played on the album. He played what was already written. TONY HIMSELF would NOT disagree with that.

"We will release a joint letter soon so everybody gets it.

"That's it! That's all we tried to say.... QUITE poorly obviously!!!

"Again, our apologies.

"The 'legend' of ATHEIST and who was part of the original lineup has become quite distorted over the past 20 years. Again, read the first press release.

"While we're friends, we love Tony, we may still tour together (if Tony wants to still do this sort of music) and on and on... he was not part of what made the sound that is to this day recognized as ATHEIST. Tony (not a judgment in any way) simply played what was already written on 'Unquestionable Presence'. Now, he was a contributor on 'Elements' [1993], to be sure. Kelly will tell you he was a significant contributor. But, scattered individual opinions aside, that album is NOT considered by most people as a quintessential 'ATHEIST' record....where 'Piece Of Time', 'Unquestionable Presence' are....

"Does that make sense to everybody?

"I wasn't part of 'Elements'. Tony was. Tony wasn't a part of 'Unquestionable Presence' or 'Piece Of Time'. I was.

"Does that make sense?

"The foundational lineup did not include Tony, and it was that foundational lineup that is responsible for whatever you think of ATHEIST in 2010.

"Tony and I talked about this subject last week at length. No harm...no foul....It's simple.

"The press release was poorly done. Again, while it communicated much truth, it was written with and taken with the wrong tone, and that we did NOT intend. We simply wanted the truth to be out there. Though I will say that in many folks' defense, I can see how it was interpreted as it was.

"We're not professional PR folks. We're just trying to exist, work, and play cause we love the music!

"All's well. Tony's well, we're well. I'm sure Tony's new endeavors will be great... we'll probably be touring together (did everybody miss that on the last release?), we're still friends. I'm going to Miami to visit in a couple weeks to hang out with him.

"So, again, apologies for the drama. But, please, everybody... chill.

"If anybody would like to discuss, we'll be glad to have a conference call, video interview, whatever.

"Again, it's just music. There's been a LOT of heated debate here. It's all good."

KATAKLYSM Frontman Claims His Band Was \

KATAKLYSM Frontman Claims His Band Was \'Disrespected\' By MEGADETH

In a recent interview with Exclaim!, vocalist Maurizio Iacono of Canadian extreme metallers KATAKLYSM spoke up about an incident that he claims took place late last month at the two-day Heavy MTL festival in Montreal, Quebec, Canada where his band was allegedly "disrespected" by MEGADETH.

"We always looked up to MEGADETH, to us they're a cult band and legendary musicians and we've always been huge fans," Iacono said. "But there is a certain limit to where you can be a rock star. Sometimes you can overstep your boundaries and to us, it was a disrespectful thing."

He continued, "What happened is, we were backstage and a person from our camp — I don't want to start mentioning names — but somebody from our band was waiting to go backstage where the area for musicians is. The cart was passing through and the driver stopped and said, 'Do you want to hop on?' and he said, 'Yeah' and hopped on. They drove ten meters and they just stopped and all the MEGADETH people, including Dave Mustaine, just jumped off the cart and said, 'We're not going to share with everyone else.' So my guy got off and said, 'You guys can keep it, I'll walk.'"

When asked whether MEGADETH knew who KATAKLYSM was, Iacono told Exclaim! it shouldn't have mattered. "To me, even if we're KATAKLYSM and you're a fan or a person that belongs to the entourage of the backstage area and you're jumping on to get a ride to somewhere, I would never stop the guy and say, 'I'm not being on the same cart,' or 'I'm not stopping for anybody,'" he said. "That's not us, but maybe we're just different."

AGATHODAIMON Parts Ways With Guitarist, Announces Replacement

German black/death/gothic metallers AGATHODAIMON have parted ways with guitarist Jan Jansohn "due to musical and personal differences" and have replaced him with Thilo Feucht. The band states, "[Thilo's] no unknown musician to our fans; you will know him from various contributions and guest appearances he had on 'Chapter III' [2001] and 'Serpent's Embrace' [2004], back then under the nick name of Azrael. He has also joined us on stage several times in the past since 'Chapter III', and already for our recent gigs we had in Austria and Germany.

"We're proud that he joined our ranks as full member now, and look forward to working on our sixth album together.

"Speaking of album No. six, for which we can announce the working title 'In Darkness...' It will be a step back to our roots, girls and boys!

"A studio date is scheduled for early 2011. More news to come soon."

FORGOTTEN TALES Complete New Album Recordings

Quebec City-based metallers FORGOTTEN TALES have checked in with the following update from guitarist Martin Desharnais:

"I know you didn't have much news from us lately, but don't be afraid, the work never stopped and we finally finished recording the album. In the past weeks we were busy composing and recording the keyboards and the backing vocals. Once again Robin Roy has done us the great pleasure of adding his voice to Sonia's voice.

The coming weeks will be devoted entirely for the mixing and the mastering of the album. The visual design of the cover is currently in progress and is going well.

Our project is coming to an end and we all look forward to present this 3rd album that will be, without a doubt, the best work of Forgotten Tales. No one will remain indifferent, you can be certain."

TRANSPORT LEAGUE Working On New Material

TRANSPORT LEAGUE Working On New Material

Reunited Swedish heavy rockers TRANSPORT LEAGUE have commenced the songwriting sessions for their comeback studio album, tentatively due next year. The band says, "We are trying to write songs as occasionally as we can meet up at the rehearsal room. At this moment we have about five new tracks in the pot, with the titles: 'Swing Satanic Swing', 'King Doom', 'Hasch Crash', 'I Am The Seven' and 'Pork Named Jack'."

TRANSPORT LEAGUE played its first reunion show on May 15, 2009 on the Terass stage at Henriksberg in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Bassist Ken Sandin was unable to participate in the reunion concert and was temporarily replaced by another former TRANSPORT LEAGUE bassist, Johan Reivén.

Commented the group: "TRANSPORT LEAGUE was the band who invented the phrase 'boogie from hell,' well known and well heard on the two first albums, 'Stallion Showcase' (1995) and 'Superevil' (1997). Just listen to tracks such as 'Cosmical Satanical' and 'Lost in the Desert of Habib' and you will understand what we are talking about.

"TRANSPORT LEAGUE no doubt paved the way for such artists as VOLBEAT and MUSTASCH, drawing from many sources to create a new format for heavy guitar-driven groovy rock."

TRANSPORT LEAGUE's fourth full-length album, "Multiple Organ Harvest", was released in November 2003 through Holland's Seamview Records.

TRANSPORT LEAGUE 2010 is:

Matt Starander - Drums
Tony Julien Jelencovich - Vocals/Guitar
Peter Hunyadi - Lead Guitar
Lars Häglund - Bass
