According to an article in the latest issue of Revolver magazine, Massachusetts metallers ALL THAT REMAINS have set "For We Are Many" as the title of their fifth album, tentatively due in September via Prosthetic Records/Razor & Tie. The follow-up to 2008's "Overcome" was produced by KILLSWITCH ENGAGE guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, who previously helmed ALL THAT REMAINS' "The Fall of Ideals" (2006) and "This Darkened Heart" (2004) releases.

Finnish black metallers GLOOMY GRIM check in with the following update from vocalist/keyboardist Agathon:

"Gloomy Grim is going to record MERCYFUL FATE cover 'Black Funeral' plus one, still untitled, (original) song.

Studio starts July 7th and we will then record the base of the songs. After that, I'll (add) synths to them, so release date (maybe just online) will be something like start of August.

Gloomy Grim is alive and well, despite some people having thought something else."

Gloomy Grim's Under The Spell Of The Unlight album was released on May 26th, 2008 via Anticulture Records.

TOMBSTONES, the US-based death/thrash metal band featuring legendary underground vocalist Stevo Dobbins
(IMPETIGO), have finished recording their debut album due for a summer release via Razorback Records. The
album was mixed/mastered by Patrick Bruss at the Filth Chamber in Denver, Colorado and features the following recording lineup:

"Totalitarian", a brand new song from the Belgian grindcore act LENG TCH'E, is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. The track, which features a guest appearance by NAPALM DEATH frontman Mark "Barney" Greenway, comes off LENG TCH'E's new album, "Hypomanic", which was released in Europe on May 24 and in North America on June 8 via Season of Mist. The CD was recorded at Parlour Studio in Kettering, United Kingdom with producer Russ Russell.

VADER have announced a special tour for their native Poland, going under the banner Głosy z Otchłani (De Profundis 1995- 2010). It will be the band's last Polish tour for 2010 and will feature a special set. Frontman Peter Wiwczarek checks in:

"Playing such a special tour, consisted mostly of some places passed over during the latest Blitzkrieg campaign, I would like to give it some kind of a special rank. So, to make the upcoming tour even more unique, in connection with the 15th anniversary of Vader's classic record, we are going to play the entire De Profundis album as a part of our standard live set. Hopefully Vader's fans will enjoy the idea and we will be able to repeat it during some band's future tours:

Recently we appeared on several really successful tours, such as Unholy Titans featuring also DEICIDE and MARDUK, and Blitzkrieg in the East! This year we have already played over 100 shows. More will come really soon! In July Vader will play on a three big festivals: RockHarz in Germany (09.07), Gateway in Sweden (10.07) and W?gorzewo Festival in Poland (11.07.) At the end of September we shall embark on another tour in the U.S. this time together with our colleagues from IMMOLATION. Vader will appear on the tour as a co-headliner, so you should expect band's complete, at least one hour live performance. Denver, Colorado-based technical death/grind metallers CEPHALIC CARNAGE have set "Misled By Certainty" (cover) as the title of their new album, due on August 31 via Relapse Records. The follow-up to 2007's "Xenosapien" was recorded at the band's own studio with longtime engineer/producer Dave Otero. The CD is described in a press release as a "50-plus-minute journey into metal's most extreme realms" which "see[s] these veterans takes it to edge before pulling it back with 'Repangea', perhaps their most sprawling and epic work to date."

Audio samples of all 12 tracks that appear on "Custom Built", POISON singer Bret Michaels' forthcoming solo album, are available for streaming on Amazon.com. The CD is scheduled for release on July 6 via Poor Boy.

In a recent interview with PopEater.com, Michaels stated about the upcoming CD, "For me, there's so many different songs I want people to hear ... I'm excited about the rootsy version of 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn', the new stuff. The theme song to my show is called 'Riding Against the Wind' ... and a cover of SUBLIME's 'What I Got'. That's one of my favorite songs; it just puts me in a great mood. I love hearing that song, so I busted it out live, and I thought I did a really respectful version of it. I wanted to keep some of what the song is, but I added some of my own lyrics and a cool breakdown to it. We played it live and it went over insane. It's been one of my favorite songs since the early '90s."

Michaels' new reality show, "Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It", is planned for the fall. Footage was shot on May 28 at a show in Biloxi, Mississippi for the first episode.

Michaels made it to last month's live finale and won the title of "The Celebrity Apprentice", beating out actress Holly Robinson Peete.

Michaels, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was six years old, flew from Los Angeles to New York to attend the NBC show.

BLOODGUT, the new "dirty doomy grindy death metal" project featuring Roger "Rogga" Johansson from PAGANIZER/RIBSPREADER, will release its debut album, "Nekrologikum Evangelikum Pt. I: Zombie Reign 2666 AD", before the end of the year. A press release states, "If you like AUTOPSY and IMPETIGO, chances are you won't like BLOODGUT the slightest. However, chances are also that you will. BLOODGUT doesn't care. BLOODGUT just wants you to bleed. And feed on your guts."

The "Nekrologikum Evangelikum Pt. I: Zombie Reign 2666 AD" artwork was created by the Hungarian artist Peter Sallai (BORNHOLM, FOREST SILENCE, DAMNED SPIRITS' DANCE). The CD was mastered by Dan Swanö (EDGE OF SANITY, BLOODBATH).

Madrid, Spain-based power metallers DARK MOOR have issued the following update:

"DARK MOOR will have a special guest for the next album, the talented soprano singer Berenice Musa [pictured below].

"Berenice Musa began to study classical singing at the Superior Conservatory of Music of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. After completing the Intermediate Level in the Conservatory, [she] moved to Holland where she finds the higher education in Codarts Conservatory of Rotterdam. Along with an extensive career as a soprano soloist who has been singing opera and concert halls for various Spanish and European cities, get to combine the passion for metal as the singer of the band TEARS OF MARTYR.

DARK MOOR will enter New Sin Studios in Italy in August with producer Luigi Stefanini to begin recording its eighth album for a late 2010 release.

Commented the band: "There will be some surprises that we are sure you will like.

"We are very excited about how things are going out and we believe that is a very important step in our career."

DARK MOOR's latest album, "Autumnal", was recorded in part at New Sin Studios in Italy and features a guest appearance by soprano Itea Benedicto (NIOBETH).

DARK MOOR's previous CD, "Tarot", was released in the U.S. in May 2007 via Caroline distribution.

German melodic metallers SYMPHORCE, who feature in their ranks guitarist Cédric "Cede" Dupont and singer Andy B. Franck (BRAINSTORM), recently entered the studio to begin recording their new album for a late summer release via AFM Records.

SYMPHORCE's last CD, "Become Death", was released in February 2007 via Metal Blade Records. The CD was recorded at the House Of Music Studios in Winterbach (near Stuttgart), Germany with producer Dennis Ward (PINK CREAM 69). Mastering duties were handled by Achim Köhler (BRAINSTORM).

MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson was recently interviewed for the Sonisphere festival web site. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Q: Scott Ian [ANTHRAX guitarist] sang on stage with you in Switzerland. How did that come about?

Ellefson: It surprised the crap out of me. All of a sudden I heard someone bellowing really loud and I thought, "Man, Chris Broderick is singing really loud today," and I turn around and Scott's on my mic singing. That was unplanned unless Dave mentioned it to him, but with "Peace Sells" that's sort of our come-one, come-all singalong sort of song, so anybody who might be out there watching in the wings, we're like, "come on, get on out here." Scott happened to be that guy in Switzerland.

Q: How's the relationship with METALLICA now?

Ellefson: Very good. I've always got along well with them. I was never in METALLICA, so I like them. I think they're great. I've always liked them as guys, I thought they were cool, their band rocks, their records are great. They're just a ferocious live band. As far as the obvious with our whole band and all the bands, honestly, it's great. METALLICA have risen to such huge success, it's very cool of them that they would move themselves off of their perch of iconic celebrity to just come back down to this scene of metal, which we've all created together. Because they've been able to move far away from this scene many years ago through the records they made and the songs that they wrote, which I always admired because most bands can't. MEGADETH was able to for a while. SLAYER never did. ANTHRAX did some things that were creative and cool. Now all four of us have a very different sound even though we all came out of the same gene pool musically and to some degree we all kind of end up as a branch off the METALLICA family tree. I mean, Dave [Mustaine, MEGADETH mainman] was in METALLICA, I played with Dave, Kerry King [SLAYER guitarist] played with MEGADETH. We're all part of the METALLICA fist in some shape or form. It's cool. It's sort of like a family reunion, which is very healthy and a lot of fun.

Q: "Endgame" only came out last year. Is it too early to start talking about a new album?

Ellefson: A little bit. It's funny because people are happy that I'm back and the first thing is, "How about the Big Four?" and then it's, "Hey, when are you going to do a new album?" It's because people are excited. People say they can't wait to hear new material with me and Dave playing together. We have one track called "Sudden Death", which is on "Guitar Hero VI", which is coming out and as soon as I played on it, right away it sounded like MEGADETH. That's the chemistry that Dave and I have playing together and it was really, really cool for that to happen. That'll be the first thing and then next year before we get to look seriously at the new record. Trying to do it when you're out here jumping from city to city, show to show, setlist to setlist, you're not focused. You're out here as a performer and when you go into that creative mode to write a record, you can't be thinking about "Are my clothes ironed?" and "Does my hair look okay?" and "Is my bass in tune?" It would probably take most of next year to make it, quite honestly. It could be next year, but my thought is that it's probably most likely a 2012 release, which supposedly is the year the world is going to end anyway, so it'll be perfect.

Q: You're a Christian. How does playing on the same bill as bands like SLAYER and BEHEMOTH square with that?

Ellefson: I grew up as a Christian. There was nothing fanatical. As far as playing with SLAYER, I think SLAYER lyrics are pretty funny, actually. I enjoy their approach and their topics. I've know Kerry now for a lot of years and I get his very dry sense of humor and so when I read his lyrics, I'm like, that looks like a Kerry lyric. I kind of get a kick out of it. I don't think it's as demonic and evil and satanic as everyone thinks it is.

On Friday, June 11th, UNEARTH hit the Main Stage at the legendary Download Festival on the Castle Donington grounds alongside AC/DC and THEM CROOKED VULTURES.

"We get to share the same stage as one of our collective all time favourite bands AC/DC as well as rock giants John Paul Jones, Dave Grohl and Josh Homme of Them Crooked Vultures. I would say it is an understatement to just say that is pretty damn cool," said Unearth frontman Trevor Phipps. "Being part of that stage with those bands is a huge honour for us and is something we are looking forward to more than words can express."

Dani Nuutinen, who previously fronted MEDICATED, the Finnish metal band featuring former IMPERANON vocalist Aleksi Sihvonen, has rejoined the group as its new second guitarist.

MEDICATED is currently working on a new EP for a late 2010 release. Video footage from the studio can be viewed below.

Commented Dani: "I was almost freakin' out when I heard that I have the opportunity to join MEDICATED again! Good old pals and awesome music to play! 342, the second album from French avant-garde metal masters PIN-UP WENT DOWN, will be released through Ascendance Records on June 28th.

In 2006 Alexis Damien, multi-instrumentalist and former drummer for avant-garde metal band CARNIVAL IN COAL launched his new project, Pin-Up Went Down. He brought in vocalist, Asphodel and although they had only met twice prior to recording, together they went on to create 2 Unlimited, an album that managed to combine gothic metal with funk, jazz, punk, and a whole host of other experimentations into the mix, melding together to create an utterly unique and bizarre blend of styles and moods.

If 2 Unlimited surprised by its originality, 342’s most significant feature might be its maturity. 342 is an un-inhibited display of eccentricity, pushing the genre to new and unchartered waters. Inventive musicianship coupled with Asphodel’s vocal gymnastics strike the balance between unrestrained sickness and emotional beauty.
